Ann Brashares has created a wonderful, heartfelt series for teens (and adults) around a pair of pants. In her breakout bestseller, The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, Brashares introduced readers to four girls, Lena, Bridget, Carmen, and Tibby, and to the magical pair of jeans that fit them all perfectly, and inspired them to live their young lives to the fullest. Forever in Blue, the fourth and final novel in the series, promises a dazzling finale--one "last glorious summer" for the four girls, and their fans. See a note from author Ann Brashares, below.--Daphne Durham

A Note from Ann Brashares

December 1, 2006

Dear Amazon Reader,

Well, here we are together again. If you are getting ready to read the fourth book, Forever in Blue, that means we've probably spent some time together. I hope you've enjoyed it. I know I have.

We don't know each other and we may never get to meet, but I feel like we are connected nonetheless. We've spent time with four fictional girls together. We've puzzled over their lives and their choices. We've rooted for them and sometimes felt annoyed by them. We've shared some hopes for them, I think, and in the process for ourselves.

So thank you for being part of the sisterhood with me. I have really appreciated your company along the way.

Happy reading,

Ann

The Second Summer of the Sisterhood

The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants

Book Description

With unraveled embroidery and fraying hems, the Traveling Pants are back for one last, glorious summer.

Lena: Immerses herself in her painting and an intoxicating summer fling, fearing that the moment she forgets about Kostos will be the moment she sees him again.

Carmen: Falls under the spell of a sophisticated college friend for whom a theatrical role means everything and the heritage of the Pants means nothing.

Bridget: Joins a dig for an ancient city on the coast of Turkey and discovers that her archaeology professor is available in every way except one.

Tibby: Leaves behind someone she loves, wrongly believing he will stay where she has left him.

Join Ann Brashares's beloved sisterhood once again in a dazzling, fearless novel. It's a summer that will forever change the lives of Lena, Carmen, Bee, and Tibby, here and now, past and future, together and apart.

Book Description

As their lives take them in different directions, Lena, Tibby, Carmen, and Bridget discover many more things about themselves and the importance of their relationship with each other.

3 out of 5 stars I liked the others better.......2007-08-10

This was the book made to tie up loose ends. Everyone came to a conclusion about their life and the pants. The whole thing was sort of boring. Yes I liked the book, but in a way everyone was the same as they started. I suppose the point of it was to show how they had grown up and still stayed the same. Maybe it was that there wasn't enough excitement or maybe it's that I'm tired now but i thought it wasn't as good as the other books.

5 out of 5 stars Sisterhood.......2007-08-04

I have enjoyed this entire series...takes me back to my Judy Blume days. The girl in all of us can identify with these characters as they grow, change, and try to not lose themselves or each other in the process. The earlier on you learn that nothing means more than your girl friends...the better off you are! I think the quotes between the chapters are insightful, and I enjoy finding their relation to the story as I read on. That brings a literary aspect not often found in young adult novels. I appreciate that this book and its prequels can be light and real at the same time. A book about pants sounds like fluff, but you feel with these girls as they deal with real issues both internal and external. Real doesn't have to be dark...bittersweet seems more fitting. These books capture the laughter through tears that is what sisterhood is about. I highly recommend reading them all.

4 out of 5 stars So Long Sisterhood.......2007-07-26

Although this wasn't my fave Sisterhood book, it deserves kudos for not only reflecting the maturity of the characters at this point in their lives, but also the realities of growing up and growing apart. This is the fourth and supposedly final chapter of the Sisterhood tomes, and is likely to provide a conclusive feeling for the readers of the series.

To recap, the Travelling Pants series details the summers four best friends spend, sometimes apart, sometimes together. They are of course, as per the legend, bonded together by a pair of 'magical' pants that give them the strength of the love they feel as friends even when they aren't together.

In all fairness I read the third book quite some time ago so reading the new fourth one was a bit of a cognitive leap - I could barely remember a lot of what happened in the past! Anyway in this one the girls are bridging the gap between their first and second year of university. They've actually shared the pants year-round this time because they have spent the year at different colleges etc. That should be your first clue something is up - the girls are very very much so a lot more individual characters this time around, which was both refreshing and problematic. Of the latter, it was good because I was sick and tired of how cheesy and overemphasized their relationship was - although some sappy moments still exist towards the end, they are certainly toned down. But in the absence of their friendship it almost defeated the purpose of the book, and the pants of course.

This time around the girls spend most of their summer apart. Tibby is still in New York working and taking a summer class and wondering whether she has made the right choices when it comes to her relationship with Brian. Bee (my fave as always) is in Turkey getting back to basics on an archeological dig site and wondering whether the best alternative to missing her boyfriend is not missing a single thing her hot professor does. Flamboyent Carmen has surprisingly shrunk into her shell over the last year, and fallen under the wing of a supposedly protective, glorious friend, who turns out to be anything but as their summer continues. Lena is at art school and enraptured with a guy, shockingly this time, not the love of her life, Kostos.

As I mentioned earlier, the book definitely took on a more mature tone than the others - most of it dealt with sex and relationships and very little of it focused on friendship and personal self-growth - although most of the storylines evolve to give the girls those girl power moments of epiphany. Although I enjoyed the storylines a lot more this time it almost felt like the characters were under-used and less developed because there was far less crossover opportunities given their summer was spent so far apart emotionally and physically.

Brashares does a good job wrapping up the series in a realistic way though - Upon finishing it, I realized why she decided to do a fourth (I completely assumed the third would be the last) as each book is kind of meant to represent each of the four girls.

All in all a fitting conclusion to the series that represented, quite honestly, the realities of growing up and moving away when it comes to those true blue friends you thought you'd never forget, and those true blue jeans you thought you'd never lose.

5 out of 5 stars Forever in Blue: The Fourth Summer of the Sisterhood (Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants).......2007-07-19

OMG!!! I loved every single one of the books preceding this book and this one hit the mark! It is so wonderful, and though it is so sad that it ends the series the finish is remarkable. Brashare's masterpiece is complete!!!

2 out of 5 stars One too many.......2007-07-15

I thought the prime qualities of the first three books of this series were charm and innocence. For the fourth installment, one of our heroines poses nude for a male art student and another falls for a married man with children. Whatever other qualities the book may have, charming and innocent it is not.

Book Description

The bestselling Revenge of the Sisterhood series concludes -Yoko Akia has been hungering for revenge all her life, and now, finally, it is time. Yoko's mother was just fifteen when a rich American deceived her into a life of degradation in a twisted prostitution ring. She died aged seventeen after bearing her baby girl. Now a great movie star, he is long overdue some justice. Yoko, with the aid of her beloved friends, must punish her father.

Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars exciting thriller .......2007-10-08

The Sisterhood selects Michael "Mick" Lyons as their next target. In Japan over three decades ago, Michael purchased the mother of member Yoko Akia from her parents promising a good life for their offspring in America. Instead he used her as part of his prostitution ring; selling her as an exotic hooker until she became pregnant with his child. The irresponsible hedonistic movie mogul dumped her expecting her to die. That child Yoko survived and as an adult seeks vengeance for her mom.

The Sisters begin their diabolical plot of vengeance by exposing for the world especially his circle the sleazy dealings of Lyons and some of his cronies. As they carry out their scheme, the Sisters know they must be vigilant as the police seem to be closing in on them.

The latest Sisterhood SWEET REVENGE PAYBACK to bring LETHAL JUSTICE to those who have gotten away with crimes against women is an exciting thriller with this time being Yoko's VENDETTA. The story line is action-packed as the fearsome feminists plot to destroy Michael and his VIP male cohorts. The plot, as is the norm in this fun series, seems implausible, but no one will care as everyone will root for Yoko to destroy her biological father.

4 out of 5 stars Very close to perfect........2007-10-03

What a great young adult series. Even though I wasn't really a young adult when I began reading these they sucked me in and I could barely put them down until I had finished. Tells a universal story of friendship, love, lost and everything in between!

5 out of 5 stars Living the Summer.......2007-07-17

I bought this 3 book pakage in spring and it was like I was living the summer already. Each book is a new journey of the four friends and it makes me return to those teenage years I loved so much. Actually, I'm 20 years old but reading these books makes me think that I'm back with my firends in High School.

3 out of 5 stars Really enjoyed the escape/ Too mature for teens.......2007-06-28

I am 31 years old and a mother of three. I love to read and while my favorite genre is historical fiction, I occasionally like to read a YA novel for some "light reading" and an escape from reality. It is a very easy read and I really enjoyed escaping to the worlds these girls live in. No, it is not realistic, but isn't that why we sometimes read fiction? And, contrary to what some reviewers have written, it is very possible for four girls with different personalities to be best friends. I lived that exact situation in high school with my friends. We were so different, and yet those girls are the few that I keep in touch with to this day.

I really enjoyed the first three books and am awaiting the arrival of the fourth. That said, I have a daughter and will not allow her to read this book until she is mature enough to deal with the situations in the book. Probably not until after high school. And even then I would discuss with her the repercussions that come from some of the decisions made in the book.

Nevertheless, this book brings to light the fact that every person has a story. A reason for why they are the way they are. The sequels present this even more.

I very much enjoyed this book.

Teens who loved Ann Brashares's The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants (2001) will cheer its equally riveting sequel The Second Summer of the Sisterhood. As in the first novel, four teen girls who have known each other since birth (their moms shared a pregnancy aerobics class) further forge their bond of friendship through a pair of thrift-store jeans that magically, impossibly, fits them all perfectly.

Like the summer before, Carmen, Bridget, Tibby, and Lena share their individual adventures with the Pants collective, creating an engaging, kaleidoscopic narrative of four voices. This summer, Tibby attends a film program in Virginia and Bridget (Bee), whose mother has died, impulsively jets off to Alabama to get reacquainted with her estranged grandmother. Lovely Lena tries to protect herself from the heartbreak of loving her long-distance Greek god boyfriend Kostos, and Carmen deals (poorly) with her mother dating again and having the nerve to borrow the Pants!

The Second Summer, while breezy and fun to read, deals seriously with love lost and found, death, and finding the courage to live honestly. The teens' lessons are often painful, but the Sisterhood prevails. Quotations from luminaries such as Charlie Brown ("Nothing takes the taste out of peanut butter quite like unrequited love") to Nelson Mandela ("There is nothing like returning to a place that remains unchanged to find the ways in which you yourself have altered") open each chapter and cleverly reflect the novel's many moods. (Ages 12 and older) --Karin Snelson

4 out of 5 stars Fun, light, but emotional.......2007-09-07

In the second summer after discovering the mystery pants, Bridget, Carmen, Tibby, and Lena are getting ready for summer jobs, a break from school, and another summer where they will not all be together in the same city all summer long. But they know from last year that they will stay close and share the beloved pants to keep the magic alive. But unlike last year, each of the girls summers is off to a disappointing start.

Bridget has not been feeling herself all year long and her friends are worried about her. She discovers that her grandmother has been attempting to communicate with her for years but her father has kept the cards and letters a secret. Frustrated and curious, Bridget decides to move to Alabama for the summer to see what she can learn from her grandmother and rekindle the lost relationship.

Carmen is beginning to date and wondering how her life will be affected by boys. What she least expected was for her mother to begin to date again as well. That change concerns her more than her own love life. Add the complication of dealing with her stepsister who appears practically at her door after running away and Carmen does not know which crisis is worse.

Tibby is off to film school for the summer and feeling less appreciated by her mother than ever. In an effort to impress classmates that she thinks are "cool" she manages to offend Brian - one of her closest friends and, she later realizes, a true friend. She must work to repair the damaged relationships in her life all the while dealing with the pain she still feels after Bailey's death.

Lena is wrestling with the feelings she still has for Kostas even though in the spring she wrote to him and broke off the relationship. She is trying to salvage a friendship while ignoring the love that she still feels for him. When he surprises her by appearing on her doorstep things look as though the relationship will only improve. But Kostas has a secret that threatens to ruin their happiness.

Brashares has written another fun installment perfect for summer beach reading. It is light and simplistic yet arguably more emotional than the first novel. The reader gets a sense of the strong friendship between the girls and can relate that relationship to the reader's own friendships. But the individual tragedys pull at the heartstrings and are believable as well. This book is the perfect beach read and will entertain from the first page. Sprinkled between chapters are fun and appropriate quotes - both real and invented - that make the perfect transition from chapter to chapter.

5 out of 5 stars Great Summer Read!.......2007-06-23

I just finished reading this book. This book tells of the girls hardships and friendship over the next summer. Ann Brashares did a great job with this book. I really would recommend this to anybody, but you probably want to read the first one first. I was totally interesting in reading this book and couldn't keep it down. It truly was an amazing book. Lena falls back in love with Kostos but he unfortunatley has to marry another girl back in Greece, and also her grandpa died! Tibby goes to a college in Virginia to work in a film class. There she mad a stunning video about Bailey, which shocks all of her friends and peers. Bridget goes to Alabama to meet her grandma, but not as Bridget. She pretends to be a young person looking for a job, to help herself get to her grandma, but in the end her grandma could secretly tell that it was her all along. Carmen's mom falls in love, and Carmen is scared. She breaks them up but eventually feels sad about that, so she reunites them. This is another great book which I would recommend to anybody who likes happy endings.

4 out of 5 stars The Second Summer of the Sisterhood.......2007-06-05

The pants are back again to work their magic for a second summer. It's 12:00 midnight. The night before the sisterhood will be separated for another summer of adventure, love, and finding their true selves. What will the magic of the Traveling Pants have in store for each of the girls this summer?
The four members of the sisterhood, Carmen, Bridget, Lena, and Tibby pick the lock on Gilda's Aerobics Center, (who knows why anyone would even want to get into that old smelly place besides them) where the four of them first united many years ago when they were still in their mother's stomachs. If you haven't read the first book of this series, The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, I highly recommend it. Last summer, Carmen and the other girls stumbled across the pants in a thrift shop near their town. They knew the pants contained some sort of indescribable magic when each of them tried the pants on, and they fit each of them perfectly. Over the summer the pants were sent from one girl to the next, keeping the girls connected even though they were oceans apart. Now, it's the second summer that the girls have had the pants, and they are about to take them out of their winter storage bag, where they put them last September. There is sure to be some work for the pants this summer as Bridget seeks out her family in Alabama, Carmen finds love for herself and her mother, Lena gets her heart broken form past loves, and Tibby tries to find ways to cope with her lost loved ones. Through all these hardships their friendship remains true. Remember, "Pants=Love, Love your friends, love the pants."
What I enjoy most about Ann Brashares books is how you can relate yourself to one of the four characters. Whether you're a Bridget, a Lena, a Tibby, or a Carmen, each of the girls represents a different type of personality that everyone can relate to in some way.
The most important key to understanding this book would be seeing how great the friendship is between the four girls. You need to be able to understand the changes the girls are going through as they grow up together, but also how one thing stays constant and true between them, their friendship.
The reason why I recommend this book to you is because I think the message of the story it tells on something everyone should learn. This book, along with the three others in its series, has been the only book I have read that shows exactly what true friendship is. Any teen girls who want to read a happy, uplifting story would be missing out if you passed this book up.

5 out of 5 stars The Second Summer of the Sisterhood.......2007-05-24

I really enjoyed this sequel to Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. The four girls, Carmen, Lena, Tibby, Bridget, all go on their ways again. This time Bridget is off to Alabama and Tibby goes to Williamston College in Virginia. Carmen and Lena stay home. This book is full of drama, love, heartbreak, deceiving, and everything in between. If you like Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, then you will love The Second Summer of the Sisterhood. I highly recommend this book to girls age 13 and over. Enjoy!

5 out of 5 stars The Second Summer of the Sisterhood.......2007-05-06

Imagine having a pair of pants that fit anyone no matter what size they are. The Traveling Pants are back in the Sisterhood. This is the second summer with the Traveling Pants for Bridget, Carmen, Lena, and Tibby. They try to make it the best summer, but things don't go as well as planned. Bridget sets off on a journey to Alabama to meet her grandma, Greta; Carmen is concerned that her mother is acting like a teenager over a man, and that she had worn the Pants on her date; Tibby makes a movie that she'd like to be proud of and Lena spent months hiding from love until the day she puts on the pants. To find out how these four best friends summer ends, you'll have to read the book.
The Second Summer of the Sisterhood is a companion to the New York Times bestseller, The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. The Second Summer is my favorite out of these two books. I like it because it kept me wondering about what'll happen. I wanted to read on and on to see how they handle their problems. The book also has specific details, good characters, and humor. The author, Ann Brashares, resides in New York with her husband and their three children. With her great writing skills, both these books became New York Times bestsellers. These two books also held my attention very well! The third summer of the Sisterhood also came alive when Ann Brashares wrote Girl in Pants; The Third Summer of the Sisterhood.
If you've read the first book, I would highly recommend reading this one. This is a very good book for teenage girls to read. I would suggest any girls over thirteen years of age because of mature language and events. I would also recommend this book to anyone who loves to read about love, and friendship. I hope that you will be interested in reading this book as much as I was!

Book Description

This history of the largest block women's organization in the United States is not only the story of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority (DST), but also tells of the increasing involvement of black women in the political, social, and economic affairs of America. Founded at a time when liberal arts education was widely seen as either futile, dangerous, or impractical for blacks, especially women, DST is, in Giddings's words, a "compelling reflection of block women's aspirations for themselves and for society."

Giddings notes that unlike other organizations with racial goals, Delta Sigma Theta was created to change and benefit individuals rather than society. As a sorority, it was formed to bring women together as sisters, but at the some time to address the divisive, often class-related issues confronting black women in our society. There is, in Giddings's eyes, a tension between these goals that makes Delta Sigma Theta a fascinating microcosm of the struggles of black women and their organizations.

DST members have included Mary McLeod Bethune, Mary Church Terrell, Margaret Murray Washington, Shirley Chisholm, Barbara Jordan, and, on the cultural side, Leontyne Price, Lena Horne, Ruby Dee, Judith Jamison, and Roberta Flack. In Search of Sisterhood is full of compelling, fascinating anecdotes told by the Deltas themselves, and illustrated with rare early photographs of the Delta women.

5 out of 5 stars More than you can Imagine!.......2007-07-09

I am a memeber of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. I read this book the Summer before my Sophmore year at Texas A&M University-Commerce for enrichment. I was interested in Delta and wanted to know the background, history, and legacy. As a Delta I feel this book spreads more knowledge than you anticipate. It's informative, interesting, and beautifully written. I reccommend this book to everyone who is a Delta and anyone aspiring to become one, because this will broaden your horizons and give you and extended perspective and appreciation.

5 out of 5 stars A Book To Keep.......2007-02-18

I loved this book. I went to the web site for Delta Sigma Theta Inc and learned that you should read this book if you are interested in the organization. I read this book and I did not put it down until it was completed. My sister who is a member of this organization was impressed to know that I was doing my homework and truly was interested in joining her organization. I can say that I have looked at all the other organizations out there and I have met members of them all but I know with out doubt that Delta Sigma Theta is the one for me. This book was well written easy to follow and had great photos detailing the history of the organization through out the 1900's. I also learned so much about how Delta Sigma Theta applied to become incorporated before AKA and was actually created by members of AKA and so many other details. This book is the best source of information for a person that is an outsider to this organization and though I have a sister who is a member she will not tell me anything , as she wants me to learn it for myself.

5 out of 5 stars Looking into history.......2007-01-04

I thought this book was a very easy read. I really enjoyed the content. i highly recommend this for those just wanting to look into history.

4 out of 5 stars Great book if your interested.......2006-06-23

This book is great if you're interested in how Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. came into existence, especially if you are interested in becoming apart of the organization. Another good book is The Divine Nine. Many people believe that there is animosity between DST and AKA because of the creation of DST. That is not so, and if you read this book you will find this to be true. Also, to dispel the complexion/color myth, if you look at the founders of both organizations you will see various, beautiful shades of brown, ranging from tan to sepia. There are pictures in The Divine Nine.

5 out of 5 stars A wonderful Account of the History of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc........2006-01-25

The first time I read this book was Sophomore year of college at Clark Atlanta University. Once I began reading this book I realized that Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is an excellent example of what a sorority should be. The foresight of the founders to chart their own course and to consistently strive for excellence shines through even in the modern day activities of the sorority. Paula Giddings put her heart and soul into this book and it is a must read for anyone who wants to learn about sisterhood at its best. Although I am not a member, I will certainly make Delta Sigma Theta my first and only choice. Kudos to Ms. Giddings for a job well done!

I loved this book, and all the others in the Revenge of the Sisterhood series. I couldn't put them down!!!

5 out of 5 stars Resurrection.......2007-05-24

Number Five of the Sisterhood Series delivers the sweet taste of revenge. "Sweet Revenge" by Fern Michaels keeps the reader come back for the next installment.
Isabelle Flanders' architectual career/life were destroyed when she was blamed for a drunk driving accident which took the lives of three people. Later she realized she was not driving the car and protested to no avail. She seeks out Nicky Quinn for help but the system doesn't work for her, hence her credentials are established for membership in the Sisterhood.
A fun read where nothing is simple but the almost happy endings, which are predictable.
Nash Black, author of "Qualifying Laps."

I have so enjoyed the sisterhood, and the revenge that each sought. I agreed with their methods, and am looking forward to the last of the series. I wish I belonged in the "club"!

5 out of 5 stars Sweet Revenge.......2007-05-07

I really enjoyed this novel. The whole 'sisterhood' series is great. It's good to see 'good' prevail, even if it is in a fantasy. And even if it takes 'doing wrong' to correct a right. It was a fun book to read. I could hardly wait to see how it was all pulled together.

I have read the entire series by this author. I am in the process of reading the newest release called "Free Fall". Every one of these books, are, in my opinion fantastic! Go Sisterhood! I can't wait to get to the end of my current book to see what lies ahead for the women from Pinewood.

5 out of 5 stars Vigilantes.......2007-07-22

The Sisterhood series is one of Fern Michaels' best series. Each installment is better than the last. In this installment it's Alexis' turn to get revenge and Michaels accomplishes this with such class. I love the way she humiliates the criminals.

5 out of 5 stars Ruins grow thorns........2007-05-24

Alexis Thorn, the first-time around, passed her revenge by The Sisterhood. She was haunted by the specter of bars controlling her life.
"Lethal Justice" by Fern Michaels gives Alexis the justice she was denied in grand style as the Sisterhood unite and gain a new member in this the sixth of a good series.
Wanting and being afraid of the consequences of her desire, plagues Alexis, as she knows the score. She served time in prison for a crime she didn't commit and has no desire to return. Perhaps the most complex of the series to date.
Nash Black, author of "Qualifying Laps" and "Taxes, Stumbling Blocks & Pitfalls for Authors."

1 out of 5 stars Hard to finish...not worth reading .......2007-07-19

I wanted to like this book, but the plot was very disturbing-how can anyone feel positive about a book that endorsed this kind of ending?

Women who can outwit the government in this fashion? Yeah, sure.

Everyone has a BMW? Yeah, right.

They don't get caught when they spy? They always get the info they want? That's realistic...

And what happens to the horses? This book was over-dramatized and the characters were 1-Dimensional. The writing showed promise, but didn't deliver. I won't be reading any other books by this author, sad to say.

4 out of 5 stars Till Justice Do You Part.......2007-06-11

Fern Michaels', "The Jury" doesn't rest on the success of previous additions to the series. The old southern adage: "You wouldn't want to stoop to their level," doesn't help when your only answer is: "You want to bet." Ms. Michaels provides a vicarious experience and keeps her fans coming back for more.
Nikki is suffering from guilt, even though she brought the members of the Sisterhood to her adoptive mother's attention; she feels the strain of an outsider. Now, her name has been chosen for the next revenge. Nikki believes her membership in the close knit group is under false pretenses as she has reunited with her life's partner without telling her friends. Taking a vacation, Nikki leaves her law firm in the hands of Allison Bank, a replacement for her beloved childhood companion.
Allison betrays her employer for a chance at the big time, and the Sisterhood convenes. In the meantime, Paula Woodley, a Washington wife, is almost beaten to death by her husband. Now Nikki mission becomes twofold, defeat Allison and regain her life's work and help Paula Woodley put an end to the torture she has endured during her marriage.

Book Description

They Can Run, But They Can't Hide From The Sisterhood. Once upon a time there were seven very different women who had been broken but not beaten by life. In those tough days of healing, they became the Sisterhood, a group of devoted friends who vowed to change their lives, empower themselves, and be there for each other, no matter what. Now, they're ready to answer the call for the woman who started it all, Myra Rutledge.

Five years ago, Myra's pregnant daughter was killed by a hit-and-run driver—the playboy son of an ambassador with diplomatic immunity. Myra was left to grieve while the murderer was free to return to his lavish lifestyle with no fear of ever having to pay for his crime. But not for much longer. As the air turns crisp the Virginia hills around Myra's lovely old farmhouse, the Sisterhood has gathered for a little creative planning, and what they have in mind is a gift for Myra of long-awaited and very sweet revenge…

5 out of 5 stars "R" is for Revenge.......2007-07-22

Read how Fern Michaels captures Revenge with a capital "R" in her Sisterhood series. It's Myra's turn to get revenge for the death of her daughter and they come up with a plan that the bad guy well deserves and changes his life forever. Michaels' masterful writing makes it hard to put the book down.

1 out of 5 stars Boring!.......2007-07-17

Judging by the summary on the audio book, I was hoping that there would be some captivating and intriguing "revenge". Rather there was this improbable situation of physical abuse carried out by old ladies. This was my first experience with this author and I do not care to read more by her.

4 out of 5 stars Closure.......2007-06-11

For Myra Ruthledge, the hit-and-run death of her beloved daughter and her unborn child is the reason she formed The Sisterhood and put her immense fortune at their disposal. For seven years she has waited and now, it is her turn to execute retaliation on the man who took from her the child she loved.
Unable to take part in the early stages of her own revenge, aristocratic Myra takes to the road riding shot-gun in an 18-wheeler for Kathryn Lucas. This is one of the absurdly funny sequences that prevents Fern Michaels', "Vendetta" from being a parody of revenge. The little things keep this series moving as there is very little one can do, short of murder, to extract the vendetta these determine women desire.
Nash Black, author of "Qualifying Laps" and "Taxes, Stumbling Blocks & Pitfalls for Authors 2007."

Ages 12 and up. Best buds Tibby, Carmen, Lena and Bridget are back with their magical pair of shared jeans in Girls in Pants: The Third Summer of the Sisterhood. Each summer brings new and difficult challenges, as the perennially separated friends discover afresh this last season before college. Tibby struggles with the idea of close friend Brian becoming her boyfriend, and their fragile relationship is soon tested by a tragedy in her immediate family. Carmen doesn't know how to react when she finds out that her middle-aged mom is pregnant, and Bridget is unpleasantly surprised to be reunited with the boy who broke her heart two summers ago. Finally, Lena, still coming to terms with the loss of her first love, tries to convince her strict father that art school is a better career path than Greek restaurant management. But through every crisis, each girl is assured of the love and support of the created sisterhood when she pulls on the denim armor of the cherished, and by now, a bit fragrant ("Rule # 1. You must never wash the Pants.") Traveling Pants.

Full of homey platitudes about life, love and the pursuit of perfect jeans, Girls in Pants occasionally reads like a lengthy Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul entry. But often that's precisely the kind of friendly reassurance female readers are looking for, and fans of the wildly popular series who've journeyed every summer with the "Septembers" will find much to laugh and cry about in this volume. --Jennifer Hubert

Book Description

The Pants first came to us at the perfect moment. That is, when we were splitting up for the first time. It was two summers ago when they first worked their magic, and last summer when they shook up our lives once again. You see, we don’t wear the Pants year-round. We let them rest so they are extra powerful when summer comes. (There was the time this spring when Carmen wore them to her mom’s wedding, but that was a special case.)

Now we’re facing our last summer together. In September we go to college. And it’s not like one of those TV shows where all of us magically turn up at the same college. We’re going to four different colleges in four different cities (but all within four hours of one another—that was our one rule). We’re headed off to start our real lives.

Tomorrow night at Gilda’s we’ll launch the Pants on their third summer voyage. Tomorrow begins the time of our lives. It’s when we’ll need our Pants the most.

From the Hardcover edition.

5 out of 5 stars Another Great Read.......2007-06-27

I stayed up till 3 o'clock in the morning reading this book, it was so good. This 3rd installment in the sisterhood of the traveling pants series was a great, easy summer read. Ann Brashares did another fabulous job on this novel. Once again this one, tells the story of the four girls as they embark on new journeys in life. High school is over and the girls are saddend by the fact that this is their last summer together. Carmen gets a job taking care of Lena's grandmother and she convines the Kiligares to let her go back to Greece. Carmen finds out her mother is pregnant and Tibby helps deliver the baby, while having a strong relationship with Brian. Bridget goes to a soccer camp in Pennslyvania where she mets up again with Diana, her soccer friend, and Eric, former coach whom she has fallen in love with. Bridget gets back to gether with Eric, and things work out great. Lena is caught up with her job and wants to go to art school, which her father doesn't approve of, so she works to get a scholarship and succeeds. Overall this book was another great book written by a great author. You should definitely read this series!

5 out of 5 stars Fast read!!.......2007-04-28

I loved the second and third books of the Sisterhood. (I had to wait for a bit until the fourth one came out but loved that one just as much.) Brashares's writing flows so smoothly - it's a fantastic and realistic take on girls' lives. I'm just heartbroken that this series has come to an end. Other suggested books to get you through the summer: Sunshine by NSLee Sunshine, Stargirl (Readers Circle) by Jerry Spinelli.

4 out of 5 stars Girls in Pants.......2007-04-05

I love the Sisterhood of the Traveling pants books, I can relate to the problems dealing with friends and family. I bet other people will feel the same way after reading this book. Although this was a good book, it wasn't the best out of the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants series. This book has major suspense. I couldn't put it down because I wanted to know what would happen next in the girls' lives. I recommend this book to people who loved the first two books and, to peolple who love to laugh!

5 out of 5 stars Girls in Pants Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants.......2007-04-01

I was pleased that the books just keep getting better and better as the series goes along, I can't wait to read the next one. Awesome read. Highly recommend this series of books.

4 out of 5 stars Abagayle Johnson's Review.......2007-03-09

I liked this book because of the exciting parts in it. Carmen's mom, Christina, is going to have a baby. Bridget goes to a soccer camp to coach a team of her own. When she arrives she finds an unexpected surprise.
Bridget, Lena, Carmen, and Tibby graduate from high school. They have only one summer left before they go off to college. Bridget goes to a soccer camp in Pennsylvania to coach a team. Carmen, Lena, and Tibby stay in Washington D.C. Carmen gets a job watching Valia, Lena's grandmother. Lena's father wanted her close so he made her move. Lena goes to art classes to improve her artistic skills. Tibby gets a job working at a movie theater.
I would recommend this book to someone who enjoys reading about a strong bond between friends and one very special pair of pants. There is also a little bit of romance in the book that I think makes it so wonderful. This is one of the greatest book I have ever read and I know that you will love it to.
This book in my opinion was better than the first and second books. It also had more action and suspense in it which I think makes it better.
