Book Description
First One Dead Body...
A prostitute lies strangled in a seedy French Quarter hotel room. Miles away, in a rambling plantation house on the sultry shores of Lake Ponchartrain, popular late-night radio host Dr. Samantha Leeds receives a threatening crank call. All in a day's work for a celebrity. Who would think to link the two?
Then Another...
A second hooker's corpse turns up. Samantha's ominous caller persists, along with a mysterious female claiming to be a woman from her past -- a woman who's been dead for years. With Detective Rick Bentz convinced that the serial killer prowling the shadowy streets of New Orleans is somebody close to Samantha, she doesn't dare trust anyone. Especially not Ty Wheeler, her seductive new neighbor who seems to know more about her than a stranger should.
...And Another
Somebody has discovered Samantha's darkest secret. Somebody is convinced that lives must be sacrificed to pay for her sins. So far, the victims have been strangers. Prostitutes. But as a cunning, cold-blooded killer grows bolder, Samantha wonders in dread if she will be the next to die...

GOOD READ.......2007-06-01
I LOVE HER BOOKS. CAN'T PUT HER BOOKS DOWN. READ EVERY ONE OF HER BOOKS I CAN GET MY HANDS ON.
lame.......2007-03-27
I hope Hot Blooded is not indicative of all her writing.
It was painfully derivative, with cookie cutter good guys and bad guys.
The heroine has no discernible qualities that would make you want to root for her.
The ancillary characters are one-dimensional and not very appealing.
I have a couple more of her books I picked up in the discount bin. I hope they have a little more umph to them.
I finished it, but it was by no means a good read. At all.
Little slow at first but then really gets going.......2007-01-27
I give this 4 stars because the beginning is rather slow and drags on a little too much.. From about pg. 100 or so on, things really get going and this novel turns into a real hot romantic psychological thriller. Ms. Jackson develops the characters well and the story is anything but predictable.
Bad.......2007-01-17
I have always liked all of Lisa Jackson's books, but this one was too unreal.
Hookers are being killed in New Orleans. The killer uses a rosery to choke them.
The killer calls himself John, he kills women and then he calls into Dr. Samantha Leeds's radio show. And John also starts calling Sam at home and leaving mail and cakes for her.
The people think it maybe someone close to her or a stranger she has just met.
The problem I had with this book is:
1 Samantha Leeds is a weak character to be a psycologist.
2.The police tell her to keep her doors locked, don't go out alone, and don't talk to strange men she doesn't know.
3.What does she do, she meets a man that has moved on her block, and she gives him her phone no., goes out on a boat with him and sleeps with him.
Please, if I had a serial killer after me, I would not give out my no. or invite strange men to my house. Let alone go out with him on his boat over night and leave my doors unlocked.
And Sam was suppose to be the one with the college degree.
I am going to read Cold Blooded next since I ordered them together and see if it is worth reading.
I know from some of the other reviews that other people liked this book. I guess it was just disappointing for me.
Slick & fast-paced - will keep you glued!.......2006-03-09
Late night radio psychologist Samantha Leeds is drawn into a serial killers web when she starts receiving threatening letters and phone calls from a listener who goes by the name of John. John is actually a psychopath who holds Sam responsible for the death of a teenage girl who called into her show in Houston a decade earlier, and Sam was not able to reach her. In order to get Sam to repent, John strangles several hookers with a deadly rosary.
She gets involved with Ty, her sexy neighbor, and unbeknownst to her, he has sought out Sam with plans to use her for his own research to probe into the teen's death. When they start sleeping together, Ty realizes he has crossed the line, but fears that if he tells her the truth, she will hate him.
Working with NOPD Detectives Rick Bentz and Rueben Montoya to investigate the crime, Sam's ratings start to flourish with each phone call from John. As they race against the clock to learn John's real identity, Sam is not sure if she can trust those closest to her, including her estranged brother, her assistant, and the station owner, who wants to capitalize on John's presence for the ratings bonanza it has become.
This slick and fast-paced thriller tosses out so many possible baddies, that readers will be guessing until the very end.

#14 in the Carpathian Series.......2007-08-14
I enjoyed all 4 of these short stories. Sometimes you are just in the mood for a quick read...
1. Dark Hunger by Christine Feehan. This is Juliette and Riordan's story and #14 in the carpathian series.
2. Awaiting Moonrise by Maggie Shayne
3. The Night Owl by Emma Holly
4. Seductions Gift by Angela Knight
*This book introduced me to three new authors that I have enjoyed a few of their books. Reviews coming.
An Okay Read.......2007-07-14
My two favorite stories were from Anela Knight and Maggie Shayne. The otheres were okay not the best but readable.
Wonderful Reading.......2007-05-07
Once I started reading the book, I couldn't put it down. Carpathien fans, this book is a must if your following the series. Paranormal Fans, this is a must read book for you too. Great stories.
HOT Blooded, a review.......2007-04-19
The reason why I gave it 5 stars is because of the humorous interactions between the leads, especially the leads in Angela Knight's "Seduction's Gift".
In CF's "Dark Hunger" Riordan tries to seduce Juliette, or is it the other way round? Anyways they drive each other crazy!
Although Juliette has accepted our hero wholeheartedly, she has a cousin and little sister to consider. The danger that lurks in this story is a vampire who may have influenced a group of male jaguars to keep our couple quite busy with a malicious scheme.
In Maggie Shayne's "Awaiting Moonrise" Jenny's visit to Dr. Samuel has piqued his interest in her, or should I say her interest in him?
We have a curse at work starting from a few generations back, a most ambitious professor who will do anything to achieve his diabolical plan/target, a powerful and kind voodoo priestess, which makes a nice mystery mixed together.
In Emma Holly's "The Night Owl" Mariann O'Faolain runs a bakery in Maple Notch, Vermont, baking bread, cakes and cookies according to her grandfather's old recipes, all collected in an old book. Her landlord, Bastien, has bought the inn The Night Owl to start a new life together with his cousin.
Because Mariann is so successful her former partner tries to mustle her way in and reap the benefits by lying, threatening and stealing. At the same time Bastien is trying to court Mariann.
In Angela Knight's "Seduction's Gift" we have a sassy and independent Grace, granddaughter to THE Morgana, being (sexually) harassed by none other than Lancelot. Will he or will she prevail? That is the question, especially while Morgana is not one bit helpful, or so it seems....
Especially when a serial killer is on the loose and Grace shares a connection with said serial killer. Which makes this the perfect opportunity for Lancelot to win Grace over.
I read the Bite anthology first, so after reading Hot Blooded, with Angela Knight again, I really started to love the Mageverse. Her books are funny with hilarious courtships and an all-interesting cast.
Because chapter 1 of Dark Secret is featured at the back of Hot Blooded, my curiosity had me stumble upon her website and lo and behold, I ordered all books of the Dark series. Can't wait to read Dark Celebration ^__^
Loved It........2007-04-16
This is one of the few anthologies were I have liked all of the stories. I thought it was a great sample of each authors work. If your like me and read one or two of them, it introduced me to others that I have since tried and liked too. I think you'll enjoy it.
Customer Reviews:
recommend.......2003-09-30
I really enjoyed this book. The character of Isobel is a very strong willed character with an acid tongue. In a lot of romances novels I read the women characters are so weak and needy it makes me want to hurl.
one of her best.......2003-09-14
I agree with all the reviews. What I found most intresting is the fact that her last 3 to 4 books were sort of linked. It kind of brings continuity to the story lines and makes the characters very real.
Another great Reid!.......2003-09-09
From the back: Greek tycoon Leandros Petronades married Isobel on the heels of a wild affair. But, within a year, the marriage crashed and burned. Three years later Leandros wants to finalize their divorce. He's found a girl who will make him a suitable wife...so unlike fiery Isobel. But face to face again with Isobel in Athens, Leandros is in for a shock: their all-consuming mutual attraction is just as strong as ever. Suddenly, his plan has changed and he's ready to tame his headstrong wife...by whatever means it takes.
I loved this book! This follows the typical Reid plotline, with a strong, stubborn Greek husband who has some big misunderstanding with his beloved wife, leading to a long separation. I really enjoy this about Reid's novels, because oftentimes Harlequins can feel rushed in developing a romance. Reid's novels, however, usually start out with the history already established between the two leads, leaving the rest of the book to simply build on the sexual tension. Fantastic!
A Passionate Read!.......2003-08-13
I LOVED this book! Ms. Reid did a wonderful job of displaying the "passion" between Isobel and Leandros. You feel their anger, their pain and the love they have for each other! I couldn't put this book down!!!
The story deals with a couple who have been apart for three years, but never really stopped loving each other. Each has insecurities and doubts to deal with, which Ms. Reid reveals in very passionate writing. They see each other and all the passion and love returns. However, before things can be made right, they have to deal with past hurts and disappointments. I couldn't put this book down! (Oh yeah, I said that already.)
This books makes you laugh, too! There's a particular scene during their divorce meeting which is laugh out loud funny! Again, I couldn't put this book down! So, if you enjoy your romances with spice and laughter -- this is a definite keeper!
Michelle Reid at her best.......2003-03-02
Michelle Reid is a stand out in the Harlequin Presents line of authors, and "A Passionate Marriage" displays the extraordinary story-telling skills that earn her that distinction. Isobel, fiery and English, and Leandros, passionate and Greek, have been separated for three years. When they meet to finalize the end of their marriage, sparks fly and it becomes apparent to both of them that they are not ready to end their tumultuous union. While this sounds like the plot of any hundred or so romance novels you might have read in the past, Reid quickly displays the intensely-drawn characters, layered and woven plots, and emotionally driven stories that set her books apart from the rest.
Making a cameo appearance in this novel are Eve and Ethan from "Ethan's Temptress Bride" (Harlequin Presents, No. 2272), loosely tying this book to the last 4 or 5 that Reid has written, and briefly introduces Felipe Vazquez, a sure bet to play a leading role in a future offering. If it's a book by Michelle Reid, it's a winner, and this was one of her best.

Great book to reinforce science concepts!.......2007-08-08
Reading this book to my class will make the difference between birds' and mammals' hot-bloodedness and reptiles', amphibians', and fish's cold-bloodedness much easier for my third graders to understand. It also is on the school's Accelerated Reader list, so they can then reread the book on their own and can take a test on it.
I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to know more about animals and their characteristics.

Customer Reviews:
Full of Passion and Pride and very Powerfully Charged!.......2006-08-05
I had forgotten what a wonderful author Michelle Reid is, so when a friend suggested that I read this particular book, I immediately purchased it and read it in one sitting.
It's very powerfully written and highly charged. At times I was so angry with Rafiq....even though he was so sexy he was extremely proud and really didn't see the whole picture.
Melanie is a passionate woman at least when it comes to Rafiq but she has a secret and to share it with this stubborn and prideful man might just destroy her. The first chapters in this book will make you understand just how explosive this story is going to become......you won't be able to put this one down.
It's a wonderful love story and full of passion and sparks. Delightful!
Praise.......2006-04-01
Wonderful, touching story of a love everyone would like to have.
Forget the weak areas (arab + brit). The pathos of the situation, and the reaction of relatives brings home so many truths.
Eve loves an Arab prince. She is a titled British lady and he is heir to the leadership of his people.
This one is a real keeper.
AWESOME ........2003-09-14
This is a classic from Michelle Reid. A part of a mini - series which started with the sheikh's chosen wife and Ethan's temptress bride.Very emotional and feels real. You will definetely Love it.
One of her best & well-worth the money.......2003-04-15
The Arabian Love-Child was much better than the other 2 book. I didn't even want the book to end because Melanie and Rafiq's struggles and passion was so strong. Melanie was a strong female, which balances the strong male...instead of most of the wimpy heroines in some romance books. It was neat, you could actually feel the character's emotions. I'll probably end up reading it again, soon....
A Passionate filled book........2003-03-04
"the Arabian Love-Child" is the third book in a series by Michelle Reid. This is a great story. As I said said in my review of "The Sheikh Chosen Wife #2254" also by Ms. Reid it had been sometime since I read Harlequin Presents and they have really improved from what I remember. I really enjoyed this book. The reader is able to feel Melanie's pain and want to see her and Rafiq to work out their problems. A great book!

Not as good as the first book- OVERALL SCORE: (B+).......2003-12-25
This is a good mystery story, full of action, sex, and graphic violence, what more can you want. Unfortunately this time the story takes place in San Diego and Tijuana, and so it lack the seductive setting and ambiance of Hawaii. Also the plot is more contrives and not as tightly written, but its still good, just not as good as his other stories.
OVERALL SCORE: (B+)
READABILITY: (A-), PLOT: (B-), CHARATERS: (A-), DIALOGUE: (B-), SETTING: (B+), ACTION/COMBAT: (A-), ANTAGONISTS: (B), ROMANCE: (B-), SEX: (Very Adult Content), AGE LEVEL: (NC17)
TRAVIS LIVES!! (ALMOST).......2001-10-18
(...)When John D. MacDonald, author of a dozen or more novels featuriing Travis McGee, died several years ago, he left legions of Travis fans mourning his loss. In Sand Dollars, Charles Knief brings us a Travis-like character in John Caine, private eye. Actually, this is his second appearance in what promises to be a series.
Caine, like Travis, is intelligent, ideallistic (in his own unique way), observes a strict code of ethics, chooses his own private eye jobs, and resists becoming sexually involved with clients. And like Travis, Caine lives on his own boat, comparable to Travis' Busted Flush.
That said, Sand Dollars is more or less your standard pot boiler. Caine kills a half-dozen or so bad guys, escapes from seemingly inescapable life-threatening situations, and in the end is triumphant over evil. Despite all this, or maybe because of all this, we look forward to more adventures of John Caine. Sand Dollars is entertaining reading and Caine an acceptable protagonist. He just isn't Travis McGee. But then, who is?
It was OK. Got my attention and then totally lost it..........2001-08-12
This book was OK. It did have interesting points, but I didn't feel that all the characters were credible (who could get away with killing a whole bunch of people in Mexico anyway?).
All in all, it was reading entertainment, just not too fullfilling.
Good solid entertainment.......2000-08-27
Charles Kneif has managed to put together an character that is easy to like in PI John Caine, a retired naval officer and sailing enthusiast with weak spots for beautiful yachts and women. I have read the first two novels Diamond head and Sand Dollars, and I'm right now reading the third in the series. Though Caine is a nice guy, it is hard to get a deeper grip of him and his background, and I believe it would be beneficial if the author could be a little more detailed about his experiences and earlier life that could cast a new light on the present and add more depth to the story line.
I'm Convinced...Give me more of John Caine!.......2000-07-07
I just discovered Charles Knief's John Caine in "Diamond Head" and got to know him much better in "Sand Dollars" and I'm still a charged-up fan! Will start "Emerald Flash," the third in the saga of the ex-SEAL-turned-private-eye. My heart just breaks for Caine as he tries to get on with his life after losing his beloved boat and his girlfriend in the first book. In this second novel, he gets on with his life by getting involved in a stateside caper far from his home in Hawaii--but it's OK 'cause he needed to go to San Diego to buy a new boat anyway. What awaits him in California and the Baja is just one adventure and close-call after another. Man, I love this guy--he is so resilient and tough. I'm about to start the third novel featuring this flawed, but lovable hero. I almost hate to do it because I know that it's the last book about John Caine so far. Hurry up, Mr. Knief, and give me more!
Customer Reviews:
Just Perfect!!!.......2005-11-13
As many other readers, it was a wonderful surprise to meet again with Eve and Rashid from "The Mistress Bride". This book had an excellent plot, original story and involves a deep and passionate relationship between Hassan and Leona. The dialogues are great and the story is very organized in its various layers.
I highly recommended it as well as its following sequels: Ethan's temtress wife, The Arabbian Love Child, and A Passionate Marriage.
Magnificent!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.......2004-04-28
couldn't believe my eyes while I was reading this book. It had the main 2 characters Raschid & Evie from "The mistress bride" in it. This story takes place about 6 years after.
This story is so heartbreaking. Leona has been seperated from her husban Sheikh Hassan for a year. They have been married for 5 years, but in that time Leone has been unable to conceive. Hassan kidnaps his wife, to keep her safe, because Hassan discovers a plot to force his hand. Some Sheikh's have decided that Hassan should take a second wife so he can produce the son & heir his country needs. Needless to say they already have wife number 2 waiting in the wings.
Hassan does not see it that way, even his wife thinks he should divorce her, so what hope does he have. Only Allah.....
Harlequin Presents are better than I remember.......2003-03-02
I have to confess its has been a long time since I read any Harlequin Presents, but I happen to see "The Sheikh's Chosen Wife" by Michelle Reid and decided to buy it. I am so happy that I did. This was a great story with strong characters facing modern problems. The writing was great and the passion between the main characters was very believible. Can't wait to read more from Michelle Reid.
What does he see in her that I missed?.......2003-01-13
Back Cover description: She can save her marriage-by getting pregnant! A year has passed since Leona left her husband, Sheikh Hassan ben Khalifa Al-Qadim. She misses him very much, but what was the point of staying when she'd failed to deliver the one thing Hassan needed-a child and heir? When Hassan tricks her into returning to him, Leona is furious and puzzled. Why does he want her by his side again and back in his bed?
I read these out of order, so I knew what happened, but I still couldn't stand Leona's constant harping on not being pregnant. She keeps saying she loves the guy, but she wasn't helpful at all. Not a story I would read again or keep. Read ARABIAN LOVE-CHILD. It's better.
Not one of her best!.......2002-06-19
Michelle Reid is a fantastic romance writer, but this is far from her best. I could not even finish this book! The plot was incredibly boring and predictable. Hopefully, her next piece will be on the level of one of her previous: The Price of a Bride.
Customer Reviews:
I didn't find it so bad..........2005-11-13
First of all, i do not categorize Eve as a temptress woman; she is just having fun with the guys she has known since she was a little girl. In addition, the scene that brought to Ethan into further trouble with Eve was greatly developed. Those two had a lot of chemistry; it is nice to see how little by little Ethan discovers his true feelings towards Eve. I liked that he didn't wake up one day saying "I love Eve not Leona".
In general, i loved the story. Eve's character is strong, but Ethan's is absolutely wonderful.
Brilliant in its badness........2005-01-25
This is one of those books which I read merely because it promises to be so bad, it ultimately winds up achieving humor. It did not fail -- though it failed to achieve it as thoroughly as I'd hoped. The purple prose were more lavender than purple; romance-lite, is the term I'm thinking of. The clumsily engineered scenes she contrived, while frenetic, didn't have that hackneyed spice that I usually find so endearing. Why, she only introduced one -- one! -- complication throughout the entire story! (I do not count Eve, as she isn't complex enough to complicate things.)
I got it for free, so I can't demand my money back on the virtues of the argument "It was drivel, but not so devoid of all signs of intelligence as to make my insides cringe with hilarity." Which I might, if I had paid for it.
The best thing about it: typos were minimal.
What an unlikeable heroine!.......2003-11-05
Eve was manipulative, self-centered, spoiled, immature, and had absolutely no compassion for any other human being. And those were her GOOD qualities! She crawled all over every man she met and then wondered why Ethan had such a low opinion of her. Gee, can't imagine! In all fairness though, as much I liked Ethan, he had to be kind of out there to want this woman!
It's a good thing I didn't read this book right after I'd eaten or I doubt the food would have stayed down!
I can however highly recommend "The Sheik's Chosen Wife" and "The Arabian Love Child". They were the reason I got this book and they were both very good!
temptress?...or hussy?.......2003-07-29
The title conforms to the story. Eve was definately a spoiled rotten temptress rich girl, who used seduction and other tempting wiles to get what she wanted. The only thing i favored about this book was Ethan. Poor guy, I felt such sympathy for him. How could a man as smart and charming as he, fall for a winy, sophmoric, hussy like Eve. If you ask me, Ethan should have stuck a pacifier in her mouth each time she decided to put on one of her famous (not to mention WINY) tantrums. My ears were practically SCREAMING.
I hope there are better books by Michelle Reid that can molifiy the ache in my ears, because this one was awfully LOUD (and disappointing).
Do yourselves a favor people: do not read this book. If you do however, get ready for some MAJOR ear bleeding.
Ps. the 2stars are for Ethan.
Absolutely Horrible.......2003-07-06
Having read both "The Sheik's Chosen Wife" and "The Arabian Love-Child" I couldn't wait to get my hands on this book. I was disappointed in the extremes! I wish Amazon allowed me to rate this book lower than 1 star. Usually I only need about two hours to polish off a good Harlequin, less if I get really involved in the story. This book, however, truly taxed my patience.
The heroine, Eve, was as spoiled and bratty as Ethan originally thought her to be. Having forced myself to read this twice, I still don't understand what her allure is supposed to be. The supposed conflict and compromising scene that forced their "pretend" engagement was more melodramatic than necessary and, although there was one part that horrified me, the entire plot rested on something so silly that I ended up wanting to reveal the entire thing to Eve's grandfather and rescue Ethan from such a stupid situation. I really felt sorry for Ethan and wondered why he would even choose to put up with her machinations. Ethan was a great guy. If I met Ethan in real life, I wouldn't hesitate to try to get to know him better. He comes off even better in "The Arabian Love Child."
All in all, the plot and conflict are nonexistent, the writing tedious, the resolution boring, and the characters uninspiring with the exception of Ethan.
Ladies, please take my advise: Skip this book and read the other two. You don't miss a thing.
