Can I have a weekend in Napa Valley?.......2007-06-27
This book is the story of three friends who decide to go to the Napa valley for a weekend that's just for the girls. However, instead of spending time with the girls, each friend meets up with a man who will change her life.
If I could, I'd give this book 4 ½ stars - for me it's not quite a 5 star book. I think the fact that each woman finds Mr. Perfect and lives happily ever after all in one weekend (for the most part) just stretched it a little too much. But settle back and have some wine - it's definitely a fun steamy read.
Tempt Me - 4 ½ stars
Tempt Me is Carrie's story. Just before leaving for this girl's weekend away, Carrie's boyfriend proposes. Carrie has been dating James for 2 years, changing herself so that she'll be the perfect wife for him. But when he proposes, she realizes that she can't marry him. How could she have been wrong for all this time? After getting to Napa, she decides to take a walk to clear her mind, and finds herself lost in a vineyard and meets up with Tyson. He's everything she's never wanted - but maybe that's just what she needs.
I enjoyed this story, though it seemed it took a while for Carrie to deal with her ex-boyfriend. Tyson has his issues - he's been hurt too. He's not sure that he can trust Carrie. It's fun reading how these two get together.
Taste Me - 5 stars
Rose has always been made to feel fat - from her slender mother to her boyfriends who give her hints that she's eating too much. Always getting dumped, Rose has little faith in herself. In fact, just before this weekend, her boyfriend Elliot dumps her for a slender woman. Never mind that Elliot is a loser - when a loser dumps you, where does that leave you?
Checking in to the hotel, Rose finds out that she's won a weekend of cooking lessons with Jack Gerard, the hot sexy chef at Gerard's restaurant. She wants to cancel - the last thing she needs is cooking lessons! - but Jack won't let her. He takes one look at Rose and can't believe that this voluptuous woman is his for the weekend. He doesn't think she's fat at all - he finds her incredibly sexy. Can he convince Rose?
This was my favorite of the 3 stories. I felt Rose's pain and her lack of confidence with the very sexy Jack. A very fun read.
Tease Me - 3 ½ stars
Vanessa has never had a problem with men or getting what she wants. She's confident with a capital C. While walking in town, she sees a painting that she must have. Sam, the artist, will let her have the painting, if Vanessa will be his muse and allow him to paint her nude. Vanessa has no problem taking off her clothes, but she wants to be more than Sam's muse - she wants him in her bed! However Sam has been burnt before and won't sleep with his muse.
This was my least favorite story of the three. Vanessa seemed very selfish (though we do find out at the end of the story why she is like she is). I guess I just couldn't relate to such a confident woman!
A trio of delectable novellas in Napa.......2007-03-03
I loved this trio of novellas that have strong women and naughty men, My favorite story is that of Touch Me, Vanessa and Sam are HOT. Vanessa is the strongest of the trio of friends, she's gotten everything she wanted by using her allure and beauty, Sam is the first man that trully bafles her because he is immune to her charms. The resulting attractine forces between them is explosive.
Coming on the heels of Touch Me is Taste Me, the novella about rubenesque Rose and Scrumptious Chef Jack. The fact that Jack finds Rose so Sexy is so HOT. I defintely love it.
The first story is about Carrie and Tyler, she just broke up with Mr. Perfect, and regrets it, then she meets Tyler and maybe her ex wasn't as perfect as he seems. Definitely the weakest of the trio of novellas, but still enjoyable.
If you are looking for a sexy, hot read that takes place in gorgeous and romantic NAPA, then this is the anthology for you.
three terrific erotic romances .......2007-01-06
"Tempt Me". Carrie rejects wealthy James' proposal of marriage. Instead she goes into wine country with her best friends Rose and Vanessa. In Napa she meets winemaker Tyson who to her delight and shock she wants to join in his "cave".
"Taste Me". Though dumping Elliot at a monster truck rally, Rose feels good about herself and her voluptuous build as she relaxes at the Napa Valley Hotel and Spa. When she wins the grand prize of a private cooking session with renowned Chef Jack, it is not food they crave when they meet.
"Touch Me". Vanessa sees a painting that she wants to buy, but Sam the artist refuses to give her money for it. Instead he demands much more from her as he knows instantly he must paint her. He asks for three days to paint her portrait and in return the painting is hers. What he hides from her is that he knows he has found his lifetime muse even if she denies love exists; he has three days to persuade her otherwise.
These are three terrific erotic romances starring full blooded (well the males in many scenes have the blood rushing to their lower heads) characters who turn this into a Bella delightful compilation.

Tempt Me, Taste Me, Touch Me.......2007-01-06
Tempt Me:
The next day after dumping her seemingly perfect boyfriend, Carrie and her friends take a trip to the Napa Valley. While her ex seemed perfect until the moment he proposed, the closer she gets to the wine country, the more Carrie realizes how close she came to making a huge mistake. And when Carrie meets, Tyson, a handsome winemaker, she sees what perfect really is.
Taste Me:
Full-figured Rose knows what it feels like to be dumped. Just before her trip to the Napa Valley, her boyfriend dumps her for a much thinner woman. When she arrives at the hotel, she is surprised to win a weekend of cooking lessons with the delectable chef, Jack Gerard. And Jack finds Rose's voluptuous curves delicious.
Touch Me:
Vanessa knows what she wants and knows how to get it. When she sees a painting she desires, she'll stop at nothing to get it. If it means taking on a gorgeous and sexy artist struggling to show his immunity to her wiles, so be it.
Tempt Me, Taste Me, Touch Me by Bella Andre is a collection of three erotically charged novellas that will leave you panting for more! I devoured all three in the course of an evening and fell asleep with a satisfied smile on my face. I loved them all. Of the three, my favorite was Taste Me. I am a fan of rubenesque heroines and adore the men that love them. In Touch me, Taste Me, Touch Me, Bella Andre delivers three erotic novellas that appeal to the romantic in us all.

Good characters but sags in the middle.......2007-07-17
Cross does a good job of building her characters. However, the book sags in the middle. She takes the easy way out too often and overuses cliches.
Boring and a waste of time.......2007-05-26
English regency novel set in 1820. Iris loves Lucas but tries to break their engagement because she believes she has a bad reputation that will hurt him. He doesn't care but she still tries to leave him. Too many conflicts occur due to innacurate assumptions between Irisa and Lucas, and neither one of them clarifies for the other. Too many boring conversations. The author spends too much time with the thoughts of the characters going back and forth about what to do or what to think. I skimmed several parts of the book to get through the tediousness. It was a waste of time. I wish I had never read it. Sexual content: strong.
Tempt Me (Berkley Sensation).......2007-05-16
Again Lucy Monroe out did herself. You must read. You will not be able to put the book down until your done reading.
Love it! Love it! Love it!!.......2007-04-05
I love Lucy Monroe's work! I loved this trilogy ~ Touch Me, Tempt Me, Take Me. The characters are so well written and the plots are fantastic. I truly enjoyed the story of Lucas and Irisa in this second book, Tempt Me. I encourage all readers of historical romances to check out these books!

Book Description
Adrian St. Claire, the sexy chef at the Pearl Island Bamp;B, is as tempting as the dishes he serves. In fact, he's never had a woman tell him no--until his family needs help searching for a legendary heirloom on the sunken ship in the island's cove. To find the treasure they need the help of a woman whose history is as linked as theirs to the island's romantic past.As the owner of the Pirate's Pleasure, Jackie Taylor is far more interested in running her cruise ship along the Texas coast than in chasing tales of lost booty, and even less interested in tangling with a man who collects female admirers just by walking down the street. On top of that, helping the St. Claires could dredge up secrets she'd like to remain buried.Enticed by Jackie's resistance, Adrian soon has something more than treasure hunts and casual flirtation in mind....and he's not a man who takes no for an answer. But will they each have the courage to risk their hearts for the greatest treasure of all--falling in love?

FInished.......2007-03-09
I was glad to read the third in the trilogy. I enjoyed it as much as the others. I love the whole family and felt like I knew them. I would have to say that jackie's character was the weakest of any in the trilogy, but still enjoyable. I wish it could continue!
great new author.......2007-02-08
I really enjoyed reading this and all the rest of Julie Ortolon's books.
I am hooked on this author !! She wrote 2 trilogys and like all trilogys the 2nd is never as great as the first or third, can't wait for her to write more !!
Final book of the Pearl Island Series.......2006-01-30
This novel will knock your socks off. I enjoyed this in less than one day. It has a mix of ghosts, treasure hunts, romance and real life. Adrian is the oldest brother, chief and hunk who finds someone who doesn't fall at his feet. Jackie is a the daughter the con-artist who tests Andrian every chance she can get. The romance takes over a year to develope - a nice change. Buy all three and enjoy the treasure hunt.
Sweet conclusion to the Pearl Island trilogy.......2005-08-11
Adrian St. Claire is the chef of a B&B on an island just off the coast of Galveston. After repeated attempts to get pleasure boat captain Jackie Taylor to help them locate a family heirloom, Adrian decides to do it in person.
Jackie reluctantly enters into the partnership, warning him that her participation and difficulty in living down the legend of her treasure-seeking and now deceased (and disgraced) father may cause problems. While the head of the excavation wants no part of her, Adrian and the St. Claire's stand by her.
Adrian has stayed on Pearl Island to take care of his 2 sisters when the three were orphaned at a young age. He has always been a little antsy and wonders what if he would have pursued his dreams outside of Texas.
Soon, Adrian is romancing a hesitant Jackie, and she succumbs to his charms. When the opportunity to follow is dreams comes up, and his association with Jackie is questioned, Adrian has some important decisions to make.
The story is engaging and had great chemistry. It was a great end to the Pearl Island trilogy and will serve as a nice diversion from work for an afternoon or two.
My Favorite St. Claire Book!.......2004-05-04
Of course when you are talking about the three St. Claire books by Julie Ortolon, it's hard to pick just one. I think (personally) I did like "DON'T TEMPT ME" the most, because Adrian St. Claire is one hot man! And the Heroine, Jackie is a perfect match for him.
Ms. Ortolon has woven the perfect romance with some fascinating folklore. I have no idea if Lafitte's treasure is real or not - - but Julie has made it so "real" in her writing that I'm ready to get my diving certification and go a-hunting!
The characters, Adrian and Jackie have some terrific by-play. I absolutely loved Jackie's come-backs to Adrian's teasing. There are parts that will make you laugh out loud!
And lets not forget the romance! Ahh--mazing! This is one sexy book when it comes down to the hero and heroine finally getting "together!" Ms. Ortolon should have issued fans with that brownie recipe! It's Hot!
Get the whole set of three....read them all! You'll love 'em!

Tempt Me .......2007-07-24
John Taggart has been tracking Genevieve Bowen for the past three months but so far she has eluded him.
Genevieve is on the run trying to prevent being called as a witness to testify against her brother Seth in court. Genevieve knows her brother is innocent but circumstances will make her brother appear guilty of killing his best friend, so she is on the run desperately trying to get help.
John works with his brothers in their security company Steele Security and he has been hired by the parents of the man Seth is accused of murdering to get Genevieve back.
Just when John thinks he has her, Genevieve turns the tables on him and he finds himself the captive instead of the captor. Then their unstoppable desire for each other has the circumstances changing once again. John finds himself not just giving in to his desires for Genevieve, but also hearing her side of the story.
John makes a decision about how to help Genevieve, but his chance is destroyed when in his absence, Genevieve is taken to jail and her fate is sealed. Now with the help of his brothers, John will do whatever it takes to help her and bring her back to him.
Tempt Me is fantastic! It has some mystery and a bit of action, but what really got me, was John and Genevieve themselves. John, who can barely crack a smile, gets his life back because of sweet Genevieve, and Genevieve is given the gift of pleasure from John. They each have strong and compelling personalities. As a couple they took my breath away. There is a powerful chemistry between these two. Genevieve is so responsive to John, that I felt they really are soul mates. Tempt Me is a well-written story full of heartwarming romance and searing passion. I loved it!

Real characters, but drags in the middle........2007-07-17
Cross does a good job of building her characters and defining a sense of place. However, several chapters in the middle could have been cut.
She's done it again!.......2006-02-24
After blazing throuhg Trust Me, one of my favorite reads in years, I was anxious to start Tempt Me, Caroline Cross's second book in the Men of Steel series. I couldn't have been more thrilled - it actually lives up to the success of the first book and takes the reader in an entirely new direction! While the action in this story is confined to a bed in a mountain cabin, Cross manages to pack just as much heat and intensity into this romance as she does into her jungle trek in Trust Me. For any avid reader, it's a riot to watch Genevieve use a how-to-book to evade the military-trained Taggart. And for any woman who's tried to figure out a man, John Taggart Steele exemplifies why they are worth all the trouble! Caroline Cross has really outdone herself with this series - I'm dying to know when #3 will hit stores!
'He scowled as part of him that was unapologetically male whispered PRETTY.'-P. 32.......2006-02-23
The book sparkles with gems like the above quote. John Taggert Steele's assignment is to track down and retrieve a missing witness, Genevieve Bowen. When he finally captures her in a remote cabin, he ends up her prisoner, thanks to a deer, some chain and a snowstorm.
Caroline Cross's writing reminds me a little of Shannon McKenna's dialogue (Standing in the Shadows). Here's a sample scene that captures some of the best qualities of the book--Genevieve is trying to provoke a snowball fight:
"While he sounded mightily aggravated, he couldn't entirely suppress the slight twitch at the corner of his mouth.
She took it as a hopeful sign. 'The way you're getting all pissy? I think that makes you what my friend Arnold calls a girlie man.'
Her gleeful insult did it."
John Taggert's appropriately alpha. Genevieve is considerably more capable than most heroines without losing her feminity. It's tough to show these qualities rather than just telling the reader to take them as articles of faith.
Given the constraint of 179 pages, the author does a remarkable job in creating strong characters and an absorbing situation. If the format had been longer, the plot might have been more complex. And if Miss Cross isn't a one trick pony, she could be--soon--on the best seller list next to Linda Howard or Susan Elizabeth Phillips. At a minimum, this book is a great value for your romance book dollar.

Now sworn to protect her, he fights his attraction to the spirited young woman. Although Kate wants nothing to do with the scoundrel who had once scorned her, Gabriel is the only man who can help her recover a priceless artifact stolen from her late father. Customer Reviews:
Great!.......2002-09-15
Gabriel Kenyon returns from Africa seeking revenge on the man who killsed his partner. He also finds himself responsible for his parner's daughters. But he'd rather face the wilds of Africa than face Kate Talisford, a girl he's sworn to protect...a girl he longs to possess. As Kate and Gabriel search for her father's killer and a priceless statue, they find that maybe the true treasure is the bond that they're forging...a bond that could be love.
Barbara Dawson Smith tells a fantastic historical story, full of intrigue, fun and of course, love.
terrible disappointment but should've known.......2002-01-29
The official reviewers panned this romance, but because just about everything Smith has written has been at least passable, I thought they were being too harsh. Not so!
The hero is neither likeable nor intriguing, and the story leaden and choppy. Stay away from this one. Try her best stories instead, in my opinion, Never a Lady and Her Secret Affair (if you like the reluctant male lover type!).
Tempting indeed!.......2002-01-22
This is a wonderful romantic adventure with a plot and pace that never let up as orphaned Kate plunges into a wild search involving an ancient Egyptian icon and a truly chilling group of Regency bad guys. Gabriel is the perfect hero--reluctant, sexy and ultimately redeemed by the love of a good woman. Barbara Dawson Smith is one of the most consistently excellent authors in the genre.
Not Her Best.......2001-11-25
In 1812 England, Kate Talisford and her younger sister, Meg, are forced to move to a smaller dwelling after the death of their father, Professor Henry Talisford. Both girls are startled when Lord Gabriel Kenyon appears on their doorstep after accompanying their father on his expedition to Africa four years prior. Kate is especially embarrassed, recalling her previous declaration of undying love for Gabriel and promised seduction if he would convince her father to abandon his expedition. But Gabriel hasn't forgotten Kate and finds her more attractive than he did four years ago.
As he informs the girls that he is now their guardian, he warns them away from Sir Charles Damson. Gabe believes that Sir Charles is responsible for Henry's death and subsequent theft of a valuable artifact that Henry discovered. Romantic tension sizzles between Gabriel and Kate as Meg and Kate accompany Gabriel to his grandmother's estate and begin their search for the missing artifact.
Though the love scenes are sufficiently steamy, the romance seems a little contrived as Gabriel hardly seems the type of man to carry a torch for a sixteen-year-old girl for four years and then give up his wandering for her. And, while Yasmin's reappearance in England could tie up some loose ends and supply some angst to Gabe and Kate's relationship, the reader is left in the dark concerning the exotic Yasmin's seduction of Gabriel and subsequent association with Sir Charles. Fans of this author will recognize Gabriel as the younger brother of Michael, the hero in ROMANCING THE ROGUE. Avid readers of Ms. Dawson Smith shouldn't be too disappointed with her latest read, but it probably won't generate a lot of new fans.
You Can Do Better, Barbara!.......2001-11-24
I have always purchased Barbara Dawson Smith's books, sight unseen, but this is the last time. Tempt Me Twice has a potentially interesting character in Gabriel Kenyon, but there is not enough depth of character that endears or excites the reader towards lusting after him, as our dear, sweet heroine, Kate supposedly does. Most of all, enough with those dull Rosebuds! If you want a sensational Barbara Dawson Smith book, try Too Wicked to Love. It is sensational! And funny and very character driven--and one of the best Regencies I have ever read! And Barbara, I am hoping with your next book, you will win me over once again.

Sam's vivid imagination has Rick performing under cover work with her and that makes this a fine tale that readers will enjoy.

Very good, despite the 'sheep shearing' lessons!.......2006-01-08
Just call this book 'Sheep Shearing 101' or "Everything You Always Wanted To Know About Sheep Shearing But Were Afraid To Ask".
This was to me like the smuggling plot was in "Captain Jack's Woman" by Stephanie Laurens -- why do we need to know all these details, when there is a story to be told???
The hero was great, I liked how he ignored the other occupants of the castle's thoughts in regards to his lady-love's looks, or lack thereof. The heroine was a schemer, with the best of intentions, however, she had a secret that nearly destroyed their relationship near the end of the book.
All in all, it was a good book. On the 1-10 scale, I'd give it a
9.6 or so.
engaging character study in a historical romantic story.......2002-04-04
Lord Carodoc of Llanstephan Fawr does not have to look at the near empty hayloft to know his estate is in trouble and wonders when King Richard will take the castle from him for failure to pay taxes, a deed he has not done in months. Though he would prefer to flee from his responsibilities, Carodoc vows to remain and do everything he can to turn the property solvent until His Highness takes it away.
na MacDougal, daughter of a Scottish wool merchant who died two months ago, arrives with a proposition. She will pay off the royal arrears if Carodoc marries her. She says she wants a titled husband with no previous children and he needs her dowry. Reluctantly, Carodoc agrees, but seals the deal with a passionate kiss. As they fall in love both shares in common feelings of inadequacy and they feel undeserving of one other.
The historical romantic story line of TEMPT ME WITH KISSES is more of a character study than the usual action-packed tale. The readers observe first hand the doubts of the lead protagonists as they struggle to make their relationship succeed even as Carodoc and Fiona are weighed down by personal baggage that threatens to destroy their marriage. Fans who relish an insightful look at the primary couple will enjoy Margaret Moore's marvelous romantic narrative, but readers who need plenty of action should look elsewhere.

Customer Reviews:
Seunsous and very well written.......2007-10-01
After discovering that her long time beau Joe cheated on her the night before she left for college, Trish vowed never to see him again. Now a lawyer, she returns home 14 years later to help her parents sell their diner and runs into a very sexy grown up Joe. At first she keeps him at arm's length, but soon figures that the best way to get him out of her system is to seduce him and send him packing, but Joe has other ideas. The two start a no-strings relationship (though Joe would like nothing more than to finally settle down with the only woman he's ever loved), but soon Trish's heart is into it as well. Her only solace is fixing up the diner to make it a more lucrative property. Joe figures that the best way to capture her heart is to show her he's changed and how much he regrets the night he let his hormones get the best of him. Will she return to Indianapolis when the diner is complete or will she throw caution to the wind and open her heart again?
Anything penned by Blake is sure to be a scorcher - this is no different. Her ability to tell a sensual and plot driven story and using realistic dialogue to make it more genuine is a rarity. Joe is a realistic and flawed hero - his relationship to pseudo daughter Carissa is heartwarming. Blake (and her erotica pseudonym "Lacey Alexander") have quickly become automatic buys due to her consistently great writing and attention to detail - the facts about the Shelby made it ring even more authentic. The only gripe I had was the cover photo - instead of a thirty something couple, they look more like a couple teens.
5 Klovers - Courtesy of CK2S Kwips & Kritiques.......2007-09-21
It's been fourteen years. The only reason Trish has returned home is to help her parents sell the family business. Once they've settled into retirement, she'll return to her life in Chicago and her job as a high-profile lawyer. The very last thing she wants to do while in Eden is to run into her old boyfriend, Joe Ramsey. Yeah, that Joe Ramsey - the one who broke her heart all those years ago.
But run into him she does, and way too soon for comfort. Seeing the sexy man Joe has grown into just once brings out the inner biker chick she never even knew she had. Trish can't ignore the feelings she still has for Joe, but she can never trust him again, so she decides on the only sane course of action - love him and leave him. Take what she wants and have her revenge while indulging that inner biker chick. If only it were that simple... Neither Joe nor her heart will let her off that easily!
When the synopsis for Tempt Me Tonight landed in my email box, I knew it sounded interesting, but having read the book now, I do not believe any mere blurb could do this story justice. The depth of emotion and heartbreak Blake conveys with the simplest strokes of her keyboard go far beyond mere words and strike into your very soul. I've never read Toni Blake before, but with one single title, she has made it onto my list of favorite authors on my website. Indeed, I am very excited that I have another of this author's titles already waiting on my book shelf for review next month.
The heroine, Trish, resonated with me on so many levels. If a Word document could be tear stained, I guarantee you this review would be. I cried many times - in all the right places, and from several different emotions. Trish's heartbreak and inability to easily trust love - especially with the very man who devastated her so many years ago was something I could identify with. To be perfectly frank, I wasn't sure Blake could find a way to resolve Trish's feelings regarding Joe in a way that would satisfy the cynic in me. Not only did Toni Blake manage to resolve those feelings, she did it in such a way that I found myself reevaluating my own romantic tenets and wondering about past boyfriends who I was unwilling to give second chances to after major break-ups. Trish is so full of fear, which is in direct conflict with her need to be loved and to love Joe with everything she has. In truth, she never stopped loving him, and the pent-up emotion finds its way to the surface in a torrent of passion that is unstoppable. Of course, who would really want to stop it when it makes for such a fantastic read? LOL
Joe is something unexpected - a hero who totally screwed up the first time around, but is willing to face his mistakes and will do anything to make restitution and win Trish's heart and trust all over again. Sound like a pushover? Not Joe - no sirree. Joe is every bit the strong alpha-male type with the ability to sweep both Trish and the reader off their feet with just a crook of his little finger.
What I look for in a great book is characters I can believe and empathize with as well as a story that rings true. Tempt Me Tonight is not only all of those things, but is also a book that leaves me searching my own soul and heart wondering how to remove at least a few bricks in my own walls. When a book not only evokes deep emotions in me but prompts a willingness to change, it is a book I know I will treasure for years to come.

Wonderfully crafted romance historical series!.......2006-08-21
The storyline is generally about Jillian and Max (future duke of Basset) who practically grew up together with Max being the best friend of Jillian's brother - Damian (future duke of Westbrook). The two ducal families (Basset and Westbrook) has for centuries been great friends who has made it a tradition to "watch each other's backs". Jillian grew up loving Max without his knowledge. While Max watches over Jillian like an overprotective brother until circumstances forced him to acknowledge that his little "Pandora" has blossomed into one of the most exquisite sought-after debutante in London. It was exactly this popularity which leads to an incident that brought upon a forced marriage between the two, threatening centuries-old traditions and more importantly a cherished friendship between the two powerful dukes. There are two main things I loved about this book.
Firstly, unlike the average historical romance which focuses only on the present predicament, this book spans over a longer period of time. It tells the story from Jillian's birth; it details Max and Jillian's interaction over the growing years and the circumstances which builds up to their marriage. Eve Byron has taken her time to build the foundations at the beginning which enables her reader to understand the characters' actions when they found themselves in their current situation. I certainly wouldn't have sympathised with Max's cruel behaviour towards Jillian had I not been exposed to his childhood experiences. I could have easily hated Max's indifference and squirmed at Jillian's lack of pride in her pursuit of his love. Instead my heart went out to Max - the lonely, loveless boy hidden behind the handsome haughty mask of the Duke of Basset and I could not help but admire Jillian's courage. It was very refreshing to read about a heroine who has her priorities in order - love first before pride. Most headstrong heroine I've read, go through unreasonable lengths to defy the hero because of pride. This character however has the honesty, vibrancy and unrelenting hope - exactly what the hero needed.
Secondly, the secondary characters in this book are not just there to populate and enliven the story. These characters are not after-thoughts but are crucial parts which make the story whole. Even though Damian and Bruce each have their own stories and this book hints at what might transpire, they are not sub-plots which detracts from the romance between Max and Jillian. The intricate thread which weaves the lives of these secondary characters to the main characters doesn't just add to the story but actually completes it.
I read Byron's second book first - "Tempt me not" which is Damian's story. I enjoyed it so much that I searched around to see if it's part of a series. Whilst I love Damian's story as much as Max's, I however did not see the brilliance of this series until I've read this book. The time period in the second book doesn't just follow on from the first one as in most romance series. Some periods actually overlap and events which happened in the first book are retold in the second book but from a different character's point of view. It was brilliantly done such that while one book can be read on its own without any loss to the story, reading the second doesn't just provide the same information but adds another dimension to the same event. The second book gives insight to what the other characters (which were secondary in the first book) are thinking and feeling at that exact time and the circumstances which led them to that precise moment. So to those who read this book, I highly recommend reading the rest of the trilogy. I haven't read Bruce's story yet and I'm dying to read it now that I've had a taste of the first two instalments.
Just a note though, some readers may find the first half of the book a bit slow having used to reading books which goes straight to the crisis at hand after only a few pages of introduction. However I advise that you persevere and savour the slow build up leading to the climatic events as this will only deepen your appreciation of the outcome.
The first in the "Me Not" series.......2006-01-08
I loved this book, from start to finish. One of my very favorite scenes in any of the romance books I've read in the past year & a half is in this book -- the balcony scene! It is not to be missed, it is that good. I laughed so hard, I thought I'd break a rib.
This book is great by itself, though it excellently sets the stage for the next 2 in the series.

Will Touch Your Heart!!.......2004-11-21
I recently re-read this classic love story and decided to share my thoughts with fellow romance readers. This story is sweet and Jillian and Max will touch your heart as they find love and learn to accept love. These characters are truly multi-dimensional and their story is amazinly tender and sweet.
If you are looking to read a romance that is not all heat and attraction then pick up this classic romance from a very talented author. You won't be sorry I promise.

Truly One Of The Best Historical Romances I've Ever Read!!!.......2003-07-09
Set in Regency England
Damien and Max are both sons of Dukes and best friends. The Duke of Basset and the Duke of Westbury have always watched each other's backs through out history. Jillian is Damien's sister. All through her life she has considered Max to be part of her family but when she gets older she discovers that she also has come to love him as a woman. Max has watched Jillian grow up from a child and now he has noticed her as a woman. Circumstances find Max and Jillian in a passionate embrace by Damien who demands that Max never come to their home again. Jillian sees her family being torn apart and takes drastic measures to keep it intact. She allows her encounter with Max to become public knowledge so that Max will be forced to marry her. She knows he loves her but now she's just got to get him to admit to it. Plus she has to get Damien and Max to be family again. I could not put this book down! I read it in one afternoon it was so good! The characters are richly drawn and you get involved with them very quickly! This one's a keeper for sure!!

Great Great Read...Looking to buy more of this authors books........2006-07-06
Two books in one and a great surprise. The surprise was how satisfying the stories were. Neither story left you feeling like you missed something, these were two complete stories that were interwoven together. Now i'm looking to see if some of the characters have their own books somewhere. These stories were great and the characters were wonderful. Been a long time since i actually laughed out loud while reading a romance.
