5 out of 5 stars ONE OF DIANA PALMER'S BEST.......2007-06-10

I am not going to write much, just want to say I have read about 80 of Diana Palmer's books and this is in my top 10. I have reread it many times, I just reread it because Lawman just came out and I am rereading her lastest books before I read Lawman. I enjoyed the whole book. Also I enjoy that this book has many of the characters from her other books show up to help.

5 out of 5 stars Simply the greatest........2007-03-12

Amazing story and great book. When i read the insert by Diana Palmer saying it was one of her favorite written stories, i figured it would be like all the rest. And although the plots dont cease to be alike, this one had something different and special.

So story is about his woman (Delia) who is getting manhandled by a man in a casino. The owner of the casino (Marcus) rescues her and they both find that they have incredible chemistry from the start. The next couple of days they are with each other and manage to form a relationship that leads to Delia getting pregnant. For certain circumstances, they are forced to be apart and while Delia saves Marcus' life, she loses her baby and he suffers amnesia and can't remember Delia.

Incredible characters. Palmer always portrays the male character as arrogant, selfish, and plain annoying. Marcus however, is great. Hes not the type to play hard to get. He instantly tells Delia how he feels and he makes no excuses. The only ones he makes are in order to protect Delia from any harm that may come as a result of his past.

Delia is also great. Shes strong and passionate. She gives everything shes got and fights for whatever she believes is hers. Shes a great character and i wish Diana would portray her females like she did with Delia.

The other characters add nice elements to the story. Everything is very much in order and it works out beautifully. I dont understand why people are saying it drags. If it would to have ended in the first 30 pages, it would have been like any other Diana Palmer story. This one went on to a more interesting twist.

Highly recommend it if you are a Diana Palmer fan. Ive read over 40 of her books and find this one to be one of the best. If youve never read Palmer, then this one is a great one to start with.

3 out of 5 stars On the fence about this one.......2006-01-05

I am not sure how I feel about this book other than I don't absolutely hate it or love it.
Most of the story happens at the beginning and then just drags on. The champion quilting thing was a bit much...guess Ms. Palmer needed something to make the gangster hero seem gentle. I didn't like how Marcus didn't want kids (at least not right then) but wasn't as cautious as he should have been. After Marcus got his memory back, he showed an abundance of emtion that made the story better to me. I do wish DP would throw away her cookie cutter characters though.

4 out of 5 stars texan lovers.......2005-12-27

I'm Melini from Indonesia. I love Diana Palmer's books. Texan lovers is the first book that encourage me to read english book. I read it using dictionary.
In Texan Lovers, you will smile, laugh and cry. But, i just want to say Diana Palmer books always typical. You read every story with different name but the same character. What i mean that every story have the same typical story. The man always big, handsome, rough and very 'experience' also a little bit old. The woman always young, fragile and alwaysss virgiiiin also have a big crush for the man. But i always waiting for the next Diana Palmer's book.

4 out of 5 stars Pretty Good.......2005-01-22

Marcus is a wonderful hero and Delia is a sweet heroine. It is true that Marcus and Delia get together very early in the book, but the following amnesia story increases the tension and suspense. I liked the amnesia twist to the story. Marcus doesn't remember anything about Delia, but he feels something for her that he can't explain. That section of the book had me biting my nails because I couldn't wait to find out what finally causes him to remember her and what his reaciton would be.

Book Description

His Winter Bride . . .?

As the holiday season approached, the residents of Jacobsville were whispering about Janie Brewster's hopeless crush on Leo Hart. Up till now, all her efforts to lasso the dynamic cattleman had crumbled quicker than those mouthwatering biscuits that Hart men coveted. However, this time the starry-eyed debutante had come up with the perfect self-improvement campaign to dazzle Leo -- she'd become a courageous cowgirl! Still, her sudden transformation seemed to rouse Leo's formidable temper more than ever. But wait . . . was it hot-blooded hunger -- not dark disdain -- that gleamed in his eyes when they melted into those smoldering kisses beneath the mistletoe? Could the last Hart bachelor be on the verge of taking Janie as his bride?

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Another great one.......2005-09-15

As the last of the Hart brothers books it took me in right away. I guess it was the biscuit hook plus the fact that we never learned what Leo did to the faithful housekeeper that made her want to seek her revenge on him. Plus, all the brothers lived on the same ranch and suffered from different reasons for their wariness of women. I truly believe y'all should read all the brothers stories: Corrigan, Simon, Callaghan, Reynald and Leopold. She does write good stuff anyway (The Long, Tall Texan series is definitaly 10-star rating). The Hart Brothers are truly loveable.

5 out of 5 stars Couldn't Put It Down.......2004-08-03

This was a great book. I read it all in one day and couldn't put it down. I don't know how many times I have reread this book, I have lost count. I love the conflicts beween Janie and Leo, and how in the end the final Hart brother becomes hooked. Leo seemed like a good guy who didn't want to hurt Janie intentionally but didn't want to get want to have her to get hooked onto him either. I just loved this book, and know that I will read it many more times.

5 out of 5 stars My new favorite!.......2004-05-09

I haven't read all of Palmer's books yet, but I have read many, and this one is now at the top of the list. While it has many of the same ideas typical of her books - young virgin adores older man who has watched her grow up and won't let himself fall for her until she's in danger and then he realizes he can't live without her (whew!) - this one is Palmer at her best with all those details. Janie is a strong woman who wants Leo but won't trail after him like a lovesick pup. Leo fights his attraction to her but doesn't intentionally try to hurt her to drive her away. And they even *wait* until their wedding night, but there are several really hot scenes ahead of time that are also among the most tender I have read from Palmer. Terrific dialogue and intriguing secondary characters help to make this one a keeper!

4 out of 5 stars Enjoyed It..........2003-05-22

A good book. It was worth the read. I read it all in one day.

5 out of 5 stars Love hearted.......2003-03-31

Janie Brewster loved Leo Hart for a long time, just when Leo starts to notice Janie, her best friend Marilee wants him too.
Marilee, told Janie to do all the wrong things.
One tends to see this as being stupid on Janie's part, because she has known Leo for a long time, and she should have known better, but love is not the smartest emotion, and it does make the smartest of us stupid.
But when Marilee tells lies about things Janie is says no one believes Marilee but Leo.
Until a party, and than the feathers fly.
When Leo sees he is wrong he lets his brothers set the wedding of the year for him and Janie.

5 out of 5 stars I loved this book.......2006-01-25

Nobody beats Diana Palmers when it comes to finding love. I was stuck on the book from the first and could not put it down till I was though.

I highly recommend this book.

1 out of 5 stars Got a stiff drink ?.......2005-05-01

Well you'll wish you had one handy while reading this book. Diana Palmer is a decent writer despite the fact that all her heroes and heroines are basically the same. The book started off good but slowly went downhill. The heroine and hero both have troubled pasts that separately would be terribly tragic but together, arghh. It's enough to drive you crazy. Not since Michael Jackson and Lisa Marie Presley have two people been so wrong for each other. The male lead is a times viciously cruel(though not physically) and then seems to be a freakin saint. The heroine ranges from proud and spirited to unbelievably meek and mild. This book was so horrible and cliched and the charaters should be screened for schizophrenia. Don't let this review discourage you from her other books, just this one.

5 out of 5 stars Matt Caldwell: Texas Tycoon.......2005-02-28

Back cover reads:
A LONG, TALL TEXAN FINALLY MEETS HIS MATCH...?
He was rich, powerful and every woman's fantasy. Although many had tried to lasso Jacobsville's sought-after bachelor, none had managed to catch Matt Caldwell's eye. However, mysterious Leslie Murry was about to change all that. For the cynical Texas tycoon's spirited new employee roused his temper like no one ever had before. And despite his fierce denials, her soft vulnerability also brought out his every protective instinct. After sampling her soul-searching kisses, Matt was sorely tempted to possess the enticing innocent who clearly ached for a man's tender touch. Still, this Long, Tall Texan wasn't about to let down his guard until he sweet-talked Leslie into surrendering her heart!

1 out of 5 stars Thumbs Down.......2004-09-07

Matt Caldwell cruelly harasses his female employee (both verbally and sexually) to the extent that if in the real world, he would be experiencing serious difficulties with the legal system. She, following the typical Palmer formula, falls in love with him. He discovers the truth about her, instantly turns into a charming and caring man, and they live happily ever after. Give me a break. A real woman would find a good attorney and file charges against this abuser. Not one of Ms. Palmer's finer moments in literary history.

4 out of 5 stars Matt.......2003-05-24

A good book. It is a lot like the other books she writes. It starts out with Matt being a selfish, insensitive and rude man but by the end of the book you love him. I enjoyed it.

4 out of 5 stars Boss Man by Diana Palmer.......2007-09-24

While I enjoyed reading the book, it wasn't one of her better books. Not one I would read a second time as I have done with many of her other books.

2 out of 5 stars Wheres the hero?.......2006-10-15

Typical romance by Diana Palmer. Violet is a strong character, unlike a lot of the females in the other books. However, the male character in this one comes up extremely short. He has no attractive attributes whatsoever. He's selfish, caught in the past, and unwilling to do his part to make the relationship work. It seems like he cares about his pet cats more. Even to the end, he makes Violet settle for a measly relationship.

1 out of 5 stars Don't Bother!!!!!!!!!.......2006-09-06

What a waste of my time and money! This author is living in a time warp! If you have another title, just change the names and you'll have a new book. How does she get away with submitting the same crap to the publisher?
Palmer's male characters are gods gift to women and get away with treating women like trash. The women are so fiesty, they put their men in their place with witty responses like "you, beast!" ...Blah, Blah, Blah.............

4 out of 5 stars Boss Man~Cute.......2006-07-06

I enjoyed this book. It was a cute story. It tied up alot of questions that continued thru other books. I loved the two cats & how Violet won them over.

1 out of 5 stars Dissapointed.......2006-01-18

In other books Blake has tantalized with the possibility of a good romance but when his turn came, I found his story a dissapointment. It was the same for Dr. Coltrain & Cash Grier; the possibility of a highly charged romance was hinted at in stories where they had 'guest appearances' but it seemed that when it became time to tell thier stories Diana was tired of them and just threw a combination of old plots and contradictory situations together. Diana Palmers works are either very good or very bad and I won't spend the money on hardcover any more. I'll wait for the paperback.

5 out of 5 stars Fantastic.......2006-07-14

Absolutely fantastic series. 1st. book i've read from DP, but will not be the last. Just finished "Sutton's Way", next in series & I am waiting for "Ethan" to be delivered. Can't wait to get me hands on it.

4 out of 5 stars The first three books of the Long Tall Texans series........2004-11-15

Although I enjoy reading DP's books, I get tired of the repetition. Sometimes I think if you have read one of her books then you have read them all. The heroines are usually naive virgins who don't know how to dress and put up with too much from the heros. The heros usually behave badly until they quit fighting their feelings for the heroine. And all the jewelry stores only sell emerald solitairs. Reguardless of all this the stories are usually good. Some are better than others. But I do wish the women had careers, backbones, and didn't need a makeover. Justin was my favorite in this book because Shelby didn't need a makeover or seem so naive.

5 out of 5 stars HANDSOME, WONDERFUL AND MR TEASE.......2004-10-30

Yes this is how I describe Calhoun-Handsome, Justin-Wonderful and Tyler-Mr Tease. Yes all three stories were wonderful stories. I loved every second of all three and I have re-read them many times. Must read, funny, loving and touches your heart!

5 out of 5 stars First And Best.......2004-07-30

This was the first book by Diana Palmer that I read. And it was where I fell in love with the Long Tall Texan's. I loved the tension between the characters. And would have to say that Calhoun's story would have to be my favorite with Justin coming behind closely in second. This book was great a definite keeper!

4 out of 5 stars Good, but tame.......2004-07-23

I am a big Palmer fan, and I especailly like the sexual tension and frank dialogue that she writes for her characters. That exists in spades in these three stories, and the plotlines are all unique enough to keep me interested. My only complaint would be that for all the steamy build up, only one of the stories gives us a complete love scene. Palmer writes those so well in other books that I have come to expect them, and was disappointed not to get the payoff in all three stories here.

1 out of 5 stars What I thought it would be!!.......2004-08-03

I've never read a romance before, but it's what I expected it to be - fluff!

If you enjoy the notion of virgin women who act tough on the outside but really just want to melt into the arms of the first man (with a farmer's tan, a bit of muscle, over 6 feet tall, and raise cattle) on the inside (so they can marry them and lose their virignity) then this might be a good read for you.

Or you can take that plot structure and put meat on it for your own amusement, since that is all Diana Palamer has done. And maybe you'll be able to do a better job of convincing your readers of the love that was supposed to have sprung from sudden, uninvited, sexual advances, and put a little more steam into the detail of the marriage consumation acts.

3 out of 5 stars Ho hum..........2004-06-10

While I will not be as brutal as many of the reviewers here I, too, was disappointed with this book. All three stories lacked the charismatic heroes of her best works, and the heroines lacked spirit as well. They all fell in love in a matter of days, there was no emotional conflict as has been Palmer's hallmark and none of the steamy dialogue and sexual tension that has made me such a fan of many of her past works. I never thought I would have to force myself through a Diana Palmer book, but I did with this one. The best thing about this collection is that at least the heroes don't smoke like chimneys. It probably deserves fewer stars than I am giving, but as I devoted fan I cannot bring myself to do it. Suffice it to say, this one is going to the used bookstore, pronto.

5 out of 5 stars Three Wonderful Stories.......2001-11-27

I loved these stories. I have a copy that I have got to reread every six months.

3 out of 5 stars More of those cowboys!.......2000-10-06

While not quite up to the quality of some of the earlier Long Tall Texans, these guys weren't obnoxiously macho either. I certainly liked them much better then Justin and Calhoun.

I thought the story with Luke Craig and the camp for delinquent boys was touching and enjoyed the other two stories also. Not an outstandingly wonderful book--but a pleasant evening's read and I also bought the audio book and enjoyed it too.

1 out of 5 stars Well I was not happy with this one(not even worth a star).......1999-11-06

I like Diana Palmer's books and really enjoy finding the ones that have gone out of print so I was really excited when I went to the bookstore and found the latest intstallment of the Long Tall Texans. I got it home read it in about two minutes and hated it. It was a waste of my money and I hope that her new book Paper Rose brings her back to the great writing that all of her fans know she is capable of. Hoping for something better. P.S. If you are going to write a book don't make it so hurried, and I can buy lots of far fetched Romance stories, but having known a person for five minutes just does not seem long enough to decide to get married

3 out of 5 stars one in three.......2003-06-06

I love diana palmer's stories because of the formula they follow of a strong male hero and a naive lead woman. The fact that these stories takes place in texas and I live here was an added bonus as well.
That aside.... after i read "long tall texas 2" I couldn't wait to snap up the third edition in this series. the Termayne brothers really drew me in. I thought that Harden's story would be the one to make the book worth wild but strangely Evan's story was what truly drew me in.

This book is really three books combined into one. The first is about Harden Tremayne. He has a hard, jaded outlook on life and women. A trip to Chicago leads to a chance meeting with a woman who ultimately changes his life. This story though while good lacked depth. It seemed to wrap up to nice and neat and definitely to quickly.

Evan Tremayne is the second story told. He had fears of intimacy with innocents, i.e. our virgin heroine, because of his great size and strength. This is the longest story and in my opinion the best. Well rounded and seeming to end the story well without dragging on or cutting it abruptly off. This story is steamy and has a bit of humor in it. The characters seem the most well matched and the story the most believable.

The third story is about Donovan. A man who hates rich women after his father was involved in a scandal with a rich socialite. His meeting with a rich debutant sparks a romance that seems at time ill placed. Their chemistry is there but the love scenes between them seem almost akward and both begin and end annoyingly abruptly.

I would reccommend this book for Evan's story alone and it's a definite fun read. Both Harden and Donovan's stories are entertaining so give it a go.

3 out of 5 stars Not too bad, better than the first two........2000-04-22

I thought this book was the best one yet in the series. I liked that characters from the other books showed up in this one. The only problem with this book is that the stories are too short to develop a well-rounded plot. There are times when I'm not sure I'm reading about a "long, tall Texan." It's too predictable. But the characters were well-developed and they make you want to finish the story, which is why it gets three stars.

5 out of 5 stars Long, Tall Texans Burke & Coltrain.......2005-10-18

Back cover reads:
Everyone's favorite Lone Star hunks are back by popular demand! Fall in love all over again with Long, Tall Texans Burke & Coltrain...

Todd Burke: Mr. Mom to a teenage daughter
Todd wasn't looking for a commitment. Having one temperamental female under his roof was quite enough, thank you. Still, his rodeo-riding daughter had taken a liking to cowgirl Jane Parker--and secretly, Todd had, too. But with Todd and Jane both sporting tempers as hot as branding irons, this matchup would lead either to a showdown at high noon--or a match made in Texas!

Jeb Coltrain: Physician on a mission
Jeb treated fellow doctor Louise Blakely like the enemy. Her father had cruelly betrayed him and he would stop at nothing to get his revenge. Jeb planned on ambushing Louise with a fake marriage proposal to ensure her defeat. But what the good doctor didn't count on was falling in love and breaking his own rules of engagement--even if that meant surrendering his heart.

Don't miss your chance to enjoy romance Long, Tall Texans style!

2 out of 5 stars Two Stars.......2007-05-22

Regan and Burke's stories were pretty good. I couldn't stand Emmett at all. First he hates Melody for helping his first wife run off with another man and is very nasty to her. Then suddenly Emmett then he wants to marry her after one afternoon on the ranch and the next day Emmett to have a baby right away. This seemed to be a pattern with Emmett. After losing his parents Emmett rushed into marriage with Adell and had kids
pretty soon afterwards. No one pointed out to him that maybe rushing into a marriage and a family wasn't a good idea especially after losing both his parents instead all the fault of the divorce is on his wife from what's mentioned in the book and how Emmmett tries Melody I can understand why Adell left. I liked Melody a lot. She started out the story a very strong charactor until she meets Emmett then some how loses her strong charactor along with her back bone by doing everything Emmett tells her want to do.

2 out of 5 stars The Others Were Better.......2004-08-03

This book was too quick, and the characters developed too quickly. I thought that the first Long, Tall Texan book (Calhoun, Justin & Tyler) was great, but this one lacked substence. Emmette's story was the worst. First he hates Melody then he wants to marry her and have a baby with her after just one day. That is just so unrealistic. Not my favorite Long Tall Texan, I wouldn't waste my time if I were you.

2 out of 5 stars a kinda letdown to the series.......2004-02-10

unlike the first and second book , this which follows on the series of the long tall texans and the book , most wanted , pales in comparison with the books

the stories are too short and it just jumps into the ending
not an enjoyable read

pass on this books and get others

3 out of 5 stars Three Stars.......2004-01-01

I gave it four stars because I liked Regan and Burke's stories but I didn't like Emmett because he moved way to fast. First he hates Melody for helping his first wife run off with another man, then he wants to marry her after one afternoon on the ranch and her to have a baby right away. From secondary charactors this seemed to be a pattern with Emmett. After losing his parents (yes tragically) he rushed into marriage with Adell and had kids pretty soon afterwards. Yet its never even addressed by anyone. The reason repeatedly given for his divorce was it was his wife's fault and that poor Emmett was blameless. No one pointed out to him that maybe rushing into a marriage and a family wasn't a good idea especially after losing both his parents. Yet he does the same thing with Melody. Rushing into another marriage so quickly, even though his kids obviously still have problems reguarding their mother's departure.
I liked Melody a lot but it seemed like he was telling her want to do through the whole story. That he wanted to get married in a week and that he wanted her to get pregnant. The wrap up of the story was too quick also. I did like the wild antics that the kids they were a roit.

5 out of 5 stars response to the Tyler, Colhoun and Justin.......2002-06-14

This indeed includes the proper people it is advertising. The Justin, Colhoun, and Tyler book is dark blue with a dark texan on the cover (I own it and have read it several times, so have my friends) We are part of a book group and we absolutly enjoy her writing. I find my self rereading almost all of them!
