Good, light reading..........2007-09-24
Good, light reading. Fun & naughty...for when you just need something to preoccupy your mind for a little while, like on the city bus, or waiting in line at the DMV.
A Collection of Stories...........2006-03-18
..some were good. Some were bad. I especially loved Party Planner by Meg Cabot, Traveling Light by Carole Matthews, and Here Come Harry, by Jessica Adams. But my most favorite one was Don't You Know Who I Am?, by Adele Lang. It was as if Edina from the hit Brititsh show, Absolutely Fabulous, was telling that story. It was a terrific read!!
I really enjoyed this book because it introduced me to other authors of the Chick Lit genre, and I can't wait till Red Dress Ink publishes Girls Night Out this summer.
Great and entertaining.......2006-02-22
This book is good from beginning to end. They are short stories though so each story only has a little bit of content. I really wished that the stories were longer because right as I got into them, they ended. You definitely have to make your own conclusions and assumptions at the end of each story. That part is unclear. It makes you wonder if you're assumptions are on the right track....hmmm.
Chick lit short story fun!.......2006-02-08
I really enjoyed some of the stories in this book. The first story, by Meg Cabot, had me laughing out loud at the antics of a nervous party planner. Jennifer Weiner's story (of Good in Bed's Cannie) from the male perspective, was really good.
The stories I encountered that didn't thrill me--well, you win some and you lose some. But I didn't feel nearly as guilty giving up on them as I do on a full novel.
Good for a chick lit fan and a good gift to give to a girlfriend.......2006-01-12
Like any collection some stories are better than others. But this book helped expose me to some new authors, which is always a good thing.
I have taken to buying this book for expectant moms or new moms. I package it up with some bubble bath, snacks and other comfort things so after the baby comes they will have things just for them. And because the stories are short most people can fit one in sometime during the day.

Do It Yourself Turns Out To Be Already Done.......2007-05-10
Half of the hats in this book require one to purchase a pre-made hat. Buy a vintage fedora, then decorate. Buy a sun hat, then decorate. This book is more about embellishment than actual hat making. The book description lead me to believe this book was more about hat patterns and custom fitting. I wish I'd spent my money on a vintage fedora instead of this book.
Sushi To Go.......2007-04-21
This is a great book! It has some great designs and helps to inspire some more creativity. Will definitely be making the sushi hat as it looks great. I have studied Millinery and although some of the construction techniques are a bit more simplified I think that this will help the more inexperienced person "have a go" (people with more experience can easily use more advanced techniques if they want). Fantastic book and well worth the money. This book will help beginners start and give inspiration to the more advanced.
Saturday Night Hat.......2007-04-02
I love this book. I have been looking for patterns to build hats with and have ordered many but this book makes everything simple and has lots of pitures and the actual patterns. Thank you.
Misleading!!.......2007-02-06
The cover is misleading. On it is the wildly popular "Muffy" style which is not in the book!! Other than that, however, it has many pretty and feminine styles that can be made easily and quickly. You don't have to go out and spend a fortune of millinery equipment.
I love the little pillbox hat; it looks like a tiny wedding cake. I know I will make the classic beret and the engineer's cap. There are a lot of other styles and ideas to get your own creativity on!! But,I don't like it if you can't see at least some of the styles in the book before you buy. Not fair!
good start to hat making.......2007-01-22
the title says it all ....'quick, easy hatmaking.... there is something for everyone here at all levels, easy to read instructions, good ideas and up to the minute designs. I've enjoyed reading this book and look forward to making up some of the designs and adapting others. A good addition to any library.

Book Description
A Different Kind of Sister Act
Patricia Anne -- "Mouse" -- is respectful, respectable, and demure, a perfect example of genteel Southern womanhood. Mary Alice -- "Sister" -- is big, brassy, flamboyant, and bold. Together they have a knack for finding themselves in the center of some of Birmingham's most unfortunate unpleasantness.
Country Western is red hot these days, so overimpulsive Mary Alice thinks it makes perfect sense to buy the Skoot 'n' Boot bar -- since that's where the many-times-divorced "Sister" and her boyfriend du jour like to hang out anyway. Sensible retired schoolteacher Patricia Anne is inclined to disagree -- especially when they find a strangled and stabbed dead body dangling in the pub's wishing well. The sheriff has some questions for Mouse and her sister Sister, who were the last people, besides the murderer, of course, to see the ill-fated victim alive. And they had better come up with some answers soon -- because a killer with unfinished business has begun sending them some mighty threatening messages...

Murder on a Girl's Night Out.......2007-07-15
Anne George's characters are so real. These two sisters are so entertaining and have their own relationship norms. I cannot say that at any time am I bored while reading about their adventures or just their interactions. This series is one of my very favorite reads - I don't have to worry about blood, gore or profanity - these stories can stand on their own without resorting to the quick, gory, or bloody fill-ins.
Not For Me.......2006-11-04
I was looking for a new "series" of books to be interested in when I ordered 2 of the Southern Sisters mysteries. I should have known better than to order just on reviews; I should have checked at the library first. I only read this one, and have donated both to the local seniors group. I am an insatiable reader, and devour a wide variety. My favorite authors of fiction are James Clavell, Tim Clancy, Nora Roberts, Laurell K Hamilton, Anne Rice, James Patterson and Janet Evanovich. If these are on your list of favorites, my advice is "try before you buy"; this series is a little simplistic for my taste.
Great book--Great series!!.......2006-10-30
I purchased this book because I had read the second in the series previously and was very entertained. "Girls Night Out" did not disappoint. The characters are vibrant and the story line is easy to follow but not as easy to predict. If you like a "funny" murder mystery this series is for you!
Deadly Doings in Dixie.......2006-10-03
Patricia Anne and Mary Alice are sisters but there the similarities end. Patricia Anne (Mouse) is a sixty-year old retired schoolteacher who has been married to the same man (Fred) for forty years and she weighs one hundred and five pounds soaking wet. Mary Alice (Sister, Aunt Sister to Mouse's children) is sixty-five, weighs two hundred and fifty pounds and has outlived three husbands. Mouse is well grounded, tries to eat a healthy diet and always votes Democratic. Sister is flighty, claims that Mouse doesn't eat enough and always votes Republican. The fertile mind of Anne George dreamed up this pair, put them in position to solve a mystery and neither Alabama or the mystery world will ever be the same again.
Sister and her boyfriend Bill are into line dancing and when the owner of their favorite honky-tonk decides to sell Mary Alice decides to buy. The day after the sale closes however the former owner is found dead in the bar's wishing well and from then on Sister's investment is jinxed. The sisters don't really set out to catch the killer but instead are trying to help a former student of Patricia Anne's who is a suspect in the crime. The more they delve into matters though the deeper they find themselves and before it is all said and done one of the sisters finds herself on the wrong end of a gun. Since this is the first book in the series it is easy to assume that the endangered sister survives but you'll never guess who saves the day.
As with most cozy mysteries the characters tend to overshadow the plot and the hero figures don't actually solve anything but just sort of blunder into the solution. The characters are so much fun though that you will hardly notice when the plot happens to disappear. Seldom does a book like this make me laugh out loud but this one did the trick and the plot held just strongly enough to make me rush toward the end once I approached the climax of the mystery. As a born and raised Southerner I could clearly visualize these two and could actually identify them with several of my own family members, right down to the double first names. So pour yourself a nice glass of sweet tea and settle down on the veranda for an unforgettable visit with these two Southern ladies extraordinaire.
THE SOUTHERN SISTERS SERIES IS THE BEST AND YOU SHOULD NOT MISS THESE EIGHT BOOKS.......2006-09-25
OK, OK, I am reviewing all eight books in this one sitting! Anne George wrote a series WINNER with these eight books. You need to read them in order and they are as such --
MURDER ON A GIRLS NIGHT OUT
MURDER ON A BAD HAIR DAY
MURDER RUNS IN THE FAMILY
MURDER MAKES WAVES
MURDER GETS A LIFE
MURDER SHOOTS THE BULL
MURDER CARRIES A TORCH
MURDER BOOGIES WITH ELVIS
I have lent these books out to so many friends/family that they are in need of repair. These books should be read in the above order.
Unfortunately, Anne George has passed on, so this is it for this series. You will LOVE every single book. The main characters are two sisters who could not be more different than day and night. Mary Alice weighs two hundred pounds and the word flamboyant does not even begin to describe her. People who know and love her call her Sister. She is loud, border-line obnoxious, and into getting married - over and over again. She is someone you would adore in real life.
Her sister, Patricia Anne, is a retired school teacher and the more serious of the two women. She is lovingly known as Mouse. She has been in a steady marriage for years, has grown children, and is the more sensible of the two. You will love them both. The books are set in Alabama, so the books are full of Southern flair and charm. The characters in each book are funny, sad, sweet, nasty -- you will meet a whole cast of characters in each book.
I cannot emphasize enough how much you should treat yourself to these eight books!
Each book deals with a murder mystery that these two senior girls just seem to keep falling into. I know, I know, the titles sound hokey and so does the preface of the books, but they are WONDERFUL. I read all eight of them in a row and was sad to see them come to an end.
Each book deals with another mystery and caper. The trouble these two old ladies get into! The laughs are there, and they will have you laughing out loud. The mystery is just that -- mystery. You will not know which way the book is headed. Each book is full of surprises and keeps your attention the entire length of the book.
Get this entire series and set yourself down. Enjoy!
Thank you! Pam

Ruby Capote, the narrator of Girls' Poker Night, is your quintessential New York cynic. This persona serves her just fine in her job as a humor columnist; she's unafraid to write the most humiliating details about herself or her friends, because she truly doesn't care. But over the course of a year or so of Wednesday night poker parties with her pals, Ruby is forced to face her past--especially her sorrow over her father, who committed suicide after he left Ruby's mother. Meanwhile, Ruby comes to terms with her budding feelings for Michael, the editor of her newspaper, who, in a neat twist, turns out to be estranged from his only child (shades of Ruby's lost father). Davis, a former writer for The Late Show, does a fine job of maintaining Ruby's sharp humor while leading her through a minefield of emotional discovery. --Claire Dederer

Dissatisfied both with writing a "Single Girl on the Edge/Ledge/Verge" lifestyle column and with her boyfriend (who has a name for his car and compulsively collects plastic bread ties), Ruby Capote sends her best columns and a six-pack of beer to the editor of The New York News and lands herself a new job in a new city.
In New York, Ruby undertakes the venerable tradition of Poker Night -- a way (as men have always known) to eat, drink, smoke, analyze, interrupt one another, share stories, and, most of all, raise the stakes. There's Skorka, model by profession, homewrecker by vocation; Jenn, willing to cross county lines for true love; Danielle, recently divorced, seducer of at least one father/son combo in her quest to make up for perceived "missed opportunities."
When Ruby falls for her boss, Michael, all bets are off. He's a challenge. He's her editor. And he wants her to stop being quippy and clever and become the writer -- and the woman -- he knows she can be. Adding to Ruby's uncertainty is his amazing yet ambiguous kiss in the elevator, and the enjoyably torturous impasse of he-loves-me, he-loves-me-not.
What happens when you realize that Mr. Right has his own unresolved past? Where does that leave the future you envisioned? Ruby knows that happy endings aren't for cowards, and she hasn't lost hope that there are risks worth taking. As smart as it is laugh-out-loud funny, Girls' Poker Night is a twenty-first-century His Girl Friday and a re-freshingly upbeat look at friendship, work, and love.
"Girls' Poker Night is blithe, engaging, off-the-wall funny."
JOAN DIDION
"Jill Davis's Girls' Poker Night is every man's worst nightmare -- a candid look at how the other half thinks and feels. Ruby Capote is a smart, neurotic, maddening heroine against whom very few male poker players would stand a chance. I certainly hope this is fiction."
JAY McINERNEY, AUTHOR OF BRIGHT LIGHTS, BIG CITY AND MODEL BEHAVIOR
"Jill Davis has the voice of your very best friend -- funny, irreverent, gossipy, deliciously nasty but always compassionate. Just pour yourself a drink, sit back, and listen to her rant hilariously about her journey to romance and maturity."
ELIZABETH GILBERT, AUTHOR OF PILGRIMS AND STERN MEN
"Funny, fast-moving, and disarmingly honest, Girls' Poker Night, to use a Hollywood construct, is an American Bridget Jones meets Sex and the City, with a soulful smidgen of Bright Lights, Big City."
MARK O'DONNELL, AUTHOR OF GETTING OVER HOMER AND LET NOTHING YOU DISMAY
"Ruby Capote, the sparkling jewel at the center of Jill A. Davis's brilliant debut, is wise, witty, and achingly vulnerable in the tradition of the fabulous dames of screwball comedy. I loved her and you will too!"
ADRIANA TRIGIANI, AUTHOR OF
BIG STONE GAP AND
LUCIA, LUCIA
"Jill Davis captures exactly what it feels like to be a single woman on the verge of falling in love; what it feels like to risk everything and cross the line from distrust to trust, from not believing to believing. Girls' Poker Night is fu

If I could give this less than one star, I would do it........2007-09-17
This book was HORRIBLE! 227 pages of a whining, disturbed, whining, misguided, whining, unsympathetic complainer for a main character, who subsequently is the ONLY character in the book who's given any "depth" at all. And did I mention that she whines?
What a waste of space!
OK, I get it - You have issues that stem from childhood and you run from relationships. Well kids, I just summed up the ONLY thread of what could be conceived as "plotline" in the entire novel. It was just awful! So awful, that I have absolutely no plotline to really pick apart in this review because the whole novel is bits and pieces thrown together in a hodge-podge that's MEANT to be a story.
It's ONLY saving grace is that it was a fairly quick read. So it's only 1 day of my life that I won't get back instead of more... Honestly, I'm SO ANGRY with myself for actually letting myself finish this thing, thinking, "Well, it's gotta get better, right?"
Take my word for it, kids - STAY AWAY! It's TRASH!!!
Disjointed Attempt at Chick Lit.......2006-10-22
Ruby lands a job in New York to escape a blah relationship in Boston. Her relationships and insecurities provide fodder for her column, "Single Girl on the Edge/Ledge/Verge." Her attraction to the editor and her poker nights with her girlfriends set up some funny scenes.
The book reads like a series of columns scotch taped together. Maybe that's the intent, but it just feels choppy. The women friends are mere caricatures and Ruby is frustratingly inept in pursuing her romantic interest.
Boring.......2006-09-05
Boring, meandering story line and under developed characters. I did not find this book funny but instead just found it tedious. There were too many characters for the story line and none of them were interesting or had any depth. I found myself losing tack of who was who among the supporting characters, and I never get a real sense of who the main character was.
Definately a Royal Flush!.......2006-07-19
I loved this book. It is a laugh out loud you have to share with the girls book. I have passed it around to any friend that enjoys a good read. It is an easy quick read! You will want to read it over and over
Sharp Wit and Believable Characters.......2006-04-18
In Girl's Poker Night, heroine Ruby Capote is a single girl who just can't be serious about anything... her job, her boyfriend, her past. She writes for a gossip column in which she dishes unselfconciously about herself and her friends, and yet when asked a direct question about herself she can't seem to find an answer. Author Jill Davis did a good job of making Capote like you and me, a girl just trying to get ahead in the world. She does this with a unique quick witted writing style in short little chapters that will lure you into reading more.

Perfect for your next girls' night in.......2007-01-02
Girls' Night Out is a collaboration effort from some of the biggest names in chick lit with proceeds to benefit War Child, an organization dedicated to easing the suffering of children around the world. The editors of this book have long-since had a similar effort organized in England with many British chick lit authors contributing, and this is the second effort in the American version of the series. The previous novel, Girls' Night In, was released in 2004 and included many of the same authors.
If you like chick lit, this is your chance to get samplings from many of your favorite authors in one convenient package and to help out a good cause while you're at it.
A couple of my favorite stories in the anthology are:
A Thing of Beauty by Emily Giffin
In this story, by-the-books actuary Kate stops living her ordinary life when her numerologist/manicurist Betty suggests that she needs to make some changes. On Betty's advice, Kate cuts off her long hair, breaks up with her long-time boyfriend, and quits her respectable job as an actuary. Instead, she takes a job at a flower shop, and decides to rethink her previously well-ordered life.
I thought this story was fun and lighthearted while at the same time reminding you to take stock of your life and make sure you're living it the way you want to. Kate takes a chance, and winds up with valuable experiences that she'd never have had if she'd just kept living her ordinary life without thinking there might be something more out there for her. Emily Giffin is one of my favorite authors and her books Something Borrowed, Something Blue, and Baby Proof are definitely worth checking out if you have never read her work before.
A Little Bit Broken by Sarah Mlynowski
When her husband of six month confesses to her that he's had an affair, Jessie has no idea how to react. The idea that someone she trusted and thought she knew so well could treat her so badly doesn't sit well with her and she has to make a decision about whether or not she can forgive this indiscretion.
This story is probably my favorite in the entire anthology because it resonates with truth from start to finish. It's difficult to know whether or not you can put back together something that may be irreparably broken and the fact that their marriage is so new makes it especially difficult in this story. Mlynowski is also one of the editors of the book and I'd never heard of her before I picked it up. I'll be sure to check out her work in the future.
Overall, Girls' Night Out is a great way to get a little something from some of your favorite chick lit authors who might not put out work as often as you'd like them to, and also a great way to get an introduction to some new ones. Another story I really liked was by Alisa Valdes-Rodriguez, titled The Corruption of Father Scott, and involves a television producer who is tasked with finding the sexiest Catholic priest in the country to become the next Dr. Phil. I'd never heard of Valdes-Rodriguez before but I enjoyed the story so much I went out and bought one of her books.
Girls' Night Out has got stories that range from humorous and lighthearted to somber and thought-provoking. It would definitely be perfect for your next night in.
Wonderful!.......2006-07-21
I absolutely loved this book! I loved the premise of the short stories by fabulous authors. "Girls' Night Out" introduced me to so many new "chick-lit" authors. After reading the book I had to run out and get "Girls' Night In."
Great read.......2006-07-12
I'm about 6 stories in and so far, it's great. I picked up both Girls Night In and Girls Night Out in hopes of finding more authors to read, and I've definitely found them! I can't wait to finish both books!
Fantastic Book filled with GREAT AUTHORS!.......2006-06-06
What a compilation of fantastic writers! This book is filled with stories from Meg Cabot, Cecelia Ahern, Marian Keyes, Laura Caldwell, Sarah Mlynowski and Carole Matthews, to name a few. Each story is a wonderful trip into the interesting lives of very diffent women. You will find yourself savoring each story so as not to finish the book too quickly. You will also discover new authors and new voices. A great read for the beach, the cabin, the pool or the train to work. (In other words, a great book for ANYTIME!)
Girls' Night Out.......2006-06-02
A host of authors have come together to produce another anthology benefitting Operation War Child. This alone makes the book worth purchasing. Beyond that, several of the entries are truly enjoyable. Dog Lover will definitely give you more than one chuckle, while Wishing Carefully or A Thing of Beauty will give you smiles of a more profound nature. There are some stories that just won't be for you, but the few gems and the good cause combined should make this one to think about.

Morgan's saga continues in this double-length, stand alone SWEEP book. Moira's Story will shoot readers forward through time, where we will meet Morgan's daughter-raised as a blood witch-and follow her adventures as the progeny of one of the most powerful blood witches the Seven Great Clans have ever known.

ugh, dissapointment.......2007-09-07
I found this book really hard to read. It's still good, but I only suggest reading this if you enjoyed the books that were from a different point of view. If you want to know how Morgan's story ends go on a fansite and read some spoilers.
Made me cry =.......2006-07-03
[--sorry bout the spoilers]
You know, after reading the sweep series, you jus *had* to read its conclusion. But after reading the prologue, I almost started crying, I mean what is a Sweep book without HUNTER!!
<33 And I couldn't get myself to read the book, and just skimmed through it to get a glimpse of what will happen and I couldn't believe that Hunter could just die like that. And I read jus bits from the last page and concluded that he is still alive which calmed me a bit so I went on reading. But then the introduction of Moira, as COLM's daughter and I could not LOOK at the cover (which I suppose, is a picture of Moira) and I was just like NO! and kept ranting about it to all my family and friends who had no idea what I was talking about. And I almost ripper off the cover but it's a library book so I just stuck a piece of paper on it =P psh im weird i noe. And then I went back to skimming through to confirm that Moira is NOT Colm's daughter and soon found out that she wasn't and was finally satisfied enough to make myself read on. I liked the happy ending and all but I don't know, SIXTEEN YEARS was just a bit too much, and I wanted a little Hunter/Morgan-ness. *shrug* Overall, this book kept me feeling depressed-ish for weeks on end. Poor Hunttteerr. So if you're a sentimental freak like me, maybe you could consider staying away from the book.
Avoid this book if you are a Sweep fan.......2006-03-23
This book is AWFUL! The Sweep series is a incredible series but this 'special edition' is really crap. Firstly Moria, is barley even an original character, she behaves and feels so much like Morgan that its creepy, her encounter with the dark wave is way too much like Alisa's and her realationship with the neighbor boy is similar to her mother's experience.
The fact that this book is what the series builds up to KILLS me. Firstly I personally feel Cate Tiernan did not write this willingly :) I think it was a gimmick to sell more books.
Secondly, wtf..who in their RIGHT STATE OF MIND would kill off Hunter?! Obviously someone who is very close friends with a certain white jacket, not only has Hunter's life been hard enough with him, losing his parents from the dark wave, then feeling responsible for him brothers death, to finding his parents where one is dead, one hates him and would rather die and commit 'dark magic' than live to get to know his son, but then he is taken to some cursed island to ROT while his soulmate almost dies from grief then marries another man! Poor Hunter, this book infuritates me!
I could go on and on but I have done enough of that that on other forums dedicated to Sweep so I will save you all from my ranting ability and just say:
TAKE MY WORD FOR IT DONT READ THE BOOK IF YOU LOVE SWEEP THE SERIES. But if you havent read sweep, and happen to come across this book by itself help yourself, it would be safe for you to endure this book because you havent read all about the other characters and seen so much promise to let it all just float away on some stupid ferry boat.....>.>
ok im done.....
Morgan Rowlands and Moira Byrne.......2005-03-02
I am sad that this is the last book of the Sweep series. I as satisfied with this book but a lil dissapointed. I was glad the Morgan still contacted her adopted family and Bree and Robbie. I was satisfied that the book mentioned what was going on with them and how they were along with some of the blood witches that were in the series. I was dissapointed that it didn't tell us how Alisa was doing or if she was still into Wicca or if she was initiated. Also some of the coven members from Kithic were not even mentioned. I was glad that Killian stay close to Morgan but his mother and other brother and sister were really mean to Morgan. Ciaran was mean to Morgan before he died. She had to do what she had to do. Iona is a bitch. Morgan is the Destroyer, the sguiurs dan. Morgan is like her birth father but she is the good version of him. Morgan can heal and destroy. There is a light and dark side to everything. Everything has to be in balance. Moira seems to have inheritied a lot of her mothers power. They both live in Ireland and Morgan has rebuild Belwicket along with some of the members that had survived the dark wave. Hunter is also in this book and so is Sky. Morgan is the most powerful witch that anyone has ever know. This book is good so I gave it 3 1/2 stars because of some of my dissapointments. Read to see what happens to Morgan, Hunter, and her daughter.
Disappointment.......2005-02-22
I was so disappointed with this book. It is true that the book ties up a few loose ends left in the rest of the series but not ones I was interested in. like Morgan and Ciaran's relationship after book 14. The relationship dies completely. it doesn't involve any of the characters that you grew to know in the series, Bree, Robbie, Mary K, Raven, Alyce, Daniel. Also, even though this is Morgan's daughter's story, it's still the same problems all over again! "I don't know who I am anymore," "what if he's betraying me," "I have to find my father," "what the heck's going on?" blah blah blah. It's boring. This book is a TERRIBLE way to end a series. I don't recommend anyone who enjoyed the Sweep series to read this book.

I Like the First One Better!.......2007-06-21
Sixteen year old Destiny Weller and her twin sister Livvy used to be very close, until Livvy chose to become a vampire. Now Destiny will do anything to get her sister back. But then Destiny realises that the only way to bring Livvy back is if Destiny becomes a vampire too!
A good book. I liked the first one better. I really disliked the ending.

An astounding prequel.......2006-11-05
This is a fabulous, well written book.
The story about the dangerous vamipres proceed in "Dangerous Girls 2".
I must admit that the first book seemed better; there were some tedious and slow bits in this one. I will not spill to much information here, but there were, to me, some disappointments.
Look apart from that, though, this is a great book.
Very good and sad.......2006-01-07
This book is DAMN good. I hope a third one comes out. It's different. At the end my heart cried out cause it was so sad. I feel sorry for the twins. Very EXCELLENT book. One of RL Stine's best!
Death by Night.......2005-09-28
The book is about these two girls who are twins but one is transformed into a blood sucking vampire. Destiny is trying to transform her sister Livvy back to a human. The father is a vet who is attempting to find a cure for the full-fledged vampires, because he has already found a cure for the half vampire and half human.
I loved the way it was always a mystery of what was going to happen next. This is because it was a book you didn't want to put down. It also made you want to turn the pages as soon as possible. I really didn't dislike the end but it didn't end the way I thought it would.
If you like books with a lot of suspense then you would love this book. I would recommend you read the first book Dangerous Girls.
Livvy and Destiny Face Their Destiny.......2005-09-20
Livvy and Destiny were bitten by a vampire at summer camp. Once home, Destiny was cured but Livvy went on to embrace life as a vampire. Now Destiny and her family must continue to deal with their new lives.
The twins' father is still trying to find a cure for vampirism but must balance that quest with his role as a vampire hunter. The vampires are multiplying and the town is getting scared. It is time to make a full attack on the vampire community.
But all through this we follow Livvy and Destiny and how their lives as twins are intertwined despite living on opposite sides of the dawn. The book concludes in a way that one can accept it as a final ending or as a bridge to further stories about the twins.

Buy This Book Before Making A Business Decision, Ladies!.......2006-10-15
****
This is a great introductory book about what an adult sex toy business for women involves. It is strictly for a woman who is interested in distributing sex toys via the party plan method in an extremely tasteful way (as opposed to a sleezy or crude way). It would not be helpful for men who wish to start this type of business, as the book is written strictly for women. It also would not be helpful to a woman who is interested in selling hard-core adult sex products in the ways men have traditionally sold such products to each other (via pornographic sites, adult book stores, etc.) This is for the "new way" of marketing sexual aids to women, via romance, self-empowerment, and selling "sexual fulfillment"---techniques that are unique to this business of woman-to-woman sales.
The book covers MLMs and already established party plans. It also covers starting your own business from scratch. It compares the different costs and benefits of each method of business.
The greatest value of this book is that it covers what it's really, really like to be in the adult sex toy business, things I'd never thought of, like customer returns, liability and local laws, product delivery and privacy, control of guests at parties (yes, they can get rowdy!), the hard work and commitment necessary to be successful, and more. It really opened my eyes, changing my idea of the adult sex toy business as something that seemed like a fun and funky idea to the harsh realities of operating such a business. It is not a discouraging book, just a realistic book. It helps you to evaluate if you are the type of person that would truly enjoy the day-to-day operations of "having a romance business" (a popular euphemism for this business) before you run out and spend several hundred to over a thousand dollars to buy a kit from a company.
It is written by the two women who started Lady Bliss, a popular adult sex toy party plan, and details the often humorous experiences they ran into. As you might imagine, it comes off as being a little biased towards joining a party plan versus starting your own party plan, but just a little; this is a little natural, since this is the author's business. The authors cover several other party plans as well as sharing their own experiences starting their own, so you definitely get enough information to make a good decision and get started in your own research, saving you lots of time and even more money.
This book is a fun read (as you can tell by the cover) even if you don't plan on ever starting a business, but are just curious. If you are thinking of starting a "romance business", you'd be wise to buy this book; I'm certain you won't be sorry.

A Must read for beginners .......2005-08-30
I think this was a o.k book on the toy party industry and I recommend it to those starting out in the business and need some idea or base in which to start. I learned a few things from it but as you advanced and need more training and understanding a source I would recommend is [...]

Sharp, Sweet, Stealthy.......2004-10-14
I don't know why I waited so long to read this stellar collection. I agree with the other reviewers--the very best selections might be "Flowers in the Dustbin" and "Grog" and "Poison in the Human Machine," and of course the title story, but they're all good with moments or lines that are amazing. There is geniune emotion in Nissen's stories, and geniune insight in girls growing up, which is what I look for and hope for but rarely ever find. I haven't enjoyed a book so much since Jennifer Paddock's novel, A SECRET WORD, came out in the spring. It's that good! I couldn't recommend OUT OF THE GIRLS' ROOM AND INTO THE NIGHT more highly.
Another Iowa success story.......2004-06-03
Being a student at The University of Iowa, where the author attended the number one writers workshop in the nation, I know her ability. This collection is so real and relatable. The stories paint beautiful pictures of what life is like. If you want to read something real with great language and presence this is it!
Wonderful.......2004-05-23
Very believable, original, emotionally-evocotive work. As I read these stories I feel admiration for the author's sensitivity, deep life-awareness and skillful use of language to convey her characters and their situations. They are jammed with aliveness and flavour. Very enjoyable.
Beautiful and disarming collection of short stories!.......2004-04-28
Out of the Girls' Room and Into the Night has several of the most memorable short stories I've read as of late. This collection of quirky and disarming stories is thought provoking and disturbing at times. The ones that touched me the most were the ones centered on eating disorders, infidelity and death. "Grog," "The Mushroom Girl," "Flowers in the Dustbin, Poison in the Human Machine," and "Accidental Love" are my favorites. The aforementioned stories spoke to me. Are you in the bargain for a literary short story collection centered on women? I suggest you pick up this gem!
exceptional.......2003-08-05
This book was very good, but I didn't write a review to praise this book, only to coreect "Tiara"'s misconception. Gwynne doesn't end up with Donovan because of alcohol. Do you know why she had to tell herself, "I can do this, I can do this . . ." She is a lesbian who is in love with her best friend, and she feels betrayed when Darcy hooks up with a guy. Gwynne obviously isn't ready to tell Darcy how she feels, so when Darcy hooks up with Donovan's best friend--Gwynne decides to play it straight, so to speak. I missed this the first time I read it, along with other themes in some of the other stories.
Book Description
The USA Today bestselling collection from 21 of the hottest female writers around
In this must-have short-story anthology, Jennifer Weiner revisits one of her Good in Bed characters (and tells the story from, ahem, his point of view), Jill A. Davis (Girls' Poker Night) offers a darkly humorous take on starting over in New York and working with "the Elizabeths," Sarah Miynowski (Milkrun) tempts fate (and an on-again-off-again boyfriend) and Alisa Valdes-Rodriguez (The Dirty Girls Social Club) considers how different the words lady and woman are when paired with cat. Girls' Night In features stories about growing up, growing out of, moving out, moving on, falling apart and getting it all together. So turn off your cell phone and curl up on the couch; this is one Girls' Night In you won't want to miss.

Fun, if a little dark.......2007-03-11
I first read the companion, Girl's Night Out, and thought I'd read this one because I enjoyed the other. I was not very familiar with the genre, but did enjoy both books. I found this one a bit darker than the sequel, but that actually was a nice change. It really changed my vision of what chick lit was (for the better). I also like the shorter stories. Sometimes I just don't have a lot of time to invest in reading and enjoy the feeling of completion.
Light and fun, with some twists and turns throughout!.......2007-01-07
I always look forward to these short story collections, and I love the fact that some of the money goes to charity. Not all of the stories are amazing, but there are usually enough to keep me going until the end!
Some of the stories that stood out:
I liked "Traveling Light" by Carole Matthews. Even though I didn't agree with the adultery part, it was interesting to read about the different attitudes of Americans and Brits, and I the traveling details were great!
"Changing People" by Sophie Kinsella, where revenge was sweet.
"Revenge" by Emily Barr. I have always liked her stories. Read her novel "Cuba," as well.
"In Agony" by Isabel Wolff was quick and entertaining.
"Rudy" by Lisa Jewell had a male character obsessing about a woman, and with one word, he worries that he has become the stalkee.
"Acting Strangely" by Chris Manby was cute. It's very helpful to have an actor friend with many faces show up when someone is trying to dump you to make you out to be the best thing they have ever had.
My favorite story of the collection was "Know it All" by Sarah Mlynowski. The main character's slightly psychic roommate keeps telling her that her ex-boyfriend is going to meet up with another woman, and get over her. Though she doesn't want to be with him, she likes his attention and keeps intervening. Then she realizes that she wants him to be happy and lets fate step in, with a little push.
Most of the 21 stories have something to offer and I read through the book quickly. I look forward to reading some of the novels by these authors!
Short and sweet.......2006-03-17
I know they were short stories but after I finished one section I kept wishing that it would have went on and we could have learned more about the characters. Cat Lady and Party Planner were my favorite stories and I just wish they had them in a longer version.
