The right and wrong answers.......2007-09-03
Though admittedly few people see much point in reading this book now that the final istalment of Harry Potter has already been read and is now safely tucked in our book-shelves, I beg to differ. I read Deathly Hallows before reading this book, and so knew all the answers to (most) questions, what drove me to buy the book was my uncontrollable curiosity. Being a fan of the website, I thought I'd help them out by buying the book, but what intrested me the most was the arguments. I don't care whether they guessed right or wrong, but how they came to those conclusions! 9/10 times the right answer doesn't matter, as long as you can back it up with sound reason and judgment, which is why I liked this book, and would still recommend it.
No point in buying it now.......2007-08-30
Not only were the predictions incorrect, Now that book 7 is out who would want to read this?
Must Read!!.......2007-08-27
After reading the final installment of Harry Potter I would def. say this a must read. First, it is a quick summary and primer of important info in the past six books. Plus, unless you are super obsessed or a literary genius there are bound to be a few things you learn in the book.
very pratical.......2007-08-23
it really does help to understand some questions you could have or did not
remember why this is there. Good to have before reading Vol.7
Well Researched Book.......2007-07-31
I bought this book just before Book 7 came out and really enjoyed it. While many of the assumptions in this book turned out to be false once I had read Book 7, it was nonetheless a well-researched book. The arguments for each stance they took - both pro and con - were plausible and quite believable and convincing. You could tell the authors had done their homework and really knew the world of Harry Potter. I think I may go back and read it again now that I know what really happens to see where they were spoton and where their ideas missed the mark. In any case, it is a great resource whether you have been a Harry Potter fan or are just discovering his world.

How To Go On Living When Someone You Love Dies.......2007-05-14
My favorite choice of books on dealing with the death of a loved one. Educates you on things to expect from grief, suggestions to make it through, and then ways to reinvest in life without your loved one.
Understand your grief........2006-11-10
After learning of this book through the Boulder,CO hospice organization, I have recommended it to three close friends. They all gave it in turn to other family members. Explanations of the grief process reassure the reader that they need not worry if they do not 'grieve' in the same way
others do. Much wisdom to be found here.
How to go on living when someone you love dies.......2006-03-11
This is very easy to read and very practical. The author has great insight into grief and gives much knowledge for men and women going through grief. The book not only deals with all phases of grief, but also looks at secondary losses as well.
I would highly recommed this book to anyone going through grief no matter how fresh the loss or the type of loss incurred.
How to Go On Living When Someone You Love Dies.......2005-09-22
I found the book to be very helpful to me in coping with the sudden loss of my Father. It helped me to confirm that I was not losing my mind.
How to go on Living when someone dies.......2005-09-15
Fresh in my grief, I found this a hard book to read. It has a lot of text book information and probably is very helpful later in grief. But, it reads like a text book and I found it hard to process when my grief was so fresh.

Read this before you file for a divorce.......2007-10-04
As an author of a divorce book, it might seem strange that I am recommending a book on how to save your marriage. But I firmly believe that a couple should do everything they can to try and save their marriage, if possible, barring any physical or mental abuse. Read this book before you file for divorce, if after reading it you still see divorce as your only option, at least you will know that you did everything in your power to save your marriage before getting a divorce.

Seven Secrets to a Successful Divorce
When Love Dies How to Save a Hopeless Marriage.......2007-09-06
I read the book and it's a good book, but the book did not save my marriage. My husband wants a divorce.
Makes you think, but hasn't totally changed my life.......2007-07-27
I bought this book because I was really struggling with my marriage, contemplating divorce, yes even as a Christian. I married someone 25 years older then me and I was 18 at the time. The generation difference affects soo many areas in our life and it was just too much for me. Anyhow I ordered this book when I was on my last string and it is very helpful. I highlighted so many things in this book and she is very direct and gives you very hard instructions. Maybe I need to reach that point of being changed but I was expecting this book to totally transform my life, but only God can do that. It is a great book and It gives great Biblical advice. I'd recommend it. I just need to be "transformed" ( those are my words, not anyone elses ) and then the advice in the book will be more useful. Get this book, it really could save your marriage.
Not captivating.......2007-06-13
I got the feel of "just suck it up and make it work" out of this book. That isn't what I was looking for. Do not waste your time on this book in less you are in need of a guilt trip.
If you are looking for a fabulous book, check out Conscious Divorce (I think by Susan Allison). It was incredibly helpful. I went to 3 councelors, church, joined community groups, and read & listened to every book I could get my hands on. The Conscious Divorce really helped me work through my dissions & problem.s
I wish you peace & happiness!
This book saved my marriage!.......2007-02-04
I seriously credit this book as the beginning step in saving my marriage. I read it with an open mind and it gave me a whole new perspective on my relationship. It gave me insight into myself and the way I viewed my marriage. It gave me hope and taught me to find a new respect for my husband. I believe this book can be the first step to a happier, healthier marriage -- I recommend it to anyone contemplating divorce or feeling like he/she is in a loveless marriage. (The book does reference God but it is not a religious, preachy type of book.)
Book Description
The day before Halloween 2004 was the last day on Earth for respected, well-liked college professor Fred Jablin. That morning, a neighbor discovered his body lying in a pool of blood in the driveway of Jablin's Virginia home. Police immediately turned their attentions to the victim's ex-wife, Piper, a petite, pretty Texas lawyer who had lost a bitter custody battle and would do anything to get her kids back. But Piper was in Houston, one thousand miles away, at the time of the slaying and couldn't possibly have been the killer . . . could she?
So began an investigation into one of the most bizarre cases Virginia and Texas law enforcement agencies had ever encountered: a twisted conspiracy of lies, rage, paranoia, manipulation, and savage murder that would ensnare an entire family—including two lethally close look-alike sisters—and reveal the shocking depravities possible when a dangerously disordered mind slips into madness.

They Always Forget about the Cell Phone Records!.......2007-09-09
Kathryn Casey just may be the finest True Crime writer today. In "Die, My Love," Casey profiles convicted murderer, Piper Rountree, who decided that losing custody of her three children during a bitter divorce was unacceptable. She gunned down her ex-husband in his own driveway in Virginia and then hopped an airplane back to Texas, wearing a ridiculous wig and flying under an airline issued ticket in her sister's name.
When police investigators began questioning those close to the family who knew about the contentious divorce between Rountree and her husband, Fred Jablin, several individuals suggested the police take a closer look at his ex-wife. Police departments in two states, along with a brilliant prosecution team, compiled an impressive mound of evidence and detailed a paper trail that spanned the country from Texas to Virginia and back again.
Although Rountree had once served as a defense attorney herself, she was both arrogant and uninformed when she assumed she would never be arrested, much less convicted. The most damning piece of evidence came in the form of cell phone records. While Rountree casually spoke to her 12 year old son and informed him she was on a business trip in Texas, she was calling from the very neighborhood in which her children resided with their father. (Damn. Forgot about those cell phone records!)
As is true of many murderers, Piper Rountree was not nearly as smart as she thought she was! In her arrogance, she decided that her children would be better off in her custody, even if that meant they grew up without a father. Also, let us not forget that she was willing to kill their father in the driveway of the family home... while her children slept inside. This is not the act of a loving mother. In her selfishness and need for control, she effectively robbed her children of not only their father, but their mother.
I have only two complaints about this book, and those are small. The title of the book, "Die, My Love," sounds like a cheap, dimestore novel meant to evoke a surge of emotion, even though it really does not make much sense once the story is told. There was no loss of love for Piper Rountree. She only felt hatred and murderous revenge. In addition, the cover of the book is completely unappealing. Although I find the two "bullet holes" an interesting touch, the whole of the cover appears cheap and lacking in inspiration. In fact, had Kathryn Casey not written this book, I doubt I would ever have picked it up or even read the back cover. Similarly, the photos in the center portion of the book could have been greatly improved. However, none of this detracts from the detailed research and excellent writing of which Kathryn Casey is a master. True Crime fans will not be disappointed. Kudos to Casey!
The Tie That Binds.......2007-07-21
Kathryn Casey produced an EXCELLENT story with the case of Piper Roundtree who was convicted of killing her estranged husband, Fred Jablin. Roundtree, despite efforts to establish an alibi proving otherwise, flew into Virginia from Texas and, in the wee morning hours, gunned down Jablin in his driveway and immediately flew back to Texas; all the while, the couples three children sleeping soundly in the beds inside the home.
And what was Piper's motive? Money? Maybe, but more than likely it was simply to regain custody of her three children whom Fred had obtained custody of in prior proceedings.
What is absolutely fascinating about this case is the tie between Piper and her sister Tina. It was Tina's identification that Piper used to purchase plane tickets and make reservations at hotels. And, all the while, it was Tina who was helping Piper dispose of evidence to cover her crime when Virginia Law Enforcement came knocking in Texas. This pair gives a whole new meaning to "brotherly love."
This is Casey's best work by far. I highly recommend reading this fast paced, attention grabbing story to all true crime fans!
You've got to read this one!.......2007-06-11
This is an exceptional book! Kathryn Casey is fast becoming one of the best true crime authors to date. Her research is precise and her abiltiy to take you through the whole case from beginning to end and make you feel as though you witnessed it yourself is amazing.
THE NEXT ANN RULE.......2007-06-02
After reading SHE WANTED IT ALL, i wondered if Ms.Casey could top that-and with DIE MY LOVE she delivers another great read, just enough details and a storytelling ability to keep you on the edge of your seat and keep you up late reading ! when is your next book coming out ? soon, i hope !
KC has done it again!!.......2007-05-18
Kathryn Casey has topped "She Wanted It All" with "Die, My Love". I didn't think anyone could be worse than Celeste Beard, but Piper Rountree takes the cake. Kathryn makes this story so compelling, and hard to put down. Great work KC, can't wait for your next book!

Yes, I recommend this book!.......2004-08-05
Often times children don't get their questions answered because the grown ups are trying to deal with their own loss and business and arrangements that must be taken care of.
It is helpful to know what to say and how to explain things to children.
This book helps parents find the words they will need. I also recommend a faith based video for the children, After the Tears, A Gentle Guide to Help Children Understand Death.
Grandparents can talk about death and grief........2000-03-10
When the topic of death comes into the conversation with children, it is very helpful to have thought about what I want to say beforehand. This book gave me the opportunity to be more prepared to answer my grandchildrens' questions about death in a relaxed and confident manner.

Really Understands.......2007-07-07
Of all the books I have read on this topic, this one is by far THE BEST.
This author really gets it. The author understands the emotions that the
one left behind goes through. He further gives excellent suggestions on
how you can best deal with those emotions.
I'm still crying, but at least I know it's OK.......2006-08-17
I think that this is the first book that I have read, that is truly meant for the person that's grieving. My husband has recently passed away from aggressive brain tumor, after two and a half years of fighting. We both were only 26, and not even three years married, when all of a sudden I was alone. I still don't understand why he died; I'm still angry and confused. But reading this book, helped me realized that I have a right to feel that way. That there should be no expectations from me, as to how am I grieving. The author goes on explaining in detail how the loss of a loved one, will emerge to be an individual journey. No two are the same. You should listen to your body and let yourself feel the pain, let yourself grieve...for as long as your body, mind and heart need it.
I would definitely recommend this book to anyone, who has lost a loved one. It would be a great book for those that know somebody, that's grieving and want to learn of the best way to help them with their process. - many very valuable lessons to learn.
I finally stopped Crying.......2001-12-21
I found this book when my lifepartner died two years ago. THis book helped me so much then and now, when certian days come along and I start feeling sad and don't understand. I am in a new relationship and still sometimes find myself missing my former life-partner and I realize through this book that it is entirely normal and to some degree expected.
I recommend this book to anyone who has lost someone they love. It will help you get a handle on your emotions and is very easy to read.
What is the "Love"? What is the "Alive#? -It's on this book........1998-12-03

It's never comfortable to read, or even think, about grief. And Love Never Dies is many things--eloquent, sweet, touching, and powerful--but it is definitely not an easy read. Sandy Goodman has taken brave steps past Kübler-Ross's work (On Death and Dying), and here she challenges us to open ourselves to a different set of stages that she labels numbness, unrelenting pain, searching, and reinventing. She writes with comforting openness about pretending that she was progressing through the standard stages, was "getting over" the death of her son, and was searching for a more clearly defined faith. She also is frank about the real need to continue acknowledging birthdays as well as the anniversary of death, and provides a few specific suggestions for friends to help those going through grief, such as asking, "How are you really doing since [he] died," instead of merely, "How are you?"
Each chapter closes with a short message in bold print, written from the point of view of Goodman's dead son, Jason. She clarifies in the introduction that this is not channeling or automatic writing, merely her best guess as to what he might have to add to her own thoughts. Regardless of your point of view on these additions, it is clear that Jason is continually present to his family.
While the particular focus of the book relates to parental grief, much of it is both useful and appropriate for anyone dealing with a powerful loss. --Jill Lightner

Love Never Dies.......2003-01-09
After my daughter passed in June 2002 I could not understand why at some moments I was still able to feel the same relationship of Love and Closeness that my daughter and I had always shared. It was as if she was still with me. There were times of deep sorrow mostly but there was always that profound Love. It wasn't until I ended up on Sandy Goodman's website somehow and she so thoughtfully replied to me that I was guided to this miraculous healing book and understood why.
It was everything I needed and more. It validated Love is eternal. Love truly never dies and it was Sandy Goodman I have to thank for bringing me to this realization through the words of her son Jason. Thank you.
For anyone having to cope with sudden and unexpected loss.......2002-12-12
Love Never Dies: A Mother's Journey From Loss To Love is the memoir of Sandy Goodman, a mother of twin sons, who lost one when he was 18 due to an accidental electrocution. Love Never Dies is a compelling and heartfelt story of learning to bear terrible loss, and of finding ways to remember the joy and happiness a loved one brought without being overwhelmed in grief. Love Never Dies is profound in its subject, moving in its presentation, and very highly recommended reading -- especially for anyone having to cope with the sudden and unexpected loss of a loved one.

not a great "true-crime" read.......2007-08-11
For such a horrific, disgusting crime, the book is bland and the author repeats the same information time and time again.
Unlike some of the great true crime writers like Anne Rule or Carlton Stowers, the reader does not get to know, or care about the family members of either victim or the killer. The victim, Colleen, remains a mystery-she was 19. I felt like you had no idea why a 19-year old woman would go off in the dark with a group of people wo had tormented her for months.
The story is sad and horrible but the book leaves a lot to be desired.
A love to die for book review for mrs. hexums class.......2006-10-02
A Love to Die for was a wonderful, yet mysterious book. Colleen Slemmer was murdered by Christa pike along with her boyfriend Tadaryl Shipp and Christa's friend Shadolla Peterson. Christa and Colleen never really got along. Why? Find out when you read the book. A jealous rage? Is Christa just evil? What seemed to be a walk in the park to smoke some weed while attending a job corps center to help regain their lives back after stupid mistakes in the past. But why would Christa murder Colleen? You'll have to find out for yourself. Along with pictures Patricia Springer has tons of information on what happend and deatailing words to go along with what is happening during the trials and the murder. If you like murder stories, true stories, this book would be great for you to read.
worst true crime book I've ever read.......2005-03-04
I think there must a school somewhere for true crime writers called "How to Write a True Crime Book in One Week or Less".
I suspect the author sat down one day and copied the trial transcripts and turned it in as a book.
She needs to read one of Carlton Stowers, Robert Graysmith, Robert Mayer's or Daniel Keyes true crime books and see what suspense and "page turner" means.
If you want gore in place of good writing you may like this book.
very good.......2003-03-12
that's my opinion. I like the style of Miss Springer.
I was very shocked about the vicious murder by the 3 who committed it.
P Springer does know how to tell a story. I could not lay this book aside. Its always nice to read the murderers get their punishment so me too could not believe the "luck" Peterson had. She was the one who told Pike to go for the kill (not that Pike needed that)I have to say I like it better when you hear more of someone's background and the writer did have some parts about that. But I wanted to know more about what had happened the months Colleen and Pike spent together. Why did Pike think colleen was after her boyfriend? so still questions.
groetjes Marlene
Not too bad.......2002-09-29
I liked the way the book was written, and I think that it is a good true crime book. Anyway, I don't like when I can feel the judgement of the writer in the book, and this is something I didn't like about this one. What's more I found the last few chapters a bit boring... anyway, I like it, even if not at all!
Book Description
When Love Dies is based on two rich sources of information gathered by the author. Karen Kayser first analyzes in-depth and revealing interviews with 49 spouses who recount their feelings, thoughts, and actions as they fell out of love with their partners. Chapters trace the slow dissolution of love and its impact on a marriage, from the onset of marital disaffection to its final stages. Kayser then incorporates data from a random sample survey, comparing troubled spouses with non-disaffected spouses and exploring the relationships among marital disaffection, psychological well-being, commitment, attribution, and gender. The book examines the concept of matrimony from broad theories of marriage as a social institution to the most specific nuances of spousal interaction. Kayser shows that by studying the dynamics that produce disaffection, partners are able to focus on ways to better understand what is needed to maintain love in marriage. Identifying the phases of disaffection, including significant turning points, can alert spouses and clinicians that it is time to confront problems of alienation. Clinical recommendations for repairing marriages are offered for each phase of the disaffection process. The book also provides a scale of marital disaffection that is of practical use to clinicians and researchers.

This is my second time reading this book and what can I say, I cried both times..I love it!!! One of the BEST books I've ever read!!!It is probably one of the saddest book out there as well. Don't Die, My Love is about Luke and Julie who had been childhood lovers and now is in high school and has a love bigger than anything..Luke is the football star quarterback and is madly in love with Julie and she is madly in love with Luke..One day what seems to be a little bump on the neck turned into a serious illness and soon Luke is put into the hospital. Julie, with nothing to do, but be by his side all the way despite of everything..Their love is so powerful and so sweet..This book is definitely GREAT and SAD, it makes your heart wrench..I HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone!! It is one that you won't regret reading!!!
P.S. Don't forget the Kleenex box=]
