This Lady is Good!.......2002-09-18
The lady I'm referring to is Tabitha Flyte! I've read a number of the Black Lace and Blue Moon books recently and, frankly, the quality of writing leaves much to be desired. But Miss Tabitha is a wonderful exception to this rule. The two books of hers that I've read -- Tongue in Cheek & The Hottest Place -- rank up with the very best of the genre. Her success probably begins with the fact that her books are NOT dedicated to a particular fetish: spanking, bondage & domination, rapes, etc. Instead her characters are dealing with a type of sex that is recognizable to most readers, and her characters are believable, 3-dimensional people that we actually care about. Finally, it should be noted that Miss Tabitha has a wicked sense of humor -- always a welcome element. You really should read these two books; they're simply delightful!
One of the best in a very uneven field.......2002-07-06
I enjoy erotica and have read a number of volumes, including many of the Black Lace series, but I find the quality varies very widely, even among 4 and 5 star-rated books. I love being able to read the readers' comments to help me decide on new books.
I found Tongue In Cheek to be delightful. The sex keeps getting hotter and hotter; it is inventive without being brutal, and the ending is a delight. I particularly liked the way the main female character becomes a rising star in the advertising world by incorporating her new sexual exploits into ad campaigns. The characters too seemed like real people who developed and became more three-dimensional throughout the course of the book.
Erotica is rarely great literature, so we're measuring by a different yardstick than we would for Jane Austen or Henry James or even 20th century serious novelists. I've given this five stars because it is an excellent example of contemporary erotica, enjoyable to read, and even worth re-reading (something I rarely can say of other volumes in this genre).
Enjoyed every minute!.......2002-04-04
I enjoyed every minute of "Tongue in Cheek". The star of the book has just been dumped by her lover, who was a jerk. She thinks there will never be anyone for her again. Until her job takes her on campus where she meets Marcus. He is very young, but supplies her with the beginning return of her confidence. Next comes (pardon the pun) her boss, and others.
You see her evolve nicely and her confidence return. Scenes were funny and down to earth, and very sexy. The boardroom office scene was so hot - don't recommend reading this in public! And the ending is such a surprise - I laughed right out loud.
I highly recommend it as a super read.
One of the best.......2001-09-16
This has to be one of the best Black Lace novels that I've read. It's funny, steamy and you can see the lead character evolve---that's not to say that it's an intellectual read. The "under the table" scene was great and I haven't looked at a candle the same since reading it! Highly recommended!
Delivers as advertised...........2000-12-08
In the authors own words this is erotic fiction written by women for women ...
Sally's seduction of two young boys and the encouragement of a third to explore his homo sexuality are delicious .....
The real life writing style of modern day adds to the poignancy
It certainly is a book in the CLASSIC style of the Black Lace series ....

Hot, Sexy Fun With Plenty Of Giggles.......2005-05-19
Young eighteenth-century Lady Bella wants handsome Lucerne, but so does the handsome decadent Marquis, who has desired Lucerne for years. Finding all three of themselves at the remote Lauwine Hall for a country party on the Yorkshire Moors, a struggle ensues between Bella and Marquis for Lucerne's affections and body. That's when the fun starts and Lucerne is faced with a difficult choice.
Into the first few pages I wasn't sure if I was going to like Bella. A lot of Black Lace books have loose heroines with very little sympathy appeal, but I came away liking Bella after the first few chapters when I started to understand why the character was developed the way she was - not sluttish, but just a [...] little mischief. Bella's naughty sexual behavior only fuels Marquis in his competition for Lucerne, which he tries to use to his full advantage in more ways than one...hehe I found myself giggling more than once at Bella and Marquis's high jinx in their efforts to win Lucerne's favor. Marquis is the lovable bad boy in the story.
Not only does Gentleman's Wager have HOT juicy sex with plenty of sexual tension, and biting humor, but loads of romance between the heroine and BOTH heroes. When Lucerne, Bella & Marquis get together for a threesome, WOW! LOVED IT!!! I also found myself liking the sexual tensions and couplings between Lucerne and Marquis as much as I did with Bella and the guys. I'm a straight female who never thought I'd find male on male sex a turn-on, but it was just too darn sexy and beautiful, NOT at all gross. Only thing I didn't like was the one minor lesbian scene in the middle of the book, however it was mild and in good taste...not enough of a big deal to ruin the fun though. I have nothing against lesbian sex; it's just not a turn-on for me.
Madelynne Ellis, weaves a great tale in Gentleman's Wager and there many secondary characters who add even more sexual spice to the mix. Even without the sex, this story would be an enjoyable read. I also recommend, on the Menage a trios male/female/male theme, Menage by Emma Holly and Out Of Bounds by Mandy Dickinson.
Wow, all I can say, Wow!.......2004-08-26
Bored with romance novels and the simpering fidelity and overly flowery language therein? So was I so I ventured into erotica. The price of the ticket was well worth it.
Like many heterosexual females I'm intrigued by two men, or a woman and two men. If you're not stay away for there is that aplenty.
It's probably some of the best writing I've ever seen in any category. Believable well rounded characters, really well reserached 18th century speech and clothing as well as settings, and penty of steaminess. Ms. Ellis makes you wait for every encounter and builds the anticipation. So when it comes, wow. All I can say is wow.
My only beef is that the lesbian scene in the beginning seems abrupt and nowehere near as believable as the other sex scenes. Partly because it takes place with the unlikely Louisa, a virgin with a voyeur streak a mile wide who seems much more like a typical romance heroine than Bella, the main character.
A must read for the enlightened female!
One of the best, if not THE best!.......2004-03-26
This book sizzled. I did pick it (A Gentleman's Wager) up just for the [adult situations] but the plot kept me reading it all the way through!
Some people may shy away from the male-male couplings that take place, or the fact the heroin (Bella) becomes involved with multiple men during the course of the book.
Not only the [adult] scenes but the underlying emotions, pride, longing, and lust are true to life. Even if you may not like all the characters you really do end up feeling for them.
The title comes from a wager made by Vaughan that is quite [mature] in nature...
I would say this book is very much like "Menage" by Emma Holly; if you enjoyed "Menage" you must pick up this book as well!
Be Warned these are Graphic and Explicit.......2003-12-26
I'll begin by saying this book was very sexually explicit. The Black Lace series of books are erotic fiction, but I know there are some that will go into this thinking it's a traditional romance with a little more sex than normal. In a way it is, A Gentleman's Wager is an erotic tale.
The story relates around Lady Bella Rushdale who finds her experiences with her groom becoming unsatisfying after discovering the new owner of her favorite tristing spot sunbathing naked. From her perch she observes him amusing himself and decides she wants to seduce him or have him seduce her. She finds herself attracted to the blond handsome landowner Lucerne Marlinscar. Upon formal introduction she is invited for a lengthy stay with some other guests at his newly renovated property.
This Bella decides will be the perfect opportunity to put her plan into place with Lucerne. Only to discover among the many other guests an attractive darkly handsome man Marquis (Vaughan) Pennerley also among the guests and with eyes for Lucerne as well. Bella suspects something between the two men but wants to prove to the Marquis Vaughan that Lucerne will choose her.
A great battle of wills between Vaughan and Bella begins for the affections of Lucerne. The tale is well written and you don't know who is a good or bad in the triangle.
Also, add in Louisa, Bella's friend who isn't experienced as her friend and isn't sure about the attentions being thrown her way by Vaughan as well as the man she's infatuated with Wakefield.
I don't want to give more away, but the story is wrought with intrigue and deception with so many twists and turns. The love scenes/sex is very graphic, but also emotional and you feel the emotions of uncertainty/pain/pleasure/vulnerability of some of the cast of characters.
Just thinking of this as an Erotic book is an understatement because there is an underlying story of forbidden love and unrequited love and the lengths people will go to have their desires for another come true.
What I liked about this book is that you could easily remove the graphic scenes from the book (although they are well written) and still have a very interesting book. I found myself concerned for the well beings of the characters and how the story would play out. I enjoyed this book much more than I thought I would and am glad now that I bought it.
I hope Madelynne Ellis writes some more of this style of books. She turned what could be a bodice ripper into an intriguing erotic story that was worth the read and my money.
Put four idle young people into the same mansion ..........2003-11-13
and certainly the hijinx will be hot and heavy. Bella, our heroine is invited to stay some time at the mansion of Lucerne, a new worldly neighbour, then introduce a somewhat more repressed 'city' girlfriend, Luise, and mix it with Vaughn, a friend of Lucerne's, remove any kind of adult supervision and we get a sizzling hot erotic novel.
I love it, the fact that none of the players in this erotic novel work, allows them to enjoy a ride on the Yorkshire Moors, and of course break the monotony with intrigues, mind games, blustering challenges, and, best of all, hot, uncommitted sex. The pursuit, capture and ultimate surrender viginettes are somewhat short for some of our player but just as juicy nonetheless.....
The author manages to take us along a twisty plot that the reader must pay attention to if he/she wants to really enjoy the story. Bella on the other hand, our heroine doesn't have to pay attention at all since, even though she thinks she is the master of her destiny, is actually taken for a ride by Vaughn and Lucerne. And what a ride it is once she discovers that the two boys don't really need a woman to have their own fun .....
Is it the ultimate turn on for a woman to compete for her lover with another man? What if that lover is so hot she can't her hands off him either? Well at least they have a common ground to begin a relationship ... LOL
I really enjoyed the book, but fair warning, it's very hot but for an erotic book it's not light reading ......

...a contemporary story with a no-holds barred plot.......2006-04-22
[...]
"...a contemporary story with a no-holds barred plot full of sexual fantasies and down-to-earth prose. Humorous, arousing and entertaining. Exactly what you need in this genre."
For pre-university work experience, red haired Lucy Doyle's family find her a summer job working in a Parochial House in North London. Big mistake. Fiery tempered Lucy is the last person who you'd expect to be serving pompous old farts of the cloth. She'd much rather be serving the gardener, hunky Todd Byrne (which she does) getting herself sacked on her first day.
Needless to say, Lucy is more worried about what her mother will say, than losing a boring, badly paid job working for Father Jessop. Determined to find another job, to ease the blow, she finds herself standing under a sign of a temping agency - Super Staff and signs up. Meeting two girls, the ladylike but filthy Bobbie and the completely smutty Sophie, the likely trio cause a riot of sexual promiscuity throughout the offices of London.
However, getting a reference causes more problems than Lucy expected. When the priests refuse, she turns to Niall Flynn, who she typed for on the odd occasion. He's not the kind of man who will do something for nothing, and as the story unfolds, Lucy notices Niall is becoming more attached to her than she bargained for. She doesn't blame him, he's allowed to play with her, and her friends, so why should he complain? What worries her are the words `girlfriend' and `pregnancy' both of which Niall directs to her, and her alone. Not an ideal situation, for Lucy, who just wants to have fun collecting lovers, annoying bosses, drinking too much and generally having a naughty time.
Written in first person, Office Perks relays Lucy's innermost thoughts, secrets and gregarious actions, pulling you deep inside this explicit story of three girls out on the pull. If you can handle the heat, Monica Belle has created an entertaining, naughty read, sure to keep you turning those pages. It's a contemporary story with a no-holds barred plot full of sexual fantasies and down-to-earth prose. Exactly what you need in this genre. My favourite part of the storyline must be the relationship between Lucy and Niall. I find Lucy's tactics of using reverse psychology thoroughly amusing. Coming a close second is Lucy's humorous encounter with the rich Charles King and his very expensive Shahin Dezh, pre-war rug, not exactly the shag pile, Lucy is used to. There are also notes at the beginning of each chapter, which tease you into reading more - a great idea. This is the first book I have read by Monica Belle, and it will not be my last. I loved the ending - so funny-and so Lucy! I hope there is another book about Lucy's adventures at Uni. If not there should be!

Rubber Made.......2000-03-08
Laura, a writer, needs to get away from a potentially bad relationship. So she heads to the town where she was born and where her parents died questionable deaths. She discovers some unique uses for neoprene and what really happened to her parents. The book is mostly sex with some plot thrown in, which would be great except the "good parts" where only ok and the plot felt contrived. There are better books with more artistic and erotic merits.
Book Description
Genevieve didn't have a 90-day sex contract in mind when she began business negotiations with James Sinclair, and she soon finds herself the star of a series of kinky and erotic fantasies. Thrown into a world of sexual challenge, she must learn how to balance her career with the world of fetishism.

amazed that anyone likes this book.......2004-08-03
I generally like Black Lace books, but this made me shake with rage. How could an otherwise intelligent woman agree to act as a prostitute, which is effectively what the female lead of this book does. Selling oneself for a business deal is the same as standing on a street corner. This woman obviously had no sense of self-worth or self respect and that I found sad. Was there no other way the "hero" of the story could get to know the "heroine" that to propose such a tawdy deal. I am truly, truly amazed that anyone liked this book.
great book from black lace!.......2004-04-24
i loved this book ~ it was hot, interesting, and focused on their monogamous relationship. while the sex was a *little* kinky, carrington chose to avoid the traps of fetishes and very graphically kinky sex that sometimes can overwhelm the story. the characters were real and believable; my only regret is that it didn't focus more on the relationship behind the relationship and ended abruptly.
The BEST Black Lace book I've ever read!.......2004-04-15
This is by far the best Black Lace book I've read since Captivation! It proves that the heroine doesn't have to sleep with everything that moves to make the novel smolderingly and sinfully erotic. One of the few Black Lace books that center solely on the desires of the female and male protagonists, giving the book an unconventional romantic appeal, The Ninety Days of Genevieve is an insatiable story of uninhibited passions with a dose of BDSM, exhibitionism and voyeurism. Genevieve Loften knows that the signature of darkly handsome James Sinclair will put her on top of the career heap. But in order for him to be part of the advertising firm she works for, she has to submit to his desires for ninety days. Genevieve hadn't anticipated the unorthodox and insatiable sex games that the powerful James has concocted for her. There are various twists and delicious moments in this novel...
The various fetishes in this book -- bondage leather clothes, high heels, exhibitionistic shows, etc. -- enthralled me from beginning to end. The best part is that the author didn't resort to tasteless scenes and cheap dialogue to address the same. The domination and submission in the novel is done in a sophisticated way that does not interfere with the eroticism. The motorcycle exploit is my favorite scene. James is my favorite character in the book. He was an enigma throughout the story. I fell in love with this character! This novel also has a compelling story that mingles well with the erotica. I marvel at how well written this novel is. Lucinda Carrington is a great author. It wasn't easy getting this book, but it was worth the effort! I cannot recommend this gem enough!
HOT!.......2004-03-16
As a general rule, I don't care for Black Lace books. This one is an exception. The story centered on one relationship which appeals to the romantic in me. Despite the lack of group sex and changing partners, the story managed to be plenty hot and sexy. It was also at times tender and romantic. If other Black Lace novels just seem to be too out there for you, try this one.
"Ouch !".......2002-10-30
This one is smoking! Just teasing. I really enjoyed reading this erotic romance with a subplot. The characters are hot, the dialogue entertaining, and, the plot is a real page burner/turner.

There's nothing like robust physical activity in the great outdoors. Whether taking a few leisurely hours in the countryside or a frantic five minutes down a city side street, Sex in Public explores the whole fantasy arena of adult misbehavior in public. Voyeurs and exhibitionists alike fill the pages - those who hapen across an intimate liaison and those who deliberately display their passion before the eyes of others. From the thrill of almost getting caught, to the thrill of deliberately getting caught, this is edge-of-the-seat reading.happen

Customer Reviews:
Captivating!.......2006-06-01
I love reading BDSM erotica, and I purchased this book because I'd heard that it had some D/s elements in it. And that it did. Katya's relationship with the dominant Alexei was spellbinding. The mental power games between the two of them were indeed captivating. I found myself looking forward to scenes that involved them, and I found that the only scenes that aroused me were the ones that involved Alexei. (Of course, I'm submissive myself, so that explains why only the D/s scenes turned me on.)
I was actually surprised at the number of sexual scenes in the book, and even moreso at the many different combinations of sexual couplings. I went into the book thinking it was going to be about one couple only (Katya and Alexei)...and I think I would have preferred it that way. But having more people involved did make it interesting though, and one aspect that particularly interested me was the jealousy that arose between the different players, and how it affected them.
The ending chapter brought tears to my eyes. I wasn't entirely satisfied with Katya's final choice, but even had she picked the other option, I wouldn't have been entirely satisfied with that, either. There didn't seem to be a clear-cut winning option. But I suppose that's what happens when you get emotionally involved with multiple men at the same time.
This was the first real "historical" erotic book I've read, and I really enjoyed the backdrop of the Russian Revolution. The settings were palpable...from the hot, steamy kitchens...to the cold stony cellars...to the crackling fires of dimly lit bedchambers...to the icy Russian landscapes. Overall, a very enjoyable read. It had a little bit of everything in it and will appeal to BDSM-lovers and vanillas alike!
Actually, I got somewhat bored reading this.......2006-05-02
The glowing reviews here prompted me to purchase this book, but I have to say I was not as enthralled as other readers have been...I'm that odd bird that looks for substantive plot along with scenes of "!!!", when reading my trashy novels. What I mean is, if all you're reading is sex scenes strung together by unbelievable plot, even an erotic book gets kind of dull. If you're looking for nothing more than hot scenes, well, this book certainly delivers, but the plot of this book was pretty convoluted. Characterizations were generally light, and the heroine was especially so -- just a sexual Barbie doll, basically.
As for me, I'll think I'll reread TEA AND SPICES.
Gorgeous, riveting, CAPTIVATING historical/erotica!.......2003-12-22
This may sound unoriginal, but Natasha Rostova's (pseudonym) Captivation is truly... well, captivating. This beautiful and delectable erotic-cum-historical novel enthralled me from beginning to end. The riveting story and smoldering erotica left me longing for more, so to speak. The year is 1917, during the Russian Revolution, and Katya Leskova, a Russian princess, tries to escape to freedom. However, the Cossack army imprisons her after her royal identity is revealed. The soldiers haven't touched a woman in months and their desire is palpable. But Alexei, the tall, dark and sensual Cossack captain, isn't willing to share the beautiful, albeit insubordinate, princess. Dominant by nature, Alexei takes Katya to an erotic journey she'd never envisaged. Katya isn't quite easy to tame, and a struggle to prove power over each other ensues...
This novel is beautifully written -- Ms. Rostova has a way with words. She never resorts to vulgar smuttiness or corny romanticism. There are a lot of erotic scenes in this novel -- sometimes with two or three scenes in one single chapter. However, they don't intervene with the engrossing tale and historical references. I enjoyed the subtle backdrop of domination and submission. The author favors mind games and control over the physical aspect of S&M -- something that both impressed and enthralled me. This is the best Black Lace offering I've read thus far. I shall look forward to reading Ms. Rostova's other books. I couldn't recommend this gorgeous, riveting and captivating gem enough!
Pretty good of this type.......2003-04-10
I could have done without the gypsy threesome, but otherwise it was exciting and well-written, with a happy ending. Overall a satisfying read.
Captivation.......2002-10-26
I really enjoyed this book. It has a good story plot unlike some erotica writings. The ending is romantic and the (intimate momonts are) hot. I would recommend it highly.

A delightful gift!.......2004-04-07
I couldn't put this delectable little gem down! The Gift of Shame has a perfect blend of insatiable erotica, unconventional romance and smoldering BDSM. What I love about this novel is that it is sophisticated and beautiful. Helen had devoted six months of her life mourning her husband's death when Jeffrey comes along. No sooner does she get acquainted with the handsome stranger than he introduces her to dark, lurid games of domination and submission. The aforementioned games help her relieve some of the grief and guilt that haunt her. And the exploits that occur in a London apartment and during a Parisian excapade lead to some staggering and erotic twists...
I love the scenes that center on Helen and Jeffrey. The scene between them while Helen is on the phone is my favorite. I also love the scene on the airplane. However, the story loses strength halfway through the book. I thought the scenes on the private Caribbean island were a bit boring. But the novel regains momentum after that. This is one of the best Black Lace books I've read. The novel is beautifully written -- Sarah Hope-Walker is a talented writer. This is a sophisticated novel of forbidden pleasures. Highly recommended...
Didn't take Helen long to come out of her shell ............2003-08-09
and when she did .... trust me she was so far out of her shell that she'll probably never ever eat seafood again ....
Helen is a young British widow mourning the death of her husband while she is still in the prime of her[physcial] life. Even though she blames herself for letting her husband die in a scuba diving accident she was more than surprised when introduced to Jeffry her body responded more than what would have been appropriate for a person on such a guilt trip ....
Jeffry happens to be an extremely [physical] awakening and ultimate liberation.
I have to admit that the creativity shown by the author in describing Jeffrys courtship with Helen is absolutely worth the price of the book alone .... Of course once Helen gets over her initial shame .... and that happens in the first chapter ... she really never looks back as she is introduced to an ever growing long list of wonderfull ... parters and practices ....
Love it.......2002-10-18
I read this book as part of a Black Lace Omnibus. Of all the stories contained within the omnibus I find myself re-reading this one. This is a story of growth, forgiveness and oh yes S-E-X. This is not really for those who only like monogamy. Read this if you are looking for a sophisticated story with some BDSM.

A Great Black Lace story.......2000-11-13
I read this one in the Black Lace Omnibus, which is a collection of three stories and this one was my favorite. The story is about Helen, who is a young widow with a lot of guilt about her husbands death. She is introduced to Jeffery by a friend of hers and together they explore Helen's most secret fantasies. The story has to do with Helen letting go of guilt and shame and finding out who she is and what she want to be. The story has a strong bondage and dominance theme and the ending has a great twist. A really good story line along with very nice erotica! This one is worth checking the auctions for!

One of the best erotic novels out there.......2007-08-09
Menage by Emma Holly is one of the best erotic novels I have ever had the pleasure of reading. It combines together scenes of M/W, M/M, M/W/M that would get almost any one in the mood with real charters. You actually get involved in the plot. Some novels there is a loose plot to get you from encounter to encounter but not so in most of Ms. Holly's books.
Well written threesom........2007-03-09
Heaps of steamy sex scenes, just enough story, and only one scene that made me uncomfortable. Even has a beautiful romantic feel to the story. That's what I love, passionate writting that makes you wish your own life were as fulfilling, romance to make you sigh, and an occasional laugh to keep you grounded.
One of Emma Holly's best.
The female character, Kate, is strong enough not to be annoying, but vulnerable enough to still be interesting. The guys are separate characters, not refections of the same.
It's definetly a love story, only with three people instead of two. There's a small amount of dealing with that issue, but not too much that it distracts form the love story itself.
I'll definetly read it again.
Not Happy!!!.......2006-11-04
I am sure this was a good book, but no where was it listed that this book was written in first person. I do not like books written like that and if I had known this I would not have bought it.

In Southern California, the Zoological Association is investigating the consequential impact of an apparent financial crisis at the Southern California Cat Sanctuary. Gabe Sullivan of ZA is to judge whether the myriad of various felines are being neglected by the fiscal shortfall and if they should finance it or shut it down. Their inquiry has caused a media feeding frenzy worse than a leopard in heat. Meanwhile someone is sabotaging the efforts of SCCS to remain solvent with little potentially dangerous incidents like breaking the lock to release the ocelots.
SCCS Felicia DuBois has enough on her plate with a need to raise money ergo with a fundraiser that is behind the times, the sabotage, and the lack of a sex buddy because she has gone through the available male population at the sanctuary. Now she meets gorgeous Gabe, who makes her body smoke with one look. Felicia knows she must cool down her ardor because the cause of her heat is probably the enemy. Still her brain says one thing while her heart says sleep with the enemy. Gabe feels the same way from the moment she shut down his upper head and activated his lower head with one look. As two torrid cats on a hot tin roof battle for sexual supremacy, Felicia tries to uncover the identity of the culprit destroying SCCS's hopes to keep their felines safely housed.
Not for everyone CAT SCRATCH FEVER is an ultra hot erotic romance that starts off with a temperature warmer than Venus with Felicia's Brazilian underwear off and never slows down until the final sex scene. The story line contains a solid amateur sleuth subplot as Felicia investigates who the culprit is harming her facility, but also provides solar heated subplots and not just between Gabe and Felicia. Sophie Mouette provides a chili pepper erotic whodunit.
