Bullet Catcher Series is Great!.......2007-10-01
This series of book is worth the read. Great action and it is well written. Very enjoyable.
Hot, Hot, Hot!.......2007-09-17
I'm a big fan of this series and this book is just another jewel in the Bullet Catchers crown. Ms. St. Claire has a real talent for writing HOT heroes and heroines you can sympathize with.
Now all I need to know is where to hire these Bullet Catchers...*wink*
Can't wait for the next one, First You Run - I'm going to pre-order now!
Intriguing and Suspenseful.......2007-08-28
This is the first Bullet Catcher paperback I've read and it intrigued me from the start. The notion of getting kidnapped for a thrill seemed unnatural to me, so I had to find out more. Then, Sage really gets into the act just to investigate what really happened to her roommate who supposedly committed suicide. As surprising as this was, the book only gets better with lots of suspense, a few steamy sex scenes, and some cooking thrown in for good measure. I don't think I'll ever look at a cannoli the same again. Ha-ha. A great read!
Another winner.......2007-07-07
Roxanne St Claire once again proves she can work within a structure and create something new and different every time. She creates characters and gets you right into their heads. There's no way a reader can confuse any of her Bullet Catchers with another. I can't wait to meet them all.
Roxanne St. Claire Does It Again!!.......2007-07-04
I wanted to read something for a few minutes before bed, but this was the wrong choice!! Once I started TAKE ME TONIGHT, I could not put it down!! I was up until 1 am--4 hours past my usual bedtime, but I couldn't help it. The characters came alive for me from page one. I could totally relate to Sage, who is absolutely tenacious when it comes to getting at the truth. And Johnny--OMG! Who can't love a guy like that? A smart, sensitive hunk--and he cooks! During the suspense scenes (and there are a few), my heart pounded as I frantically read on. A totally good read and one I would recommend to anyone.
While I'm here, I'd like to remark on a comment left by another reviewer about Sage performing the "sexual service" in her effort to get information from Johnny. I can totally understand where she's coming from and under many circumstances, I would agree. But as I read on, that became much less of an issue for me. I could see that Sage's loyalty was so intense that she would do anything to discover the truth about her friend's murder.
Read it. You won't regret it!!!!!

john denvers auto "take me home".......2007-02-23
excellent. loved the book , loved the man. just wish there was more about his childhood. wish someone in his family. His mother or brother, etc. would write a new book, telling more about the wonderful mans life as he grew up.
It was alright.......2006-08-02
I read the book and there was plenty information about his music, he did not go into his personal life much. As a young fan, I would like to have read a little bit more about his personality.
The book is also hard to read, it jumps from place to place and does not stay on the subject. There are a lot of photos, so I enjoyed those. Overall, I think its a great book if you are an older fan, but again i would like to know more about the man himself.

John Denver Was Human, Just Like Everybody Else.......2006-07-04
I bought this book when it came out in '94. It does contain some very candid stories about his personal life. I do not blame John for not writing a "tell-all" book. He did a very difficult thing, which is to let outsiders know about some sensitive private matters. How many of the "dirt-diggers and dishers" would be comfortable with telling strangers about their extra-marital affairs, fits of temper, depression, and drug use? John could have avoided all of that and focused on more up-beat family and professional stories. I think that he left out the meaty details out of respect for himself and those affected by his mistakes.
Unless you are interested in EST and New-Age philosophies, you will be uninterested by his personal beliefs. I think that he could have expounded on where he stands with those beliefs. It leaves you wondering because I have heard him refer to God, Jesus, and angels prior to this book and afterwards.
It is an interesting read for JD fans and curious readers.
Customer Review of John Denver's Autobiography: Take Me Home.......2005-09-23
This is THE BOOK by THE MAN himself ! It is one of the most honest, objective autobiographies I have ever read. I think the author was being too kind and too much of a gentleman about several of the people in his personal life who used him and hurt him and who to this very day continue to make fools of themselves by pretending to be an essential part of the John Denver Story and legacy when they so obviously are not and never have been and John Denver himself states this about these individuals in his book ! In spite of these people not because of them, this creative genius succeeded and gave the world everlasting beauty through his lyrics, music and his love, respect and compassion for humanity and the preservation of nature. This was a very special spirit and a very creative soul whose genius burst forth brightly from his loneliness, pain and suffering and whose star will shine eternally for all of creation. Read this book and listen to his music because no one knows this very special soul better than he himself and no one can express who and what he was all about better than this wonderful man himself ! Why waste time and money reading about what others think when you can get the truth from the man himself through his autobiography and his music !
A troubled man who made beautiful music.......2005-09-12
This book proves that if you're gonna write an autobiography, do it at a high point in your life when you know who you are, when you're enjoying your accomplishments and when you can share the happiness, wisdom and experiences that you brought you there. Some friend should have told Denver not to do this book.
Denver wrote this autobiography in 1994 at age 50 - too close to a recent divorce and not yet moving on happily.
Who would have thunk it? - John Denver writes that he did cocaine, marijuana and LSD. He was repeatedly unfaithful to his wife Annie. His personal life was usually a mess. His second wife Cassandra was a fame and money grubbing opportunist who turned his life into a temporary hell. By his own admission, Denver drank to the point that he lost his driver and pilot licenses over it.
I have always loved John Denver's music and I still do but this book taints it all a bit and makes me sad. Too often Denver succumbed to various vices and failed to really enjoy his many God-given gifts and all that they brought him. He writes that he was constantly trying to find happiness. He turned to sharmans and gurus and such constantly struggling to find answers to his emptiness and problems.
Save your money and your time and avoid this book.
Enjoy Denver's music for all the good that was in the man. His final televised concert - THE WILDLIFE CONCERT taped in 1995 about 2 years before he died in a plane crash - is among his best performances ever. He and the band sounded great - he looked great and he looked happy. It was run on A&E cable and it is available on VHS, DVD and CD. That is how I will choose to remember John Denver. He left us with a treasury of wonderful music.

When Helen Schucman, a professor of medical psychology at Columbia University, began hearing an inner voice of rapid dictation (which she eventually identified as the voice of Jesus), she decided to start taking shorthand notes. Then, with the support and encouragement of a colleague, Schucman continued to assemble the teachings that came to her. The result is A Course in Miracles, a book that has spawned hundreds of study groups and an international following. Although some may find the teachings simplistic ("To heal is to make happy"), many are struck by the predominately compassionate and eloquent passages of this Christian-based interpretation of the Bible ("Whenever you deny a blessing to a brother you will feel deprived, because denial is as total as love"). Indeed, many of the teachings carry weight and certainly merit the acclaim and attention that this book has generated. --Gail Hudson
Customer Reviews:
Those who gave this a low rating don't "get it".......2007-09-03
I've read a few reviews on this book. I used to get upset at hardcore intellecutal types who use a fancy vocabulary just to prove to others how "intelligent" they are. Intelligence is a curse to those who claim to know everything and a gift to those who know they know very little. This book is not the Bible it's not the Koran it's a spiritual book with valuable lessons. Yes it is tedious and complicating. If it was simple it wouldn't be worth the read. The problem is people are either very religious and call it blasphemous or are hardcore science types who need everything proven to them in a sterile laboratory. Life is complex and so are people. This is not the answer to all your problems BUT if you "get it" you'll learn from it. Leave those who hate this book to continue living in fear of change. I don't have all the answers, no one does. Your truth is not my truth. If love and compassion scare you don't read this book. If you get uncomfortable looking in the mirror because you feel lost, don't read this book. God is not a man on a chair with a beard in my opinion. God is everything, life, energy, thought. You control your own life. It saddens me to see that when things go right arroagant people pound their chest with pride but when things go wrong God is "punishing" them. This book is not for the weak of spirit. If you have an open mind, and you have a heart you'll enjoy this book. If your brain is so big that your ego and pride blind you, don't read this book. There are 2 types of intelligent people; those who keep an open mind and UNDERSTAND that they will NEVER have all the answers but try to find peace in life and then there are those who base their identity on their iq scores. You are not you're thoughts, you are not your car, you are not you're phd degree on that wall, you just...are.
on mysticism and schizophrenia.......2007-08-21
The book cannot be discussed per se or as a work of art, rather as awork on the manifestation of escapism and self delusion.
Having endured a tedious battle of copyright beween competing groups of quasi religious conviction it is now exploited under the notion that it is distributed for no profit at all, this being the first delusion of many more to follow.
It has been written by Helen Schucman, teaching medical psychology at the Columbian Presbeteryan Center in the sixties of the last century with the claim that it was dictated by a voice she heared inside her head. Later she identified this voice as Jesus Christ. This Jesus gave her dictations on a daily basis which she put down on note pads. Schucman red these notes to her collegue Dr. William Thetford who edited and typed the text.
At first Schucman was reluctant to publish her work, for reasons the reader must imagine himself.
In the early seventies Schucman and Thetford passed the text, among others, on to Benedikt Groeschel, an ex-priest who at that time converted a certain Kenneth Wapnik from Judaism to Catholizism. Wapnik at that time wrote a work on mysticism and schizophrenia, concluding that mystics could never be schizophrenics. Groeschel gave Wapnik the text and Wapnik became a key figure of the cult. His income consists of revenues from books, tapes, workshops and donations, all based on Schucmans work.
Critical thinking about the claimed origin of this work is not encouraged by followers of the believe.
The same goes for questioning of its content.
Within the group of dedicated followers it is blasphemy to ask whether this could be a case of creative schizophrenia.
It feels like the basic and common truths contained in the volumes need a special endorsement in order to be considered valid. "If you cannot believe that it is the actual voice of Jesus you are refusing to wake up" this is the answer I recieved at one of the cult's workshops, surrounded by followers trembling from the kind of self induced ecstasy you will see at spiritual gatherings wordwide, regardless of the religious confession.
It is certainly no coincidence that most editions have a look and appearence that can easily be confused with US editions of Christian Bibles. The sectarian movement has the same stark opposition to critical views as orthodox Catholocism had in the past. It is in fact this point where ACIM and Catholicism are at its closest.
If you dare to question the loosely organized structure of thought, the answers of the group are as follows: You are only questioning the content of the book because you are "living in a dream" or "living in an illusion" and once again "refuse to wake up".
Aim of the system is to remove you from that dream, to awaken you into a reality which is supposed to exist only inside you - solipsism is the word that comes to my mind.
The philosophy of the work, basically purging scattered thoughts of early Christianity with an eclectic mix of hindu and other early religious views poular in the 60ies (think of the Beatles and their Indian Gurus!), is based on the idea of omitting personal suffering by omitting the ego that causes the suffering and carries it on indefinitely as long as you do not apply a process of "waking up from an illusion". It is of course similar to the Asian concept of Maya, the veil that covers the truth. This is one of many cultural cross references that are never made, the book makes it sound as if it carries original ideas, original ideas endorsed by a second coming of Jesus Christ to be exact.
The volume can easily be summoned up in one sentence: "Don't take yourself so serious."
This idea is as old as mankind, served in all mayor religions alike and not a bad idea.
The manual however is very serious, the gurus in the workshops even more so as soon as you stop petting their ego start to ask real questions.
I talked to the people. Most clients of the cult suffer from overindulgence or from the neclect of emotionally inacessible parents. It offers them to find solace by dwelling in their inner realms and by eliminating any resource of outward or political responsibility.
The philosophy of the book claims that you are the master of your fate just by waking up from the illusions in your life. While this is certainly true in cases of spiritual neglect retalted to things like "The American Way of Life" it offers hardly solutions to problems such as: "What can be done against the political and moral crimes induced by power?"
The answer of the book is "prey and wait for miracles" It is probably oder than Christianity.
This is, after all, one of these self help books for the gullible who are, more than anything else, in need for hugs, affection. Hence the workshops that offers all and a possibility to meet dates that are in need for love.
You can save yourself the rather tedious read and instead DO something good to yourself and the world around you. Hug anyone who's dear to you, send flowers to the people you care about, confess your love to those you didn't dare to, have an orgy of the kind that suits you, or just be yourself and smile when you want to frown.
1) The combattants of the copyright trial were the Foundation of A Course in Miracles (FACIM) and the Foundation for Inner Peace (FIP, before Foundation for Parasensory Investigation) against the New Christian Church of Full Endeavour Ltd (NCCFE).
FIP sold the rights in 1995 to Penguin books for 2,5 Million Dollars for 5 years of exploitation. In a verdict in 2003 the copyrights for FACIM were dismissed as the defendor NCCFE was able to proof that the book had been published earlier and that proper copyright had not been estabished by FACIM and FIC.

Substantial book.......2007-08-16
I've heard about the Course in Miracles for years. I ordered this book and have found it to be incredible. It contains all three parts in one book. If you have any interest at all, I recommend that you buy it. Even if you only read it occasionally or if you study daily - it is truly an inspiration.
A Course In Miracles.......2007-08-13
If you are open minded, really, and want to awaken to your true reality, this Course is truly helpful.
From a 5 year student and counting.......2007-07-30
The Course, as it describes, is a requirement for all those who chose to come here, then yearn to return to that ever nagging place we came from. But because our ego's are so huge, covering our spirit like the stone that was rolled away from the tomb, exposing the Spirit of Christ.
The course is a way of uncovering all that we used to cover up our true Self. Every year, the course seems to change in front of your eyes.
Anyone who has ever read it and not continued with it, is purely not ready for the Course. It is indescribable. It is life changing and brings on such great peace or at least the means of peace and contentment.
The Course in Miracles (ACIM)comes to those who ask "There must be a better way?" It certainly did for myself and everyone I ask.
Uniquely written by internal dictation thru a scribe. The words are OBVIOUSLY not from earth.
I am an avid reader and never read such incredible dialog. Rich, descriptive, intuitive and point blank, gets down to the real nature of our existance and our quest.

I looked forward to reading this book ... a different type of heroine gets the hunk. I was extremely disappointed with Travis' brother and Lily's sister; those two characters all but ruined the story for me. I would have like to see the relationship between Lily and Travis develop without lies and games; see Lily get the guy based upon her attributes and abilities. Did it really take three to "punish" one? That is what all three appeared to want to accomplish. I especially found Travis' brother's behavior appalling. His part in "the plan" calls to question his judgment as a doctor and makes a statement as to the type of family he is. Who needs enemies with such a sibling? Lily's sister was no better; it was startling that she could see nothing questionable with her treatment of her sister. By the last few chapters all my sympathy was with Travis and felt the "trifling trio" (or at least the "disgraceful duo") should go to the devil's home in a hand-basket. I suppose I expected too much; I wanted "Lily" to get the guy, not a scheming shrew. However, if I remove or separate the atrocious brother, the horrific sister, their less than honest and vengeful influence, as well as "the plan" from the equation, the story of Travis and Lily was enjoyable.
Hot & Steamy, but Plot Not Fully Developed.......2007-02-19
This book had alot of promise- unlikely "man-eater" gets the hunk in an ultra-romantic Tuscany setting. But right from the get-go, I thought the author rushed into the courtship between Lilly & Trevor. Trevor went from belittling Lilly before the fashion show to dragging her back to his pad, then Italy, and subsequently marrying her in a span of less than one week. Talk about whirlwind romance!
Overall, I enjoyed the book- it was spicey, hot, and romantic. But I feel it would have been a better read had the author developed more the romance between the main characters.
Nice but not steamy enough.......2007-02-08
I loved the idea of a big girl getting "the guy" but i was disappointed that it wasn't as hot as i had hoped. The love scenes are lackluster and some of the dialogue is unbeleivable.
Romatica with a really hot guy and Tuscany, what more can you ask for ..........2006-10-12
I loved this novel, I read it in one night. I love the smart heroine and the sexy hero. I loved that the story takes place in two of my favorite places California and Italy. This is definitely going to be on my keeper shelf.

Book Description
They've Got Nothing In Common.... For animal behaviorist Emma Jenkins, romance has been at the bottom of her daily "to do" list since making it through a messy divorce. But everything changes the day six-feet-of-gorgeous Thomas Tobin walks into her office with a quivering Chinese Crested named Hairy, a canine that looks more like an underfed rodent than a dog. Sure Thomas is sending her mixed signals-but that charming smile just sent Emma's dormant sex drive through the roof.... But Animal AttractionThomas isn't looking for a fling. In fact, he wants nothing to do with women. He just wants to know if Hairy witnessed his owner's murder. But something tells him that asking Emma to help him with the case will spell nothing but trouble-trouble in the form of serious temptation. And the Willingness To Take A Chance On LoveThomas knows that relying on Emma's expertise-and her soft touch with a weird dog that has somehow become his-may be a crazy way to track a killer. Especially when Emma's down-home warmth makes him want to believe that anything is possible-even true love.

Loved it..........2007-06-24
This is my favorite Susan Donovan. Emma and Thomas are well written and endearing characters. Parts of the story are told through the eyes of a hairless toy chinese crested, so funny. There is just enough action to up your heart rate.
creative.......2007-03-07
i really liked this one. the romance has some creative, different scenes. i liked the lead characters a lot. the dog is funny, but too much of a character for me.
Not for the faint of heart -.......2007-01-28
It certainly took Thomas and Emma an awful long time to get to the first sex scene in this book - Chapter 15 out of 20. The problem is they had to find flame-retardant paper on which their romp could be printed without invoking spontaneous combustion! Mercy!
It was absolutely worth the wait.
Who knew there was a costumed disco-dance competition for little dogs? (If there isn't, please don't tell me, I don't want to know.) I did know there were pet behavior therapists, however, so I'm not too far behind the rest of the world.
This is a wonderfully bawdy, funny, touching story with plenty of sizzle and spice, about people who could very easily be real, thanks to the author's wonderful perceptiveness and sense of humor. I loved it, and am delighted to have discovered this author's very first book, even if that only happened a couple of weeks ago. I'll have such fun catching up. So will you.
If you NEEd to laugh, read this book!.......2006-06-11
This book has everything a great contemporary romance should have: drama, suspense, intense emotions, well-written love scenes, complicated family dynamics, a great dog and roll on the floor laughing humor. I can't believe anyone could get through the first chapter without laughing out loud many, many times.
cute, funny and worth reading.......2006-05-07
No unexpected plot twists here. This is just a cute and funny story with well developed, very likeable characters. The sex scenes were hot and well written. This is my first Susan Donovan book and I plan to read the otheres right away. Definitely worth reading!

Up, Up and Away.......2007-10-08
Craig Fenton's "Take Me To The Circus Tent" is a lovingly compiled compendium of legendary rock supergroup "Jeferson Airplane". The book is so thoroughly documented that you'd swear that Mr. Fenton was present at the creation and never missed a performance. Facts and photos galore. "Circus Tent" shares many similarities with "Deadbase", the performance history of the Grateful Dead, and will no doubt prove just as invaluable.
The Airplane Encyclopedia .......2007-08-03
Fantastic book: full of tape information, photos, setlists, great interviews. A must for JA fans.
Does for the Airplane what Deadbase did for the Dead. Great book.
Fly Jefferson Airplane with Craig.......2007-07-19
For a fan of the legendary Jefferson Airplane, this book held open the promise of a long overdue look at one of the very greatest rock bands.
I had high hopes and expectations when I purchased this book, but Craig Fenton surpassed even my loftiest hopes.
The Airplane were the leading rock band in the USA from Monterey Pop in '67 through Woodstock and Altamont in '69. For reasons that escape me, history has let them slip away, not realizing that they were the lead act on the second day of Woodstock. Now revered bands such as The Who were mere opening acts on Airplane tours, but the vast majority of America has forgotten them.
Craig Fenton has managed to create a masterpiece that can reopen America's eyes and ears to the Airplane. I have read many books on various rock bands, but I have never found one as well researched and filled with more treasure tid bits. It is hard to fathom how Craig managed to speak with all of the major players, and even more amazing how he included so many 'minor' players. Casual music fans know that JA split into Hot Tuna and Jefferson Starship. Die hard JA fans know Signe Anderson was the female singer on the first JA albums. However, anyone who picks up this book will know everyone and everything that happened in the JA/HT/JS world.
This book is so captivating that I keep picking it up night after night. Craig Fenton has written with such conviction and passion that I now expect him to be able to convince Grace, Paul, Marty, Jorma, and Jack to "Get Together" one more time.
Jefferson Airplane soars and roars in the pages of this wonderful book.......2007-07-14
Jefferson Airplane was one of the premiere San Francisco,California rock music bands who came to prominence during the mid to late 1960's and who have cemented their reputations as a 1st rate live act through thousands of performances given over a 42-year period [albeit with various line-ups taking to the stage].
Craig Fenton's new book "Take Me To A Circus Tent" chronicles this stellar musical group's odyssey by focusing primarily on their highly underrated concert sets. Here we have a collector's dream package: every show from 1965 through the present day is meticulously documented [what was played, how one version of a particular song varied from venue to venue in a given tour, who played what instrument, etc].
There are also the interviews one would expect--but not all the same, trite question/answers we have read many, many times over. This book's author dared ask "if [drummer] Spencer Dryden was proficient enough in the 1960's to be a Jefferson Airplane drummer, whjat made him deficient in the 1970's?" The answer is thoughtful and real.
Another point on the interviews: many of the Jefferson Airplane's supporting musicians were interviewed for this book and their thoughts and recollections add a dimension that is worth the price of admission.
The most gratifying part of discovering this book is when I am speaking with other music fans who 'like' Jefferson Airplane [I LOVE the band], yet were/are totally absorbed by the scope and breadth of the material contained in this HUGE work [over 540 pages].

A Circus Tent Like No Other.......2007-06-25
The greatest compliment I can give an author is where the book ends up upon its conclusion. If it is filed away the second the last words have been comprehended, it hadn't made a significant enough impression.
Mr. Fenton's Jefferson Airplane book "Take Me To A Circus Tent" isn't ever going to far from my arms reach. I was pleasantly surprised with the tremendous effort he put forward. The first inclination to the books brilliance was a photo before the meat and potatoes. My eyes were fixated on a picture of the pre-Grace and Spencer period of the band. Seeing both Skip Spence and Signe Anderson represented together was an obvious clue Mr. Fenton would give us the history lesson from the roots to the last time on stage.
As the story is being told the interspersing of over ninety photos may very well be unparalleled. The sheer amount will engage any fan in wanting a copy of the book. It isn't only the quantity but the percentage that have not been previously available. Herb Greene who provided the cover to the Airplane's second album "Surrealistic Pillow" provides his magical photography on a great many of the shots. These include not only the Airplane but some outstanding pictures from Grace Slick with the Great Society.
It is one thing for a fan to be passionate about Mr. Fenton's book but is evident the respect it commanded from those that were there for the ride. Marty Balin has a quote on the back cover "Craig Fenton knows so much about the Jefferson Airplane and Family, I was asking him the questions." The original bass-player Bob Harvey supplied Mr. Fenton with a rare photo of his bluegrass group way back when (Slippery Rock String Band) he took of Marty and a picture of Marty he took at the Airplane Mansion.
Besides a look at 120 live performances and roughly 60 studio songs that were alternate versions, rehearsals, or demos, Mr. Fenton's main course may be the interview section. There are over thirty transcribed interviews from the Airplane and family. Here is where Mr. Fenton's passion for the band is evident. No matter how knowledgeable you are about the Airplane if you keep track of every piece of information that surfaces during the conversations his knowledge will astonish you.
"Take Me To A Circus Tent" is a tribute to one of the finest bands to ever record and hit the stage. Mr. Fenton makes you feel as if you were there all along.
A most excellent book!

beautifully illustrated.......2007-10-11
I am from West Virginia so Country Roads has always been dear to my heart, especially being a WVU grad where it is blasting all over town on football Saturdays! I bought this for my nephew and I'm sure he will love all of the illustrations as much as I do. Lots to look at on each page and I love how the illustrations are done as if it has been quilted.
Great for all ages..........2007-08-15
My son received this book as a gift for his first birthday. He loves it (and he has no clue who John Denver is)! We've read/sang it a hundred + times. He loves looking at the illustrations, as do I. My husband & I graduated from WVU, so this song is near & dear to our hearts. We hope to make a little Mountaineer out of our son too....this is a good start.
Another great John Denver/Christopher Canyon work!.......2007-06-26
A great song with amazing illustrations. All the pictures look like quilt pieces. This song is timeless and kids love it. I've got kindergarteners who can belt this out and they never get tired of reading/singing it over and over. Very well done. Can't wait for more John Denver songs to come out.
AWESOME!.......2007-05-25
John Denver's music paints a beautiful picture in your mind, but this book brings it to life even more! Book is very animated---almost seems like the pictures move as the vehicles go up and down the rolling hill. Great quilted-look art that covers almost every space in this book. LOTS of things going on (you could look at this book all day long and still find something new the next day) Well worth the money!!! Get is for all your John Denver fans :)
It took me home.......2006-11-03
I thought the book was adorable and will preserve John Denver's song for future generations. I have introduced his music to my young nieces and nephews. They know who he is now just by the sound of his music. Thanks for the latest addition to my library and the John Denver childrens collection.

A VERY unentertaining story.......2007-07-22
After reading some of the reviews for the book, I unfortunately purchased it. The story seems like it would be interesting, but it begins slowly, drags in the middle, and ends quietly.
4.5 Stars.......2007-05-21
I loved the first 2/3 of this book, then it seemed to stall out. The villain was obvious and the conflict between the hero and heroine could have been more pronounced. However, the passion remained intense throughout the book between Cali and Jared and had a very satisfying ending.
TAKE ME(BERKLEY SENSATION).......2007-05-16
Lucy Monroe really knows what a women wants to hear. Great writer. Look forward to more of her books. You must read Take Me and all her others. You will not be able to put it down.
Read in a evening!.......2007-02-11
'Take Me' by Lucy Monroe sweet love story with dash of mystery. Jared, Viscount Ravenswood housekeeper Mary and friend dies and he promises to take Mary's daughter to her daughter's fathers wife. Jared knows that pregnancy was result of rape and assumes the wife must be evil not to protect Mary from her abusive husband. Jared meets Cali the Duchess and finds that she is not the monster that he had beleived. Lots of twists and turns - over all a nice read.
Great Book.......2006-12-17
I was instantly pulled into the lives of the Viscount and his surprise ward. Lucy weaves a fascinating story here. Very emotional and rewarding.

not as useful as I hoped.......2007-06-26
I was expecting more. I was hoping for more places to stay overnight with a large dog. I have a golden retriever and wanted to include him in more of our activities, but this listed stuff that was out of our way or less quality than places I already know. Some new places to try, but I wouldn't recommend anyone to buy this book. It is a nice idea, but nothing new.
Some real problems with this vlume.......2007-01-19
Reading these positive reviews I almost hesitated to post a rather negative review; however, I feel it important to point out some problems with this particular volume.
My work keeps me on the road for much of the year and my dog often accompanies me on these trips. Locating dog friendly properties is sometimes a challenge so I was pleased when a friend gave me this book as a gift. Unfortunately, I found the book rife with errors, misinformation and glaring omissions. As the authors correctly point out, it is vital to verify the rules for an individual property prior to leaving home in order to avoid disappointment and inconvenience. Properties change hands; situations alter and rules change without warning. While reading through the book I kept returning to verify the publication date since so many entries were very out of date. This particular issue was published in 2004. In a number of places throughout the book recommendations for lodging and food include properties that closed as much as seven or eight years prior to the publication date. In New England there are several Inns that cater to dog owners offering special programs and amenities for dog owners and their pets. The properties that I am aware of have all been in operation for at least eight to ten years. Yet no mention is made of them. Odd.
I think the bottom line of this book and on any similar books is that the dog owner who chooses to travel with his/her pet, must do their own research prior to hitting the road and must verify all information listed on any web site or in any book. Perhaps it is simply impossible to write a book such as this and hope that any of the information will remain current upon publication.
A MUST for any dog owner in New England!.......2003-01-07
As a resident of Connecticut, I found it a daunting task to find places where my dog was accepted. This book took all the guess work out of who allows them and makes life a LOT easier! I was also surprised to find a few eateries in my own town which allow patio eating with my furry friend, which is a welcome surprise. Definitely, any dog owner who lives in New England or is planning on a visit here needs this book. It is much more extensive than most other dog travel guides, including a ranking system and descriptions of all places included, as well as some cute anecdotes of the authors' own experiences with their pooches at these places.
you will never want to leave them home again!.......2002-08-06
Like most people we love new england and especially the berkshires (lenox, stockbridge, ect)or a gettaway up to maine. I was always jealous of people that I meet with their dogs, and always yearn to go on vacation with our pets instead of worrying how they are doing at home with a petsitter or in a kennel somewhere. now, thanks to this book I never realized how many hotels and b&b's allowed pets! this book makes travels with your fido so much easier and they wont just be sitting in the hotel room bored, either. There are so many places for them to go to that are mentioned in this guide book, they can enjoy themselves as well. (after all, they are on vacation too, right)?
My dogs and I thank would like to thank the authors of this book from the bottom of our hearts! thank you, thank you!!cant wait to buy your new edition about New York!
Great Resource.......2002-07-30
I found this book exceptionally helpful for planning our vacation with our dogs. The places listed are great for taking your dog, and the book contains a variety of subjects: places to stay, places to eat, places to go have fun (hiking, beaches, etc.), and also lists events that are happening in the area. The only problem I had was that some prices have changed, and that there was some inside information omitted; for example, the beaches in Gloucester are leash free after the life-guards have left, even though the signs at the beach say "no dogs allowed." We missed out on some serious beach time because we didn't know that tidbit until the end of our visit. Just make sure you follow up (they include phone numbers for every spot listed) if you're counting on price or hours or something.

"Ewald's project is wonderful because it lets kids speak for themselves; instead of being passive subjects for the lens, they eagerly harness it to the engines of their imaginations." -Andy Grundberg, The New York Times Written for parents and teachers, I Wanna Take Me a Picture is filled with anecdotes about Ewald's work that makes it an accessible and practical guide to getting children involved in photography. Striking photographs of children's work show the benefits of her program. "Young people know joy, sorrow, and loss. By looking at their photographs and talking about making them, they begin to realize their lives have importance. This book is needed!" -Deborah Willis, author of Reflections in Black "A treasure of photos taken by the author and her pupils, plus stirring testimonies from children around the globe who faced tragedy through the lens of a camera." -City Limits Wendy Ewald, who lives with her husband and son in Red Hook, New York, is currently a fellow at the Center for Documentary Studies in Durham, North Carolina. Fabulous!.......2007-01-04
I absolutely love this book! I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. The story is captivating, and I find myself lost in the text.
But I did not purchase this book for leisure reading. I was searching for a book that is an instructional guide to photographic projects for children. This book is not written in the step-by-step format I was looking for. I wanted fully layed out lesson plans, etc. But I was not dissappointed. All of the information I needed on conducting photo projects with kids is in this book. It is just more of a story format. A VERY enjoyable story!
Reading Pictures .......2005-02-19
This book is an outstanding guide for the art teacher eager to teach not only creative photography, but how to connect, understand, and tell a story through a picture. This book teaches expression through exercises with video and poetry, how to read a photograph, to have children from different cultures learn from each other from self portrait exercises in the shoes of different ethnicities.
Although I found this to be extremely interesting, this book isn't what I had expected. I am not a teacher, but I have a child interested in photography and since I am not a photographer myself I was looking for a guide for us both to learn and enjoy together. This book, although enjoyable, shows examples for different assignments for more of a class room setting, not a parent and child learning together . Also this is a book with only a couple pages of actual images and more text. I do feel this book is a blessing for teachers who may be looking for a creative and meaningful experience for their students to express themselves through art.
Great resource for teachers!.......2002-09-04
This book guides you through teaching literacy through photography to children, for which Ms. Ewald is well known. It is a fantastic resource for someone who wants to really teach the heart and soul of photography, as well as visual literacy - a great introduction to photography but even a seasoned photographer can learn something new from this book. Ms. Ewald takes you through her curriculum step by step as she would teach her students and gives you the tools and tips to pass it on. This is not a technical "how to" photo book, there are plenty of those out there, this book is truly a gem. I have used Ms. Ewald's book as the basis for my own workshops with children and I now have adults asking me to take the course! I can't say enough great things about it...
