Book Description
Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

Calculations are only as good as your numbers.......2007-08-03
Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.
Pants on fire?.......2007-07-19
Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.
Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09
There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.
For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.
Very Interesting.......2007-03-07
It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.
History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10
Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.
I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.
Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.
Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.
I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.
This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.

Exciting romantic drama with a great twist.......2006-07-28
New Orleans police detective Charlotte LeBlanc dropped out of law school and joined the police force when her younger sister Emily was murdered six years earlier while in college in Baton Rouge. But a crime similar in nature to Emily's is gripping the city of New Orleans - Francesca, the fiance of wealthy hotelier JP Stratton is found strangled in her apartment, with a black silk stocking left behind as a calling card - just like Emily's murder.
Charlotte gets her partner Vince to remain mum on the fact that the crime is similar to her sisters' so that she won't be pulled off the case. The main suspects are JP and the four Stratton sons, who all seem to have been at Francesca's apartment the night she was slain. Charlotte and eldest son Cole have an instant attraction to each other that she fears acting on since one of them is a murderer, and could she really have anything to do with a man related to her sister's killer? Meanwhile, her partner Vince is grappling with his attraction to her youngest sister Anne and fearing the nine year age gap (she is 23).
With a plot and twist straight out of CSI, Hingle's latest is loaded with suspense and chemistry between the two leads. Unfortunately, Hingle does not fully realize the potential for this explosive romantic relationship, so it takes a back seat to the main story, which is first rate.
Good plot, subpar romance.......2006-07-05
Black Silk was a pure romantic suspense, and I mostly liked it.
The plot was well-crafted with lots of twists and turns. The storyline was the dominant part of the story. The murder and solving it were the focus of the book - which was good and bad. I liked the plot. I wasn't bored with it. At the same time, with so much of the focus on the murders, the romance suffered.
There was a workable chemistry between Charlotte and Cole, and the situation they were in, with her a cop and him a possible suspect added a great dynamic. The problem was that the author just didn't spend enough time on them. There were few true scenes between them. Most of their interaction was regarding the murder case. Everything between them was very superficial. It was all snap, snap snap...they meet, there's chemistry, and oh, hey, they love each other and want a future. There really needed to be a few more scenes between them to develop the bond.
Aside from that, the book was good. As I said, I liked the plot, and I also liked the side story of the romance between Charlotte's other sister and Charlotte's cop partner. That was a nice addition.
Rating: 3.5 / 5
Predictable.......2006-06-16
I found this book to be very predictable, with the murderer obvious from the get-go. I also thought the romance between Charlie and Cole could've been written better...it seemed to come way too fast and out of nowhere, without any of the buildup usually found in these types of books.
Solidly Written Police Procedural--minus the sparks.......2006-06-07
This is a by-the-numbers, well written and plotted with good characters police procedural. Many readers enjoy this style of book because everything is orderly, logical and expected. The trouble with that is it easily can become plodding and average. The author carefully keeps to reality, modern day, with no "bells and whistles" or outrageous components requiring the reader to suspend belief. The romance between the lead characters is something to anticipate but it comes way too late in the story and wraps up quickly. This book could be recommended to anyone from an older teen to your grandfather and they would enjoy it. But for an experienced reader, a better book using the characters of a wealthy male businessman and a dedicated female cop is any of the Roarke-Eve Dallas series by Nora Robb. Understanding in advance, that it would be like comparing an orange to a candied kumquat--both equally delicious, but requiring a different taste expectation.
Wonderful New Orleans suspense!.......2006-03-09
When seasoned New Orleans Detective Charlotte "Charlie" LeBlanc is called to the scene of the City's latest homicide, she isn't disturbed by the murder scene until she notices the one silk stocking left next to the victim's posed body. Charlie's sister was murdered six years prior, her body left in the very same manner, posed after death with a single black silk stocking placed next to her lifeless body. Charlie found her sister's body and has dedicated her life to finding the person responsible and seeing that justice is served. As the list of suspects grows to include most of the immediate family of the latest victim's fiancé, Charlie finds herself drawn to Cole Stratton, the estranged son of the fiancé.
Cole Stratton immediately admired the beautiful, determined detective, despite her tenacity in questioning him and his siblings. Knowing that Charlie's life was touched by the same brutal violence as his father's fiancée helps him understand her devoted resolve in pursuing this killer. Cole is terribly attracted to Charlie, and is equally determined to pursue a relationship with her, but first he must convince her that he is not the killer.
BLACK SILK is a wonderfully written book with rich descriptions of the sights, sounds and flavors of New Orleans. Charlie and Cole are intelligent characters and are intensely passionate in their desire for one another. Secondary characters play an integral role in this book and a budding relationship between Charlie's remaining sister and her partner is refreshing. Just as you would expect from Metsy Hingle, BLACK SILK is filled with wonderful romance, exciting suspense and heartfelt emotion.

Mixed Review.......2007-09-01
Spoiler warning!!!
I had very mixed feelings about this book. First, I really do think it is finely crafted and very well written. It surprised me at every turn. It is a very provocative book in terms of the way it handles the romance. For that reason, I liked it in most respects, but my problems with the book have left me feeling unresolved about the love-story angle of it.
I felt so very sorry for Graham with his experience of being pilloried--clearly he had some kind of breakdown and has been "acting out" ever since in response to the experience. So I did like the fact that his behavior was explained. I also liked the way the relationship with Submit developed over time. I liked that the romance took its time fleshing the relationship out.
But my problems began when Submit picked up Henry's cruel serialized story of Graham's life. It seemed a very harsh irony that she is the person who (unknowingly) keeps him in the pillory because of the machinations of Henry.
But what was even worse was that after Submit finds out just how she has been used by Henry to punish Graham for him beyond the grave (by keeping Graham in a public pillory), she continues to do so because her writing has become so important to her. On the one hand, I was glad she found something of her own that she could do and make money at--but the reason the stories sell doesn't seem to be because she's such a great writer, but because of her subject matter--Graham's sordid life. And Submit just completely disregards Graham's feelings about it (sort of saying, "Graham, you're a big boy; you can take it")--so now it's not just Henry who betrays him, it's Submit, the woman he's fallen in love with, too. I didn't buy her argument that she wasn't Henry's avatar.
And I just don't know why Graham falls in love with a woman who could do such a thing to him. I suppose it's because of her honesty? Or is it really some kind of sado-masochism? While it is true that Graham has already made a spectacle of himself through his actions, it seems terribly cruel of Submit to be a party to it. I could see Submit using her writing to make a point to Graham about how he is putting *himself* in the pillory, but when he tries to reform, must she then use *his* life as the material for her stories? Why not use her own? Or why not make up stories? Or if she must use Graham's life, why not use her newly discovered craft to show that he was not guilty of all that he had been accused of? (Perhaps that is what she is doing when she starts the new serial, but the book does not make it clear whether she is going to paint not only Graham's sins but the sins against Graham by others.)
I wondered if the author was making a statement about how a writer's art comes from someone else's pain, and that anyone associated with a writer must expect his or her private life to be put on view, for good or bad, no matter how painful it might have been.
Basically, it's amazing.......2007-05-09
Consider a top-notch romance novel, add in some "French Lieutenant's Woman," Henry James and Thomas Hardy--ok, now you have an idea what this book is like. Although I'm a huge romance fan, I wouldn't venture to class this one--or any other romance novel to my knowledge--with literary giants like those three I mentioned; but with this one, it's a damn near thing. This novel is my definition of genre-transcending; it definitely belongs to a particular genre, but nonchalantly, exhileratingly, breaks almost all genre conventions. As a result, I doubt that readers unfamiliar with romance novels can appreciate it the way we, who have read dozens or even hundreds of them, can. Nor will this novel appeal to readers who read romance exclusively. But who cares--give it a try anyway!
Most of the "plot development" is actually character development. This doesn't mean that the novel is boring--I read all 4 or 500 odd pages in one breathless sitting. So brilliant is the character development that even *dead* characters who never appear in the novel are better developed than they ought to be. I think this is what I love about this novel--it belongs to one of my favorite categories in the world: things that are better than they have to be. Better conceived, better plotted, better developed, better researched. Every time I had to look up a word in the dictionary or reread a sentence to get all of its nuances, I disbelieved that this was just a genre work.
Anyway, this is probably not a very helpful review, but I think others have done an admirable job of describing the characters and situations. Not much happens in the way of conventional romance plotting--no kidnappings, no flights of insanity, no unwanted marriages, etc. What does happen is something that feels a lot like falling in love in real life--you with the characters and at long last, the characters with each other. Truly remarkable.
Not as good as her other books.......2006-01-22
I will preface by saying that I normally really like Judith Ivory's books. This one is the exception. I cannot pinpoint why. It wasn't as steamy as her other books for one but there was something more lacking and I am not sure what it is. I was just disappointed. Don't let that stop you from picking her other books up because I really liked them. So, if you are just starting out on Ivory, I would recommend one of her other books like Sleeping Beauty. Her writing under Cuevas is good too.
unconventional and fabulous.......2005-06-10
Black Silk breaks a lot of the rules of conventional romance, but it's so well written that it's a success nonetheless.
The hero and heroine are amazingly vivid, fully-fleshed individuals; Ivory is able to craft unique personalities, and describe a real depth of character, through small details - like Graham's watches, or Submit's preference for taffeta fabric.
The romance develops over quite a length of time, and very slowly; this book is not particularly steamy. Probably the most objectionable thing about Black Silk is that for more than three-quarters of the novel, Graham's primary sexual relationship is not with Submit. This is obviously not the usual romantic fare. Even more, the other woman is really likable and her relationship with Graham is frequently described in a positive manner. She and Submit get along just fine.
The way that the plot is set up - with the love triangle surrounding Graham, then the introduction of a second triangle with Submit at the center, Graham being on one side and her dead husband Henry on the other - makes this book less of an 'escape' or a 'romp' than most romances.
But because Graham and Submit have to negotiate their relationship with one another via their relationship with others, the story is natural and realistic. It approaches circumstances that plenty of people experience today. And both Graham and Submit emerge as complex, mature adults who are nonetheless imperfect.
The dialogue is fabulous. The writing is top notch. I think this is a very successful romance despite the rule-breaking and I recommend it highly.
Exquisite!.......2005-01-20
Wow, Judith Ivory does it again. Her flawed characters, rich plot, sensual tension, historical details and smooth writing style are exquisite.

Very Disappointed.......2002-10-29
I was really excited about this collection of African-American EROTICA when I picked the book up from the self. The cover was great and the intro had me hype.
As I began to read, my excitement grew less and less...I was not very pleased. The stories were not as erotic to me as maybe they were to the writers. I am not a writer so I will not criticize the writings of anyone. Different things turn on different people.
I will point out one of the good stories. Me Between My Own by Camika Spencer. Now you may look at my location and see I am from Dallas, as is the artist. I have never read anything by Ms. Spencer but her short story hit home. I am going to have to pick up her novel.
It was just O K.......2002-08-12
I guess I expected a lot more from this book, the stories were just OK and not particularly that erotic...I seen better books on Black erotica you should search those out.
All-Star Authors deliver!.......2002-07-29
This book is a welcome addition to my collection of erotica. I was thoroughly impressed with the wide range of thought-provoking and sensual tales by my favorite renowned authors collaborating with unknown writers daring to make their debut explosively. I would give it a much higher rating if every story was as hot as the last.
Black Erotica at its best!.......2002-03-25
This book is one of the best erotica books I've evr read. It's so graphic and detailed. It's itelligent, witty and powerful. The stories have kept me interested for days.
I really appreciate the variety as well!
Book Description
An insightful overview and synthesis of an important aspect of black women's history . . . A useful guide for exploring gender issues and black women's culture in myriad cities across the country.
-- Darlene Clark Hine, Michigan State University
During the Progressive Era, over 150 African American women's clubs flourished in Chicago. Through these clubs, women created a vibrant social world of their own, seeking to achieve social and political uplift by educating themselves and the members of their communities. In politics, they battled legal discrimination, advocated anti-lynching laws, and fought for suffrage. In the tradition of other mothering, in which the the community shares in the care and raising of all its children, the club women established kindergartens, youth clubs, and homes for the elderly.
In
Toward a Tenderer Humanity and a Nobler Womanhood, Anne Meis Knupfer documents how the club women created multiple allegiances through social and club networks and sheds light on the life experiences of African American women in urban centers throughout the country. Drawing upon the primary documents of African American newspapers, journals, and speeches of the time, this book chronicles and analyzes the complexity and richness of the African American club women's lives as they lifted while others climbed.
Book Description
In this fast-paced novel by D. L. Birchfield, a hard-luck Oklahoma Choctaw lawyer, Hom-Astubby, decides that doing things on Indian time just isn't compatible with practicing law. When he tries his hand at becoming an outdoor photographer instead, Hom-Astubby finds himself being driven nearly crazy by a curious problem he never expected to encounter--having constant good luck.
Hom-Astubby fears that his unbridled good fortune has come to an end, though, when he befriends a huge abandoned dog while on vacation in southwestern Colorado and then suddenly finds himself at the center of the biggest manhunt and the biggest media event in that state's history. Hunted by Colorado's most powerful cop, with whose girlfriend Hom-Astubby has become infatuated, he can only hope that his luck hasn't run out altogether as he plays detective in a baffling murder.
Hom-Astubby seeks the help of former girlfriends he hasn't seen for years--who aren't exactly waiting by the phone for him to call--and even puts his fate in the hands of a Navajo-Comanche bull rider, as he races the clock to solve this murder and keep himself from being arrested as its perpetrator.
The first in a series of mysteries featuring this appealing character, Birchfield's Black Silk Handkerchief is sure to keep readers on their toes.
Customer Reviews:
A well crafted mystery.......2007-01-16
The Black Silk Scarf is well written mystery with a great
Native American prospective. Hom-Astubby, the hero, has a great
ruminating style of figuring out his life and the situations
he gets himself into. It is exciting to read such a interesting
plot as told in a truly original voice. Hom-Astubby gives a
nice view of Choctaw's take on not only a well thought out
mystery, but on his ways of dealing with and views of the anglo
society. I cannot wait to read the second in the series,
which I hope is followed by many more by this knowledgeable author.

Just finished "Black Silk Handkerchief". Wow! What a great book.
An excellent story line with lots of little interesting tid bits that kept me glued to the pages.
The lead charactors are very like-able.
The author really knows how to turn up the heat as the book picks up speed to the point where any interuptions or distractions in my reading became very irriating.
I highly recommend this book and can't wait for volume two in the series.
Please believe me when I say that every book this author writes gets better and better, to the point where he has truly become one of my favorite authors.
This is not easy for me to say because D.L. Birchfield is my older brother and older brothers can be a little overbearing and intolerant at times. I have to say though that as older brothers go, he's not so bad.
You don't have to take my word for it if you think I might be prejudiced toward the book just because we're related.
He won the Western Writers of America "Spur Award" for his previous novel "Field of Honor", which is a funny, engrossing book in itself.
If you like a good read then get "Black Silk Handkerchief".
I think you'll like it.

Book Description
Driven by a vague craving for something outside her well-ordered world, software engineer Kate O'Neill leaves her long-time lover David and her home in Boston to take a job in Bangkok, Thailand. There, she becomes involved with two very different men. Somtow Rajchitraprasong, a handsome member of the Thai aristocracy, is an unabashed seeker of pleasure. In his company, Kate finds herself engaging in ever more voluptuous and outrageous scenes of carnal excess. Gregory Marshall, charismatic proprietor of a sex bar, blazes with raw sexual power. He challenges Kate to submit herself to his will, and she finds herself responding despite herself. When David shows up in Bangkok, Kate realizes that she must make a choice among her three lovers, and finally comes to understand her true desires.
Customer Reviews:
A Hot Sensual Erotic Thriller.......2003-07-22
Kate leaves her lover David and goes to Thailand, where she seems to loose her inhibitions she had with David. Kate gets involved with men and women, exploring her sexuality in ways she never felt she could with David. There is a plot of sabotage which is well written until the end of the story. This aurthor had me wishing to be Kate throughout the book. Not for those who are not open minded.
Journey into dark sensuality.......2003-07-17
Kate is in search of something/anything exciting and takes a job in Thailand. She immediately falls into a imbroglio of sexual/sensual pleasure with two very different lovers. The journey is definitely of sexual self discovery and exploration and exceptionally written.
I turned every page of this book and found compelled to read another page and then another until I was finished. Every page was exciting to put the book down was verboten.
There is an air to this novel that stays with you after reading the last page of the book and your compelled to think of your own reality and the choices Kate made her reality.
A Delicious and Steamy Erotic Novel.......2003-01-06
Raw Silk is a well-crafted excursion into sensual exploration. The characters are vivid and the narrative moves steadily from adventure to adventure as Kate explores her desires and the mysteries of Thailand.
There isnýt a dull paragraph anywhere. Raw Silk kept me turning pages in search of the next layer of steamy prose. Ms. Sarai keeps you on the edge of your chair and panting. This is a rewarding read.
A NOVEL THAT'S SURE TO GET THE BLOOD STIRRING!!!.......2002-10-30
Though I've been a writer of erotica for well over twenty years, I actually read very little of the stuff, preferring the pleasure of novels in the horror/ mystery/suspense genres. Occasionally, however, a beautifully written piece of erotica does come along that grabs my attention and makes me realize how far I still have to go in becoming a good writer. RAW SILK by Lisabet Sarai is just such a novel. This is the story of lovely software engineer, Katherine O'Neil, who leaves her home and lover in Boston to take a job with DigiThai Ltd in Bangkok, Thailand. During Kate's first week of work there, she unexpectedly becomes sexually involved with one of the owners of the company, Somtow Rajchitraprasong, and with one of the company's clients, Gregory Marshall. Somtow is a married Thai prince who seems to be overly addicted to the delicious pleasures of the flesh and is more than willing to help Kate explore her own sexuality. Marshall, on the other hand, is the owner of a local sex club called the Grotto and has a raw animal magnetism that makes him alluring. Lucky Kate is instantly drawn to both men with a force that's almost overwhelming in the nature of its power. When Marshall introduces her to the world of S&M with the intention of making her a sexual slave, she finds herself giving in to hidden emotions that threaten to engulf her with their smoldering intensity. In time she will have to make a choice between the two gentlemen, not to mention her old lover, David, who suddenly arrives in Bangkok to win her back. As if Kate didn't have enough to worry about, there's also a conspiracy brewing within the upper echelons of DigiThai-a conspiracy that may bring the company down to its knees with her as the scapegoat. There's no doubt in my mind that RAW SILK is one of the hottest novels I've read in the past several years. Though it was written by a woman for a predominantly female audience, I found myself aroused in ways that surprised even me. There's definitely something for everyone in this novel: straight sex, bi-sex, male domination, female domination, threesomes, and the list goes on and on. But more than that, this book is exquisitely written. Ms. Sarai is a poet who knows the magic of words and how to make them come alive for the reader. She's able to capture the sheer beauty of Bangkok as well as its crowded streets, strange scents, constant noise, and the open friendliness and hospitality of its people toward outsiders. I felt at home there and experienced strong memories returning of when I lived in Bangkok during the late sixties. I also found all of the main characters in the book to be fully developed and rather intriguing, and even the information about computer software programming managed to capture my attention. I have to admit that it was a no-brainer as to whom Kate would pick to live her life with at the end. I can say that RAW SILK, like authentic Thai food, is a hot and spicy dish best suited for those readers in need of a little excitement in their otherwise dull and restless lives. It certainly spiced up my life, and I now intend to keep an eye out for more novels by Lisabet Sarai!
An incredible, senusal, and sexy read........2002-09-04
Raw Silk offers a wonderfully erotic, escapist read. Software designer, Kate O' Neil takes an new job - in Thailand. In the exotic world of the far east, she meets two different, but equally fascinating lovers. Both expand her sensual horizons, introducing her to sensualities and kinks of her fantasies. But throughout her sexual adventures, Kate still harbors fond memories of the man she left behind in Boston, and in the midst of her sensual experiences, she finds herself embroiled in fraud, deceit and business espionage.
A not-to-be-missed read!!!

A gentle story about learning to like oneself.......2006-03-13
Corn Silk And Black Braids is a gentle story about learning to like oneself. A young African-American girl named Sarah is embarrassed by her hairstyle; when she meets Mary Beth, who has a beautiful blond head of hair, she feels frustrated and sad about her own unruly tresses. With the help of her Aunt Lubelle, she tries many hairstyles that she dislikes, but at last finds one special style - corn row braids - that she can delight in. Later when she speaks to Mary Beth, she learns Mary Beth's hair also gives her problems. Sarah learns a valuable lesson about deep down beauty, and the importance of loving and accepting oneself, in this touching and picturebook beautifully illustrated in full color.
Beauty.......2005-12-31
Sarah has hair that isn't easily managed, and after seeing another young girl with silky blond hair in pretty ribbons, she wants her hair to look the same way. She is convinced that her hair is ugly because it isn't as fair and flowing. Noticing how silky and light the material hanging from the corn cobs is, she pulls out some of the silk and pretends it's her hair. Shortly after, she shares her dissatisfaction with her aunt who agrees to try fixing her hair in several different styles until Sarah is happy with the results. After quite a few tries, Sarah is pleased when her hair is braided into beautiful cornrows.
During the next outing, she runs into the same little girl who admires Sarah's braids and tells her about the problems she has with her own hair. Sarah is shocked that such pretty hair can be a problem, but she learns that beautiful things come in various colors, textures, and styles.
Dealing with issues of self-esteem, feminine beauty, and cultural awareness, OF CORN SILK AND BLACK BRAIDS is not only a beautiful book and story, but also a much needed message for young girls trying to fit in. I enjoyed this story and would recommend it to mothers, aunts, and even big sisters to help ease the fears of young girls regarding their outer appearance.
