so,
i like lora leigh's more recent stuff. this book must be one of her earlier works. its really steamy and graphic, but the story isn't as good as her newer books. but that's to be expected and its kinda cool to watch a writer's style develop through her books.

4 out of 5 stars Good Read.......2006-05-11

Ok, not near as good as the second book in this series(When Wizard Rule) I was still glad I read it since it helps me understand more of the history of the setting.

5 out of 5 stars HOT ! HOT! HOT!.......2005-12-16

ON the world of Sentmar magic is contained in the bodies of the male, Twin wizards, and the female, princess. Only when the three are joined do they come into their greatest powers.

Brianna, has only heard horror stories of the joining. As a matter of fact there have been no joined pairs in a thousand yrs. Now all the magic is going away. She has to join with Lasan and Drago.

Lasan and Drago are twins with one soul and heart in 2 bodies. They have been promised their Consort, but Brianna is unwilling to join with the both of them. However, the unmagiced people are begining to attack and will soon overcome both male and female magic users if the balance is not adjusted.

I really didn't think this would be a good read. But it is not just a good romance, it has a great plot and I hope she intends to write the story of Brianna's two sisters. It was a very good fantasy.

1 out of 5 stars Waste of time, money, etc........2005-12-14

Do not waste any time, money on this book. Terrible, boring! I had to read and reread, I lost interest so many times, that should be a crime in any erotic romance, I hear Lora Leigh is good and this is not her best effort but my God this was so poorly written I don't think I can try another. Read Emma Holly if you want really good erotic romance or Angela Knight.

2 out of 5 stars Boring..........2005-10-16

I normally love books written by Lora, especially if they involve menage, but for some reason this book did not work for me. I think a lot of time was wasted in detailing the setting of the story and too little time was given to the characters. If you are looking for a good series, try the August brothers or the Bound Hearts series instead....

2 out of 5 stars Livin' Large .......2005-11-17

Menage has everything: a successful chop shop, money, bling, cars, women, a huge house... But when his girlfriend is kidnapped, his life takes a turn for the worse. Now he isn't sure who are his friends and who are his enemies or even if he wants to live this fast-paced life anymore. Will he find his way before it's too late?

Victor L. Martin did an excellent job of drawing the world his characters lived in. I could see, feel, and hear everything he introduced me to. The downfall of the novel is the practically non-existent plot and character development. The first chapter-the rescue of Menage's girlfriend-was action packed, but way too unrealistic. Then Martin stopped the already convoluted plot to show the every day life of Menage, which was the same day in and day out. Finally he rushed to complete the plot in the last two chapters. I enjoy watching writers as they mature in the craft. MENAGE'S WAY is Martin's second book. In the future I'd like to see if Martin pulls back on his focus on the lifestyle for a more balanced novel.

5 out of 5 stars One of the best erotic novels out there.......2007-08-09

Menage by Emma Holly is one of the best erotic novels I have ever had the pleasure of reading. It combines together scenes of M/W, M/M, M/W/M that would get almost any one in the mood with real charters. You actually get involved in the plot. Some novels there is a loose plot to get you from encounter to encounter but not so in most of Ms. Holly's books.

5 out of 5 stars Well written threesom........2007-03-09

Heaps of steamy sex scenes, just enough story, and only one scene that made me uncomfortable. Even has a beautiful romantic feel to the story. That's what I love, passionate writting that makes you wish your own life were as fulfilling, romance to make you sigh, and an occasional laugh to keep you grounded.
One of Emma Holly's best.
The female character, Kate, is strong enough not to be annoying, but vulnerable enough to still be interesting. The guys are separate characters, not refections of the same.
It's definetly a love story, only with three people instead of two. There's a small amount of dealing with that issue, but not too much that it distracts form the love story itself.
I'll definetly read it again.

3 out of 5 stars Not Happy!!!.......2006-11-04

5 out of 5 stars Interesting sci fi erotica, well written.......2007-01-05

I've read all of Evangeline Anderson's books, and she never fails to turn out an entertaining read, whatever the genre. But I think she really excels at sci fi. She describes worlds that are believable and complete, and somehow manages to do this without needing to fill hundreds of pages of description. Her characters are well rounded, their motivations understandable, and that, for me at least, is terribly important. "Take Two" is no exception. The two male characters (don't think I'm giving away any secrets or spoilers if I say it's a menage - that's pretty obvious from the blurb) are well drawn, and each a perfect foil for the other. I like Sadie, the heroine, though sometimes I wished she could see past her upbringing - but then again, aren't we all hampered by said upbringing? Her hesitation is far more believable than if she'd just abandoned everything in favour of a hot affair. She'd never have been able to reconcile it afterward, I don't think. But that's just me. :-) That being said, when they did get together, the sex scenes fit in pretty well with the rest of the plotline (something I can't say about all erotica) and, in spite of what another reviewer said, I found them plenty steamy and not boring at all! My only complaint is, I really wish the book had been longer, as some parts felt a bit rushed.
In short, if you want a book that gives you a solid background storyline, as well as very hot erotica, this is a good choice. If you enjoy it, I highly recommend this author's other work - especially another of her sci fi books, "Pleasure Planet". That, IMHO, is even better.

5 out of 5 stars HOT HOT HOT !.......2006-12-13

I have read some of Evangeline Anderson's work infact I just finished Ceremony of Three... And I have started to read Take Two her books are wonderful and very very hot. I would recommend her books to anyone who likes alittle spice in there diet.

5 out of 5 stars TAKE TWO? Yes, please..........2006-12-13

As an author of erotic fiction, I envy Evangeline Anderson's writing style. She can make you weep, make you laugh, and make you HOT. I love all of her books, but TAKE TWO is one of my favorite reads. If you like Thea Devine, Robin Schone, Jaid Black, or Lora Leigh, you will adore Evangeline Anderson.

2 out of 5 stars Boring!.......2006-12-12

This book was beyond boring. It was definitely more sci-fi oriented than erotic. It took forever for any action to start, and when it did, it wasn't told with any detail. If you are into the menage a trois fantasy, don't waste your time or money on this thing.

5 out of 5 stars New review from German site for Take Two.......2006-11-07

Now that Take Two is out, I'm getting all kinds of good reviews for it. I got four stars from RT magazine and five cups from Erotic Romance. But I think my favorite review so far comes from the German romance journal, Loveletter. This was forwarded to me by a friend who wrote and translated the review from German into English. I think you'll find it doesn't lose a bit in the translation

Erotica/Futuristic

Evangeline Anderson

Take Two

In search of a professional challenge, fledgling reporter Sadie Thomas decides to leave the Earth colonies. On a Saturn mining colony she poses as a cybernetic prostitute, in hope to thusly gain better insights about the intergalactic sex industry. However, she didn't anticipate meeting Detectives David Blakely and Christian Holstein, who are investigating undercover some dishonest machinations. Henceforth, the newly founded ménage à trois not only surrenders to sensual challenges but also has to fight against unforeseen dangers...

The formerly with e-publisher Liquid Silver Books released story Take Two by Evangeline Anderson offers an entertaining reading time for fans of futuristic stories combined with plenty of sex scenes. Sadie, David and Christian make a nice trio, differently characterized, but without missing popular characteristics, they take the reader into a world full of sex & crime. Evangeline Anderson's forte is definitely to pen erotic love scenes and to create intensive characters. The newly built universe supports the advancement of the suspense part with its invented conditions and rules; however it should be mentioned that the main focus lies unquestionably on the relationship and sex scenes.

Katharina for the

German romance journal LoveLetter.

Isn't that great? I love a review that makes me smile and this one is definitely unique. : ) Evangeline

4 out of 5 stars great, but with a French accent.......1999-08-05

I found the book to be very helpful if a little too detailed. My only real complaint is that some of the French humor doesn't translate well into English, leading to some distracting prose.

5 out of 5 stars Exhaustively thorough.......1998-07-04

This book has to be the most complete single book on sailing. Among the topics covered are sailboarding, fiberglass repair, and catamaran trim. The book does have a European bias, however, so the sections on weather and buoyage aren't as useful for an American audience as, say, those in the Annapolis book. It also has quirky sidebars, like how to make a collapsing log. It's an invaluable reference and a good read.

5 out of 5 stars This is an excellent one-volume guide to practical sailing.......1998-06-02

The Glenans school has been teaching sailing since WWII, and the wealth of practical experience they have shows in this book. This is the best single volume on sailing that I have seen; it combines clear explanations of the physics behind sailing with a vast amount of hands-on knowledge.

For American readers, I will point out two caveats: firstly, in the chapter on meteorology, the book spends a fair amount of time discussing Mediterranean weather. Secondly, when discussing bouyage, the book uses the European system, which is different than the American one (the difference is explained in a sidebar.)

I highly recommend this book to any sailor.

The Other Woman is about two girls/one guy, a menege, if you will. Written in a higly erotic tone, this book is about a guy who can't believe his luck at having two women and evenutally messes it all up. But the tone is humorous and flirty, which makes it a very sexy and fulfilling read.

4 out of 5 stars Great Book. Couldn't wait for 2nd book in series.......2005-07-28

I totally and completly disagree with the previous review. I think Mari Byrne is an exceptional talent and I believe the series will only get better as it progresses. This book is a all around great story about opening up and trying new things, about love unexpected and embraced. It also offers political intrigue and let's you see into a world where the women are the ones in the dominant positions in politics. I loved this book and I think that Queens Warriors was even better ,and I can't wait for the third book in the series. In one aspect I do somewhat agree with the previous reviewer. If your looking for a book that contains bondage and submission this is not the book for you. If your looking for a book about unconditional love with hotttt hotttt love scenes this is the book for you. I think the characters were great. I totally connected with Stephanie and I could almost feel the brothers love for her, and their desperation for her to accept them for who and what they are. Great Book I give it 4 stars.

2 out of 5 stars All Around Disappointing!.......2005-05-09

A book about a menage a tois with gorgeous twin brothers ought to make your breath come faster and your pulse race...right? Well, not this book.

While the plot itself isn't TOO awful--twin princes from another realm needing a single shared bride to replace the evil and vicious queen currently on the throne--it needs a great deal more characterization and fewer narrative gaps to make it readable. The brothers are almost indisguishable personality-wise and the heroine, while better drawn, is still rather one dimensional.

The sex scenes were also notably amateurish, by an author who obviously has no experience with this sort of thing and less imagination. For example, the author tells you that the twins are into bondage and very kinky sex, and she talks a great deal about all the sex toys they have available in the apartment with them but then only one of the (many) sex scenes that follows features even a tiny bit of bondage.

All in all, there are lots of interesting possibilities here but the bad writing and the lack of follow through on the ideas make for a disappointing read.

If longevity is the proof and ménages à trois is the pudding, then Three in Love is an appropriate recipe for this classically suspect concoction. Claiming that their own 16-year relationship is as valid an arrangement as marriage, the authors offer their defense with a mild dose of psychology amidst examples of famous threesomes--the more familiar (Lord Nelson and the Hamiltons, June & Henry Miller and Anaïs Nin) as well as some surprises.

Book Description

The ménage à trois has long been an aspect of human love. Explored in literature and films, this lovestyle is taboo for some, the fantasy of others, and a reality for remarkable modern people. The authors trace the history, psychology and dynamics of famous threesomes, which have included such love stars as Casanova, Percy and Mary Shelley, Henry Miller, Anaïs Nin, D.H. Lawrence, Ernest Hemingway, Simone de Beauvoir and Greta Garbo.

Customer Reviews:

2 out of 5 stars Three in Tragedy.......2007-09-30

Three In Love has been called a well researched history and that it seems to be. There was endless name dropping of who did who. Not being a historian, I had no idea who most of these people were and the authors neglected to tell me. That made the book very tedious. Moreover there was too much fact and not enough understanding. I found myself thirsting for insight. The few precious times the authors did discuss the emotional process involved it seemed rushed and brief.

This book is really miss-titled. It was only rarely about love. The menage a trois described were consistently tragic. They neatly fit the conventional view of a threesome as an immeshed, jealous, mess. Most often they were a maladjustment to one person's reckless promiscuity, or a someone's projection of their own obsessions, or at best, an adaptation to one partner's physical or emotional impotency. I was not left with a single story of enduring success. In short, I wouldn't want to be anyone in this book. It adds up to a real good argument to the point that a healthy menage a trois is impossible.

Ironically the best part of the book was the introduction, where the authors own family of three was described as warm and stable. We saw their yearning for recognition of this life choice. Those who live this lifestyle need a standard bearer. They need a book to leave conspicuously on the desk at work, or to give to others to say "This is what I'm about" Unfortunately this is not it. There are no good role models here.

5 out of 5 stars Lots of information and entertainment.......2007-06-24

I stumbled upon this book about historic threesomes by accident after looking at Letha Hadady's blog. She is one of the three authors who wrote Three in Love. I expected to find health tips, stale research, or dirty stories. Three in Love is none of these. It tells facinating stories of love and adventure about famous people throughout history - from the Bible to Superman. What entertainment! I am going out to look for my two right now.

5 out of 5 stars A life chaging book!.......2007-02-02

Three in Love is an excellent book. If you are looking for instructions on how to do a threesome forget it this is not the book. This book is a piece of research and will forcedly make go into a deep retrospection of all you life's ménages. For me and by accident was the answer for many questions that I had on a past relation that sadly went very sour but not enough to be a bloody triangle. Thanks to my maturity.

In the book you will discover the differences between a love triangle, a blood triangle and a ménage á trois. Also, you will discover the power of love in the service of mankind. Some of the stories went sour other went like a tale. In some of the ménages there was devastation because the members were insane, teaching us that a healthy relation is directly interconnected with the mental health of the persons inside it. Also the book teaches us a lot about the importance of the human qualities in a relation.

A ménage á trois is an exposé of the good and the bad of the relation. It is not a one sided book pro ménages without a very and extremely and deep perspective that shows all types of ménages (heterosexual, bisexual, lesbian and [..]). At the end of the book I discovered why mine did not work. People involved in a ménage á trois, quatre or even cinq have to have very special qualities of honesty, respect, admiration and love among many other qualities seldom encounter in one single individual. What about in three?

Three in love is the maximum expression of love. It is the alternative to a divorce and the destruction of the family. It is the alternative to safe and real sex for the sex starved marriage. It is the alternative to the financial destruction that a divorce causes an individual. It is a real act of love; it teaches you that you do not have to abandon your life long partner for you to be happy. It is an act of honesty and a reaffirmation of love and commitment of the individual.

After reading this book my respect about ménagers have increased because I see them as courageous people willing to live as they want and not conforming with the hypocrisy of societal mores.

This is simply a 100 star book on a subject that no one dares to touch!

2 out of 5 stars Hopeful but disappointed..........2006-06-04

This book is only haphazardly a history of the ménage à trois and very rarely about three in love. Unfortunately, it isn't at all what the poorly understood realm of ménage sociology needs. At its best, "Three in Love" details a few threesomes--many of them notably centered on two men and a woman--who might have truly been threesomes but who nonetheless invariably seem to disintegrate in tragedy. At its worst, "Three in Love" gives us some of the bleakest examples of relationship behavior: fickleness, inconstancy, jealousy, betrayal, et cetera. Three in love should be just that: three in love (not three in manipulation, or three in betrayal, or three in scornfulness). Where are the examples of warm triads? Of real people trying to make it work, failing and succeeding in their own ways? Three can be such a beautiful number. There is a noteworthy minority of ménages out here in the world, and certainly the subject matter is difficult to place under scrutiny, but hasn't anyone with guts, integrity, consistency, and some scientific acumen shined any light on the potential beauty of the ménage? Such a work might be out there somewhere, but this one isn't it. If you read it, read it knowing that you'll be reading very little about love.

2 out of 5 stars I'd enjoy reading their next book.......2006-04-19

If you took 3 alternative academics, mixed in poor research gathering, & an overdose of an Attention Deficit Disorder inducing drug - this is a book you might end up with.

Before you think that I'm jaded against the subject matter, let me say I usually only review books that I encourage people to read & consider. But I make an exception here because I do genuinely care about the subject matter. And I wanted this book to be something completely different than it turned out to be.

I would really enjoy reading a book about the close familial difficulties, trials, and successes of multi-partner relationships, but this book ain't that. If you're looking for a book to give some uncommon perspective on people who succeed in this lifestyle; unfortunately, this isn't it.

The authors have actually been in a long term menage a trois where they have different kinds of love for each other. I've listened to a couple interviews of the 3 authors, and they speak in similar patterns to how they write: faster than normal, a little anxious, and never very long on one topic. Reading this book is kind of like watching TV with a eleven year old boy who keeps changing channels every 2 minutes.

But enough criticism. I write this review to encourage the authors (or different authors) to write a book with fewer, but more relaxed and extensive narratives on the complexities, politics, and balancing involved in real triad relationships.

Buy, borrow, or bypass? Unfortunately, bypass.
