Book Description
Wulf is an ancient Viking warrior with a useful but extremely aggravating power-amnesia. No one who meets him in person can remember him 5 minutes later. It makes it easy to have one-night stands, but hard to have a meaningful relationship, and without true love he can never regain his soul. When he finally meets Cassandra, the one woman who can remember him, she turns out to be the princess of the cursed race he's sworn to hunt-and forbidden to him. The two of them must face ancient curses, prophecies, and the direct meddling of the Greek gods to find true happiness at last.

Made me queesy rather than hot.......2007-09-30
I had read "Fantasy Lover" and "Night Pleasures" and loved both of them so much that I decided to try "Kiss of the Night" this time. While all of Kenyon's books are a bit absurd dealing with devastatingly handsome, yet troubled men who amazingly can't find anyone to love them except rather plain average women.... they were still hot smoldering romances with a fun plot thrown in for good measure. When I read the premise behind "kiss of the night" I thought that it would be a bit more of them same perhaps. Not so. Kenyon really got caught up in her world with this one and while I found some of the new information about Apollites and Daimons interesting, I also found the romance in the book suffering because of it. There were just too many lenghty gaps between Wulf and Cassandra's meetings that were filled with tedious information. I am also not into vampires per se. I enjoyed Buffy the Vampire Slayer but am not someone that finds bloodsucking erotic or sexy. I find it disgusting and was disappointed that there was so much of it in this book. While "Night Pleasures" had been about Daimons and Dark Hunters it never had descriptive scenes of bloodsucking. When the main characters finally resort to it in this book, I thought that I was going to be sick. Rather than a fun, humourous story filled with smartmouthed characters and moments that touch you. This book took itself way too seriously for my taste and quenched any heat or romance that I had received from previous books. This is not going to be a keeper for me.
Walk Silently While Being Mystified.......2007-04-27
Taken into a world that will mystify you to the last, readers will be shocked to find out that they really did not know a great deal about Diamons and Apollites and they are much more complex than the Dark-hunters were ever allowed to believe. Wulf Tryggvasen, a Viking warrior which no one remembers five minutes after they met him, which seems to be fine with him because he always has the best one night stands and no complicated relationships. However, that was before he met Cassandra Peters, a princess who has the destruction of the earth on her conscience; if she dies the rest of the world dies with her. I thought that it was an awe inspiring book with quite a few surprises set in between the pages!
A weaker link to the series ?.......2007-03-09
SK has a wonderful concept with the Dark Hunter series, but this is not one of better reads. I enjoyed Dance with the Devil so much more. I couldn't fully immerse myself in the attraction between Wulf and Cassandra and struggled with it throughout the story. The physical attraction is hot, but I couldn't understand how sworn enemies could become soul mates. This book has some emotional parts and some good secondary characters are introduced. There is a reunion of sorts between Wulf, Ash, and the four previous Dark Hunters. Simi also returns for a brief appearance.
This book is important to the series; however, because it explains more about the different Daimons, Apollites, and other creatures in the realm.
Really dissapointed.......2007-02-12
Not my favorite at all.The characters were good and the details about the Damons and Apollites were interesting, but I guess I was expecting more from the book. I don't have kids, so the whole having-wild-sex-while-pregnant is a little bit disturbing, at least for me. Consider yourself warned.

one of my top 3 series I am reading currently - if you love vampire books this is a great series.

Roshan DeLongpre is a vampire bored with his existence. He's been alive for almost three hundred years, and seen and done just about everything there is to see and do. He's read hundreds of thousands of books, seen the cities of the world change, watched innumerable moons rise in the night sky. But after all this time, there's no joy left in his life-only that unshakable need to exist, to survive.
All of that changes, when he sees a colorless pen and ink drawing of a woman being burned at the stake. The captions and ensuing story in the book tells him that Brenna Flanagan was suspected of witchcraft and subsequently burned for her sins, her ashes scattered after her death in a mountain lake. Unnerved by Brenna's rare beauty, and the eerie similarity between the mountain lake in the story and that of a painting hanging in his library, Roshan immediately sets out to determine who exactly Brenna Flanagan was. The fact that she looks eerily similar to his lost love, Atiyana, furthers his resolve to solve the mystery of who this woman was.
Feeling almost bewitched himself, as the artist of that small pen and ink drawing was purported to be, Roshan chooses to use his supernatural powers to do the unthinkable-travel back into the past and rescue Brenna before the angry mob can burn her for her sins. It sounds simple enough, and in fact, both Roshan and Brenna survive the trip through time, but now Brenna is thrust into a world where nothing is as she remembers-and the vampire Roshan is in serious danger of losing his heart.
As Brenna becomes more familiar with this strange new world around her, more problems come to light-Brenna loves Roshan more than she ever dreamed possible, but is frightened beyond belief of the vampire way of life. And when they both overcome their personal fears-Brenna of being turned, Roshan of giving his heart to another woman in marriage-both are unprepared for the personal sacrifices that each must make.
NIGHT'S KISS is a great addition to the stories of Amanda Ashley, who manages to blend the power of vampires and their world with that of the modern-day. Brenna and Roshan are a powerful couple, and their tribulations, trials, and sense of survival shine through in this engaging story of love and redemption.
Fantastic.......2007-02-18
I wasn't sure I wanted to start another Vampire series by yet another author--I was simply afraid that the rules one author used would conflict with another--and I had actually found three authors who seemed to have the same rules--one who had not--Miss Ashley is one to join the rules of the three with a decided twist--which I really liked.
I will no doubt be going back to get the books before this one--and definitely the books after!
A classic vampire...and that was just one problem.......2006-08-28
____Reading other reviews (which will give you details about the book), and the summary I thought this would be a very exciting story. A story with mystery, suspense, and maybe some steamy love scenes (optional but something I'd look forward to). But it dissappointed me very much.
____When you first read about Roshan he is the classic based vampire. Can't walk into the sun, can change into mist/light/wolf, and ect. And that was something that just turned me off the book making me want to put it down. After reading Stephanie Meyer's (sp might be off) Twilight I can never look at vampire stories in the same way. She put a such creativity in what vampires are. Though it's young adult if a fan of an amazing vamp story with new twists and romance then do read it. Though I do give Ms. Ashley credit for giving them the ability to transport. And that was probably the only thing I liked about Roshan.
___Another thing that bothered me was there was no mystery or suspense. Not that this book was in that genre, but when a summary tells you of a dark power growing ect, you'd expect that right? Wrong (atleast for me. The minute Brenna went and met certain characters in ana certain shop it was beyond obvious who was the villians once murders started taking place ect. Especially if the murder is trying to use vamp blood...well I won't spoil it. But let's put it this way that blood taking and injecting was something I remember watching in Dracula 2: the ascension.
___If your looking for a wonderful steamy sex scene. That is not the case in this book. O.O sorry to burst your bubble. But I must say it was tender and romantic.
I'm really tough on novels that don't meet my standard. But the book is worth the read most definitely. Just if your expecting something new and not done quite a few times over then you'll find it dissappointing...Like I did.
Amanda Ashley does it again!.......2005-07-08
I personally don't see why people disliked this book. It may not be as good as her previous ones, but it is amazing in it's own way. The thought of a man refusing to let time stand in the way of him and his true love, is incredible.
It actually reminds me a lot of Somewhere in time. With a dark, lustful, and morbid twist, perhaps. but the story is the same isn't it? A man sees a picture of a beautiful woman, and goes through time to find her. I loved this story, because of it.
The romance is sizzling, and raw, like in most of Amanda's books. My personal favorite though is Embrace the Night and a Whisper of Eternity. But this is also an amazing read. If you're a die-hard fan of ms. Ashley's, then you won't be dissapointed.
However, if you are new to her work (and don't admire her all ready) this may seem unusual and strange for you, since you aren't fimiliar with her. And this book IS very Amanda Ashley. She wrote about vampires, aliens, cowboys, heroes. What will she do next?
I can't wait for her books to come out, because I know they'll be as amazing as the last. I strongly advise you to read this
Kiss off.......2005-07-06
While better than some of her other books, this one still comes up lacking something. Another good concept, but mediocre application. The time travel, vampire, witch story just never seemed to reach it's potential. The heroine is marginally less of a brainless ditz than the others written by this author but still manages to make some incrediably stupid moves. And it's another one of those ridiculous over the top "pink bow" endings. If you really want to read it, check your local library rather than putting out the cash.

Terrific Ending.......2007-02-22
Book 4 of the Nikki and Michael series and the perfect ending. When things finally start to work for Michael and Nikki eerything has to go wrong when an old rival of Michael comes to mess things up. This time its up to Nikki alone to slove this case. A fantastic ending to a very good vampire series.
Great urban fantasy.......2004-08-04
Nikki Jones is taking her test to enter the Damask Circle, an organization of good supernatural beings sworn to fight evil whenever they find it. She does her best to pass so she can marry her vampire love Michael Kelly. In the room she senses a great evil and through their telepathic link Michael senses her fear. Seline, the leader of the Damask Circle, informs him that an old malevolence has infiltrated the organization with the principle targets being them.
Over a century ago, Michael killed a vampire sorcerer who murdered his lover but what he didn't know was that Emmett Dunlevy had a twin brother just as evil with the same powers. Wylin swore he would bring his brother back to life but to do that he needs to sacrifice Michael and Selene. Michael is kidnapped and Nikki disguised as Selena travels to the ghost town where he is being held. Nikki tries to rescue Michael and destroy Dunlevy but her beloved doesn't remember her and there are all kinds of supernatural traps in town waiting to be sprung. If they can't defeat Dunlevy, they will die and his brother will be resurrected.
Kerri Arthur is one of the best writers of vampire romantic thrillers on the market today. Her latest work has plenty of action and villains that are easy to hate but it is the love between the protagonists that makes this work very special. KISS THE NIGHT GOOD-BYE has the feel of a historical western since everyone in the ghost town believe it is the nineteenth except Nikki and the villain. Readers will really sink their teeth in this memorable and ensorcelling supernatural tale.

"There's a kind of power about Mickey Spillane that no other writer can imitate." (The New York Times)
Apparently. With his trend-setting Mike Hammer detective novels, Mickey Spillane shot to superstardom as one of the most notorious bestselling sensations in publishing history. This powerhouse collection includes three of the master's long-out-of-print greatest novels-together for the first time in one explosive volume:
The Big Kill
One Lonely Night
Kiss Me, Deadly
Includes a special introduction by Shamus and Edgar Award-winner Lawrence Block.

Great reading.......2007-06-08
Fine writing by a fine author. Pictures appeared in my mind with his use of words and always enjoyed each story. No one else like Spillane - not ever.
The Private Eye version of a Time Capsule.......2007-05-10
These Mickey Spillane novels that feature Mike Hammer are incredible. Spillane was immensely popular in the late 40s and early 50s. He wrote incredibly straightforward pulp novels of the sort that have been parodied endlessly in various media since, to the point that going back and reading the original invites laughs when they weren't intended.
The main character, Mike Hammer, is of course the private eye who's the toughest guy in New York City. He has his vices: he smokes constantly, drinks pretty much every chapter, and chases girls constantly. The women, especially, seem badly overdone. Each book he falls for at least three, and of course there's his secretary, Velda, who he claims to be in love with (though of course out of sight, out of mind definitely applies here). Velda never seems to get jealous when she figures out that he's been with another woman, at least not really, and none of the rest of them appear to think he should be monogamous either. They seem to understand that the book is for men, so they should let him chase as many girls as he can catch. He can catch a lot.
Some of the dialog is so overwritten and purple it's beyond parody, and often it's unintentionally funny. Some of the characters are a bit much too: Pat Chambers, his cop friend, never does anything beyond provide information and tell Mike to stay out of trouble, which Mike of course ignores. Mike is insanely tough: beat him up, shoot at him (or shoot him), whatever, he keeps trying to kill you until he succeeds.
One fascinating thing about the series, having read both volumes of the collection, is that Hammer almost never has a real client. Instead, he gets involved in these killings through being what amounts to a knight errant, wandering around and rescuing women. Of course the girl gets killed in the early going of the book, and of course Mike swears revenge, and of course he exacts it by the end of the book. Figuring out who the bad guy is by the end of the book is hard, though it's often another beautiful woman somewhere in the plot; if it isn't, it's some nefarious crime boss or something.
Everything is so dated it's funny. One of the books in this collection features bad guys who Mike invariably refers to as "Commies" as if he intends that as an insult. There's no pretense that someone should have the right to belong to a political party or anything like that: as far as Mike Hammer (and presumably Mickey Spillane too) is concerned, "Commies" deserve a firing squad.
I like dated things, things that are old and make you think about the past. Cultural references (the "Commies" mentioned above) are fascinating to me. I wonder what Hammett (who was a Marxist) thought of the book, if he read it. These books can be a bit hard to read (the characters are very cardboard, and the dialog is often way overdone) but they're interesting for what they are, and worth delving into.
Mike Hammer -- named appropriately.......2007-05-07
I read these books shortly after they were published originally. I was a teenager who fantisized myself as Mike Hammer and his conquests - both with the ladies and in giving the bad guys their due. Spillane introduced me to the wonderful world of paperback novels that have kept me a voracious reader of them to this day. A few years later, I marveled at the exploits of 007, first in the books by Ian Fleming and then the movies so ably done by Broccoli and Saltzman - not to mention Sean Connery (the only real James Bond). Mickey has now gone on to his reward and I would say to him "job well done, Mick."
Lord Breadalbane's Opinion.......2005-09-30
Nice format and great introduction but numerous typos and some dialogue was nonsensical to the point that I am tempted to go to local library and borrow a copy of Kiss Me, Deadly to compare text. Quality control obviously poor.
Tough guys and curvy dames.......2005-09-23
Spillane's books can be found at used bookstores or online for cheap, but buy these new collections and see how fast you can read three books at a time. I tore through these yarns fast and can't wait for the third set. Spillane does more for me than Chandlier or Hammett, though I love their books too, but the Mike Hammer stories are cool, tough, brutal, sexy, post-war stories with all the right slang.
Mike Hammer is brutal, sure. Maybe even cruel. But he is an avenging angel, always seeking revenge for a friend, sometimes for a stranger, but always to set things right. Or at least as close to right as he can make it with his fists and his slabside .45.
Book Description
Originally debuting as a feature on the KISS Asylum website the "KISS Album Focus" work was compiled into book format and privately published in two editions in 2002. Delving into the history of the "Hottest Band In The Land," the work seeks to provide an objective biography supported by comments band members have made during the past 30+ years. Since initial publication the work has grown so large it has had to be split into three volumes. The work has been reviewed in numerous magazines and fanzines, and some sections of the work have been translated into Spanish and Russian.
Customer Reviews:
Five stars for the content, three for the editing.......2006-07-13
I read a lot of the passages in the KISS Album Focus when it was an online feature of the old KISS Asylum site. I loved the stuff then, I love it now. In terms of sheer volume of information, this is probably the most comprehensive KISS book on the market. The truths behind some well-known KISS myths are explored (debunking many in the process). Julian Gill, who put this together, is obviously a knowledgable and dedicated KISS fan. The amount of effort involved in compiling this must have been staggering.
It's just too bad that what is otherwise a very handy KISS reference is marred by awful (perhaps non-existant) copyediting. The spelling and grammatical errors, while numerous, can be overlooked. But what really hurts this book is the lack of organization and editing/trimming. For a book of more than 500 pages to have NO index is a crime. While having the chapters arranged in chronological order helps, it is still extremely difficult to quickly find information.
And as for the length - although this book seems impressive at 500 pages, it doesn't need to be that long. While the KISS Album Focus is definitely comprehensive, it can also be repetitive. A lot of information is repeated, sometimes in the course of a single page. This book, despite the title, could really have used more focus.
That being said, I still highly recommend this book to any true KISS fan who wants to dig deeper into the group's history than the usual Gene Simmons/Paul Stanley PR puffery. You find out who played on what songs; you get the stories behind all the albums from the original makeup era; you get a nice, detailed look at all the stuff the members did before KISS. In short, this book (along with KISS & Sell, Black Diamond, Behind the Mask, and KISS Alive Forever) is essential for any KISS Army recruit.
Really Comprehensive.......2006-03-10
Finally you get an overview of who played what on which songs! It may get some KISS fans mad that not all members play on every song, or in some instances, outside players were used (Dick Wagner, Anton Fig, Steve Ferris, Robin Ford, Bob Kulick) and so on... It's an ejoyable read for someone who is a major fan and gives insight into what was going on in the band at each phase. Nice bios on solo stuff by Ace & Peter, plus general bios on each member involved in the 1972-1982 timeframe. The author is abviously a huge fan, but doesn't sugarcoat the dirt!

Product Description
This book helps children identify emotions with words as they learn about their feelings.
Amazon.com
Every child has his or her own personal repertoire of rationalizations for avoiding bed, and every parent has a stockpile of counter offensives. In Kiss Good Night, Mrs. Bear covers all the bases: "Hmmmm...Book, blanket, friends, milk...," but her son, Sam, isn't ready. "I'm waiting," he keeps saying. Could there be anything Mama Bear is forgetting? Amy Hest's sweet story, gorgeously illustrated by Anita Jeram in warm, earthy greens, golds, browns, and reds, provides a rhythm to the bedtime ritual that will soon have sleep-fighting tots relinquishing their day to night. The comforting manner of easygoing Mrs. Bear as she comes up against her son's quiet resistance--even while the wind blows and rain comes down outside--is an antidote to nighttime anxiety. A perfect read-aloud from Hest (In the Rain with Baby Duck) and Jeram (illustrator of Sam McBratney's bestselling Guess How Much I Love You). (Ages 3 to 7) --Emilie Coulter

Has been a staple at our home for the past 2years!.......2007-05-30
I got this for my daughter when she was a baby and she still loves it, at 2! The story is sweet and comforting, just what young kids love. Little Sam is put to bed by his mom, but he indicates there's something mom is forgetting ['I'm waiting']...and of course, it all ends well, with lots of hugs and kisses ['again!', 'again!']. The illustrations are beautiful with lush colors. A definite keeper!
Bedtime Favorite.......2006-12-01
This is by far the favorite bedtime story for me and my daughter, Phoebe. We love the kissy part at the end and cant wait to get there. Highly recommend this book, you will really coneect with your child - it's so sweet.
Noah's favorite.......2005-12-30
I have been reading this book to my son Noah since he was just two months old. Amoung several other books including "Guess how much I love you" and the classic "Corduroy" this is certainly his favorite. He likes the extra kisses he gets when Mrs Bear kisses Sam "...once and twice and then twice more...". This is definetly a great book for reading to baby. The illustations from Anita Jerum are fantastic. Noah rates this book with five stars at the top of his list!
Milk After Being Tucked In?.......2005-10-08
This is a great book, except that I wish the author would have substituted a glass of water for the milk. I don't want to teach my kids the bad habit of having anything to eat or drink between the time they brush their teeth and when they go to bed, except water.
This is my 9 month old's favorite book!.......2005-08-25
I know it's hard to believe a 9 month old can prefer one book over another, but that's just what's happened here! I bought this book a few months ago since I loved the illustrations (I'm an artist). I've been reading it off and on since. Well, last week while unsuccessfully trying to read her a story, my daughter spied "Kiss Good Night" on the table and reached over grabbed it, and promptly started turning the pages. She settled right down after that. Now, every time it's story time, she picks up this book and hands it to me! A clear winner! I'm relieved to discover there are more Sam books out there, we'll be buying those as well!

Sweet bedtime story.......2007-10-02
This is a great book I read to my boys at night, and I kiss them each time the mama bear kisses Sam. They giggle and squirm and think it's so much fun. I love this message and sweet story.
My absolute favorite bedtime book.......2007-05-15
This story of a mom putting her boy to sleep rings so true and is so sweet (without being treacly) and provides so many opportunities to kiss my own kids during the telling, that I just couldn't improve on it. I give it as a baby gift on a regular basis.
A heartwarming classic!!.......2007-01-03
I love reading this book to my son. I don't remember how old he was when we got it (probably less than 1). He's now three and we still read it and both enjoy it! Some other books get old after reading and rereading. Not this one. It's the perfect book to read to your child before bedtime and the art work is charming. I would definitely get the board book instead of the hardcover to survive the really young one's attentions.
