Book Description
Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

Calculations are only as good as your numbers.......2007-08-03
Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.
Pants on fire?.......2007-07-19
Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.
Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09
There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.
For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.
Very Interesting.......2007-03-07
It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.
History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10
Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.
I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.
Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.
Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.
I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.
This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.

LOVE IT.......2007-03-09
I LOVE IRIS JOHANSEN!!!! ALL OF THE BOOKS I HAVE READ OF HERS ARE GREAT!!!!! READ THEM, YOU WON'T BE DISAPOINTED!
I sense a theme. . . .......2007-01-13
This is one of the weaker of Johansen's books. First, her usual delightful secondary characters are absent. And secondly, the primary couple get all the attention, but are formulaic and don't really deserve it.
There is a pattern I think the author should see a shrink about, since it occurs in so many of her books: I've read at least 4, and it's been present in all. In each one, an innocent maiden meets a jaded man-of-the-world, and the only courtship between them is in the form of repellent foreplay: he constantly makes raunchy statements to her in the form of explicit sexual threats, and continues the threats by intimidation and groping. This makes the innocent girl 1) run for cover? or 2) pant and flutter and hop into his bed. (Guess what -- it's #2.) Other than indicating Johansen had serious boundary violations as a teenager, it makes for near-offensive reading--it's sexual harrassment, not romance.
This was actually appropriate to the first Wind Dancer book, as the character had rough edges and his arc in the book was to learn the error of his ways. I love that her 'heroes' are not perfect, not the typical monochromatic virtuous type, but this pattern is just not appropriate for every single couple in every single book.
Johansen is very good at intricate plots, but whatever genre she chooses to write, she should streamline the plot a bit, and give some more focus to character and dialogue. She's very talented, so I always find her books interesting in some way, but the romance aspects of them have been disappointing.
JUST WASN'T THAT GOOD .......2006-01-31
Sorry, but this book just wasn't good. I think the first problem came early on when Jared compares Cassie to a child in terms of her body. This really turns me off because early on she acts like a child also. He really thinks she's 14! That's not romantic @ all. And, ok, I know it was island culture and all but having Cassie run around Topless, just isn't romantic. It's like leave something to the imagination! And, if she is going to be topless, please don't let her body be that of a 14-year-old, and not voluptous/sexy. That way it'd be easier for me to see the initial appeal Jared sees in her.
As tantalising as the bared breasts.......2002-11-22
I really enjoyed it. The setting at Hawaii gave an exotic and erotic backdrop. Jared first saw Cassie on a moonlit beach and thought she was a native since she dressed like them, just a sarong aroung her waist, leaving her tantalising breasts bared. That was a sure innocent way to arouse a man. But Cassie was not out to seduce, she was brought up at the island and thus not self-conscious about her body. Like most Iris Johansen heroines, Cassie unknowingly needed to be needed. She was very protective over Kapu, her beloved horse. Thank goodness it was not another child or dependent person. I liked reading about her resistance to stay in Jared's bed. Cassie wanted their lovemaking to be just mating, so as not to be vulnerable to betray her father. The sexual tension between Jared and Cassie was very strong, which added to the joy of reading the story. I enjoyed reading about how Cassie taunted Jared's command, in her small way but was extremely frustrating for Jared. The secondary characters did not have a cunning sense of humour as in her other books. Brandford was supposed to be but he was a tad bland. Josephine injected some energy into the story but had a relatively minor role in the story development.
good romance.......2002-11-19
The book begins with a short prologue set in 1795 revolutionary France and then picks up in Hawaii in 1806. The happenings in France are at the heart of a mystery which motivates all the subsequent action, as a stranger appears one day who wants to exact revenge against Cassandra's father. She does not know what happened all those years ago, but she trusts her father, helping him to escape back to France while she stays behind to delay the young Duke of Morland. The characters are well-written, though Cassandra doubts her feelings long after a reasonable person would; also, a secondary romance develops between two likeable characters, which I enjoyed.
Conflict arises first from Cassie wanting the stranger to stay away from her father and later from wanting to reconcile her growing tenderness toward him while staying loyal to her father. The settings -- France, Hawaii and England -- are interesting and used to good effect. Horses figure largely here, and that's a good thing too. And ultimately what you want in a romance, a real desire to see the protagonists united, is here. Johansen writes in several genres and is talented in all of them. This romance was enjoyable and I would read others by this author.

Red and the Werewolf.......2006-10-18
Red may not be the best guy in the neighborhood but he has managed to avoid falling in with either of the local gangs. His pride and joy is a deep red Mustang which he loves to drive. But then his car is stolen and Red finds himself funning afoul of the Wolves, one of the gangs. No sooner is he in trouble than the Wolves kidnap his grandmother. It is then that Red learns the horrible truth about the Wolves. They are really werewolves and they are not to be trifled with.
Red discovers that werewolves were in the neighborhood many years ago. That time things were cleared up because some werewolf hunters came to town and quietly took care of the situation. Now red decides he has to find the werewolf hunters before things get completely out of hand. To make matters worse, these werewolves are smart. They have a devastating plan that will affect more than just Red's neighborhood. But if Red cannot find the hunters will he be able to handle the Wolves fore they realize their plans and become unstoppable?
This second Dark Fusion book is not the first time Red Riding Hood has been combined with werewolves but I believe it is the first time it has been done in a modern urban setting. The story is handled very well with action and revelations occurring steadily. The Wolves' plan adds a real sense of urgency in a way much different than the personal urgency in the first book (DREAD LOCKS). The joining of fairy tale to modern horror elements works very well and I am looking forward to the next book in the series. Check it out.
Red Rider's Hood.......2006-05-15
Have you ever seen your grandma hunting werewolves? Well Red has. In the action packed book: Red Rider's Hood by Neal Shusterman, Red's grandma fights werewolves in New York City. Red feels himself being pulled in by the "Wolves" who are actually a dangerous street gang, by his grandma and the love of his life, Marissa Flowers. Red has to make the decision of his life! Red Rider's Hood is an excellent book for fourth to eighth graders to read and if you like to read fantasy books, you'll love this book! In my opinion, this book is a real page turner.

This is a must have! It's so great that I couldn't put it down. I really hope Victoria Holmes writes many great books like this. The only thing I would've changed would be that Jamie and Helena were secretly in love!
Truly a great book!!!!.......2006-05-09
This novel is set in the 1800's. Recommend this to anyone who likes smugglers, horses and action!!
Echh.......2006-03-03
This book isn't horrible, but it's really really bad. NOTHING actually happened until about 3/4 of the way through the book. The main character, Helena (Nell), is way too hard to relate to because she is PERFECT. This book was really boring, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone over the age of 8.
Truly an epic horse story.......2005-03-24
Helena Roseby, living as a magistrate and quarry owner's daughter in a Grand Estate, loves horses and riding. But when her father brings home a new horse, Oriel, her life is completely changed. Nell gets invovled with local smugglers, and has to try to continue to have a normal life, depite visits from local customs officers question her family about the smugglers. And on top of all this, Nell has to prove that Oriel is as loyal and safe as any other horse...
Anyone who loves a good read should read this - it is truly amazing. Filled with adventure, excitement, and of course horses, this is a book that is sure to delight anyone of any age - Victoria Holmes truly is a stunning writer.

Book Description
Here is the book that Tolkien fans have needed for half a century--a detailed, book-length chronology of J. R. R. Tolkien's complex tale. Whether you are a serious Tolkien fan or simply someone who enjoys reading the story over and over again, this is the book for you. It's the first totally new reference for The Lord of the Rings since the 1970s.
Beginning over 1400 years before the major events in Tolkien's epic, it describes, year-by-year, the amazing and imaginative background history that Tolkien created for his masterpiece. Then for the main narrative, it becomes a day-by-day reference, describing what each character does on that day and all the places where those events are described in Tolkien's writings. You can find out, for instance, what Merry and Pippin are doing as Sam perpares rabbit stew on the morning of March 7.
Probe deeper into Tolkien. See why someone as serious as Gandalf was interested in fun-loving Hobbits. Discover an exciting new plot, based on Tolkien's notes, that begins when Aragorn captures Gollum. Follow along as the Black Riders and Gandalf race for the Shire. Decide for yourself whether Sauron and the Ring have any ties to Hitler and Stalin. Explore what Tolkien believed about nature and technology.
A few facts illustrate how helpful this chronology is. Most of narrative is a deliberately confusing sea of next days and third days that leave readers as confused as the tale's main characters. The middle 60 percent of The Lord of the Rings gives the current date only once. In the narrative as a whole, the date is given only 23 times, or once for every 43 pages, and most of those come when the plot is moving slowly. That's why those who want to dig deeper and understand better what Tolkien was saying will find this book a must-have.
Customer Reviews:
Excellent Resource.......2006-12-10
Perry has done a wonderful job in untangling the very intricate tale woven by J.R.R. Tolkien. Of particular help are the copious margin notes which reference exactly where Perry is drawing the information contained within that section of his book. The commentary made by the author is a welcomed pause for reflection on the events that are taking place and keep the book from being a mere listing of dates and events. I teach a course on J.R.R. Tolkien and have found Untangling Tolkien a valuable resource, since it covers the entire history of Middle-earth: what comes before The Hobbit and what takes place after The Lord of The Rings. Bravo Mr. Perry, I look forward to reading your other books.
Knits up the ravels.......2004-10-31
An amazing accomplishment by a dedicated Tolkien fan.
That is how I'd sum up the book Untanging Tolkien. Michael Perry has first unraveled all Tolkien's "dates" -- which can be extrapolated from phases of the moon -- and then knit them together again in a cohesive outline, presented in much greater detail than Tolkien's own timeline (found buried in Appendix A of LOTR). By incorporating information from other Tolkien writings, the author of Untangling Tolkien collates additional facts about all the characters and the circumstances surrounding the War of the Ring, folding them all into this detailed chronology. He includes material that sheds light on possible parallels between Tolkien's work and events that were contemporary, and he provides original commentary that suggests some additional motivations for Tolkien's characters. Sidebars offer references to every source for the information presented and for each conclusion the author has drawn.
I found the format, with quick-reference bulleted lists and clearly delineated sections and subheadings, well-organized and easy to use.
NOTE: I read the third printing that was published in May 2004. Apparently the author has corrected many of the errors that David Bratman objected to (below). You won't find a better overview or a more throrough treatment of time and dates in LOTR than Perry provides in this book.
A Radiograph of LotR........2003-12-27
This book is layed out as a chronological record of the events covered by Tolkein's masterpiece with prefaces that explain the calender system created by Tolkein and its conversion to our more mundane (and possibly inferior) system. The type is clear, and margin citations clear and present for every entry. It's primary utility, at which it succeeds admirably, is as a kind of radiograph of Tolkein's work that reveals its astonishing complexity more clearly and allows one to admire, and more importantly, explore the book itself more quickly, easily, and deeply.
The book also contains copious notes inline with the chronology. These vary from informative to tangential, but at worst do not detract from the book's primary function. Mr. Perry is perhaps foremost as Lewis scholar, and so C.S. Lewis, a close acquaintance and friend of Tolkein, makes a number of appearances. Also making appearances in the notes are William Shakespeare and Winston Churchill.
All in all, a unique book which will save anyone who wants to do an in depth study of LotR a lot of time.
Splendid Tolkien Reference Work.......2003-12-21
Superb, exhaustive chronology of Tolkien's Lord of the Rings saga. Perry does a superior job in untangling a number of thorny chronological issues in Tolkien's narrative, and he employs some fine literary detective work in reconstructing what events are happening across Middle Earth on any given date. Especially admirable is his reconstruction of how much moonlight there was during each day of Frodo and Sam's journey into Mordor.
In addition to chronology, Perry supplies a lot of background information about Tolkien's themes and sources, as well as biographical tidbits about Tolkien. For example, there are fascinating discussions of Tolkien's views of technology, freedom, and totalitarianism. Perry also discusses Tolkien's stance toward the misuse of Germanic myths by the Nazis.
This is a great resource for Tolkien-lovers everywhere.
a giant mass of undifferentiated trivia.......2003-12-21
A year-by-year, later day-by-day, chronicle of the war against Sauron from the founding of the Shire to the glorious conclusion seems at the outset like a good idea. Perry calls LOTR's Appendix B, the Tale of Years, "far from complete" but it covers the whole period: what he means is that it's not detailed enough for him. Appendix B won't tell you which day Sam cooked coney for Frodo; Perry will.
But alas, the book does not stop there. The entries are written as bullet lists like a PowerPoint presentation, and many add pointless little flowcharts such as two-generation family trees. They reduce Tolkien's magnificently complex subcreation into a giant mass of undifferentiated trivia. And each yearly or daily entry comes with its commentary, whether directly relevant, side points, broader considerations, or dogmatic essays in applicability. The unrelieved banality and inappropriateness of these must be read to be believed; as also the author's clumsy, grammatically inept style, and his smug superiority to the characters. (He frequently criticizes the good guys' "blunders," all of them more complex than he implies.)
There's actually some good chronological analysis and speculation hiding in here. But how can someone who knows his Tolkien that well say that the wizards were Valar, or that Rohan gave Isengard to Saruman (it wasn't theirs to give, and Saruman was made its warden, not a freeholder), that Boromir and Faramir had a sibling rivalry (Tolkien specifically says not), or suggest that Galadriel should have sent daily eagles to check up on the Fellowship?
These are not isolated examples: the bloopers and misconceived ideas go on and on. The whole book is like that: it has the soul of a PowerPoint presentation. I can't recommend it on any terms.

Fast-paced, tense........2007-03-09
Abnett has a knack for literary warfare. He has done a splendid job emersing the reader in a world of dark fantasy here. The characters and their histories are beautifully fleshed out. Perhaps the best thing to note in this book is the gradual, painstakingly well-crafted way that a protagonist makes his way down the path of darkness. From a hero to a villian, the transition is so well honed that you'll be awestruck.
My only complaint is that, after spending hundreds of pages building these characters up and detailing them flawlessly, the final battle between our protagonists lasts nearly half a page, and feels somewhat unsatisfying. You've followed a main character for a long time, soaking up his mannerisms and ways, only to have him cut down quickly and efficiently, with little time spent on his own thoughts as it happens. Perhaps Abnett did this on purpose, but it left me feeling a little flat.
Despite that, this is an excellent piece of fantasy, and I'd recommend it to anyone interested in brutal action and warfare.
Fun book, ending was a bit anti-climatic........2006-06-02
This was a fun fantasy warfare book from Mr. Abnett which tracks the divergent lives of 2 cousins after a military defeat in which they are separated, and the sequence of events which was obviously going to bring them into conflict.
I think either of the subject's stories would have been a good standalone novel's basis, as the inevitable confrontation between the two seemed like a lot of effort to get nowhere. The scenery and background/settings were very well written, along with the individual threads of the 2 stories.
I prefer Mr. Abnett's eisenhorn trilogy to this.
The Year that no one forgets..........2006-02-12
... or actually the book that no one forgets.
The book was about two demilancers of the Empire who went to war and got separeted.
It was the 2521 and a full scale war was goin' on. One of the empire armies march north and face the northern tribes.
The northern tribes were more and outnumbered then and most of them fell.
Some were made captives to their own sports and others fled south.
And this is how our story begins.
Dan Abnett made a story about two different friends, if you can call it. One is a noble (anti-hero) and other is a educated person (Hero). In the book they go to drastic changes.
This book is about the main characters but we can see other aspects. Dan Abnett portraits exclently the Viewpoint of Empire, of the Kislevian's (who are the empire allies but seen as under-developed people), and the Northers (Norsca) Who are the antognists of the empire.
In the end I personally admire each and every other realm.
The norcsa who aren't that all chaos and mayhem, the kisvelians who live in the stepps and aren't that under-develped but rather code and faith followers.
I like the all book. If there is a part where I don't feel so excited its the end. I guess it was rather precipated. But the end after the last battle was tottaly unpredictable. (It remind me of Dan Abnett's Double Eagle)
If you want to start reading Warhammer you can start anywhere since they are all great books.
But Abnett's book are just marvelous. I would recomend this one to people who love a book about war and character development.
(I am not a native english person but portuguese)
Engrossing Tales With So-So Ending.......2005-09-10
Dan Abnett is easily one of the best writers in the Black Library stable, and shows his talents in the fantasy, sci-fi, and comic realms, though arguably he's best know for his work in the Warhammer 40K universe.
Like the twin tails of the Sigmarite comet, this offering provides parallel tales of transformation. The main, and supporting, characters have realistic, complex motivations, and do an excellent job of drawing the reader into the work
Fans will find references to all the history and units that make the Warhammer Fantasy Battle world so popular, and though I'm not an expert of that history, there didn't seem to be any contradictions to canon.
The end of the tale, when our two protagonists finally come back together, is something of a disappointment. It feels rushed and is over almost before you realize that it's supposed to be the climax.
All in all, a good read except for the finale.
Best Abnett novel yet............2004-03-20
This is a very good read. If you ar into battle scenes, Abnett is your man. No one is better than Abnett at descibing the blurr, blood, and chaos that is medevil combat. But it not just the battles that make this book great, its cultures add a huge amount of flavor and substance to it also. Would be a 5 star classic if not for the sudden ending. Abnett likely had a page count given to him to stay under by the publisher.

Didn't Live Up.......2007-07-03
I absolutely love "The James Bond Lifestyle Seminar," but this audiobook fell short. The plot was decent, but nothing better than you'd expect based on the synopsis. The main character is supposed to be 33 years old, yet his voice sounds like an old man. He sounds very unsure of himself. Also, a lot more could have been done with the sound effects. They did not immerse me in the scenes, as another reviewer claimed.
I never wanted it to end!! Fabulous!.......2007-01-16
Mr Kyriazi's production of Hard Rock Lovers was just fantastic! I was on the edge of my seat on a daily basis! I put the audio book on my iPod and listened while I jogged. I gotta say it motivated me to get out there and I am so sad it is over! I cannot wait for his next Audio production!
The story is fantastic, gripping and sexy. I absolutely loved it!
Bravo!!!!
An all-star cast of my generation! I swooned over Rod Taylor and Robert Culp!.......2006-05-22
Wow! My sister pointed me to this audio book and I couldn't believe my ears. I just relaxed on my bed to listen and was absolutely delighted with the movie-quality of the sound effects. Not only is this a masterful, well-written plot, it's also a quality production. The best I've heard.
And those stars that the magnificent author/director Paul Kyriazi lined up for this special version of his book!!! Well, all I can say is that I remember swooning each time I saw any of them on the big screen. (I hope my hubby doesn't read this.) But when I saw Rod Taylor--who narrates this story, with such a come-hither voice--starring in The Birds with that gorgeous Tippi Hedren, I almost fainted. Yes, he was that much of a hunk ... and still is, according to my sister!
Incidentally, people used to say I looked like Tippi. Ah-hhh, memories ... But getting back to this audio book, I loved it to pieces.
Keep up the excellent work, Mr. K. You're terrific, and almost as handsome as the great Rod! Ciao, baby ...
WONDERFUL cast, beautifully performed, an EXCITING thrilling journey you won't forget!.......2006-03-15
From the moment Hard Rock Lovers comes on ... it takes you by the hand and mind, and immediately draws you into this intriquing story, narrated by the imcomparable Rod Taylor, of revenge, love, lust, cold reality and spiritual enlightenment.
Robert Culp kept me laughing with his perfect low-life agent performance, always the best! James Darren was the perfect rock star, mean, talented but sad, his performance was # 1. Ishtar Uhvana was great as Medusa, she added the sweetness to keep some reality in the rock world and her ending dialoque brought tears to my eyes. Loved Russ Tamblyn, George Chakiris was brilliant as the evil Reynaldo, and Nefta Perry as Connie played the perfect Rosie Perez.
The ending gives you hope and leaves you with happy feelings. You will want to play it again and again; it only gets better each time you listen.
Paul Kyriazi is my hero. I am his BIGGEST fan.
Thank you Paul for the fun and exciting adventure!
"Hard Rock Lovers".....Beautifully done!!.......2006-03-14
The "Hard Rock Lovers" audio book was not at all what I expected, but what a wonderful surprise! It's a twisted, tangled web of events played out by a handful of multi-leveled, intertwined characters. The story is well written, beautifully told and convincingly enacted centering on the heights of a successful rock star and the terrible costs that are paid when that success is abused. People and events are manipulated by all the characters to satisfy their own needs and agenda.
"Good" and "evil" are blurred. "Life" and "death" are blurred. Relationships are blurred, but the irony of fate is boldly presented and it's made abundantly clear that our "next" existence offers another chance to hopefully do better. The inevitability of change, the subtle and sometimes dramatic interrelationships between cause and effect as well as the ever-present, ever-looming scales of divine and poetic justice are persistent threads. A beautiful blending of drama and melodrama are used to develop both the story and the characters. The audio presentation is top-notch entertainment, particularly when you consider that all acting is accomplished solely through vocal artistry. The actors do a fantastic job of inviting the listener into their world and moving you effortlessly through the story.
I really enjoyed listening to this audio book. It is wonderful from start to finish and my congratulations go out to all involved. It's a winner on all levels.

Great "Adults Only" reading........1999-10-24
This is the first book I've read in the Idol series. The cover artwork and description on the back made me buy it. But once I started reading, I couldn't put it down. Jack Gordon has written a story with facinating characters, an interesting plot, and wonderfully discriptive sex scenes.
A fun hot time which happens to be well written.......1999-09-03
So often the "erotica" genre is marked by bad writing and jumps between sex scenes. This, however, is much more literate with extensive bridges between (well written) panting scenes. And the story keeps you going, pulled along to see where the story goes, what the secret is, and what happens to the characters.
If you want to expand yourself out of the run of the mill, definitely check this out. It makes me want to read more of the books by Jack Gordon, which others have reviewed favorably.
Very Good.......1999-08-04
I thought this was just a trashy erotica as usual, but this turned out to be a great read. I hope Mr. Jack Gordon adds more like this novel to Idol series.
hot erotica... not cheap trash.......1998-09-17
Not your usual cut-and -run from one sex scene to another. There is plot here, which only enhances the fully descriptive sexual encounters. Plot twists and descriptive settings combine with intensly and masterfully written encounters that carry you easily thru the book's end.
Nice Balance.......1998-05-01
I have just finished 'Dark Rider' and I think it's the best Idol book I've read so far (I have read The King's Men, The Velvet Web and The Slave Trade.
I think this volume strikes the balance nicelty between good fuction and fanatsy in a contemporary setting. The two main chcracters - Robert and Angelo - were very appealing and I got a good picture of them as the book developed. I also liked the balance between submission/domination, straightforward sex and good old-fashioned romance; also between solo, twosomes and groupsex. The description of Angelo and Robert finally getting togther was quite a tour-de-force, lasting as it did for several pages and the pacing of the ritual secen.
I was a little surpsied that Ienjoyed an idol book set in the present day so much. I look forward to reading more from this authpor, and more Idola books whihc make much better reading than the usual material available. And I just love the covers! END
