Book Description

Her Cross To Bear

All her life, Olivia Moreland has denied her clairvoyant abilities, working instead to disprove the mediums that flock to London. But when Stephen, Lord St. Leger, requests her help in investigating an alleged psychic, she can't ignore the ominous presence she feels within the walls of his ancient estate. Nor can she ignore the intimate connection she feels with Stephen, as if she has somehow known him before . . .

His Gift To Treasure

The last time he'd lived in Blackhope Hall, Stephen had watched as his elder brother claimed both the family title and the woman he loved. Now, following his brother's death, Stephen reluctantly returns home and finds his family ensconced in scandal. Who is behind his brother's murder -- a dark spirit or the psychic who claims to have channeled it? And what is it about psychic investigator Olivia Moreland that awakens his long-dormant passion?

As they search for answers, Stephen and Olivia discover that the only way to fight a powerful evil is with a powerful love . . .

At a séance Stephen St. Leger tries to prove that it is a fake by capturing a woman he thinks is part of the act, but instead he catches Olivia Moreland, an investigator of Psychic Phenomena. All her life Olivia had been fascinated with the idea that people can communicate with spirits, but had never run into a "psychic" who proved to be the real thing. Her grandmother, one of the first to be called a 'mad Moreland', had the 'second sight' and claimed Olivia did too. Stephen's frustration lies in the fact that his mother is being duped by a medium, Madame Valenskaya. His brother had died the previous year and in order to ease her grief she turned to Madame Valenskaya, a woman who manipulates Lady St. Leger's feelings to extort money from her, pretending she can communicate with the Lady's dead son. Stephen wants to tell his mother that the woman is just making a fool out of her, but he knows it is going to take more to convince her of that so he hires Olivia to help him show his mother that the medium is a fraud. Olivia is determined to keep their relationship strictly on a business level, but will she be able to ignore the attraction she feels for Stephen? After arriving at Blackhope Hall, Olivia starts to have dreams about a woman who lived long ago. Did this woman really exist or is she just a figment of Olivia's imagination? Olivia soon finds out Stephen has dreams about a knight who loved the woman Olivia has been dreaming about. Are these dreams real or are they just another trick of Madame Valenskaya? As darkness and evil loom around Stephen and Olivia, they find themselves falling in love, but will that love be powerful enough to save them?

I found Olivia to be a very believable and likeable heroine. She wasn't an impossibly beautiful woman, her looks bordered on plain and ordinary, but in the eyes of the hero she was beautiful. She was witty and open-minded, loving her family despite the things that other people in society found odd. It was nice to read about a heroine who had a loving and unique family; they only helped add to the story, they never took away from it. She was very confident in her abilities, but in the ways of being a woman, she wasn't sure how to act. I found this very endearing and relatable. Stephen wasn't your typical hero; he wasn't a womanizing, lustful creature. He was compassionate and truly cared about what the heroine thought and felt. His love and loyalty to his mother was touching, even though he didn't believe the medium was the real thing, he let his mother keep her around. He was never cruel to any of the main characters, which I found to be a refreshing change from the norm in historical romances.

Even though there are a lot of romance novels out there, many don't contain true romance, but this novel was an exception. The moments between the hero and heroine were breathtakingly romantic, not simply an exchange of passionate kisses and bold caresses. The reader can feel the deep connection and love between these two characters. Instead of spending all their time kissing, they actually talked to one another, building a foundation for a deep and strong love. I enjoy reading about characters who converse in a story, it helps draw in more emotion from the reader and makes their confession of love more plausible. I'm not usually one for a mystery in a romance novel, but I felt Camp did a great job weaving it into this story. The mystery never overpowered the novel, it simply complemented the romance between Stephen and Olivia. I was pleased with the novel as a whole and I can find no real faults with it. The storyline was fresh and original as were the characters, the secondary characters never overpowered the storyline, and all the events in the novel fit together perfectly. This is definitely going on my 'keeper' shelf.

5 out of 5 stars A Lucky Find.......2004-09-12

In hopes of stealing a couple of hours of uninterrupted reading time, I had ridden along with my husband to a meeting. It was a beautiful late summer evening and I opted to stay in the car. I opened by purse, and guess what? No book- I had left it on my nightstand! Disappointed and frustrated, I found a neighborhood drug store and picked up "Mesmerized".

Normally, I do not enjoy historical romances. However, I'm always drawn to ghost stories with in minutes, I was "Mesmerized". The characters were delightful. The plot was well thought out and quite wonderful. I literally couldn't "put it down". And now that I've finished it, I'm rather sad. It's been far too long since I've enjoyed a book this much! Now all I need to do is find another treasure like this one!

5 out of 5 stars A pleasure to read!.......2004-07-14

I read this book after I slogged through Beyond Compare. This was head and shoulders above that one. I couldn't put this one down. The characters were so much more appealing and the ghost part was especially heartwarming to read. The author really did a great job of keeping the characters likable which I felt she missed in Beyond Compare. I got my copy of Mesmerized at a used bookstore and thought I would skim through it and then re- sell it (I couldn't unload Beyond Compare fast enough!). I was pleasantly surprised to find that it is a great read and will end up on my keeper shelf.

5 out of 5 stars One of the best I've read..........2004-06-23

I really enjoyed reading this story by Candace Camp. I had never read anything by her but I will be sure to pick up other books by this author. This story is so captivating. It has everything to keep you entranced. I read this in one day because I just had to see what was going to happen next. This book is full of suspense and romance. Lost loves, re-encarnation (sp?), ghosts, seances. I particularly liked the way the main characters were drawn together. It's a must read.

5 out of 5 stars sure to be a favorite.......2004-06-21

this was my second Candace Camp read and like the last one it is one of my all time favorite romance books. Olivia and Stephen end up teaming up to unmask a medium Stephen is sure is playing his mother. but while they are both positive that the medium is a fake other events begin happening that they can find no answer to explain except that they are real. in fact another love mystery has been brought to life at Blackhope. not only will you be sure to love the growing love between Olivia and Stephen but there is that other love story that will be sure to catch at your heart too.

i wish Candace would write a book about that love story too. you'll see what i mean when you read it.

As Gayle Lynds's third solo mystery-thriller opens, hotshot D.C. attorney Beth Convey is sewing up the biggest case of her career. It's the case that'll lead to a partnership in the hoity-toity Washington law firm of Edwards and Bonnet and the one that will cement her professional relationship with a soon-to-be enormously wealthy woman. Unfortunately for Beth, it turns out to be the case that kills her.

Shocked back to life, Beth makes do with her faulty ticker until Mikhail Ogust's heart, having no use for his recently deceased body, takes up residence in Convey's chest. And that is where the fun begins. Before you can say "glasnost," Beth is suffering violent nightmares starring murderous Russian individuals, craving vodka, and hungering after snacks more appropriate to the Volga than the Potomac. She's also realized an appreciation and understanding of high-powered weaponry.

Meanwhile Jeff Hammond, a disgraced former FBI agent-cum-star reporter for The Washington Post, is desperately seeking a Russian defector, while agent Eli Kirkhart, Hammond's former partner, is chasing him. In short order, and in differing degrees of partnership, Convey, Hammond, and Kirkhart are knee-deep in duplicitous intrigue both foreign and domestic, bands of well-trained vigilantes bent on governmental overthrow, disguise-wearing spies worthy of Mission Impossible, and, finally, a plot to assassinate a pair of presidents.

Aside from a spate of dialogue (particularly Hammond's and Kirkhart's) that reads like a stubbed toe, Mesmerized barrels right along and carries with it enough successful plot twists to satisfy most anyone's craving for spy vs. spy. Lynds's previous mysteries are Masquerade, Mosaic, and 2000's The Hades Factor, written with Robert Ludlum. --Michael Hudson

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Gayle Lynds surpasses Robert Ludlum.......2007-05-05

Gayle Lynds' Mesmerized has it all: an exciting, believeable story with likeable protagonists and antagonists you dislike and fear, a plot that evolves naturally, and a satisfying conclusion. She is, in my humble opinion, even better than her late mentor, Robert Ludlum, because her plots are not as involved and convoluted, and she adds a human element that Ludlum never offered.

5 out of 5 stars A reader.......2005-08-30

One of the best spy books I have ever read. I enjoyed it more then "The Coil", one of Gayle Lynds's other books. I strongly recommend this book!

3 out of 5 stars Ok, but just too unbelievable.......2005-08-14

I was real into this book during the first 1/3 but then as it becomes more and more unbelievable, I really lost interest. For me the improbably is acceptable, but this book just isn't realistic at all and for me that takes away a lot of the fun. I enjoyed The Coil by Gayle more than this...

4 out of 5 stars Gayle Lynds spins a good spy novel.......2004-10-30

Beth Convey is a hard nosed, high powered Washington D.C. lawyer working on a divorce case for a multi-million dollar client. She is tough, and she is good. In the middle of the very stressful trial, just as she made a play that will win the divorce settlement she is aiming for, Beth Convey suffers a heart attack and collapses in the court room. To save her life, Beth Convey needs a heart transplant. She is fortunate enough to receive one, but this is the beginning of her troubles.

Upon receiving the heart transplant Beth begins to dream. She dreams she is a Russian and she dreams that she has been involved in some criminal activity. More than this, she is starting to crave Russian foods and Russian drinks, but is also starting to remember things that she never knew. She is suddenly familiar with weaponry and discovers a new affinity for martial arts. It is as if Beth Convey is remembering another life. Perhaps she is remembering the life of the original owner of her new heart. She is determined to find out.

Jeffrey Hammond is a former FBI Agent, but is now a reporter for the Washington Post. He is tracking and investigating former KGB spies in America. This may not be on the up and up, however. His former partner, Eli Kirkhart, believes that Hammond may be the mole (or have contact with the mole) in the FBI giving out state secrets. The lives of Convey, Hammond, and Kirkhart will all intertwine in "Mesmerized", the espionage thriller from Gayle Lynds.

Gayle Lynds writes a different kind of spy novel. In a traditionally male dominated field filled with authors and James Bond like male characters, Lynds gives a non-traditional look at the spy novel. To start with, Lynds gives us a strong female protagonist who is just as capable as any of her male counterparts. Having a female lead in a spy novel gives any story a completely different perspective. To top it off, Lynds tells a good story. There may be a cliche or two, but most genre novels have more than a couple. Gayle Lynds is a good story teller and works a fast paced thriller like a master. "Mesmerized" is just as good as her two Liz Sansborough novels, and is a welcome addition to the genre. This is one of her earlier works, so it is a little bit rougher around the edges than "The Coil", but if you are a fan of Robert Ludlum and spy novels, Gayle Lynds is a name to watch,

3 out of 5 stars Too silly to be mesmerizing.......2004-06-12

This is a quick read for a book that's over 500 pages long but I just couldn't get into it. Jeffrey Hammond reminds me of the inept detective from Lupin III and Beth, the main character waffles between being too perfect to being Pauline (as in "The Perils of Pauline"). By the half way point, the book seemed stuck in a rut of having Jeff and Beth meet under bizarre circumstances only to have the bad guys suddenly appear. A better book in this genre is Day After Tomorrow. If I come across a copy I'll register it and release it.

Book Description

Across Victorian Britain, apparently reasonable people twisted into bizarre postures, called out in unknown languages, and placidly bore assaults that should have caused unbearable pain all while they were mesmerized. Alison Winter's fascinating cultural history traces the history of mesmerism in Victorian society. Mesmerized is both a social history of the age and a lively exploration of the contested territory between science and pseudo-science.

"Dazzling. . . . This splendid book . . . gives us a new form of historical understanding and a model for open and imaginative reading."—James R. Kinkaid, Boston Globe

"A landmark in the history of science scholarship."—John Sutherland, The Independent

"It is difficult to imagine the documentary side of the story being better done than by Winter's well-researched and generously illustrated study. . . . She is a lively and keen observer; and her book is a pleasure to read purely for its range of material and wealth of detail. . . . Fruitful and suggestive."—Daniel Karlin, Times Literary Supplement

"An ambitious, sweeping and fascinating historical study. . . . Beautifully written, thoroughly researched, and well-illustrated."—Bernard Lightman, Washington Times

4 out of 5 stars Mesmerization of Victorian Britain.......2000-08-29

Alison Winter has written a thorough , well-researched look at mesmerism in Victorian Britain that is actually a thorough look at Victorian Britain through the concept of mesmerism. It was amazing to see how mesmerism touched on such Victorian concepts as gender relations, the emergence of science and medicine as a profession, and class relations. The chapters on mesmerism and colonial India, and the effect of the idea on mesmerism in changing the image of the homebound invalid were the most fascinating. All the famous characters from this period appear somewhere in this vast study. The metaphor seemed to stretch a little thin when reading and politics were added to the mesmerisic mix near the end of the book, although this was nevertheless very interesting. A good book that makes me interested to read more about this time period in Britain.

4 out of 5 stars Medical hypnosis.......2000-04-19

This excellent book contains many fascinating threads, interwoven skillfully to produce a most satisfying reading experience. It is certainly a good history of altered states of consciousness obtained by interpersonal communication. The Austrian physician Franz Anton Mesmer borrowed the notion of "animal magnetism" (science was infatuated with magnets in those days) and went about effecting cures by touching patients with a glass wand in an abracadabra setting. The phenomenon took his name ("mesmerism") until the Scott James Braid started calling it "hypnotism" based on the Greek name for sleep. As should be expected, Victorian mesmerism/hypnotism bares little resemblance to modern medical hypnosis.

It is also a story of the origins of modern anesthesia: the only known general and dental anesthetics available until the 1840's were alcohol and opium. Anesthetic gases, such as ether and nitrous oxide, had been known since the 1790's, but no one had thought about applying them to block the excruciating agonies that attended surgical interventions in those days. This neglect in blocking pain was due, in part, to the medical profession's ambivalence about the eradication of pain; an ambivalence not entirely lost to this day. For example, when a patient by the name of J. Wombell (age 42) had a leg amputated at the thigh while in a mesmeric trance, he remained quiet and cooperative and had no memory of pain afterwards. He lived another 30 years. The case was given enormous publicity throughout Britain, but doctors were not convinced. Many believed there was collusion between the surgeon and the patient; that Mr. Wombell had been fully awake during the surgery and had been just pretending to have felt no pain.

Finally, it is a history of Victorian medical science and its wobbly foundations. Elliotson, who was responsible for introducing the stethoscope to Britain (for which he was much criticized) took up the practice of mesmerism and eventually had to resign his university post after a series of "experiments" in which it appeared that his patients were faking their altered states of consciousness. The work of Esdaile, a Scottish surgeon working mesmerically with native patients in Calcutta is given a well deserved full chapter.

The book is not forbiddingly esoteric. Its language and concepts are accesible to reasonably well educated readers. Those with interests in psychiatry, or psychology, or sociology, or history, or all things Victorian, will enjoy the work. A mediocre index detracts from perfection; but an excellent bibliography returned this reader's good feelings about the book.

Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars -.......2001-06-29

Although at first I had trouble getting through the beginning of the book it appeared to be a quite interesting and fascinating story. By the way, the part about the coup very much reminded me of August 1990... Simona just go on with your great stories!

3 out of 5 stars Not one of Taylor's Best!!.......2000-11-17

In my opinion, this book was not written to its potential. The storyline was good, but the way the author developed the story was lacking something. I personally disliked the way the author wrote the story with more characters thinking than characters speaking an interacting with one another. But that's just my opinion. Now the part about the religious extremist was well thought out, and they played a large role in the book, but the conclusion of their part in the story was weak! On a good note, I loved the characters. Christian, a man that has seen the error of his ways and wants to really change this time around was great. And Delta was a fireball if I ever saw one, got to love her! Sean and Christian's relationship was very, very steamy, if you know what I mean. They seemed not to know that they were in fact in a relationship until the very end of the story! I wouldn't want to forget the part of the book that dealt with revenge, which in my opinion, I might add, was written very well. Not Taylor's best work, but work nontheless!!

5 out of 5 stars Everything it should be!.......2000-09-14

I couldn't put Mesmerized down. When Christian comes back to Trinidad in the first scene, six years after Sean left him on the night of their engagement, the tension takes off. This book is not only a great romance but I learned something about Trinidad, it's industries and politics. I learned later the religious terrorist thing really happened!

This is the third Simona Taylor book I have read and I loved them all. Each one is different. I like to learn things when I read and this writer always delivers. I learn something about the place, it's history or the people who live there. I always fall in love with the men, they are so wonderful. I am really looking forward to her next book.

4 out of 5 stars EXHILARATING,INTRIGUING,HANGING ON THE EDGE.......2000-06-06

MESMERIZED, the second novel from Simona Taylor, the first being NIGHT HEAT, both novels capture the beauty and intrigue of Trinidad, native home of Ms. Taylor. Although, MESMERIZED provides more than the beauty of the island, it also offers a glimpse of the industries that sustains this beautiful island.

MESMERIZED open with Senior Vice President, Andrea Gooding, introducing the new Operation's Manager, Christian DeVane, to the Public Relations Manager, Sean Scott. The shocked look on Sean's face prompted Andrea Gooding to ask if she was all right, stating politely, that she was fine. Unknown to Ms. Gooding, the relationship Christian and Sean shared six years ago, while finishing college. Christian finishing a Masters and Sean undergraduate work. As the introduction end, hurriedly, Sean enters her office, thinking what is Christian doing at Orion Methanol.

Memories of their parting developed in Sean's head, all the promises they made to each other. When she last saw Christian, six years ago, she had discovered his infidelity, although, she had know of his womanizing ways, but chose not to react, until she found a lease to an apartment, where Christian was paying the rent. That last awful night was supposed to be one celebrating their engagement, and an introduction to his parents, instead disappointment, the same she felt when her father betrayed her, committing the same shameful deed with her friend, leaving Sean withdrawn and never trusting another man.

A knock on Sean's office door, bring her out of the memories, she turn to find Christian standing there, as handsome as ever, but she wanted nothing to do with him. Sean respond, what do you want? Get out of my office! Christian states, Sean has been assigned to get him settled, which meant driving him to the Bank, Hotel, and Airport. Sean explains that she too is a Manager and that's someone else job, finding out later that its her responsibility, reluctantly, Sean agrees to escort Christian.

Somewhere in another part of the country, in the safety of a Religious Compound waiting to strike, the Prophetess, proclaimed religious leader, but better know to the local authories as small time terrorist. This particular day was scheduled for their recognition day, and the place would be the Bank. Unfortunately, as a loud blast occurred, Christian was in its line of fire, so much confusion, the surroundings of the Bank in dismal. Finally aware of the circumstances, Sean start searching for Christian, realizing the blast was really an explosion caused by a bomb. Sean find Christian trapped under the bank counter, head bleeding, the counter laying on top of his body, she panic thinking Christian dead, but soon realizing he would be fine, having a severly broken leg, which meant he would need assistance at home for some weeks, and this being his first day in Trinidad. Hesitantly, Sean agrees to take Christian home with her from the hospital, coming to the conclusion that he has no one else.

As the weeks past, Christian healed nicely, and was eager to start his new position. But things were not that simple, incidents started happening to Christian and Sean. Sean finding the birds she fed in her garden dead, they were poisoned, receiving dead roses, thinking Christian had sent them, because of an misunderstanding they had. Accidents occurring at the plant, Christian not putting much importance to these incidents, but confused about why the were happening.

As the story continues, the Prophetess has taken over the Television station, making demands, the country's in turmoil, state of emergency declared, the country under curfew. Sean receive a telephone call from her friend Delta, stating that there was unrest with bandits, gangs taking over, shes to leave her neighborhood, and come to her place, where theres security. A week past, the Military took control again, capturing the terrorist. Christian and Sean returned to her apartment, after checking the apartment, Christian leaves Sean to check the Plant, thinking how withdrawn she had become, and they would discuss it later that night.

Thinking how humiliating and insecure her life has been, because of her need for love and Father's deceit, Sean decides to pull herself together, because Christian had made every effort to prove how much he loved her, and he was not the man she once knew, realizing how true this was, Sean admit that she still loved Christian. The uneasines she felt in her apartment, adding to her already axiety, prompted Sean to check the apartment again, approaching her bedroom, finding her ex-lover, ex-Manager of Operations, Carolos Fabregas, seeing Carlos, Sean try getting away, but to no avail, accusing Sean for his down fall at Orion, holding Sean captive. MESMERIZED ending continues with equal amounts of excitement, surprises, and intrigue.

Unlike, NIGHT HEAT, adventurous and romantic, MESMERIZED offer excitement, exhilaration, mayhem, mystery and intrigue, with very little romance, nevertheless, it keep you hanging on the edge. I recommend MESMERIZED to all readers, and congratulate Ms. Taylor on a wonderful novel.

3 out of 5 stars A Little Out There.......2000-05-09

I thought that there were some very good parts in this book, but then there were some that made you wonder exactly what the author was thinking. I mean, religious terrorist that never really had anything to do with the rest of the book, please! It was just a little too unbelievable to make the book come to life.

4 out of 5 stars Review of Sir Phillip Ashton's Eyes by Sahara Kelly..........2005-04-22

Lady Abigail Foxworth has so many unwanted suitors that she does not know what to do to let her aunt know that she is not interested in marrying any of them. She wants no one in her life. However, things change after she attends a lecture. Sir Phillip Ashton experiments with mesmerism -- a form of hypnotism. The second Abby looks into Sir Phillip's eyes she felt something special. Sir Phillip is as mesmerized with Abby as she is for him. So he sets out to seduce her. He wants more than just a few nights of pleasure, but a painful past keeps Abby from taking the plunge. What will it take to convince the pretty redhead with green eyes that he wants to spend the rest of his life with her?

Sir Phillip Ashton's Eyes is another sweet, romantic and erotic offering by Sahara Kelly. Having read Madam Charlie, Tales of the Beau Monde and Gypsy Lovers I knew I had to give her other stuff a whirl. This is a great Regency novella. It is a bit unoriginal when it comes to the actual story, but it is beautifully told, entertaining and smoldering nevertheless. Ms. Kelly has a way of making her scenes palpable. And Sir Phillip is as sexy as a proper scientist could be! I loved him! I admit that I did not read the other two stories from the Mesmerized anthology because I had only intended to read the one by Sahara Kelly (and I was only in the mood for a period piece) -- however, I may give the other two stories a whirl another time. In any event, I will edit this review if I read the novellas by Ashleigh Raine and Jaci Burton. In the meantime, I recommend that you give Sahara Kelly's novella a whirl. Give all of her stuff a whirl. She's a wonderful romantica writer.

5 out of 5 stars One of the best anthologies.......2005-04-11

Mesmerized from authors Ashleigh Raine, Sahara Kelly and Jaci Burton is fantastic. Each story is sexy, romantic and has well written story lines. Once you start reading, you won't be able to put it down til the end.

    5 out of 5 stars Terrific book.......2005-03-16

A fantastic anthology with stories by Ashleigh Raine, Jaci Burton and Sarah Kelly. If you love sensual stories with really hot and sexy heroes you have to buy that. You won't be disappointed.

Sir Philip Ashton' Eyes Sahara Kelly
Miss Abigail Foxworth is very politely turning down the fifth suitor for her hand this season. It didn't take much to convince Lord Reginald that she was not good enough for him. Even if his mother had said otherwise. Abigail had just about given up on finding an intelligent man that could cause her to skip a beat. That night for the first time she is captivated by Sir Philip Ashton's blue eyes.

Phillip has spent most of time in the laboratory at his country estate working on science projects. When he first sees Abigail in the front row of his lecture,he decides she is one experiment he wants for himself.

I thought this was a delightful story. Abigail wanted a guy with brains. Philip thought he was happy with his life till he found someone who could love him for himself. A great addition to this anthology.

Magic in the Works Ashleigh Raine

Elaine Ridgley decided that she was not going to get involved with anyone even remotely connected to her work. After her last relationship with a co-worker went bad, he was still causing her trouble with work projects. So when leaving the airport for her hotel she offers to share her taxi with a very gorgeous man. It doesn't take long for her to realize that the stranger is really her new boss.

Mark Ranzetti was attracted to Elaine from the time he first laid eyes on her. He had taken this job thinking that Elaine's project was going to be a failure and he had been called in to save it. But he found everything to be in great shape. During a hypnotism show, they are both hypnotized. Elaine finds that she can't resist Marks charm. While Mark and Elaine share each other's bodies during the night, someone is messing up their project. Can they sell the project before something else happens? Will they attraction last after the conference?

Magic in the Works is a great story about two people with have to work hard to overcome past wrongs to get to a love better than either had ever hoped for. The end ties up everything great with the villain getting his just desserts.

    True Lies Jaci Burton
URick Ric Lor is not happy first he has to go earth and recapture an M-Loran prisoner. Even worse he has to bring a human female with him. He doesn't find human females attractive and he needs to attain his sexual release. He had to miss his appointment with the M-Loran pleasure aides. So when he sees Mia, she is petite with hardly any breasts and hips. Not at all like M-Loran women. They have something to hold onto during sex.

Mia Logan, Police hypnotist was not thrilled that the prisoner had escaped, but to have to go with this M-Loran warrior was just too much. She had to admit that he is gorgeous it a huge sort of way. But everything about him irritates her, so how can she be so attracted to him at the same time. So she decided to try and hypnotize him to get what she wants.

Can Ric be hypnotized? Is he attracted to Mia in spite of her breasts and hips? Can they catch the escaped prisoner?

I love True Lies the best of all the stories. I don't think of have read anything by Jaci Burton before, but I can't want to read anything else she has. The relationship between Mia and Ric worked their way through all their differences. The little things that Ms. Burton added really made this story for me. I won't tell you what they are but you don't want to miss this story.

Mesmerized has something for everyone. Don't pass up the Mesmerizing collection of stories.

        5 out of 5 stars Better than I expected!!!!.......2001-07-25

Not that I didn't expect a lot from Simona Taylor after reading her first one, but this one had great romance and a thrilling adventure. And of course another fabulous guy.

When Christian (the fabulous guy) returns to Trinidad and runs into Sean who left him six years ago on their engagement night, the book takes off. And that's in the first chapter. I don't want to give it all away, but when a political coup puts them in danger I coulnd't put this one down. Kudos! Ms. Taylor. Hurry up and get your next one out.
