Book Description
Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

Calculations are only as good as your numbers.......2007-08-03
Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.
Pants on fire?.......2007-07-19
Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.
Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09
There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.
For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.
Very Interesting.......2007-03-07
It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.
History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10
Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.
I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.
Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.
Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.
I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.
This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.

To longtime sales and customer-service pro Jeffrey Gitomer, boasting about a near-perfect customer-satisfaction rating of 97.5 percent is a major mistake. "That means 2.5 percent of your customers are mad and they're telling everyone. And 97.5 percent of your customers will shop anyplace the next time they go to market for your product or service." Based on a philosophy that's been developed through his syndicated business columns and the more than 150 seminars that he gives each year to companies such as Radisson, Sony, NationsBank, and Time Warner Cable, the book outlines his formula for making customers so faithful they "will fight before they switch--and they will proactively refer people to buy from you." Regularly employing oversized type in screaming bold fonts to grab the reader's attention, Gitomer breathlessly recounts his start-to-finish approach to becoming "memorable" to consumers along with illustrative tales of his own encounters with particularly egregious examples of poor service. All of this is bolstered by an ongoing sampling of his inspirational quips and a variety of self-evaluating quizzes designed to pinpoint individual strengths and weaknesses. Take a deep breath, read it straight through, and prepare to delight thy customer! --Howard Rothman

Handbook of Customer Loyalty.......2007-10-08
The title of this book could easily be, "The Handbook of Customer Loyalty." This book is outstanding. The author has successfully dissected every aspect of business life and addressed how each affects customer loyalty. Gitomer provides numerous good and bad examples for each segment as well as numerous bullet points to consider. In addition, there are a number of self-evaluation tests to indicate areas of personal improvement. I consider this book more of an invaluable resource than a book to read and put on my bookshelf. Not only have I read this book twice, but I plan on reviewing it semi-annually to make sure I am on track with what must be hundreds of directly applicable examples, suggestions and guidelines. It would be impossible to read this book without realizing dozens of methods to improve your own business relationships.

I was able to apply some of his ideas on the very next customer that came into my store! This is a MUST READ for the way a customer service employee (or boss) should treat every customer - whether on-line or in-person. This should be required reading in every business class in the country.
This will keep you on your toes.......2007-02-20
Just a fabulous book about customer service. Fun, practical and inspiring to say the least. I email some of the best ideas out to our team every day. I am really enjoying this book!
Customer service....who really can define it?.......2007-01-19
This book is very easy to read. I personally read it in less than 1 week because all the recomendations and practical advices of Gitomer really are sense common and any organization would have a tremendous benefit if do apply at least the 40% of the customer service rules listed by this book. Also offers information about why the customer satisfaction is the lowest level for a long term relationship and why a loyal customer should be the goal to get for any person involved in the sales and marketing world. Highly recommended.

Yawner.......2007-05-12
I was moving cross-country and this was one of several audiobooks I purchased for the trip. I'm not a newbie to this material so perhaps that is why I almost drove myself into a ditch with boredom. Probably best for someone who doesnt read the WSJ or watch CNBC on a regular basis.
An Occasional Five or Ten Minutes Could be Most Beneficial.......2007-03-13
"Best Investment Advice I Ever Received" is a quick and easy read. It includes a lot of great advice offered by those who really know what they are talking about. Truly, these individuals have earned our respect. This is not a so-called great book. However, Liz Claman has put together a work that can be profitably read for five to ten minutes at a time. It easily deserves 4 3/4 stars out of 5.
Maybe not the "best" but "very good".......2007-02-04
The book contains short essays from the best known financial experts of our day and it is always exciting to hear their personal comments. Having read through everyones advice, the twisted yet comfortable thought from Mike Jackson says it all; "..how exciting it is to be boring..."
What I mean by that is the culmination of expert thought in this book: save early and save often and diversify your investing for the long run. Stay away from fads and short term schemes. To paraphrase Weissenstein, the more people try to hit a home run, the more likely it is that they'll strike out.
Only a couple of the short essays were predictably boring - like Robert Kiyosaki and Alan Miller. However, just picking up a quote here and there from the other contributors was well worth the price of the book. I know I will be using a number of these quotes in the future.
Oh yeah, my favorite quote? that goes to Alan Skrainka: "Investment decisions should be based on investment principles, not investment predictions." Continuously educate yourself so you are prepared for smart decisions and don't try to guess on highs and lows. Watching your money grow over a long period of time may sound very boring, but it is exciting to know you have invested your hard earned money based on the best investment advice you'll ever receive.

This is a compilation of thoughts from various business and finance gurus, each ranging from a few lines to a few pages in length. Some of them are inciteful and well worth heeding. Others were so shallow that I wonder why they chose to include them at all. You are better off reading Jim Cramer's several books or the classics by Bogle, Lynch, and Graham, if you want to improve your investment skills. If you are looking for basic household money management help, look at Dave Ramsey's publications.

Makes So Much Sense!.......2007-09-16
As a spiritual teacher, I believe that when you have goals and dreams in life, the "universe" sends people your way to help you accomplish those goals or realize those dreams. The trick is recognizing those helpful people when they cross your path, and being open and receptive to them. In this book by Dean Lindsay, he offers a more worldly, pro-active approach to fostering relationships of that nature. The advice he offers, though, is always appropriate, and never pushy. For a "business book," I think Cracking The Network Code is both valuable and practical. Plus, its lighthearted style makes it a pleasure to read. I recommend it.

Great advice, great value.......2007-08-01
This book is an enjoyable, fast-paced read, but will give you a lot to mull over. It is full of advice you can put to use immediately, and if you do, your life will be richer.
Dean really puts a new spin on the idea of networking: that you need to do for others first and make their progress your goal. If you think that networking is only for the selfish and the smarmy, this book is for you.

To be successful in business or in one's personal life, the need to connect with others is essential. Mr. Lindsay's book provides the reader with a roadmap on developing great relationships and resources. While the book emphasizes enhancements in the ability to sell, the principles apply to virtually any business - the achievement of significant results.
Mr. Lindsay writes in a fashion that makes often difficult networking much easier to attain, with far superior outcomes. He describes the right way to approach networking, how to overcome any hesitancy in developing a network, and how to make a positive set of results. This book should be added to the library of any business person.

Customer Reviews:
Priceless Book.......2007-08-20
I scoured all of the local libraries for books on wedding planning, and of the dozens that I read, this was by far my favorite book. While some of the advice is rather obvious, as other reviewers have mentioned (have your photographer friend take your pictures, etc.), I found this book to be such a refreshing departure from the typical books and bridal magazines that I have read. It provided such reassurance to me that it's okay to not want to spend tens of thousands of dollars on one single day of your life. When I was feeling the pressure to follow all of the expensive traditions that usually go along with a wedding, this book helped to remind me that our wedding day is about celebrating my fiance and I as a couple, not impressing people or living up to expectations. I've had so much fun finding really amazing bargains on everything from favors to decorations to invitations and more, and every time I really hit the jackpot with a deal, I wish that I could be in the book to tell our story.
Extort your friends and family!.......2007-04-03
According to this book, the way to have a "Priceless Wedding for under $5000" is to rope your friends and family into footing much of the bill by providing to you, free of charge, catering services, music, photography, ceremony and reception locations, flowers... and so on. In the price breakdowns in the book, huge ticket items are not even counted as costs if someone other than the bride or groom writes the check or does the work. Oh, and items bartered for are also counted as a "free" items. Also, the rings, the honeymoon, "pre-wedding" stuff, such as the rehersal dinner, are not counted in the cost. Finally, some of the figures in the sample budgets are totally unrealistic. For example, in at least one incident, under stationary (for 100+) the total would not even pay for the postage (invitation, RSVP, thank-you notes) let alone the stationary itself...
ridiculous.......2006-11-15
The title of the book should be " How to be cheap without losing your dignity". It's impractical for most people outside of the midwest. I was given this book as a gift and I promptly donated it to my local public library. I wouldn't dare pass it on.
Not worth it.......2006-01-07
It was definitely neat reading about others' weddings, but the advice in here is impractical, and impossible to follow depending on your situation. As previously mentioned, most of the couples in the book managed to have a cheap wedding by having friends and family donate things - food and photography services, in particular. If you don't have chefs or photographers in your family, this book's not going to be much help.
The weddings written about are definitely creative, but if you have a large family or are dreaming of a traditional wedding instead of a $5000 elopement to Disneyland or a casual barefoot-on-the-beach affair, you'll be out of luck with this book.
Ironically, not much bang for the buck.......2004-11-25
This book would be great if it were the only one out there. However, it is most certainly not. The only original parts of the book (and by that I mean ideas that you couldn't find elsewhere) were the dollar breakdowns of some actual weddings for less than $5,000. Those examples were very specific scenarios, and if you weren't one of those similar situations(ie: having a friend or family with a home large enough for your guestlist), there wasn't much value gained from the book.
Given the target audience for the book are couples trying to get the most for their dollar, the book itself fails to carry it's own weight. Page for page, better value can be found elsewhere, such as Bridal Bargains by Denise and Alan Fields. There wasn't a single idea in Priceless Weddings that I didn't find in Bridal Bargains.
Book Description
Whether their complaints are about customer-proof packaging, a never-ending voice mail loop, or a purchase that doesn't live up to its claims, customers are consistently disappointed in their interactions with companies. And while experts say that the creation of "customer experiences" is the new requirement for success, few companies have managed to deliver.
Now, veteran experience consultants Diana LaSalle and Terry A. Britton take businesses from concept to practice, offering a tactical guide to creating value-adding experiences around any product or service-whether the offering is candles or computers, catering services or consulting advice.
The authors argue that most managers remain stuck in a "features and benefits" mentality that zeroes in on what a product does. That focus needs to shift, they say, to what a product or service offers and how it affects customers' lives. LaSalle and Britton provide a hands-on model for understanding the relationship between value and experience, and then show how companies can leverage that knowledge to transform ordinary products and services into experiences that customers consider extraordinary-even priceless.
Drawing from extensive research and the stories of experience pioneers, the authors introduce new systems-the "Experience Engagement Process" and the "Experience Event Matrix"-businesses can use to:
- Evaluate the entire consumption experience through the customers' eyes
- Better understand what various customer groups value and why

A good book with focus on Value/Customer Experience, but can be better.......2006-03-20
In my humble opinion, this book can be highlighted by one single sentence on page 27, "When is a banana not a banana?"
With tons of examples, a few frameworks and six so called "Priceless Roadmaps" in the end of six chapters, the authors elaborate well the importance and means of making the transition from merely selling goods or services to delivering "Value Experience". Definitely worths your time and its price. Nevertheless, it can be even better if the authors had sought the professional advice of some editors to rearrange it into a more readable and organised way, say, summarizing the currently very piecemeal frameworks with more charts, figures and graphs.
Priceless Professional Services.......2005-10-29
One might think that the themes of "Priceless" are only for companies that sell consumer products. I have found that the principles apply to Wealth Advisors, CPAs, Law Firms, Insurance Firms and Banking. If professional service firms study and address the client value models and apply the recommendations of Diana and Terry they will build client loyalty and profitability. Great thought leadership and a fun book to read for anyone who wants to build client loyalty!
Nothing new.......2004-10-25
Quite disappointed. Nothing new. Recommend "How customers think" and "clued in" instead of this one.
my comment.......2004-02-18
Priceless is a good book I recommend people who are interested in marketing to read. The paragraph is easy to read and understand. There are lots of examples in the book trying to illustrate some theories which are hard to explain in words only.
After I read the book, I appreciate some examples very much, only some small adjustments have made, the total result would be different. For example, there¡¦s an example is talking about how the product display on the shelf. Stores always place the products in a very high shelf which customers are difficult to get the one on that top of the shelf. This would waste resources if customers have to ask the staff for help in every time. So that, the store place a ladder near the shelf which the customers could get the product themselves.
The most interesting example in the book is talking about the dessert¡XBanana. The dessert is not a very special one, but it is very expensive and many customers come to the restaurant just for this dessert. This is because the dessert was made in front of the customers. This special serving way creates an extraordinary experience to the customers, and this the dessert seems has a special value to the customers.
To turning the ordinary products into extraordinary experience, one of the critical points is trying to understand the customers¡¦ needs and provide something exceed the customers¡¦ expectation which could delight the customer and make a memorable experience to the customers.

Book Description
Everyone has heard about animals that are now extinct. But author Bradley Trevor Greive wants everyone to learn about animals that can be saved'and then to do something about it.In inspiring narrative and striking photographs of everything from humpback whales to pigmy possums to African spoonbills, Greive and wildlife photographer Mitsuaki Iwago spell out Earth's diverse animal inventory. They highlight species that once were plentiful but now are scarce'some that are now sadly extinct'and point out specific dangers that other animals face. The authors also present a call to action: 'To preserve our home and the priceless creatures that dwell within it you need only see the world as it is and have a vision of how it could be.' Priceless is a must-have book for everyone interested in the environment, biodiversity, and in all life on Earth

Inspirational... .......2007-01-24
This is truly a wonderful book with incredible wildlife photos accompanied by a simple yet poignant narrative highlighting the need for conservation.
"In the end, we will conserve only what we love and we will love only what we understand." BABA DIOUM
A Priceless Reminder.......2006-07-09
This is a beautifully photographed book and the language that accompanies these images is heartfelt. This is a must have book in every home and classroom.
A Celebration of Our Environment.......2006-02-13
The combination of breath-taking photography, and insightful and inspiring prose create an awesome yet humbling book. Its appeal is universal--everyone can learn, if we listen to its message.
I Love This Book.......2005-08-19
This book is one of the simplest, yet one of the most inspiring and enjoyable books I have ever read. The photography in it is amazing and Greive deffinately has a way with his words. In addition to this intriging visiual presentation, there is much to learn in this book as well. Learn about endangered and threatened animals thoughout the world while looking at unique images of them. This is a must read for everyone and it should be a required book for schools throughout the world to read instead of many other required books that have no appeal to students.
In addition, on the inside cover it reads, "BTG (author) is donating all his author royalties from the worldwide sales of Priceless to his principal wildlife conservation charity, the Taronga Foundation." Thats gotta say something about the book in itself!!!
My favourite book of wildlife photography.......2003-10-26
Reading through Priceless is a bittersweet experience. It is a joy to look at the wonderful photography of Mitsuaki Iwago, and also a joy to learn amazing facts about some of these animals and to detect the passion for conservation and wildlife protection in author Bradley Trevor Greive's text. But there is a sadness: we learn how difficult it is for most species to adapt to the vast changes made by humans to this planet, so difficult that many of them could not do it, and no longer exist.
We learn that "even polar bears from the Arctic Circle and penguins from Antarctica, creatures from the two most isolated and pure economic systems on earth, have a substantial build-up of toxic industrial chemicals stored in their fat deposits"; we learn that the first bomb dropped on Berlin during the Second World War killed the only elephant in the Berlin zoo; that the last passenger pigeon in existence died in the Cincinnati Zoo in 1914. The most important lesson from the book, however, is that if we don't do something soon to stop poisoning our world, ultimately us humans will be the ones suffering.
But the book ends with a message of hope, telling us that there are ways we can make a difference and giving suggestions of things we can do. Greive finally pays tribute to Gerald Durrell, celebrated zoologist, conservationist and author. The last 25 pages give information and facts about all the animals featured in the photographs throughout the book.
I strongly feel that if everyone read through this book, they would appreciate their planet a little more and want to help things change for the better. If I could afford to do so I would give it to everyone I know. It is very easy to read, the text on each page limited to a few sentences which apply to the photographs. The photos range from light-hearted and whimsical to completely awe-inspiring. The perfect gift for animal lovers and environmentalists, but I urge everyone to take a look. It is an inspiring experience.

Book Description
The official claim stated the priceless treasure was destroyed in the aftermath of World War II, but an obscure document in an East German file may tell another story for-The Amber Room
It was a legendary room an ensemble of precious eighteenth-century wall panels that graced a tsarist palace in St. Petersburg. Then it was stolen by Nazi invaders and carried off to a castle in East Prussia. Called by some the "eighth wonder of the world," the treasure was last seen in 1945 during the chaotic scramble of men and borders during the end of World War II. Official statements concluded the Amber Room was destroyed by the ravages of fire, like so much of Europe's art and antiques during the war. The case was closed.
But while the East Germans sang freedom songs before the Stasi headquarters in Leipzig, one man was desperately searching through old Communist files for anything appearing the least bit important. Little did he know that one of the stolen files would contain a forty-seven-year-old document which could possibly reopen the door to the Amber Room.
From their high-priced London antique shop, Alexander Kantor and his assistant Jeffrey Sinclair have made deep contacts into the secret treasure troves of Europe, particularly the former Eastern Bloc nations. With the disappearance of a medieval chalice that carries an unexpected secret, they are pulled into a trail of intrigue and cover-ups that surround the Amber Room.
In the web of deception and danger, even more priceless

If you love history, you'll enjoy this..........2006-11-26
I had never heard of the Amber Room, but I learned a lot about the history of E. Europe after WWII (and during the war). I think this book would be great to follow the Thoene novels such as Vienna Prelude, Warsaw Requiem, etc. I encourage you to read it.
The Original Amber Room.......2003-09-20
I thoroughly enjoyed this insightful book. The topics covered here are enlightening both from a historical as well as a religious perspective.
A Wonderful Christian Fiction Novel.......2001-08-24
I Love this book, in fact the Priceless trilogy is indeed just that - Priceless. The real treasure in this book has nothing to do with amber - the best find of a lifetime is a relationship with God. T. Davis Bunn is a fabulous writer. This book has intrigue, romance and is very enjoyable.
Great Christian Book.......2000-06-28
This was a very interesing book with a plot that kept me on the edge of my seat. Obviously, the other reviewers weren't looking for a good Christain novel. T. Davis Bunn is a Christian author, therefore you should expect all of his books to be very religious. Bunn is one of the best Christian novelists I have ever read!
Boring and misleading.......2000-04-29
Having been fascinated for years by the mystery of the Amber Room, I was really disappointed with this book. The title itself is completely misleading - there's not much about the Amber Room (or very little that anyone reading a few history books couldn't find out for themselves). Instead, what do we get - a lot of detail about some medieval chalice in Poland and a lot of discussion about religion and faith - fine in their place, but not a reason to buy this book. Completely agree with your previous reviewer, Sandra Juqua - I also had to struggle to finish the book. To conclude, there is a book that remains to be written about the Amber Room - however, this is NOT it!

Book Description
The health care industry differs from most other industries in that medical pricing is primarily administered by the government and private insurers and in that it uses several types of contracts. Providers may receive a fixed sum for all necessary services within a given period of time, for the necessary services to treat a given condition, or for each specific service. The industry is changing dramatically, offering many natural experiments to aid understanding of the economics of pricing for health care.
In Pricing the Priceless, Joseph Newhouse explains the different pricing systems and how they affect resource allocation and efficiency, focusing on the efficiency of pricing. He also discusses larger issues of equity, fair distribution of burden, and social justice. Although most of the examples are American-based, the same issues arise in all medical care financing and delivery systems, and the theories and models are general enough to apply to many institutional contexts. The topics include Medicare, managed care, the contemporary integration of health insurance and medical care, the management of moral hazard and stinting, uncertainty and risk aversion, the demand for health insurance, agency relationships, information disparities, regulation, and supply-side and demand-side selection.
