5 out of 5 stars All three books deserve 5 stars.......2007-08-03

This review will cover my thoughts on all 3 books (yeah.. I'm lazy).

After waiting for almost a week for this 3rd book to arrive, I finally got to finish it last night. I won't go into plot summary since it's already written many times over, but will write about how I feel about this trilogy instead. LWJ was a new author to me and I'm so glad to have 'discovered' her. Each book was written flawlessly with engaging characters, rich setting and excellent world building, exciting plot, and much more. I fell in love with 'The Sun Witch' immediately after I read the first chapter and thought LWJ wouldn't be able to top that. I was wrong. The second and third book were as good, if not better.

I have to admit that of all the 3 sisters, I was least interested in Isadora. She seemed to be so cold, so bitter, basically not sympathetic at all. So I wasn't expecting much when I picked up 'The Star Witch' other than to find out how it ended. Then her character slowly but surely changed in front of my eyes and suddenly I was so engrossed in her story and realized I liked her character best.

The evil emperor's character, Sebastyen, was so complex and layered, I couldn't hate him entirely without feeling sorry for how his story ended, eventhough he's done many many evil things to his people and especially to Liana. And Liana? Well.. she's the real special character in this story. She managed to steal every scene she appeared in all three books. Her relationship with Sebastyen was probably one of the most screwed up relationships I've read in a romance novel, yet interestingly enough, I still wished for a happy ending for both of them. I would love to read more about her.

All in all, it's been a very satisfying read and I can't wait to start reading the story of these sisters' first borns.

5 out of 5 stars One of the Best Series! Ms. Jones' Voice is Unstoppable!.......2007-03-10

The emotional wealth that lies within a woman does not change when powered by spells and wizardry. Love is no more or no less, it is just that, love. It can create kingdoms and bare fruit, but it can also destroy and corrupt. Behold the magical writing of...The Star Witch!

A boy will grow into a warrior destined to become the Prince of Swords. Trained by a wizard, Lucan has honed his mind and body to master his emotions and the elements around him. He is truly one with his mighty sword! But, he will have to find the Star of Bacwyr, before he can become the Prince of Swords.

It is in this journey to find the Star of Bacwyr that Lucan finds himself taken with the presence of Isadora. She shines with an inner beauty he cannot resist. A woman he does not realize is a witch! Lucan was warned as a young boy to beware of witches. What will happen when these two unite? Is Isadora a good witch or has darkness overtaken her soul?

The Star Witch is the newest release by author Linda Winstead Jones. This is the third book in the trilogy, following in the footsteps of The Moon Witch and The Sun Witch. Ms. Jones wielded the magic in her pen and flung it to the winds, landing back upon the pages, creating a spellbinding story of magical lovers! The premise is so fresh; the angels in heaven might even weep. How refreshing! In a field saturated with middle of the road paranormal novels, this one commands respect and she has this reader's wholeheartedly. The characters are filled with emotional realism and fortitude. It is not enough that this book is exciting to read, but when you cast in an erotic presence - it kicks this tale up to a fever pitch. It is obvious this author put her heart and soul into each and every word.

This book is so well written, it could easily be a stand alone, but from the first page you will be heading out to get the rest of this trilogy.

Isadora is the oldest of the Fyne sisters. A curse has robbed this family of love for three hundred years. It has touched her life by taking her husband, Willym. She has vowed to never love another man like she loved Willym. Isadora is now a prisoner and she is caring for a pampered queen whose husband is cruel and deviant. From the moment she looks upon Lucan her body responds to the sensual creature that he is. His handsome exterior hides the predator and warrior that lurks close to the surface waiting to strike! Yet, when he takes Isadora it is calculated - overtaking her with patience and passion!

The Star Witch is one of the best paranormal novels this reviewer has read this year! This is the type of love story that will mark the reader's souls and stay with them long after the book has closed. There is a lingering essence of a sequel. This reviewer cannot wait for Ms. Jones to pick up the threads to weave another crafted tale of arousing and mystical love. Ms. Jones truly is the mistress of magical wordplay! Do not think or hesitate, just buy! The Star Witch by author Linda Winstead Jones.

5 out of 5 stars Isadora of the Stars.......2007-03-04

My favorite story of the trilogy

Hard, proud, and determined, Isadora is the eldest of the Fayne sisters, she has deep scares on her soul. A life time ago, Isadora believed her love could withstand the curse, bur she was wrong and her beloved husband William payed the price. She has closed her heart to all, and even keeps her sisters at a distance, But even steal willed Isadora can't stop the tide of desitny. Sepreated from her sisters for the first time in her life, she has no way of knowing if they will ever meet again. But she would know if they were dead wouldn't she? In the meantime Isadora has her hands full, she is the prisoner of the emperor Sebastian. Her life is balanced on a knifes point. A word from Sebastian will send Isadora to her death, or worse to a living hell. If that wasn't enough her powers are failing and she is risking her life to protect the empresses unborn twins. To top it all, she finds herself falling in love again, with a man she was sent by the Emperor to spy upon, A man carrying secrets of his own. Can Isadora find the strength to follow her heart? Will She servive Sabastian's twisted power games? Will the sisters be reunited? Will/ can the curse really be broken? All the many threads are woven together in the masterful conclusion of the Sisters of the sun trilogy. Look for Prince of Magic, the first in the next generation follow up to the Sisters of the Sun.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent Series!!!.......2006-12-04

I bought this entire series based upon the rave reviews and interesting premise that I saw here on Amazon. I was not at all disappointed. In fact, because I bought them all at one time in ebook format, I spent a sleepless weekend devouring one book after another..actually biting my nails in anticipation!

This is an excellent series and I heartily suggest that you purchase all three books at once. (The first book, The Sun Witch, is my favorite. It sets the stage in an edge-of-your-seat manner that is maintained throughout the series.) The characters in all three books are wonderfully full-bodied and the separate but intertwined stories of all three sisters flow together one right after the other through the second and third books.

There is not much more that I can add about this series that has not already been said before; however I do agree with one of the other reviewers that I would like to see Lianne have her own book. I found the evolution of the relationship between Sebestyen and Lianne to be just as intriguing as, and definitely more sad than, the three heroines. Even though Sebestyen was a horrible character I found myself wishing that there had been some way to save him from himself and redeem him.

There are so many rave reviews and I agree with them all that this entire series deserves 5 stars.

5 out of 5 stars A fantastic conclusion to a great series!.......2006-03-01

Isadora is without her sisters for the first time in her life, and a slave in the Emperor Sebestyen's strange and formidable palace. Having killed two men, she finds her magic all but gone. Acting as Empress Liane's personal witch, she decides to choose to protect Liane in order to try and regain the power she has lost.

Having lost her first husband Willym to the Fyne Curse, Isadora refuses to ever love another man. However when Lucan Hern from the Circle of Bacwyr visits the palace, Isadora becomes Sebestyens pawn. Forced to go to Lucan bed, it is his gentleness that eventually melts the hard shell around her heart, but she dare not fall in love for Isadora doesn't think she could survive loosing another man to the curse.

The rebels are growing stronger and threaten the safety of the Empress Liane and her unborn children. Having sworn to protect her, Isadora hopes to be able to help her deliver the children and then sneak out of the place. Only getting thrown into the pit of Level thirteen changes her plans as well as Lucans.

Lucan is at the palace for dual reasons: first to decide if his brother should be able to marry his pregnant mistress and secondly but the more important reason, to regain the Star of Bacwyr - and he thinks he has found it on Isadora's finger.

Linda Winstead Jones has written an awesome conclusion to the WITCH sisters trilogy. In the final installment, she still masterfully juggles the lives of the three sisters as well as the events around Liane who has become a very important character to me.

Emperor Sebestyen surprised me as a character the way he developed into a person. I would actually like Liane to have her own story, but this may just be wishful thinking of a reader.

Isadora has had a lot of tragedy in her life as well as the responsibility of her two younger sisters. She is a very strong woman, and I think that being forced to do the will of another was probably good for her because she ended up with Lucan. A man, strong of character who wanted her to really come to him of her own free will so he didn't abuse her. Instead he was able to reawaken Isadora as a woman rather than just a living human.

THE STAR WITCH was an excellent book in a fantastic series. Honestly, I think my favorite was the second book, but that may also have something to do with the fact that this is the end and I don't like having a good story reach its conclusion! I would highly recommend reading this trilogy in order because each book does build one the previous.

2 out of 5 stars The Worst Ending I have ever read!.......2007-07-25

I have all "The Banned and The Banished" books and I was really excited that I got to the last book and I was hoping to read a book that ends in a way that left me in tears. Well, it did, but in tears of anger. James Clemens decided to end his 5-Book-Long series in the worst possible way. It just . . . ends. It tells you what happened to Joach (my least favorite character), but you never know what happened to Er'ril or Elena or anyone else! Also, he decided to throw in a very boring sidestory that really had no purpose in the story. I think that he just got bored of the series and ended it so he can start his MUCH better book series, The Godslayer Chronicles, but either way, after 5 books of Er'ril of Standi and his fight against the Gul'gotha, this is the worst book to end to the series with. The only reason the story got a star above 1 is because of the spicy scene between Er'ril and Elena. Other than that, shame on you, James, but at least "Shadowfall" and "Hinterland" are amazing books.

5 out of 5 stars An amazing conclusion for and amazing series.......2006-06-30

Wow the adventures that Elena has gone throught to get here were spine tingling and now her adventure came to an end that is garenteed to surprise all.

4 out of 5 stars Pleasant Read.......2006-06-05

The final book in the series which started with Wit'ch Fire, Storm, War, Gate and finally Star. While I did enjoy the series, and the writing was solid, it did not blow me away completely. The accents (') were a little annoying since every race, a lot of characters and places had them. Many familiar fantasy creatures were used such as goblins and dwarves, but Clemons put a nice spin on them to make them a little differant, as well as a unique take on magic. He had some great ideas and the feel of a great sprawling epic. I don't think this will be remembered as one of the great fantasy stories of all time, I do think this is a great beginning for a new fantasy writer and I will be picking up the book Shadowfall in his new series.

3 out of 5 stars The story ends.......2005-02-07

The story ends with the final insallment of the Banned and the Banished series. And it does, in fact, end.

Elena and her motley crew face the biggest challenges yet in this climax to the story arc. Here we learn exactly who and what the Dark Lord is (a rather disappointing choice in my opinion, though unexpected) and more importantly, why he has corrupted the land (and an even bigger disappointment).

The reasons are hard to believe in that they really don't hold with the amount of devestation the Dark Lord has caused.

This last chapter as a whole is a good end to the series however. We do lay to rest many questions, although the ultimate question "what happens next?" isn't answered for us. It almost seems as though Clemens is leaving a spark with which to start a new series about the land of Alasea. At one point we are simply cut off from the stories of our characters' lives with only one small insight into what might have happened to them after the final showdown.

The end isn't entirely disappointing with the well-written battles we've come to expect and at least the characters aren't left hanging.

The character introduced in this book as an addition to Elena's crew seems underused. Almost as if Clemens had more in mind for him, but was cut short on length.

Some of the paths he sets his characters on in this final chapter are somewhat out of character, making it seem like he put these things in randomly simply to move the plot forward and with no real reasoning behind them. It left me feeling betrayed after reading about characters I've come to know doing things they would never do.

But overall the series holds up as a good read and worth the time. It isn't as brilliant as it could have been, but it doesn't completely lose shape and fall apart after the first 3 books either.

5 out of 5 stars Awesome!.......2004-01-04

My daughter and I read Wit'ch Fire when it first came out and loved it! We could hardly wait for each new book to be published and would read each in 1-2 days. Clemens' writing takes the reader into the story with such vividly described characters and events that I almost felt like I was right there with them. I felt almost disappointed that the series ended. I have purchased the entire set and everyone who has read these books has loved them!

Meet her teachers as she wanders through middle earth, the lower world, and the upper world, following the path of her heart. Begin in the East, and circle the Medicine Wheel to the North, finding yourself along the way. This is a heroine's journey, correlating with the journey of the fool in the major arcana of the tarot. It is also a story of finding lost soul parts, and finding your way back to your home in the stars. It is about magic, miracles, power animals, angels, witchcraft, shamanism, and shapeshifting. This is Louise's story, the one she knows by heart. And it is your story, too-the one that you forgot. "Remember You Are Magic"

Unlike most reviewers, I COULD put Journey by Night down - as when you
are spellbound by a beautiful dream - and you don't want it to end....

My journey through this book took me to a completely new place. I read
and reread lines, passages, poems and chapters. As with anything practiced, it got easier...
to capture a glimpse of what can be possible
on ones own personal journey.

I evolved from an onlooker in that solitary night, to a seeker.

This book and its wisdom will be my bedside companion.

Let us hope there will be many more to come.

5 out of 5 stars I would give this 10 stars if I could!!!!.......2007-03-06

You would have thought Ms. StrongBear wrote books for years. Journey by Night was very inspirational. This is one to remember...come and be a Wayfarer, as Wolf states: "Wayfarer is one who travels by foot, one step at a time. This is a way of learning. Human steps." If you feel lost and alone in the world, travel with StrongBear and meet her animated characters. Once you meet "Jimmy the Leprechaun" and feel his comedic charm, (as he tickles you and himself) but his passionate soul will let you know how similar we are with other living creatures. If you are not satisfied with his cleverness, stroll down the page and take a whimsical retreat into Pegasus world. His world is not filled with long-term suffering and illness; the aura is pleasant--letting you know that the grass is greener on the other side. After reading this book it will answer your question and have you asking questions...you would want to learn more about magic!

I would like to thank you Louise StrongBear for opening up my thinking to a whole new world. I am inspired and I believe you are a healer with the ability to capture your reader. Capturing your reader to make them believe they were there with you while in fear, afraid; but yet, having the courage to find out who you are. Hesitant but eager to connect to helpful strangers; with the question--"Haven't we met before?" Questioning should you give up, but kept your feet planted on the ground as you trotted to your destiny.

Thank you once more for bringing your iridescence as you journey by night. The stars and moon are shining bright for you. Thanks for creating an uplifting story.

Book Description

A group of witches gathers in the town of Tunston, on a simple undeveloped world far distant from our own. Magda, Tephee, Sylvia, and Leenan each have their own unique gifts of power. Witches are not trusted in this distant world, in which magic works but technology, which is associated with a widespread religious order referred to as "the Arc," is feeble. In the spring, a group of exiles arrives in Tunston. They bring news of the overthrow of King Armand of Tyne, deposed by his cousin with the aid of a witch, Zuleika Tallan. Discovering the deposed king is still alive, the witches decide to journey to Tyne. Meeting the injured king at last, Sylvia announces her intention to defeat Zuleika regardless of his wishes. King Armand is irresolute, and the mysterious enmity of the exiled captain of the castle guard with the king boils over and affects the group. Magda and her friends must work to overcome their own problems before the true king and his ragtag army are destroyed. On their journey they discover that one of them holds the key to ultimate victory, but will she learn to control her power in time to avert disaster? In the end, all that the witches can count on is their own inner strength - and each other.

4 out of 5 stars A highly evocative and original Sci/Fi Fantasy Adventure.......2007-02-23

Witch Honour is set in a far distant future on a primitive world where magic and witchcraft abound. Magda and her three witch friends set out to help a ragtag band of exiles overthrow an evil tyrrany that threatens to engulf the world. The friends' epic journey culminates in a monumental battle between good and evil. Narrelle Harris' highly evocative novel aptly captures all the violence, desperation and savagery of war, the wonder of magic and the fragile nature of the bonds of friendship. Witch Honour is an unusual, highly original, exciting and heart-warming page turner.

5 out of 5 stars delightful fantasy.......2004-11-14

Although she was trained as a doctor, Magda and a shuttle pilot entered a nexus, emerged into another dimension and landed on a planet where magic works although the people are afraid of anyone who demonstrates they have the ability. Magda sets herself up as the healer in the town of Tunston. When Tephee's mother throws her out for being a witch Magda takes her in and she welcomes Sylvia and Leenan who are also witches.

A troupe of players come to town and two of them Kiedrych and Tamalan served King Armand before he was disposed by his cousin Saebert and his paramour, the evil witch Zuleika. When Sylvia magically touches Zuleika, she realizes the witch has to be killed before she conquers more territory. They find Armand and encourage him to battle Saebert's forces while she and her three witch friends take care of Zuleika.

There are four protagonists in WITCH HONOUR and all of them are treated equally so that readers know their strengths, weaknesses, and fears. Magda never had magic until she landed in this new land but there is something about it that allows it to flourish. Those who have it don't tread an easy path because of the animosity of people who have no magic. Narelle M. Harris has written some fantastic strategy sessions as the allies plot to dispose the usurper. The battle scenes are great and the secondary characters also play a major role in romance and comic relief scenarios.

I am one who loves all of Tarostars books, well the two that I have anyway. This book is excellent for those in Hoodoo, Voodoo, Bruejria, Curanderia and Santeria.

The way it is written and the Spells in the back remind me of the old time spells, used in Latin America. Some Cursing Spells, with a little Hexing and Protection. The oil section, is good. I was not to crazy about the floor washes, as this is not the way I personally do them. Actually not even close. But the rest of the book is a great little read. I recommend this book to all those Brujos, who do not fear Karma, like Christians Fear the Devil. I would also put a sticker on this Book. "Advisory Some Black Magic Included."

5 out of 5 stars mindful of the "Warlock Who ..." tales .......2007-02-23

A millennium ago, a colony ship landed on the planet and after a time, some of the passengers was able to perform magic. A religious schism divided the colonists into two groups: the Leylites who worship the Earth-mother and revere the witches and the Priests of the Arc who worship the First King and his Lords (the pilot and his crew). When a civil war broke out, it was in large part due to the King regaining his throne after the coup. Magda, the leader of the witches, who was a Sol Fleet doctor before she crashed on the planet, combines her medical skill with magic.

The witches are talented and cherished in Tyne, but many people also fear them. The nation of Marin Kuta bans witches and closed its borders so none can enter. When it is learned that a space craft landed there, Magda and her three witch companions journey into Tyne because her friends need advanced medical attention that she cannot provide. The closer they get to their destination, the deadlier the anti witch fervor is. Magda knows she must persuade the ship's captain that magic is real and also end the schism that hurts everyone.

Readers who enjoy the "Warlock Who ..." tales will appreciate this fine science fiction fantasy. Magda becomes the bridge between the two approved religions as her medical skill and her magic abilities enable her to keep a foot in both worlds. Narelle M. Harris is a strong world builder who provides intricate details on religion and culture in a feudal system that came about in order to survive. The divisiveness of the crew and the splinter between the two prime groups leads to a powerful sometimes violent fantasy thriller with sic fi overtones.

    5 out of 5 stars i LOVE this book!.......2007-02-05

This book is awesome! It is the perfect book for the Wicca teen. I strongly recommend it for any teen trying to get together their BOS. There is also a really cool section that lists the different forms of divination. Love it!

    3 out of 5 stars Not what I expected.......2006-03-09

Even though it wasn't up to what I was expecting it is still a great little book for the beginner. Easy to read and full of information.

    5 out of 5 stars MUY BUENO!.......2005-07-28

this is the first book on Wicca i ever bought and it taught me so much. its greta for beginners who arent sure where to start or people who want to understand The Craft a little more. with everything from explanations of what a Book of Shadows is and what kidns of stuff to put in it to what Wiccans believe and tips for talking to your parents about it, this book is awesome.

5 out of 5 stars FInally a book that treats teens like real people.......2005-06-23

not once does this author talk down to Teens (which leads me to believe the last reviewer was just plain lazy - there's nothing here that's difficult to read, that doesn't make sense, or poorly written... unless of course you were looking for Charmed style magick in a book).

I, for one, am thankful to have been given good ideas on how to deal with parents (this hasn't been easy for me or many of my friends). I'm also thankful that when adults look at this book, they don't see unintelligent rants on turning your boyfriend into a toad (no matter how much the guy might deserve it).

Telesco has given Teens a tome with which to grow and move forward in responsible ways, and not made a lot of errors previous writers have made when dealing with the teen market. Thank YOU!

2 out of 5 stars could be good..........2005-05-14

I think it actually could be good, if it wasn't such a boring language. some parts I liked and some parts I didn't even read. it contains some good things... and a lot of blah. in my room, it's just standing, collecting dust. but maybe that's just me... I'm too lazy to read books which are badly-written.
    blessed be
and sorry if I was too bitchy
