In the last book in the A-LIST series (American Beauty: An A-List Novel (A-List #7)), the gang had finally graduated while discovering some juicy secrets. Cammie had discovered more information on what really happened to her mother. Sam was finally reunited with Eduardo, and Anna met Caine, who was nothing like her boyfriend, Ben. And Ben's dirty little secret wasn't a secret any longer.

The A-Listers are back again in HEART OF GLASS, and this time with a little twist.

Anna and Cammie have to work together - that's right, together - on a charity fashion show. But they got off easy, since this little community service project was the result of getting caught trespassing on a celebrity's estate. No worries, these two can work together, right?

Anna and Caine are getting a little closer, while Ben doesn't seem to worry so much. While Adam and Cammie are trying to make things work, we're hoping that opposites really do attract. Sam is still trying to adjust to living with Poppy, and maybe trying to get rid of her at the same time, while making sure nothing goes wrong with her and Eduardo. And Dee, well, she's Dee, trying to get back on her feet.

The gang is back and it's going to be one sizzling summer.

Eighth in the series, HEART OF GLASS is still filled with secrets, lies, and plenty of drama. The best thing about this series is that the material is never old and it still keeps you guessing and on the edge of your seat. The cast is still great and you just love Anna more and more after each book. Lets just say that HEART OF GLASS is more appealing than another episode of a certain teen drama on a new network - at least I'm experiencing something I haven't seen before!

I am crazy over this series ... i think that this book had to be the most mouth dropping one ... i almost feel like zoey can't write these books fast enough ... i feel like i can identify w/ every character on one level or another ... zoey dean delivers everytime you read one of her books

Pretty Good..........2007-05-17

I've been following the A-List novels since they came out a few years ago. There were tons of these book series floating around--the rich, cliquey girls who seemed to be mean and exclusionary--there were the Gossip Girls, the Clique... you get my drift.

Of all the books of that sort, A-List was the one that caught my eye. I followed it religiously for a while, but I got to one particular book in the series and almost gave up on it. The name-dropping and overall snobbery frustrated me to the point that I almost didn't give a flying ice cream cone about Anna and Ben or Dee's increasing psychosis.

Dean has redeemed herself with this last one, though. The characters are proving to be much more dimensional than first thought, and although they still tend to get themselves into outrageous situations, they are handling them with class and the kind of assertiveness I wish I'd had as a teenager. I really enjoyed this last book and I am looking forward to the "next juicy A-List novel."

I really liked this book it was a page-turner because you want to see what will happen next. I recommend this book to girls 11 and up because this book talks a lot about fashion and girl problems!

Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.

Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.

Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09

There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.

For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.

History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10

Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.

I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.

Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.

Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.

I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.

This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.

Junie B. Jones is a character, and has a unique voice. However, she exercises a pet peeve of mine in that she "talks wrong." I had a lot of resistance to a character that continually coins words and makes grammatical errors (ones that a child that age should be overcoming), but then I loosened up and used the way she speaks as a launching point for discussions with my daughter on how something she said should be phrased, or could be expressed better.
So, that coupled with the fact that my daughter just tears through these books and wants to read them over and over adds up to a thumbs up for me. But do balance this out with books that are grammatically correct.

Great books! My 7 year old loves them, and wants to share them with all of his friends. Also, the whole family laughs at the stories of this little girl. The author, Barbara Parks, really does an incredible job of describing life through the eyes of a child.

This is an awesome book. I wept more than once while reading it. For those of you unfamiliar, this book is about the story of Rachel Joy Scott, a young girl, deeply committed to Christ who was martyred in the infamous Columbine High School massacre. I learned a lot about this horrible event, and the wonderful life of this girl who knew, as evidenced by her journals, that she would die young. After reading this book, I became convinced, as Darrell Scott was the morning of the killings, that this was a spiritual event. It is interesting to note that prior to the killings of April 20, Klebold and Harris had turned a school project detailing their dark fantasies, and no on seemed to have picked up on this. I gave this book five stars not based on quality of writing, which could have used some thorough editing, but on the story, which blew me away. I think everyone who has children should read this book.
People who claim that the demonic music,tv,video games have no impact on their children should definitely read this book. I also agree with Darrell Scott's opinion that is clear these children(the murderers) opened themselves up to spirtitual influence that were beyond their control.Klebold and Harris deliberately targeted Christians on that day, and they had made tapes prior to the event that illustrate their intense hate and dislike of Christians. I ######### this book, but don't be suprised if this book changes your outlook on things!

This is a very emotional book, especially since it is a true story. I think this is a really good way to make teens aware of what kind of society we live in. It gives them the opportunity to look for some of the signs before something can go terrilby wrong. Make your children aware of their surroundings, educate them.

Great Book.......2007-09-01

I have Writen many papers on Columbine High School when I was in school. I have looked at web site, looked at all the information that I found I have spoken with people and authority's for my papers. Brooks Browns book told quite a bit that had never been told before that shows friendship and distructive behavior. It talks about how Dylan and Eric began their friendship, unless someone who was there in the library or in the school writes a book we will never know who said what. What happened we only have the accounts that have been told to others and their family's. This is a great book and if you want to know how Eric and Dylan started off this is the book for you.

Bullying and Teasing As Possible Causes of School Violence.......2007-05-22

"No Easy Answer" is a look at the Columbine massacre from the perspective of Brooks Brown, a friend of the two shooters. As a retired middle school teacher, I can tell you that the bullying and teasing described in this book does go on. This book is a page-turner that gives the reader a look at the sociology of the present-day high school. I highly recommend "No Easy Answers" for anyone interested in learning more about school shootings. I also recommend the young adult novel "Give a Boy a Gun" by Todd Strassor.

This was a very interesting account by a young man who had some insights that few have of this most tragic event in our history. As a school administrator it was a wake-up call.

Brooks Brown, who knew both Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris, gives a unique perspective on the root causes that may have led to the infamous Columbine massacre, a list that includes intense bullying, preferential treatment given to athletes and a culturally-ingrained intolerance for anyone deemed to be different from the status quo.

Detractors of both the book and the author seem to be entirely missing the point Brown makes in this book, i.e., the same sort of "bullying" behavior that one reads in the hostile comments left on the various reviews here are just the sort of thing that probably helped to perpetuate the hate and discontent felt at Columbine. When will people ever learn, one must ask?

All in all, this one is an excellent read and I highly recommend it for learning the whole truth behind the causes of the Columbine massacre.

You've Gone Way Over Your 15 Minutes of Fame Brooks.......2006-10-28

Forget the 13 who were murdered and all those wounded on April 20, 1999; forget the pain of their families; Forget Harris and Klebold; Forget them all because I have just realized the real victim of Columbine was Brooks Brown. It has to be so. I just read as much in 277 annoying pages.

I made a deal with myself awhile back. When I start a book I am committed to finishing it. This worthless waste of paper really tested my will.

Brown seems to have an exaggerated opinion of his 'role' in the lives of Harris and Klebold, the whole massacre in general as well as it's aftermath. And it seems that as time goes by he will do just about anything to keep his name 'out there' regarding this tragedy and that includes typing (I refuse to call it writing) this poorly planned book.

If anyone knows of an objectively written, well researched book on Columbine, drop me a line. The subject is incredibly interesting on so many levels, but unfortunately Brooks Brown doesn't touch on any of them.

Schooling for Mystery Writers.......2007-01-30

Some books lend themselves to discussion, and Thomas H. Cook's writing in "The Chatham School Affair" is perfectly suited to book-club group readings, particularly those attracted by presentation as well as plot. Classified alternately as mystery and suspense, Cook's fluid style fits comfortably with contemporary literature, and the haunting prose faultlessly complements his wind-blown Massachusetts coastal setting.
Narrated by an aging Henry Griswald, the story begins with his recollection on a new teacher's arrival in 1926 at the boy's school at which his father is headmaster. The young woman is both beautiful and mysterious, and the glamorous notions and exotic tales she includes as part of her daily art lessons quickly captivate young Henry.
It's clear, in his recounting of the events of his youth, that something devastating has occurred in Chatham, an event dramatic enough to alter forever the lives of the townspeople, and - even decades later - to incite casual references to those involved.
It isn't clear though, exactly what happened so many years ago.
Cook easily maneuvers between the present and memories of Henry's days as a student of Elizabeth Channing, and his portraits of the characters are so compelling that the intimation of tragedy seems almost incidental. As though revealed by ghosts flitting through the story, the cataclysmic event remains a mystery, and glimpses of the aftereffects provide the only clues as to what transpired that fateful day at Black Pond.
Even when Cook finally identifies his tragedy, he withholds enough cards to trump the initial surprise. The ending is startling and unconventional, and undoubtedly part of the reason "The Chatham School Affair" won awards from the mystery community.

A suspense that lasts and lasts.......2006-12-19

Yep! So, you have to slug your way through to the very last page to discover that Henry... Hey, I'm not going to tell you. Read it yourself, and no fair skipping to that last page. Now, our local white girls' book club appeared to have enjoyed the title, or at least pretended to have enjoyed the title and to have read it, at least until lunch was served and the topic of conversation was lost. Mr. Parsons declared Elizabeth Channing to be "sinister." She was actually put away, in the United States of America, for adultery, when serial polygamy is a national hobby! And, what is the deal with the female characters? Would a female author have presented them less harshly? Mrs. Griswald is a frigid old crone: "Men are all alike." Mrs. Reed was another vengeful old biddy out to kill her rival, or whoever got into her path. Was Alice Craddock driven insane by a monsterous chain of events or did she merely inherit that insanity from her mother? "Locked in a paddock. Where's your daddy gone?" Were the female characters treated meanly, out of a misoginistic literary nature or merely as an aid to the storyline? And, how did a giant of a cripple afford to rent a dock stall and build a sailboat when his miserly salary would probably not have covered rent and food for his family? Whoa! Good reading.......2006-08-09

Thomas Cook has a unique writing style. He brings the reader from the present back to the past and then forward again, each time adding just one more small piece to the full story. Great writer!

One of my favorite authors.......2006-02-27

Thomas Cook is at the top of my list for suspense novels. The book captures your attention in the first paragraph. His writing style creates a picture, feeling, and the scene. The first person narrative allows you to feel and picture the story as the narrator unfolds the story line. Chatham School Affair was excellently written like many of Thomas Cooks other novels. The suspense is constantly building throughout his books and there are twists and turns that are never predictable. "Red Leaves" was the first Thomas Cook novel I read and I became an avid fan of his writing style. Thomas Cook is at the top of the list for suspense authors.

Top-Notch Fiction.......2005-09-29

I read a fair number of works of literature and many, many mysteries.
Prior to Chatham School Affair I had not read anything by Thomas Cook,
and did not know what to expect. But now having read it I am
pleased to report that I thoroughly enjoyed this book about a slice of life
(and death) in a small, conservative town in 1920s Coastal
Massachusetts. I have lived in small towns and villages (though none of
them were in the NE USA). From personal experience I am able to say
that Cook paints a believable word-picture of small town residents.
Cook's tale of an unmarried teacher's affair with a married male
colleague, and the ensuing tragedy, all of it as seen through the eyes
of a boy student, certainly kept my attention from start to finish.

At first I didn't like the author's use of flashbacks, but in no time at all I
came to see them as an effective tool for use in telling the story. Cook's
writing style is not "arty." Instead, his use of English is straightforward
and unencumbered. This reader took in the story effortlessly. It was as
if it was unfolding three-dimensionally and in color before my eyes.

My local library places this book in the Mystery shelves. I believe that
it would be more accurately placed among Contemporary Literature.

Chatham School is a moving story, expertly told. I usually shy away
from books having depressing themes; but this one is extraordinarily
good, and not at all off-putting. To Thomas Cook: "Good work."

Factually incorrect but still has some meaning........2007-08-24

Because I'm in school to study some form of criminology, I started to research the Columbine shooting about 2 months ago. Having read roughly 500 pages of the Columbine Report (which is basically an 11,000 page report containing interviews and such from the teachers and students that were present at Columbine High School on April 20th, 1999), I knew that Cassie Bernall was NOT asked the infamous "Do you believe in God?" question so when I saw the title of this book, I was a bit curious as to why Cassie's mother would sort of "cash in" on the rumors/myths surrounding the shooting death of her daughter. I bought the book in hopes that it would answer my question. And here is what I learned.

The truth is (and believe me, I'm not trying to preach about my views on religion... I'm trying to express my views on this book by debunking the Columbine myths that make this book not credible), a girl named Valeen was asked the "Do you believe in God?" question. She at first said no, then said I don't know, then said yes. When asked by Eric Harris why she believed in God, her response was something along the lines of "Because that was how my parents taught me". She was shot but survived. The only thing that was said to Cassie was "peek-a-boo". It is highly disturbing in my opinion that the ignorant public (led on by the media) including, apparently, Cassie's mother (in the book she says "People say that nothing happens without a purpose--that perhaps Cassie was fulfilling a divine plan, or that in standing up for her beliefs, she was being used by God to further His kingdom. At a certain level, I take comfort in these thoughts. They give meaning to what others have called a "senseless" tragedy, and remind me that a life cut short need not to be a wasted life."), attempt to make Cassie's death more admirable than the other 12 innocent victims. If Valeen had not survived, I'm sure that people would disregard the fact that she said "no" at first. Because, apparently, being religious makes one's death more honorable than those who are not religious.

Look, the book isn't written badly. However, the title of the book and the deep inferences that suggest Cassie died because of her religion honestly disgust me. Those who do not know the truth behind her death will be lead to believe that she WAS asked the question, said yes, and ultimately paid the price by losing her life. This book is NOT supposed to be fiction. So to write it the way it was written make parts of the book lies.

That being said, had the book been mainly about the alleged question she was asked and her answer, I would have easily given this book 1 or 2 stars. But because Misty explains everything from the highlights AND the lowlights in Cassie's life (including Cassie's struggles with wanting to murder her parents) and she admits that Cassie would be upset that people are labeling her a martyr, I found myself able to get through the book rather quickly. Further, "She Said Yes" made me think about my own life and what I would want people to remember me for. For that, I chose to give this book 3 stars.

I'd recommend this book if you want to learn more about the Columbine massacre. The average person must know, however, that although Cassie might've said yes if she was asked the question, the fact is that she wasn't.

She said NOTHING.......2007-07-16

God Bless the Bernall family for their loss of their precious daughter. HOWEVER, this book is based upon a LIE, and terribly, it is a KNOWN LIE. The story is a wonderful one, but, it simply did not happen. The only living direct witness to Miss Bernall's killing, her friend Emily Wyant, discredited the rumor from the beginning, including telling the FBI and the Bernall family. Another indirect witness, Craig Scott (whose sister was viciously gunned down), initially thought he had heard Miss Bernall say something similar to the tale, but later recognized it was actually another voice (see below). However, the tale persists, and makes Christians look foolish, even deceitful, when non-Christians recognize the tale is untrue. The tale was a distorted version of a real event which happened nearby, when one of the killers, Eric Harris, asked another Christian, Valeen Schnurr, whether she believed in God. Despite her affirmative answer, he did NOT kill her. Though not as dramatic & sensational as Miss Bernall's story, such was still miraculous, that a killer would decline to take another victim within point-blank range. We, as followers of Christ, must uphold Truth, not rumor, as the Father of Lies loves it when we do his work, and not Christ's, even for "good" purposes.

Important book.........2007-06-12

I feel that even if it wasn't actually Cassie that said I believe this is still so important to show the humanity of the people that were killed. I definately would NOT say it's a Christian myth that the shootings were at least partly blamed on religion. The boys did ask the girl beside her if she believed in God. And what about Rachel Scott. She was shot after confessing her faith. This was not just about trying to kill jocks or popular kids. These boys hated religion and mocked God and basically were saying if you believe in God let him save you. By letting the other girl survive it's almost their sick game of playing God and deciding who lives and dies. It's a terrorist scare tactic. But Cassie did believe in God and right before she was shot she was praying to God out loud to just let her go home. Then one of the boys pounded on the table she was under said peek a boo and shot her. If you don't believe her killing was motivated by her beliefs read Rachel's Tears and be assured it played a big part in who they killed.

In this book, a girl named Cassie Bernall had got shot at her very own school. But she was only one of the many who were killed . Her mom ,Misty Bernall, wrote this book in memory of her loving daughter. In this book, it tells how Cassie grew up and what memories she has left of her daughter. Her mom also interviewed Cassie's friends and put what memories they had left of her, too. Cassie was always writing notes to her friends about how bad her life was and how she wanted to run away. In this book, she shows the notes she had writen them. But in the last note she ever wrote, she gave to her friend right before she died. It had said that she had belived in God. Right before she got shot, she said the same thing. I look up to Cassie Bernall because she is a strong person who sticks up for what she belives in. I know that if I were in her situation, and they had asked me if I belived in God, I probably would have said, "I don't know" and just cooperated with them. But then again, everything does happen for a reason. So maybe she was meant to go. If I had to rate this book out of 10, it would be a 10. I think this book should be required to read because it is a true life story, and it could happen to anybody. I would also love to see the movie.

More timely than ever, unfortunately.......2001-09-26

In the wake of a terrible terrorist attack, various public voices are arguing for liberty-threatening countermeasures -- increases in federal power, the placement of federal marshals on aircraft, the unreasonable search and seziure of airline passengers, and so forth. Almost unnoticed and unmentioned is the fact that the terrorists succeeded in killing thousands using, apparently, no weapon more powerful than a box cutter.

A handful who are aware of this salient point are claiming that airline security was lax owing to "market failure." This is supposed to relieve us of the responsibility to establish security by means that respect rights.

But Bruce Benson's _To Serve and Protect_ addressed all of this several years ago -- broadly and in principle, though of course with no explicit discussion of the proper security measures for airlines to implement. What Benson provides in this volume is a thorough defense of a superficially counterintuitive claim that becomes less and less counterintuitive as time goes on: the free and private market is better, _much_ better, at providing security and criminal justice than is the government.

That means that his book is, sadly, perhaps more timely now than when it was written. By a simple extrapolation of the arguments presented herein, the recent tragedies indicate, not that "private" security provisions put us at risk of "market failures," but that a government monopoly on criminal justice costs lives.

Benson is also the author of the highly recommended _The Enterpise of Law_, which sets out probably the most thorough case to date that _law_ can exist without the institutions of a territorial State. This volume is in some ways a sequel, setting out a positive case as to how "private" criminal law works and why it is, consistently and in principle, superior to government regulation. (And allegations of "market failure" are specifically addressed.)

Check it out. The need for Benson's arguments has never been greater at any time since its publication.

What we have to avoid !.......2000-01-13

Professor Benson's book is very interesting and excite. Good thoughts and insights in criminal justice failures. Benson advocates free market administration of crime and punishment as solution. The question in my opinion is: what we have to avoid ? Criminal justice failures or market rules ? What seems a good ideia, maybe is the wrong way and will cause more problems than solutions. Anyway, you can't be pro or against it without this excellent book.

A brilliant follow up to Benson's "The Enterprise of Law".......1999-09-12

What I love about this book is that it is a must read for both Liberals and Conservatives alike. Benson shows step by step why our monopolized "justice" system works against real justice -- and why the poor are the most likely to suffer at its hands. What is most comforting to me (who wholeheartedly agrees with his findings) is his conclusion that whether or not people like it, the privatization of criminal justice is inevitably growing.

In my opinion The Landry News was a great book because it was so realistic.It had problems that could happen to any kid.Everybody has school problems,and it's talking about a girls problem with her principal and teacher.For these reasons I thout that The Landry News was an exiting and fun book to read.

A Kid's Reveiw.......2007-10-02

I think The Landry News is a truly inspiring story. For instance, when Mr. Larson knew that there was a possibility he could get fired instead of panicking he just started teaching and turned the emotional stir into a journalism unit for his class. The Landry News is one of the best kids books I have ever read! It just feels like you are going through the whole adventure with Cara and Mr. Larson. I think Andrew Clements has an amazing way of grasping the thoughts that go on in kid's heads during school. This story is a great one to read and if you have the opportunity you should definitely read it. I reccomend this book for anyone else who is interested in reading thr Landry News.

I liked this book because it had a lot of different emotions - from Dr. Barne's anger at Mr. Larson to Cara being sad about her parent's divorce. It is a great lesson on free speech. I highly recommend you read this book.

I think this is a good book for 4th-6th graders. I didn't think that this was a hard story to read. Any kid that can get their hands on it should. This is a good story because it has an interesting problem. The book had a lot of characters, so that made it fun to read. Read This Book!

In the beginnig of the book, Andrew Clements did a great job on describing how messy Mr. L arson's classroom was. I could feel the pian Cara's mother was feeling.It hurt. Questions were buzzing through my head as I read and then in time were answered. Mr. Larson, a teacher who doesn't teach, drinks coffee, and reads the newspaper all day, finnally starts teaching. He was teaching a unit of journalisum. All because of Cara's newspapers. Then Cra makes more newspapers with a motto of Truth and Mercy. Soon, a story gets in the wrong hands. That story almost cost Mr. Larson his job.
