Great Book.......2007-09-15
My son who is 2.5 years old loves the book and we read it about 10 times a night.
Loves reading.......2007-08-27
My little absolutely loves these books. I have to read one or more of the everyday.
Average.......2007-08-15
This is a cute book, but my 10 month old daughter isn't that crazy about it. She has other books she likes much more.
Love Love Love!.......2007-08-09
I purchased this book for my son when he was 15 months old and he loves this book. He brings it to me to read to him over and over again. The illustrations are fun, he loves the song, and he knows all the body parts now. Many times I have seen him flipping through the book on his own "studying" the pictures. Given I don't usually pay to buy new books that cost more than a dollar or two, this one was definately worth it!
Buy "Where's My Belly Button" instead.......2007-06-13
This is merely a verbatim book version of the old playschool song "head and shoulders, knees and toes, knees and toes . . " It could be made a bit more worthwhile if the art was engaging or dynamic in some way, but it's blah (think Precious Moments meets Charlie Brown) and does little to enhance a young childs perception of where to find his/her head, shoulders, knees . . well you get to idea.
Product Description
Dr. John Corso's entertaining yet serious non-fiction book, Stupid Reasons People Die, illuminates why thousands of people die in the prime of life, from easily preventable causes, and how you can avoid becoming one of them. This is not another "eat-right, get-fit, lose-weight" guilt trip. Nor is it "twenty more secrets that your doctor doesn't want you to know." Engaging and comprehensive, you will learn the things that actually work. The state-of-the-art knowledge, imaging, medications and more, that identify and stop our most common killers before they can hurt us, all presented by a straight-talking doctor with two decades experience on the front lines of medical practice. Vital tests and treatments too often remain unknown and unused by most people because they are not on their menu of medical benefits and may never be mentioned by their physicians. With stinging candor and wry humor, this compelling page-turner lays out exactly which screenings and treatments you should consider and how to gain the control and knowledge needed to get the best that modern medicine has to offer. This book is a survival guide, a get-smart, take-charge, how-to book on diffusing our own medical time bombs. When someone dies before their time from heart attack, stroke, cancer, or other natural cause, it represents a failure on the part of the patient, doctors, and healthcare system to detect disease and intervene when it is easily curable. The book explores why we fail so often, and exposes the blind spots and traps inherent in our healthcare system, our culture, and in our own minds. It shows how to make sure you and your loved ones avoid them, offering a logical yet radically different view from what most of us believe to be healthy vs. unhealthy establishing how we focus our efforts towards longevity on all the wrong things.
Customer Reviews:
Straight and to the Point and a must have.......2007-06-13
This book is written with the patient / health-consumer in mind. Finally giving us straightforward answers to how we CAN take care of our health and take our care into our own hands by being informed. Letting patients know that THEY have the right to ask questions, demand respect. The cattle auction speed at which the public is pushed through their medical visits makes you feel like your worry doesn't matter, so you get tired of the cycle and end up never going back to a doctor, which can lead to devastating results. The book is great in its serious humor, a tell it like it is approach. I recommend this book for anyone wanting to prevent those serious illnesses that kill...which would be most everyone. I have passed mine along to all my family members to read. I'm not selling it though, I'm keeping it to check in once in awhile as a reminder!
Staying Alive in Oregon.......2007-06-13
The best written medical book around. Not only is it written so that the layman can understand it, but it is written with a humorous slant that makes the reader want to keep turning the pages. Pay attention to what this book is telling you and you'll be around for a lot more years. Thanks for writing a medical book that is understandable and with down to earth common sense.Stupid Reasons People Die, An Ingenious Plot For Defusing Deadly Diseases
Keeping Me Alive.......2007-06-11
How refreshing to read the words of a true professional who really cares about people! His patients are so lucky to have him as their physician. Dr. Corso's approach in presenting medical information in a very people friendly manner, allows everyone to truly become educated on these medical issues. His humor clearly comes through as you read the book. I recommend this book to anyone who really wants to help themselves live full and healthy lives.
A solidly practical, no-nonsense guide.......2007-06-10
Medical doctor John Corso puts his twenty years of professional experience to paper in Stupid Reasons People Die: An Ingenious Plot for Defusing Deadly Diseases, a thorough condemnation of the modern healthcare system's erosion of the quality, time, and rewards of medical practice. Chapters discuss how to avoid becoming a hostage of the insurance industry, a logically critical perspective of "all natural" treatments, advice for protecting oneself or spotting the warning signs of diseases that can be prevented or successfully treated, and much more. Specific common killers that are easily prevented, detected early, or treated, include brittle bones (especially in women), sleep apnea, and many cancers from colon cancer to prostate cancer, breast cancer, and others. A solidly practical, no-nonsense guide to avoiding senseless disease or medicine-related death in one's prime. Stupid Reasons People Die carries the highest possible recommendation, as reading it just might save one's life.
A Good Read for Proactive Health Care Consumers.......2007-04-11
Dr. Corso's does 3 things well in his book. He describes complex medical conditions in a straightforward manner with simple language. He explains how the relationship between patients, doctors, and their health insurers has become warped. Finally, he provides a strategy that we can all use to take control of our health care and make informed decisions to maximize our health. This is a good read for someone who wants to make sense of how to be proactive in health care.
Book Description
In I Will Not Die an Unlived Life, one of the most charismatic teachers and thinkers of today speaks from her heart. Twenty years ago, faced with a life-threatening illness, Dawna Markova began a journey of rediscovery. This book follows her path to finding deeper meaning in life. As she points out, people can continue to feel powerless and live habitual lives - or they can make the choice to follow their passion. "In a similar way to A Gift from the Sea, the readers of this book are invited to accompany me on a journey to come to know more intimately the value and purpose of their lives." - Dawna Markova
Customer Reviews:
EXTREMELY USEFUL AND INSPIRATIONAL.......2007-04-21
This is one of the few books I recommend to my clients on a regular basis. Dawna is an inspirational writer with a real handle on how to break through your resistance to living your purpose. Pamela D. Blair, Author The Next Fifty Years: A Guide for Women at Mid-Life And Beyond
Life Changing.......2005-11-15
Profound. That's about it in a nutshell. Friends have picked this book up at my house and then have gone out and bought their own copy. The words just wash over me and are calming to my soul, almost meditative - absolutely not preachy. I read the poem or at least say the words, "I will not die an unlived life" everyday.
I Will Not Die an Unlived Life.......2005-09-10
Stories and questions to ponder will inspire one to think about what kind of a life you are living.
I Will Not Recommend This Book.......2005-05-21
As an avid reader of self improvement books, I have to say that I was disappointed in this book. Let me say that I believe every book has purpose and meaning, just like every author. Unfortunately I found this book was somewhat negative to me, that it did not uplift me. Someone else may benefit from this book but it may depend on what they are ready to hear and how far they are on their path. At least that is my opinion. If I feel a book speaks to my soul I keep it in my private collection, if a book appears to be aligned with where a friend may be in their lives I pass it on and some I donate to the library hoping another person finds it when they need to hear its' message. I could not bear to donate this book to the library because I felt that uncomfortable with it! I didn't want to pass it on to anyone at all. I would recommend anything by Wayne Dyer, Eckhart Tolle, Don Miguel Ruiz, Doreen Virtue and Carolyn Myss. I would also recommend "Divine Demons" by Carla Berg (who also happens to be another person who spent time alone in nature to contemplate her life and life in general). This book I just can't recommend.
This book is truly a gift from God!.......2004-09-17
I love this book! I don't want to put it down once I started reading it. I brought it with me wherever I went. It is also one of the few books that I would re-read and also make book synopsis for regular reviews. Her words are those that you would want to keep in your heart all the time as reminders and companions. Wonderfully written, with stories that left me touched, moved and inspired.
Rage, fear, denial and inertia that were permanent blocks to me are now openings for passion. I am thankful to Dr Markova for her insights and her dedication to the world for knowing ourselves so that the gift God has blessed us with can be shared with the rest of the world. She is a demonstration of what passion looks like when its is claimed, nurtured and ignited!

Put together by a radio-show personality who worked closely with medium George Anderson, We Don't Die is well documented, well written, and seems veracious. It is one of the most convincing accounts of communication with the deceased. A gentle religious man, Anderson was almost committed to a state mental hospital at age 16 because of his "visions," but by his 20s, he was helping spirits communicate with friends and relatives still residing on this plane of existence. Approximately 15 percent of the time he's not correct, and this is attributed to mix-ups in human communication or ignorance on the part of the questioner. The information that living folks pass between each other is often relayed or perceived inaccurately, so it seems logical that some perceptive error would occur in communications from the incarnate--particularly since a lot of these are conveyed through images, symbols, and tactile impressions. Anderson's conversations make for an engrossing read not to be missed. --P. Randall Cohan
Book Description
This is the phenomenal true story of the world-renowned psychic medium George Anderson-the groundbreaking book that first brought afterlife experience into the light. For over 12 years Joel Martin documented evidence of Anderson's powers-the ability to reach 'the other side'-and repeatedly astonished believers and skeptics. This is the book of those universal visions, the inspiring messages of hope, truth, and peace, and a glimpse into eternity to answers to the unfathomable questions about life and death.

Deceived.......2007-06-03
How easy are people deceived they rather believe this book than the bible he says there is no hell funny Jesus talks about hell in the bible in Mathew 25 Jesus says these shall go into everlasting fire so I don't know who was giving George Anderson the visions but they were not from Jesus his books are full of errors and are of the devil.
An Amazing Man and a REAL medium.......2007-05-17
In 1995, following the death of my son, I traveled to Long Island to meet with George Anderson. At the time of my trip, I owned a small angel store. One of my customers had just lost her husband so the two of us flew to NY to meet with Mr. Anderson. He knew nothing about either of us, not our names or where we were from. He didn't know we had flown across the country praying for a sign, a connection, a message, ~anything from beyond. George Anderson picked us individually out of an audience at separate times. Both my customer and I had astounding experiences of those who had passed over. My son and her husband both came thru with messages, specific to each of us. I wrote a chapter about the experience in a book recently published, Blessings in the Mire. Anyone that knows me, knows that I was not inclined to believe in mediums, psychics, healers, and the likes, and that for the most part I think most of this is charlatans out to make a buck with their peddled wares. George Anderson changed my mind. He is a very gifted man, with an amazing life story to tell. In this book, We Don't Die, he speaks of how painful his childhood was as a result of his "visions" in his youth. Believe me, because it's true. Get this book, and then if you are in need of spiritual guidance, seek him out. I have long since moved on and no longer have my angel store; now I write books about it! But when I returned to my angel store after the NY trip and meeting with George Anderson, I called the publisher and ordered a crate of, We Don't Die, which I sold in record time. And if you want the detailed account of our profoundly impactful experience feel free to buy Blessings in the Mire.
Superb Book. Loved This Book & Everyone I Gave This Book To Loved It!.......2007-04-21
Goerge Anderson is incredible and he has clearly made a difference in the hearts and minds of those he has touched. A gifted medium and a person of kindness, I found Joel Martin's "We Don't Die" to be inspirational as well as informative. It's a wonderful book for the believer as well as the skeptic. I couldn't put the book down.
Proof of Eternal Life.......2007-04-10
I read this book years ago when I was doubting a meaning in life and everything felt worthless. It gave me hope and provided inspiration for my journey. Must read.
I thought it was very moving.......2007-03-22
The book was so touching and moving that it warms the heart.

One of the best........2007-09-18
I love this book and rank it high on my list (along with Winning Nice - another great read I just did a review on)...I LOVE this book because it's so easy to read, you can flip through the tips (they are all about 1-3 pgs long) and the insights he offers are amazing and so easy to use in your everyday life. I buy this book for everyone I know when they are coming on a landmark event in their life or need some inspiration. Get it!
Useful.......2007-08-05
I thought the book was fantastic,. Very easy to read. Finished it in one shot 2 hours.
Lots of good lesson 1. You dont have to finish a book just because you bought it! was the most useful to me. I always felt guilty everytime i bought a book and it was a bad choice.
Loved almost all the chapters. Probably some of them are repetitive but felt good to be reminded again.

very good book. read it after reading the saint, surfer and ceo.
Your family will if you waste $16 on this book!.......2005-11-17
I did not read the book but just flipped through it and I felt like stating my opinion.
The book is just a collection of commonsense advices cloaked in quotations from scriptures. You don't need a $16 book to tell you
1. Have a mentor (My Note: No you dn't need one)
2. Carry a book with you all the time (My Note: meaningless advice)
etc

Power of Perspective.......2004-08-08
Robin Sharma, the Author says: "When you live your truth, your dreams beat a path toward your doorstep". A practical solution to create a sound Life and strikingly balance life filling in the gaps with humility. Robin refers to his father's words that a tree that has most fruits is that which bends to the ground. And though there are some exceptions he have found in his own experience that it is true-the people who know the most, who have achieved the most, and have lived the most, are also the people closest to the ground. In a word, they are humble. There is something special about being in the presence of a person who is humble. Robin sharma thinks that practicing humility shows that you respect others and reminds us that there is something for us to learn. It sends a signal to those around you that you are open to receiving the gift of their knowledge and listening to what they have to say. The book is door to exceptional life and live life to the fullest with a purpose and attain peace. The book is indepth wisdom with absolute life changing solutions to cope with life's trials, challenges, frustrations and so on. As Robin Sharma recently visited India in preparation for the production of 'The Monk who sold his Ferrari' as a major motion picture, Robin reminded in his speech that wherever in the world he went, he found human beings struggle with same challenges, same longings. All people are part of one great family with invisible ties. Thus, peace is at your own doorstep and Robin Sharma's books are real 'Gem Picks' - Yeah, sure you can surf his website too and hear his Gem voice too! Good Pick & Great Message.
Book Description
Here is a daily meditation book that addresses the need for humor in Twelve Step living. Each entry takes a humorous, ironic, or rueful look at such aspects of recovery as denial grandiosity, gratitude, and change. By turns irreverent and provocative, this little book can cause a lot of laughter and perhaps even aid in recovery.
Customer Reviews:
Just What The Doctor Ordered......for me.......2007-02-12
I have several daily meditations I read and will now include this in my morning readings. I need laughter and have a pretty good sense of humor. I don't take life too seriously, it is what it is and I except that if it isn't something I have no control over and can't change. Some of the things I can't control I find a lot of humor in. This book is awesome. I can relate so many of these thought provoking quirps and it's healthy humor that lightens the load of everyday living (for me). I just purchased several more for sponsees and friends. In my opinion it is good reading whether your in recovery or not.
Best Devotion Book on Market for Telling the Truth.......1998-11-01
I've had this book since it came out. I like it so much and it makes me look at the truth of recovery and our addictions in such a light that I've become my best joke. I like it so much that I've given it away a couple times a year and need to order another one or two. I keep it in the bathroom and even my non-recovering friends comment on it.
A light but useful backup for your main daily meditation.......1997-11-29
This light and breezy little daily meditation guide would be more aptly called a daily passing thought guide, but often has humorous or insightful little blurbs unlike the stuff seen anywhere else. It makes a nice counterpoint to weightier material, although the brief comments can have loads of mental mass if they catch you at the right moment in your recovery. As a regular user of five daily meditation guides (call me eager in recovery!) I wouldn't want this to be my only food for thought on any given day, but it's a great side-dish. I've bought it as a gift for others who might shirk from more ponderous volumes, and it's been well-received. There's a definite codependency flavor to most of the quotes and commentary. Worth checking out!

Book Description
We are all too aware of the damage poisons can have on our bodies. These ailments find their way into us, invading us, infecting us, and spreading throughout us until the illness is felt all over. There are spiritual poisons that work this way as well, except these ailments invade another kind of body-the spiritual body of Christ. Like the diseases of our physical bodies, these diseases slow the body down, crippling it to function at less than capacity. They limit what the body can do and the effectiveness it can have. If not treated, these diseases can lead to death.
Why Churches Die looks at the body's diseases and reflects on the corresponding spiritual ailment. Mac Brunson and Ergun Caner practice the science of spiritual forensics to prevent churches from unnecessary illness and premature death.
Customer Reviews:
why churches die.......2007-01-16
My church is currently at an impasse. Either they will succeed or fail. It was during this difficult time that I found this book, after doing an online search on the subject of churches dying.
If you have ever gone to a church and watched it fall apart, then this book is for you. If you have ever had people at church tell you "this is how it is, just deal with it" and grew frustrated after reading the Bible and the church in Bible times doesn't match the church you go to now, then this book is for you.
This book opens with several church scenarios that will seem familiar to anyone who goes to church. Caner and Brunson use the Bible frequently to talk of common church problems. While their treatment is not explained as well as I had hoped, this book is a great read on the most common problems. The book excerpt shows you what the chapters cover. My only problem with this book is that it doesn't entirely explain forgiveness very well, or the process of it. It just says to forgive. In most instances in my own life I have to give problems to God before I can begin to forgive; this is because I (like most people) have a very hard time forgiving others themselves. Otherwise, this book is very recommended; it talks about issues that I have heard many people and many books tell people like me to "just deal with." A must read.
The sickness in today's Christendom.......2007-01-10
The authors are well experienced to write about this subject with 25 years of small and large church Pastoring behind them.
Easily read, entertaining but pointed.
Perhaps best for Church members concerned about the impotence of Christianity today - the Pastors of these Churches are either well aware of their problems, or are blind to them - one of the major reasons why Christianity has little strength.

It's never comfortable to read, or even think, about grief. And Love Never Dies is many things--eloquent, sweet, touching, and powerful--but it is definitely not an easy read. Sandy Goodman has taken brave steps past Kübler-Ross's work (On Death and Dying), and here she challenges us to open ourselves to a different set of stages that she labels numbness, unrelenting pain, searching, and reinventing. She writes with comforting openness about pretending that she was progressing through the standard stages, was "getting over" the death of her son, and was searching for a more clearly defined faith. She also is frank about the real need to continue acknowledging birthdays as well as the anniversary of death, and provides a few specific suggestions for friends to help those going through grief, such as asking, "How are you really doing since [he] died," instead of merely, "How are you?"
Each chapter closes with a short message in bold print, written from the point of view of Goodman's dead son, Jason. She clarifies in the introduction that this is not channeling or automatic writing, merely her best guess as to what he might have to add to her own thoughts. Regardless of your point of view on these additions, it is clear that Jason is continually present to his family.
While the particular focus of the book relates to parental grief, much of it is both useful and appropriate for anyone dealing with a powerful loss. --Jill Lightner

Love Never Dies.......2003-01-09
After my daughter passed in June 2002 I could not understand why at some moments I was still able to feel the same relationship of Love and Closeness that my daughter and I had always shared. It was as if she was still with me. There were times of deep sorrow mostly but there was always that profound Love. It wasn't until I ended up on Sandy Goodman's website somehow and she so thoughtfully replied to me that I was guided to this miraculous healing book and understood why.
It was everything I needed and more. It validated Love is eternal. Love truly never dies and it was Sandy Goodman I have to thank for bringing me to this realization through the words of her son Jason. Thank you.
For anyone having to cope with sudden and unexpected loss.......2002-12-12
Love Never Dies: A Mother's Journey From Loss To Love is the memoir of Sandy Goodman, a mother of twin sons, who lost one when he was 18 due to an accidental electrocution. Love Never Dies is a compelling and heartfelt story of learning to bear terrible loss, and of finding ways to remember the joy and happiness a loved one brought without being overwhelmed in grief. Love Never Dies is profound in its subject, moving in its presentation, and very highly recommended reading -- especially for anyone having to cope with the sudden and unexpected loss of a loved one.

This new book from Lost Borders Press is the story of two worlds meeting, told on both a personal and an historical scale. The personal account recalls "the final crossing" of Steven Foster - one of the pioneers of modern-day wilderness rites of passage - from the perspective of the hospice physician who helped ferry him across. Interspersed with Steven and Scott's story is a more sweeping historical view of how the rites of passage movement and the hospice movement have converged. "The practice of Living and Dying".......2006-12-07
The Final Crossing is an exquisite writing weaving allegory, Mayan culture, Native American wisdom and rites of passage with the real life death journey of Steven Foster. Steven's life was dedicated to the practice of dying to the past, in order to live a full and magnificent life. He with his beloved wife Meredith founded the School of Lost Borders. A wilderness school dedicated to providing a safe space in the natural world for people to participate in a "Vision Quest" ritual of dying to the old and rebirth of the new based on Native American teaching.
In this book Scott brings the world of Hospice and Rites of Passage together. It is at times a tearful journey of a man walking through his last months of life on this earth; describing the process of closing one's life, denial, hope, anger and acceptance. As Hospice physician, Scott provides the secure space for this journey to unfold.
