Dinah McCall's heart wrenching, and poignant romance tells hero Morgan Tallchief's story. At 17, he watches the love of his life burn to death in a fire. Incapable of loving again, Morgan builds a solitary life for himself--until Kathleen walks into his home 17 years after her supposed death, bringing their love child, whom she has raised in secret. Morgan must assist Kathleen in healing her wounds, their daughter's, and his own before they can, together, fight the person who has pursued Kathleen's family for the past 20 years and forced her to hide in the federal witness protection program.
Book Description
A powerful classic repackaged love story featuring a Native American hero, touches of mysticism and suspense, and heartrending romance.
Morgan Tallchief lives for the art he creates, but even that is haunted by the loss of the only woman he will ever love. When Kathleen Ryder mysteriously re–enters his life, the achingly sweet hunger that bound them together in the past returns as well.
Customer Reviews:
I Loved This Book!.......2006-06-23
I won't go over the plot as others already have.
Morgan was a wonderful hero, in the true sense of the word. He was strong, brave and quick to defend his family. He was also sensitive and didn't hesitate to show his love.
Kathleen has been through enormous upheavals in her life yet managed to raise an incredible child.
The only thing that rang untrue is that it was always the FBI that moved them, the FBI who made all the decisions, the FBI agent who handled everything. The U.S. Marshall Services handles the Witness Protection Program and they were never mentioned.
This book is definitely a keeper!
Excellent Read!.......2005-01-06
This was a book I purchased on a whim...and I loved it. Something about the book just touched me and I couldn't put it down. The love relationship, the emotions, the plot...it's all great. A must read!!
most awesome.......2004-11-25
this was an excellent book. I've read it several times more and this hooked me onto her as an author. Readers should be aware though that this is a reprint not a new story, but definitely worth the price and time.
Worth it for most folks.......2004-09-27
I won't rehash the plot here--that's been done plenty in previous reviews. This book contains some pretty rough language and a few scenes of quite graphic violence. It actually tops McCall's book Legend for violence. BUT--if Legend left you with the frustrating feeling that it was a little shallow or lacking in detail, Tallchief won't fail you that way.
Tallchief's strength, basically, is that it, like Jackson Rule, tells a story that we all hope deep down in our hearts is true. We all want to believe that when life backs us into a corner, like it has Kathleen, there will be one place we can go where we will be protected, forgiven, and most of all wanted. Kathleen finds that place.
McCall's sensitive portrayal of Morgan's newfound relationship with his daughter Trish is another mark in this book's favor. One other side note: this book is bound to appeal to anybody who likes Linda Howard's MacKenzie saga (yes, Morgan is that kind of hero) and will be a special treat to those somewhat disappointed by the hero's arrogance and dishonesty in A Game of Chance.
Romance as it should Be.......2003-06-20
Tallchief is what a romance should be. Romantic, sexy, and well written. This is the kind of book that leaves us all wishing for our very own Tallchief.

She was George Ballanchine's muse for 20 years and his wife for 6; together they made the New York City Ballet an essential part of American culture with his choreography and her dazzling, technically bravura dancing in "Firebird," "Swan Lake," and other modern classics. Maria Tallchief's dignified autobiography describes their groundbreaking artistic collaboration with satisfying thoroughness. She is reserved about their personal relationship but candid about the increasing favor Ballanchine showed to younger dancers, which led to her departure from the company in 1966. Her story captures a key moment in ballet history.
Book Description
A fascinating self-portrait of the fairy-tale life of a woman who understood that a committed talent could transform the world around her."Maria Tallchief and American ballet came of age in the same moment...... Her story will always be the story of ballet conquering America. It was and is an American romance."-Arlene Croce, The New Yorker

A very interesting account of a dancer's life.......2000-06-23
I had not taken ballet lessons for several years when I picked up this book, but just by reading it, I was inspired to sit up straight, pull my shoulder blades together, and even (occasionally) point my toes. The book is especially intriguing because it integrates Ms. Tallchief's private and professional lives so closely, and because it contains many pages of beautiful photos. I cannot say, however, that this book is impossible to put down; I read a bit of it every few months.
Divine.......2000-06-04

My 6th grade reading group read this story (excerpt) from the book and we throughly enjoyed the segment. We used the internet to find more information about Maria Tallchief. They found the story helpful especially the two girls who find studying ballet in Wyoming is a less recognized pursuit than elk hunting and snowmobiling. Maria Tallchief's story is timeless and inspiring even 35 years away from her peak fame years. Our group enjoyed reading about a Native American who has made an impact on the arts world. Thanks. Mrs. Clark's 6th grade reading group, Afton Wyoming.

Book Description
Growing up on the Osage Indian reservation, Maria Tallchief was a gifted pianist and dancer. According to Osage tradition, women are not permitted to dance, but Maria's parents recognized her gifts and allowed her to break the rule. Then when Maria reached the age of twelve, her father told her it was time to choose between her two loves. Maria chose ballet. It was a decision that would change not only the course of her life, but the face of classical ballet in America. The fascinating story of Maria Tallchief's rise to become America's prima ballerina will captivate young readers.
"Tallchief's single-minded passion, conveyed in a clear, poetic narrative, will hold appeal and meaning for an audience beyond that of hopeful ballerinas." (The Horn Book)

Tallchief Americas Prima Ballerina .......2007-02-21
The story Tallchief Americas Prima Ballerina is by Maria Tallchief and Rosemary Well. This story is a very heart touching story about a girl following her dreams. The book shows you how hard work and dedication gets you far in life.
The detailed pictures go great with the descriptive words. They really elaborate what's going on in the story. This realistic story shows the reality of decisions making in life. In this story, She had to make the decision on where she was going in life.
This book also shows the main characters culture and background. Maria Tallchief is half Osage and half Scots-Irish.
I think that Tallchief America's Prima Ballerina is a good book because it shows the ambition of a ballerina and what it takes to be one. It also shows reality of a life determining decision, and also teaches about chasing and achieving your dreams.

Tallchief, America's Prima Ballerina.......2000-05-22
Tallchief, America's Prima Ballerina, written by Maria Tallchief with Rosemary Wells, is a lovely, lyrical account of a young girl's fierce desire to express the music she felt within her through ballet."I was born with music that flowed through my body as naturally as blood in my veins." Both a talented pianist and dancer, Maria was encouraged by her father to choose one "star". "In the way that very young people choose, from the heart, I chose (ballet) and I chose right". Any young reader would choose right in selecting this inspiring account of a unique American star.

The Best.......2005-06-26
I have loved every one of C. London's books so far.
I have even went so far as to start from the begining, every book that she has ever written. i love her stories, the tallchiefs are my favorite. This Book was wonderful to read.
Disappointing........2001-09-04
Although I liked Elspeth very much I found Alex to be pretty much a selfish creep. In fact I really didn't care that much for any of the male characters. Also Alex switches for a revenge seeking creep to an obsessed lover seeking to rekindle the flame he shared with Elspeth in Scotland in little less than a paragraph. I may read other Tallchief stories if I come across them, but they aren't high on my must read list. Disappointing.
I loved this book........2000-01-24
I don't think Cait London could have done a better job. If Elspeth was to have a past than who better to have it with than Alex. It was romantic. I absolutely loved it.
Not what I expected.......1997-02-15
I usually love reading books written by Cait London, but I was not so impressed with her latest novel " Tallchiefs for Keeps." Although a nice story, its introduction over the past few months had me expecting something more. I had more fun with Elspeth's brother Callum
Customer Reviews:
I really enjoyed this story..........2001-05-14
I had never read any of Cait London's books before and nearly didn't buy this book as I usually stick with authors i know. I am so glad i decided to!!! Cait London's characters are great! The sizzle and electricity which passes between each of these characters makes for a great read - I finished all three books in one rainy weekend!! I like the idea of a continuing story which makes these 3 stories seem like one long one. The Tallchiefs are 5 siblings of mixed Indian/Scottish descent... Their parents died when they were teenagers and to keep them together and strong they pledge to find a part of their great great grandmother's dowry. Each sibling searches for one part of the dowry and each has a legend attatched to it.. The first story "The Cowboy and the Cradle" tells eldest brother "Duncan the Defender"'s story The second "Tallchief's Bride" is second brother Callum the Cool"'s tale. While the last tells the story of their sister "Elspeth the Elegant"

Customer Reviews:
a must-read for Cait London's fans.......2006-10-25
If you, like me, share a deep passion for endearing and slightly quirky characters then this is the romance for you. I have devoured all of Cait London's Tallchief series for just those reasons, I must admit to getting a kick out of this family's eccentricities. "The Seduction of Fiona Tallchief" must be one of my favourites yet and that's no mean feat when the series was so brilliant from the get go.
great series romance.......2005-01-13
I tend to read more of the thicker romances because the series, like Harlequins, tend to be more "fluff", and less involved in any story line. Not true for this book. The story is very enjoyable to read. Two unusual, independant characters who realize that in life, we all need family. What starts as sexual attraction becomes a deeper need to be together and to share their lives. This is one of a series of books, The Tallchiefs-a family whose ancestors are both Indian and Scottish-a interesting combo. After reading this one-I'll now find and read the others in this series, as I want to read more about this fun, loving family. I highly recommend this book.
I like this book because of the Indian Leagions.......2000-04-18
This book was good, no great... Im not really into all the romances and stuff but i read this and I really liked it. Cait Londen is a great auther and I think the series of the Tallchief Indeans is really cool. The book is cute with the girl Fiona growning up with all her brothers and being a litle manly and then you got the man, one hell of a man Joel. Hes a man the comes into her life thinking shes a convict because after a event she takes him to a hide-away..Fiona is a crazy character that wants her virginity to be broken and she also rides around on elephants...and Joel is the kinda man to get what he wants. So if I were you I would go buy this book right away!

From Back Cover.......2005-03-24
'I SHOULD'VE SAID YOU WERE A STOLEN BABY... YOUR NAME IS TALLCHIEF.'
The discovery of his heritage still raw, brooding Liam pledged to reclaim his birthright for his young son's sake. But he didn't need help from sassy-mouthed, high-class Michelle Farrell, a woman bent on unraveling his mysteries while weaving him into the Tallchief clan fabric...
Liam's unrefined, manly essence challenged Michelle. If ever a man needed the love and belonging of a family, he did. Though Liam wasn't a man to walk away from, Michelle wasn't a woman for staying. So when he kissed her as if she were rightfully his, why did she feel a fierce urge to claim him?
8th in The Tallchiefs series; 2nd in the Body & Soul series.
What does he see in her?!?.......2000-09-01
I just didn't get this one. Michelle is a nasty, overbearing snob. She makes derogatory comments about Liam's parenting ability, career choice, and personal life. She goes off on these rants that have no purpose and even does a "background check" on him!! I don't know about you, but if some man came up to me, knocked my parenting skills, made fun of my job, teased me about the death of my first husband, AND had me researched to PROVE how unfit I was? Well, let's just say I wouldn't be proposing to him!
Ha! More like he wouldn't know what hit him when I got done with him.
Liam is a hunk. I'll give you that. And apparently, we're supposed to deduce Michelle has a softer side because she wears toe nail polish.
Honestly, I couldn't get past the first three chapters. I simply couldn't stomach the thought of a lovely, tortured man going through life with such a nasty witch by his side.
Save your money!
Tallchief: The Homecoming.......2000-08-27
I was very disappointed in this book. I usually always love Cait London novels, but this one is the exception. I tried to keep reading this book, but I just had to give it up. I really didn't like Michelle at all. I'm very disappointed to say that I just had to give up three parts through the book. Just couldn't get interested. Liam was lovely but why the heroine had to be like she was, I don't understand. Awful!
A New Member To The Tallchief's Saga.......2000-08-21
Cait London has written another good book to the Tallchief saga.
This book is about Liam Tallchief and his search for the family he never knew about. His quest is not only for himself, but also for is young son. If you have liked and loved the Tallchiefs, then you must read this book, and hope Ms. London keeps them comming.
She did it again!.......2000-08-14
Ms. London has once again wrote one of THE best reads of the summer. For anyone who loves her books, Tallchiefs in particular, should read this book. We meet the Tallchief family once again, with this new addition. I had always wondered what happened to the other children of Una and Tallchief. Now I know. I won't give anything away, but I look at carpenter pants in a whole new way. lol. All I can say is: If you enjoy Ms. London, you will LOVE this book.
