Very Good.......2007-06-27
I received earlier than I expected. I think the delivery service is best than I've ever experienced. thank you.
Good review Book.......2007-06-03
This book is really helpful if you buy it when you start taking your engineering courses because most of the professors look at this book while picking up exam questions. Lets not forget its also a good review for FE.
If you buy this book when you are junior or upper sophomore and start using it as reference it wont be new book to you when you start reviewing it for FE.
Rapid Preparation for FE review.......2007-06-01
Great book, very helpful. Lots of solved examples. Nice break down into small chapters. Just great. If I will pass my exam I will rate it awesome.
Very thorough preparation.......2007-05-14
Make sure you get this book about 3 months before you are scheduled to take the FE exam, otherwise it won't be very helpful. All the questions follow the brief lectures and are organized by chapter, so it doesn't really give you the opportunity to practice in a style similar to the actual exam. I would first reccommend the sample question booklet availabe from NCEES, but if you feel you really need alot of prep, this is the way to go
A Lot of Helpful Information.......2007-05-12
Information was very useful but make sure you start more than 1 week ahead of time to get it all.

YES! You have the right book!!
For thirty (30!) years the world's best seller (printed in 28 languages), RAPID INTERPRETATION OF EKG's is the most popular and most referenced of all EKG (ECG) texts. But beware... success breeds imitations.
Competitors, aware of its longstanding success, imitate this classic by using synonyms for RAPID or INTERPRETATION or by substituting "ECG's" for EKG's. Don't be deceived by the numerous look-alikes with enticing titles. There is only one RAPID INTERPRETATION OF EKG's.
Now it is the most current text of its kind, since it is updated yearly. Extensively illustrated and simplified to assure rapid comprehension, an entire chapter is easily consumed and mastered in a sitting. In the process of learning EKG interpretation, the reader gains a deeper understanding of cardiac physiology. Emphasis is on UNDERSTANDING rather than memorizing, so readers quickly acquire a lifetime of practical knowledge.

Buy this book.......2007-08-15
I did well on step 1 (>260) and this book really helped me. You are putting yourself at a major loss without using this book. It is written for understanding and can really teach you a lot. Read it cover to cover before boards. Goljan is the master of step 1.
Not as good as 1st Edition.......2007-08-14
I began using this edition of Goljan, which was good. However, I flipped through a friend's first edition of Goljan's rapid review and was instantly surprised about the clarity and useful tricks it has for getting the Step 1 and path shelf questions correct. I purchased the red book, 1st edition immediately, and then solely relied on it to get most all of the path shelf and usmle path and integrated questions correct. Thanks Goljan!!!
very good book .......2007-08-06
this is a book that all who wish take step 1 most read, good pictures, good explanations
Absolutely fantastic.......2007-07-29
The book is in bullet form,
which was a bit discouraging at first, but the fact that I bought it in the middle of my second year is another factor that hurt me. I wish i would have bought it day one, and gone through it through the two years, my base would be so much stronger.
Also, for DO students, another book that i would recomend (For OMM) that you get at the begining of your two years is Saverese's green book, those questions were clutch for the comlex.

Was a great book in its time........2007-09-20
There is no question that the author was a world class dog trainer. It is just as obvious that the book was written decades ago when beating the dog was an acceptable form of discipline. We are a little more sophisticated than that today.
The training techniques and protocols are timeless and I highly recommend them. I used them to train my Lab and the results have been great. But I don't beat him!
Great Book.......2007-07-16
This book is awesome, although it was writen a long time ago it is a great guide on how to go about training a retriever for waterfowling. I read this book after reading "Game Dog" by the same author and they are great complements to one another. Game Dog is more structured by the pups age, but "Water Dog" gives more detail on some of the instruction and also talks alittle more about disipline and what to do if the dog refuses your commands.
Old but still correct.......2007-06-08
Mr. Wolters was really the first to strongly urge that puppies should start being trained at a very early age. What stands out about this old book is the emphasis on common sense. Short training lessons for puppies and consistency in how the owner trains and what he/she expects from the dog. I've used this book several times in the past and think it's just as good now as it was in the early '60's.
waterdog book.......2007-02-12
had this book along time ago lost it just got my three boys a white lab from santa it is only 12 weeks old already doing commands on a whistle
classic dog training.......2007-01-03
This book is easy to read and contains a ton of great information about dog training. Be forewarned, that if you plan on using a training collar you should get a book that covers those basics as well since this book was written before that training tool became available.
This is one of his later books and as such contains improvements in technique and his writing style. This is _the book_ if you're training a retriever. His methods for teaching a dog to do blind retrieves are a little logistically difficult and I'd suggest not using them unless you have the resources nearby.

Customer Reviews:
the stretches in this book really work.......2007-07-14
I have osteo arthritis and fibromyalgia and was in pain daily, both moving and sitting still. After having problems with daily prescription meds, I would take OTC pain meds only when it was too painful to move. After hearing the Doctor on CoasttocoastAM, I decided to give the book a try. It's a miracle, after three months of doing the daily TM's, I am pain free. I can do all the things I haven't been able to do in years. I haven't changed anything else in my life except read this book. Thanks Dr Weisberg!!
Feeling Great!.......2007-07-08
I really enjoyed reading this book and was especially excited to learn about the 6 thirty second exercises that I, as a senior citizen, could do to get my body in better shape. I have been having regular chiropractic treatments for more than 50 years, but now I'm finding that my back is feeling good without them. I suppose I might sometime in the future need to again consult a chiropractor, but for now, I'm feeling great! The exercises are easy to do and because they take only a total of 3 minutes each day, I have no trouble following through and doing them with regularity. I recommended the book to my older brother who has been having severe back pain. Now he is also doing the exercises and feels better than he has for many years.
Taking Responsibility for Your Own Body.......2007-05-12
Dr. Weisberg is a breath of fresh air in an age of victimization. While others push harmful drugs on us to relieve the pain that is an "inevitable" part of aging and everyday life, he provides the rationale and method for taking care of yourself. I'm a believer in trying routines that put the burden of success on me, not a drug or some contraption. I read his book, tried the stetching routine and was immediately rewarded with the elation that comes from a relaxed, smoothworking body. The soreness in my wrists, forearms and back went away. I've greatly increased my daily exercise routine and it feels good. This book is the real deal.
Great Book!.......2007-04-18
I am a 60 year old woman with Fibromyalgia and Osteoarthritis. I have been in chronic pain for 13 or so years. I've tried everything...chiropractic, massage, acupunture, pain medication, chinese herbs, hypnosis, magnet therapy, myotherapy and much more. I came across this book in the library and I was skeptical but interested in what the Doctor had to say. Well, I implemented his program (I figured I could do anything for 3 minutes) and although I had a hard time getting into 2 of the therapuetic movements, after about 3 weeks I am starting to notice a difference. I am so amazed. I still have pain but it's getting better all the time and I am able to move my joints and muscles better. I am very optimistic that this program will eventually get me pain free. Thank you Dr. Wesiberg.
This program works!.......2007-03-07
For those experiencing pain, this is the book to get! I have been doing them more-or-less daily for over two years following treatment for a herniated disc. Before I started them, I could not garden, play with my dogs or vacuum my home. When done regularly, they are amazingly effective at disc repair (yes, that's how good they make you feel), as well as relief of arthritis in my knees and shoulder. Yes, the exercises that Dr. Weisberg promotes are indeed yoga-based, so if you want to spend your money and hours of your time, take a yoga class or buy a yoga video. However, if you want to truly HEAL YOURSELF, then buy this book and do the exercises regularly. Some are difficult at first, so do not try to work past your pain - over time, you will be doing them all and loving the way you feel! What's to lose for 3 minutes a day?
Book Description
A vivid, funny, and viscerally powerful memoir about childhood, assimilation, food, and growing up in the 1980s
As a Vietnamese girl coming of age in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Bich Nguyen is filled with a rapacious hunger for American identity. In the pre-PC era Midwest, where the devoutly Christian blond-haired, blue-eyed Jennifers and Tiffanys reign supreme, Nguyen's barely conscious desire to belong transmutes into a passion for American food. More exotic seeming than her Buddhist grandmother's traditional specialtiesspring rolls, delicate pancakes stuffed with meats, fried shrimp cakesthe campy, preservative-filled delicacies of mainstream America capture her imagination. And in this remarkable book, the glossy branded allure of such American foods as Pringles, Kit Kats, and Toll House cookies become an ingenious metaphor for her struggle to fit in, to become a real American.
Beginning with Nguyen's family's harrowing migration from Saigon in 1975, Stealing Buddha's Dinner is nostalgic and candid, deeply satisfying and minutely observed, and stands as a unique vision of the immigrant experience and a lyrical ode to how identity is often shaped by the things we long for.
Customer Reviews:
candid memoir of 70-80's American food in the midwest.......2007-09-11
"Stealing Buddha's Dinner" is as much Ms. Nguyen's story as it is mine. Ms. Nguyen reflects back on her childhood memories of TV commericials of Kool Aid, Carnation Instant Breakfast, and Hamburger Helper; her Dutch neighborhood of pork chops and shepard's pie; her grandmother's canh chua and bo xao voi hanh; and as if that wasn't enough, her stepmother Rosa's sopas. Throughout it all, Ms. Nguyen tries to find her identity in all these clashing cultures, desperately wanting to fit in, only to find solace in solitude, TV, and books. But perhaps the greatest mystery is what happened to her real mother.
It's truly a touching story of what it means to be an American with Asian eyes and black hair.
Is it more a problem of poverty or lack of substance?.......2007-08-29
This book is non-commital yet oddly angry and unsympathetic toward the narrator's kin: an ill-fitting immigrant step-mother, her ill-suited marraige and their whole patchwork family hold much potential for warmth and growth...but achieve none. Through the book I hoped for some grace, beauty or forgiveness - that the young narrator might find a connection to her family, her community or her nation(s).
At times there are glimpes of a connection, but in the end all of her self-pitiful assessments remain: her sisters were mean, father was distant, step-mother was an overly ambitious, class-confused control freak.
I'd hoped to learn that these fabulous, interesting people- her father, sisters, step-mother, and so-called friends (nothing more to her than ineffective stepping-stones to social success) actually had valid motives and had made valiant efforts, but in the end it was simple: they had not understood her and she had not understood them.
Most importantly, I learned that through her young life she'd been miserable. She'd wanted a lot of foods and other things she couldn't have, which was startlingly familiar to me because I was a kid at this time and I was poor too! I wanted all of those fabulous things like potato chips and soda-pop and barbie dolls, and I didn't get any of it either.
So perhaps this book is most eloquent as a story about growing up poor in America. Perhaps the difference between being a second generation immigrant and a fourth generation immigrant isn't so great as the difference between being poor and not being poor.
Or perhaps I read too much into this book, which may in fact just be about an angry girl who didn't know or get what she wanted.
If you're looking for an introduction into this time period and into an overlooked American population, or if you want an overview/example of the history and experience of Vietnamese/American refugee/immigrants, this is a good start...very simple and skimming the surface.
But for some really excellent and available Vietnamese literature, try "Novel without a Name" or "Paradise of the Blind" and for the Vietnamese-American experience, consider Le Ly Hayslip's "When Heaven & Earth Changed Places", for starters...for those who want to start with a little depth.
Awesome Book.......2007-08-23
This is an excellent book about growing up as a first generation american. I really identified witht the authors story. I also really enjoyed her style and all the awesome discriptions of food. Every time I finished a chapter, I wanted to get some pringles or a hostess cupcake. However, the thing I liked the most was that after reading this book, I realized that I was not alone. As a child I always felt different, but now that I am college I have learned to embrace who I am because being different is ok. Buy this book! Its great!
Great book!.......2007-07-05
I thought this book was excellent! Bich's memories of food, books and life in the 80s brought a ton of my own memories back to me. I may go back and read the Little House series again! :-) Very well written and compelling. I immediately passed it on to my mom who enjoyed it as well.
a fun, educational and interesting read.......2007-06-09
Growing up in Wisconsin I remember very well when many Vietnamese came to live in and around our city. Bich Ninh Nguyen brings her experience to life from the immigrants perspective and I felt as if I was there with her all along the way. This is an excellently writen book.
Book Description
A previous National Director of Education for Evelyn Wood Reading Dynamics presents his do-it-yourself program for increasing reading speed and boosting comprehension.
"Speed reading is one of the truly useful educational ideas of the last few years, and this book can be the least expensive and most efficient way you can learn it." --William Proxmire, United States Senator
The perfect answer to today's information explosion, Peter Kump's rapid reading method has already helped thousands of people to read up to eight times faster, with better concentration and retention.
This program brings together the best of what classroom speed reading courses have to offer, and distills fundamental principles and skills that can be learned at home with the help of the drills and exercises provided. And because it lets readers choose their own material and set their own pace, it's the ideal method for busy people juggling a full schedule.
Breakthrough Rapid Reading makes conquering information overload a reality. So whether it's cutting down on that backlog of business reports and technical matter or scaling that mountain of newspapers and leisure reading, getting up to speed is only a matter of time and practice.

Good Book!.......2007-08-30
A very good book to help you speed read in no time!
Shipping was very fast. Just as what you'd expect from amazon.
Outdated but adequate.......2007-08-27
This book covers the basics but you have to look hard to find them. This book came out in 1998 so it is a bit dated especially with the new training software that is available now. Reading pages in a book and timing yourself is a pain. I would say go with some newer software like Speed Reader-X or Ace Reader (just search amazon to find them) which is much easier to use and has newer updated information.
BEST SPEEDREADING BOOK EVER!! 6 STARS!!.......2007-04-23
I will make this review concise for you slow readers, who have yet to learn the magic powers of speed reading.
Throw away all you think you know about reading faster. Many people do not start a speed reading course because they think they will not enjoy reading faster. YOU WILL ENJOY READING FASTER. People do not begin a speed reading course because they think that they will not be able to comprehend what they read. HOW ABOUT 80-90%+ COMPREHENSION?
I have studied various methods and techniques of speed reading. I have taken the Howard Berg course, the Photo Reading course, and have read several other books about speed reading. I have also taken the Evelyn Wood Reading Dynamics course (which this book is heavily based off of seeing that the author is the former director) Nothing has helped me more than this book. This book gives you a step by step (1 chapter a day) time line and drills so that within 6 weeks you too can be reading 3-8 times faster (750-2000wpm+ some 5000+!) WITH GREATER COMPREHENSION AND RECALL. This book teaches you how to read everything (similar to Evelyn Woods Reading Dynamics course). It teaches you how to read fiction, nonfiction, text books, newspapers, as well as correspondence, and mail. One thing that I do have to add as a sidenote: if you are more of a visual or auditory learner i recommend the Evelyn Woods Reading Dynamics, and Evelyn Woods Learning Dynamics courses (very cheap on ebay) only because I know that it may be difficult for ADHD prone individuals like myself to have the executive function to sit down and do the drills everyday. It actually took me over 2 years before i finally sat down and did the drills and went through the book, but I AM EXTREMELY HAPPY I DID. My comprehension and love for reading has gone up dramatically.
STUDENTS: BUY THIS BOOK FOR YOUR SELF AND FOR YOUR GRADES
PARENTS: BUY THIS BOOK SO YOU CAN READ MORE BOOKS AND GIVE A GREATER EXAMPLE TO YOUR CHILDREN, AND ALSO SO YOU CAN READ MORE BOOKS ON PARENTING AND BE BETTER PARENTS
EDUCATORS: BUY THIS BOOK SO THAT YOU CAN GIVE THIS TO YOUR STUDENTS, AND HELP YOU CHILDREN TO BECOME LIFELONG LEARNERS!
The only other books that I can recommend as much as this one are MAXIMUM ACHIEVEMENT BY BRIAN TRACY, GOALS BY BRIAN TRACY, THINK AND GROW RICH, FEELING GOOD, MAGIC OF THINKING BIG, AS A MAN THINKETH, PSYCHOLOGY OF WINNING and EAT TO LIVE GOD BLESS YOU ALL
A Great Book-A Must Read!.......2007-03-28
I recommend this book to anyone who wishes to increase their reading speed. By the sixth lesson I had gone from 250 to 700 words per minute and my comprehension was greatly improved. My only wish is that I had discovered this book years ago.
Great Book.......2007-03-12
I've only read about 1/10 if this book and I've already improved my reading speed from from 198 wpm to 300 wpm. Check this out. It will give you an all new understandig of reading..

Deliberate training in firefigher rescue and survival is a field that is new to many in the fire service and private industry alike. For those firefighters and company officers assigned to a Rapid Intervention Team (RIT), not making the correct split-second decisions--such as immediately recognizing changes in fire behavior or failing to evaluate their level of SCBA air--can result in the loss of the lives of the entire team. In an effort to reduce the number of line-of-duty firefighting injuries and deaths, while at the same time being proactive in the fire service training and leadership, authors Richard Kolomay and Robert Hoff have drawn upon their combined 50+ years of firefighting experience to put together this comprehensive guide.
Key Features & Benefits
- Provides an awareness of firefighter safety and proactive fire service training
- Describes various types of serious firefighter injuries and fatality incidents during emergency incident operations
- Details recommended Rapid Intervention Team operating methods and procedures, as well as how to activate a Rapid Intervention Team

On top of their game........2003-12-30
This isn't just a book. It's a life or death Rescue and Survival manual that's long overdue for the Fire Service. It's excellent and defines what RIT and preparedness is all about. Rick and Bob know the dynamics and commitment of what it takes to succeed by experience and it's reinforced in black and white. Make no mistake, this book doesn't leave off at just RIT from the hands on "team" but it covers, in detail, the full scope from the chain of Command. Respsonibility and ability is what makes any evolution successful and there is no doubt these guys know what it takes. Anyone who is serious about learning RIT needs to have this book. Do yourself a favor. Buy it!!

Incredible planning / problem solving tool.......2007-06-07
Really great reference book for identifying and solving problems, planning and information mapping. Takes several management systems and combines them in a practical, time-effective method for working individually or in teams.
Simple, but not simplistic.......2007-05-06
This book offers problem solving techniques that may be used well in the suggested sequence, and may be used independently, as well. And, of course, each technique employs Post-It Notes.
At first glance, it may seem that Straker's techniques are almost too simple -- simplistic. They are not. In fact, they reflect a deep understanding of the problem solving, and how to profitably involve groups in that process.
The book is short, well-organized, and clear. Reading it cover to cover won't take long and is time well spent. However, you can cherry pick his chapters and still benefit.
My partner and I recently introduced Straker's method (and book) to a client -- a Washington think tank. They were immediately able to reach faster, better solutions that included a broader range of input. They have become, in their words, "sticky note zealots." Well, me too.
Highly recommended.

Very good tool.......2006-11-07
This is an easy tool to follow the rules for problem solving. It has helped to reduce the time of response in hard difficult working situations. To maintain the level of usage, the students read it for present information in class in other ways, in more understandble way.
Constantly recommending this book to others.......2006-11-03
I'm the author of "Thinkertoys: A Handbook of Creative Thinking Techniques," and other books on creative thinking. As such, I read pretty much everything that's published that can be useful in facilitating creative thinking workshops and seminars. I find the ideas in this book fun, useful and extremely effective. I'm constantly recomending it to people looking for ways to become more creative in their personal and business lives.

Rapid Review Series: the in-thing.......2007-08-07
I have heard so much about the RR series, and I decided to give it a try, and boy, was I impressed? Talk about how splendiferous this RR Biochemistry is. Also, I have heard so much about Goljan, Goljan, Goljan. So within 5 days or so of laying my hands on the RR Biochem, I ordered for the Pathology brother written by Goljan. They say the man sure knows how to tie Path, Biochem, etc together. I can't wait to get my hands on that as well. RR Biochem rocks, and I am now almost certain RR Path rocks more, if what I hear from reviews follows
Great Biochemistry Review for the Boards but not for class.......2007-03-31
If you are a MS1 I would suggest using Lippincott's Biochemistry. However, when it comes to the Boards this is the book you want as following Goljan's tradition of integration in not only includes relevant Biochm but also alot of Pathology. I would suggest to use this book for review alongside with the Rapid Review Pathology and Goljan's audio lectures.
