4 out of 5 stars Can I have a weekend in Napa Valley?.......2007-06-27

This book is the story of three friends who decide to go to the Napa valley for a weekend that's just for the girls. However, instead of spending time with the girls, each friend meets up with a man who will change her life.

If I could, I'd give this book 4 ½ stars - for me it's not quite a 5 star book. I think the fact that each woman finds Mr. Perfect and lives happily ever after all in one weekend (for the most part) just stretched it a little too much. But settle back and have some wine - it's definitely a fun steamy read.

Tempt Me - 4 ½ stars

Tempt Me is Carrie's story. Just before leaving for this girl's weekend away, Carrie's boyfriend proposes. Carrie has been dating James for 2 years, changing herself so that she'll be the perfect wife for him. But when he proposes, she realizes that she can't marry him. How could she have been wrong for all this time? After getting to Napa, she decides to take a walk to clear her mind, and finds herself lost in a vineyard and meets up with Tyson. He's everything she's never wanted - but maybe that's just what she needs.

I enjoyed this story, though it seemed it took a while for Carrie to deal with her ex-boyfriend. Tyson has his issues - he's been hurt too. He's not sure that he can trust Carrie. It's fun reading how these two get together.

Taste Me - 5 stars

Rose has always been made to feel fat - from her slender mother to her boyfriends who give her hints that she's eating too much. Always getting dumped, Rose has little faith in herself. In fact, just before this weekend, her boyfriend Elliot dumps her for a slender woman. Never mind that Elliot is a loser - when a loser dumps you, where does that leave you?

Checking in to the hotel, Rose finds out that she's won a weekend of cooking lessons with Jack Gerard, the hot sexy chef at Gerard's restaurant. She wants to cancel - the last thing she needs is cooking lessons! - but Jack won't let her. He takes one look at Rose and can't believe that this voluptuous woman is his for the weekend. He doesn't think she's fat at all - he finds her incredibly sexy. Can he convince Rose?

This was my favorite of the 3 stories. I felt Rose's pain and her lack of confidence with the very sexy Jack. A very fun read.

Tease Me - 3 ½ stars

Vanessa has never had a problem with men or getting what she wants. She's confident with a capital C. While walking in town, she sees a painting that she must have. Sam, the artist, will let her have the painting, if Vanessa will be his muse and allow him to paint her nude. Vanessa has no problem taking off her clothes, but she wants to be more than Sam's muse - she wants him in her bed! However Sam has been burnt before and won't sleep with his muse.

This was my least favorite story of the three. Vanessa seemed very selfish (though we do find out at the end of the story why she is like she is). I guess I just couldn't relate to such a confident woman!

5 out of 5 stars A trio of delectable novellas in Napa.......2007-03-03

I loved this trio of novellas that have strong women and naughty men, My favorite story is that of Touch Me, Vanessa and Sam are HOT. Vanessa is the strongest of the trio of friends, she's gotten everything she wanted by using her allure and beauty, Sam is the first man that trully bafles her because he is immune to her charms. The resulting attractine forces between them is explosive.
Coming on the heels of Touch Me is Taste Me, the novella about rubenesque Rose and Scrumptious Chef Jack. The fact that Jack finds Rose so Sexy is so HOT. I defintely love it.
The first story is about Carrie and Tyler, she just broke up with Mr. Perfect, and regrets it, then she meets Tyler and maybe her ex wasn't as perfect as he seems. Definitely the weakest of the trio of novellas, but still enjoyable.
If you are looking for a sexy, hot read that takes place in gorgeous and romantic NAPA, then this is the anthology for you.

5 out of 5 stars three terrific erotic romances .......2007-01-06

"Tempt Me". Carrie rejects wealthy James' proposal of marriage. Instead she goes into wine country with her best friends Rose and Vanessa. In Napa she meets winemaker Tyson who to her delight and shock she wants to join in his "cave".

"Taste Me". Though dumping Elliot at a monster truck rally, Rose feels good about herself and her voluptuous build as she relaxes at the Napa Valley Hotel and Spa. When she wins the grand prize of a private cooking session with renowned Chef Jack, it is not food they crave when they meet.

"Touch Me". Vanessa sees a painting that she wants to buy, but Sam the artist refuses to give her money for it. Instead he demands much more from her as he knows instantly he must paint her. He asks for three days to paint her portrait and in return the painting is hers. What he hides from her is that he knows he has found his lifetime muse even if she denies love exists; he has three days to persuade her otherwise.

These are three terrific erotic romances starring full blooded (well the males in many scenes have the blood rushing to their lower heads) characters who turn this into a Bella delightful compilation.

5 out of 5 stars Tempt Me, Taste Me, Touch Me.......2007-01-06

Tempt Me:

The next day after dumping her seemingly perfect boyfriend, Carrie and her friends take a trip to the Napa Valley. While her ex seemed perfect until the moment he proposed, the closer she gets to the wine country, the more Carrie realizes how close she came to making a huge mistake. And when Carrie meets, Tyson, a handsome winemaker, she sees what perfect really is.

Taste Me:

Full-figured Rose knows what it feels like to be dumped. Just before her trip to the Napa Valley, her boyfriend dumps her for a much thinner woman. When she arrives at the hotel, she is surprised to win a weekend of cooking lessons with the delectable chef, Jack Gerard. And Jack finds Rose's voluptuous curves delicious.

Touch Me:

Vanessa knows what she wants and knows how to get it. When she sees a painting she desires, she'll stop at nothing to get it. If it means taking on a gorgeous and sexy artist struggling to show his immunity to her wiles, so be it.

Tempt Me, Taste Me, Touch Me by Bella Andre is a collection of three erotically charged novellas that will leave you panting for more! I devoured all three in the course of an evening and fell asleep with a satisfied smile on my face. I loved them all. Of the three, my favorite was Taste Me. I am a fan of rubenesque heroines and adore the men that love them. In Touch me, Taste Me, Touch Me, Bella Andre delivers three erotic novellas that appeal to the romantic in us all.

“Ms. Jordan proves herself a marvelous storyteller.”
–Rendezvous

Blaise St. James, her violet eyes blazing with resolve and her raven-haired allure disguised under drab servants’ clothes, flees her privileged life rather than be married off to some unfeeling English gentleman. But after encountering Julian Morrow, Viscount Lynden, she is caught in his spell.

With the face and form of an Adonis, and the charisma that comes only with wealth and good breeding, Julian is undoubtedly an aristocrat. Yet his soul bears the scars of war and of a woman’s treachery, and his searing blue eyes speak with a passion that belies his noble blood. Blaise trembles at his very touch, helpless to his sensual kisses. He will have her–whether she is the innocent runaway she claims to be, or the skilled seductress he suspects. But his proposal is not one a gentleman makes to a lady. . . .

4 out of 5 stars Marvelous.......2007-05-30

Half American Blaise is being forced by her shrewish English aunt to go visit an older vicar that her aunt intends to try and marry her off to but Blaise is determined that if she marries it will be for love, certainly not to some stuffy cold-fish Englishman. She trades places with a maid and when she sneaks into a room to disguise herself with ashes she encounters a viscount with an adonis face named Julian. Julian is fascinated with the spirited violet eyed girl. He has returned from Spain where he received injuries to his face and leg which has left him with a significant limp. Julian is haunted by the image of his first wife laying dead on a Roman ruin site after a riding accident. His first wife was cheating on him and after they argued, she took off in a storm and he later found her dead. All though he didn't harm her, he feels guilty for her death and her lover spread rumors that Julian murdered her. Julian believes that Blaise can bring him back the enjoyment of life and propositions her. Blaise refuses and claims she is the adopted child of a local gypsy tribe. Blaise's deceased father was a reporter who traveled with the tribe and they agree to help her hide from her aunt. A determined Julian follows and vows he will make Blaise his mistress but when her real identity is revealed his offer will have to be marriage.

This is a great story and has plenty of adventure and passion. I kind of got ticked when Julian treated Blaise so awfully because he had to marry her. She told him from the beginning she didn't want him around but he followed her anyway. Just because he thought she was lower class and available for sex without committment doesn't mean she trapped him into anything. However, he does end up compensating for that still makes me mad.

5 out of 5 stars Reissue Touched with Fire.......2007-02-05

Touch Me With Fire is a story that blazes with passion and senuality, as the handsome and charasmatic Julian Morrow, Vicount Lynden pursues the beautiful violet eyed, raven haired, Blaise St. James. Julian, an injured war hero is now home from Spain struggling with not only the deep physical and emotional pains of war, but the struggles and rumors surrounding the death of his first wife, which originally caused him to run off and fight so far away from England. Upon his return home, he happens across young Blaise, dressed as a servant, as she is on the run from her guardians and an unwanted arranged marriage. Julian does not realize Blaise is a "lady" and wants her as his mistress. He offers to take her to her gypsy friends and there in the romantic setting of the gypsy camp pursues her with lust and passion that the young, innocent Blaise struggles with and does not truly understand. Under the guidance and love of her gypsy friends, which are like family to her, she begins to fall in love with Julian. While Julian knows he lusts for Blaise, he struggles with his true feelings of love, as he watches the young, kind, loving Blaise care for him and others in the gypsy camp. He sets many alluring passionate traps for Blaise, who is drawn to this handome, sexy, yet troubled man. Finally he can no longer wait and arranges to have her, only to be caught and discover that she is not truly his firey gyspy, but a "lady" of the ton. He feels betrayed and manipulated and Blaise is confused, as their troubled, sensual marriage begins and the mystery surrounding the death of Julian's first wife begins to unravel to a surprise ending. The book is well-written and researched with strong characters, deep mystery, inner emotional stuggles, passion, desire, and love scenes beautifully written that keep the reader riveted to the page. It was a pleasure to read this book the first time around and it was even more pleasurable to visit it again as a reissue.

5 out of 5 stars I loved this book -- and I thought I wouldn't.......2007-01-24

Julian is a classic tormented hero -- an "alpha" male with a good heart, a scarred face, a gimpy leg, and a young wife who loves him and for whom Julian will do anything, even against his better judgment. Is this your kind of hero? Then try this book. The sex between him and Blaise is hot -- but hey, they're married! Just a very good read, with a smooth style, and lots of gypsy lore. Excellent.

4 out of 5 stars Dark and Brooding men always win my heart.......2006-12-30

Julian was just one of these characters for me. Not only did he have the scars on the outside but he had them within which were worse. He truly needed a spirited Gypsy type like Blaise to bring him out of his inner suffering and make him whole again. At times Blaise seems to be truly beating her head against the wall with Julian. He seems to fight her at every turn although still enjoying her nightly in his bed. She wants to prove to him and to everyone else that he is not the murderer he thinks he is is. She seems to win on all fronts but with Julian himself. At times you just want to shake him as he makes a few steps forward then misunderstands everything and goes off in a sulk to London. She really has to use desperate measures then to get him back. This was a great romance, although not quite as sensual as others, still very good. As usual Jordan delivers.

Book Description

In more than a century since its appearance, José Rizal's Noli Me Tangere has become widely known as the great novel of the Philippines. A passionate love story set against the ugly political backdrop of repression, torture, and murder, “The Noli,” as it is called in the Philippines, was the first major artistic manifestation of Asian resistance to European colonialism, and Rizal became a guiding conscience—and martyr—for the revolution that would subsequently rise up in the Spanish province. BACKCOVER: A beautiful new translation... Rizal's rich, moving novel...[is] perhaps the most important novel in Philippine literature.

This review is for the Spanish edition ONLY which I recently purchased (ISBN:8498160162, publisher: Linkgua). Note, that this is an ABRIDGED EDITION (edición abreviada) and is not true to the original text, this is evident commencing with the first sentence of the book. The reader will get the general idea of the novel, but will not read the words as written be the author.

I submit here an example of the above-mentioned sentence:

ABRIDGED EDITION (ISBN 8498160162):

This editing is consistent throughout every paragraph in the book.

If you just want a good read, then this edition will suffice. It is an excellent novel. However, if you are an admirer of the Spanish language, please get your hands on the original version.

5 out of 5 stars Great Story and Great Glimpse into Filipino Society.......2004-11-06

Being one of the most highly regarded figures in the Philippines, Dr. Jose Rizal is admired as a symbol of Filipinos. His books are well-read in the Philippines, and have been very influential in the history of the Philippines. If nothing else, this book should be read for the historical impact is had and is having on the country. Here are some thoughts on the book.

(1) Though it was written over a century ago, I think the society and mindset of the individual has changed little. Having only lived in the Philippines for about a month, I still recognized many things in the book that seem to be true today. The love of the cockfight, the importance of the family, the corruption of the government, the friendliness of the people, the syncretism of religion, the superstition, and the importance of social status all still appear to be significant parts of the culture today.

(2) Being such a highly esteemed book in the Philippines, it surprised me that it was so anti-Catholic. I truly don't understand or know about the Catholic church today in the Philippines, but this novel expressed a deep resentment toward this religious institution that apparently abused and took advantage of the people of the Philippines. If this was really true, how has Catholicism survived in the Philippines?

(3) The story was great! The plot was interesting, the two heroes of the story (Iberra and Elias) were fun to root for, and the villains of the story were easy to hate (basically the Catholic church).

(4) There were too many characters. I was constantly confusing the different residents of San Diego, and these characters were not well developed. In the first part of the book, I could not keep the different Fathers strait. And in the last part of the book I could not keep the majors and the old women strait.

The book was great and I would recommend it to anyone interested in the Philippines. I think it paints a picture of the culture that can only be painted in narrative. A culture book, or an anthropology book cannot express what Jose Rizal expressed in this novel. I can't wait to read El Filebustermo!

5 out of 5 stars Best History Novel.......2003-11-13

This book is made with patriotism and Rizal's unconditional love to his country and its people. The scenes and stories in this novel describes the life of the filipino people during the Spanish regime in the Philippines. With Rizal's brilliant mind he opened the minds and urges the Filipino people to stand for their own country and how to cure the incurable cancer of our society.

4 out of 5 stars A Melodrama of betrayal for a Life Betrayed.......2003-02-21

The story of "Noli Me Tangere" is one of bitter ironies. It is the first major Filipino novel and one of the first novels in Asia written outside China and Japan. Yet it is written in a European language (Spanish). It is one of the first novels of anti-colonial rebellion, written by a man who was executed by the Spanish just as the country began its fight for independence. In many ways the Philippines more resembles Latin America than its Asian neighbors. Both colonial Philippines and colonial Latin America were dominated by a corrupt, bigoted and dogmatic Catholicism. Both were colonized (more or less) by Spain and both regions had the same tensions between Spaniards, Spaniards born in the colonies, "mixed blood" and the indigenous majority. Both had to suffer the cruelties of a foreign country who looked down at the colonies with contempt. But Spanish never became the vernacular of the Philippines and after the United States' brutal conquest, only a tiny portion of Filipinos can read the founding novel of their own literature. To make things worse, the translation of the novel has been cursed with political malice. As Benedict Anderson pointed out in "The Spectre of Comparisons" the main translation by Leon Guerrero was compromised in a variety of ways. For a start Guerrero, like most of the Filipino ruling class collaborated with the brutal Japanese invaders. Afterwards he was a player in the corrupt, clientele ridden dependent pseudo democracy of the post war years. Rather hostile to the United States, Guerrero's translation subtly and not so subtly bowdlerizes the novel, blunting not only its fierce anti-clericalism and contempt, but also mangling Rizal's unique, cutting tone.

This translation is an improvement, though as Anderson points out, it is by no means perfect. As such one cannot be sure one appreciates Rizal's cunning, knowing, almost proto-modernist attitude towards the reader. As a result what we have may look a lot like a melodrama, as Juan Crisostomo Ibarra confronts grotesque injustices while he is falsely accused and cheated out of his love. Certainly we do not have an exemplar of realism like Rizal's contemporary, Benito Perez Galdos. One might think that the critique of Catholicism is very, very broad. The priests and laity are fanatical about Purgatory, and exploit the inhabitants for money for indulgences that reminds me of the endless loyalty oath campaigns in "Catch-22." They denounce modern education and hamper the building of a necessary school, they are so cruel to Ibarra's father that his corpse ends up dumped in a river, they chortle smugly over the damnation of their enemies. But there is a more cutting satire. Learning of a pogrom against the Chinese population, one character notes that they gave such good gifts for Christmas. If only they could have been killed after New Years. There are elaborate discussions of the many festivals and rituals of the Church that show a real talent for description. There are some fine scenes about being hampered and cursed by a callous bureaucracy and police. This is a novel that deserves a bigger audience and a better translation.

It is well written and straightforward as any self-help book should be. Reading it has given her the confidence to speak up, and that has increased our pleasure a lot. With the help of this book and Viagara we are having the best sex of our lives.

Both books are amazing and must have!

5 out of 5 stars A great guide to orgamic bliss........2007-09-04

The main thing I zeroed in on in this book was the communication factor. Without communication, sex can be a bit dull. However, communicating during sex (or even just talking about it) can be a bit embarrassing. The author really explains how to overcome this and become a better lover, by concentrating on certain "hot spots". I thoroughly enjoyed this one, as it was one of the better sex guides I've read recently. I also liked Sex Machine: A Man's Guide to What Really Pleases a Woman in Bed for the same reasons and would recommend it also.

5 out of 5 stars Lovely characters and sentiment.......2006-10-23

This book was actually much better than I expected. It was somewhat tamer than some of Monroe's books but the characters were wonderful. I loved the fact that the entire story was about the growing relationship between the 2 main characters, Thea and Drake. It was nice, once in a while, to not have a serious secondary story going on that takes you away from the main story. I really came to care about these people and felt their personalities were perfectly developed. A great read.

Thea is an independent woman, working with her Uncle she is a partner in their shipping company, Merewether Shipping. Thea meets Drake when his ship docks at the island she lives on. Drake needs a blacksmith to continue on his journey to London. When Thea and Drake meet it is intense for both of them. She has never felt what she feels for Drake. Drake is deeply attracted to Thea's beauty and unconventional behavior.

Thea needs to get to London so she asks him to take her. Drake reluctantly agrees, afraid that Thea will find out about his past. Thea is hiding secrets as well though. She longs to see the brother she has never met and she is determined to solve the mystery of the funds being pilfered from Merewether Shipping. Very quickly Drake finds himself not just desiring Thea, but admiring her as well. With Drake's help Thea begins the quest to help her uncle. In the process she finds a love she was sure she never wanted.

I adore Touch Me. Both Thea and Drake are such likeable characters. Drake is honorable, handsome and charming. Thea's innocence and intelligence make her endearing. I was completely taken with Touch Me. It has mystery, passion and romance. I really enjoyed reading each chapter's journal entry from Thea's mother as they enhanced the story. The epilogue brought the story full circle and gave it a wonderful feeling of rightness and completion. Touch Me is a heart warming story, one that you will be so glad you read.

3 out of 5 stars "Touch Me" didn't touch me.......2005-12-22

I enjoyed parts of this book, however, it wasn't an memorable read. The characterizations left me a bit cold.

I felt the h/h were one-dimensional and I didn't feel the chemistry there. There was a bit too much "you WILL marry me" "no I won't, but let's make love" parts. It grew ponderous after about the 100th time.

All-in-all, I thought "Touch Me" was an okay read and I will give Lucy Monroe another try.

5 out of 5 stars a powerhouse of emotion and sensuality.......2005-10-03

Thea and Pierson were both wounded, intriguing, complex, wonderful characters. The action/suspense was fast-paced and thrilling. The sex was HOT and perfect for the story. Not only it offers sufficient romance to the end of the book, the characterization, humour, suspense are perfectly blended in a page turner. It is sometimes shock, sometimes hilarious and sometimes sexy. Absolutely highly recommended and one of the best in the genre. I absolutely loved this book. The author has a great gift in her ability to develop characters. Lucy Monroe writing instantly puts you into the scene. She has a good feel for the period, strong, engaging characters. This was just the kind of romance novel I love. Wonderful characters. Characters that seems real because they are not perfect-something most novels like this lack. The relationship between the leads is endearing. I found the characters to be multi-dimensional and the author weaves a mystery into the story without slowing it down or interrupting the romantic flow. The love scenes are ample & steamy, and the plot is a good one. A fast paced book with an intricate plot that I cannot help but enjoy. The interaction between the leads was great. I'm really looking forward to the next book in the series.

Thea is my kinda girl - outspoken, unafraid to speak her piece, even if it's not the most popular opinion, and willing to take care of herself. She doesn't need a man to protect her. Her relatives have already taught her all she needs to know, maybe even more than they realized. But she eventually finds out that a girl sometimes needs a man, for reasons other than protection. And she finds out that even tough girls like her, need a little tender care.

Picture an image from the grunge movement of the 1990s and odds are it was Charles Peterson who clicked the camera's shutter. As unofficial photographer of the SubPop record label, Peterson put a face on the scene that began in Seattle and shaped the landscape of popular music. With its title taken from Mudhoney's anthemic underground hit, Touch Me I'm Sick is more than a rehash of Peterson's 1995 Screaming Life. This high-quality collection includes an introduction by Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder and over 90 photos of the stars before they became household names, plus many who never reached notoriety beyond the Seattle city limits. There are classic photos that have been seen before--Kurt Cobain sprawled across Chad Channing's drum set, the roiling mosh pit of Seattle's Endfest, the blacked-out teeth of L7's Suzi Gardner--but more than 80 have never been published. Peterson's open shutter technique stretches spotlights and blurs movement, bringing still images to life, while his black-and-white photos abound in texture: from the rubber soles of Converse high-tops to the ripped and frayed knees of worn-out blue jeans and greasy knots of flailing hair. Touch Me I'm Sick is a required title for music fans who wore the flannel as well as those who only watched in awe from the edge of the pit. --Ben Reese

Book Description

Poised at the epicenter of an explosive underground scene, photographer Charles Peterson witnessed the birth of a brash new era of music that grabbed the world by it throat and refused to let go. Grunge, the bastard child of 60s garage and 70s punk, revived the original gritty spirit of rock and roll: rebellion ain't pretty, but it sure is fun. Featuring ninety-two photographs - eighty of them never-before-published - spanning sixteen years, Touch Me I'm Sick, Peterson's third monograph, documents the raw power of live performances by the soon-to-be-famous artists and their dedicated fans. Yet Peterson's photographs don't rely on the cult of celebrity to tell this compelling tale of angst, anxiety, and acoustics. Rather, they capture the cathartic ritual between musician and fan played out in the seedy clubs reeking of sweat and stale beer. Bored, alienated youth with nothing better to do than bash their instruments and mosh their bodies in a barrage of sound, song, and furious energy are captured through Peterson's signature style of wide-angle intimacy, swirling lights, and a strange sense of grace. Peterson creates timeless, artistic imagery out of this swiftly passing frenzy, and shatters the godhead of the rock star, revealing the band and audience as co-conspirators in rock's latest, greatest revival. Featuring photographs of Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Sleater-Kinney, Mudhoney, Sonic Youth, L7, Hole, and Black Flag, among others, as well as excerpts from Your Flesh, Flipside, Melody Maker, B-side, Swellsville, and Chemical Imbalance, Touch Me I'm Sick is the perfect mix of art and journalism for music purists and connoisseurs. "And you know what? I think other photographers secretly want to be like Charles and Charles secretly wants to be like other photographers. And it a hard call - would you rather have that street cred, punk rock hipness and respect from all the cool bands, or industry suave that gets major magazine editors and record exec dorks to fly you all over the world for photo shoots and pay you outrageous amounts of money?" (Jennie Boddy, Your Flesh #25)

5 out of 5 stars Get this book!.......2006-07-29

For those of us who somehow can't seem to get enough of this stuff (you all know the "G" word), this book is perfect. In the wacky world of late 80's/early 90's Seattle, Peterson's photos are absolutely iconic.

5 out of 5 stars Great memories of great period of music.......2005-09-06

Absolutely awesome book of photographs from a period of music I had the pleasure of being part of. If you like music; especially the artists in this book. Then this is your new coffee table book.

5 out of 5 stars blurred arms + swooshing lights + flailing hair = fantastic!.......2004-05-24

When I close my eyes and think about the early 90's rock scene, I see Charles Peterson's photographs. I remember going to record stores and buying albums solely on his cover shot - blurred arms, swooshing lights, flailing hair. The cover photographs were so powerful that I could almost feel the greatness of the music inside the sleeve. Nirvana, Mudhoney, L7... fantastic bands captured live in amazing black and white.

In "Touch Me I'm Sick" you get some of the famous photos we all know and also tons that have never been released. These are the ones that had me in awe. Seeing ten year old photos for the first time of bands I love, it's like a treasure trove!

I am so happy that Charles Peterson took these photos and that he continues to share them with us. If I could give this book higher than 5 stars, I certainly would.

5 out of 5 stars Great photographer for someone who wasn't there.......2003-11-10

Unlike the other reviewers of this work, I was not there. I just love the artful quality photos in a book that is a collection item. The detail of the photos and the quality of the printing make this a work to savor. This is a forever book, should be on all shelves of collectors of fine photography.

5 out of 5 stars A CRAZED, KINETIC MASTERPIECE!.......2003-11-06

A divine marriage of vision, design and subject matter. Peterson's wild, free and spontaneous shooting style provides the perfect visual metaphor for the beer-stained and adrenaline-stoked Seattle grunge era. His pictures look like the music sounds - reckless, courageous, and always threatening to spin completely out of control.

An aggresive book design and a minimum of text keeps the emphasis where it belongs - on the music's energy and the exhilarating, ritual co-dependence of performers and fans. You can't slam out power chords on a Leica M6 - but Peterson comes closer than any other "Rock" photographer at pulling it off.

5 out of 5 stars Dream Boyfriend!.......2007-10-10

I loved Champagne Rules, didn't like Hot in Here near as well, so I picked up Touch Me hoping Ms. Lyons would get back to the great chemistry of Suzanne and Jaxon in Champagne. The first scene in the massage room was very HOT (and yes, I know it's unethical for a massage therapist to do what Adonis did, but this is erotic romance, not reality.) The next scene, however, fell a little flat as Adonis was looking for emotional chemistry and Ann just wanted hot sex. But oh, did it get better! As Ann and Adonis got to know each other we got to know them as well, and the ending was truly HEA, the first of Ms. Lyons' books to end with the characters in love. As much as I loved Champagne Rules, I felt cheated that Suzanne and Jaxon didn't end up in love, and I was happy to find out, via this book, that they now are. The Awesome Foursome is fun in a Sex and the City kind of way, although Jenny's repeated requests for "deets" is annoying. Other than that minor issue, this was a wonderful read!

4 out of 5 stars Tanatalizing Tantric Touches!.......2007-09-19

Well - what more could a girl ask for? A younger man, who happens to be a licensed masseuse AND knowledgable on tantric sex!!? (I FORGOT to add - good looking!)
Ok- so Adonis is a nomad, but he is sensitive, sexy and fun - with family values!
Ann needs a therapist - she `hears' her career driven - alpha successful mother's voice in her head at the wrong time = self esteem issues! Adonis teaches Ann a few things all at the right time - and at the right place. Of course the extra possi-fling co-worker David does a poor job of distracting Ann from Adonis with actions of leaving his wife for Ann.
Very good erotic scenes handled by the too-good-to-be-true Adonis - unfortunately, everything was wrapped up in just a few dates - complete with a happy ever after. Good read if you want to know about tantric sex...

4 out of 5 stars delightful erotic romance .......2007-09-04

Twenty-eight years old lawyer Ann Montgomery is so stressed out she grinds her teeth, which tightens her jaw and causes sever pain in her neck. After meeting with her pals from the Awesome Foursome, she decides a massage might help her relax. Thus she makes an appointment to see massage therapist Adonis Stefanakis.

Adonis and Ann are attracted to one another even before the first rub. As they spend plenty of time together, they rotate who's in charge even in the boudoir. They are falling in love, but she fears things are happening too fast and that a long term relationship could impact her career goals; he tries to convince her that she can have both him and her career.

The return of Canada's Awesome Foursome is a delightful erotic romance starring the aptly named massage therapist and the client who needs his magic touch. The story line is at its best when these two rub each other as the heat is entertainingly on. Though the updating of the lead couples from CHAMPAIGN RULES and HOT IN HERE feels intrusive, fans will enjoy this fine hot romance in which the massages feels good.

Prathner's book will be on my self for years. Simplicity is beautifully profound, as are his beautiful strings of words.

4 out of 5 stars I found this book very helpful.......2002-08-15

I found this and other books by Hugh very helpful when I read them over 12 years ago. I was able to work through some depression I was experiencing from my parents getting divorced. I am now sending copies to my brother, who is having a tough time. I hope they help him as much as they did me.

5 out of 5 stars part of my transformation.......2000-11-03

This book was recommended to me in 1974 by a family therapist, as my estranged husband and i were involved in family and individual counseling. The ideas presented in this book helped me let go of old hurts and unhealthy ways of thinking and living. Two of Mr. Prathers books, and one by John Powell, FULLY HUMAN FULLY ALIVE, helped me to change my life totally for the better. I let go of my hurtful marriage environment, and trusted in luck, faith, and optimism to go to graduate school to get into a career field that seemed promising and a better match for me. Since that was 26 years ago, I now have the advantage of hindsight to say YES, THESE BOOKS HELPED ME GET THROUGH AND BEYOND sadness, disappointment, dullness, feeling trapped. I truly don't believe I would have made the necessary changes, had I not read Prather's ( and Powell's) books. I thank you Hugh Prather for hleping me rescue myself.

5 out of 5 stars Whole, Clear & Solid Reading !.......2000-09-17

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I have an original copy from 1972 that my Mother left me in her book collection. Inside I found Mr. Prather's observations very insightful as well as some startling personal revelations I felt. This book is very well written with his honest thoughts and expressions that really give us something to think about within ourselves. I found his work to have several meanings. For anyone that decides to stay in the now and really read it, perhaps while you're in the quiet, there is a message. For anyone that doesn't come away with any sort of message from Mr. Prather's piece of written Art here, is perhaps not really ready yet or looking for it.- James D. 1 out of 5 stars Overly trite and simplistic.......2000-08-18

This book is filled with trite personal "revelations" that have very little complexity. Mr. Prather seems to think that scribblings into a notebook is somehow "poetry," but this is certainly not the case with this book. The writing in here is far from poetic.

    Book Description

The Berlin-based studio Fons Hickmann m23 has been a frequent winner of international design awards for years. The company has a reputation among both clients and peers for producing intelligent graphic design that is simultaneously well structured and galvanising. Their work always seeks to transcend existing limits without seeming affected.

Touch Me There is the first comprehensive presentation of Fons Hickmann m23's body of work and demonstrates that sophisticated German graphic design can meld conceptual clarity with a grown-up pop culture sensibility. It features projects - including those that were never implemented - from the fields of poster, magazine, corporate and exhibition design as well as guest contributions from authors and artists. The book is bilingual, appearing in both English and German.

Touch Me There is structured into eight sections that represent the subject areas relevant to Fons Hickmann and his work: music, philosophy, football, architecture, film, politics, art and theatre. A navigation line runs through the book, which also serves as an orientation system, guiding readers to parts of the book that interest them most.
