A manual that teaches you accessible techniques to increase .......2007-08-20
I really enjoyed this book. In fact, I read it back to back! I found this
book to be very helpful after my partner and I broke up. I was on a
recovery to find out why the relationship did not work. Sex and the
perfect lover by Iam gave me very strong points as to what men are looking for and what women need to know about men, to become a perfect
lover. After this book I am sure NOW,either, I'll find my perfect
soulmate.
I never had better sex in my life.......2007-08-20
I received my copy yesterday, and have read it cover to cover. I am right now ordering several copies to give as a gift to my friends. Sex and the perfect lover provides you with techniques and exercises so that you can become a perfect lover. This is one of the best sex guide books that I have ever read. I couldn't put it down. There are hundreds of books like this on the market, but anyone like this. This is real book to help you in your sex life I never had better sex with any partner than after I read this book. I wasn't a bad lover at all, but now we are feeling really great! I can't imagine any man not being overly pleased and excited to find this book under your pillow! Every woman and man should own a copy of this book. The author relates her experiences of the Kama Sutra positions, Prolonged mental and bodily ecstasy easily kindled by lengthy stimulus on the sex organs. I undertand why this book was sold in India cause is The best sex guide and kamasutra book. I would recommend this book for anyone who is seriously interested in pleasing your partner.
Men: trying to learn how to last longer? This is NOT it.......2007-08-11
I hated this book, it was nothing but spiritual mysticism with NO, I mean NOT ONE, useful technique or clearly explained instruction, it's all very vague and if you're looking for sex techniques you can learn and apply this is NOT it.
junk.......2007-08-05
This is one of the worst books I've ever read. THEY DO NOT DELIVER ANYTHING THAT THEY CLAIM!!! I wouldn't pay .25 cents for this book.
Good Ideas.......2007-06-17
This book offers suggestions for different positions that we never tried before. Good for spicing things up. :)

Setting: England, 1835
Sensuality: 8
A wealthy and powerful rake of the English ton, Simon Cynster has known Portia Ashford, equally wealthy and well-educated, since they were children. By sheer chance, he decides it's time to find a wife at the same time that she decides she wants children and must find a husband. Knowing each other so well is both a blessing and a curse, for when it dawns on Simon that he's in love with Portia, he's well aware that she'll feel challenged by his protectiveness and wary of having her independence curtailed. For her part, Portia feels safe exploring her newly awakened sensuality with Simon, but she's not at all sure that he'll make a suitable husband. While they're feeling their way through a minefield of turbulent emotions, they're distracted by several unexplained "accidents," and when a member of the weekend house party they're attending dies, Simon is confronted with the urgent need to keep Portia safe from harm.
Readers who have followed Laurens's tales of the Cynster family will be delighted with this latest novel from the author, for it brings together the "last unmarried male Cynster of his generation" and the lady who was his childhood nemesis. New readers, as well as dedicated fans, will be intrigued by the well-crafted plot, impeccable English setting, and the charming cast of characters. --Lois Faye Dyer
Book Description
Simon Frederick Cynster knows that a perfect bride -- and a perfect lover -- are one and the same. So he sets about finding a mate to suit his needs -- someone who will be a perfect lady by day. . .and a wanton lover by night.
But Simon is not about to broadcast his search to the entire ton and run the risk of every dowager foisting her flighty charges upon him. Instead, he carefully begins his search at a house party at Glossup Hall
and is astonished when willfully independent Portia Ashford immediately captures his interest.
He's known her since childhood and certainly never considered her a potential wife
until an unexpectedly heated kiss changes his mind forever. But as he and Portia begin to explore the depths of their passion, a shocking event occurs
one that puts Portia in deadly peril, and that will require Simon to use his considerable strength and influence to protect his once and always perfect lover.

One of my Favorite Books........2007-08-09
I loved this story so much I went out and bought it in hardback. I keep on rereading this story and still find the characters interesting
Have fun plodding through...........2007-07-18
This was a very boring read with too much internal dialogue and introspection for what the situation was.
He wanted a wife, and she wanted to have babies and also learn about sex. And they were at a house party. Ho hum.
I did not think the sex scenes steamy in any way.
Anyway, just my 2 cents.
Enjoyable.......2007-03-08
This was the first Stephanie Laurens book I ever read and I loved it. As always wonderful murder-mystery subplot in a steamy hot romance.
Almost Perfect!.......2006-12-20
London-historical
It's not the best book in the Cynster Series, but it's pretty good. Simon and Portia are strong characters with the same story of trying to make a strong and loving match.
Worth reading!
My favorite.......2006-08-09
It may be a little late, but I needed to put in my two cents. I like the mystery and suspense in this novel. It's not meant to be P.D. James. I like the romance and what the hero and heroine discover about themselves. Contrary to some readers beliefs, some of us like to think or write about ourselves when we are wrestling with new thoughts and emotions, as Ms. Laurens' characters do. Reviewers, please don't whine about her work. If you don't like it, don't read it or send the author your valid opinions.
Now as to the sex and love scenes, dear readers. For those of you who do not like them, skip them. No one is forcing you to read those scenes. Or could you be jealous that your relationship is not as tender or as passionate as that of the hero or heroine? Romance heroines and their heroes are unconventional. Otherwise their stories would be quite boring.
Enjoy Ms. Laurens' work or move on.

Good, but needs updated.......2007-01-14
I cannot believe I thought Folger's was good coffee for so many years. (Of course, it is made from 100% coffee.) If you're ready to enjoy a really good cup of coffee, The Perfect Cup is a good introduction to escaping from Maxwell House. I especially liked Mr Castle treating coffee like a crop, and discussing the variations in flavor that occur from variations in growing locations. I was prepared to dislike the 60 pages of interviews he had with the specialty coffee roasters, but found them to be informative (and occasionally quite entertaining).
The book desperately needs a second edition. This book was written as a general introduction to specialty coffee, and it probably still fits that niche. Specialty coffee has become even more popular than it was 15 years ago, though, and I believe coffee fans/addicts now know more about their beans and an expanded discussion would be merited. The Internet is an incredible resource for the coffee drinker and needs to be discussed in detail. And you can't ignore the 800-pound gorilla; I may buy my coffee from my local roaster, but Starbucks dominates the market and defines specialty coffee.
All-in-all, I enjoyed this book and it gave me some fresh perspective on my favorite non-alcoholic beverage.
Great for the novice or expert.......2006-07-29
I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn more about that wonderful bean.
This is a good solid book on Coffee.......2003-08-26
I'm a coffee freak. I roast my own espresso and grind it with great care and pump it through a two group computer controlled professional Italian espresso machine. My wife thinks I'm obsessive about it. With that in mind, Perfect Cup provides a lot of excellent information that most people probably don't know, about how to make a great cup of coffee. It also talks about the characteristics of different kinds of coffee. If A&P 8:00 is your cup of tea...coffee, you might not give a damn, but if you really are curious...interested, passionate about coffee, you will probably enjoy reading this book.
Very helpful book.......2002-08-03
I highly recommend this book. I bought it as someone just getting into enjoying the coffee experience. I wanted a book that would help me learn more about brewing coffee, tasting, and what to expect from beans grown in the different areas of the world. It gave me the info. I was looking for. I also really enjoyed the section in which several coffee roasters across the US were interviewed about their roasting philosophies and what to them helped create that elusive perfect cup of coffee.
the perfect coffee book.......2000-12-03
years ago(before Starbucks bought the world) Boston had a local chain called the Coffee Connection. Their blends were perfect, their roasts were done by an old central american master and all of their employees were coffee lovers who could tell you details on any bean (once again, pre starbucks and the "we'll hire anyone" policy). I once asked how they knew so much and was told that employees were required to read this book. Somehow I lost my original copy ... so glad to see Amazon making it available again.

Customer Reviews:
Lovely cookbook!.......2006-02-01
This is a notch up from the usual Chronicle Book publication! I say this because I often find that this publisher puts out cookbooks that are all "beautiful pictures" and very little information. It is clear that the authors worked really hard to deliver good information and content and tips - this book isn't just a vehicle for the photographs. There is lots to read and absorb for each recipe, and the recipes themselves look extremely do-able in one's own humble kitchen. I bought a copy after glancing through it in the bookstore because I know this is definitely a book that I can use (and not just leave around looking pretty). I would say, though, that it functions really well on its own as a dessert cookbook - I'm less interested in the wine pairings - which would interest only those who are sticklers for such things!
great ideas.......2005-11-29
A marriage made in heaven: that of wine and desserts. What a wonderful idea!! The bringing together of two of the world's best offerings (wine and dessert) is a decadent inspiration that Ms Cech and Ms Schacht bring to perfect fruition with mouth watering recipes and superb wine suggestions to accompany them. The book is very friendly even for a novice like me in the art of wine appreciation, and it gives easy to follow recipes. I am up to the challenge of indulging my craving for sweets and wine! I plan to send a book to all my friends and family to create a network where all the recipes will be cooked or baked and later shared and combined with the wine suggestions to improve our palates, delight our spirits while giving us the perfect excuse to get together. I have tested a few of the recipes, and the results have not disappointed. I recommend this book greatly and think at the very least it makes a perfect gift.
55 Great Reasons to Buy this Book, but You Only Need One.......2005-10-27
Worth it for the Chocolate Souffle Roulade alone! But there are 54 other recipes too.
The other reviews already have told you all the logical, rational things you need to know. Now for emotion: fabulous recipes and pairing advice that takes the mystery out of what to do with those little bottles of sweet wine that your friends have taken to bringing as hostess gifts. And it's a really gorgous book besides--the photo of the Raspberry Baked Alaska on page 55 looks for all the world like Marilyn Monroe took the bite and left lipstick all over the meringue. My Christmas shopping is done.
Appetizing.......2005-10-22
Two culinary pleasures come together in this book, "The Wine Lover's Dessert Cookbook" by Mary Cech and Jennie Schacht: dessert and wine! Not only are the recipes delicious but the wine education and suggested pairing make wine selection a breeze!
Mary Cech is an award-winning chef and instructor. She has been a pastry chef at a couple of the more prestigious restaurants, and has taught pastry making at the renowned Culinary Institute of America. Her recipes have been featured in numerous publications including Bon Appetit, Chocolatier, Veggie Life and several cookbooks.
Jennie Schacht is a culinary writer who has worked on several cookbooks. She has her own consultation firm, Scahcht and Associates, which aid clients in the food and health care industry.
This beautifully photographed book is loaded with information on selecting wines dependent on the dessert being served. The recipes are delicious and very inspiring. With Mary Cech's expertize at teaching, the recipes are very clear and easy-to-follow.
Some of the delectable recipes found within this book are Buttermilk Panna Cotta with Fresh Peaches, Tropical Fruit Crèpes, Pumpkin Pots de Crème with Candied Pecans and Lemon Cream Mousse.
For the wine-wary, there is an index of complicated wine terms to help you understand wine and how to select wines based on your food.
With the holidays approaching, this would be a wonderful gift to help celebrate!

Which came first: the chicken or the Eglise-Clinet? Well, if you're a disciple of author Sid Goldstein--and you will be--you've had that Bordeaux decanted long before you even thought of shopping for those Cacciatore ingredients. And "wine-first" cooking is precisely what Goldstein--vice president and director of marketing communications at Mendocino, California's Fetzer Vineyards--so ably demonstrates in The Wine Lover's Cookbook, soon to become indispensable to anyone who has ever chosen the wine first and the groceries second. In 100 easy-to-follow-yet-impressive-as-heck recipes, Goldstein shows you how to exquisitely match the tastes and textures of wine varietals to food. In fact, if you want to find specific recipes, you have to look in the back index; the chapters themselves are divided into grape types! Serving a Chardonnay? Chapter 7's Spinach Fettuccine with Sea Bass and Lemongrass-Coconut Cream Sauce is seamless. Pinot Noir? Coffee-and-Spice-Rubbed Lamb with Coffee-Vanilla Sauce shouldn't work; and yet lamb marinated for hours in mint, pepper, red wine, freshly ground coffee beans, and rosemary, then grilled and sauced with a combination of honey, brewed coffee, shallots and vanilla bean--any one of which elements should have bullied a Russian River Pinot--provides a tightly woven hammock on which the wine can luxuriate.
Chapters discuss the grape variety and list "Base Ingredients"--the main medium of the dish (Game Hen and Rabbit are a couple for Sangiovese)--as well as "Bridge Ingredients"--those connectors of food and wine (Plums, Fennel, and Green Peppercorns among those for Syrah). This "wine-first" regimen is not without pitfalls: it's fine to decide that tonight is Riesling or Pinot night, but if you can't find radicchio or pomegranate, you might as well skip a few pages. Yet if you've ever been made to feel immoral by cookbooks that give you the recipe first, then deign to suggest a "perfect" wine pairing beyond your means, let Father Sid absolve you of all your Zins (or Merlots or Viogniers). After all, the Bible talks of wine 650 times; food barely rates a mention. Perhaps if they'd had The Wine Lover's Cookbook in the Garden of Eden, Adam wouldn't have wasted all that time trying to pair ribs and an apple with a Sauvignon Blanc. --Tony Mason

Resource for Cooks who are interested in Wine.......2007-06-18
This book has interesting recipes, but it's more than a cookbook. It offers information on popular wine varietals and explains why certain foods taste good with certain wines. I find and bookmark most of my recipes on the Internet. This is the one cookbook I own.
Wine Lover's Cookbook.......2007-05-30
A friend's all-time favorite cookbook, so I decided to buy it. The recipes are consistantly flavorful. The wine facts and suggestions are interesting and helpful for each recipe. Easy to read and use; I'm enjoying this book.
Nice book on Wine and Food Pairing.......2006-07-06
A passionate home cook that has been honing her cooking skills for the last 25 years, concentrating on Italian cooking for the last 10 years, writes this review. My favorite cookbooks are "The Professional Chef" by the Culinary Institute and "Culinary Artistry". With more than 500 cookbooks in my collection I am usually disappointed in my recent cookbook acquisitions. This book is a nice addition to any cookbook library.
The book is subdivided as follows:
1. A Road Map to Great Food and Wine Pairing
.....a.The rules they are a-changing
.....b.The basics
.....c.The ugly stepsisters (foods to avoid)
.....d.Bridge ingredients
.....e.Cooking methods as a factor in pairing food and wine
.....f.10 tips to successful food and wine pairing
2.White Wines
.....a.Champagne/Sparkling wine
.....b.Sauvignon/Fume Blanc
.....c.Pinot Gris/Grigio
.....d.Riesling
.....e.Gewürztraminer
.....f.Viognier
.....g.Chardonnay
3.Red Wines
.....a.Pinot Noir
.....b.Sangiovese
.....c.Zinfandel
.....d.Syrah and Rhone Blends
.....e.Merlot
.....f.Cabernet Sauvignon
4.Dessert Wines
5.Seasonal Menus
If you love wine and good food this is a nice book to add to your library. As a lover of Italian food and wine I would have liked a little more emphasis on the cooking and wines of my beloved Italia. But, even with that deduction this is still a nice book to own.
For each wine the author spells out the following information:
1. Typical aromas and Flavors
2. Base Ingredients
3. Bridget Ingredients
4. Best Source Regions
5. Wine Styles
6. Tips to Successful Matches for that particular win.
As a lover of Super Tuscans and Brunellos I found the section on Sangiovese to be the most helpful. Reading the overview of the grape I figured out why certain classic Italian dishes marry so well with wines that are predominately Sangiovese.
For each recipe that is included in the book the author offers two wine selections. The recipes are solid, mostly classics but some with a spin. As a steadfast red wine drinker I was hesitant to try the white wine recipes. However, I decided to be open-minded and give white wine another try. I was surprised to find out that I can enjoy white wine, in the right situation.
Most of the recipes have a corresponding full color photograph of the finished dish. The recipes directions are clearly written and easy to follow.
If you love wine and good food I think you will enjoy this book.
Excellant food and wine paring.......2006-04-27
We joined a wine group about 15 years ago. We get together about once a month to taste commerial wines in a blind tasting. This past year we decided to taste 3 different wine varietals, first without food and then the same 3 wines with food. I was a little concerned as to what to serve with certain foods so researched some books and decided to order The Wine Lover's Cookbook: Great Recipes for the Perfect Glass of Wine. I decided on the Veal-Stuffed Manicotti with Roasted Yellow Pepper Pesto. I choose the wines that were suggested, Sangiovese, Zinfandel and for the 3rd wine I choose a Pinot Noir. Without food the Pinot came first, then Zinfandel and Sangiovese. With food the Sangiovese came first then the Zinfandel and Pinot Noir last, just as the book suggested. The food was outstanding with the wines and we had rave reviews. I have also made many other delicious recipes from this book, using ingredients I never thought of using. Some recipes are a little time consumming but in the end its worth every minute. This is a wonderful cook book. I can hardly wait until our next tasting! I think I might make the Pizza with Peppered Shrimp, Canadian Bacon, Mushrooms, & Feta Cheese, sounds good doesn't it? I just ordered The Wine Lover Cooks with Wine. Thanks
Great read for wine lovers.......2006-03-03
I borrowed this book from a friend and then bought it for myself! We enjoy wine and love how this book explains which ingredients and specific recipes complement each grape. The recipes have unique ingredients but nothing that can't be found at a conventional grocery store. Great idea book for dinner parties!

Book Description
Glass in one hand, fork in the other, Brian St. Pierre explores the regional wines and cuisines of Italy in this dream of a cookbook. As you'd expect from the author of A Perfect Glass of Wine, St. Pierre brings to the table fabulous recipes and inspired wine pairings. Whether it's a hearty barolo from Piedmont in the northwest that complements a pan-roasted veal tenderloin, a refreshing pinot grigio from the shores of the Adriatic paired with succulent risotto di frutti di mare, or a glass of easy-going Apulia primitivo from the southern reaches to enjoy with the rosemary and oregano notes of slow-baked lamb, each wine suggestion is designed to enhance the flavor of the recipe. The sweeter side of the wine spectrum is also represented with such treats as zuppa inglese with strawberries served alongside a glass of sparkling prosecco a finish with flourish to a remarkable meal. With a glossary of wine terms and gorgeous photographs of both the wine and the food, this stylish cookbook is as beautiful as it is informative.

Useful, beautiful cookbook and reference guide.......2006-12-28
This lovely cookbook is also a valuable reference guide for anyone interested in learning more about wine and the art of wine-pairing with food. Italy grows a vast variety of wine grapes and produces many different types of wine, a fact which can be incredibly intimidating and confusing to those unfamiliar with the country's wines beyond the now ubiquitous Chianti and Pinot Grigio. This book takes a look at each of the regions of Italy, the primary wines produced in each, and typical dishes from the region that pair well with these wines.
The writing is easy to follow and the history behind some of these wines quite fascinating. I wish I'd had this book before a recent trip to Florence, as it would have helped me tremendously with deciphering wine lists and making good choices of wine pairings. The recipies range from simple salads to more complex roasts, but should not be too intimidating to most people with some cooking experience.
The only thing that might have been nice to include would have been a breakdown of wine labelling as used on Italian wines, to help the reader understand how to find all the information on what can sometimes be complicated labels--especially for those who do not speak or read Italian.

I thought that I was very familiar with Italian wine and I learned quite a bit from this book. The book covers all the major Italian wines in reasonable detail. Many of the minor Italian wines are also covered, a few I had not yet discovered.
For each major wine the author spells out the following information:
1. Narrative regarding a history of the wine
2. Typical aromas and Flavors of the wine
3. Tips to Successful Matches for that particular wine.
For each recipe that is included in the book the author offers two wine selections. The recipes are solid, mostly classics but some with a spin. Many of the recipes are simple Italian fare, but some of them have more of a gourmet twist. There are dishes in this book for carnivores and vegetarians a like. There are even a few vegan dishes in the book. The recipe for Polenta, Pesto and Red Pepper Terrine was excellent even without the goat cheese, which I omitted to make the dish vegan. Most of the recipes have a corresponding full color photograph of the finished dish. The recipe directions are clearly written and easy to follow.
If you love Italian wine and good food I think you will enjoy this book, I know I do.

Customer Reviews:
User-Friendly.......2001-04-04
I found this volume incredibly user-friendly, easy to read, and the layout well-organized. It focuses on the moon as well as the sun in formulating astrological relationships. I highly recommend it for those who wish to get their synastry feet wet.
A Great Book for Beginners........2000-08-31
I now consider myself advanced in the field of astrology, however, when I went to the bookstore in 1993 to simply browse books on a subject I wanted to explore, astrology, this book jumped out at me. I read it in amazement! Granted, it reads more like a reference book, as most astrology books do, but it begins by explaining that as well as your Sun sign you also have a Moon sign. I knew I was a Sagittarius, but I honestly did not know that was my "Sun" sign - meaning when I was born that is where the Sun (representing ego) was placed in the zodiac. Well, when one is born, the Moon (representing emotion) is also placed in a specific sign of the zodiac. (As well as Mercury, Venus, Mars, etc. - this is part of what makes up your "chart"). What is your Moon sign? This book will tell you and it may explain why you never understood why you didn't seem much like your Sun sign characteristics. For example, if you have a Aries Sun and a Pisces Moon, you would not agree with the characteristics of the basic Aries, perhaps being selfish. Pisces are quite selfless and being that the Moon rules your emotions you will see that side of the personality as much as, if not more than the Sun traits. If you are a beginner in astrology or thinking about exploring the subject, this is a great book to own. I promise you, it will spark your interest and lead you to many more!
Amazing.Accurate and insightful,and maybe alittle too true.......1997-08-16
It is not often that you pick up a book, flick through the pages and end up looking over your shoulder. How embarassing, my Scorpio moon must be so OBVIOUS. Excellent book in an easy to read format. All my friends now have their own copy, but I am now ordering my 4th replacement copy

Book Description
Notwithstanding their considerable differences and individuality--one would hardly expect them to have a lover in common--Louise Bourgeois, Marlene Dumas, Paul McCarthy and Raymond Pettibon share an artistic intent to explore eroticism and sexuality. Each artist deals, in his or her own stylistic way, with the intense physical states of ecstasy, passion, conflict and fear. Working through the medium of drawing--the "medium of the mind"--they trace themselves, scribing pictorial metaphors of an alternately tender, aggressive, attached, forceful and even erotic confrontation with the material. Creativity, itself never free from conflict, undresses itself in drawings that touch on obsession, desire and the pleasures of eroticism. (In Search of) The Perfect Lover groups together extensive works on paper from the Hauser and Wirth Collections, complemented by a selection of sculptures. Accompanying texts embrace the connections between body, eroticism, sexuality and creativity, as well as the potential conflicts embedded in each artist's work.

This was a well written book , but it didn't hit the heart.......1999-07-14
Even thought I love The Crightons family stories, this book didn't hit my romantic heart. This book just closed the door on the last novel I read dealing with Saul and Tullah's love story (which I loved so much). It as nice to see that Louise have gotten on with her life, though.
