Now, the classic books from the library of the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry--Fantastic Beasts & Where to Find Them and Quidditch Through the Ages--are available in hardcover in a sturdy boxed gift set. (These books are written by J.K. Rowling herself under the pseudonyms Newt Scamander and Kennilworthy Whisp.) Finally, Muggles will have the chance to discover where the Quintaped lives, what the Puffskein eats, and why it is best not to leave milk out for a Knarl. The Quidditch textbook explains where the Golden Snitch came from, how the Bludgers came into existence, and why the Wigtown Wanderers have pictures of meat cleavers on their clothes. Both books, designed to look like Harry Potter's actual, used Hogwarts textbooks, feature silly scribblings from Harry, Ron, and Hermione. Proceeds from the sale of this gift set will go to improving and saving the lives of children around the world. Harry Potter fans, rejoice! (All ages)

Harry Potter Schoolbooks.......2007-09-24
I really enjoyed these books. They were an enjoyable sampling of a few extra aspects of the Harry Potter universe. J.K. did a good job with fleshing out the history of quidditch and the variety of magical creatures that get mentioned throughout the HP series.
Cute and entertaining.......2007-08-29
A must read for Harry Potter fans. Quidditch Through the Ages is written to appear like a book that is actually been checked out from the Hogwarts Library while Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find them is an actual textbook used by Harry and Ron. The markings written by Harry and Ron in the book are priceless.
Harry Potter Schoolbooks.......2007-08-23
It is an amusing set of books. If you have all seven books, you will also like this set. I didn't realize that Rowling had written this set around book five. The money from the sales goes to charity and the odd facts are interesting. She is creative in her description of the different beasts in the first book and the history of quidditch in the second book. The other games that predate quidditch are amusing.
Good companion.......2007-08-16
These books are good to fill in the blanks that all of the creature and quiddich references leave in the Harry Potter series. they are short enough to read in one sitting, so they are worth it for any Harry Potter fan wanting to get a little more out of the HP universe
A Great Complement to the Harry Potter Series.......2007-08-16
These two books complement the Harry Potter Series. Designed as "school books" for Harry, they explain the game of quidditch and the different beasts which inhabit the wizarding world.
If you are a serious Harry Potter fan, you need these books

Book Description
A bestiary of the ages by a cavalcade of popular artists.
Beasts! is a classic mythological menagerie, comprised only of creatures that were thought at one time to actually exist, depicted by about a hundred of the most acclaimed artists and cartoonists coming from the most avant-garde ambits of the art world. The Beasts project has fired the imaginations of luminaries such as Craig Thompson, Souther Salazar, Jeff Soto, Glenn Barr, Dave Cooper, Tim Biskup, Seonna Hong, Jeremy Fish and Jay Ryan, who will present never-before-seen art completely original to this book, superbly laid out in breathtaking, full-color two-page spreads.
Beasts! collects many of the best visual artists from the worlds of comics, skateboarding, rock graphics, science-fiction, children's books, commercial and fine art. The book is conceived and designed by Jacob Covey, lead art director for Fantagraphics (Dennis the Menace, Billy Hazelnuts, Hanging Out With the Dream King, etc.) and a well-regarded designer and artist in his own right in the Northwest rock and arts community. Other contributors include: Anders Nilsen, Art Chantry, Brian Chippendale, Brian Ralph, Bwana Spoons, Colleen Coover, Jason Miles, Jesse LeDoux, Johnny Ryan, Jordan Crane, Keith Shore, Kevin Scalzo, Marc Bell, Martin Cendreda, Mat Brinkman, R. Kikuo Johnson, Richard Sala, Sammy Harkham, Stan Sakai, S. Britt, Steven Weissman, Ted Jouflas, Tom Gauld and many more!

Great book with a lot of highpoints........2007-08-29
I expected to like this book since it features several of my favorite artists such as Richard Sala and Dave Cooper. But I was surprised by how cool this book is. The production and design are top-notch and the different artists really turned out some of their best work. Even people you've never heard of will impress you. Everyone seems to have had fun with this idea.
To sum up-this is one of the best purchases I've made all year.
Not what I expected.......2007-06-27
A collection of short (not even half a page) descriptions and some creative artwork make this book seem interesting yet it is not what I expected.
You should know that first and foremost this is an art book. It is a collection of work by artists who create comics, skate graphics, rock posters, and children's books so it pretty much looks like a comic book. Yes, I know, it is the artist's interpretation of the beast and the charm of the book for many, just not for me. I think it was interesting to depict Cerberus, the hound of hell as a weenie-dog attacking a mildly distracted mail carrier's knee and the Harpy as something that looks like Popeye with wings and breasts.
If you are into this type of artwork you will probably like this book. However, if you are looking for a book about beasts and mythological monsters, this isn't it. The descriptive text is short and the artwork seems to be more of a distraction than an enhancement.
I obviously didn't read enough about the book before I ordered it as I did so based on the subject matter. However, this is an art book and the artwork is the central feature, not the descriptive text.
Amazing Book.......2007-04-06
I've never seen anything like it, highly original and entertaining. A fascinating look at creatures and the span of artistic style throughout the various fields of art. Ranging from gig poster designers to children's book illustrators. It's a solid addition to anyone's collection.
An Unexpected Book!.......2007-03-15
If you're really into vampires, trolls, loch ness monsters, and beasts that don't even have a name but were finally given one just so they could have a place in this book because they were just so darn interesting (seems like it, though apparently that's not ~really~ the case), then this is the book for you. A really beautiful binding plus lovely artwork and snappy but smart descriptions makes the perfect Beasts! book.
The descriptions probably won't go over three sentences long and are snappy and to the point. There are times when I wish they could have provided more information, but really, they've just managed the right amount to keep the book engaging but not overactive with information, and it's nice to know how such a truly different book can make you go, "how weird but cool". You wouldn't believe what some of these beasts can do and what kind of names they have - Laestrygonians, man-eating giants, for instance.
All of the illustrations are delightfully creative and stay true to form. They all match their descriptions extremely well and just harmonize with the page, giving you an excellent visual representation of the beast. They're not like creatures from Pan's Labryinth sketchbook or whatever, but they each have distinctive style from the other and the imagination is just amazing. One of my favorites is the vampire image - just so clean with so much contrast, long, needle-point fangs, a bloody mouth and arm, and piercing, white eyes; it really makes me scared. All of the illustrations are fantastic, really.
This book will make an interesting add to your bedside, coffee, work, or whatever table you put it on. The monsters are something to look at, and you'll just admire how everything was done from the layout to the pictures to the nice descriptions. Personally, I also love the cover of the book. It looks even more elaborate and beautiful in real-life.
Cryptozoological Fun!.......2007-02-05
Over 90 modern artits are in this book.Including Tony Millionaire, Jordan Crane ,Dan Yeagle, and my fav Josh Cochran. Assembled is a great book of monsters given form by many modern artists. Some monster you'll like some you'll hate, but you'll have fun looking them up through this book. It took about three years for this to come out and with so many artists invovled I can understand why.
I waited forever for this to come out. I actually found out about it because of art show mix up. One of the artists apperaing in the book had some pieces in another art show called COVER TO COVER. They used his work from this book on the flyer and that was the only reason I went to the art show. Well that piece wasn't there and I was pissed. Then I found out about this book a couple months later and have been waiting for it to come out. Then I found out there was a art show for this books release and so I went and actually met the guy who did the piece that intially grabbed me. Tritons by Josh Cochran. He even signed my book. So did fiften other artists.
Book Description
Not once, not twice, but ten times in one month the Lord appeared to Choo Thomas and took her on a breathtaking journey. Over 500,000 readers around the world (in 43 languages) have bought copies of this book! Here is a personal story of how she saw the living Christ, visited hell, and walked in heaven. " On January 19, 1996, I woke up at 3:00 in the morning. My body was shaking
I turned my head on the pillow to look in the direction of the sound, and there, all-aglow, was a figure dressed in white garments. It was the Lord
" How could this be happening to me? I wondered
as I began to tremble
and to weep tears of love and joy. " `My daughter
I am your Lord, and I want to talk to you. I am going to visit you many times before this work is done.' " The impact of His voice, His words, His message hit me with a supernatural force
" Readers will passionately share her experiences, sense the growing wonder of His presence, feel the weight of His tender words, and drink in the Spirit of God.

The best book about heaven.......2007-09-28
I have collected every Christian book on heaven. Ranging from books written from the 19th century to the 21st century, and so far Choo's is the best because:
1) It grabs me right away because Dr. Yonggi Cho, Pastor of the largest church in the world with over 1 million members, wrote the forward and translated it into Korean - demonstrating his total trust in Choo's credibility;
2) I could see Choo's deep love and devotion to our Lord, forsaking every worldly thing in order to draw closer to Christ;
3) Choo's writing immerses you with vivid pictures of heaven and hell.
I would highly recommend this book to anyone seeking a deeper knowledge of Christ and to those wanting a manual on how to get to heaven.
HEAVEN IS SO REAL! So don't miss it.
Total Blessings and Excellent.......2007-09-27
I was the most blessed when I read the "Heaven is so real" book.
It is not only a Choo Thomas' personal testimony of visiting heaven but also conveying a powerful messages from the Lord Jesus.
I found the deeper love of Jesus Christ for His church and His children through this book. At the same time His warning to His children of Laodicean church is there because He cares.
Some may disagree with this book because they believe it is unscriptural.
However I believe this is extra-biblical and will be a blessing for those who read and believe with open heart. If you do not believe, please be quiet because you may blaspheme the Holy Spirit without knowing.
If you don't understand some part you pray to the Lord to reveal His truth.
Please read the Gospel of Matthew 12:31, Mark 3:29 and Luke 12:10.
I believe the true author of this book is the Lord Jesus Himself.
When you focus your heart on the Lord Jesus while reading the Holy Spirit will bless you beyond your imagination.
Critics are always there even in Jesus time but they regret a million times now in unwanted place.
I recommend to everyone to read and share this Heaven book because Jesus is coming back very soon, sooner than most think.

Approach with skepticism!.......2007-09-24
After considerable deliberation, I have reached the conclusion that the woman who wrote this book was either deliberately trying to make a quick buck by publishing a pack of lies, OR she is so mentally unbalanced that she is unable to discern between reality and fantasy. I'm hoping she is just unbalanced, because it really makes me angry when people deliberately write lies and call it the truth. If you haven't read "Heaven is so Real" yet, then save your money. In her heaven, Jesus tools around in an electronic push button speed boat with stained glass windows (now mind you there is no mention of cars, airplanes, trains, motorcycles, or even bicycles, but, by golly, there are speed boats). If the windows in the boat are stained glass, how does one see through them to steer the boat? Also, He (Jesus) cooks rainbow colored fish on an electronic push button B-B-Q grill. If lions and other carnivorous beasts are destined to eat grass (vegetation) in Heaven, then why are people eating flesh in Heaven? Death in Heaven? And that is just the tip of the iceberg. Her book is nonsense from beginning to end. Of which, at the end of the book, she cautions against letting anyone mark you with the number 666. Gee, does anyone still believe that? Aren't we all savvy to the notion that the mark of the beast will most likely be a microchip implant? I guess not. The bottom line is that I am not going to buy anymore books written by people who claim to have had a "trip" to heaven or hell because their "experiences" can't be verified and I'm tired of being buffaloed. I'll find out what Heaven is like when I get there.
Excellent Book.......2007-09-23
This is an awesome book and lines up with almost every account of heaven I have read.
A Most Awesome and Inspiring Book from the Throne of God.......2007-09-01
I read "Heaven is So Real", and parts of it many times. This book, a real treasure, encourages those who are believers and working for the Kingdom of God and portrays the joys of heaven which await them, and it is a warning to the unbelievers and the lukewarm Christians, to repent of their sins, and begin an intimate relationship with Jesus, before it is eternally too late. We go through this life only once, and once you cross over into eternity, it is not possible to go back to repent of wrong habits, deeds, and attitudes in your life, so it behooves all of us to wake out of sleep, make things right with God, and prepare for the coming of Jesus, which is now upon us, and could happen at any moment.

It's the dawn of the Great Tribulation, "the bloodiest season in the history of the world." After lying in state for three days, Nicolae Carpathia has risen from the dead. As the world responds in awe, statues of the potentate and "god" are erected in every major city, and a new religion, "Carpathianism," is in full swing. Followers of the antichrist are branded with a loyalty mark on their right hands or their foreheads, and "vaccinated" with a biochip embedded with personal information. Those who refuse the mark take a one-way trip to the guillotine. The second coming of Christ is only three-and-one-half years away. But can the Tribulation Force hang on?
"The God who calls you to the ultimate sacrifice will also give you the power to endure it. No one can receive the mark of the beast by accident. It is a once-and-for-all decision that will forever condemn you to eternity without God," writes Tsion Ben-Judah in his daily newsletter with its cyberaudience of more than a billion. Heavenly power may be the only hope for the Tribulation Force, as it struggles to survive amidst new terrors, the death of more loved ones, and some unexpected twists in its plans.
The Mark: The Beast Rules the World is the eighth installment in the blockbuster Left Behind series. Rich in dialogue, this action-packed thriller delivers the same consistent mix of apocalyptic mayhem and quirky humor readers have come to expect from the pen of Jerry Jenkins and the prophetic interpretations of Tim LaHaye. --Cindy Crosby

From the very first letter of the alphabet that my eyes looked upon inside this series of books, until the very last period of the very last sentence, I was hooked. Each one of these books absorbed my attention like no other book has ever done in my life. Biblically sound, theatrically entertaining, and brilliantly written, the Left Behind books will inspire you to dig into God's word and take the pieces of news from your T.V. screen and match them right smack-dab up with the prophecies of the Bible. Your hair will stand up, your heart will race, and you will find yourself helplessly caught in the suspense. Once you finish one of these books, you will desperately race to your computer screen or your local library to pick up the next one!

I liked it!.......2007-05-21
Yes, it was an easy read. I have read the whole series and never spent more than a few hours reading it. Still, the plot made it irresistable. That being said, the "Left Behind" promoters have left no stone unturned and parlayed this into an industry unto itself, like "40 Days of Purpose" or TBN - buy the audio tapes, buy the tee shirts, join the club - and, hey, don't forget to buy a nice Christian coffee mug and bumper sticker while you're at it! My husband calls all the little extras "Christian crap"-- and I tend to agree.
If you want a good, fast-paced, easy-to-read story, with some theology thrown in to boot, read the book, enjoy it, and bypass the cofee mugs and tee shirts! If you just HAVE to spend money, send a donation to the Gideons so they can put a Bible in someone's hands, or send it to Operation Christmas Child or some other worthy cause :)

great excitement.......2007-09-17
I really enjoyed this latest book by jenny nimmo (although I always wonder if her last name is owwin spelled backwards). All of our villains make great showings in this book. Two new villains are introduced, Dagbert Endless whose talent is to drown people and Aunt Venetia's new stepson who has the ability to move stone. They and the rest of the bloor's crew are out to prevent charlie from saving Asa who angered the bloors by changing sides in the last book. Now that the red king's tree and charlie's dad have awakened all craziness is breaking loose. Dagbert is especially interesting as he is developing new powers throughout the book and we see he needs gold sea figurines to control himself, although we don't know why. The book feels as if it is the beginning of a new series of adventures so don't expect all of the new questions to be answered
An altogether delightful book.

each book brings a great adventure for all her readers.
Charlie Bone and the Beast.......2007-08-08
I thought this was Jenny Nimmo's best book yet, and I've read them all. It was well-written, with a good, exciting plot and storyline. The characters were well developed and I liked them. I thought it was a satisfying continuation of the series' story.
When Charlie Bone Gets Older, He Aspires To Be Harry Potter.......2007-08-04
Call me a sheep. I'm as big a fan as the next kid of Harry Potter on the edge of my seat awaiting each new installment (and now there's no more edge of my seat moments with Harry Potter). So while I'm waiting, it was good to find Jenny Nimmo's Charlie Bone.
Another boy going to another school not solely comprised of wizards, but with enough of them to make it seem so. While the series may seem clone-like, I still think it's fantastic for the slightly younger wizard in your household. They're much easier to read with simpler story lines, but still have enough pull to keep the youngster enthralled.
This is the first book in the series which also includes Charlie Bone and the Time Twister, Charlie Bone and the Castle of Mirrors, and Charlie Bone and the Invisible Boy.

The Antichrist is dead... or is he? The city of Chicago lies in ruins, the safe house is blown, and the Global Community police are hot on the heels of the Tribulation Force. And who assassinated Nicolae Carpathia?
It's a formidable challenge to keep the attention of an audience midway through a projected 12-volume series, but with their trademark blend of humor and gripping suspense, authors Jerry Jenkins and Tim LaHaye continue to captivate readers with The Indwelling, the seventh installment of the Left Behind series.
Carpathia's funeral takes a hair-raising turn for the 4 million people who attend. Over the crowd looms the centerpiece of a new world religion, a 24-foot bronze statue of Carpathia, belching black smoke and demanding obedience. Woven through the fast-paced drama are the ongoing stories of people struggling amid the end-times mayhem: Chloe Williams wrestles with the moral implications of killing her toddler Kenny to avoid having him fall into enemy hands; her father Rayford Steele is brought face-to-face with the consequences of his pride. Dr. Chaim Rosenzweig, a prominent Jewish Israeli statesman, ponders a conversion to Christianity.
The strength of the series comes from Jenkins's ability to keep the action moving and readers caring about the characters. And there's a hook: The end of The Indwelling promises, "If the last three and a half years are your idea of tribulation, wait until you endure the Great Tribulation." The bad news is just beginning. But, the Tribulation Force believes, good news is also on the way. --Cindy Crosby
Book Description

In dramatic fashion, readers are exposed to the horrors of God's judgment and the hope of salvation. Rayford, Buck, Chloe, and the rest of the Tribulation Force find themselves at the center of heart-stopping action. Number one on the New York Times Best Sellers List for four weeks.

Indeed, the Beast is taking Possession... of Your Money.......2007-09-11
Toward the top of this very page, the authors declare: "For some reason, I'm finding that a large percentage of people who greet us at signings, etc., and tell us they have read "all the books" actually haven't. They are largely unaware that between books 12 (Glorious Appearing) and 13 (Kingdom Come) we produced three prequels (The Rising, The Regime, and The Rapture). These need not be read before Kingdom Come (the final sequel), but if you're a Left Behind fan, you won't want to miss them.
Dr. LaHaye and I also have a new series -- fiction based on the gospels -- that began last November with John's Story: The Last Eyewitness. Late this year the second of the four titles, Mark's Story: The Gospel According to Peter will release. And, of course, we'll finish with Luke's Story and Matthew's Story. As always, I'd love to hear from you."
Indeed, they'd love to hear from you, to hear the sound of your money clinking in the cashbox of sanctimony. In addition to the Left Behind Series of 13 books, there are now audio-books (abridged and unabridged), parallel children's books (Children Left Behind!?! Have these sadists no shame?), movie versions, computer games (teaching bigotry and violence), and countless books pretentiously analyzing the novels as theology! And some people worry about Microsoft or Google accumulating too much influence! Just where is all the money going? What charity is Tim LaHaye supporting with his wealth? Bill Gates has a foundation to promote world health care. Can the false prophets account for their true profits?
This one has what was missing.......2007-02-28
I've enjoyed all the books in this series so far. As many critics have pointed out they are not great literature. But, they have certainly been fun reads. They are all action packed and easy to read. However, one thing that has always bothered me about them was that they were often very light on the tension and dread which I would imagine during the tribulation. This book was the first one in which I really began to feel that dread. For me, that was a huge step. It still isn't great literature, so maybe 5 stars is too genereous. But, after six books where I felt the horor of the time was glossed over I was happy to finally get that feel.
The Indwelling: The Beast Takes Possession (Left Behind #7).......2007-01-12
This book was given as a gift and was well received. The Indwelling is an excellent book. I would highly recommend this book to anyone.
The Indwelling: The Beast Takes Possession Left Behind #7.......2007-01-04
Another great book written by Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins, this is another one to add to your book collection or to buy-read-and pass along.

great story and very steamy.......2007-07-24
This book had a great story line and I like the way Lora Leigh writes
Breeds 1 Success.......2007-07-05
What a marvelous series. It held my attention to the end and I couldn't wait to read the next book. This series is a paranormal, exotic romanic hit.
Loved It.......2007-05-08
I had read Megans Mark and Harmony's Way before I read this and have to say I enjoyed those more. But i did enjoy this very much. I love Lora Leigh's books, I am now hooked.
Premise has potential, but...Disappointing.......2007-04-06
The premise of people with animal DNA I thought had potential for interesting differences and conflicts. Having read and enjoyed other paranormal and "romantica" novels, the reviews had me looking forward to this one. The main characters were attractive enough, and although the plot was fairly predictable the book's biggest disappointment was that the hot encounters between Callan and Merinus was so motivated by an overwhelming chemical dependency (via Callan's pheromones) that the sex was disturbingly and distractingly involuntary--like a drug addiction. If this sounds like it would bother you, look elsewhere.

*HOT HOT HOT*.......2007-05-08
OKAY, I LOVED THIS BOOK! THREE QUICK STORIES WITH LOTS OF SEX! WHAT CAN I SAY!
three fun erotic romantic fantasies .......2007-04-21
"Chanku Fallen" by Kate Douglas. In New Mexico, shape-shifting Chanku wolves A.J. and Mik rescue gang-raped Tala. The trio soon shares a heated ménage de trois enhanced by a fervent sensuous telepathic link.
"Fantasie" by Noelle Mack. In France, Tanya enters a mysterious castle where she meets Jean Claude and a seemingly feral lion. She wanders the castle where she observes lovers enjoying each other. Jean Claude seems to be one of them each time. Tanya wants to be his co-star in every room, but wonders if he is showing her reality from his past as a time traveler and perhaps their future or is he providing her with a master deception to bed her in the present?
"Call of the Wild" by Kathleen Dante. Wolf-shifter deputy sheriff Graeme Luger rescues Deanna Lycan, who makes him hot just looking at her as he believes his mate has arrived. She is unaware of the wolf blood that flows inside her, but he plans to heat that blood with passionate lovemaking bestial style.
These three fun erotic romantic fantasies will provide plenty of pleasure to the audience. Although the sexual encounters differ, each contains full blooded hot hunks and the sirens who send them beyond boiling.

WITH A SWEET TWIST OF ROMANCE....
MMMMMM.......2007-04-06
Chanku Fallen: For those who have followed the Chanku series, you will be happy to know that Mik and AJ finally get their own story! They are searching for Baylors sister and find there bond mate. The story is very sensitive to the love between Mik and AJ but allows them to become a happy menage with their female Chanku mate. Very hot and sexy as heck!
Fantaisie:Interesting concept about immortality and love. Voyeurism and acrobatics abound.
Call of the Wild: Deanna is seeking her heritage and finds it with Graeme. The sex is hot and be warned that his wolf makes an uxexpected appearance during sex...may be a little too off the charts for some more sensitive readers. But if you have the craving for anything hot and sexy this story will rock your world!

My cousins wish it was a toy!.......2007-09-17
This is a great book to teach kids about biology, evolution and nature in general.
Some (if not all) of the fold out creatures are amazing feats of ingenuity ;the mammoth with its long trunk never ceases to capture my cousins attentions (aged 3 and 6). The only problem I have is that they think the book is a toy and they want to touch the animals. I highly recommend these series for all that like to tell stories and teach young kids about the world we live in....and anybody else that like colourful graphics and amazing craftsmanship.
Really great book!.......2007-09-06
I bought my 5 year old all three of the books in this series and he loves them! The pop ups are so complex, yet they stand up every time. There are 5 or 6 pop ups on each page, so the book is chock full of fun for my son.
Encyclopedia Prehistorica Mega-Beasts .......2007-08-25
This is an awesome pop up book! I bought it for my 3 year old's B-Day. He loves looking at the book while I read to him about the prehistoric Mega-Beasts. I actually have learned a lot myself from this book. Although you would normally think this book is for boys. My six year old daughter also enjoys me reading these books to her. They are fun and very educational. I am a high school teacher and I really think this pop up book would be very valuable to any science classroom. I liked this book so much I also purchased the other two in the set!
So unbelievably cool!.......2007-08-18
Holy cow this is the most amazing pop-up book I've ever seen! I cannot wait until my son is old enough to enjoy this book. It's absolutely filled with fantastic pop-ups PLUS great information to boot.
Just thinking about it makes me smile. :D Definitely buy this book, you'll love it!
Rivetting.......2007-08-10
Initially I bought this book for my thre children - 7yrs, 5yrs and 2yrs. They made wonderful appreciateve noises when the parcel was opened. I then decided to show it to my Year 3 (8 yr olds). Although they weren't allowed to touch it the class was fascinated. The pop ups were magical and we continued to find more information and more pop ups where ever we looked. Fantastic
Book Description
The Whole Beast: Nose to Tail Eating is a certified "foodie" classic. In it, Fergus Henderson -- whose London restaurant, St. John, is a world-renowned destination for people who love to eat "on the wild side" -- presents the recipes that have marked him out as one of the most innovative, yet traditional, chefs. Here are recipes that hark back to a strong rural tradition of delicious thrift, and that literally represent Henderson's motto, "Nose to Tail Eating" -- be they Pig's Trotter Stuffed with Potato, Rabbit Wrapped in Fennel and Bacon, or his signature dish of Roast Bone Marrow and Parsley Salad. For those of a less carnivorous bent, there are also splendid dishes such as Deviled Crab; Smoked Haddock, Mustard, and Saffron; Green Beans, Shallots, Garlic, and Anchovies; and to keep the sweetest tooth happy, there are gloriously satisfying puddings, notably the St. John Eccles Cakes, and a very nearly perfect Chocolate Ice Cream.

If you want to get back to real food this is for you
Great book .......2007-02-14
This is a great book for all cooks and foodies no matter if you are a pro or a novice i highly recommend its reading. It is mostly reading however not much illustration but all the same good.
interesting subject.......2007-01-19
This really caught my eye because I thought it might have some recipes that are practical (if yucky sounding) for those of us who slaughter livestock at home. But most of the recipes are disappointing, with things everyone has heard of or stuff nobody would have around at home to use. It is interesting, but the title is really the best part of it. I'm not saying it is bad...it isn't...it just wasn't the shock-value sort of stuff I thought it would be.
offal = wonderful.......2007-01-16
fergus henderson, the wunderkind of the london dining scene reaches out to america with his cult of blood, brains, tripe and feet. this book shows how one can make something that is generally regarded as a by-product and turn it into something wonderful, delicious and filling. i have personally been inspired by this book for several years and though it is sometimes hard to source some of the ingredients (duck necks anyone?) it is a clear, easy to read and mostly non-overly philosophical look at straight-ahead cooking with ingredients that are second or even third cuts. it is a real eye opener for the novice, or an inspirational look at food for the professional.
Back to my childhood.......2007-01-09
Some really great recipes for things like "braun" and "crispy pig's ear salad!
It is great fun to read and to try some of the recipes.
