Book Description

Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.

Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.

5 out of 5 stars Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09

There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.

For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.

It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.

4 out of 5 stars History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10

Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.

I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.

Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.

Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.

I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.

This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.

3 out of 5 stars More lust than love..........2007-04-15

Susan Johnson's "Blaze" is my favorite romance novel, so I was anxious to read this next installment in the Braddock-Black series. However, I was very disappointed in the lack of affection between the hero and heroine in "Silver Flame." It basically felt like a tale of two people who hated each other, but were too aroused to give each other up.

The hero and heroine fall into bed immediately upon meeting, which was simply too fast for my personal taste, but through the course of a few weeks, develop what holds the promise of being a sweet and lasting love. Then comes a long separation, and bitterness sets in. The last half of the book is them hurling hurtful words at each other while being unable to resist each others' bodies. The hero even goes as far as to call her a whore (he's one to talk with his womanizing history!!) which made him completely despicable in my eyes.

What I did appreciate was Susan Johnson's passion for research, which really shines through as it did in "Blaze." Sometimes I forgot that I was reading a romance novel because I was intrigued by the world of the story and its rich history. Although, this time around, I did tend to think that she was too wordy. A brief dialogue can drag out for pages to the point of forgetting what a character's response was in reference to.

If only the hero could have stayed the sweet and tender lover that he was in the first half of the book. His schizophrenic personality really ruined it for me.

1 out of 5 stars Huge Disapointment!.......2007-02-21

From reading other reviews, I know mine isn't the majority, but I'll tell you how I felt anyway.
Erotic, yes! Worth reading, a huge NO! I am a die hard romance novel reader, and had heard Susan Johnson's name come up a time or two. So I bought one of her books (Silver Flame). I'm glad that I only bought one, because I do not see myself reading anything from her again. I agree with one of the other's review when she said that the first 3/4 of the book was great. But it went downhill from there. Trey was your typical arrogant "hero" and when he started belittling Empress every chance he got, I couldn't wait for him to get what was coming to him, but it never happened. After being treated so horribly I expected Empress, to at least hold him accountable for the way he treated her and the things said. It left me with the feeling that she was weak and spineless and had no pride whatsoever. Instead of leaving me entertained, it left me appalled. If you read this book be prepared for a huge disappointment in the end.

4 out of 5 stars Book Description.......2005-07-27

From the mistress of erotic historicals comes her steamy sequel about the Braddock-Black dynasty from Blaze. The fires of romance are white-hot when Empress Jordan flees to the Montana wilderness and finds a man as wild as the land around him.

5 out of 5 stars Maybe the best Johnson book!!.......2004-07-06

I read Forbidden first and totally fell in love with the romance of Daisy and the Duc -- but then read Silver Flame and wow -- this might be better. I imagined Trey to be drop dead georgeous and what a ladies man he was - which of course was the whole problem after he meets Empress (under the most unusual circumstances) she never can quite get past his history with women. If she could have only trusted him a little more they would have saved a year of such pain between them. By the time they meet again - it is Trey that is not trusting of Empress and one keeps hoping that his pride will finally let down and he will admit the love he has been carrying with him and they will finally get back together. This is really a great love story - both characters are very real and you totally feel the love. The Braddock Black series is one of the best of all time!!!

5 out of 5 stars Wow!!.......2004-04-06

This was one of the best romance novels that I have ever read. This is a must have for any avid book reader's collections. You will not be wasting your time on this one......Go ahead and enjoy.

1 out of 5 stars To Light A Sacred Flame: Practical Witchcraft for the Millenium .......2007-10-03

I would not recomend this book to anyone, let alone the poor novice that picks up this worthless and sometimes dangerous piece of dribble. Her past books are none too better. I was born into a pagan family, so I did not have the problem of coming out of the "broom closet" and neither did my four children. However I am extremely disappointed with Silver's encouragement to hide\lie to the parents of her younger readers.
Also the spells in the book are rather vauge and incomplete in most cases and contradicting in others. The section on "Spirits" is down right frightening. PLEASE....Do not use these Spirits without some real research.
Being from a pagan family I seem to be the dumping ground for her books. I wouldn't even give one of these away because I believe them to be less than worthless.
Remember........LET THE BUYER BEWARE.....such truer words have ever been spoken about this piece of repetitive fiction passed off as WICCA.

1 out of 5 stars A "Victim".......2007-07-02

This is a review about all of Silver Ravenwolf's "To Ride a Silver Broomstick" and its sequels and her BOS-Encyclopedia book.

Until today, I never realized the ineffectiveness of Silver Ravenwolf's books. I am 16. I have read/owned her books since I was 11. When my (christian) aunt came into my room about one week ago when I was playing with my cousins, my immediate reaction was "Oh no, she's going to think I'm corrupting her children with what she thinks is a 'Satanic, evil' religion." When I reflected upon my reaction, I realized I was judging my aunt, and Christianity, and that I, I was the one who was being judgmental and persecuting her. Silver Ravenwolf's books do slam Christians. I totally bought into her slander. Who doesn't want to feel better than one third of the world, more enlightened than one third of the world? Everyone wants to feel like they know secrets that other people do not. Everyone wants to be "right." I was/am no exception. If you want tolerance, it is not in these books, although they preach tolerance.

I have also come away with a paranoid attitude toward Wicca/Witchcraft. I feel like it is forbidden, hated by society. Silver Ravenwolf encourages teens to hide their practice from people for fear of persecution. Maybe she is right, but I feel scared to even TALK about it. That is not an attitude that anyone should have about divinity or their chosen religion.

Also, if you asked me to define "Wicca" or "Witchcraft" I would give you a very vague answer. I do not know the difference - what have I been practicing?! I could tell you some stuff about paganism, but not Wicca.

Well, I have begun studying ceremonial magic out of "Modern Magic" by Donald Michael Kraig. I have not read any reviews of the book, but I feel like I finally have an idea what I am supposed to be feeling in the rituals I perform. Kraig is very clear about what is factual history and what is mythical "history." With Ravenwolf, spellcasting techniques were so vague that I felt I had no solid base to work from.

The only way to practice a religion is the way it is meant to be practiced, not any way you feel like it. Even Wicca, a new religion, does have core beliefs that need to be adhered to. You can't just study the occult in general and consider yourself Wiccan or a Witch.

DO NOT BUY THIS BOOK ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE A BEGINNER. YOU WILL ONLY GET WRONG AND VAGUE INFORMATION. I WAS MISLEAD BY HER BOOKS.

2 out of 5 stars A little to complicated.......2007-05-24

I enjoyed many of the exercises in the book but found a lot of it to be a little more complicated than I like my magic. I prefer things simpler. As far as the naked woman on the cover being tacky, I personally thought it was a beautiful picture. Many wiccans to practice there craft skyclad anyway.

2 out of 5 stars not for me.......2007-05-15

Okay this is a review towards almost all of Silver Ravenwolf's books. I will not use any of it because from my own personal experience it has never helped me. Some people have stated that she goes on about disliking other spiritual paths such as Christianity and for one that's not really why I disliked her books at all. As a matter of fact these people really need to reread her or maybe they never actually read her books in the first place. Her husband is a Christian (if I remember correctly) so how can she 'hate' christianity?

I disliked her books because I found that they were way to fluffy and lovey dove for my taste. I found her research laughable at best but in a sort of entertaining sort of way. It seems that she takes herself way to serriously and needs to re-re-research the facts and open her mind a little but than again who doesn't?

I guess some people may get value from this book but I myself found it not for me but others might place value with what she writes.

4 out of 5 stars Very educational. Lots of information and exercises!.......2006-03-09

I loved this book. Silver really made this a participative read. I loved her exercises and her sense of humor. Although she tends to write for the younger crowd, I found this book to be enlightening and full of wonderful spells and charms. All of her books are wonderful. I highly recommend any book she has written. She takes her time to make sure her reading audience is completely interested in her words. I love this lady! You can't go wrong with Silver!!!

    5 out of 5 stars A great ending..........2007-04-11

A 3 book series that is well worth the read. Clever and well written. A little dated but hey, what can you do? Anyone interested in the Sci-Fi Fantasy genre should invest in these books. I went to the author's web page and mailed my copies to him, now I have signed copies! Hooray for me!

    5 out of 5 stars The finale.......2005-09-02

This is the third of the trilogy, but not end of the series itself. It fleshes out the characters and is very graphic at times. I wish someone would reprint all three in a nice trade paperback. They are not huge Jordanish novels and could easily fit in a nice trade. I consider them classics of fantasy.

5 out of 5 stars On the edge of a sword.......2004-06-08

Karl fights to free slaves and to destroy the slave guild. This is a good book especially if you like alot of fighting scenes with pretty graphic descriptions on how people are being killed than this is the book for you!

3 out of 5 stars The Sword and the Chain Redux.......2003-04-10

The Silver Crown is no worse and no better than The Sword and the Chain. Like its immediate predecessor, it seems to have no real theme other than the use of violent means to achieve noble ends. The promising theme of The Sleeping Dragon - the adaptation of people from our world to a fantasy world - has been all but abandoned. What we are left with is not much more than entertainment; enjoyable but neither provocative nor moving.

To be fair, there is a suggestion that the true plot of the series is a long-term effort by erstwhile professor Deighton to control the fantasy world. Deighton even makes an appearance in The Silver Crown. It could be that an incredibly complex storyline is about to emerge, in which case my opinion of books two and three may have to be revisited. For now, however, I remain of the view that The Silver Crown is a harmless read that should be enjoyed by most fantasy readers who don't mind a bit of violence in their stories.

5 out of 5 stars Can he do no wrong?.......2001-08-02

Joel Rosenberg has cemented his status in the fantasy-fiction world with his third installment of the Guardians of the Flame Series. The title in itself is prophetic, and to have Karl leading the region is somnething no one could have expected. As I said earlier in another review, Mr. Rosenberg does not mince when it comes to the question of likeable characters getting hurt seriously or killed off. There were many times in this book that I was upset about what happened to a favorite character, but I realize that Mr. Rosenberg is putting as much "reality" in it as possible. Characters do NOT live forever, and yes, sometimes the favorite ones get killed.

Once again, Mr. Rosenberg has outdone the preceeding edition, and I am sure that he will continue to do so.
