Book Description
Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

Calculations are only as good as your numbers.......2007-08-03
Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.
Pants on fire?.......2007-07-19
Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.
Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09
There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.
For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.
Very Interesting.......2007-03-07
It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.
History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10
Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.
I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.
Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.
Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.
I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.
This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.

Book Description
On a calm moonlit night, as the scent of jasmine and pine embraced the island of Ascension, the pirate prince Lazar di Fiori returns with lethal grace to avenge what was stolen from him: his kingdom, his birthright, his soul. . . .
Allegra Monteverdi, the daughter of Lazar's sworn enemy, proves an uncommonly powerful adversary. She throws herself on his mercy, her courage and beauty touching his cold, unforgiving heart. He agrees to spare the lives of her family--but only if Allegra sails away with him as his captive. For his quest for vengeance still burns fiercely, and he will settle for nothing less than Allegra's body and soul.
Alone at sea with this dark, intriguing man, moving between seduction and fear, Allegra gazes into eyes as deep and mysterious as the night and sees who this pirate really is. One of the best Pirate love stories I've read........2007-08-25
I can not read a book that isnt in my interest. This book I have read and I absolutely thought its movie worthy. Ms Foley has captivated an epic story that is pirate to the bone. If you are looking for a pirate romance book, this is one you need to read! This book as I tell my friends with my heart loving pirate tales, is exactly right up my alley! Read and have fun reading it!
Book #1 in this trilogy.......2007-07-11
This book starts right off and goes. Ahhh, the romance is there from the beginning. There are "things" that have to be overcome, of course, but the characters are likeable. There was a time (or three) I would have liked to thrwack Lazar over the head, but hey, got make the story interesting I suppose. This book deals with child molestation, too. FYI I enjoyed reading this and will move on to book #2 in this triology.
Great first novel by Foley!.......2007-03-16
Reasons I thought I wouldn't go wrong with The Pirate Prince: I love pirates, I love heroes with wounded souls, and I love Gaelen Foley novels. And so, in spite of the awful back cover of the scantily-clad man on a ship, I bought it and sat back and gave it a whirl. Well, this effort is definitely not much different from Foley's Knight Miscellany series, but it is a great first part of a trilogy. Set in the island of Ascension, pirate prince Lazar di Fiore plans the perfect revenge against the man who had taken everything from him, and the best way to achieve this is by kidnapping the man's daughter and killing her. However, things don't go his way when he discovers that he doesn't have the conscience to kill an innocent, especially when Allegra Monteverdi is beautiful, spirited and dangerous in that she could ruin his careful plans by stealing his heart away. There are some twists in the novel.
I like the setting of Italy in late eighteenth century. Foley does a wonderful job in describing the setting and I pictured a gorgeous Italian island in one of the most romantic eras I have read about. Foley doesn't focus much on the mores of the era, rather she focuses more on the action/adventure part of the story. The novel is also quite sensual and romantic in the signature Foley way. This is a fast-paced feast and I looked forward to what happened next. I loved Lazar. He is dark, brooding and sexy. I loved the scene in which his head is uncovered and reveals a short-crop haircut (a look that was rare in that era). The kind of vulnerability he shows in that scene touched me because, in spite of his protestations about being soulless, his reaction showed he was definitely not devoid of feelings. Things went uphill from there. The sexual tension between Allegra and Lazar is worth the price of the book. The scenes are wonderful! This book, like all other books I've read by this author, has its villains and suspense sequences, but it is more appropriate here than it was in the Knight series. All in all, I loved The Pirate Prince. I look forward to reading the rest of the Ascension Trilogy. It's really too bad about the back cover. That kind of detracts from my overall reading enjoyment. I have low tolerance for tacky covers, front or back ones.
Great Pirate Prince.......2007-01-11
Gaelen Foley, She is such a great story teller. This book just makes you wish you were there and that you are the lady in question as all her books do.
Wow! Just amazing!.......2006-11-05
This is definetly my favorite Gaelen Foley that I have read so far and one of the best romance novels I have read in a while. The main characters have to go through so much heart break to be together, they have real decisions to make and real obstacles, not like a lot of books where the characters let something petty keep them apart. I think it was also gutsy of the author to tackle the taboo subject of male sexual abuse. It is real, it happens, and while her character might have been in extreme circumstances, I feel that she put serious consideration and heart into her story, and didn't back away from a very hard subject.

Nice Book.......2007-08-15
I enjoyed this one. Follows the normal theme of Connie Mason's books. Starts right off, betrayal, sexy love scenes, righting of a wrong. LOL
This is a nice "don't have to activate too many brain cells" to read type of book. LOL Those are so nice once in awhile.
The setting is another eastern book, i.e., Turkey. There are haraams, etc.
Dariq's mother was actually a British citizen and for whatever reason, she decided she loved his father and came to Turkey to be placed in his father's haraam. (whatever floats your boat, I guess)
Dariq turns into a pirate and sets his main goal in life to make his step brother's life H E L L. He intercepts a ship where he learns a beautiful blonde is being taken to his evil brother (his brother likes blondes) and will be part of his brothers haraam.
(Ack! I can't even spell haraam, so bear with me).
Naturally, Willow is worth more...uh...in tack...but he can't resist taking her virginity.
If you like her books, you will like this one, too.
A....yeah....not so good there Connie.......2007-04-19
This was the first Connie Mason book I've read. I found it predictable, cheesy and silly. I think I might have dozed off a couple of times on the ol' couch while reading it too. I wouldn't recommend buying it new, but maybe you can find it for a cent in the used section. Cause that's about all it's worth to me. Now if you want to read something good...then check out Lisa Kleypas or Kresley Cole. For Lisa, I recommend the Wallflower series. As for Cole, The Immortals After Dark Series. Now those are good books, with great plots, and hot sex!
It's all in what you want from a book.......2006-03-13
If you're looking for superior prose, believable premise or subtle sensuality you might want to consider purchasing a different book. Now if you want simple characters acting against the concept of the plot then this book is for you! I chose to purchase and read "The Pirate Prince" for two reasons, one I was on vacation and I craved light-hearted literary fun, and two I couldn't believe that one book included slave traders, pirates, sultans and the English countryside. It is the definition of cheesy romance spiced up with a few exotic locations.
My main problem with the book was it betrayed itself. For instance (please note this is not a spoiler) if you were an outlaw pirate planning to send a woman to your enemies bed would you actually tell her where your secret stronghold was located? I wouldn't but then again I'm not an outlaw or a pirate. Also the author reuses phrases very often leaving the reader wishing for more from the text.
However I will admit to getting what I wanted from the book and that was a silly plot filled with steamy scenes. Sure some of the same words were used over and over again in these passages but nonetheless it was still enough to keep me reading. One entire chapter is just an elongated erotic scenario.
I say buy this book if you're looking for a romp through the heart of romance cheddar land. If not then maybe you need to take the short walk to the fiction section and browse for something with romance added in.
Great if you like cheesy, predictable, unresearched drivel.......2005-04-20
Admitedly, I picked this one up because it sounded so cheesy. I like reading period romance novels, but this one was ridiculous even by those standards.
The brother of a turkish sultan who has taken to piracy to avoid his brother's fratricidal ways, itercepts his brother's ship that carries a virginal English lady bound for the sultan's harem, finds said lady irresistable, takes her virginity, falls in love, attempts a daring rescue.... And in the end both decide they can't be without the other, only societal pressures state they can't be with each other either... until a rather convenient solution presents itself via the pirate's English mother.
It seems that every other page in this book is a sex scene - written in a style that incites nausea rather than arousal. The rest of the text is also poorly written, the writer using the same descriptive words in scene after scene. So much so that I was very much tempted to research the author so that I might find a mailing address and ship her a thesaurus.
When I read this book, I wanted cheese -- but I got much more of it than I bargained for.
fabulous.......2005-03-17
I picked this book up while on the road travelling, couldn't pick it done even after I reached my destination.
Customer Reviews:
Good action adventure.......2007-08-14
I picked this up because I love pirates, and it held my interest throughout. I agree with the reviewers who were disappointed with the heroine--she was too mercurial, changing her mind in an instant on such important life's decisions such as "should I sail away with this villainous, dashing pirate, or stay with my stolid, nasty fiancee?" It feels like this "I hate you, no I love you" stuff was just drawn out to bulk up the word count of the book because of lack of plot. The many anachronisms grated on me and no one sounded as though they were in the early 1700s, but for some reason the story did hold my interest--I think because I really liked the hero. I agree, more of the hero's POV!
My Wicked Pirate.......2007-08-13
Lady Alanis, granddaughter of the Duke of Dellamore has been patiently waiting for the last three years for her betrothed, Viscount Silverlake to return from Jamaica and marry her. Her patience now worn thin and a desire to see what the world has to offer, Alanis, disregarding her grandfather's warning that war time is no time to travel unescorted as well as the high seas being infested with vicious, cut-throat pirate's sets sail aboard the Pink Beryl. The excitement and sense of freedom are just what she was looking for.
Unfortunately, Alanis' freedom is short lived as pirates, led by the infamous Viper invade her ship and claim Alanis as their ultimate prize. Will Alanis escape her captors or will she become entranced by her sculpted and ruggedly handsome Italian pirate?
Eros, also known as the Viper has had great success making a name for himself as a vicious Italian blackguard who roams the sea with no mercy. His main objective is to reclaim what is rightfully his. On a mission to save his sister with a trade of his latest prize, Eros becomes entranced by his beautiful, stubborn prisoner. Will Eros be able to reclaim his birth-right and quench his feelings for the fair-haired Alanis?
My Wicked Pirate was a welcomed diversion from the chill of the latest ice storms. Rona Sharon is a debut romance author who lives in Tel Aviv, Israel. With romance novels being non-existent over there, she admits she spends a lot of time on Amazon.com purchasing and reading romance novels.
My Wicked Pirate is by far the best historical romance I have read in a long time. The novel is set in the 18th century and is filled with everything a reader could possibly want such as betrayal, war, action, adventure, seduction and much more. Ms. Sharon's eloquent prose enables the reader to envision themselves in the story as well as providing some quick Italian language lessons. There were many times I wish I could have grabbed Alanis and given her a good shaking. This book grabs your attention from page one leaving it very difficult to put it down. I highly recommend this novel to anyone who enjoys romance with a lot of spice. I truly enjoyed this seductive adventure and I anxiously look forward to more works by this incredibly talented author.

Fantastic Historical Romance.......2007-07-26
What a great book this was! All the positive reviews are right, I could barely put it down. Frankly I'm surprised this book hasn't garnered more attention. I think the silly title and the cheesy cover art are holding it back. If I hadn't seen all the positive reviews here I know I wouldn't have picked it up on my own. This is as good (if not better) then books I've read from more well known authors. The storyline is fast paced and the characters were interesting and well fleshed out and even the minor characters felt authentic. There's plenty of history, world travel, drama, action, villainy, romance, intimacy, sizzling sex, you name it. For a first time author Rona Sharon has shown to be very talented. I'll definitely be reading her next book.
Finally--a GREAT romance novel!.......2007-05-04
Once in a while I pick out a book that I simply can't put down. Sadly this doesn't happen often enough. In the case of MY WICKED PIRATE you could say I accidentally stumbled upon it--and what a treat this book was!
The story kept me riveted to my seat. The hero was delicious--an alpha male without the annoying tyrannical traits that some authors seem to admire and that I find misogynistic and tiresome. A heroine with spunk and--even more rarely--backbone. The clash between them was all the hotter for it. The scorching love scenes were very graphic--enough to make me blush--but were tastefully worked into the plot.
I look forward to reading anything this bold new author pens down.
A different heroine would have helped.......2007-04-27
I usually like Pirate romances. A ship provides an interesting place for characters to fall in love. Eros, the pirate was definitely a swashbuckling sea raider. I really liked him. Alanis, his love interest, left a lot to be desired. She was incredibly spoiled and I really get tired of the heroine who over and over screams how much she hates the hero. She is demanding and many times her words are incredibly hurtful. The subplot with Eros's sister, Jasmine, and Alanis's fiancé, Lucas, was brushed over entirely too quickly. How Jasmine could love, Lucas, a man who continually states he would rather be with Alanis and is committed to killing her brother is beyond belief.
Eros wins the prize of most noble and longsuffering pirate. He still loves Alanis despite her childish tantrums, fickleness and arrogance.
The second half of the book feels very different from the first and really saves it from being a one star. Eros must face his past and Alanis becomes less selfish, although she still is imperious. All in all this book gets 2 ½ stars. Great hero, good plotting toward the last part of the book but an unsympathetic heroine.
Book Description
In this wonderfully quirky story, two stubborn souls - a retired pirate and a retired queen - do battle in the sailboat pond in Central Park. Inspired by memories of his past, the Old Pirate has built a marvelous replica of his sailing ship, the Laughing Dog. But when he takes it to the park to launch it in the pond, he finds the waters are not so friendly - the S.S. Uppity Duchess is unwilling to share the seas and takes aim at the Laughing Dog. Who will rule the waves in this offbeat tale of high-seas adventure and friendship found in New York City?

A great story with a good message........1999-10-11
Living in NYC, it was a unique experience to be able to read a book, and then take my son to the place where the action occurs. We pretended to also be pirates, and this made the book a wonderful facillitator for imaginative play. But the book is for more than Manhattanites - I bought it for friends living in the Midwest, and am purchasing it again to send to a friend in Philly. I highly recommend it.

Not Enough Ammo About The Gunner.......2004-04-23
This book about former Pittsburgh Pirate Voice Bob Prince could have been so much better. It was not in depth at all; like author Jim O'Brien's book on Bill Mazeroski, it is mostly reflections of those who knew the man, and a ton of appreciations written by others when Prince died in 1985. It also contains some glaring errors (ie Bobby Thompson's playoff HR was in 1951, not '52, and it's the Florida Marlins, not Miami Marlins.) Also, some more detailed history would have made this a better read. I think more of the Gunner's time with former partner Rosey Roswell would have been classic. And, if you are not from Pittsburgh, many of the references will go over your head. Curt Smith's one chapter on Prince in "Voices of the Game" provides much of the same as this book.
That said, with a personality such as Prince, it's tough to go wrong, and there are some amusing tales (some told many times throughout the book, however.) And, O'Brien does a nice job covering The Gunner's controversial firing in 1975. But there wasn't much about after that, such as Prince's time with ABC (with Warner Wolf and Bob Eucker!) or his time doing the Bucs' cable broadcasts in the early 80's. As Prince himself would say, "Kiss it Goodbye!"
The Prince of Pittsburgh.......2000-01-17
To veteran fans the title can suggest only one thing: Bob Prince, The Gunner, who did the broadcast of the Pittsburgh Pirates from the 1950's through 1975. You don't have to be a fan of the Buccos to enjoy this book, but it helps to be familiar with Prince as he rooted unashamedly for his beloved Bucs. Like other announcers, he had his pet phrases such as "We have a bug on the rug." "You can kiss it goodbye. Home run!" "Let's spread some chicken on the hill with Will." And, of course, at the end of a close game in which the Pirates were victorious, "We had 'em allll the way." Bob was Pittsburgh's answer to Harry Caray. He was colorful, controversial, and a people person. Most importantly, to me, Bob was a giver of himself to others, and I think it is exciting to know that we go through our life not knowing how we helped someone in some way. An incident that may be totally insignificant to us in behalf of someone else, may have a profound effect on the life of the other person. We live in the memories of our friends, and The Gunner touched the lives in a positive way of those he came in contact. To those of you not familiar with the Prince of Pittsburgh, you missed out. He will always be a treasure to the city of Pittsburgh, and to those who follow the game of baseball. The book is over 400 pages long and full of colorful anecdotes such as the following when he and his wife Betty were going to go out one evening. Bob said, "Betty, your stockings are all wrinkled." Betty replied, "Bob, I'm not wearing any stockings." Another from relief pitcher ElRoy Face" "I remember one game at St. Louis. I threw a forkball down and away and Musial hit it over the right field roof. And I think I'd been 21 innings without giving up a run and we lost the ballgame on that, a good pitch. After the game I'm sitting at my locker and Murtaugh, who had this dry sense of humor, comes in and slaps me on the back and says, 'Relief pitcher, my ass!'" Finally, here is a great quote I would like to share with you from the book. "When you were born, you cried and the world rejoiced. Live your life in such a manner that when you die the world cries and you rejoice."--Old Indian Saying
A loving tribute to a great announcer.......1999-07-27
OK, so this isn't a comprehensive, chronological life of one of the greatest baseball broadcasters of all time. SO WHAT! The fact is, anything on Bob Prince brings me back to my childhood, when i would listen to "The Gunner" root the Bucs on to another win. And this book does the job just fine. I stopped rooting for the Pirates, in fact, when they fired Prince (I'm an Orioles fan now, and they did the same stupid thing with another great, Jon Miller). Iron City Beer was the first beer I ever drank -- thanks to Bob Prince. This guy could call a game and make the experiemce a memorable one. I'm just grateful that his art has not gone unremembered; and this book brings back the memories.
The book is nothing more than a series of interviews........1999-01-25
I have been a Pittsburgh Pirate fan for close to 40 years and I absolutely loved Bob Prince. I expected this book to be a history of Bob Prince's career with the Pirates. What I got was a series of rememberances and reflections by people about Bob Prince. And many of these rememberances are repeated over and over throughout the book. The book also never establishes any kind of chronological pace or order, making it a very disjointed read.
This is one of the first books I have ever stopped reading before I was finished. Maybe my expectations were too high, but I was very disappointed.
