Book Description

Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.

Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.

5 out of 5 stars Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09

There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.

For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.

It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.

4 out of 5 stars History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10

Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.

I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.

Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.

Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.

I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.

This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.

I really enjoyed this book! It was different from the other fantasy/romance books. Loved the ending!

5 out of 5 stars Different is always good!!.......2007-07-21

I kept debating whether or not to get it but I am glad that I did. I loved the story. It was well written and loved the characters. I felt like I was in the world with them. I cant wait to read the second book.

3 out of 5 stars Very Enjoyable!.......2007-04-24

This book was much better than I expected it to be. A fine blending of modern, medieval, & mystic elements. The plot moved along very well and I found the ending to be very sweet and unexpected. I have wondered, though, as to why the mermaid on the cover has a pinkish/orangish tail when the heroine's tail is described as a beautiful blueish color. Oh well...If you'd like to read more mermaid novels, I recommend The Last Mermaid by Shana Abe, The Mermaid's Song by Marianne Willman, Sleeping with the Fishes (Fred the Mermaid, Book 1) (Paranormal) by Mary Janice Dickinson. You may also enjoy The Tower at Stony Wood by Patricia McKillip, which has mermaid-like people in it; and another book, The Changeling Sea (Firebird) by the same auther.

4 out of 5 stars Magic in the Water.......2007-02-19

I picked up this book bcause I love water stories, Mermaids, Selkies that kind of thing, this really delivers in the magic department. First of all CC is a very real woman silly and open hearted, the conversation with the telephone was very funny. And I had to respect a lady that could down to bottles of the bubbley stuff and an entire bucket of KFC then go dancing in the rain in the middle of the night, on a slick balcony and not kill herself.

I loved the descriptions of the undersea world and the differnt colors of the mertails. Gaea was wonderful she's been my favorite Godddess of Cast's so far, Stong, warm, loving, and present. Not at all untouchable. My most favorite characters were Isabel and the other ladies despite their hardships an disfigurments, they were in no way tragic or sour. Sapedon is just uber-crazy, Dylan is a hair away from being to to perfect, and the Abbot, what a twist. I liked goddess of the sea, was that CC never lost herself, even though she was wearing Undines body. also she never doubted that the seemingly impossible was possible. Another plus was that Goddess of the sea was romantic without being overly erotic, which I found refreshing. All in all a great read. Pick it up, and get a little magic in your life:)

4 out of 5 stars Sooo much better than "Goddess of Spring" A really good read!.......2006-09-27

I read another book by this author called "Goddess of Spring" and was not impressed at all. It was an extremely typical romance novel, with a typical plot and a typical ending. Had I not purchased this novel at the same time as that one I probably would have never read anything else by this author. As it is, I'm glad that I bought this book three month ago, because even though it is a romance novel, it is quite good.

CC is inexperienced with romance, but an extremely competent air force officer. On a flight to her new station in Saudi Arabia her plane crashes, and CC is pulled under by the wreckage of the plane. Fortunately, a plea she made to the goddess to have more magic in her saves her in the guise of a mermaid who switches bodies with her.

But being a mermaid isn't easy-especially since CC has also been sent to the year 1014. Her half-mermaid brother is bent on raping her, and the goddess Gaia can only protect her if she is on land. But as her body craves the sea-CC has a problem. Throw in a quest for true love, a sexy brooding mermaid and a knight in not so shining armor, and you have the book.

A lot of thing about this book irritated me. Mythological mistakes, language problems... But so what-this was fun to read, actually romantic, and a truly enjoyable novel. I can recommend it if you like fantasy and can put up with some typical romance novel style fluff.

Four stars. Maybe I will try another by this author. It may be worth it if more of her books are like this.

There aren't many books about Yeye Yemoja but this is a very good book to have because of the number of ese / pataki (stories) pertaining to this Great Orisa and her relationships with the other Orisa. If you are familiar with the attributes of Yemoja then you'll enjoy reading how she interacts with other Orisa, and her sense of problem solving found in a few of these stories. Initiates & seasoned practitioners will quickly notice within these stories the source of some of the taboos and practices associated not only with Yemoja but other Orisa as well. I hope these authors produce more good works on the Mother of Fishes Yeye mi Yemoja.

    ...until I hold my breath.

A century ago Samuel Butler built a case that "The Odyssey" was written by a woman in Sicily. George Bernard Shaw listened to one of Butler's lectures and became convinced. Robert Graves, author of "I, Claudius" was sufficiently intrigued that he later wrote a novel with Butler's claims as the basis. Whether true or not, it's generally agreed that "The Iliad" had a different, earlier author.

However, the gyst of this book is that the story of Odysseus was borrowed by the Greeks from the British Isles, and that when restored to what is in Nyland's opinion their correct context, 1000 years is added to Scottish and Irish history. In a way, Nyland follows a number of others before him, such as whoever claimed that someone named Brutus fled Troy and founded Britain, or Vergil who composed "The Aeneid" to create a mythic past for Rome, or even those who sinisterly claim that somehow the Europeans are the real Jews and the modern Jews imposters, or Martin Bernal who claims all kinds of things.

Following an historian named Edward Furlong, Nyland finds the supposed British roots to placenames and other words in the Odyssey. He also links the ancient Ogam inscriptions of the Celts (a writing system that is quite pre-Roman, not "early Christian" as Nyland states, and found throughout western Europe at the very least) with Basque. He assures us that the tale has been "dreadfully distorted and added to", which is something I'd apply to Nyland's book.

It's still worth reading, because of the actual historical details he includes, and entertaining because of his unsubstantiated leaps. Go ahead, give it a try.

Nyland used to have a website only. The website was still up last I checked, complete with the warning that he isn't "Dr. Edo Nyland, professor emeritus of geo-physics at the University of Alberta".

      Book Description

Sedna: Goddess of the Sea is an explanatory tale; a unique synthesis of two variations of the ancient Inuit legend of how sea animals came to be. Sedna was a beautiful young woman and many young men asked to marry her, but she rejected every one. Sedna's wicked uncle convinces her father that she must marry the next suitor, but when she rejected him as well, her uncle left Sedna and her dog on an island. Sedna returned for revenge after the uncle killed the dog, but then a spirit bird lured Sedna away. When her father arrived to save her, the angry spirit bird caused the sea to boil and Ootuk throws Sedna overboard. When she tries to climb back into the kayak, he stabs her hands. From her blood, according to legend, come the warm blooded animals of the sea, who will feed the hungry Eskimos for all time. The 64 pages book contains 30 symbolic and realistic black and white illustrations with visual elements of the Inuit culture. Following the text are three explanatory notes about Sedna in a broader popular culture context. There is also a resource bibliography, a pronunciation guide, and a short vocabulary list for young readers.

5 out of 5 stars Herberger Builds on "Thread" in "The Riddle of the Sphinx".......2006-08-23

Here is a word about Herberger's 1979 follow-up work "The Riddle of the Sphinx: Calendric Symbolism in Myth and Icon" (NY: Vantage Press---Standard Book Number 533-03500-7; still available for ex. at ABE). Like "Thread of Ariadne," this book teaches more "directly" from the ancient Cretans than any other. Herberger builds upon his carefully-documented discovery that the Minoan "Bull Leaper" Fresco displays the ancient Cretans' lunar/solar calendar, harmonizing human life with the "dance" of moon and sun, and the cycles of nature. In the process, from understanding the Minoans' prime symbol Labrys or the Double Axe, we gain an important tool for further analysis in multiple fields. In "Sphinx" Herberger broadens and deepens his understandings of Crete, and then applies his finds to further historical, cultural, literary and ultimately spiritual problems; and, most often his broadly-informed analyses show us the tremendous legacy that in fact underlies (literally) layer after layer of the "nightmare" of Western history and spiritual bankruptcy. What is the Minoan Labrys doing on the vestments of the Catholic Mass, how was it "borrowed in disguise" multiple times, what has it meant to people? How is it related to (for ex.) the "sacred secular space" of today's international Olympic Games, in which competition is only part of a larger sense of relationship? If we perish without ever recovering our fact-based, harmonious heritage we have no one to blame but ourselves for not embracing it. Make "Thread" and "Sphinx" your first guide to the labyrinth of early Western studies. Comprehensive, rigorous, packed with soul food. A priceless social and spiritual heritage for the must-read shelf of every school and library.

5 out of 5 stars The Most Important Discovery Yet About Ancient "Minoan" Crete.......2006-08-17

A calendar is a society's daily diagram: it reckons cosmic cycles of nature, and reveals what its people hold sacred. This book teaches more "directly" from the ancient Cretans than any other. Dr. Charles F. Herberger (Professor-Emeritus, Nasson College, Maine) rigorously demonstrates that the famous "Bull-Leaper Fresco" from The Labyrinth of Cnossos is a special work of art at the foundations of Western civilization. In short careful chapters ranging from myth to ecology, Herberger reveals a consistent, complex, elegant calendar of a year mathematically measured in cycles of moon and sun. The rectangular border of this fresco displays lunar phases and "tracks" that represent days of the solar year. Compute with them as Herberger shows, and eight circuits of this counting-border produce a "Great Year," whose ninth year perfectly matches the Winter Solstice/New Moon and Summer Solstice/Full Moon (signifying birth and death or renewal of "King Minos")---harmonizing human life with the "dance" of moon and sun, and the cycles of nature. Imagine that: a "king" with sociopolitical limitations, a leader of rituals other than war. Notably, as the eight years pass, the calendar allows for leap days, differences in cycles, multiple festivals and anomalies. Like a maze, it ends where it began (and vice-versa). The years also trace the shape of Crete's prime symbol, the labrys or double-axe, within the rectangle, and we understand it as never before. As an historian who has studied, published and lectured on Minoan Crete for 26 years, I have no doubt that Herberger's clear, specific, reasonable analysis (including plentiful illustrations, charts etc.) rings true across the whole of Cretan evidences. We see for ourselves that this fresco articulates and expresses the soul of Minoan Crete---its unmatched, attentive delight in nature, and its fierce devotion to the sacred-celebratory dance of male and female as complementary equals. (No wonder Crete was the longest continuous period of Western development on record: Herberger reveals their goal was harmony.) I know his related works including "Riddle of The Sphynx" in detail. Make these your first guide to the labyrinth of studies. Comprehensive, rigorous, packed with Western culture's most deeply-spiritual and positive legacies: pure soul food. A priceless social and spiritual heritage for the must-read shelf of every school and library.
