Book Description

Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.

5 out of 5 stars Pants on fire?.......2007-07-19

Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.

5 out of 5 stars Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09

There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.

For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.

5 out of 5 stars Very Interesting.......2007-03-07

It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.

4 out of 5 stars History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10

Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.

I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.

Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.

Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.

I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.

This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.

4 out of 5 stars Daniel & Valoree.......2005-06-27

I enjoyed this book very much. It is the 4th one of Lynsay's I've
read. I agree with the one reviewer, I thought the story would have thought that Valoree's 'aunt' would have been interesting if she were a prostitute, however, since she wrote her with a small sideline story of her own, it was actually better that way. Lynsay's stories have mystery involved, and the story involving 'Aunt Meg' was the mystery here. I do think Lynsay could expand into the romance/mystery genre if she chose to do so & do very well at it, too.

Nearly every romance written has one of the main characters being
a bit more stubborn than the other main character. In this case, it was definitely Valoree. She was the big holdout in this book.
But, to her credit, her thought processes were amusingly written.
Daniel saw the benefits of their being married long before Valoree ever wised up to it.

The only thing I found a bit odd in the story was that his friend
never recognized 'Aunt Meg'. He had to be told, by his mother,
who "Aunt Meg" really was.

I got a big kick out of Valoree's suitors. Maybe not so much them as the way she went about obtaining them. I also like the way she continued to dress as a pirate, wearing her breeches &
boots under her society dresses, and the way she would scale garden walls whilst wearing these dresses. What a hoot!

4 1/2 stars to Ms. Sands. Will read more of hers again in the future.

2 out of 5 stars I expected a lot more!.......2005-03-03

Maybe I was expecting too much, but I purchased this book after reading all these wonderful reviews, and a hundred pages into it I had only smiled twice and not laughed even once. It was such a let down! The heroine Valoree kept snapping at her servants to keep up appearances (dressing and acting like proper servants) when she didn't make any effort on HER part to be a lady; in fact, she used all her efforts to rebel. Now is this this fair? It seems a bit hypocritical to me and did not raise my respect for the heroine.
The "prostitute" aunt Meg turns out not to be a prostitute at all nor a drunk (and so much more humor could have been brought in if she had really acted like a drunken prostitute, but as it is the character brought little or no humor to the story). Additionally, her totally unbelievable past painted her as a blindly trusting, mindless idiot who does not fight for anything she wants, so I had no respect for her either. After all she'd been through and all she'd survived, you'd think she'd be a little stronger, but it's as if her mental growth stagnated at 16 years old. No development at all.
Moreover, in the beginning Valoree is driven by revenge against the Spaniard who killed her brother, and when he is finally brought into the story in person (in the last chapter, after the main plot has been played out, as if Ms. Sands just threw it in to close off that loose end), HER HUSBAND kills him! Valoree simply stares at her brother's murderer in shock, as if unable to make the connection quick enough (and her intelligence is praised several times during the course of the book) or react quick enough (and this is a woman who has lived five years of her life as a pirate, seeking revenge and in daily risk of her life???). Perhaps we are suppose to assume she has become a true gentlewoman and reacts as a lady should, that is, simply freezing up and waiting for a man to act. If you like this kind of character regression, then by all means, this is the book for you.
The entire story was just one disappointment after the other, and only one chuckle out of the whole five wasted hours of my life. I am only writing this review in hopes of preventing others from making the same mistake. Perhaps the other people who read this book are diehard fans of Lynsay Sands and are looking at the book through rose-colored glasses, but as a totally objective reader I cannot recommend this book to anyone for the plot, the characters or the humor. They are all, in my opinion (which obviously is not the common one), less than mediocre.

5 out of 5 stars One Sexy Pirate.......2004-08-14

My first book by L. Sands and I loved it! I didn't want to put it down. The characters were great. This story is written with humor, sex, excitement and some danger. It is very easy to read. I was hooked when I had my first laugh on about the second page. I highly recommend this story. If you like pirate stories you need to read this one. I will read more of her books.

5 out of 5 stars The Lady buckles swashes.......2003-03-07

I got this book from a friend of mine who totally loves it, so I figured I'd read it to see if I like... Usually I'm not a heavy romance reader, but stick with fiction and thrillers. But boy am I glad I read this one!!!
It's hysterical! I don't know how many times I laughed out loud reading this book nor how many thought of me as nuts when I did so at home, on the bus... I simply had to take it everywhere with me, only to find out what would happen next.

You have a 24 years old woman, Valoree, born a lady, who has been dressing up as a boy and managed to fool her crew as the captain of a pirate ship, mainly to get revenge for her brother's death. When she goes to claim her heir, Ainsley Castle, with a drunken as her aunt and the pirates as servent and dressed up as a lady herself, she's told that in order to inherit she needs to be married to a nobleman and with child before turning 25. With little time to solve the task, her crew decides to help her find a man to marry. But Valoree is one stubborn lady...

It's always something happening to make you laugh, and at the same time curious about what will happen next. Once I'd finished this one, I had to start on another one of hers, which I also loved. Hopefully I'll get to read yet another one soon!!
I highly recommend this one to anyone looking for a good book. Lynsay is a brilliant writer!!

5 out of 5 stars A Lady Pirate.......2007-08-27

A lively, brisk and detailed narrative. Anne Bonny is a little known pirate overshadowed by the "big names". The book is well written with great detail for this period of time. Especially, loved the scintillating sex scenes - satisfying- yet done in good taste. I look forward to more books from Mr. Hoyt.

5 out of 5 stars Couldn't put it down.......2007-08-12

Wonderful plot driven adventure. The kind of story you look forward all day to getting back to. Lively characters, lively lives. Anne is a strong woman, indomitable, an inspiration to down-trodden women.

1 out of 5 stars anne.......2006-12-28

Big dissapointment. This book is purely fiction and was not even researched for facts. Sloppy. And the writer is not able to give real personalities to his characters, they were drab and boring, not something that anne bonny ever was.

The hero is a liar and is judgemental and a hypocrite and the heroine is cruel and uncompromising. I was really looking forward to this book because I LOVE Pirate books especailly when the women are strong sword weilding characters but this book kinda fell flat to me.

I really liked Gray. He was gorgeous and truly a gallant knight. I loved the way he wrote her love letters and sent her gifts. I loved his heart. He was wonderful. The story was exciting, too and the ending was all a romatic heart could hope for.

5 out of 5 stars Who Doesn't Love a Good Pirate Story?.......2007-02-02

I really loved Port Royal, so I couldn't wait to get The Pirate and His Lady. The pacing was really intense, but the love story is so beautiful. The last chapter is worth reading the book for!

5 out of 5 stars Great sequel, and very intense!.......2007-01-08

Though the first book in this series, "Port Royal", is my favorite of the three, the second book is almost as good, and the last few chapters are extremely intense.

Emerald and Baret's story continues, and at last, the time has come for Baret to confront his feelings for Emerald. The love story here will take your breath away, and the misunderstandings between Emerald and Baret in the last fourth of the novel will make you want to throw the book across the room!

Though the third novel is slightly disappointing (in terms of how brief it is compared to the other two), this is a great series, and one of Linda Chaikin's best.

5 out of 5 stars The Pirate And His Lady is Amazing!.......2003-05-13

Emerald Harwick finds herself in danger on the high seas. In the midst of war on the Jamaican seas, she finds her Christian Faith and loyalty are tested to the limit. Pirates, Buccaneers and Rulers of the world are beautifully intertwined in this story of danger, love, and the search for truth.
There are few good, Christian authors around, But Linda Chaikin would be one of those few. This book was simply heartstopping! i cried, i laughed, and even got frustrated!
But in the end, it leaves you so happy you feel you could cry. That's how a book should leave you. She tells it like you're actually there, watching the story play before your eyes.

5 out of 5 stars this is totaly wonderful.......2002-12-12

this book was absolutley perfrect! I cannot add much more within 1000 word than what Lindsay of AU. said! good job! Linda Chaikin and you! All I can say is all of Linda Chaikins' books have inspired me compleatly like her characters, to be more like our LORD!thank you again!I wish I could meet Mrs. Chaikin.

5 out of 5 stars Better Than "TITANIC".......2002-08-14

I picked up this book completely by accident, but ended up buying the other two books in the series I loved it so much! Baret is the best hero I've read about so far, and Emerald is the epitome of grace and the Proverbs 31 woman with her heart being after God's own. Their escapades on the high seas of the Caribbean got my heart going as much, if not more, than James Cameron's TITANIC.
I highly recommend it to anyone wanting an escape, but also a lesson on learning to trust and love... God has a plan for each of us, and Linda Chaikin effortlessly crafts this into all her works. READ THIS! BUY THIS! *****

Okay, this is the first romance novel I ever got my hands on and I have finally found it again! I absolutely loved this book, but now I understand why I am so screwed up and can't find the right guy! I just love it because to me, it is a secret fantasy! I feel awful.

4 out of 5 stars If you like adventures of Pirates you'll love this one!.......2001-12-17

(...) I do agree (...) that the hero was cruel and underserving of Jennifer's love. However the author made this story a suspenseful thriller that was hard to put down. This man was a pirate and in my mind acted like a pirate. Jennifer brought out the best in him with her love and compassion. Given Chad's background - how he was rejected as a child by a father he loved reminds me of teenagers now who run and end up on the streets having to survive and learning undersirable traits. The good news is the heroin turns his life around and how she does that leads to an interesting, suspenseful story, that unfolds secrets after secrets about the chracters past and present. If you are into books about pirates, you'll love this one.

1 out of 5 stars Hero is a tyrant!!!.......1999-10-03

I despised this man. The supposedly hero, Chad, was anything other than sensual, romantic, heroic, and just plain likeable. I first became disgusted with this character when he told of his killing a young captured Spanish girl's father for trying to defend her honor. He literally 'ran the man through' and then dragged the young girl downstairs to sexually assault her. When she refused his amorous advances and attacked him with a knife and escaped, he bragged of being given her earrings after her death at the hands of his loyal sailors. This man was a brooding monster whom had a grudge against the entire world. And his abuse of the heroine was totally unacceptable; placing her in a prison hole in the ground for days with only the barest minimum to eat or drink and nothing to shelter her from the heat or cold for nearly a week.

If you are attracted to abusive men, you'll love this book, however, I found it hard to consider a romance!

5 out of 5 stars Pirates Anti-Defamation Union Local 4057.......2004-03-31

This really is a very silly book. It's full of modern colloquialisms and sentiments. We're supposed to discover that pirates aren't the blackguards they're reputed to be, and in fact pirate is equal to liberation from a constrictive society. But on the other hand, all of these ideas result in a novel which is wonderfully creative and more than a step above most historical romances.

And I didn't even like the romantic protagonists all that much! Marques was a cookie cutter and Isabella was two stars left of looney. However, at least she's refreshing and different. She drifts off into her own thoughts and imagination. The notion of Marques being a "knight" in his own fashion is also inspired.

For anyone who's jaded about historical romances and feel like they've read the same tripe over and over again, give this one a try. It's an amusing breath of fresh air. (...)

4 out of 5 stars equal parts adventure and romance.......2001-04-02

I came to this book after reading her previous two and I was not disappointed. Ms. Doyle appears to be carving out a niche mixing adventure and romance in historial settings, and she brings a much-needed sense of humor to the genre. The characterization in her books is much better than in most romances I've read, which is a bonus. The book is well-researched and most entertaining....

5 out of 5 stars deliciously scandalous ..............2001-03-15

The unusually high level of sensuality in this book even by the standards of a romance novel, combined with the author's delightfully irreverent interpretation of pirate history make this one of the more exciting reads in pirate fiction. The campy style of writing may get out of hand for short periods of time, but neither does it allow for a dull moment, while the romance itself is haunting in its in-depth exploration of the relationship between romantic ideals and committed love. Enjoyable to the point that it feels like a sin to read, this book is a must for any outlaw at heart.

2 out of 5 stars Not exactly "historical" except in setting.......2001-03-12

In my opinion, there are FAR too many blatant "slang" phrases that are 20th Century in origin. These phrases detract from the story line. Oh, right, story line...There IS one, but it's rather weak, with gaps and things "sorta left out" and odd stuff thrown in. It wasn't a story that I was able to lose myself into because of the problems. There is "teasing" thrown in that should not be there in very serious spots of the novel. If you are looking for historical, try another book. This one is only "historical" because of the pirate ship setting. I will never be reading anything by this author again, I was very, very, very disappointed by the amature attempt at writing a historical romance.
