Book Description
Etienne Argeneau's three hundred years of bachelorhood are at an end. He can only "turn" one human in his lifetime, and most of his kind reserved that power for creating a life mate. He has to save Rachel Garrett. He doesn't know her very well, but the beautiful coroner had saved his life. To save hers he would make her immortal. Rachel Garrett awakes surprised. All she'd wanted was to get off the night shift at the morgue; now here she is staggering to her feet naked and in a strange place. Then she sees the man of her dreams emerging from his...coffin? She just hopes he tastes as good as he looks.

Well thought out series.......2007-08-05
Fast and in some places exciting story. Our Vampires are a little too human (ie eating food) but the story rocks along to its conclusion. I was annnoyed that this was one of a set but that is just me. The Author has thought this book through and it flows wonderfully. The males are not too chest thumpingly ALPHA and the women are not too simpering. 9/10
Love Bites Has No Bite.......2007-04-05
First of all, the cartoon cover of this book sets the scene: no depth here. So anyone who goes in expecting much in the way of plot or character development will be disappointed.
Sands has an entire series set around the Argeneau family following the romance cliché with each member of the family getting their own book, in which the hero or heroine meets their lifemate. The vampire mythos is that all the vampires are actually descendents of Atlantis who developed nanotechnology. Nanos live it their blood and keep them in perfect health. Each vampire is destined to have a lifemate, i.e. a soulmate.
I won't bother hashing out plot problems as the focus of the story itself is not on plot, but on furthering the supposed sexual attraction between Etienne and his lifemate Rachael. Etienne turns Rachael into a vampire to save her life after she is axed in the chest by a totally ridiculous villain named Pudge--yes, Pudge--who has discovered Etienne is a vamp and wants to kill him.
Although I didn't hate it, my main issue with this book is with the scene in which Rachael awakens from being turned into a vamp thinks she is having a wet dream while Etienne tries to convince her she's awake, and he's a vamp. She is upset by him putting off her sexual advances and whines with disappointment that it must be because he is not well-endowed. Etienne responds with "all the men in my family are well-endowed." This line was so absolutely ridiculous and unbelievable that I laughed out loud. Rachael then responds with "Oh goodie!" I cannot believe the author, much less an agent or editor, did not suggest a revision to this absurd dialogue. What man would ever say this?! Worse still--how would he even know this information about the other men in his family?!!
Another amusing scene occurred when Rachael and Etienne are slightly intoxicated by the ecstasy-blood drinks they are slipped at a vamp club by Etienne's cousin. Rachael ends up on her knees, but Etienne gets a nice surprise when her blood lust overcomes plain old lust.
All in all, it's not the worst book out there, but many of the scenes trying to build tension between Etienne and Rachael were boring. Rachael whines a lot about the same old gripes--specifically about his turning her into a vamp, when she ought to be thanking him since she can't stop pissing and moaning about how BORING her life is. I mean, according to her, she was basically a hermit with a night-job of dealing with corpses in the morgue--why would she want to go back to that? Meanwhile, Etienne comes off as a geeky adolescent, despite the fact that he is supposed to be 300 years old.
In conclusion: this book has silly, absurd dialogue, no plot, and no heat between the main characters.
A fun and lighthearted vampire romance.......2007-01-26
Love Bites is the second in the series by Lynsay Sands following the Argeneau family of vampires. Etienne is a writer of computer games who lives alone and hasn't had a relationship for three decades. However his life isn't all dull - Pudge, a fellow writer of computer games, has found out that Etienne is a vampire and is trying to kill him. Etienne takes this in a spirit of amusement as Pudge doesn't really know what he's doing - Etienne's family think Pudge should be killed but Etienne has some sympathy for him.
Rachel Garrett works in the morgue at a hospital and has no social life at all - the night shift for three years has seen to that. She realises that her life is getting pretty bad when she finds the corpse of a handsome young man rather attractive - although is he actually dead? And did she dream him anyway? Then a severely burned corpse is delivered to the morgue a couple of weeks later and Rachel finds there is a heartbeat; she's about to call for help when a man comes in and tries to kill the burned almost-corpse. Rachel tries to save her patient and ends up receiving a mortal wound. At which point the burned corpse gets up and saves her life by turning her into a vampire. Now Rachel has to learn to live as a vampire and to live with the knowledge that Etienne has used his one chance to turn a life partner on her - saving her life as she saved his. With the help of his family she tries to make her way in this new world, knowing that Pudge is out there as a threat and feeling guilt that Etienne had to turn her.
This book is a fun and lighthearted read, despite the occasionally serious subject. There are lots of references to characters that are in the first book and the end of the book sets up for another. There wasn't a great deal of action in this book and the personalities weren't particularly in depth - I suppose if you liked Kerrelyn Sparks' "How to marry a millionaire vampire" you'd enjoy this book as it was very similar. It's good to read but nothing special and doesn't add anything new to the genre.
could have been better.......2006-07-03
This book did have a very interesting premise, but it could have been written in a whole much better direction than just to have the two main characters repeatedly having sex throughout most of the book. I did like the fact that 'respectable' vampires drink from bags of donated blood instead of attack people on the street (could have made a good subplot dealing with the blood bags); and the straws getting stuck on the woman's fangs so that she didnt have to taste the blood was kind of inventive too (but then she could have moved on with her life and tried to eke out what she could of the life she had before becoming a vampire). Too bad the blood issues were the only interesting things in the book.
this is a book that will please a particular demographic and leave the rest of us pretty cold.......2006-05-12
OK, this is a book about a vampire, Etienne, whose only passion in life lately has been writing video games. He sits alone in his basement all night making the games & the crazy psycho killer of the novel is another game-writer who wanted a job with Etienne and didn't get one.
Then the heroine, Rachel, is a coroner with no social life. But seriously, no social life. She tells us over and over again - gee, I never go out, gee, what's there to do at night, gee, I caught my last lover having sex with my roommate and that was years ago in college. Her first major bonding experience with Etienne post-crossover is...spending a whole night with him playing video games. 10 hours straight. It made me feel sad.
Look, if you can get past this, maybe you will like the book. But I couldn't find Etienne sexy, no matter how silvery his eyes or impressive his physique. Not just because he spends all his time in a basement with his computers, or because - as he admits one morning to his mother - he hasn't had sex in two or three decades. No, it's because he's such a puppy dog. He's a kid. Bashful and a little dumb where women are concerned and eager to please. He acts a lot closer to twenty than three hundred.
Plus, and maybe I've just been reading too many of these vampire novels lately, but I am a little tired of the part of the novel when the heroine says something flip and a little rude and some older yet wiser vampire chuckles and observes, "Isn't she delightful?"
Also, this is a novel in which the vampires think that biting people is really taboo. They don't bite one another, they don't bite humans, they don't even appear to be very interested in biting. Where's the fun in that? They do, however, make all sorts of interesting blood cocktails. That's nice, but...eh.

If you like short stories that you can read quickly, (because you can't put it down) this book is awesome.
Not bad for quick stories........2007-10-02
Since this is a book of mini stories it made for quick reads. I wish they were full stories though so each story could be extended some, they left you wanting to know more of what happened after the story ended.

Until Death Do We Part by Sherrilyn Kenyon
Esperetta, daughter of Vlad Tepes, was on her way home when her escort was attacked by the Turks. Her savior, Velkan Danesti, took her to his home to care for her and while she was there, they fell in love and married. Esperetta's father had vowed to see Velkan dead. Velkan's family has disowned him because of his marriage to their enemy's daughter. Esperetta and Velkan devised a plan to fake their deaths so that they could leave the country and live in happiness. Their plans go awry and both end up dead. Artemis revived Velkan after he agreed to become one of her Dark Hunters and because the souls of both Velkan and Esperetta were joined in magic, Esperetta lived (after a fashion) with him. Because of seriously misunderstanding a few events, Esperetta and Velkan separated, hating each other. Five hundred years later, they meet again, both still hating the other. Can they get past their anger to once again find a love meant to last forever?
Although Until Death Do We Part is a good story, the five hundred year separation of Velkan and Retta really didn't seem all that believable, especially when Retta's companion, Francesca, was added. I simply couldn't see Francesca completely giving up seeing her family and all hope of finding a mate for that amount of time.
Ride The Night Wind by L.A.Banks
Jose has found a way of staying out of the gangs in East L.A. without being killed for not wanting to join. Jose is a very talented artist that does any artwork that the gangs want and they pay for it. Jose's mother hates the fact that he's both an artist and that he does jobs for the gangs. Juanita has finished high school, but has given up her dream of going to business school to help out her family by working in a pharmacy and taking care of her home, as well as raising her little brother. She resents that her mother loves her drug dealing big brother without reservation, but treats her like a servant that she doesn't even like. Jose and Juanita meet after being attacked by something evil. Can two people, although very much attracted to one another, stay together with so many things against them?
Ride The Night Wind is the first story that I've read of the Neturu Guardians, and I can tell you that it certainly won't be the last! Jose and Juanita have so many things fighting to keep them apart, although because of their separate destinies, it does take a while to get together. I absolutely loved Ride The Night Wind with its action, danger, love and passion all woven into a wonderful paranormal story. All of the characters feel so real that I felt like I could reach out and touch them.
The Gift by Susan Squires
London, March, 1820
When Major Vernon Davis Were was in El Golea, his embassy was attacked by a horde of vampires. Everyone was killed, all but him. When Asharti decided that she wanted Rufford, Davie was finally released from his slavery to go back to England to summon Rufford back to North Africa. Rufford went back to Asharti and killed her, now he's asked Davie to come back to help in the fight to destroy the vampire army that Asharti has left. He doesn't want to go back for several reasons, among them, he wants to stay well away from the place that, for him, was a living hell, plus he's about to ask Lady Emma Fairfield to be his wife. Feeling guilty that he was the one to send Rufford back to the hell that is North Africa, Davie leaves England and Emma to join the battle against the vampires. Little does he know that Emma refuses to give up the man she loves and follows him. Now both Emma and Davie are in danger of losing their lives.
I love how Ms. Squires has created her vampires. The Companion is a unique way to explain their vampirism. I adore Emma, Rufford, Fedeyah and Davie. The Gift is a fascinating story that I enjoyed greatly and I will be searching for more of Ms. Squires' vampire tales.
The Forgotten One by Ronda Thompson
Having lost her parents through an accident, Lady Anne Baldwin was taken in and raised by her aunt and uncle. Craving the love that she had lost through their parent's deaths, Anne does her best to be no trouble to the couple that never wanted children so that she can earn their love. When Anne meets Merrick, the new stable master, she is completely attracted to him and ends up not acting at all like herself. Anne's one rebellion is her love of horses. Merrick helps to build her self-confidence and in turn Ann falls deeply in love with him. There is no way that a noble heiress can be with a servant...or is there?
The Forgotten One is a tale that stole my heart. Anne is a shy, but strong woman and Merrick is deep down, a caring and sexy hero that is perfect for her. When Merrick changes after the first time they make love, Anne showed both him and me just how strong, stubborn and loving she could be. The Forgotten One is the perfect feel good end for this anthology.
Love At First Bite is a completely wonderful anthology that brings together love, passion and danger with very different, yet complimentary authors and their unique stories. For lovers of paranormal romances, Love At First Bite is one you should not miss!!

This story wasn't worth the money or the gas to drive to the book store to get it! This has got to be the worst Dark-Hunter story yet. I love this series but SK is just drowning for stories anymore. How do you clear up 500 years of misunderstanding in 70 pages??
The story was not believable in the least, neither character was fleshed out or likeable and the setting was dismal. SK used the history of the Turks/Romanians and Shakepeare's Romeo and Juliet in an attempt to flesh out the background of this story in order to fit it into 70 pages.
Not worth the money or the time to read it.

Many of us like the idea of tofu better than the reality, and few of us know how to cook with it. Chef Deborah Madison's This Can't Be Tofu addresses such qualms, offering 75 recipes for this healthful (high in protein and low in salt, fat, and calories) food. Madison knows that tofu can be delicious, and provides recipes for a wide range of dishes that glorify its fresh milky taste and yielding texture--or that use it to make other foods (like mayonnaise) better for us. Beginning with an introduction to tofu varieties, Madison then discusses tofu purchasing and basic preparation techniques such as draining and pressing, which make tofu a useful flavor medium. Quick and easy tofu recipes like Seared Tofu with Chives and Peppers follow, along with formulas for tofu-based appetizers, salads, soups, stir-fries, curries, and pasta, among other fare. Particularly winning recipes include Spring Rolls with Shredded Cabbage, Mushrooms, and Tofu; Red Pepper and Miso Soup with Tofu and Black Sesame; and Sautéed Asparagus with Curried Tofu and Tomatoes. Madison also provides breakfast recipes like Scrambled Tofu with Herbs and Cheese (and ones in which tofu takes the place--without imitation--of sausages), plus a group of tofu sweets, including shakes and smoothies. A short section on accompaniments, such as Sweet Potatoes Baked with Oranges, concludes this comprehensive introduction to an ancient food that Madison makes modern and newly delicious. --Arthur Boehm
Book Description
One taste and you'll say, "This can't be tofu!" But it is....
Nutritionists, doctors, and food authorities everywhere are telling us to eat more tofu. It's an excellent source of high-quality protein and calcium. It contains no cholesterol and is very low in calories and saturated fat. So why don't we eat more tofu? Because for too long tofu has been used as a substitute for other ingredients. Why turn tofu into a beef substitute in a burger, or pass it off as "cheese" in lasagna, when it is delicious on its own?
Now, in
This Can't Be Tofu!, award-winning and bestselling author of
Vegetarian Cooking for Everyone Deborah Madison shows how to make tofu taste great and be the star attraction in 75 stir-fries, sautés, and other dishes. Pan-Seared Tofu with Garlic, Ginger, and Chives, Vietnamese Spring Rolls, Curried Tofu Triangles with Peas, and Pineapple and Tofu Fried Rice are just some of the innovative recipes in this inspired collection.

What does it look like?.......2006-12-05
I purchased this book as a gift for a friend that recently decided to become vegetarian. I am unfamiliar with tofu and tofu cooking, as is she, so I thought it might be helpful to have a cookbook with tasty meatless recipes. Mind you, I haven't tried any of the recipes in this book, they may be delicious, but what I found disapointing is THERE ARE NO PICTURES (except for the three on the cover.) I hope the recipes in this book taste more appealing than the book is to look at.
Such Tasty Dishes!.......2006-11-18
Love the variety if offers, from breakfasts to desserts. Each time I sit down to plan my meals for the week, this one is right by my side. Anyone accustomed to flavorful meats seeking alternatives will love this book. Also the perfect size; not cumbersome to have in the kitchen.
Great recipes - good enough to forgive the title.......2006-06-07
I was bothered by the title of this book, which implied strongly that tofu is a thing that must be disguised or improved, requiring the proverbial "spoonful of sugar" to be palatable. I bought it anyway because flipping though the recipes looked very interesting, and I reasoned that if the author really felt that way about tofu, she probably wouldn't be writing a tofu cookbook... right?
I've had the cookbook for a few months and probably made about a dozen different recipes so far. Every one has been a hit with me and with my family. Two of the soups have have already become family standards. My favorite is one with Thai red curry, coconut milk and butternut squash. I'm a big fan of Thai food and could make this soup every week if I weren't committed to variety.
I haven't tried any of the sauces, but not a single recipe I've tried has been a dud.
You can't go wrong with this book.......2006-06-02
I have had this book for a couple of years and I cook from it frequently. It is true that many of the recipes call for frying, but the tofu is usually pan-fried in a very small quantity of oil. There are many Asian-inspired recipes, which doesn't bother me, because I find them all to be delicious. The recipe for Asian stock is great and it lends a lot of flavor to the dishes that use it. The szechuan tofu and green beans (which uses the mushroom soy sauce that one reviewer mentioned) is worth the small investment in a bottle of such an odd ingredient and the recipe is so good that I have gone through a big bottle of mushroom soy sauce using it only to make that one dish! And while it is true that some of the recipes are not vegetarian or vegan, I just want to add that I have been a vegetarian for a long time and I own dozens of vegetarian cookbooks, and for some reason the best ones are written by people who are not vegetarian!
Great Tofu Cookbook.......2006-03-14
I bought this cookbook after checking it out from the library two times in a row. It was so good, I wanted one! In fact, it was so good I bought two, one for me and one for my best friend.
Most of the recipes are vegetarian, and can be adapted to vegan if needed. The entire book is worth the price for the soy chorizo recipe. It is excellent.

Book Description
In light of constantly changing attitudes and expectations, relationships are more complicated than ever. The simple days of "Should I or shouldn't I?" or "When should I?" have come and gone. Now it is "What things should I do?" "What will he think if I ask for this?" and "Do I even like him outside the bedroom?" With so many women feeling confused and uncertain in matters of sex, dating, and maintaining relationships, this book's no-nonsense approach and timely advice will prove invaluable.
In bite-sized sections, the author explains how to develop sexual techniques, practice safer sex, and be a more creative lover. She then ventures beyond the bedroom and offers practical suggestions on meeting men, enjoying dates, and strengthening a committed relationship. The author shows how to alleviate the fear of maintaining independence while building a healthy relationship and how to feel fulfilled whether single or partnered.

Strange murders take LA police detective Jace Levy straight into the arms of the renowned photographer, Risha, as seductively beautiful as she is talented. This erotic, dark mystery was the basis for the made-for-TV-movie "Deadly Love," starring Susan Dey.

Dark paranormal romance meets hard boiled detective novel.......2004-10-09
This book to me is a melding of two of my favorite genres- the hardboiled detective meeting the mysterious hungry vampire who only feeds on the unsavory ones who society disdains. The hero reminds me of Michael Connely's tormented Harry Bosch.
The ending is satisfying and has a ring of moral redemption while at the same time plunging our hero into the vampiress' darkness. Few romance type books have the female as the vampire- this mystery does a great job of moving the story along and building a tale with compelling and interesting characters. WOuld love to read more like this- how about a sequel?
Love Bite -- Great Book.......2000-07-09
This is actually a very good book. It's written about a vampire named Rissa that puts an ad in the newspaper "Looking For Love." She's got a very organized way of eating dinner, too. Jace is a good character, as well. I thought it was an amusing book, and definetly worth reading if you're a fan of vampire novels. It's got some original parts. Read the sequel, too.
It was a great book.......1999-06-10
This book had everything I usually look for in a vampire novel. The main character....Risha Cadigan was a sharp, intelligent lady vampire. Very well written. The author definalty researched the police investigation aspect of the plot. An excellent book.

Don't Enter The Dating World Until You Read This Book.......2000-01-13
I read this book after struggling in a string of secular based relationships. The author introduced the concept (which was new to me!) that I was worthy, that relationships needed Christ at its center, and that prayer in seeking His will is essential. WOW! After 2 years of putting this into practice, and after reading this and re-reading this book, I met the Christian man of my dreams. The Lord used Ken Abraham as a messenger to bring single Christians direction in dating according to His plan. I thank God for Ken and message. One part that really caught my eye pointed out that you should be praying for the person that would be coming into your life when God wanted him/her to, as this person might be struggling as well. Ken was so right. I learned that my husband was struggling with some issues at the very same time I was reading Ken's book! I am now a Christian counselor and I share this book with anyone I can...I have to purchase another book--I can't get folks to return this book!
RECOMMEND TO EACH AND EVERY SINGLE PERSON!.......1999-08-10
I'm not a person who usually reads, however when I began to read this book, I literally could NOT put it down. I took the book to work, and read it every chance I could. I even would take half of my lunch break to read at least ONE chapter of the book.
Thank you Mr. Abraham for writing such a DYNAMIC book. It is showered down with wisdom within each chapter of the book. All sixteen chapters were superb!
A friend has borrowed my copy because she was not able to obtain her own. When she returns it - I will read the book AGAIN! I am recommending it to all my friends.

Product Description
The first time I met Floyd Salas--nearly three decades ago--he was accompanying a dog, a large, beautiful pooch named Sergie. The two had much in common: they were friendly, smart and tough if riled. As I grew to know Salas better and better, I learned that he feels incomplete without a dog or cat in his life. His poems can draw our attention to how precious interspecies relationshops can be, and to how much we can gain if we give of ourselves. Few accomplished prose writers have also written poetry this powerful, and few writers have so well captured the essence of our relationship with those creatures we call pets.
