Briday Gowns: How to make the Wedding Dress of your Dreams.......2007-05-15
The book arrived quickly and in great condition. It looks like it has lots of information to help with making my daughter's wedding gown...I'll begin sewing in September.
bridal gowns; how to make the wedding dress of your dreams.......2006-08-07
Very informative I will use the book alot
Wonderful Resource.......2006-02-01
I am in the Bridal Alterations business and also sew weddings on the side. I am just starting out and wanted to learn more about the insides of wedding gowns. I have used other books by these women (Fit for Real People) to teach sewing classes in local fabric stores and knew they'd put out a great product. Inside they tell you what fabrics to use for interlining, interfacing, step by step construction, patern fitting, and more. There's even a checklist for constructing a wedding gown and yardage and instructions for making petticoats. I REALLY recommend this book!
A Good Guide, But Know How to Sew.......2002-12-12
I was toying with the idea of making my own dress and bought this book. The author is very knowledgeable and the text is well-written. However, if you are a novice you do not want to ACTUALLY attempt a dress without either a.)guidance, or b.)other books to walk you through. This is written for those who truly understand patterns and sewing. However, if you don't sew it is a great book to understand what things you should be looking for if you are having it made by a dressmaker, and the types of fabric/necklines/veils, etc. If you're expecting a step-by-step this is not the book for you.
Wonderful!.......2000-06-07
Well written, clearly illustrated, great on all the details. Obviously written by a pro who is very creative! Highly recommended even if you don't plan to sew your own--you will get lots of ideas to have the perfect dress made for your special day!

Customer Reviews:
I love this Creative Wedding Showers Book! .......2007-07-22
This is a great book for how to make invitations to planning games and favors for your wedding shower. I plan to use some of the ideas in here for my bridal shower. There are 10 themes to choose from such as 12 hour shower (ideas for different times of day), Spa Bridal Shower, Tis the Season, Victorian, and Hawaiian theme among others. The author gives you all you need for making invitations, favors, and playing games to go along with the themes in the book. However, I do wish she would have made the invitations into full size patterns (adding that would not have been hard--just extra pages at the back) instead of having to enlarge the patterns. You'll also like the recipes included in the book. Have fun planning your shower around one of these themes!
Wonderful!.......2007-02-04
This book is awesome if you like to do crafts. I love doing crafts but I am not as crafty as other people. When me and the other bridesmaid started to do our invitations we thought we were getting in over our heads but the directions were easy and it turned out to be a great success. I posted the photos of our apron invitations on here for people to view. I highly recommend this book to anyone! It has a lot of different themes and beautiful invitations, decorations and ideas for bridal showers.
Fabulous Shower Book.......2007-01-15
This is a fabulous book for showers or just themed party planning. It will come in handy in the future. The pictures are great and the ideas are complete, from menu, to décor to favors! A great find for the crafty. I also bought Wedding Showers by Adams & Russo and loved it too.
great ideas.......2005-10-23
This book offers great ideas for shower themes, favors, games, menus, etc. including pictures and step-by-step instructions. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for some trendy wedding shower ideas.
Beautiful ideas!.......2005-05-15
I don't know about you, but most of the bridal shower books I found before this all seemed to have the same old tired stuff. FINALLY someone came up with some beautiful, orginal ideas! The invitations, favors, and decorations in this book are really very creative and pretty, and most are fairly easy to make. She offers menu ideas, recipes, and activities that go with each party theme. I really liked the way she used color in her themes. I also liked the full-page color photos for each theme, and the step-by step instructions also had a photo for EACH step. Vey nicely done! Ms. Dewberry, if you are reading this -- I'd love to see a book on creative BABY showers as well!

Planning a medieval Party?.......2002-12-27
If you are planning a Medieval Celebration of any kind this is a great book to buy. My Fiancee and I have been looking for medieval books to plan our wedding by and I stumbled across this one its been very helpful and I'm sure it will get alot of use. It has many tradations recipes and lots of fun games a must have.
So-So Information for Event Planning.......2001-08-24
My fiance and I purchased this book as we are planning a medieval wedding. The title and description of this book implied that we would find lots of valuable information on that topic. Well, we found lots of valuable information for feast planning, or putting on a re-enactment (a la Society for Creative Anachronism), and very little concerning period wedding traditions. The most interesting parts were the recipes/redactions and the instructions for medieval dance steps. There are also several pages that contain sheet music for period songs. If you are looking to put on a reenactment or feast, this is the book for you. If you are looking for anything else, I suggest you look elsewhere.
Book Description
Dress Brianna and Kayla in frilly skirts and blouses as well as charming little hats and headbands. Their floral bouquets add a dainty touch. 2 dolls, 21 costume stickers.
Customer Reviews:
Not what I expected.......2007-04-15
This book is very tiny (only 4 x 5 1/2") with the flower girls being less than 5" tall. There are only two little flower girls to dress- I didn't notice this in the item description until AFTER I had purchased the book. And all the clothing styles are very dated, even though it was printed just 4 years ago. Just not what I expected when I ordered this book. It's not terribly expensive, but if I had seen it in a bookstore I'd have passed it right up.
fun!.......2007-01-06
Good for any flower girl between the ages of 5 and 7. Sticker paper dolls are always popular with little girls
Paper Dolls.......2006-11-07
The booklets were so cute. The girls loved them and played with them all day. An excellent value!
Small Book better for older girls.......2005-07-24
I ordered this book for my three year old flower girl. The book itself was very small in size. I think it was difficult for small fingers to play with the delicate dolls. The pictures were very cute. Maybe a 6 or 7 year old would be better suited for it.

Book Description
In this dazzling finale to the latest trilogy from New York Times bestselling author Jane Feather, the inimitable, anonymous Duncan sisters continue to earn a living—and a reputation—with their clandestine matchmaking service. But a handsome new client has thrown youngest sister Chastity into a professional, and quite personal, quandary.
From behind her opaque veil, Chastity listened to Dr. Douglas Farrell’s distressingly unromantic requirements for a wife: wealth and social status. Her instinct was to refuse a man with such mercenary intentions. But she couldn’t turn away a paying client. Obviously, if the tall, muscular, dark-eyed physician had wanted a love match, he’d have found one himself. Yet the truth about the pragmatic doctor is one that could very well turn her head—and steal her heart—providing she discovers it before it’s too late.
At the age of thirty-five, Douglas Farrell was ready to sacrifice his bachelorhood for his true passion—caring for the poorest of London’s poor. But his dream requires capital. For that, he is convinced he needs a wealthy, well-connected wife. And for that, he needs the services of one mysteriously disguised, peculiarly accented—increasingly captivating—woman who will reveal herself only as the Mayfair Lady.
Customer Reviews:
Not really sure...........2005-10-10
I really like this trilogy but I must say that overall I was a little disappointed in this one. The first two books had fire and pizzaz, but this one was just simply lacking something that I can't quite put my finger on. It is still a fairly good read. If you read the first two then you definitly can't skip this one, just don't judge it by its predecessors.
Not what I expected Chastity to be like...........2004-08-24
I couldn't wait to see the book about Chastity. She seemed the warmest and funniest of the three sisters. Instead, what we get is a fairly mean-spirited spoiled brat. I was so disappointed that I couldn't read the whole book.
Her love interest was a little boring. He just didn't seem to have the "spice" that the other leading men did.
Douglas and Chastity-SPOILERS.......2004-07-27
Favorite scene with Chastity-
When Chastity follows Douglas to see him working in the poor part of London, and what ensues.
Favorite scene with Douglas-
When Chastity follows Douglas to see him working in the poor part of London, and what ensues.
Together-
When Chastity follows Douglas to see him working in the poor part of London, and what ensues.
What did you like about Chastity-
She was fun and playful. She was caring about her father's happiness. She was the little sister who felt left behind.
What didn't you like about Chastity-
She seemed to be judgmental about people, although some of the people deserved it. She was unaccepting about the norm of things, what men did for women.
What did you like about Douglas-
Once he let loose with Chastity, he was a lot of fun. And very sexual. He cared about his patients. He couldn't hurt Laura's feeling regarding decorating. He really wanted to be a part of Chastity's life and her friends and family.
What didn't you like about Douglas-
He was closed off from people, thinking everyone, esp. Chastity, would judge him. He was willing to marry for money, not love.
If I could cast Chastity, I'd cast Renee Zellweger.
Wedding Game **Sad**.......2004-05-16
I would never have believed that Jane Feather wrote this book. I have enjoyed many of her novels in the past so I was very surprised how lacking this book turned out to be. It is very tough to like either of the characters and it drags along all the way through to the very end. I kept expecting something noteworthy to happen that just didn't. It was a story with possibilities that just petered out. It wasn't a horrible story just a very dull one. It didn't even seem to have the same tone of writing that Mrs. Feather has had in the past.
disappointing!.......2004-04-10
I thoroughly enjoyed the first two tales of the Duncan sisters, but this book was big let down. Feather's writing is flawless, but the problem with this book is the rushed manner in which it is presented. The characters are flat and at time irritating, and I really just did not like the hero, Douglas at all. He applies to the Matchmaker service run by the Duncan sisters, Charity now being the only one left single. He demands she find him a rich rich wife, which sets Charity off. She is not the only one! She plans on marrying Douglas off to an Italian heiress and her father off to the woman's fathers ( a bit of mercenary in Charity, too?). We are told Douglas' wanting of a rich wife is for a noble cause - he plans on setting up a medical clinic in the slums of London - but sorry, Jane, it just does not absolve him of setting out to use a woman. Good cause or not, it's a flaw that puts Douglas beyond the pale.
The book has it's bright moments, but not enough to overcome the hurried feel and unappealing characters. The first two in the series are so delightful, one cannot help but feel disappointed in this one.
Customer Reviews:
very old.......2007-08-21
bought this for inspiration and was very disapointed! this book is both very dated and very simple (some pages had pictures with a few stickers thrown in the blak spots). the only good scrap page is the one on the cover.
Useful but not exceptional.......2006-02-08
I recently bought this book and was surprised at the pages included. Overall, it has several very different layouts and some neat ideas for special topic pages (champagne bridal shower, leaving limo cutout). But, the pages were all sent in by "real people," so they do not at all have the polished look of the "memory masters" who usually compile Memory Makers books. I would say the level is intermediate, with a huge lack of advanced techniques. Antiquing, dry embossing, embossing with powders and a heat tool, embellishments, tags, vellum, use of computers, paint, and fabrics are not included at all. These are pretty standard in today's scrapbooking trends. The examples use stickers a lot, matted pictures, and cut-outs. There are some neat ideas, quilling in particular, and I really like the heritage pages. Because the pages were sent in, any specialty techniques are sparce and only given a few pages as examples. I agree this book is outdated overall, but is still a great place for a jump-start.
Very beautiful..........2005-04-02
It is a very beautiful book. I have relatives who were married last year and we have tons of pictures to scrapbook. I was out of ideas, because I feel they have to be so perfect and elegant. This gave me plenty more. Thanks!
disappointed.......2003-11-01
Flipped through this book quickly and knew I wouldn't be using any of the techniques. Extremely dated and basic, especially for a book written in 2000.
Beautiful, elegant ... and yes time consuming.......2002-11-27
I have been married more than five years, and am still assembling my wedding scrapbook (other projects, work and children keep taking priority). Over the years, I have assembled quite a number of books and magazine articles about wedding pages. This book is my number one reference - the one I keep coming back to.
Other books will show you pages that can be done more quickly, but is that what you want to do for one of the landmark events of your life? Not every page in my scrapbook will look like the ones in this book. But, it's nice to know that at least a few of the pages were labors of love inspired by some very artistic people.
If you have only one or two pages in your wedding album that are as attractive as the ones in this book, it will have been worth the purchase.

Customer Reviews:
Bridal Shower games.......2007-07-22
Some of the games are definitely better than others. You'll have to tailor to the group.
Not for a younger crowd.......2000-03-31
This is a book that only contains game sheets, no writing or suggestions. The games are for a mostly older crowd. I'm 21, and most of the games involve questions that if you haven't been around long enough could not be very easy for example One game called famous couples your supposed to write in names of partner some people listed: George burns, Napoleon Bonaparte, Laura Ingalls. Some good Ideas for games but not for a younger group of people. I think I will only use one game out of the 8 listed.
Book Description
Turn any time into party time with balloon creations that are more fun, and easier to make, than you'll find in any other book! Simple twist-and-turn techniques show how to loop and tie balloons together to create colorful creatures, large and small, make balloon costumes and hats, and transform any space indoors or out into a magic kingdom. Brilliant color photos show finished projects and close-ups of each step. For starters, turn single balloon into flowers or animals, hats or jewelry. Then try your hand at a stegosaurus, butterfly, dragon, or school of fish. Move on to eye-popping airplanes and space ships, a Halloween spider and web, your choice of a birthday centerpiece, braids and bracelets, and costumes for pirates, angels, fairies, and robots. There's even a section on building your own funhouse or festooning your entryway. Before you know it, you can host your own version of a Macy's Parade!
Customer Reviews:
Helpful, good pictures, lots of different things to make.......2004-07-21
This is a good book for those trying to get started. There are three presentations for each balloon creation. One version shows how the proportions look on the balloon as it is laid out. Another shows a diagram with the sequence of each twist. For anything complex there are several diagrams showing the creation in steps. And the final presentation shows the finished project. Taken individually these are OK, but together they are very helpful.
I've only looked at a few books so far on folding and twisting balloons, but this is my favorite. If you are trying to learn how to fold balloons, this is a good book to start with.
Avoid this one..........2003-03-23
I had gotten the balloon animals and more balloon animals books and had gotten good at making those characters, so I thought I'd give this book a try. It's terrible. Compared to the previously mentioned books, the instructions are awful and the guides miserable. Avoid this one. ...
Good for beginners.......2002-10-02
This book tries to cover a lot of ground with only a few pages. The result is a cursory look into the art of balloon sculpting. It contains a brief section a few basic twists (fold, pop, tulip, ear...) then proceeds into a nice little section with some basic and some advanced animals (Dog, Horse, pig, cat, teddy bear, dragonfly- my favorite, dragon, stegasaurus, scorpion, and a very basic fish.) Following the animals the book goes into basic flowers, palm tree, and the tulip. Next is a small section containing the motorcycle, airplane, spaceship and "silly figures" which is basically a latex glove and a sharpie marker. This is followed by basic decorating items, chains, braids, a nice spider and web, and a decent decorating flower. Then there is the section with basic hats and some fun ideas for baloon costumes for children. The book ends with some ideas for baloon playhouses which are simple cubes made with the larger 350 balloons. It also contains some games such as the ring toss and a nifty trick with clear baloons and small loose balloons inside them. All in all it is a great resource for beginners, but those with more experience will find over half the book useless unless you want to pick up a few new twists and don't mind the price. If you're just starting out then this is a great introduction book. Even if it doesn't contain the essential Toe Twist.
The best , so far..........2001-10-31
I started twisting at my child's birthday party and, now I'm hooked. I wanted a book with good illustrations and instructions, and this is it. It has 5 difficulty levels and special tecniques.I don't have all the balloon sizes needed , but most items are made with 260 's(the regular long twisty balloons.)I have not been able to make the two-balloon headband, and I can't figure out why. It's only a level one, but it won't stay together. My cousin, who has a Harley, liked the motorcycle (it's a level 5 ).The flower and sword are repeats from another book, but these are more detailed. Have Fun !!!

Games tailored for everyone: young, old, wild and tame!.......2006-06-21
Thanks Joan! I found the book superbly useful. I used it during my sister's wedding shower, and not only were the games suitable for the younger crowd, they were also very popular with the older aunties and mommys! It helped break the age barrier, and allowed everyone in the party to feel included. I can't wait to play the games on the bride and the groom during the wedding!
Great fun!.......2004-10-08
I MC'd a wedding this summer, and used a number of the ideas from the book for at the reception. Everyone had a blast! What a great way to liven up the usual drudgery. Thanks to Joan!

Always a bridesmaid, never a bride?.......2003-03-29
It paid off for Joan Wai, who turned her experiences writing for wedding websites and marrying off friends into a handy volume on ways to spice up showers,pre-wedding parties and receptions. Suggestions are plenty, instructions are clear, and there's plenty of room to personalize with twists and tips. If you like the old standards, they're here; but if you think shower games aren't your thing, Wai includes fresh activities that might change your mind. She's smart, funny and she knows her stuff.

Customer Reviews:
Uninspiring and generic.......2006-07-27
I bought this book hoping to expand my knowledge on bachelorette parties....or at least to get some cool ideas. Unfortunately, this book really didn't tell me anything I couldn't have found out for free from about a dozen bachelorette websites I've already visited. The few ideas in the text that were somewhat original were lame and unrealistic. One idea I found completely ridiculous and cartoonish was the idea of having invitations in champagne glasses "delivered on a silver tray by a gentleman dressed in a tuxedo". WHAT? I want to meet the guy that you can hire to do this. Then I want to slap him. Hard.
Overall I just found this book to be a waste of money. It vaccilated between adolescent "put the condom on the banana" games and "useful tips" on creating really crappy homemade party favors. The only part that was even remotely useful was the recipe section which included appetizers, desserts and drinks. Unfortunately, I wasn't needing a cook book. I was needing some new and innovative ideas to give my friend a special night to remember. Two thumbs most enthusiastically down.
Who's ready to Party?.......2001-07-11
A lot of good ideas, many drink recipes and decorating ideas. If it hadn't been for this book, I don't know how my best friends bachelorette party would have turned out. Highly recomend it, many, many recipes.
I LOVED IT!!!.......2001-03-17
My cousin and I are getting married within 6 months of each other and this book allowed me to plan a party for her with very little stress. She is also going to use the book to plan the party of MY DREAMS. THANKS
Useful.......2001-01-16
I enjoyed reading this book, especially not knowing the first thing about throwing a bachelorette party. The book also gives enough examples to where it is possible to create your own original ideas following along with a basic concept of i.e. themed parties. The book is light hearted, and fun, which is expected considering the subject matter. Overall, it is a very interesting and practical book, for the purpose.
Tons of ideas!.......2000-08-01
I was able to use many of the book's ideas for planning a friend's bachelorette party. Among other things, it features a variety of unique themes and games. The scavenger hunt was very original and lots of fun!
