Dear Reader,
If you like hot men, hot action and hot attraction you’re going to love this
HOT new series!
HOT STUFF introduces Cate Madigan, a Boston native from a large and crazy Irish family. Cate has far too much going on to get involved in extracurricular activities, like men and marriage. She spends all day in school, earning her teaching degree, and all night working as a bartender in Boston’s South End. Ex-cop Kellen McBride has decided to make Cate’s bar his nightly haunt. He likes Cate’s sassy Irish spirit and wild red hair. He also has an ulterior motive for getting close to her. Cate has sworn off all things romantic, but when she comes home to a ransacked apartment, a roommate who has flown the coop, and a sleeping bullmastiff named Beast, Cate has no choice but to ask Kellen for help. Can Kate resist the charming Kellen McBride while keeping herself out of danger? Or will Kellen turn up the heat on Cate and everything in her life?
We know you’ll have a blast with
HOT STUFF!

Hot Stuff .......2007-09-02
Cate Madigan is going to school to be a teacher. She works nights in a
bar and keeps her distance from the male customers until Kellen
McBride walks in one night. Kellen is persistent though. His
persistence pays off when Cate actually needs him. Cate is trying to
deter a guy named Pugg who desperately wants to be her boyfriend.
She's also trying to get her family to stop setting her up with the
wrong guys. When her roommate Marty appears to be involved in
something shady and bad guys start knocking on their condo door, Cate
decides that having Kellen around is not a bad thing, especially since
he's an ex cop. The fact that he's really hot isn't a bad thing either!
Hot Stuff is funny, suspenseful and romantic. I loved it! Kellen is
sexy and charming and Cate is a sweetheart. Cate's family and friends
are a blast as well. I read Hot Stuff while relaxing on the beach and
it made a great day that much better!

Quick read.......2007-08-31
I love reading the books by Janet Evanovich and listening to her books on tape while traveling. Her books are fun and an easy read.....good for the beach.
Easy and fun read.......2007-08-06
To be honest I do not like any of the pre-Plum books (being re-released) or her co-authored books with Charlotte Hughes so I was prepared not to like Hot Stuff. I'm glad I read it. It was a bit cheesy, which is to be expected, and the main theft plot was farfetched...however... I still enjoyed it. It's an easy and fun read. The characters were well rounded and easy to like and they seemed to have great chemistry right off the bat.
Never disapoints!.......2007-08-01
If you enjoy reading one of Janet's books, then you will enjoy them all because they are very similar and very amusing and well written. The characters become your friends.
Three stars PLUS.......2007-07-12
The syle is definitly Evanovice. The charators new and fun. As with most of her books I never put this book down for to long.
Still not one of her best, but a must read if you love Evanovich.

Book Description
This book offers a unique approach to one of the most pressing problems of our time. Child psychologist, Dr. Jerry Wilde, speaks directly to children and adolescents in a language they can easily understand. Hot Stuff to Help Kids Chill Out is an empowering book designed to encourage today's youth to manage their anger rather than be controlled by it.

Although Amazon.com lists this 58 page book as for young adults, young children have appreciated having this book read to them. The title is a good example of the style used by this a child psychologist as he speaks to children and teens. With children and teens or young adults, I suggest reading and discussing it together. There are some pointers for older adults as well.

Hot Stuff is Hot Stuff.......2005-11-23
What a wonderful book. I read the reviews here before purchasing and my only reservation was with the "sarcastic" humor in the book. Actually, it is the humor that makes this book work. It was the bait that got my son hooked on the book.
I bought this for my 8 year-old son. He started to read it immediately. The book is a book and a workbook where you do some introspection. When he saw there were places to write down his responses, he ran and got a pencil. The first day he (we) spent nearly an hour reading and answering questions before we told him he needed to put it down and go to bed.
The book does a good job of validating the feelings that a child (actually all of us) has and gives great ways to deal with those responses. If you have ever encouraged your child to say "gooz fah bah" (from Anger Management the movie), then this is the book for you.
I Wanted To Like This More, But...........2004-09-01
This book was difficult to use with elementary age children, especially those who are K-4th grade. Some of the sarchastic humor and tongue-in-cheek humor was very tough for younger children and/or kids with lower intellectual functioning. When I tried to use this several times with kids; the concepts did not engage them and seemed to go above their heads. I would also like this book more if it was sectioned off in short activities and lessons.
Although I do not have any teenage clients at this time; I imagine that this book would work very well with adolescents. I will continue to try and use this book, however. It may just be my current caseload that is not responding....
Needs some modifications!.......2004-07-13
I bought this book for two preteen boys I provide skill/therapy sessions with. It was hard for them to understand some of the sarcastic humor in the book - however if this had been left out it would have been a great book for them. Ideal for a parent, or professional to spark conversation with children.

Excellent Resource!!.......2006-07-08
I've used this book with both elementary and middle school students for years and it's a great tool for getting through to kids with anger problems. It has spaces for students to record their own responses and they like being able to do that. I've also noticed that students who normally "wouldn't be caught dead" reading a book seem to enjoy this book. The author uses humor throughout the book in an apparent to win over those kids. It works!
Very, very helpful.......2005-12-29
My daughter (age 11) had been having some severe difficulties with anger so I decided to buy this book. Wow! She has made huge progress after we read this book by Jerry Wilde. It's filled with great insights and exercises we completed together. I can't say enough nice things about this book.
Not a good book.......2005-10-10
this book is totally innappropriate for elementary children. It seems to only address anger issues, not stress issues. Not every child gets angry when they are stressed. Some are sad, nervous, or scared. A waste of my money. It is a workbook for a middle school or high school student to do on their own.
An excellent book for kids with anger problems!.......2004-08-18
If you like Dr. Wilde's book "Hot Stuff to Help Kids Chill Out," you'll love this book. I actually think this one might even be better than the first one because it contains information about stress management for children and adolescents. This book contains many helpful activities that demonstrate to kids that they have the ability to change their thoughts and change their feelings. This is an excellent book for parents and therapists alike!

Could have been better.......2007-03-28
Annabelle is a busy publicist whose firm is run by her and her family(2 younger sisters and her uncle).
Vaughn is a retired football star who is building his dream: to create a resort for children with disabilities; and is Annabelle's job for the time being. Only no matter how hard he tries to make his plans work, someone keeps making attempts to sabatage it. Annabelle is sent to this little town with Vaughn to see about spreading good vibes about the place(on TV, as is her special) even though strange things are happening to stop the building from being complete. And as the days wear on, and Annabelle meets Vaughn's friends and family, she starts to get a better idea of where Vaughn is coming from and her feelings become too much for her, so she makes a decision that only jumps the plot in deeper and more interesting.
This book's plot reminded me too much of Kat Martin's 'Midnight Sun', and it started getting predictible, but was still good enough to hold my attention and see what happened with all the other characters. And it definitely got me a little excited for 'Hot Number'.
HOT STUFF SIZZLED!!!!.......2006-10-04
Picked this up in the office exchange for a business trip to Denver. What a fine little book to end summer with!!!
The trilogy I understand begins with the oldest sister, Annabelle and her prime target, Brandon Vaughn. It was a fun read from beginning to end. I liked the family 'situation' and applaud Uncle Yank for rising to the occastion of inheriting 3 nieces.
The sisters stick together like glue and I suppose this is why this is the beginning of the trilogy. Brandon makes a great hero! Family baggage and all. It's a feel good book. Looking forward to reading the next two. The author keeps us dangling with Uncle Yank's angst! :D:D:
Another plane ride conquered!!!!
The first try, not the best, not the worst.......2006-07-19
This is the first book I,ve read of this author and it didn,t inspire me to read the other ones of the trilogy. Maybe I was expecting more of the plot or something, but the truth is none of the plot exited me very much. I like to read books that are hard for me to put down. The characters weren,t very interesting for me.But if you like an easy read and a happy ever after ending, this is not the worst book you could read.
A Hot and Fun Read.......2006-06-26
THE FIRST BOOK in her "Hot Zone" trilogy, Carly Phillips introduces us to the three Jordan sisters, Annabelle, Sophie and Micki. These three young women work for their uncle Yank Morgan's sports agency/PR firm, The Hot Zone, as publicists.
This story revolves around Annabelle, the oldest of the sisters and Brandon Vaughn, an ex-football legend in need of good PR. By asking for Yank's help, Vaughn gets stuck with the one publicist of the three Jordan sisters that he didn't want to work with: Annabelle.
But as it turns out, working together isn't the problem; it's the staying away from each other and off each other that's hard. But after a nasty breakup, Annabelle is determined not to get involved with anyone in a long-term relationship. And Vaughn's main goal is to make his dream of remodeling his lodge to help out children during the summer come true.
Combine together, the two make an exceptional pair--if only they would admit that to themselves.
Altogether, this is a sizzling introduction to the Jordan women, their PR business, their sports, their family and love lives, and of course, their hot men.
"Hot Stuff".......2006-02-02
I LOVE Carly Phillips, and "Hot Stuff" certianly delivers. It has all of the elements of a great contemporary romance. "Hot Stuff" is a smart, sexy read, with engaging characters that you truly care about (including the background characters). Love the fact that there's a bit of intrigue in this one as well (for the mystery lover in all of us). Looking forward to reading about ALL of the strong, yet quirky, Jordan women! Don't forget to pick up a copy of "Hot Number"!

Interesting and entertaining.......2007-06-06
This book was received in good shape and fairly quickly, too. Thanks, we needed it fast!
The book was very informative and written in an interesting way.
An informed and in-depth study of hydrogen that can be easily grasped by the non-scientist with an interest in this subject.......2006-04-10
Very written and directly accessible to the non-specialist general reader, Hydrogen: Hot Stuff, Cool Science by Rex A. Ewing offers an informed and in-depth study of hydrogen that can be easily grasped by the non-scientist with an interest in this subject. Hydrogen introduces the reader to the every aspect of the manifold uses of hydrogen, what the chemical really is, where hydrogen comes from, and how it works as a fuel. Ewing presents a remarkable reference for anybody without much scientific background with a true interest in hydrogen and all of the extensive and innovative uses for it. Also very highly recommended reading from Pixy Jack Press is Rex Ewing's "Got Sun? Go Solar: Get Free Renewable Energy To Power Your Grid-Tied Home (0965809870, $18.95) which he co-authored with Doug Pratt.
Hydrogen: Hot Stuff Cool Science, is a hot book about cool stuff to learn.......2005-12-17
I highly recommend this book to those who wants to know more about the potential of hydrogen as a replacement for fossil fuels. You will discover hydrogen is an inexpensive solution which is environmentally clean and the technology exists today. The author weaves the technical information into a fictional tale which makes reading and learning a pleasure. The book is perfect for young readers as the author Rex Ewing keeps the readers attention with his interesting characters, Zedediah Pickett, author Rex and his horse Mike. An interesting tale interlaced with scientific facts. A bit light for the reader who has a good knowledge of hydrogen, fuel cells, etc. it's still a good refresher covering the basics and fun read. You'll get a glimpse of what the future holds if we have the courage to make it happen and the result if we take no action. It does a great job of making the reader pause to think about the issues. It makes the point that we are running out of fossil fuels, they contribute to greenhouse gases, and other pollutants. It touches on the main points: how hydrogen can be generated, stored/transported safely and converted into useful energy for electricity, fuel for cars, heating homes and many other applications. If there was one complaint the book only mentions fusion technology in passing. Perhaps this will be discussed in a sequel? Regardless it is an excellent and quick read; I've purchased this as a gift for several family members and friends. I wish everyone could get a copy as this is an issue we all need to be aware of and pressing our politicians and legislators for the emergence of the hydrogen age. I tip my hat to Rex A. Ewing on a job well done, buy this book!
If you still have your spirit of adventure.......2004-12-13
Do you know someone who thinks that science and engineering are boring subjects? Or someone who believes we can afford to ignore global warming and the upcoming end of the age of oil? Invite them to read this charming book by Rex Ewing. The author takes his readers to the imaginary Wasserstoff Farm to meet a wizard named Zed who is a master of subjects that too many people choose to ignore. We learn how fuels are transformed into energy, the various ways of producing hydrogen gas, and how this element may someday replace fossil fuels in providing the energy we depend upon.
High school teachers will find this playful book a useful supplement to the conventional chemistry textbook. It will appeal to readers of any age who have not lost their imagination or spirit of adventure. I also recommend it to the journalists, economists and political leaders of our age in hopes that they will get the science correct when they speak of the most serious technical problem of our time.
Very Enjoyable Read and Super Resource.......2004-12-08
HYDROGEN - Hot Stuff, Cool Science is a clever, innovative meld of "Harry Potter makes Contact with the Hydrogen Wizard and together they travel Back to the Future." At least, those are the images I saw while reading. Science teachers will love "technistoff," the technical notes and references following each chapter. Armed with these, teachers can enrich their own knowledge and understanding of some incredible new technologies of hydrogen generation, storage, and delivery, as well as visiting some very instructive web sites with their students.
A Colorado science educator for the past 39 years, I have been continuously dismayed about how little society understands about our current and worsening global energy predicament. Now, more than ever, humanity needs to "invest" immediately in Wasserstoff Farm's renewable energy programs. HYDROGEN - Hot Stuff, Cool Science is at once a very enjoyable read and super resource for teachers, as well as for the lay public, who are looking for ways to sort out the basics of hydrogen science.

Love Is for Losers
Or so Laurel Kane believes. After wasting too many years looking for "the One," the attractive, level-headed journalist for the Washington tabloid DC Scene is convinced that mad, passionate, crazy love is an impossibility past thirty. A practical, sensible system's the only way to choose a spouse. And she's willing to argue her theory with anyone -- including the criminally gorgeous coffee guy, Joe, who supplies her with her daily caffeine fix.
It turns out Joe has strong opinions of his own on the subject, and Laurel figures her readers might enjoy sharing their fiery exchanges of ideas. But once the coffee cart debates become the hottest thing in print, Laurel finds herself in hot water -- because sexy Joe is suddenly determined to prove to her that head-spinning, knees-weakening love is possible. And in this particular battle of the sexes, the loser might actually win . . . if she ends up losing her heart!
Customer Reviews:
Could see this one on the big screen!!.......2006-12-23
Very well written, fast-moving, intelligent dialogue among the main characters. Very likable heroine (at times, though, I could have wrung her neck for not seeing what she had in Joe fast enough -- but that's just me); a totally "fall-in-love instantly" type of hero!! If this were made into a movie, I could easily see Simon Baker as "Joe." He has dreamy eyes and a drop dead gorgeous smile -- just like Joe. Good book, fast read. I only gave it 4 stars though because I would have liked to have read more on their "happily ever after..." Didn't want it to end!! :-(
Drink Coffee.......2006-09-04
This is the second book I've read by Elaine Fox. Thank god it wasn't my first; I don't know that I could have been persuaded to give her another try otherwise.
While the writing was good, and the characters likeable and well-developed, I found this a slow read. I almost felt like I was forcing myself to finish towards the end.
I felt like the story didn't really move and the characters were stuck. They kept doing the same thing repeatedly. Like Laurel trying to convince herself and Joe that love is not the answer to a long lasting relationship. I never understood why she felt this way, aside from a book she read that made the suggestion.
I also never felt a lot of chemistry between Joe and Laurel. They seemed more like best friends than hot and passionate lovers. I would recommend this book if you're a fan of Elaine Fox and want to read all of her work. However you could probably skip this one and be fine.
A cute, feel-good romance.......2006-08-02
A fun story about a jaded woman who has very cynical and hardened ideas about love and marriage, and the romantic man who sets out to soften her outlook and open her heart. Joe is a wonderful character - I could fall head-over-heals in love with him myself! I appreciated the gentle way he led Laurel to view love in a different light and come to her own conclusions, rather than force his ideals onto her. The dialogue was snappy and entertaining. The only reason I didn't give it a higher rating is that the story could have been faster paced and told in 50-75 less pages.
Fun snappy romance.......2006-03-20
I found this romance to be fun, fast paced and made me laugh. The premise is that Laurel has decided after way too many failed romances that she is not going to marry for love and in fact the best idea is for her to "arrange" her own marriage. This premise is cemented in her brain when her boss gives her a book to review that is about the very same subject. (Point)
Joe is a wealthy self made man of coffee shop fame. But, he has gone undercover with a coffee cart to research a new shop location. He is immediately drawn to Laurel. Joe is definitely a believer of love before marriage. (Counterpoint)
Laurel decided to use her and Joe's opinions for her article (to prove she is right) which throws them together in different situations to see how each opinion will play out.
Fun story that also looks at speed dating in a humorous way. If you want a light fun romance to read, this is a good one.
It was just okay.......2004-05-23
I read the back cover while browsing at a local bookstore. I ended up checking it out from the library a week later. It sounded funny and it was an added bonus that it took place in DC. It was just ok... at times I found my mind wandering and had to re-read pages. I wouldn't say not to read it, but if there's another book that you're anxiously waiting to read, I would suggest you read that book first.

A good start for firefighting collector's.......2001-04-01
I recently started collecting antique firefighting equipment which goes along with my career as a firefighter. As a beginner it is difficult to get an idea of how much these collectibles are worth. I was recently in an antique mall in Nebraska when I ran across Andrew Gurka's book which I am currently writing this review on. As I was browsing the pages of his book I realized I had just looked at several items which were very similar to some pictures in the book and I also noticed that the prices were very reasonable compared to the suggested values in the book. Needless to say, I purchased the items and the book which I refer to every time I search for a new item. It is filled with a variety of items from A-Z and lists suggested values for the items which you can use as a comparison for the items you are interested in. The prices shown in the book are from 1996 so you should keep that in mind when you are looking at collectibles. This is definately the book for the beginning collector.

Laughs, adventure, romance with a questionable rogue, a delightful story that is thoroughly unique. I could totally see the entire book as a cinematic feast! The best of Bollywood and Hollywood. Read it, you won't regret it!
Funny!.......2005-12-26
I loved this book--one of the funniest I've ever read. There were times I wasn't sure about character motivation(Why, exactly, did she dance at that club?) but it didn't matter because I was just there for the fast and very amusing ride. And I loved the hero!
a dead-bang funny book!.......2005-05-07
A delightful book I am very happy to recommend coming from Flo Fitzpatrick. This one amazing tale from start to finish that will leave you clamoring from more from this new writer.
Tempe Walsh is a translator. She has a job with client Ray Decore. Sounds simple enough. She is to translate from Hindi to English and back again as needed as part of a deal with Kimali Khan, brokering a sale for a stature. Tempe might raise eyebrows at the setting - Hot Harry's Bar in Bombay, but hey, a girl has to live a little! Only trouble ensures when Tempe spots the statue is a fake. Suddenly all hell breaks loose, resulting in her client getting killed. Instead of standing and screaming, our intrepid heroine uses her lithe bod and her trusty earrings to escape, taking one "Strider" O'Brian (this is the third book I have reviewed this month with "Strider" heroes, glut from LOTR!), with everyone chasing in their wake.
This is one delightfully wild, tongue-firmly-through-cheek tales that takes off and never lets up from start to finish. It's seasoned with a wickedly funny sense of humor, that has a touch of movie adoration tossed in. It is madcap comedy reminiscent of Hollywood romps of the 40s. A great aim, but can the writer pull it off? Yeppers, big time! Hot Stuff is absolutely dead bang on target from the homage to films past to romance lovers at heart and those of us who enjoy a good belly laugh along the way.
An adventure of a lifetime.......2005-04-03
Hot Stuff is an adventure of a lifetime. Tempe Walsh, is an interpreter with a secret dream of being an actress. The hero is one Briggan "Brig" O'Brien who seems to be a man with a shady past. The two them are thrown together by the Shiva's Diva statue that everyone wants and they have.
Brig and Tempe are shot at, have knives thrown at them, as they dodge the bad guys while also doing flips and somersaults. When they are not avoiding weapons, they are working on a movie directed by one of Brig's friends. In the movie they are dancing, doing flips and somersaults on top of Ferris wheels and other things I wouldn't do. It seems they are on the move all the time.
Flo Fitzpatrick has a great talent for telling a story. It kept me entertained and held my attention. I loved this story, and if you enjoy adventure with some comedy thrown in it is a story you would like also I am sure.

Book Description
You either love it or hate it.But one thing's for sure: rumors of its death are premature. This fast paced yet in-depth look at one of the most outrageous eras in musical -- and cultural -- history discusses the fashion and the freaks, the music-makers and the celebrators, to uncover why disco was so revered and reviled. In its early days, disco was dismissed by the public as producers' music made by studio musicians. But this amalgam of African-American rhythm and blues, soul, and funk soon caught fire, bringing together gay and straight, black and white, young and old in a way no other popular music has before or since -- a phenomenon that is still reverberating through the culture.
As it takes you from the history of dance halls to the rise of impossible-to-get-into clubs; from the reigning queens (Gloria Gaynor, Grace Jones, and Donna Summer among them) to the wanna-bes (including Dolly Parton, Frank Sinatra, and even Ethel Merman!); from the political mayhem of the Vietnam era to the party-all-night eighties, Hot Stuff will make you want to dust off those platform shoes, dig out your mirrored ball, and shake your booty all night long.

good but not great.......2003-07-15
For those who did not like this book, there is a better one. The one I would recommend is "Last Night A DJ Saved My Life: The History Of Disc Jockey." Although that book discusses other dance music such as house and techno, it does a better job explaining about disco. That book talks more in-depth details including the Stonewall Inn riot in New York and how the DJ David Mancusso rewrote the rules of the DJ than "Hot Stuff" did. Also, "Last..." wrote more details about the early disco clubs and what those clubs did that laid the foundation of the late '70s disco mainstream than "Hot Stuff" did.
If you don't like either book, then the liner notes of the Disco Box and the Disco Years (vol. 1-7) do a great job although emphasis is on the songs itself and not too much history.
In addition, I feel that "Hot Stuff" should have provided a more exhaustive discography than it did by providing Billboard chart positions and listing rare songs that are hard to find and where to find them. For example, does anyone know if The Ritchie Family "Brazil" album is available on CD? This book could have provided the answer.

Having written an excellent book about AIDS (Victory Deferred), I expected more from John-Manuel Andriote. Instead, Andriote's history of disco is too brief and incomplete. I wanted to read more about the culture of disco, especially as it relates to those of us, like Andriote, grew up gay in the 1970's. Still, any history of disco is better than nothing to this dyed-in-the-wool disco fan and, within its limitations, Hot Stuff is OK.

I did not know that authors were allowed to review their work? I agree that Mr Andriote showed extreme poor taste in posting such a glowing review of his work ... especially when you consider that the book, was a rehashing of everything we have heard before.. nothing new, nothing informative ... and certainly nothing entertaining.. Sorry Mr Andriote you were way off base on this one
What Extremely Bad Taste.......2001-06-25
for the author to write his own (surprise!) five star review below. For that reason alone, this book merits a one star rating. This is only reinforced by an actual perusal of its pages.
Good Retro Fun.......2001-06-13
I certainly enjoyed this brief, fun trip down memory lane. Mr. Andriote successfully evokes the essence of an era in a wonderful, light and fun way. Hot Stuff offers a lucid explanation of the confluence of factors that caused disco music to begin, and then explode into the mainstream. He is at his best when evoking the energy of this era and the "disco scene". As you turn the pages, you too will re-live the era and if only for a brief moment, you will lose 4 inches from your waist, regain the hair you have lost and fit into those bell-bottom jeans one more time. Thank you John-Manuel for the trip down memory lane.
Product Description
Hot Shop is about 25 years of Gene Chapman's blacksmith shop, tooling, fixtures, hot tips and notes, knives, basement collection and products made without a power hammer. Gene says: "Oh yeah, I do have a 50# Little Giant trip hammer, but in the last few years, I have concentrated on projects that are all hand worked and almost no sledge hammer work. I ain't getting any younger and want this old body to last a while forging hot iron. Right under the title "Hot Shop" is the phrase, "Small Potatoes", that's the description of my shop, lines of hand forged house iron, trinkets and other stuff. A one man shop and office; I am the iron pounder, janitor, mail clerk, sometimes writer and publisher. It don't get no more fun than that".
