This was one of the most fascinating and entertaining books I've ever read. Besides getting an inside look at the society of pick-up artists, I gained some interesting insight into human psychology. It's written in a wonderful narrative, story style which made it hard to put down.
It is a must read, whether you're interested in learning about how to pick up women or you're just wanting to read a great true story.

I recently purchased this book after reading the many favorable reviews on Amazon.com.
First off, this isn't a "how to pick up girls" book, though the process is covered in some depth. Instead, it is a story of a man's search for himself and purpose in life by learning the techniques of the master pickup artists. Sound shallow? I thought so too until I began to read some more.
What starts as an innocent enough goal (to be more successful with women) ends up becoming an obsession for the author, who is short, balding, and not generally considered to be attractive. Neil Strauss (who goes by the name "Style") makes the slow but steady transition from AFC (average, frustrated chump) to mPUA (master pickup artist).
As a single man in his late 20's, I can easily identify with the author's initial challenges. Approaching a beautiful woman is an intimidating prospect, especially for men with low self-esteem - nevermind that they have no idea what to say. However, under the wings of the mPUA Mystery, Style comes into his own and seems to have no problem picking up any woman he sets his eyes on.
Along his journey, the reader is introduced to a variety of strange characters, from pickup wannabees to psychotic women.
The book is great for anyone - men or women, who would like a glimpse of the pickup community.

I've read a bunch of these books on how to meet women and usually I don't bother to write a review - they are so bad. I read The Mystery Method: How to Get Beautiful Women Into Bed and thought it was good. In hindsight it would have been better to read The Game first. It just seems like the books fit better together that way and you should definitely read both. The story in this book is what makes it worth while. Forget the advice; you'll get all that from TMM and more but this book is the story and that makes it all the better, as you get to see the techniques in use. Perhaps the best point in the book is "Juggler was right; humor is the best way to get women." That is an interesting point because while both books talk about confidence and humor and while Juggler and some other guys have it, most of the other guys, including the author himself, don't really develop it - they just rely on all kinds of lines and schemes to impress women. To that end along with this book you must read God Is a Woman: Dating Disasters, which is by a comedian and which does include lots of in-depth pointers on building real confidence and humor. Without a doubt, these are the three books to read on women and I truly appreciate these guys putting their embarrassing moments out there for the rest of us to learn from.

Fantastic read - and hilarious.......2007-10-11
This is a very effective textbook for attracting women and social dynamics that can be applied in most any situation. If you're falling short in creating attention and holding onto the ladies (and in business), you will seriously accelerate your success in interaction in all situations. One of the more entertaining books you will read, and easily the best on this topic. I LOVED every page of it. I rarely read books let alone review them, but I read this in two days. Worth every penny.

Easily one of the most interesting and enertaining books I've read in a long time. For anyone who took psychology in school, you will laugh non-stop at his uncanny and hilarious analysis of the different personalities of women and how to approach seducing/dating each. They are spot on accurate, and you'll remember girls in your past and see where you failed, and how to improve in the future. He gives great pickup advice in breaking the game all down to a science. Every guy can benefit from reading this one. Highly recommended.

Excellent social pick up advice for flirting, being a smooth talker, and enhancing your look attitude and skills in attracting women. We all know women are the biggest players out there in the clubs. It's nice to see there are now some guides for men looking to even the playing field.
This book could be bought just for entertainment value alone, as the writer is seriously interesting and off the wall, with some pretty great observation jokes throughout. I never thought of asset protection before, but the facts he presents show only a fool would ignore his advice of not setting it up before getting married. Cool book.

So I read this book on how to help pick up women, because the title looks so promising. I read it and basically it doesn't have too much to offer. It doesn't give straight foward help, it kinda beats around the bush. I have learned some new things in this book, such as how to start conversations with women and ask openended questions with them (expect the phrase "Whats your story" about 1000 times). But basically, the information in this book is vague. It does not give instant results like we guys all planned to, but it gives you a starting point and hangs you out to dry on your road to being a PUA instead of a chump.
Being a 20 year old college student and living in a city full of females who are stuck up, I figured this book would help out. Unfortunately, it did not do me too much justice. If you guys found success in this book with the opposite sex, give yourself a pat on the back. Funny that female reviewers (like the one below me), might get a joke out of this book because they go around making others feel like crap. I for one really don't recommend this book because of it's vague subject matter. If you want to read a good book, I recommend How to Succeed with Women, because that book gives more info into detail. Peace.

It has to be said, guys; WOMEN CAN READ! And we're reading these male dating guides faster than you are and we know all the tricks. Play them and you'll be labeled a loser before you get to flash that charming smile.
I have a college-age daughter and she and her friends have a collection of these books (The Game, Mystery Method, PBDG, etc.) that they pass back and forth and laugh about, belittling guys they've caught in the act of trying to employ what they've read. It's kinda sad.
And worse, every women's talk show has turned these books inside out. Any woman with a television will spot the act and you may lose out on a promising encounter.
Go back to being yourself. You're a lot more attractive than you think!

While 'The Layguide' does cover the aspects of a succesful pickup, it is a fairly rudimentary guide. All the information in this book is also available in any of the sedution community sites. Fast Seduction has practically this entire book.
If you're truly interested, read 'the game' and then check out the seduction forums. It will benefit your wallet more...

This is a must read book if you want to understand seduction, control, influence etc. This is by far the best written book on the subject. But, its 800 pages long, so prepare to read a long story that demonstrates the seduction technique and then explains the hows and whys.

PROS: This book is written in the same style just like all the others, lots of historical examples. I purchased the audio book and the reading voice is excellent, one of the best voices I have heard for an audio book. I am a huge fan of Robert Greene and like all the other books,(48 laws of power, 33 strategies of war).
CONS: Not for marketers or married people. I thought this book was about how to seduce prospects into buying your product - I was wrong. This book is really for single people and has various historical lessons on how to seduce the opposite/same sex. There is a part in the book about children which I found weird and quite frankly a little disturbing. As a professional marketer and married man, I only found small parts of this book useful. This book is my least favorite of the three by Robert Greene. I hope this review helps.

The book discusses ways on how to manipulate and emotionally torture a victim into believing they need you or want you. It's kinda evil. On top of that, there are stories of other people, that takes up 80% of the book. If I want to read about Casanova, I will take out a book about him.

We've got plenty of people complaining about how amoral this book is and plenty of others who tell you about how great this book is so I don't think I really need to say anything about that here.
What DOES need to be said is that, even if you are the type of person who's perceptions are NOT dominated by moral values - meaning that you are more likely to apply the principals in this book - there are a few things you should know.
First of all I need to make one thing perfectly clear, this is NOT a "how to get laid" guide (though you can certainly use the principals in this book for that purpose, might be a bit of overkill though), if you're looking for a simple "how to get laid" guide, you're better off looking to works from Mystery, Ross Jeffries, or whoever else is into that sort of thing.
Now to tell you what this book is. It is a book on how to dominate, manipulate, and control someone to the point of making that person your slave.
Needless to say, applying these principles for the sole purpose of getting laid is somewhat akin to using an H-bomb to hunt down a squirrel. You can do it if you really want to, but proceed with caution.
The book also warns you against pursuing victims that seem overly self-sufficient, and that insecure or unfulfilled targets make much better victims. Be careful with this you guys! The practices outlined in this book are VERY powerful. If you go overboard with applying them to people who are TOO insecure or TOO unfulfilled, in other words people who are not emotionally stable, you could very well end up driving people into a deep depression or even suicide. That's how powerful this stuff is.
On a more positive note, there is one thing about this book that even those who are inhibited by higher moral standards can walk away with - a greater understanding of human nature (which, in my opinion, is the single most important subject there is). Fair warning, a number of things that society has conditioned us to believe about mankind and human nature, this book will turn them into ashes and does not leave much room for any sort of logical rebuttal. You won't recieve any sugar-coated nonsense here, principles that are warped with whatever agenda that those behind the curtain wish to impose upon you. No sir, none of that, just cold hard facts that may very well turn your concept of reality inside out.
Bottom line, this book is very potent and it provides you with a perspective that will change your model of reality. However, if it is used carelessly, it can destroy your life and cause you to destroy the lives of others. The teachings in this book are highly potent and if they are to be carried out at all, it must be done with maturity and responsibility.

I enjoyed it, the thing was I wanted to know more about NaS and not her, the only reason why I got it was b/c of him. since i'll never marry him I wanted to know what it would be like to be with him. Strong woman? Not even close. Drama queen? Yep.
It is pretty easy to predict she will continue to live her life with the same behavior she describes in her book. Irresponsible.

I will start off by saying I took along time to read this book. The reason being the reviews well I won't let that effect me again. This book
is a good read. I think the problem people have with it is because they are looking for another tell all like Karrine Steffans and this is not that type. She is telling the story base on her trial and tribulations in her life. Which happen to include some well known people. She is basically saying that her life is no differnt from anybody else she makes bad choices and she has to deal with it. I mean did anybody read her final words in the book where she says there are no victims or villians. Meaning everybody knew how the situations could turn out.
With that being said Everybody Get Over It.
To tell the truth people will probably be up set with Karrine new book if she doesn't drop enough names.

I love this series... you must read it to understand. It's all about a homicide detective named Lt. Eve Dallas and how she goes about solving a case which always seems imposibble to solve at first.

Lieutenant Eve Dallas is after a killer who has a flare for romance and murder. He sets the scene with care....pink rose petals, champagne, caviar and sexually enhancing drugs, to make women plyant and willing. The only problem is that he is killing them, and it would appear that he is tallying up bodies quickly. Dealing with her past and all of the nightmares/memories it produces, Eve must battle evil (once again) while juggling her cases and her sexy husband, Roarke. This time, her opponent is both diabolical and creative, and apparently has computer skills (to rival Roarke) and money (apparently the drug, [...], is extremely expensive and hard to obtain) to keep her at bay, but not for long.
We also get another opportunity to see the whole gang, and smile at the all too familiar Peabody and McNab. Fans also learn in this installment, how Louise and the sexy LC Charles got together. I think this is one of my favorites in the series, and loved seeing Summerset, Trina, Mavis, Leonardo, Feeney, Galahad and Whitney again. It was definately a must read

The thing about this and the other in death books is the authors wonderful characters and her ability to bring Laughter into the strangest situations. One wouldn't imagine that murder, mystery and homicide are all that funny but in this book the ugly is tempered with a smile or giggle.

Nora Roberts (writing as J.D. Robb) is a brilliant writer. She's able to weave a tale that entertains, enraptures and imprisons the senses. You are left spellbound by her grasp of storytelling and her expert use of language...
BUT...
This story falls short of many of her previous stories. (And many that came after.) The plot is generic and rehashed. The only originality is the fact that the Casanova tale takes place in the future.
She puts an interesting spin on it, which is why she gets 3 stars instead of 1 or 2, but this is one of the weaker stories in the series if you ask me.

I've been an avid fan of the series since it's beginning. I'm on my second time through them. This time I'm listening to the audio versions. The previous recordings have been fabulous. Susan Ericksen is so talented. But this one..... She changed the voices and dropped most of the accents and idiosyncracies. It's like losing friends. It also makes it much harder to follow and tell who is speaking - all the women sound the same! Susan, please, bring back the voices!!!! The book itself is great, as always

this book is not very good. if you have ever had sex this book does not tell you anything new. basically it tells you a couple positions. guy on top. girl on top. it tells you not to wear a flannel pajamas and bunny slippers to bed if you want to turn your partner on. just basic things that are nothing more than common knowledge. sorry to say im very disappointed and would not reccomend this book.

I started reading this book when my boyfriend mentioned that his cousin was reading it, and he believed that I defined "good girl", and needed to shift over to "bad girl" by reading this book. I thought our sex life was great, but my partner is older and more experienced than I am, so I took his words seriously and ordered the book.
I'm only 3/4 through the book and it has made a SERIOUS difference in my sex life. We're having more pleasure and more FUN than ever imaginable! I totally rock his world now, and I can't imagine being a good girl ever again!
Most of this book isn't about sex, really. It's about your image of yourself, and how you have been "taught", growing up, that thoughts about sex are bad and that wanting sex automatically makes you promiscuous. It teaches you to embrace sex as something healthy, fun, and needed! Keesling pulls you outside to look at the way you have been behaving, and explains why you're doing this and how to change it to make you feel more confident, and sexier! This goes for walking, talking, sitting, standing, dressing, everything. And it doesn't tell you to dress like a prostitute, either, so don't worry. All of this comfort in everyday life makes you more confident under the sheets. You learn to feel comfortable telling your guy what you want, asking him what he wants, delivering upon both yours and his needs, and having a TON of fun!!
I am so happy I have read this book, and I can't believe I had a sex life before this! This book is fun, informative, and very easy to read. The context is casual, so it feels like you're having a one-on-one chitchat with your favorite girlfriend, which is never boring. What've you got to lose by picking up this book? Seriously!! Good girl no more!! ;)

I bought the book to help my post-baby frumpiness. After reading the book I think it would have been a fabulous read before I got married. It's a great introduction to seduction and very informative -- but if I tried to bring a feather duster into the bedroom my husband would explode into laughter.

This book goes far beyong 'bedroom skills' and deals with how to act like a sensual woman through your daily life. The author covers how what we wear affects how we feel, our walk, posture, the thoughts that go through our minds. It is very interesting. Being faithfully married for fourteen years, this has helped me to be even more attracted to my husband, and our sex life has gone off the charts, as I feel good about who I am. Barbara Keesling writes in a fun way, like she was sitting down having a conversation with you. Great sex truly is 99% mental. This book is sure to help you have the sex you've always wanted if you follow through with the suggestions she makes.

As a preface, my mom died when i was 13. I've been wandering around womanhood and feminity without a compass for 10 years. This got me back on course. I'm learning to embrace the power that comes along with being a woman, not only that, but i'm learning to focus it and not be ashamed of it.
This book is not just about sex, but it's about how a woman should see herself. It's about saying it's okay to be sexual, think about sex, enjoy sex, exude sex. It is not about being a slut. It's about being empowered.

Pretty decent hard to put down for Erotica.......2007-10-09
Book 2 in the series was definitely the strongest of the three! I think if I had read these in order, I might not have gotten past Marley's Choice - and I thought Heather's Gift was a real let down as well. I think both Brock and Sarah were the best developed of the characters and most consistent in the series of three books.

Brock August was counting the days until he could take Sarah to his bed. But she got scared and ran from him and married Mark Tate. Now her marriage to Mark is over and Brock is not going to lose his chance to be her again. But as soon they get together the terror starts again and now Sarah is the target and Brock will do anything to protect her.
"Men of August: Sarah Seduction" is the second book in the August series by Lora Leigh and once again I really enjoyed because in this book the over all storyline and the reason behind the brother's actions become more clear to the reader. Again this series may not before everyone but is worth checking out.

As much as I love Leigh's Breeds, this series leaves me flat. The Men of August is about 3 brothers who suffered some heinous abuse in their younger years thereby warping them in such a way that they must share their women to be able to express their love for each other.
Uh, yeah, oooookay.
I'm not buying it either.
Obviously Leigh wanted to write a menage type erotica story, and concocted this plot line to assuage the squeamish. The only problem is ... it doesn't make a lick of sense.
I thnk the problem with this one for me, aside from the above mentioned reasons, is that I didn't like the heroine much. Her constant battle with herself over her love for the hero just became annoying.
Still there was a good enough hook into the third of this series, so I'll probably continue on.

Let me tell you. Lora Leigh is quite the writer. To take a taboo subject and to turn it into a masterpiece. That is exactly what she has done. I can't wait to read the rest of The Men of Agust Series.

OK, Men of August isn't as good as the Breeds books, but it's still pretty hot. Those who like Lora Leigh's other erotica will probably like this as well.
It's true that there is a lot of stupidity in the plotting of this book (and the other August books). Yeah, it's dumb that the brothers have threesomes to "heal" and I didn't really care for all the psychobabble explanations.
But that didn't make it any less erotic that they did like to have threesomes. And that's the point of the book - Brock and Sarah are in love, but Sarah is having a lot of difficulty coming to terms with the fact that if she is going to be with Brock, she will also have to be with the other brothers.
And that, not the whole sexual healing bit, was probably the most annoying thing - how many women would have a hard time with the idea of being loved by three incredibly hot guys? The August men have the unique ability to find the most prudish, unaccepting women out there. So that was stupid, sure. And Sarah was annoying.
And I still couldn't put the book down. The eroticism was done so well that it was easy to ignore all that, most of which was just background anyway.
The writing itself is not bad at all. In fact, it's one of Lora Leigh's better written books. The lines about souls shattering are unfortunate, but they don't characterize the majority of the book.
I would recommend the August books to fans of LL's other books, although I'd point out that the Breeds books are still the best of all of them. It's hard to find writing as erotic as Lora Leigh's, and the erotic scenes are done well in this book, as in all her books. For those for whom perfect plotting and totally plausible dialog are more important, this may not be a great choice.

If you have really blown it, this book is an amazing and powerful blessing. You may feel like God no longer has any use for you and doesn't want your praise and that even if He forgives you, he'd just as soon you slink in the corners. I felt that way. And apparently many, many people who love God and blow it feel that way. I read the third part of this book first and am still working on her initial sections. I feel like this book warrants the attention of every Christian. We all need to be on our guard--all need to take seriously just how much there is an enemy who hates our relationship with God--all need to consider how to help each other and how to restore each other when we fall AND some of us may desperately need help and encouragement in knowing how to move on from horrible sin when we blow it big time.
Caution! Spiritual Growth Ahead!.......2007-06-30
I love Beth Moore and this book is no exception. Initially I purchased this book hoping to understand the experiences of others but I was profoundly changed by reading this book. I often have 3-4 books on the go at the same time and I rarely finish books to completion but this is one of the few books that I've read cover-to-cover. Be prepared to allow God to challenge and change you; it will allow you to look at others who have fallen with grace and mercy and prayerfully help them to repair. Thank the LORD that no one is beyond his mercy and grace!
Recommended Reading for Leadership.......2007-06-20
I highly recommend this book to be read by all Christians, and especially those who are in leadership, whether it be as the pastor of a large church or as a lay person. You don't need to have "fooled around and gotten into trouble" for this book to be highly useful. We are without a doubt living in an age of deception and seduction. One look at the number of Christian leaders that have fallen, whether by an affair or by believing and teaching error over truth, and you can quickly see how hard Satan is gunning for the Church. Just like in the garden, the enemy is waiting to seduce us with a lie - and he doesn't care what the lie is - so long as he can insidiously lead us away from truth. "Insidious", by the way, means "to develop so gradually as to be well established before becoming apparent" - which is exactly what Beth writes about and what happens in seduction - all of the sudden you realize you are in big trouble and don't even know how you got there.
This book is not written to those who do not believe in Jesus. Nor is it written to those who willfully sin and are looking for a convenient excuse for their sin (i.e. the devil made me do it). It is written to those who are fully devoted followers of the Lord Jesus Christ, those who love Him with all their heart and would never want to sin against Him. It is written to strengthen our armor of protection and to help sort things out for those who have been "had" by the enemy, as they stand bewildered looking for an explanation as to what the heck just happened to them. It has been a great help to me both personally and in ministry, for we are not to be unaware of the enemy's schemes. As Beth writes; "The lion has no right to be in our yard. One broken slat in our fence can say, 'come right on in my yard'. Yes, wise are we when we become frequent surveyors of our fence lines."
The author writes in a clear and simple way so that all may understand. The message shoots straight and has God's blessing upon it - a testimony to the amount of prayer and fasting that went into the making of this book. And as always, Beth encourages her readers to go deep in the Word of God and prayer ... these two are forever indispensable. You will be blessed as you ask the Lord to show you areas that you are or might be vulnerable to the lies of the enemy, and therefore, not to somehow be led astray from your sincere and pure devotion to Christ. If, however, you've found yourself in trouble, I also recommend that you read "Get Out Of That Pit", also by Beth Moore, after you read this book. The "pit" analogy will give you a good visual to help steer clear in the future from the pits that got you into trouble in the first place. But I do recommend that you read "When Godly People Do Ungodly Things" first. If your heart desires God above all else, this book (with the Holy Spirit's help, of course) will help you in your restoration.
Incredible Insight.......2007-05-08
A friend of mine gave this to me to read. This book was absolutely amazing. The insight that Beth shares is incredible. Beth lays it all out there for us to see and understand in her down home Texas way. She's absolutely great. She not only addresses what happens, but gives many examples of how and why these things happen. Beth also gives step by step instructions for recovery. What a mighty woman of God. I so admire her ability to be transparent to her readers. I couldn't put this down once I started reading it. I would highly recommend this book.

Scorching Books 2 & 3 in the Bound Hearts series!.......2005-08-09
Lora Leigh writes very erotic stories that are not for the faint of heart. In book 2 of the Bound Series, "Submission" is the story of Ella and James. Ella is Tess' mother (from "Surrender") and James is Jesse's twin brother. Ella is appalled and shocked by the lifestyle of James, and if she can't condone her daughter living that kind of a life, she certainly isn't going to let herself live it. But James know what Ella secretly wants, knows that traditional sex is not enough for her, even if she refuses to admit it. He also knows she's uncomfortable with the fact she's older than him, but he doesn't let that stop him from helping her explore her sexuality and needs that only he can fulfill. James has needs, too, and he wants desperately for the woman he loves to accept those needs, accept that part of his nature - the dominant side of himself. Can he make her understand that she is all he really needs, the woman he wants to please above all others? James finally convinces Ella to submit and rewards her with an experience they will both cherish.
In "Seduction", Jesse wants Terrie very badly, loves her so much, but he knows how much she's been hurt by his own brother Thomas and he refuses to use her just to satisfy his desires. Never once did I feel that the heroines were ever forced to accept any type of humiliation or participate in anything against their will. Any acts of domination tended to excite and enhance the women's pleasure rather than harm or traumatize. The Bound Hearts series may not be for everyone, but it does appeal to a large audience of women who are eager to explore that side of themselves.
