Be Still My Vampire Heart .......2007-07-24
Angus MacKay is a Scottish vampire who owns MacKay Securities. He provides protection for coven masters such as Roman Draganesti. Roman has sent Angus to investigate a vampire slayer who has been killing the vampires known as Malcontents. The Malcontents are ruled by Casimir, a very old and evil vampire. Katya Miniskaya is a Russian coven leader who needs to stop the slayer before Casimir kills her for not protecting her coven.
Emma Wallace is a vampire hunter. She works for the CIA as a member of the Stake-Out Team. When she meets Angus while hunting in Central Park one night, she can't help but be attracted to him. When she realizes he is a vampire, she tries to keep her distance from him.
Angus doesn't just want to keep Emma safe, he wants her for his own. Somehow he'll have to gain her trust. As they fight against Katya and Casimir, Emma is torn between her hatred of vampires and her feelings for Angus.
Kerrelyn Sparks has created her own unique vampire world with Be Still My Vampire Heart. She made up new rules and scenarios for these vamps that are different than most other vampire stories, creating this amusing and interesting tale. Angus' Scottish accent, combined with his brawn and power are very seductive, and Emma is strong, capable, and beautiful. They make one tough couple! Be Still My Vampire Heart is funny, sexy, exciting and a blast to read!

"Sub-genre fans will want to take a bite out of this Big Apple supernatural delight and seek other sparkling 'supernormal' thrillers by this entertaining author (see VAMPS IN THE CITY and HOW TO MARRY A MILLIONAIRE VAMPIRE)."
Really Good.......2007-05-13
This book was really funny, for being the 3rd in the series you usually get a good book but not as good as the first. It was just as good. There were some really funny moments. It was good to see the other characters, exspecially Roman and Shanna and they also have a good moment. The hero was really sexy and his Scottish accent makes my heart melt. The heroine, is also sexy but very determined not to have anything to do with the hero but of course you know that never works out. A very great read...

Betrayed by her new husband, lovely Scottish bride Iolanthe MacLeod dies by the sword in the fall of 1382 in a landlocked keep on the English moors, far from the sea she loves. Doomed to haunt the castle, little does she know that it will be nearly seven hundred years before the man of her dreams will come to rescue her. When Thomas MacLeod MacKinnon appears in 2001, Iolanthe isn't quite prepared to deal with her feelings for this modern man. And Thomas, although he grows accustomed to seeing and talking to ghosts in the castle, is stunned to realize that he's fallen in love with one of them.
Beautiful and desirable though Iolanthe is, he can't hold a spirit in his arms. Thomas has to find a way to go back in time and prevent her death--and he knows just how to accomplish the feat. Now if only saving the young Scotswoman's life proves to be as easy--and if he can rescue her, he'll be faced with having to convince Iolanthe that she loves him in another time and place. No medieval knight in shining armor ever had a quest quite this tough.
My Heart Stood Still is a tale that's absorbing, adventurous, and downright delightful. Kurland deftly juggles a cast of ghostly secondary characters with wonderful humor and a dry wit that makes for hilarious moments without losing the warmth and emotion of a compelling love story. All in all, an excellent novel. --Lois Faye Dyer

A little more kissing please!!!!!!!.......2007-06-28
I love clean romance! But there has to be good kissing in it too. This book had a great example of a real love story you know...romance based on self sacrifice, forgiveness and charity not a lot of lusting etc.. I just really wish there were a few more kisses that's all. otherwise great story. By the way, I disagree that this is the same story as Stardust of Yesterday.
Good Book.......2006-12-20
This is Thomas McKinnon's story. He has done everything during his lifetime, gotten mulitple degrees, earned a fortune, climbed mountains, bought and sold companies, but he feels something is missing from his life. He would like a wife and family, but seems to choose the wrong women. He found his last socialite fiance with his best friend. He dreams of a castle and when his sister shows him a picture of a castle in Scotland, he knows its the same one and buys it. He decides to go to Scotland and renovate his castle but comes across some opposition...a historical preservation group is staging protests at his gates, but even worse he finds it haunted. Thomas has always had the "sight" and now he is seeing not only the Highland ghosts of his ancestors but the ghosts of some Highlanders that are inhabiting his castle and want him to leave it as it is. Then he meets the ghost in charge, a beautiful woman. Thomas immediately falls in love with her and decides to woo her. He promises not to make any changes she doesn't like and says he will fix up her own special room that will belong to her only. He knows her name and when he speaks it she gets very upset .
Hundreds of years ago: Iolanthe MacLeod's mother died when she was 10 and everyone in the household seems to ignore her and could not even remember her name. She vows to never give her name to anyone, the one who is meant to be her love, will guess it. Iolanthe dreams of a man who will rescue her. When her half brother and sister plot to have an Englishman take her away, Iolanthe goes with him because he claims to have a keep on the shore and says he will marry her. In reality, the Englishman was told that Iolanthe knew the secrets of her keep and these secrets would make him wealthy. When Iolanthe refuses to give up the secrets, she is placed in the guard tower and then murdered. She has been haunting the keep for years along with other highland ghosts. When she sees Thomas McKinnon she recognizes him from her dreams all those years ago . When he says her name, she cries and agonizes that he was unable to rescue her before her death. She begins to have feelings for Thomas but knows he will probably leave one day and seek another life. Thomas finds out the secret of Iolanthe's keep was time travel and begins to plan to go back in time to save her and bring her to the future as his wife. Iolanthe fears for Thomas, he will be in danger back in her time and what if she doesn't fall in love with him during that time. Will she remember him in the future?
This book starts out strong, with good development of both characters and their relationship. I like that Thomas falls in love with Iolanthe even though it is not a physical relationship. The antics of their "family" of ghosts is amusing and the story is sweetly romantic and mystical. However, I was kind of disappointed with the ending. The last few chapters seemed to leave you wanting more of what was first offered in the book. It still was a great story.
A great weaving with the threads of time..........2006-10-21
So many time travel stories leave you with more questions than satisfaction... after all, it's hard to keep things matched up right when you mess with time! But Lynn Kurland really does a fantastic job as she has fun with the threads of time. The little hints and subtleties that you'll pick up on your second or third read make it even better than it was the first time through... and for me to really love a book, it has to be good over and over again!
She does such a wonderful job, too, of taking us through the range of questions and answers and emotion that Thomas goes through in this story. Iolanthe's is more hidden then most of Lynn's characters, but the book is still fantastic.
If you never thought you could like a ghost story, try this one out!
OK but not her best.......2005-08-11
I liked the basic premise of the book but it was too long and drawn out. The parts I liked best seemed to be when the characters from her other MacLeod series books make an appearance...Jamie, Ian, etc.
I did like the ghosties. They provided a chuckle or two.
Hmmm ... anyone notice ..........2003-11-18
Now did anyone notice how this is almost the EXACT same story line as Stardust of Yesterday?? Except the roles are switched and now the ghost is female! I mean come on .. how far do you have to reach!

Great cover - sappy story.......2007-09-27
The cover is great - great title, great graphic, zany author name. I was all strapped in and ready for a rollicking ride. The ride never came. This isn't a wacky tale of Texan misfits after all, it's a cosy and predictable mainstream romance with all the zip and crackle of a wet firework.
Cast Meg Ryan in her heyday as the adorable lead, and the cute plumber from Desperate Housewives as the implausibly perfect man and there you have it. Gorgeous people have silly misunderstandings then fall deeply in love. Just like in real life... pffft.
I wouldn't have minded if it had lived up to the promise of the wisecracking along the way but it just didn't.
If you've read anything by Sarah Bird then that was what I was expecting - an edgy, stomach-punchingly witty heroine with enough darkness to her character to keep me engaged.
Paige has no edge at all. This is a cosy, curl-up, warm bath book.
It's not the worst book I've read, it was OK as a diversion once I'd lowered my expectations.
These gals have got the best marketing team ever - Sex and the City, how on earth did they get anybody to use that as a comparison on the cover. There's no swearing in sight in this book, or open discussions about sex or anything else. And if the perfect father threw his head back to 'laugh deeply' one more time I was ready to throw up.
And there were glaring inconsistencies in the story - at one point the guy arranged to come round at 7pm the next day, then in the following chapter he turned up at '6pm on the dot'.
I'd pass this book on, but I'm keeping it for purely cosmetic reasons - it has such a cute cover. All dressed up and nowhere to go.
My Heart May Be Broken, But My Hair Still Looks Great.......2007-01-11
Good, fun read for the down-time after Christmas when you don't want anything too challenging! The two ladies who write as Dixie Cash know their Texas stuff!
Funny, Adventurous & Quick Read.......2007-01-06
I just finished this book after finding it on the Bestseller List at our library. I read it over the holidays and once I got into it could not put it down-_I read it from start to finish in one day. It was very interesting right from the start--you don't really seem to get into the storyline until the first few chapters but once the plot settles in Salt Lick it really takes off. THe characters are all very colorful and there's unexpected events but it flows quite smoothly, keeping you in suspense to the very end.
I am always looking for a good book to read and I am looking forward to checking into more books by Dixie Cash.
Don't read this if you haven't read the book!.......2006-10-03
DON'T READ THIS REVIEW IF YOU ARE GOING TO READ THE BOOK!
I was so disappointed. I absolutley loved the authors first book but this one was like they got tired of writing and just slapped it together. Maybe they were on a tight deadline. The characters were so underdeveloped we couldn't warm up to them. Then the inconsistences are so numerous I kept back reading thinking I must have misread the first time only to find out I didn't. One was Paige telling Spur she was busy and not to come over and then Spur is telling his sister he's going to see Paige. Lester...what can I say. He actually gropes her on the job but when they are alone in her house they sit down and talk and he doesn't even make a move of any kind on her. Then we end up with some guy who wasn't in the book until the very end. I could go on but what would be the point. Did I laugh? A couple of time which is the only reason I gave this book 3 stars. I really hope the next book these sisters write will be better put together than this one.
Too Crass for Me.......2006-03-26
I am saddened by how far popular culture has sunk in recent years. I disliked the crassness of this book. It was trashy and it disappointed me.

STILL IN MY HEART (APB)
Kathryn Smith
Another London season has just wound down and Brahm Ryland is thankful for it. Since a horrible mistake separated him from his one real desire, the hand of beautiful Eleanor Durbane, his role as the scandalous party–goer has grown tedious and every day without her seems longer than the last. But then a break in the monotony appears in the form of an invitation to a shooting party at the home of Lord Burrough, Eleanor's father, and he knows his chance to make amends has at last come.
But Eleanor will need more than a simple apology to atone for the humiliation she suffered from Brahm's betrayal – and after the years of hurt it will take time and care to make her learn to trust him again. When all her sisters warn her against him and her very memories bring back the pain he caused, can their still–burning passions hold them together, or will her distrust and his past weakness be more than their love can overcome?

Intense Look at Alcoholism.......2007-02-04
Brahm Ryland was bethrothed to Lady Eleanor Durbane years ago but she cancelled their engagement after she caught him in bed with her sister Lydia. Lydia had crawled into his bed while he was drunk and since it was dark and he was drunk, Brahm thought it was Eleanor. Brahm was a notorious alcoholic who always did outrageous things when he was drunk...several years go by and Brahm, who has been sober for three years, is invited to a month long hunting party by Eleanor's father. Brahm is elated because he will finally have the chance to make amends with Eleanor whom he still carries feelings for after all these years. When it seems clear that Eleanor is not as happy to see him as he is to see her, Brahm vows to make her see that he is a changed man before the month is up and if possible to win her hand again. Eleanor's sisters know Brahm broke her heart but not the details and it becomes clear that Lydia is still jealous of Brahm after all these years. Eleanor had to help raise her younger sisters after their mother died and she is too blinded by love to see Lydia for what she is, however she finds herself forgiving Brahm the more she gets to know him and the more she researches alcoholism. The attraction between Brahm and Eleanor grows and they start falling in love, but Lydia will do anything to keep them apart. Brahm struggles to maintain his sobriety while dealing with the past.
This book did an excellent job of describing what alcoholism can do to a person. Brahm is a wonderful hero, vulnerable with his heart and body but sexy to a fault. I had problems with Eleanor though, even after it long became clear that Lydia had been the pursuer in the one night stand, Eleanor doesn't blame her and overlooks everything she does. She does keep throwing the past up in Brahm's face but holds the guiltier party guilt free....by the time she comes to her senses, I kind of think she would have deserved being dumped by Brahm.
Clean & Sober.......2007-01-11
The engagement of Brahm Ryland, Viscount Creed to Eleanor Durbane was broken off some years ago, when he was seen by his fiance, to be in bed with her sister. It seems Brahm is an alcoholic, and the sister took advantage while he was drunk. Brahm has now been clean and sober for several years, after a carriage accident that killed his father and left him with a limp. He's hoping to have another chance with Eleanor, while still dealing with the past consequences of his alcoholism. There are some humiliating past public incidents while he was drunk, as well as the contempt of familiy members.
Eleanor has to deal with Brahm's betrayal, as well as his drunken behavior, yet still see him as someone worthy to love. She is someone of strong character while still being a woman of her time. She has to circumvent her conventional inclinations to reach out to Brahm and give him some unconventional help once she decides she really wants to work things out with him.
Brahm is an interesting personality, in that while he is sober, he is a responsible, caring, competent and protective head of his family. His degradation as a drunk is realistic, and a facinating contrast. He's flawed in a non-romantic way which makes him all the more interesting. Those who have read Smith's previous books about Brahm's brothers, will recognize Brahm as the strong older brother. This book in the series gives a wonderful additional dimension to the character and gives the romance with Eleanor that much more depth.
Overwound heroine.......2006-11-13
I was eager to read this story, simply from the premise.
Too bad it did not fulfull it's promise.
Brahm Ryland, Lord Creed is taking his chance to win back the woman he loves, Eleanor Durbane. Years ago, their love was smashed by his drunken betrayal of her with her own sister, Lydia.
It all flows quite well, Brahm arrives, is thoroughly castigated by Eleanor, her sisters etc. He takes it on the chin, he trys to win her trust, tells her his side of the sorry tale. Eventually she seems to forgive...
Seems, alas. Because Eleanor then proceeds to torture both us and Brahm by changing her mind so often and confusingly, that she is like the old Jimmy Durante song and doesn't know whether she's coming or going.
Ruined the book and sank it to the level of over emotive, turgid melodrama. It had me muttering to Brahm that he was well rid of her and to escape her clutches while he had the chance.
That description!!!.......2006-09-28
What was Ms. Smith thinking??? I fail to see why authors give their characters quirky little oddities. For example, why in heaven's name did she make the heroine, Eleanor, have duck lips. That is her description--it even mentions in the book about Eleanor quacking. What???? For the rest of the book, and I will say that that is the only mention of those creepy lips in the entire book, all I could imagine was Donald Duck. Since Ms. Smith didn't feel the need to expound on the lips in question at all during the rest of the book, why give her heroine such an odd feature?? It meant absolutely nothing to the plot of the book. All it did was jar me totally out of the flow of the book. And, the book itself was very good. I really liked this book. I liked it all, except for the lips.
Authors, listen up. Be careful how you describe your characters. It gives us readers some terribly unflattering pictures of your creations.
Heart Stopping.......2006-08-03
I loved this book. Brahm was such a lonely sad hero who had such true sorrow over the past, his dealings with Eleanor, his brothers. He truly felt sorry for the mistakes he made with Eleanor and spent years trying to live up and atone for those mistakes. The alchoholism in the book was done very well. I have read a few book from other authors but none seem to live up to this one. I though Eleanor was a worthy character, her love for her sisters and Brahm was done just right. And her dedication to Brahm when he does have a relaspe. I felt that they grew to appreciate one another and grew to love each other. Brahms dedication to Eleanor was carried out through the book and even while his relapse was going on and he was mean to her because of his condition, I still felt that very special conection that they shared throughout the whole book. Job Well Done!

Book Description
Sydney Parker Ross is as rooted in Texas as the old oak tree outside her bedroom window. Jared Trent, a land developer from Washington DC, is in Texas Hill Country to settle his grandmother's estate. Despite their differences, she and Jared fall in love during riding classes and picnics at the springs. But when Sydney finds out about Jared's plans to rezone his late grandmother's one-thousand-acre ranch into retail shops and residential housing, the two have an argument, with neither of them realizing the ramifications of their harsh words.
To add to Sydney's confusion, her longtime friend Duncan Sinclair proposes, arguing that they were meant to be together. Sydney loves Jared without reservation but doesn't want to hurt Duncan. But she needs to choose quickly before she loses one-or both-of her loves.
When Sydney receives word one fateful morning that Duncan's plane has crashed, she doesn't believe it-just as she doesn't want to believe the last angry words she shared with Jared a few days earlier. Trying to absorb it all, she remembers the summer that brought them to this point.

Wonderful Love Story.......2007-08-30
Crisp writing, great characters, and a love story based in the hill country of Texas--a winning combination. This author's debut novel is a genuine A+. I recommend it for anyone with even the tinnest soft spot in their heart.
Simply stunning!.......2007-04-21
Suzanne Mason creates a world that sweeps you right into Texas Hill Country from the very first sentence. You can almost feel the heat from the blaze, hear the thunder rumbling overhead and experience the cool spring water gliding over you. Images of white silk draping from trees seduce you just as it does Sydney.
The characters are incredibly three-dimensional. Just as you think you know each one's personality, Ms. Mason uncovers yet another stunning facet to them. I feel as if I walked every step with Sydney Parker Ross on her journey. I could feel her excitement over a budding relationship with Jared, and her despair over what life with Duncan would bring. Celia Pearl's get-to-the-heart-of-the matter attitude was refreshing. I can see the positive impact her wisdom had on Sydney. I think everyone should have a Celia Pearl in her life!
Ms. Mason's "goal is to create characters that the reader will remember long after they put the book down." She has succeeded brilliantly as I not only will remember them as characters in a book, but also feel as if I've known them as friends.
Nora Roberts has taken me to Ireland with her books and now Suzanne Mason has led me to experience Texas Hill Country. I can't wait to read Ms. Mason's second novel!

***Tina's Reveiw****.......2004-12-22
I liked this book a lot even though I'm not use to this author's way of writing. I'm use to R.L. Stine strategies. Since I've read so many of his books (he's a great author)! I didn't always know what was going to happen in this book. This was the first book I read of hers.
The book is about teenagers in high school trying to get by on the easy way of life. There's a girl named Allison and she has had a crush on a boy named David for along time. Another girl named Leslie moves into the same neighborhood as Allison; they become the best of friends. Leslie starts dating David, but David doesn't like Leslie as a girlfriend. So he try's to get Allison's attention. David's cousin Mark comes to town and goes to school he like Sandy (rude, annoying girl in school). In the end Mark is with Leslie and Allison's with David and ever thing is great!
I think everyone wood like this book because it is about reality.

Tender rendering of a heartbreaking but redeeming story.......2007-09-07
I was delighted to read this thoughtful and above-board rendering of one principled young woman's journey through murky early adulthood. Bad things do happen to good people...over and over, as it turns out. But Annie's tale of courageous persistence encourages readers young and old to stick by their guns, to eat, love, and pray well! No cussing or steamy sex was needed to fully appreciate the deeply commited love between the main characters. And Jo James has mastered the art of creating a true page-turner in her very first book. You really can't be sure what happens at the end without cheating. Don't! It's a better trip to play by the rules and read one page at a time! Just ask Annie.
Romance in the Midwest.......2007-08-23
Loved the book--it was a romantic mystery! Everytime I thought I knew what might happen, you took Annie in a different direction. Well written with lots of love, emotion and helpful insights for life. A definite book mothers and daughters can enjoy together. Keep writing--definitely continue the series!!
A book for all ages.......2007-07-27
A book for all ages,a book about a time in America when there was a refreshing innocence in our lifestyles. The story of Annie during her growing up years on a Kansas wheat farm, her years in college, her courtship years and marriage, bring back pleasant memories to all who lived during the 50's and early 60's. Jo James style of writing reminds one of Wilder's "Little House On the Prairie or Austin's Stories. A good and interesting read that can be handed down to the children. A book that calls for a sequel.
