Book Description
Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

Calculations are only as good as your numbers.......2007-08-03
Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.
Pants on fire?.......2007-07-19
Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.
Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09
There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.
For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.
Very Interesting.......2007-03-07
It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.
History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10
Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.
I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.
Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.
Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.
I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.
This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.

A fun and informative hands-on astronomy book for kids........2000-05-21
The Night Sky is an excellent introduction to astronomy for children. I am a science teacher and have looked at many books preparing for my astronomy unit next year - and The Night Sky will be required reading for my class! Information is interesting and exciting. Stargazing is an essential part of the book, but done in the typical "One Small Square" fashion so as to interest and excite children with their new knowledge rather than overwhelm them. I loved this book! A must-have for any young scientist!

Pamela white's father left the ranch to go buy barbed wire and some hired guns to head off a range war that he was sure was coming. Our eastern Pamela was left in charge of the arizona dessert spread until he returned. And sitting on that powder keg was pretty unsettling even for this strong lady because she hated guns and violence. A dusty, disreputable stranger 'walks' in from the dessert in need of help. Pamela and Slade feel an immediate attraction but they are day and night. He clearly has a history with guns andis no man for a lady. He accepts the needed refuge and realizes that there is an undercurrent of danger going on and pamela is in the middle. Slade stays around to help her out.....The book is wonderful. It is clearly a question of can love survive when the personalities are alien to each other. Can a 'worthless' drifter be honorable and a man of integrity..Do we judge characters by appearance...Even early, greenwood defined his wonderful way with story lines and incredibly likeable characters........this is a keeper.........

Book Description
In Vietnam, 1968, the enemy was planning the kind of overwhelming attack that broke the French at Dien Bien Phu. But while U.S. Marines dug in at Khe Sanh, and recon missions probed the Laotian border, the enemy proved elusive-until it struck full force on an isolated Green Beret outpost. In the early darkness of February 7th, two dozen U.S. Special Forces soldiers and their indigenous fighters were overrun, attacked by waves of ground troops, mortars, flame-throwers, and a weapon they had not prepared for: North Vietnamese tanks. The battle of Lang Vei had begun. In this gripping, keenly told account, author William R. Phillips chronicles a desperate struggle for survival as the Green Berets held out against unrelenting fire from point blank range. Then, as the badly wounded Americans fought their way out of one death trap, they found themselves in another, still besieged with little hope for rescue-until a super secret, quick-reaction strike force launched one of the most daring missions of the war....
Customer Reviews:
A compelling tale of extraordinary heroism in Vietnam.......2005-06-16
"Night of the Silver Stars: The Battle of Lang Vei," by William R. Phillips, is a gripping nonfiction tale of the Vietnam War. The "about the author" section inside the book's back cover notes that Phillips served in the U.S. Marine Corps and is himself a Vietnam veteran. Phillips' sources for this book include interviews with a number of the participants in the battle. Retired general William C. Westmoreland contributed the book's foreword. The book's poetic title is an allusion to one of the United States military's highest decorations for valor in combat.
Lang Vei was a Green Beret outpost that was the object of a major attack in 1968. Phillips strikes a very effective balance of technical details and human elements as he tells the story. The book is full of intense combat scenes. The straightforward, fact-driven style is well matched to the subject matter. Intriguingly, Phillips notes where there are disagreements or ambiguities among his sources, thus reminding us of the difficulty in capturing history on the printed page.
The book is full of revealing details about weapons, vehicles, and tactics. Phillips looks carefully at the complex interlocking aspects of 20th century warfare, including human intelligence, air support, illumination, communications, first aid, and leadership. He vividly captures the "Murphy's Law" aspect of combat, whereby weapons malfunction and other things go unexpectedly wrong. Particularly fascinating is the human complexity of the battlespace in this account; the story involves not only U.S. military from different branches, but also Laotian and ethnic Vietnamese forces, as well as different tribal peoples of Vietnam.
Phillips weaves the personal stories of a number of the battle participants into the overall story. He also goes into detail about the long odyssey faced by the mother of a soldier who was declared MIA in the battle. The text is further enhanced by several pages of photographs and other illustrations, as well as by a bibliography and index. Written with intelligence and compassion, "Night of the Silver Stars" is a fitting tribute to the remarkable heroism shown by the warriors of Lang Vei.
one of the best.......2001-06-26
This book fortells of the horrors to come of the Marines at Khe Sanh and the courage of the Green Beret detachment stationed Lang Vei to defend their small outpost against overwhelming odds against the first armored assult against Americans in the war. My outlook on not just the guys in spec ops but for all the grunts in the field is that they didnt fight for honor or country they fought for friendship and survival and that is one thing that truly speaks itself in this book. This is one of the best written books on small unit action of the war and will be in my collection forever!!!!
Brave men in Combat.......2001-01-21
I didn't care for this book. Although I have read many account of the Vietnam War, this one just didn't hold my interest. I was barley able to finish it. My opinion is certainly no reflection on the bravery and sacrifice of the men involved. I am talking literally style only. To the pure war enthusiast this book has genuine merit. It tells the story of brave men in combat and honors their memory with respect. We owe them a lot.
A reader.......2000-07-03
Contrary to other readers I found the author erred by concentrating on one of the participants at Lang Vei, namely, Lt. Longgrear, who had come so lately to the camp and knew nothing of the background or of the Green Berets involved in the history of the camp.
Parts of the author's descriptions of certain events contrast sharply with those of the Team Sargeant, William T. Craig, who was not trapped in the Command Bunker but was on the run outside the Bunker, along with several other Green Berets.
The author digresses repeatedly without making the effort to complete the subject matter thoroughly.
The book gives the reader only part of the story, however, as so many years have passed, it is no doubt impossible to ascertain what and why this particular event is still such a mystery.
Lang Vei-.......2000-06-13
A good account of the destruction of a base that should have been evacuated months before, it offered absolutly no tactical advantage. With the Marines holding the key hills with undermanned companies, it would have been impossible to reinforce the outpost without weakening another outpost, perhaps that was the hope of the North Viets. Gen. Westmorland, "the king of blunders", should have pulled the SF team out months before as well as the Marines holding the Khe Sanh and the surrounding hills. Or perhaps reinforced with units of the Air Cav that arrived at LZ Stud soon after the outpost was destroyed. The book is well writtten.

Most of my reviews are starting to sound the same!.......2006-08-23
Another book that I found a chore to read although I kind of liked it at the end. Nothing really stands out but at the end of the book I was glad for the happily ever after since the two lead characters went through so much. I liked Sophia & her relationship with her grandfather. Some of the rest of the story was fun (the Russian history, even if I have no idea if it was correct or not) but it seemed to go on & on. I was glad to get to the end and start another book. Probably not one that will stay with me for long.
Well-written dialogue and passion; frustrating plot.......2006-01-13
I started reading Jane Feather when I picked up a used copy of The Diamond Slipper and was instantly hooked. This story is far removed from that one, it is still very good, but the theme of an unhappy princess in the Russian court forced into an arranged marriage by the czarina was kind of overused. This is a predominant theme in many of Feather's novels (that of a forced marriage). The Diamond Slipper and the Silver Rose in the Charm Bracelet series follow that theme, too. Basically, the author gives the heroines license to commit adultery, to the extent that they can get away with it.
Sophie is a likable heroine. She is tomboyish and very physical, preferring riding a horse in men's breeches to wearing a gown into a drawing room. Adam is a great hero, I have no complaints about him, except that he knew from the beginning that Sophie was off-limits and that her husband was a psycho.
This book has a lot of passion and suspense. The lovemaking scenes do not disappoint. The ending could have been better, and the Czarina Catherine was a vapid character kind of scribbled into the story to create the conflict and provide some minor comic relief, but again, she frustrated me, too. Buy this one used.
* *Silver Nights* *.......2004-06-01
I did not mind the adultery at all. InFact it only added to the excitement in the plot. Since Sophie's husband was such an evil man, it was understandable that these lovers had to commit adultery to be with each other. I loved the Russian setting which is different and exciting from Jane feather's usual setting. This was a thoroughly enjoyable book. I absolutely loved the character of Sophie. She was one of the best heroines. Not at all like the usual needy, clingy, insecure females but strong, intelligent, confident and utterly secure in herself. I absolutely admired the fact that she never pestered Adam about his past but instead let him confide in her on his own. One of the best scenes was the "Devil's Punch Bowl" scene where Adam and Sophie stare up at the silver Russian sky scattered with stars wondering about their future. The imagery was beautiful and as always Jane feather's writing was incomparable. Sensual and beautiful... one can;t regret reading this book...Enjoy!!!
Russian silver nights.......2003-04-30
The setting is Russia in 1764, a nice change of scenery! The head of Russia, Czarina Catherine has arranged a marriage between Princess Sophia Alexeyevna and one of her head military leaders who is known to be a strict military tyrant at home as well as on the battle field, who is 30 years her senior. She will be his 4th wife (the 1st 3 were met by accidents). Apparently he is hard to please. Count Adam Danilevski, her future husband's head soldier, is her messenger and her escort to the wedding and new home. Due to the lengthy travel, Adam has a chance to get to know the free-spirited Sophie real well- her strengths and weaknesses, and falls in love with her wanting to protect her even from her future husband (knowing his "track record"). She suffers abuse at the hands of her husband for control of will and it is a loveless match. Sophie looks towards Adam for just a little spark of love that she must have to survive. The story is full of adventure, surprises, elaborate parties and secret escapades. How will Sophie escape him and who will be friend her- will be a surprise for you. The love she experiences with Adam is sooo sweet and your heart goes out to Adam at how the adultery tears at him. And without giving away the ending, I am sure glad that romances have happying endings because this one would have sure been a "tear-jerker" if not. It's a really good story and I truly recommend it.
Serves the genre well.......2003-01-06
This was the first Jane Feather book that I read and I still feel it is the best, some 10 years later. The story is captivating and suspenseful and the characters are well-written, with positive qualities and flaws. The setting is outside the usual British or American historical locale, which adds to its interest. All the way through this book you want to know what will happen to Sophie and Adam and you're not disappointed in the final outcome!

The Chilling Horror of Witchcraft.......2005-02-12
I am a Thelemite, but I also practive witchcraft. I got the Witches Chillers series because they were pretty inexpensive compared to other titles by the same author. I have read and liked both Silver Broomstick and Magick Cauldron. I read the first book in the series first to start chronologicly. The book was good, but not really a classic and while I liked it thought it could be better. That being said this second entry in the series is better than the first because it contains more depictions of actual teens practicing witchcraft and IMO better written so as to keep turning the pages. The first book didn't do that for me; I was hesitant to continue reading the book in chunks because I wasn't as interested in the subject matter. A clever book that at times reminded me of the brilliance of the fiction of Aleister Crowley. Recommended for younger occult practitioners.
A good thriller, if not the most realistic Wiccan story.......2003-01-05
I found this book to be a great improvement on the first book.
Nam deals with a very real problem in a realistic manner, although some of the book's events, like those of the first book, seem a little farfetched. Nevertheless, if you are simply looking for entertainment, it is written in a fastpaced and very readable style. Sidney is a welcome addition to the cast. The ending is wrapped up in a far more satisfactory manner than the first book.
Isobel Bird's CIRCLE OF THREE is a more accurate portrayal of life as a Wiccan teenager. WITCHES CHILLERS focus on being murder-mysteries as much as being Wiccan books for teens. They're pretty good as thrillers go, but like thrillers, require more suspension of disbelief on the part of the reader to overlook some things that tend not to happen to the average person. This is a thriller first, rather than a depiction of life as a typical Wiccan teen. That being said, it's a gripping and entertaining story.
Silver is an amazing writer.......2002-07-23
I have read all of the Witches' Chillers books and they all are amazing. But because this one introduces them all and give background makes it the best one in the series. I personally wish that there were more teen fiction books from her. It combines her knowledge of Wicca and the art of fiction which makes the best combo. I would recommend this and everyone of Silver Ravenwolf's books for anyone interested in Wicca or just a very cool read.
Witches' Night Of Fear.......2001-12-28
This is a great book. I love the that Silver Ravenwolf wirtes her ficton books. This story deals with the magick from the religion of wicca, not the fairytale stuff you know about. Bethany Salem, a 16 year old girl, along with her friends Tillie and Nam search for new members for their coven WNO(Witches' Night Out). During the book some strange things are happening with Nam. She get a new boyfriend and sunndenly she forgets to do things for the coven that she's supposed to. Also she stops showing up at meetings. Well bethany and tillie with the help of new friends try to figure out what's wrong. What they find out is very disturbing. All tuns out well in the end and the action and the mystery never stop. Another thing I like about this book and her other books in the series is that in the back she's listed hotline numbers for abues and other things. I really enjoyed this book and I hope she writes more for this series.
What can I say?.......2001-09-20
Although I enjoy Silver RavenWolf's non-fiction books, the Witches' Chillers series was not worth reading. I read "Witches' Night Out", and gave the books a second chance with this one: "Witches' Night Of Fear," but I just couldn't get hooked. Don't get me wrong, Silver is a wonderful author and I own many of her books which have helped me in my studies, but if you are looking for a Wiccan novel series, you should check out Cate Tiernan's "Sweep" books. Those are my favourite books of all time, and don't even compare to Silver RavenWolf's.
Blessed Be. (*)

I Like This.......2005-01-08
I had read Silver's To Stir a Magick Cauldron and had heard of her fiction and I got all 3 of the Witches Chillers on the same day because I could afford it. While not exactly cheap, that's about the average price of a regular mass market paperback. It baffles me how most people can't sheell out 5 bucks or so for a paperback. A clever, hip account of a fictionalized coven of witches. Though called Witches Chillers, I think this would only scare a Christian or those unsure of their spirituality. Those who are unsure of their faith get petrified at any strong views, regardless of what the thing is. A cool series of books for younger people interested in the occult. I would give it 5 stars but it is not a classic. The equivalent of a B horror film I guess.
Yuck.......2003-04-12
This book is very contradictory to what Silver Ravenwolf says in her other books.
Weakest of the series.......2003-01-05
I was not particularly impressed with how this book began. Indeed, Bethany was obsessed with revenge, cold towards her so called friends, acted like a spoiled brat, and did not seem to care what the results of her magick might be.
Thankfully, the writing style was easy to read and the story was fast-paced, and as the book went along Bethany became more likeable as she came out of her insular obsession with hatred and began opening up to her friends, working for good, and learning more about the true capabilities for and uses of magick.
I can understand how someone crazy with grief might seek revenge; however, the portrayal of Bethany's hatred at the beginning doesn't show Wiccans in the most positive light... By the end of the book this changes; however, hopefully people won't stop reading at the first few chapters and come away with the wrong idea.
The story itself is melodramatic and farfetched, even for a thriller. I had to stretch my suspension of disbelief. I found the ending rather unsatisfactory as two characters are removed from the series for what seems to be no good reason.
Still, for all its flaws, the book did succeed in entertaining me enough to pick up the next in the series. I have found that the two following books are great improvements on this one. However they make better sense if you've read this one...
Don't judge the series by this book, particularly by the beginning.
If only..........2002-03-12
I have been looking for an author to replace my favorite - L.J. Smith. I picked this one up because I have read through one of Ravenwolf's books and thought it was quite decent. It, however, was nonfiction and this is fiction. There are errors as others have pointed out and it seems to have skipped the good old fashioned workshop phase. I believe it would have greatly improved the writing. There was a storyline here. I just feel that it fell short of what it could have been...I suggest the relatively new (?) talent of Isobel Bird and her series Circle of Three.
Wonderful Book Bashed for Silly Reasons.......2001-12-04
I really loved this book. I am fourteen, so I am one of those that the book was written for: Teens. (...) This is fiction. (...) Yes, Bethany does invoke the Dark Goddess twice and does a little damage, but in both those times she was being wrongly accused of outrageous stuff. That doesn't justify her actions (...)
(...) This coven is practicing alone without guidance. I don't think they knew exactly what they were doing. (...) This is a great book and I think any teen would enjoy it(...)

Book Description
rom timeless favorites such as Wynken, Blynken and Nod, by Eugene Field, to Lullaby Baxter's nonsensical nighty-night rhyme, there is something special for every child within the pages of this book. Dreamy watercolors in nighttime shades of blue, pink, and gold set the mood while images of stars and moons are rendered with just the right touch of whimsy.
