Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars An enjoyable series..........2005-03-18

I enjoyed the Springwater Seasons but I missed the action. You only saw one bad guy in this series & it still lacked the adventure that I was looking for. It was nice watching this town blossom in these books but I still would've liked some excitement. If you are looking for a nice, quick & easy read then this is a good series. If you thrive for a hot steamy romance or a little mystery in your books then you need to pass on this series.

5 out of 5 stars Couldn't Put It Down!.......2004-02-20

I enjoyed the first book, Springwater, so much that I rushed out and bought this next book in the series. I was caught up in the town and wanted to learn more about the characters that I had fallen in love with. Springwater Seasons is a combination of four shorter stories that take you through a time period of five years in Springwater. Linda Lael Miller keeps you updated on everyone you fall in love with in the town and continually adds new and fun characters. The women introduced in the four novels are all wonderful and so independent! Springwater is a great town to be a part of...even if it is only as a reader.

4 out of 5 stars A guilty pleasure of the best sort..........2002-06-06

Linda Lael Miller writes romance in a way that is sometimes so necessary - the people are wonderful, their lives (though hard) are wonderful, and their romances are so full of love and purpose that you imagine their world crumbling without the perfection of it.

And I love every minute of it.

Though slightly less sophisticated than her Primrose Creek series, the Springwater novels are to me a happy little world that's pleasant and loving and - with the modern day continuation of A Springwater Wedding - heartwarming in its continuity.

5 out of 5 stars LINDA LAEL MILLER HAS DONE IT AGAIN.......2002-01-19

YES, LINDA LAEL MILLER HAS CERTAINLY DONE IT AGAIN. SHE IS AN EXCELLENT WRITER IN ROMANCE WRITING. IN MY OPINION SHE IS ONE OF THE BEST IF NOT THE BEST. I ENJOYED SPRINGWATER VERY MUCH. WHEN I FIRST SAW THE BOOK I HAD SECOND THOUGHTS OF BUYING IT BUT I DO NOT REGRET BUYING THIS ABSOLUTE FABULOUS BOOK. THE CHARCATERS IN THIS NOVEL SEEMS SO REAL SO FRIENDLY.

5 out of 5 stars Some Seasons!!!!!!!.......2001-09-04

I knew when buying this book that it would be good, but I never knew it would this Good. I couldnt put it down. After finishing one book I would wish that it hadnt ended cause of the loving charachters but then I would start the other of the four stories and see the previous characters in it and become enthrawled into their lives once again.
To be quite honest, I cannot say which story I enjoyed the most. They were all so heart-warmingly sweet. I feel in love with each and every person residing in Springwater.
I suggest that Springwater should be read before this book as it is the first in the line of this collection.
ENJOY!!!!!!!

Book Description

Linda Lael Miller returns to an unforgettable Montana town for a very special occasion....

SPRINGWATER WEDDING

Once a frontier stagecoach stop, tiny Springwater has grown and changed and entered the twenty-first century. Cattle rustlers may still be stirring up trouble, but now they're high-tech operators in a modern world. Where stagecoaches once rolled along muddy roads, the Internet is now the newest highway in town. But heartbreak is still heartbreak and love still love, and Springwater still boasts a rich legacy of joy, sorrow, and second chances -- as two childhood sweethearts discover when they rekindle a long-ago passion in the place they will always call home.

Maggie McCaffrey left her fast-paced corporate job to take a chance on a more rewarding -- but riskier -- business venture: turning the dilapidated Springwater Station into a bed-and-breakfast. But Maggie didn't count on running straight into J.T. Wainwright, the hometown boy who stole her heart many years before. A tough former New York City cop, J.T. survived a grave gunshot wound and returned to Springwater to find a better way of life. Now, as deputy town marshal, he's facing off with modern-day cattle thieves who are plaguing local ranchers. Stronger than ever, J.T. seems ready for anything -- except, of course, Maggie.

As Maggie's B&B begins to take root, a delightful new cast of Springwater locals passes through its doors. Maggie's parents, Kathleen and Reece, are finding that their forty-year marriage requires a little renegotiating now and then. Cindy, a teenage newlywed with a baby on the way, is learning about love and sacrifice for the first time. And town marshal Purvis Digg is turning Springwater upside down by dating a woman he met on the Internet.

As always, Linda Lael Miller enchants readers with her portrayal of the complex tangle of life and love in a small town. With her trademark sensuality and her ?air for wit, she once again brings Springwater to life -- this time, at the dawn of a new era.

Download Description

Bringing a huge cast featuring the descendants of the beloved "Springwater" series, Linda Lael Miller offers a delightful new vision of the Montana town where SUVs have eclipsed stagecoaches, and railroads have given way to the information superhighway. But no matter the period, romance is still romance. When Maggie McCaffrey, a descendant of Will and Olivia McCaffrey, returns to the town, the one person she isn't prepared to run into is J.T. Wainright, the man who stole her heart years ago.

3 out of 5 stars Pretty good start but it fizzeled out!.......2007-05-16

I have mixed feelings about this book I give praises to the auther for actually making me believe this was the same frontier town of Springwater. I was quit skeptical to say the least when I started the book. Although 100 years had pasted I was able to wrap my mind around the concept. THE STORY started off strong but I felt like it was a bit bogged down with substory lines that were completely boring. I skipped over a lot. I thought it was very predictable, but sweet. AT LEAST I WAS ABLE TO FINISH THIS ONE!!! I am reading Miller for the first time and now about 5 books in, I realize she is a HIT OR MISS author. WITH HER YOU ARE NOT GAURNTEED A GOOD READ.

4 out of 5 stars A nice conclusion to this series..........2005-04-01

Although I was disappointed to jump 100+ years ahead of the other books in this series I still enjoyed this book. In this book you follow Maggie McCaffery (Jacob & June-Bug are her ancestors) & J.T. Wainwright (Scully & Evangeline are his ancestors). Maggie & J.T. grew up together in Springwater & were young lovers & eventually they split up & married others. 10 years later they both come back to Springwater to begin new lives & they re-kindle their love for one another very quickly. The beginning of this book is pretty slow but the ending is action packed. It made up for anything that I was missing at the beginning. It was nice hearing references to the other people in this series that lived a century earlier. If you have followed the Springwater series then I recommend this book if you are willing to jump to modern day.

3 out of 5 stars Not as bad as some of the reviews suggest!.......2003-06-24

Apparently, from the other reviews, either you'll like it or you won't. I am in the middle of the road. I wished for more sparks between Maggie and JT- the romance was watered-down some. But the story was sweet. Maggie and JT go way back and because of family interference and misunderstandings they ended up with others and went through individual divorces - only to come back home to Springwater finding each other and renewing a relationship once again. Excitment is added with cattle poisoning, murder, and someone stalking Maggie. There are sub-characters that add a lot to the story as well. I suggest reading it but I don't know if I would recommend buying it. But it is a sweet read.

1 out of 5 stars The most boring romance novel I've ever read.......2002-05-06

It was so boring that I didn't even bother to finish reading it. I really didn't care who the criminals were. The hero and heroine are lukewarm to the extreme. The "sexy" scenes weren't sexy (even the most intimate scene in the book makes you want to laugh out loud because of the heros comments).

I've never read a worse novel in this genre.

1 out of 5 stars Hated it, but since the ending was already spoiled..........2002-04-13

I read all the Springwater series and loved them until this one. I had trouble getting into it and once I finally got into it it ended too soon. Poor Daphne, am I the only one who couldn't get over this part of the story line? Oh well, her husband isn't her husband - let me adopt a baby and get over it. I actually started to dislike Maggie because of her oh well attitude towards this tragedy happening to her best friend. I think I would slap any man who told me my best friends life was just turned upside down and in the same sentence asked me to marry him. And then she didn't see Daphne for awhile? I know I would need my best friend at that time. This contemporary Springwater is filled with a bunch of self centered jerks.

The latest in Linda Lael Miller's Springwater series, A Springwater Christmas introduces a boarding house spinster and a prodigal son to the mix of loveable characters in this frontier town.

Miss Olivia Darling seizes her first and last opportunity for adventure when she uses her inheritance from her late aunt to buy a boarding house. Her courage starts to falter, however, when all the customers steer straight for the rival McCafferys' hotel. When a tall, handsome stranger darkens her door, Olivia is instantly attracted to him. But Jack McLaughlin is determined to keep himself removed from Olivia and life in Springwater. Haunted by a dark past, Jack once failed those who loved him most. Now as he finds himself falling for Olivia, Jack must face the consequences of his past, or risk the dreams of his future.

Miller's warm characters and sleek, unaffected writing style neatly disguise what is not always the most profound plot. While Jack enjoys a complex internal debate, Olivia's progression from grumpy activist to drama club president feels hollow. But profundity is not the point here: the dialogue is realistic, the romance is solid, the sensuality is restrained, and the final result is sure to keep more than a few readers up past their bedtime. --Nancy R.E. O'Brien

Book Description

Come home to the heart of a frontier town....

Linda Lael Miller created magic in five novels set in Springwater, Montana -- and in the delightful characters whose lives and hearts entwine in each of her enchanting tales. Now, come back to Springwater for an unforgettable holiday -- and join in the tears and the smiles when a prodigal son returns to find love at long last.

When Jack McLaughlin drifted into Springwater, he carried little more with him than his bitter memories of the Civil War and the shattering secret of a promise betrayed in the heat of battle. Wounded soul-deep, and fearing the wrath of his own parents, Jack has hidden his identity and come to Springwater to see his mother and father from afar, even if he can't bear to face them. Taking odd jobs and keeping a low profile, Jack finds a safe haven at the town's new rooming house.

Olivia Darling had never done anything impulsive -- until she left the east and opened a boarding house in Springwater. But still an outsider at heart, and struggling to make a success of her business, Olivia finds herself turning to the other newcomer in town, the rough-hewn and embittered man she's taken in. As the Christmas season brings them together, Olivia finds in Jack's arms a passionate sweetness she never knew existed. And with the stunning revelation of Jack's true identity, all of Springwater witnesses a heartwarming reunion that will change their lives forever.

5 out of 5 stars Had me crying & laughing out loud..........2005-03-24

This was a really good book. The last book left off with our meeting Olivia who was saved from the train wreck. This book starts off with a stranger riding into Springwater & he stays at Olivia's rooming house. It's no secret because it's pretty obvious from the description & right off in the book so I'm just going to state that the stranger is one of June Bug's & Jacob's long lost twin boys returned using the name Jack. We've all thought that both sons were dead but here you will see a reunion as well as Olivia & "Jack" falling in love. This book had me crying & laughing out loud. It's a really great heartwarming tale. Read it!

5 out of 5 stars What A Series!.......2004-02-25

I have read through the Springwater Series faster than anything else! It is such a heartwarming frontier town and really makes you feel like you are part of the group.

This book picks up right where Jessica's story left off. At the end of her book, Miss Olivia Darling was saved from the wrecked train and was moving to Springwater to start a boarding house. It's been about a year, and she hasn't had a boarder...until the mysterious Jack McLaughlin shows up on her doorstep. He has a past that he's trying to hide, but also wrestling with whether or not he should reveal his secrets. It goes on from there...

I cried when I read this book. It was touching. It is predictable...as most romance novels are...but it was such a heartwarming tale. Read it!

4 out of 5 stars Not just for the holidays!.......2003-11-23

The title led me to believe that this was a warm fuzzy book appropriate for the holidays. However the reviews set me straight and i decided to read it. I had not read the prequels to this so the characters were all new. The story line is aptly told in other reviews. This is an excellent story, certainly with a different plot, that is about friendship, love, and forgiveness. The hero......jack/will/wesley is a hunk by any name. His emotions bare his soul to us. Olivia is a "spinster" with an enormous amount of love to offer once she opens herself up to those possibilities. I wish ms miller would have made olivia a bit less spinsterish and perhaps not referred to her so often as being a prickly spinster. You could see the evolution happening but unfortunately the book ended too quickly. I am very glad I picked this one up and would read it again.......even in the summer.

5 out of 5 stars I am dissapointed that this series has ended.......2002-10-09

That's right, I wish the Springwater Series never had to end. It was extremely good from beginning to end. The final book Speringwater Christmas really had a wonderful story. Since the series had to end--------what a way to end!

5 out of 5 stars Truly wonderful - A great finale........2000-08-15

Indeed, "A Springwater Christmas" is a great finale. It is the final chapter in the Springwater series. In this book, two new characters, Jack McLaughlin and Olivia Darling, are introduced. However, Jack has more in common with the folks of Springwater, then is at first believed.

"A Springwater Christmas" is about the romance of Jack and Olivia. It is an enchanting, heartwarming story. It is about hope. Jack and Olivia's feelings are unveiled and they become romantically involved. Jack's past is revealed. A past which involves others in Springwater. Olivia, who thought she would forever remain a spinster, began to thaw in the winter cold.

"A Springwater Christmas" has a surprising twist that will make you cry. It is a book about a special family. Read it and discover the secret revealed.

5 out of 5 stars ANOTHER WINNER.......2007-05-16

I find that when Miller writes a series the first is ALWAYS the best. This story is wonderful! There is very little going on in this book but the relationship between the two main charectors. Very little substory lines. Just these two stuck together in a cabin TRYING NOT TO FALL IN LOVE for 6 monthsI! I LOVED IT! GREAT WRITING! THE SPRINGWATER SEASONS are good also, but a bit rushed and way too short, But Enjoyable all the same.

5 out of 5 stars Loved it.......2006-03-28

I really enjoyed this book. Classic historical romance. Lots of refernces to the cooking of teh period which I enjoy. Its a fast read cover to cover. I felt the chemistry between Scully and Eve immediately and I could feel my worries for them as I read on. I really enjoyed the relationship between Scully and Eve's daughter Abigail. Alot of times children arent fully developed charachters but I cant wait to read Abigail's story in the future.

5 out of 5 stars An enjoyable read..........2005-03-05

Springwater was a very enjoyable read. Evangeline arrives in Springwater with the intentions of marrying Big John who is the cousin of her recently departed husband. When Scully rides up to the station she learns that Big John had to leave town & is not expected back until Spring. Scully is Big John's partner & has promised to look out for Evangeline & her daughter until Big John arrives. Evangeline & Scully quickly realize that they wish to marry each other but neither one is willing to break their promise to Big John. What happens when Big John arrives? You'll have to read to find out. I highly recommend this book. Although it is not a steamy romance it's a good story & a fast read. It is the first book in the Springwater series.

5 out of 5 stars A New Beginning..........2004-02-02

I am looking forward to reading this entire series. The first book caught my attention. It is definitely a romance novel and nothing more. But, I love romance novels! It is the story of a widow and her daughter making the trek West to meet her new husband. Instead she meets the man she loves, but because she's not promised to him she can't have him. It's a sweet story and ends just how you want. Not too stressful, but a fun read!

5 out of 5 stars Twiddle, twiddle, twiddle.............2002-07-25

Ok, so I agree with the reader from California. There is way too much dialogue about "twiddling" and the frequent trips to the outhouse. This is the filler that could have been left out. Other than that, this is a good beginning novel from Ms. Miller. This is the first of her books that I've read, and I'll soon begin reading the four Springwater Seasons novellas, etc. Even if you don't get to the next six books, I'd recommend Springwater itself. It's a fast read, as well as a great love story.

Book Description

Linda Lael Miller returns to the world of her triumphant Western romance, Springwater, to create a delightful new series. Each thrilling Springwater Seasons novel takes place in the tiny stagecoach stop called Springwater, as it blossoms into a bustling Montana town. For a dance-hall girl who's never had much luck with dreams, Springwater may hold the happiness she seeks.

Savannah Rigbey has made a living pouring whiskey and singing in saloons since she was sixteen years old. She's come to Springwater to take up her half-ownership of the local bar -- but her work begins before she even sets foot in town. On the stagecoach to Springwater, a young girl goes into labor -- and Savannah, with her level head and steady hand, aids a gruff doctor in abating a crisis.

Dr. Prescott Parrish has never met a woman like Savannah. Despite her rouge and bangles, she is a virtuous -- though decidedly stubborn -- woman, who ignites his most infuriating emotions. But behind his prickly exterior, Pres harbors painful memories of the Civil War, heartache that may be soothed by a new and fulfilling love. Slowly, Pres and Savannah begin to see each other for who they truly are, with masks removed -- and with passion flaring unexpectedly....

Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars Pretty good book..........2005-03-12

I have to admit that at first I didn't think I was going to care for the book because it was a Dr. & a Saloon Girl. Pretty weird combination but the author made it work really well.

Savannah & Pres are both on a stagecoach with a pregnant girl who goes into labor just outside of Springwater. Savannah can tell that Pres is a doctor & tells him to do something. Shortly after the coach arrives in Springwater & Savannah helps to deliver the baby. Pres who has lost all his money gambling & drinking is stuck in Springwater & Savannah is there to take up her part ownership at the Saloon.

I was much happier with this book then I was in the last book. There was finally a lot more going on. There still wasn't any mystery at all to this book which I'm missing because I usually love a little thrill in my romance book & I've yet to find that in this series. There haven't been any bad guys at all. So far it's just a peaceful little town during the day & we haven't seen the night life in this town yet but hopefully we will.

I recommend this book to anybody looking for a nice, fast & easy read. This is the 3rd book in the series. #1 Springwater #2 Rachel.

4 out of 5 stars A refreshing read........2000-04-15

This book will leave you wanting more from this author. The not-your-average characters connect with an electricity the reader can feel through the entire book.

4 out of 5 stars Nice little vacation for the brain.......2000-03-30

This whole series of books was a nice vacation for the brain. When you're tired of hearing about tragedies and violence and worst possible scenarios, when you've used your brain all day and just need a little quiet time, these are just what the doctor orderred. They are broken down into tiny little books, too, so you can begin and finish them in an afternoon. No high-brow intellectual stimulation, but better than the TV soap-opera drivel. Check them out they're fun!

5 out of 5 stars Savannah was the best in the series!!!.......1999-04-28

I've read all the books in the SpringWater Series and I have to say that "Savannah" Was my absolute favorite! It was warm, witty, and sweet. I fell absolutly in love with Savannah and the Doc. I can't wait until the Christmas novel!!

5 out of 5 stars Another great read.......1999-02-22

This series is terrific. I could not put the book down. My only complaint is it wasn't long enough. Thank goodness for sequels. Savannah is a character that you fall in love with and want only a happy ending for her.

Linda Lael Miller returns to the world of her triumphant Western romance, Springwater, to create a delightful new series. Each thrillingSpringwater Seasons novel takes place in the tiny stagecoach stop calledSpringwater, as it blossoms into a bustling Montana town. For a pretty schoolteacher who is new to Springwater, an unexpected love turns up in the most unlikely place.

Rachel English as traveled to Springwater to take a post as the frontier teacher. Although the ramshackle schoolhouse -- and her half-wild pupils -- are not what she had envisioned, Rachel spiritedly makes the best of her new surroundings. But when she takes a stand against the scandalous saloon across the road from the school, she is more that surprised by her own powerful attraction to the bar's part-owner, handsome widower Trey Hargreaves.

The father of a beautiful part-Lakota Sioux girl, Trey appears to be everything that Rachel, with her proper Eastern upbringing, should avoid. When Rachel's fiancé died during the Civil War, she turned her passions to teaching, and closed a door in her heart. Now Trey, with his troubled past, is the the only man who can soothe her hidden sorrow, and give Rachel a chance to embrace the love of a lifetime.

2 out of 5 stars I thought this book was O.K. but nothing special..........2005-03-08

To be honest this book really didn't do much for me. It was a bit boring. Nothing was really going on in the book & the couple didn't even start a relationship until the last 10 pages of the book & then all of a sudden they were wed. Rachel came to Springwater to be the first teacher & upon her arrival she meets Trey & soon finds out that he is part-owner of the Saloon across the street from her school. She despises the Saloon but they soon find that they care for one another. Not much more then that. The book was just lacking something. It needed some adventure or something. I sure hope the rest of this series gets better. This is book #2 in the Springwater series.

3 out of 5 stars Too easy a read with little depth.......2000-09-01

I read the Springwater series and found it a bit shallow. The books are short and very easy to read, though. I find myself wanting more depth and character growth. The relationships were a bit sudden and flaky to me. My favorite characters were probably Jacob and June-Bug. If you want to read an exciting series try Debbie Maccomber's Promise, Texas series.

5 out of 5 stars "Rachel" - A lesson in love........2000-08-12

"Rachel" is another of Linda Lael Miller's great book. The heroine, also named after the book, is a woman who travels to Springwater to teach. Rachel also comes at the request of her friend, Evangeline, whose story began in the book, "Springwater."

The characters in this book are people in the Springwater series. Ms. Miller has brought all the characters magically to life from the pages of the book. The readers can almost smell Miss June Bug's cooking and see her husband, Jacob McCaffrey shuffling his way to the barn. These are just a few of the other characters in the book. I will not mention all of them.

Rachel meets Trey Hargreaves, a widower, who has a young daughter, Emma, to raise. The attraction between Rachel and Trey began on their first meeting, although both do not admit it.

Rachel has her hands full with teaching the children, especially the unruly boys, some whose parents feel they do not need any schooling. However, that is what Rachel came to Springwater to do teach -- and teach she will.

Trey, who is part owner of the town's saloon, is a little shy about "courting" Rachel. Also, Rachel is not too fond of the saloon being in operation. However, when Trey realizes he has competition for Rachel's affection in the form of another widower, Landry Kildare (you will meet him again in Ms. Miller's book, "Miranda"), Trey set to work to win Rachel's love and hand in marriage.

Rachel and Trey eventually overcome everything and let love find its way into their heart and into their lives.

"Rachel" is the #2 book in the Springwater series, but "Rachel" is rated #1.

4 out of 5 stars Nice little vacation for the mind.......2000-03-30

This whole series of books was a nice vacation for the brain. When you're tired of hearing about tragedies and violence and worst possible scenarios, when you've used your brain all day and just need a little quiet time, these are just what the doctor orderred. They are broken down into tiny little books, too, so you can begin and finish them in an afternoon. No high-brow intellectual stimulation, but better than the TV soap-opera drivel. Check them out they're fun!

5 out of 5 stars LOVED IT, kept you wanting more !!!!!!.......1999-06-20

This book puts you right in the middle of this busy little town. You feel as if you are there on the dirt streets. Once again Ms. Miller makes you feel as if you are a part of the story. I read this book and went out and got the next 3 the same day. Springwater is a town I would love to be a part of. Can't wait for the rest of them.

4 out of 5 stars Finally some adventure..........2005-03-16

I've been waiting for a "bad guy" to appear in this series. I said in my last review that we haven't had any trouble with outlaws or anything like that in this series but we finally did in this book.

At the opening of the book you see Landry asking Miranda to marry her. He's offering a marriage of convenience because he needs a mother for his children & she has a new baby out of wedlock. She agrees & this book leaves you watching the love gradually build between them.

I really enjoyed this book. I do have to say though that I didn't like the butchering of the pig talk & what they do with the insides of the head but other then the part I loved the book. This is the 4th book in this series. #1 Springwater #2 Rachel #3 Savannah #4 Miranda.

5 out of 5 stars Loved it!.......2000-06-13

Contrary to popular belief, this was an adorable romance that started off slowly but ended strong. In this story we are introduced to the third woman in this series, Miranda (she was the girl who had the illegitimate baby in "Rachel"). Although i'm not fond of stories which are classified as Marriage of convience, this was an exception. Miranda is proposed to by Landry Kildare who is raising two boys alone without the help of his late wife. You can't help but fall in love with pair, especially when Miranda's boyfriend comes back to claim his child and the big shoot out begins. This is in no way a sensual romance but, it does have one sentimental love scene. This was is a very good book for the kindred soul so pick it up!

I love when Ms. Miller writes a "series" book. Her "Vampire" and "Corbin" series were wonderful. I always waited for the next books. This "Springwater" series is in that same tradition. It has exceptional storytelling, excellent writing, and wonderful characters. The only fault I find with it is in presentation. Why couldn't this be one book instead of four? If she wants the series to continue indefinitly, she could have written it in the style of the popular "Outlander" series by Diana Gabaldon. This will not prevent me from getting hooked and reading all in the series. They are too good to miss!

3 out of 5 stars I love the series, I love her, but I didn't love this book.........1999-04-28

It started out good and I think it had a wonderful chance of being a sweet, sensitive, and heartening story, but it seemed to me as though it were rushed. One minute Landry would never forget his wife and the next he says he loves Miranda. It just didn't seem to me as though the time was taken to give them a whole and complete bond like the other books in the series developed.

4 out of 5 stars A good read..........2005-03-18

I thought this was a good book. I keep wishing for some more action in these books but nothing really big ever happens. But regardless of that it's still a good fast read.

Jessica arrives in Springwater planning to help her brother run the newspaper only to find out upon her arrival that he & his wife are both dead. Left behind are a set of newborn twins that Jessica decides to raise as her own. Shortly after arrival Jessica meets Gage who she thinks was her brothers enemy from the stuff that her brother had mentioned in letters that he had written her. Jessica plans to dislike Gage but she finds it very hard to do & they soon fall in love.

4 out of 5 stars much better than MIRANDA!.......1999-04-08

Even though I wasn't very enthused with MIRANDA, I was ecstatic about JESSICA. Linda came back to her senses and created a character in line with Evangeline, Rachel, and Savannah. Jessica is a very strong and insightful character. The sexual friction between Gage and her is classic romance. I would definitely recommend this book in the series to everyone. I was also happy to be able to visit some of my favorites characters again. I can't wait for the Christmas book. I'll be counting the days until then.

4 out of 5 stars A sweet end to a beautiful series.......1999-03-04

In 1880, Jessica Barnes flees her eastern home to escape the unwanted advances of her boss. She journeys to her brother's home in Springwater, figuring she can assist him with the newspaper he operates as well as spend time with her two nieces. However, when she disembarks from the train, a stunned Jessica finds out that her brother and his spouse are dead. She is the sole guardian of twin girls.

Jessica quickly believes that Springwater's mayor, Gab Calloway, was involved in the untimely death of her brother. She wants nothing to do with the loathsome man even as he finds himself drawn to her. Gab shows her proof that he owns her brother's newspaper. Using her two charges as blackmail, he forces Jessica to marry him so the twins can be fed and clothed. Though he may legally have her, only time will tell whether he can capture her heart like she has captured his.

Anything Linda Lael Miller touches is magic and her latest western romance, SPRINGWATER SEASONS: JESSICA, will augment that deserved reputation. Like the previous tales in this series, Jessica's story is wonderful tale because of the intriguing battles between the lead protagonists and within themselves over not wanting to fall in love. The fast-paced story line never slows down as Ms. Miller provides her fans with her trademark action-packed romance.
