Another good vampire romance series.......2005-09-04
I loved Kiss Me Forever. Yes, there are a couple of discrepancies, but the book as a whole is so wonderful, that they don't matter much. Christopher (or Kit) and Dixie are terrific characters, their romance is believable, Laurey's vampire world is intriguing, and the suspense is just right. Expertly done. 5 stars.
Love Me Forever is not quite as good, leading to the lower overall rating. While Laurey spent a great deal of effort making the setting realistic (I currently reside in the area), the characters and especially the suspense were not quite as well-developed. More to the point, there are many editing errors -- some small like typos and some huge, like saying one thing but doing another or saying something had happened that that not. These things really mar an otherwise fine story and keep it from being as good as the first. Pity, Justin deserved better. Still, it's a good read, and Kiss Me Forever is excellent.
As I came to the end, shut the book and sighed, I felt like I'd lost a couple of friends..........2005-08-09
Dixie and Kit make the perfect couple, in this memorable romance.
KISS ME FOREVER (PART ONE)
Out of curiosity Dixie LePage travels from her home in South Carolina to Bringham, a small English village, to visit a house she inherited from her grandmother. Being on another continent, in an idyllic village, with a new fortune seemed the ideal opportunity to make space between her ex-fiancé, get over her grandmother's death and fix her twice-broken heart.
She hadn't counted on falling for a gorgeous; broad shouldered Christopher Marlowe who claimed to be the same man as the famous playwright and contemporary of William Shakespeare. Both of whom have been dead for hundreds of years. Christopher, (Kit to his friends) is a sensual, caring vampire who becomes equally besotted with Dixie; a sceptic, who must recognise the truth, before it's too late. Will Kit ever come to terms with loving a mere mortal? After all, she'll grow old and die, whilst Kit's pain would go on for eternity. If only they could be together, forever.
Despite this, more trouble is brewing in Bringham. It has something to do with the previous occupants, two eccentric great aunts from the Underwood side of her family whom she'd never met. They'd built up an extensive library of books on witchcraft and the occult, belonging to their father, a retired colonel from the Indian Army. Deciding to investigate further, Dixie moves into her newly acquired lodgings and extends her holiday. Oblivious to the fact that her family solicitor, Sebastian Caughleigh and his nephew James know more than they are letting on. By Abel!
Mr. Caughleigh has his own reasons for wanting to disrupt Dixie's plans and send her back on the next plane home. As a coven leader, Sebastian abuses his position and uses witchcraft against Ms. LePage and Kit, with the help of his witches, Sally, Ida and nervous Emily. Sebastian is determined to do anything in his power to defend the Underwood's secrets from being exposed, killing anyone who stands in his way. Including Dixie if needs be.
Luckily Kit becomes Dixie's protector, and with the support of his good friends, Dr. Justin Foruvs, Tom Kyd and the rest of their colony, they join forces to attempt to stop the evil Mr. Caughleigh, and his strengthening coven from ruining Dixie's life. Will they stop the murderous solicitor in time?
Kiss Me Forever is an exciting, contemporary vampire tale with a new slant of the ancient vampire legend. Believe me when I say `this is one of the most enjoyable paranormal / vampire romance books I have ever read!' Ms. Laurey's characters pulled me so deep into their story, my outside world ceased to exist for a couple of days. I loved the way Dixie was a lost American, having to cope with our alien British ways and the dialect of those who live up north! Kiss Me Forever is filled with everything I love in a paranormal romance; a detailed plot with lip-licking sex scenes, descriptive settings I could lose myself in and a gutsy female lead I wished I could be. As I came to the end, shut the book and sighed, I felt like I'd lost a couple of friends, Dixie and Kit. Wondering how their alternative relationship would last under pressure, and what I'd do without the suave presence of smooth talking Doctor Justin Forvus (whose charming character I adored). Well, as you know, this book comes in two parts. Kiss Me Forever is followed by Love Me Forever. So I snacked on something quick, and sat down to read the next book in this series. Imagine my whooping noises (of excitement) as I discovered the return of Doctor Forvus, and a couple of old friends!

Two Wonderful Romances In One Book!!!.......2005-06-11
This is the first time I've ever read Ms Laurey and needless to say it won't be the last! This read combined two full length stories that tie to each other and introduce us to some really yummy hero's that the reader is sure not to forget once the final page is read!
Ms. Laurey has taken the vampire legend and made it her own. Add to this fun characters, some nasty villans, and truly great romantic tension and the reader is set for an all encompassing read. Ms. Laurey truly has a wonderfully unique voice and her vampire romances are some of the best I've read in awhile. Justin, Christopher, Dixie, and Stella are characters the reader will enjoy. Secondary characters only add to the wonderful cast of characters. This book is truly worth picking up and I suggest adding it to your summer reading list.

great modern day gothic heroes.......2005-06-06
great book if you are into vampires.... I am a lover of Anne Rice novels so this one really took my fancy. the book I have has two novels in one. Hope she writes more about these characters, cause I really enjoyed them all!!
Too much too soon?.......2005-04-30
I really like Rosemary Laurey's easy-going writing style. And the way she shapes about her characters. However, there are a couple of details in this book that don't make sense to me. The first is that there doesn't seem to be any reason for the girl to fall for the vamp as quickly and as completely as she does in Kiss Me Forever. I felt as though I had missed something vital. All of a sudden she loves him, and all he did was help her look for intruders in her house! Quick as that! Also - she saves Marlowe and takes him to his pal vamps's house, where she is told the only way to save him might be for him to drink human blood . . . so of course she offers up herself. But then - oops - there seems to be plenty of blood kept in supply in the same house for "emergencies," such as her own blood transfusion right after giving up her own to Marlowe. Why did she have to give up her own blood if there was a supply kept in the house? Why didn't Marlowe's pal suggest the use of it? Did we miss something here as well?
I will read the next book Laurey writes, since I like her style. But I'm hoping there is at least a reasonably believable reason for the two main characters to fall in love in the next one . . . as well as plenty of bottled blood in the basement, so the poor heroine doesn't always have to come to the hunky vamp's rescue by baring her own neck.

Kind of makes you feel like you were in KISS.......2007-10-01
I read a book by Gene Simmons called KISS AND TELL. I also read a book about KISS called BEHIND THE MASK. After reading KISS FOREVER I noticed something strange happening to my way of thinking in regards to KISS. Before reading these three books I used to think of KISS the way I always had. What songs I liked, which album covers were the best, which costumes were best, ect. After reading this book (and the other two) I know so much about the day to day lives of KISS during the 70s and 80s that now I feel more like I was a member of KISS remembering my days with the band than a fan. As I read this I found it easy to imagine what it would have been like to have been a member of KISS. The book states when someone was sick, when their pants split on stage, when they did store appearances, ect. If you're a KISS fan you should have this book. I was worried I was wasting my money on a book that I wouldn't find interesting but I was wrong. Its a great book.
A ton of info.......2006-11-29
this is a great read. i like to just pick it up and browse. Interesting to see the actual attendence figures because they prove how much money KISS LOST in order to put on a good show. There are many dates that werent even close to selling out (mostly in the 80s), but it also shows that even in their hey day they usually only sold out places with apprx. 8 - 10,000 seats. Being compared to todays standards, that is pretty weak considering the sizeable show they toured with.
The set lists are interesting as well. Though many are the same, now and then you see a song and wish you were there to hear them play it! This book also has a few interesting notes in between tours.
This is one of the best books out there for kiss fans. Gives you a new appreciation for the band as you see how they played to a lot of half empty halls but still stuck with it. the book is also honest in its figures, no sugar coating. a really cool read that must have taken months, if not years, of research. Essential for any Kiss fan as well as rock n roll fans in general.
Great Read.......2006-02-18
Kiss Alive Forever is a must read for any KISS fan. The book is filled with details from all their tours including dates, set lists, and many, many details from each show.
So Much Information.......2006-01-11
This book has all the facts and figures about Kiss concerts that I've never read anywhere else.
It tells you the dates of each show, how much capacity the arena holds, what the attendance figures were, what songs were sung at most shows, in the order in which they were performed. It also has interviews with some touring personnel and their memories of the tour and/or show.
I really appreciated the end of the book that has all the songs Kiss has ever performed, the first and last time they performed the song (Hard Luck Woman was ever only performed during an 11 day period in 1976 and NOT during the three Forum shows that were recorded for Alive II. Some songs were only ever performed once, others only in other countries).
It breaks each tour down by album, tells you the biggest shows by attendance, all of their opening acts, who Kiss opened up for. It is packed with tons of information you never hear Gene and Paul talk about.
A must for any Kiss fan or anyone who enjoys the behind the scenes happenings of a major rock act.
Great Book!! A must for the true KISS fan........2005-11-28
I've had this book for a couple years now and I can't put it down. I read it over and over and find interesting new facts every time. A day to day history of all their tours from day 1.
I Love This Book!!

Book-A Kiss in Winter.......2007-03-17
Book arrived in a timely manner and in perfect condition; thanks!
This book is a joy........2007-02-04
Susan Crandall brings her heartfelt emotions and depth of character to her newest novel A Kiss In Winter.
Caroline Rogers has had to put her life on hold after the tragic death of her adoptive parents. She has raised her siblings Sam and Macie and she is just a few months away from them being on their own. Caroline is shaken when the old family farm is sold to hometown returnee Dr. Mick Larsen. Caroline is deeply attracted to Mick but feels she doesn't want to be tied down now that her life is just beginning to blossom.
Dr. Mick Larsen returned home to Redbud Mill in his eyes a failure. When one of his psychiatric patients commits an unforgivable act, Mick doubts his abilities to practice. He comes home to be a farmer and hopefully to raise a family. Mick would like that woman to be Caroline.
Caroline has received local acclaim as a photographer. She hopes to expand her focus to the world. But someone is out to stop her. When local landmarks are being vandalized that she had photographed she turns to Mick for help,
A Kiss In Winter is Susan Crandall at her best. Caroline and Mick have such deep layers of feelings and issues from their pasts. They don't fall in love easily and it makes this story all that much richer. The element of suspense is just the right touch to keep this story in your heart and mind long after you finish.
Wonderfully written.......2007-01-19
Wonderfully written. I appreciate a book that leaves me wanting more of the story even when it is brought to an end as only Susan Crandall can do. When is the next book coming out?
moving romantic family drama .......2006-12-31
Caroline Rogers gave up her dreams to raise her brother and sister after her adopted parents died within days of each other. She sold the family farm and got a job photographing special occasions and freelance work like a state calendar. When she sees someone move into the Rogers' farm Caroline wants to know who it is and if he will keep the spread in good condition because some of her happiest memories happened there.
Dr. Mick Larsen, a psychiatrist turned farmer, informs Caroline that he is going to work the land. He is running from his past because he realized he never wanted to be a doctor and only did so to please his father. A tragedy convinced him he was not a good doctor. Mick and Caroline feel an immediate chemistry between them but she wants to travel for national Geographic when her sister goes to college and he wants a partner who will love him and give him children, something Caroline is afraid to do. They are drawn closer together when they realize Caroline has a stalker who is escalating in violence and his targets are tied to the pictures on the calendar she photographed. Yet a relationship for these two star-crossed lovers seems impossible.
This is a fetching and moving romantic family drama that is well written and focuses on characters that are very realistic and likeable. The heroine is afraid to love after she has seen what it did to her biological mother and the hero needs love of which he never got from his father. Susan Crandall is so talented that readers will want to read her backlist because A KISS IN WINTER is everything a contemporary romance reader wants in a book.

I want to marry Finn.......2007-08-19
Completely loved this book. Laugh out loud funny with a rogue, charming hero. who cares that the mystery part seemed a little like an afterthought. Ms. Rich more than made up for it with her great characters and snappy dialogue. I've ordered her backlist because of this book
I loved it!.......2006-09-25
Every now and then as I read THE COMEBACK KISS I'd think, "How did she come up with that?" Ms. Rich's dialogue is terrific, her characters and the situation are delightful. The relationship between Tessa and Finn is wonderfully funny and emotional.
No, the mystery wasn't good--we have no clue of the existence of the arsonist/killer until very late in the book. (A hint to the writer: you probably don't want to mention this in your ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS because it makes the lack much more obvious to your reader.) The social worker and Tessa's fear of losing her sister don't ring true either and I wonder about the link to the criminal--but I loved the story and the characters so much that I accepted the weaknesses because, overall, this was so darned much fun.
Just a so-so book.......2006-08-19
When Tessa Scuderi's 1974 VW Thing is parked in front of her house, she knows she's in for trouble. Dermot "Finn" Finnegan, Tessa's best friend and sweetheart, stole the car ten years ago *after* she'd given him her virginity. Later that same night, Tessa's mother died and Tessa's younger sister, Izzy, was put in foster care. (Tessa was 18 and Izzy was 6.)
Tessa waited tables at a diner, stayed out of trouble and fought hard to get her sister back. Tessa thinks she's protecting her legal guardianship by anonymously giving money to people in need and saying Finn did it.
Even though she hasn't heard from him since he left, she still loves him. And Finn hasn't been able to get Tessa out of his mind for the past ten years. He thinks returning the car will cure him. Then circumstances force him to stay in town longer than he intended and their lives get a little more complicated.
The arson storyline was eh. I didn't buy the social worker part - a 16 year old would have input in her own care. And Finn's life of crime wasn't cool; he was a slacker. At times the story worked. At other times I thought the author was trying too hard. The banter seemed forced, didn't flow. I did like the winter Vermont setting.
More zany antics in the follow up to"Maybe Baby".......2006-07-25
Ten years ago, Tessa lost her mother in a fiery car crash, and her best friend Finn broke her heart by stealing her virginity and her prized VW "Thing." Losing her mother meant she had to clean up her act and become a model citizen so that she could have custody of her young sister Izzy. That meant righting all the wrongs that she and Finn committed (like stealing the bell from the tower), and committing random acts of kindness for townspeople, attributing them to long gone Finn. As she and Izzy are arguing over whether or not she can get a car, both are shocked that the "Thing" is suddenly in her driveway - orange daisies and all.
All Finn wanted to do was return the car to Tessa - then he was heading out of town. Until a fire breaks out at the local pet shop and Finn helps out by getting all the animals out and safe while the fire crew arrives, including his estranged older brother Joe. And then Tessa arrives and the fireworks are still there. Tessa just wants him gone; she cannot afford for the townspeople to find out he is not the philanthropist she had made him out to be. His boss Babs (the hysterical kidnap victim in Maybe Baby), has other ideas - a romantic at heart, she wants him to stay put so that he can resolve his feelings for Tessa.
Joe determines that the fire is a little too similar to the one that ruined Tessa's mother's business and sent her fleeing into the night (and to her death). Could it be possible that they were both arson? As the investigation gets closer to the truth, Tessa and Izzy find themselves in danger. Will Finn stick around long enough this time to help?
Rich's latest is a delightfully funny romp that will put a smile on your face. The slapstick humor, rich dialogue and well drawn characters make this a first rate story. Though this is definitely a stand alone novel, it helps to read "Maybe Baby" first - if nothing more - it will give you insight into Bab's quirkiness. Rich is definitely an author to look out for!
Lani's BEST one YET!!!.......2006-07-09
I am an avid Lani fan, and LOVE this latest installment. She keeps the reader riveted with an active storyline, deep characters, and humor that makes one laugh out loud--a lot! I thoroughly enjoy her books, and this is the latest and greatest. Can't wait for the next one--speaking of writing slowly---come on, Lani, keep the good stuff coming! I highly recommend Lani's books to anyone needing a break from life's harried pace. Enjoy!

Not a romance, or a vampire book........2006-09-11
I was hoping to see what Thea Devine could do with a paranormal plot, but was very disappointed. She is a GREAT writer, with her other books always pushing the envelope and having elaborate plots with trademark character buildup.
What happened here? The heroine gets no development time, leaving us to think for the whole book that she is just a TSL (too stupid to live) gold digger. The whole plot, what there is of it, involves the two MALE characters playing foil off of one another. The heroine is merely background, except that the furniture was described better than she.
A vampire romance where neither the hero nor the heroine is the vampire doesn't work. Even if the hero is pretending to be the vampire, or whatever he is doing.
The ending is given 4 pages from the being in the middle of the plot, into a resolution that doesn't make sense. Still no idea why the pair got together -- all they did in this book is have rough sex, and almost no conversation.
Skip this one.
Very Disappointed.......2004-10-09
First let me say that Thea Devine is one of my favorite authors and I have gotten some delicious ideas/inspirations from her hot..hot..characters and storylines...but this book was just confusing, slow, and disappointing. I never finished the book and it currently sits on my bookshelf gathering dust.
Ms. Devine, I will not give up on you or future books to come and everyone gets a free pass once in a while but please do your fans a favor by embracing what works for you:hot Russian Counts, strong-willed independent women, cold foreign lands or hot desert backdrops, wicked/cheating antagonists who just don't understand our heroines and finally that yummy alpha male who knows how to keep your readers satisfied all night long(smile)!
Good story, bad editing.......2003-11-15
The story line is pretty good, if confusing at times, but the poor editing job done on this book really irks me. I know Thea Devine's writing style is very unique and probably hard to edit, but come on! If I was her I would be absolutely livid at how many mistakes the editors did not pick up on. It takes away from the story and is quite a distraction. Otherwise, this review isn't very helpful for deciding whether or not you'll like the book, it's just a warning to be on guard for numerous typos and a heads up to the editors at Kensington - spend a little more time on the copyediting in the future!
[$$$] book with 2 cent story - Thea Devine's worst!.......2003-07-25
I have previously ready Ms. Devine's books and found them okay. At least they had a coherent story line to go along with the hot sex scenes that are her trademark. This book was a huge disappointment. The story was stupid, the ending was so abrupt and seemingly disconnected from the story all I could think was 'HUH??' Even the 'hero' in this book didn't have clue what was going on and what he was supposed to be looking for while impersonating someone else. The 'heroine' was always in heat for no apparent reason - just the thought of the 'hero' sent her into a frenzy without any explanation why she was so 'in love' with him. ... Look and see how many used copies are for sale of this book. If it was any good, people would be adding it to their keeper shelves and not trying to unload it. I had preordered this book based on my previous experiences with Ms. Devine's books. Next time, I'll wait until after it's published and read reviews and see how many used copies are trying to be unloaded before I drop [$$$] on one of her books again.
Suspenseful? Yes! Hot? Yes! Cheesy Words? Yes!!!.......2003-06-27
If I had one day to spare which I had absolutely NOTHING to do, I'd probably take my copy of The Forever Kiss and count how many times the word 'penis' is used. Or....how many times Dar (Ducas) refers to his mistress' sex as a 'honeypot' or his incessant nipple fetish. I don't even think hardcore porn has the female character saying to the male character "I want your penis....I'll never refuse your penis....I need your penis.....I'm here for your penis......I live for your penis...", well you get it.
However, if you can get past that cheesiness, the story is quite good. Unless you read very carefully, you may get confused at times, since the hero (Dar) is impersonating a supposed dead traitor (Ducas) for whom he looks exactly alike, in order to uncover evidence of Ducas' treachery and treason at his manor.
But.....Ducas really isn't dead - well, he is on the inside, not on the outside. Turns out...he's a vampire and he returns from his 'dead' state to go back to his manor to kill the man (Dar) who's there impersonating him and trying to move in on his woman (Angene - the penis lover).
With Ducas and Dar now in the same house, (although cleverly avoiding each other) Ms. Devine see-saws back and forth between Dar and Ducas' point of view and, because Ducas is a vampire, we have scenes were Dar is pummeling the life out of Angene's 'honeypot' only to be invaded with Ducas' thoughts.
If you can follow along, you'll find this plot very taut and nailbiting and I would have given it higher marks if not for the cheese factor. Ms. Devine should make her heros tone down their nipple obsessions and find other words synonymous with the male appendage just so the reader doesn't develop 'penis' envy!
