    Book Description

The insider: The Police on tour photographed by guitarist Andy Summers. In the early 1980s, The Police went on tour accompanied by a photographer who documented the band behind the scenes in a series of candid and striking black and white photos. This talented photographer also happened to be the band's guitarist, Andy Summers. Yes, it's true--the man responsible for the guitar lick from "Every Breath You Take" was not only the backbone of one of the most popular bands of all time, he also possessed a visual gift for composition and mood that allowed him to capture the spirit of The Police better than anyone else could have.

This book, somewhere between photojournalism and an illustrated diary, follows The Police around the globe between 1980 and 1983. From the American West to Australia to Japan, Summers recorded not only the band members rehearsing and partying--the proverbial sex, drugs, and rock and roll--he also photographed fans, landscapes, still lifes, and passersby in a reportage style reminiscent of Henri Cartier-Bresson and Robert Frank. Containing over 600 photos and filled with diary-style entries, I'll Be Watching You is a sumptuous volume beating with musical energy, nostalgia, and atmospheric beauty. A must for photo buffs and Police fans alike. Collector's edition features: * Limited to 1500 copies, each numbered and signed by the artist * Packaged in a slipcase * Contains over 600 photographs personally selected from the photographer's archive of over 25,000 negatives (1980-83) * Most photos are previously unpublished, and many of them have never even been printed prior to this project

    Book Description

    "I'll be watching you . . ."
    the cryptic e-mail read.

Taylor Halstead, psychologist and successful radio personality, is terrified that she'll never be safe again. Coming on the heels of a series of tragic and terrible events, the e-mail sends chills racing up her spine. Her safe, secure world has already been violated by her cousin Stephanie's boyfriend, Gordon Mallory, in her own apartment. Only the door buzzer and Stephanie's intervening voice rescue her, but not before Gordon promises to return. Soon after, he is killed along with Stephanie in an inexplicable explosion aboard his yacht. Or is he?

The e-mail is just the beginning. The terror campaign escalates when an electronically disguised voice on Taylor's telephone threatens to kill her, and her life becomes a nightmare. It seems the only one she can turn to is attorney Reed Weston, her confidant, protector, and, ultimately, lover. But is Reed's determination to protect her enough to avert disaster? And can Taylor trust Gordon's identical twin, Jonathan, who always seems to show up when she least expects him?

Grief and dread unravel Taylor's sanity, playing tricks with her mind and heart. Someone out there wants her dead—a crazed fan or the troubled teenage boy she's been counseling or, impossibly, Gordon himself. His vow to return and those final menacing words—"I'll be watching you"—haunt her day and night. Whoever is out there is coming closer, and Taylor Halstead has nowhere to run and nowhere to hide.

    2 out of 5 stars A severe disappointment.......2007-06-27

First of all, I was shocked to find this book at a highschool library. Interestingly enough, I looked to see if it was there a year later. It was gone; the librarian had taken it off the shelf permanently.

Secondly, the story has a good plot line. BUT it could easily be summarized in this short paragraph:

A young woman almost gets raped and finds solace in a man who volunteers to help her get over her newfound paranoia by developing a romance with her, and, in short, all they do is have sex. ABOUT FIFTEEN TIMES.

But, of course, you know...that helps her. But it makes her stalker mad.

And then there are all the stalker bits, which get a little tedious, and the knight in shining armor, whose whole persona has been copy and pasted through so many books that it's not even suspenseful.

When you're finished, admittedly you've been sitting on the edge of your seat for a while despite the book's predictability and Happily Ever After.

But the story goes something like plot. Sex. Plot. Sex. Plot... (etc.)

And then at the very end when the woman has conquered her fear, she is in love with the man who helped her get over it and the last line of the book implies that they're about to go have sex.

    Again.

Personally, I thought that got really tiring, but I have to admit it was suspenseful, and the actual story was all right.

But as a 17-year-old girl, I was disappointed by the overall feel of the story. It was a typical weakened/vulnerable-female-finding-solace-in-a-male-and-their-relationship-and-her-strengthening-is-defined-by-sex story. Blahh.

2 out of 5 stars Didn't really do it for me.......2007-03-03

Unfortunately I just didn't really like this book. I've read all of Ms. Kane's books to date and I feel like she should just stick to the regency genre and leave the contemporary mystery/romances alone. I've found that in all of her contemporary novels everything just seems to work out too perfectly and the romance seems really blah.

This book was horribly predictable and cliche and it left me wishing I hadn't wasted the time to even pick it up. I knew right away who was stalking her and the romance part of this book seemed so contrived that it was really sad. We didn't get to become emotionally invested in these characters at all. One minute they meet, are incredibly attracted to each other (supposedly), and are expressing their undying love for each other without any sign of internal conflict at all. The dialogue was weak and didn't flow well and the mystery was tepid at best. And the whole date, place and time at the beginning of each section was annoying and distracting and didn't help the flow of the story at all.

I'm sorry to have to give Ms. Kane a bad review because I really have enjoyed many of her regency novels but this one just didn't do it for me.

3 out of 5 stars Good But Not Great.......2007-02-08

Just thought it was an average mystery. Very little romance. I'm not going to write a plot summary since so many on Amazon have already did that. I had problems getting into the characters. I just felt like she didn't truly explore them and get you to feel what they were feeling. I enjoyed some of the plot twists but one of the reviews here had kinda ruined it for me, but it was also easy to figure out. I liked the premise of the radio talk show psychologist host. I was hoping that Ms. Kane would go into that area more to heighten the mystery thriller part of the book. As for romance, there wasn't any build up to that and you didn't feel their instanteous attraction either. Just wasn't believable. I will definitely try another one of her books just because of her plot premise. Don't want to buy this book. This is strictly a library checkout book.

    4 out of 5 stars All-around good read.......2006-07-08

    BEWARE: Contains spoilers!!

I really enjoyed this book. It was one of those that you just don't want to put down once you start it.

The plot was excellent. I was thoroughly hooked. I was pretty sure right from the start that Gordon hadn't been killed in the boat explosion. I sort of expected it from just reading the back cover. So I wasn't surprised he was the bad guy. Still...she does an excellent job making the reader wonder if just maybe it is Jonathan. It was the way she wrote the sections with the bad guys thoughts. They were so vague and and written in a way that it really sounded like Jonathan. The fact that Gordon was Dennis was a total surprise. I never expected that.

I loved Taylor/Reed. They were so great together. And what I really enjoyed about this book was that they had a "normal" romance...if you discount the bad stuff going on. I just mean that in a lot of books, guy and girl meet, fall in lust, screw like bunnies, fight their real feelings, plot resolves, they break up, then finally admit feelings and get back together. But in this book, the characters meet, date, fall in love, and stay together. I enjoyed that.

    Rating: 4 / 5

    4 out of 5 stars Overly coincidences.......2006-05-16

Albeit the book's well and fast paced and will have you on the hook, it has one too many coincidences. The phone calls at the exact time and the intercom buzz exactly before the attack, among others.

The book is also very predictable. Since the first quarter of it you'll have an inkling of who's the bad guy. But since the middle of it you'll be sure, but you'll've to keep reading to know how he did it. What I'm trying to write here is that this book has its botches but even with those you won't be able to close the book till you finish it.

      Book Description

Full of the menace of long-hidden secrets  and the darkness of the human heart, I'll Be Watching You is a chilling tour de force  by Victoria Gotti, author of the critically acclaimed legal thriller The Senator's Daughter.

Rose Miller is a best-selling novelist with a seemingly perfect life: a devoted and wealthy husband with his eye on a gubernatorial nomination, a splendid country mansion, and an adorable daughter. But Rose has something else too--a shadowy stalker who sends her blood red roses with threatening notes that hint at Rose's hidden past . . . a life she thought she had buried forever.

Who is stalking Rose? Nearly everyone is a suspect. It could be Dario, her ruthless and controlling publicist, whose crush on Rose is getting a little out of hand. Or Dimitri, her devilishly handsome ex-lover, now a millionaire hotel baron with his own reasons for wanting revenge. Or even her own father-in-law, James Miller, a sinister man who will stop at nothing to protect his family's secrets.

Terrified, Rose enlists the help of a veteran detective, John Falcone, who begins to uncover a shocking pattern of threats and violence, all of which seem to center around the beautiful celebrity author and her powerful, wealthy family. When Rose's best friend is murdered in a bizarre ritual drawn from a scene in one of Rose's own novels, Falcone's suspicions about her "perfect life" become even deeper, and the terror Rose thought she could hide begins to spin out of control.

Despite her desperate efforts to protect herself and her innocent daughter, Alexis, Rose finds herself being pulled deeper and deeper into a web of old hatreds and new rivalries that threaten first her happiness, then her life.

      5 out of 5 stars Great Thriller!!.......2003-01-06

I tell ya, I got this book at B&N on their bargain book rack for [a good price] a couple years ago. I took it home seeing it was a stalker thriller and knowing I would love it. I was right!! This book had everything, suspense, fright, mystery, a twisted plot, and even romance (even though I am not fan of any kind of romance novels this worked!). Rose, Dimitri,.....you will just have to read it and find out for yourself. The ending is something great, which alot of books lack and are usually a letdown. I am going to go out and buy her first book "The Senator's Daughter" or maybe I can find it online for a good price!! Thank you Miss Gotti for giving me a great and entertaining book to read (since I LOVE to read!!). Buy it Buy it Buy it!

      4 out of 5 stars "I'll Be Watching You" - Great Storytelling!.......2000-06-26

You may say what you like about Victoria Gotti as a writer, I enjoy her books a great deal. Like millions of other Americans, I find cross country airplane trips to be an opportunity to lose myself in the kind of torrid pot boilers one's former English teacher or mother-in-law would tsk tsk over (in my case, she's both!), and to forget, for awhile, the rigors of modern literature (read, at least in part, so I'll be able to maintain my educated bourgeois status in conversation with my peers). A recent trip from Seattle to Baltimore and back was just such an occasion, and I was grateful to have Ms. Gotti's second book, "I'll Be Watching You," along as a companion on this flight. Okay, so she's not Jane Austin, or even Joan Didion. Victoria Gotti is, however, a great story-teller whose books are a welcome addition to the ranks of airport fiction. I mean, okay, I started "I'll Be Watching You," as I had her first book, "The Senator's Daughter," with some quibbles about the writing. The juxtaposition of the word "lovely" with the markedly unlovely word "flaccid" as in "her lovely, flaccid body" made me pause for a few seconds, for example. The repeated use of the word "shattered" seemed peculiar on occasion (some things just don't shatter when they break). But it was not far into the book that Gotti the story teller took over - I started hearing, and appreciating her voice, as if we were sitting together in her sun-lit study with its massive Ethan Allen oak desk, she in her Donna Karan loungewear, me in my casual Armani, sipping amareto from Damask cups.... she resumes her story as the late afternoon drifts on, her piercing hazel eyes growing distant as the story takes hold and I put my feet up and lean back into the luxury of the Eames padded leather chair , lost in her voice, the slowly setting sun now spreading a golden glow over the palatial grounds of the surrounding estate.... The world of the rich and powerful is an intriguing place when seen through Victoria Gotti's eyes, and I was delighted to place my advanced order for her new book, "Superstar," today - the plot description sounds great! I can't wait for the next time I fold my lanky six and a half foot frame into an airplane seat obviously designed for people about half my size, and, with my Diet Coke and my bag of Planter's peanuts arrayed on the plastic tray in front of me, I can dive into a totally different world, suffused with comfort, luxury, passion.... and terror!

      3 out of 5 stars A very interesting book.......1999-10-20

I found the book to be easy to read, and the ending was one that could be let to one's imagination. . I was not totally taken in by the book, but was still glad that I had read it. If you like captivating love stories that touch your heart, you might read stolen Moments by Barbara Jeanne Fisher. If you liked this book you will also love Stolen Moments by Barbara Jeanne Fisher. I intended to give the book a quick read, but I got so caught up in the story that I couldn't put the book down. From the very beginning, I was fully caught up in the heart-wrenching account of Julie Hunter's battle with lupus and her growing love for Don Lipton. This love, in the face of Julie's impending death, makes for a story that covers the range of human emotions. The touches of humor are great, too, they add some nice contrast and lighten things a bit when emotions are running high. I've never read a manuscript more deserving of being published. It has rare depth. Julie's story will remind your readers that life and love are precious and not to be taken for granted. It has had an impact on me, and for that I'm grateful."

"Stolen Moments " which is reminiscent of "Love Story" is written with so much sensitivity that it made me want to cry. Like"Love Story" it is about a dying woman who has found true love. It is the love story of the nineties."

4 out of 5 stars Very entertaining... Suprised to know she could write.......1998-12-12

I too read the Senators Daughter first which prompted me to purchase her second book. I have been amazingly suprised at how well she wrote. Although either book may never be a #1 seller, both books were very entertaining and very fast reading. A great "airplane" or "wasting a weekend" away reading book.

4 out of 5 stars If You Like Thrillers..........1998-07-20

...You'll Enjoy I'LL BE WATCHING YOU!

And if you read THE SENATOR'S DAUGHTER and wondered if Victoria Gotti was a one-book wonder, you'll be pleased to know that that first hit wasn't an accident. This savvy, articulate lady really CAN create interesting characters and tell a dynamic tale.

She has woven an intricate tale that, at one point, I was sure I had a figured out and then two chapters later changed my mind. Such mental gymnastics make for an intriguing read and, I hope, a sensational movie.

I also like the way she incorporates "real" New York into her story...and how she's left the Rose story open for the possibility of a sequel.

4 out of 5 stars AN AWARD WORTHY PERFORMANCE.......2005-01-18

Tony nominee and Obie Award winner Linda Emond gives another award worthy performance as she relates a story which is part every woman's nightmare and part every woman's dream.

How would you feel if you had already been the victim of an attempted rape and then opened your email one day to find a terrifying one line message: "I'll be watching you...."? Probably every bit as frightened as protagonist Taylor Haltead. A psychologist and radio talk show host Taylor is well familiar with the seamier side of life, and now it seems that this darkness may engulf her.

Cousin Stephanie's boyfriend, Gordon, attempted to violate Taylor in her own apartment. She was saved by the ringing of her doorbell. (When an attempted rape is the opening scene, you know you're in for a fast paced listen!) Not too long after this attack both Gordon and Stephanie are killed in a boating accident. Or, so it appears.

Taylor is being stalked, but by whom? Gordon does have a twin brother, Jonathan; might he be the one. Soon, Taylor is consumed by fear and runs to handsome attorney Reed Watson for protection, solace (and great sex). At this point, she doesn't know who she can believe or if that really matters because whoever is after her is coming closer and closer.

3 out of 5 stars Compelling mystery with a reluctant romance.......2006-10-18

Ten years after accusing her prominent step-father of murder, Kim returns to her hometown to take ownership of a bar willed to her by her recently deceased grandmother. As she sets about trying to renovate and reopen, it is clear that at least some of the residents would rather she vacate the bar and Florida swamp town permanently, particularly when she starts probing the suspicious death of her grandmother Elva.

One thing stands between her and the angry townspeople - estranged stepbrother Zell MacGregor who has always been attracted to Kim. As he fights his attraction and tries to honor his family loyalty, Zell and Kim fall into a very reluctant romance, as an unknown adversary lurks in the background trying to ensure that the swamp secrets remain a mystery.

Wainscott carves out a compelling romantic mystery giving new meaning to the adage that you can't return home.

4 out of 5 stars Good mystery and suspense, but..........2006-07-15

I give this book 4 stars because it was a good mystery with suspense. However, it doesn't pass for 5 stars because, although the romance was almost non-existent and I like more romance, what confused me was why Kim would apologize to Winn, when she was the injured party 10 years ago and present day. She was being harassed and violated, but nothing legally was done about it. No one apologized to her. Worse than that, Zell was supposed to love her, but kept quiet about the crimes against her even though he knew it was his family committing them. He lied on the stand about her which led to her having to leave her home in the first place! He never apologized or seemed to feel remorse for it. Talk about betrayal. The fact that actual crimes were committed was glossed over. I just didn't understand that. Otherwise, I liked the book. Try Now I see You instead - a much better and tightly woven story.

5 out of 5 stars Suspenseful until the end.......2005-06-24

A wonderfully written romantic suspense that will keep you glued to the pages until the very end. The characters are well developed as well as the sexual tension between the main characters.
I made the mistake of not reading this through from beginning to end and ended up having eerie dreams about gators. The suspense does not slow down as someone will stop at nothing to get Kim out of town, but why? Pulse pounding near death events will keep you riveted, continually asking who would want her gone so much to commit murder.
Once again, Tina Wainscott delivers an intriguing murder mystery that is nothing shy of being fantastic. I continue to look forward to reading her novels.

5 out of 5 stars Tina Wainscott can write a great suspense!.......2005-03-04

I picked this up not knowing anything about it, only that it was written by Ms. Wainscott. I was not disappointed. The story was really great and I loved how Kim, even with the blows her life threw her, she did not give up on her dream of owning her own bar. Ms. Wainscott described the characters to the point where it left no voids. I could really feel for Kim and found my eyes tearing up from the fact that she was so strong and relentless. The killer took me totally by surprise, which is what I love about a good suspense novel.

1 out of 5 stars characters that speak and act like middle school students.......2004-10-08

All sorts of bad guys running wild, and no one calls police because that would be tattling. Even the protagonist sassing back to someone by insulting his (...). This book is an odd thriller. I'm not sure who it would appeal to.
