A Frothy Deluxe Dee-lite!.......2006-12-27
This was written when travel was glamorous and these two certainly made the rounds! I was journalling before journalling and scrapbooking became the present rage and enjoyed this book because it was done without the present day pre-fabbed gew-gaws. The sisters took their mother and later the lucky readers through castles and meetings with friends of friends who were high up and taught us how to handle an embarrassing situation of being taken "home" across Paris by a couple who really didn't ant to take them home, Lee did a hilarous entry of her experience at a dance where she danced with a lead-footed man who pointed out his family "all with the same noses!" and Jackie drew herself dancing with a dashing Russian Soldier during the same event. These two had a great approach to life and even their bad days were hilarious adventures. Much is written in French and it delighted my second year French-student daughter then she discovered that she was able to translate for me. After reading this book, you will discover how to have a good time and find the humor in any situation and never leave a sheet of paper or an envelope blank. Jackies' drawings are easy and cute an an inspiration! One of my daughters' teachers borrowed this book from me to show the students that they can make art anywhere about anything!
A Lovely Look Back.......2006-11-12
I own an original copy of this book and it's very special to me. I love that the Bouvier sisters were able to share their experiences through a book like "One Special Summer".
Jackie Style.......2006-11-04
What a refreshing treasure of an illustrated young Jacqueline Bouvier this is as she tours Europe with her sister! This little compilation of sketches and notes denotes an era and a life style, with naivete and flair.
For Jackie Kennedy's fans.......2006-07-31
For those who follow Jackie Kennedy's footsteps since her childhood, it is a fresh, elegant book to complete their collection. For all of us, it gives the taste of our age of innocence.
Send Your Daughters to Europe, by Boat!!!!.......2006-06-26
I bought this book when I was in high school, and after studying the darling illustrations, and reading the story, I soooo longed to travel abroad, particularly by boat; and to mix with all the European dignitaries, socialites, and "Lah De Dahs" from across the pond. Now it's 30 years later, and having traveled quite extensively with my husband I still have that same longing, yet this time for my own daughters! This book and its charming illustrations make you want to send your daughter(s) or sons to Europe and travel amongst the noblesse. However impossible as that may seem to be, the good news is that today, anyone can take the Queen Mary or any number of magnificent ships (QEII available no longer) across the pond and waltz around Europe.
This is a nostalgic peek back into a time long ago; how the well-to-do traveled, socialized, lolly-gagged about, and spent their time, misbehaving and just having an all around good time. It is based on the true summer travel experience of the Bouvier sisters: Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy Onassis and her younger sister Lee Bouvier Radziwill. One became a First Lady of the United States, and the other, a Princess by marriage residing in Europe.
I recommend this darling picture book for anyone with a sense of fantacy and longing for high society adventure and travel.
Book Description
In this extraordinary memoir, world-renowned guitarist Andy Summers provides a revealing and passionate account of a life dedicated to music. From his first guitar at age thirteen and his early days on the English music scene to the ascendancy of his band, the Police, Summers recounts his relationships and encounters with the Big Roll Band, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, the Animals, John Belushi, and others, all the while proving himself a master of telling detail and dramatic anecdote. But, of course, the early work is only part of the story, and Andys account of his role as guitarist for the Police -- a gig that was only confirmed by a chance encounter with drummer Stewart Copeland on a London train -- has been long-awaited by music fans worldwide. The heights of fame that the Police achieved have rarely been duplicated, and the bands triumphs were rivaled only by the personal chaos that such success brought about, an insight never lost on Summers in the telling. Complete with never-before-published photos from Summerss personal collection, One Train Later is a constantly surprising and poignant memoir.

A good read but some errors.......2007-09-12
I enjoyed Andy's book, reading at after seeing the Police live in St. Paul this summer. My favorite part is where he describes the cop-kicking incident in Argentina. My least favorite parts are his diatribes on Ronald Reagan. As a British tax exile now living in the United States he should have a greater appreciation for one of the greatest US Presidents and the one who gave us "Reaganomics," the benefits of which are still with us today. There are a couple of howling inaccuracies in the book - Winnipeg is in Manitoba, not Saskatchewan, and they were not the first band to play Shea Stadium since the Beatles - Grand Funk Railroad played there in 1971. These things did not spoil it for me, however and I consider it to be an excellent, well written book. I continue to be a fan of Andy Summers and his guitar work.
It's much better than you can hope to expect.......2007-09-09
I've just finished this book in frenzy prior to going to see the Police re-united after 23 years playing at Twickenham in London.
I was left feeling that this is indeed a great autobiography and largely a really well written one. Summers manages to tie seamlessly the 3 strands of his life, his childhood in Bournemouth including his teenage years, his adult musical journey in the sixties and finally the Police years.
Summers is very bright and articulate, he has wide interests, in nature, wildlife, photography, and most importantly 60s spiritual esoterica. I never knew that he was really into meditation and zen, and various Eastern philosophies.
He gets across just how much hard work is required to succeed in the music business, you can genuinely sense that no matter how talented you are, you can fail to make it. The famous ones are the ones you end up hearing of, rather than necessarily being the best or most inspired.
His take on the Police years, is really enlightening and well written. I'd always heard that they fought and fought, but it's only when I read this book that I understood how difficult it would have been to be around Sting when he was in ego-crazed monster and sulky uncooperative mode.
I very much enjoyed this book and I really learned a great deal from it, but I have one major criticism of Summers himself (as opposed to the book). He tends to be quite solipsistic and ungenerous towards his fellow journeymen. I never feel that he gives Sting the credit for being such a talented musician and he never once in the book acknowledges what a drummer of genius copeland was. He doesn't adequately describe the privilege of having such a great rhythm section to play along with. With Sting and copeland in your band, the world will fall at your feet. You never get the sense that he shows generosity towards the genuine talent of these two people. It's all mostly about him and his failing marriage [which he writes very movingly and unself-servingly about]. To be clear about what I mean, he does praise the Police 'sound' again and again, but I find he does it in such a way that no credit is given to the other two, except for Sting's songwriting. But Sting is also a great bassist. You don't really get Sting and Copeland flehsed out as real people, it's far too much about Summers and his internal world.
By contrast here is what Copeland says about sting in a recent article in the London Guardian...copeland seems to me by far the most well adjusted one of the three.
"Over the last twenty years," Copeland adds, "people in my company have assumed that what I like to hear is Sting-bashing, so I hear a lot of it, and I'm sure I don't need to tell you what the opinions are. I tell these friends of mine, 'If Sting was here now with a guitar in his hands, you would within moments realise he's the most talented, gifted musician you've ever met - ever.' Because he is."
A must-read for guitarists.......2007-09-06
Even if you're not a big fan of the Police, every guitarist will identify with Summers' descriptions of his musical development, passion and obsession with his instrument. Particularly entertaining are his accounts of friendships with Clapton, Hendrix and other London guitarists on the rise during the '60s. Summers writes very easily and displays a great sense of humor along the way.
Would have given this 5 stars except for an overuse of similes and f-bombs, as well as some completely contrived political remarks (He goes out of his way to bash Reagan and Bush, the connections to the topic being tenuous at best. Okay, we get it, stick to music, Andy.) Otherwise a joy to read.
Andy, Sting and Stewart and the Police.......2007-09-04
I very much enjoyed reading Andy Summers memoir of his life before and during the years of his band the Police. Andy is not only a gifted and fabulous guitarist, but also an excellent photographer and writer. His memoir is extremely well written. He does a wonderful job of explaining his love and appreciation of music. For somebody like myself who knows little or nothing about music, he manages to convey the magic it provides to his very existence. Making good music is his purpose in life. At several key times in his early career, it is his love of making music that keeps him from going off the cliff that has destroyed so many other musicians.
He tells of his early life and his first fascination with popular music, especially jazz as a young boy growing up in a small village in England. There is a definite honesty to his story telling. That's obvious from his discussions of his developing interest in sex and later drugs. Most people would tiptoe lightly around the edges of this kind of frank honesty. Not so with Andy. He doesn't hide his heavy drug use that seemed an unavoidable part of the popular music, especially jazz and rock and roll movements.
That was the one part of the book that definitely repelled me. He describes his first experiences with mind-altering psychedelic chemicals. He gives details of the experience that seem so mind-expanding and colorful that it reminds one of the images conjured up in many of my favorite Beatles songs. As Andy points out, that is where those images came from. Even late in his story, which ends when he was still very young, he is still saying that the incredible work and travel schedule of the Police was so jam-packed that it would have been impossible to accomplish without the help of lots of "rocket fuel." I personally feel that Andy makes taking drugs seem so commonplace and matter-of-fact that I'd prefer my own kids don't read the book until they are old enough to know that not everything associated with Rock and Roll is normal behavior.
Andy hints that what saved him and the rest of the Police band was that they were so interested in their creation of music that it kept them from going completely over the edge like some of the other famous rock musicians and movie stars like his friend John Belushi, who Andy describes hanging with on several different occasions. A couple of those adventure such as sampling "magic mushroom omelets" and then driving all over Bali in a jeep were nearly disastrous, but fortunately no bystanders were killed or injured.
As someone who has seen too many of his friends become drug addicts, commit suicide or OD or who now wander the street with their brilliant Harvard educated minds burned out by LSD acid, I feel that the members of the Police were very lucky that their life style didn't also cause them to crash and burn. I'm delighted for them. I'm delighted with the story Andy tells in the memoir of his youth. It has wonderful descriptions of their difficult climb up the ladder of their craft, of their serious musical talents, and how they were able to work together to force their individual talents to come together to create the musical sound of the Police. They all knew that they had musical talent, but it wasn't until they joined forces that all those right creative elements came together. Since Andy, Sting and Stuart Copeland were all independent-minded as hell, it wasn't easy for them to make the creative compromises needed to reach the top of the rock and world. Andy also discovered that fame and wealth aren't all that great if you lose your soul along the route to that fame. His memoir has a happy surprise ending for that chapter in his life. Overall, it's a very good read.
Quite good.......2007-09-02
This is actually a surprisingly good book. Andy Summers was of course the guitarist of the very very successful new wave act The Police. Actually the tiem in the Police does surprisingly not take over the book Instead He spends quite a tiem recounting his timein various other bands in the 60's and 70's. This mnakes it a very balanced effort. Also he adds some personal photos that are placed throughout the book and which add to the personal feeling of this memoir. The book also recounts his personallife in loving detail which is a distinct plus.Since itr is well written it is a very interesting read and I recommend it without hesitation. Especially to rock fanatics globally since it provides details about more than simply his time with The Police.

Winter Grief, Summer Grace.......2007-01-15
This little book was given to me about 2 months after my husband died 10 years ago. It is tremendously helpful in coming to grips with grief. Although there are some spiritual passages, it is not a religious book. It focuses your thinking, as well as citing some positive things things to do. Over this decade I have given away many, many copies to grieving friends. It is always most welcome and appreciated.
Recommended reading for those in grief.......2007-01-11
A friend gave this book to me shortly after I lost my 21-year-old son in a car accident. This book really helped me realize I am not alone in my grief. The emotions listed in the book were exactly what I was feeling! I couldn't believe an author could capture the essence of my pain like that. The action items were also very helpful. I have since purchased this book for others who are grieving. I would highly recommend this book!
Appropriate for anyone suffering from grief.......2005-08-26
I have sent this book to various people who have lost a loved one and in all cases they were most appreciative. I received this book from my daughter after my husband passed away and read it many, many times as I found consolation in the message.
Source of Comfort.......2003-02-28
This book literally helped me make through many an evening after the death of a loved one. James Millers approach to comparing the seasons to grieving was so accurate. As your going through the Autumn of Grief you wonder if you will make it through to the Summer. You do, and this precious book will help to bring you to that bright Summer. The quotations written from other writers are placed strategically throughout the book and address the particular emotions being felt so beautifully. The emotions of grief can be very intense. This book helps you realize that you are not alone in your feelings, that they are normal. I have kept the original copy given to me; and have purchased several for others who have faced Grief. I can't recommend this book enough. It will be a tremendous assist as you go through this terribly LONELY time.
My Guide through Grief.......2003-02-25
After the death of my husband, I was given this most excellent book. James Miller's experience as a Grief Counselor and Clergyman came through beautifully. I read and re-read the consoling pages. I cried grieving tears with the assurance that someone knew the depths of the tears and the groanings. Each season of grief is beautifully broken down. The book begins in Autumn and walks with you day by day until finally you have arrived at the summer of your grief.
Throughout the entire book, there are quotations from various writers that just seemed to express the turmoil of mind and emotions that grief causes.
I have given this book to many who have lost someone dear to them.
I know it will help so many work through Grief.

High school teacher Rachel Grant believed in her student Johnny Harris's innocence even after he was convicted of murdering his girlfriend. Now, 10 years later, he's out on parole and Rachel has taken him under her wing, even finding a job for him. It isn't long before their relationship changes and Rachel and Johnny become much more intimate. But when another murder occurs and Johnny is the prime suspect, can Rachel prove his innocence before it's too late? Karen Robards defines passion in this story of love and scandal in a small Kentucky town. One Summer is an outstanding novel that readers will turn to again and again.
Book Description
He was pure, unadulterated trouble. Johnny Harris is home again, his too-tight jeans and damn-your-eyes belligerence honed to perfection by a ten-year stretch in federal prison for murder. Now he's out on parole and ready for the job Rachel Grant has promised to help him begin a new life. Unlike the rest of the town, Rachel has always believed in her former student's innocence. But one thing has changed...
The sullenly handsome boy she remembers is still sullen, still handsome...but no longer a boy. And now the small Kentucky town is alive with gossip and whispers of a scandal, as friendship turns to passion and Rachel abandons a lifetime of propriety in the ex-con's arms. Then the killer strikes again. All evidence points to Johnny Harris, but Rachel knows he is innocent. And she knows she is next...as a shattering truth is uncovered and dark passions explode in the relentless summer heat.

Great romance, poor plot........2006-08-24
I would like to submit two different ratings for this book. The murder mystery plot deserves somewhere between a 1 and a 2...leaning towards the 1, but the sizzling romance between Rachel and Johnny deserves a 5 for sure.
Similar to one of the reviewers below, I like to read all of the bad reviews before taking a gamble and purchasing a book, but I have to say that in this case, the criticisms about Johnny and Rachel's relationship didn't seem to match up with my impression of the book.
I think Rachel was a pretty decent character - I didn't adore her and laugh at her antics as I did with Sarah from Dark Torment or Susannah from Nobody's Angel, but I'd say she was a pretty decent protagonist. From some of the comments, I expected her to be a bitchy player juggling two men at the same time, but in context, that was not at all how it seemed to me. Johnny sounded pretty sexy and although I usually skim Robards' sex scenes, I loved the ones in this book. V. hot and heavy!
I think that the mystery was at best, weak and at worst, stupidly concocted. It just kind of popped up at you randomly and the ending really was kind of...stupid, I guess is the word for it. Random. I didn't really close the book with stars in my eyes the way I did for a few of her other books. I wish Robards had just concentrated on the romance instead of trying to throw a murder mystery into the mix. It just did not work and it rather insulted the reader's intelligence. It was hackneyed and relied on a lot of Deus Ex Machina. V. disappointing, but the romance is what I read it for, and that sure paid off!
Johnny's pain seemed so realistic and Rachel's feelings of consternation about their relationship were justified and also realistically dealt with. I believe that there IS a good progression showing how their physical relationship progressed to a more emotional and mental one. In fact, I think that it is definitely justifiable given that they did know and were once attracted to one another, years ago.
Anyways, I'd say the book is worth it for the romance, but yawningly dull during the mystery parts. Buy it on sale.
Wonderful book.......2006-08-01
I heard that this was one of Karen Robards best books and it was wonderful. I just loved Rachel and Johnny.
Johnny has been in love with 'teacher' since he was 16 or 17 and he has been fantasizing about her for the last 14 years, every night! She is the only one he can really count on and her support of him is heartwarming. In return, he will do anything for her. They share a deep passion and a devotion to each other that other books rarely achieve. Yes, Rachel is 5 years older than Johnny, but I think that it actually works here, and he pursued her, not the other way around.
As far as the murder mystery, I guessed the true culprit right away. The paranormal aspect was a little weird and would have been more believable if the motive had been inspired by mental illness.
Absolutely wonderful!.......2006-07-07
I absolutely LOVE this book!!! I just read it for the 2nd time today and loved it just as much as the first time. Cover to cover, I just enjoyed every element of the book. I will admit, though, that's it's probably not for everyone. I know some really dislike romance stories where the woman is older than the guy, and I know some wouldn't like how crude and abrasive Johnny is for over half the book. Plus there's a small paranormal element to the story that some would hate. But if you don't mind all that, it's a fantastic story.
The chemistry between Johnny and Rachel is wonderful. They originally connected when he was in high school, enjoying talking about books, poetry, politics, and whatever else together. Johnny had the hots for her, but their relationship then was completely platonic. It builds a nice base for the present tense of the story. Then when the meet again, they just can't stay away from each other no matter how different they are. Rachel is a prim and proper teacher, and Johnny is the quintessential bad boy. If there's one complaint I have about their romance, it's that you don't get a clear understanding of the progression of Johnny's feelings. He admits from the start that he's "hot" for her, but Robards doesn't really give you the how or the why those feelings progressed to him being in love with her. I would have liked to know that.
As for the plot. Interesting storyline, even if at it's base it's a tad predictable. It was pretty easy to guess that with Johnny back in town, another woman would die to try to make him look guilty. But Robards does a great job creating twists and turns to make the storyline unique and interesting. I never would have guessed the identity of the attacker or the reasons behind it all, though it all made sense...in a twisted, metaphysical sort of way. You have to allow your mind to stretch a bit to accept the reasoning in the plot. And there's a certain surprise element at the end that was a great addition.
Just a fantastic all around story. I love the opposites attract romance and the great suspense plot. One Summer is one of my all-time favorite books.
Rating: 4.5 / 5
Unrealistic..............2006-06-06
This novel was about a teacher (Rachel Grant) who believed her bad-boy student (Johnny Harris) was wrongly convicted of raping and murdering his girlfriend. After serving 10 years in prison, Rachel is Johnny's only ally. The story revolves around the relationship between these two characters and the mystery surrounding Johnny Harris's innocence. I felt both the romance & suspense aspects of this story were far-fetched.
I enjoy Robard's historical books much more than her contemporaries. With that being said, this novel held my interest, but I wouldn't recommend it to someone who is looking for a knockout.
One of my all time favorites.......2005-12-13
I love most everything i've ever read by Karen Robards, but this is my favorite by her. I've read it twice and may again one day. I just love the characters and i love that she doesn't make such a huge deal out of there age difference cause it's not like their ten years apart or anything. It's only a few years and that just makes it better for the characters involved. Very sweet love story! Definitely read it and you won't be disappointed!
Book Description
The compelling story of a single season in the world's finest amateur baseball league.
Every summer, in ten small towns across Cape Cod, young college baseball players showcase their talents in hopes of making it to the "show." A vicious filter, the league has produced one out of every six major league players, from Nomar Garciaparra and Todd Helton to Jeff Bagwell and Barry Zito.
In this brilliantly crafted narrative, Jim Collins chronicles a season in the life of the Chatham A's, perhaps the most celebrated team in the Cape Cod Baseball League. Set against a seemingly bucolic backdrop--a well-heeled resort town on the bend of the outer Cape--the story charts the changing fortunes of a handful of players, all of whom battle slumps and self-doubt in an effort to impress major league scouts and make the playoffs. Several players go home with career-threatening injuries; one blue-chip prospect fulfills great expectations while another is dubbed "the biggest disappointment on the Cape." A pitcher hides an arm injury while negotiating a minor league contract; another leaves early to tend to his dying father. And nearly all look to the following year's major league draft as a barometer of their worth. Far more than a baseball book, The Last Best League is an engrossing story about dreams fulfilled and dreams destroyed, about Cape Cod and the rites of summer, about coming of age in America.
Customer Reviews:
This IS Baseball.......2007-08-22
Collins gets it. Baseball people have a certain way about them, and Collins obviously is one of them; he also knows how to write about them. This book--an in-depth and endearing look at the 2002 Chatham A's of the Cape Cod Baseball League--shines with the polish of good baseball writing about a great baseball subject. The players and team staff come to life, as does the ebb and flow of a summer on the cape. The poignancy of this moment in time, in these specific lives and in this specific baseball season, got me a little misty-eyed at the end. These are the kinds of dreams everyone should have, at least once in awhile, even when they have to come to an end.
This is such a big part of why I love baseball.
Great Book.......2007-07-27
This is a terrific book for any fan of baseball. The book discusses three main characters in how they came to baseball how they played growing up and in college and then how the fare in the Cape League. I've passed the book on to several others who have loved it as well. A must for any baseball fan.
From College to the Big Leagues.......2006-10-20
This book offers excellent insight into what collegiate players will do to make it to the big leagues. The glimpses of small town fans are also interesting. The reader is exposed to a part of baseball few know much about. Informative and fun to read.
Only complaint - Needed pictures!.......2006-08-24
If you like decent writing and/or, you are a baseball fan, just read it. I thought about the book long after I had finished reading it.
A classic for America's Pastime........2006-07-24
Simply; the finest sports related book I've ever read, and one of the finest non-fiction books I've ever read. An in-depth perspective to the best amatuer baseball league. It is easy to not think of many of today's pro atheletes as real people with their own backgrounds. Their plastered on the screen, and we are only able to relate to them with the stats that they produce and the often poor behavior they exhibit. This book helps break those barriers by telling the story of many individuals on the Chatham A's, the most prolific of the Cape Cod League teams. All the players are interesting, but the most is the Head Coach. Extremely well written, I highly recommend it to anyone.

Book Description
Embarrassed after their night of passion, Jo hopes to never see Kelly Sambino again, especially when friends warn her of Kelly's reputation as a runaround. When fall classes begin, Jo is as surprised as anyone to find Kelly has been hired to teach at the same college. She denies the attraction and refuses to be swayed by Kelly's considerable charm, vowing never to repeat her summer indiscretion. Kelly insists she is not the womanizer others claim. She pursues Jo, breaking down her resistance and professing her love, only to have her reputation come between them again. In a moment of need, Jo turns to Kelly, accepting the physical comfort Kelly offers, while still denying her own heart . . . denying the love that has grown between them.

Cute but Tiresome.......2007-06-12
I have read more lesbian fiction than I care to admit. One Summer Night was certainly not the worst of the bunch, nor was it the best. I am not sorry I read it, nor would I have been sorry I bought it (my girlfriend actually made the purchase).
I found the last 40 or so pages of the book to be tiresome. It was the same old back-and-forth, will they or won't they that every romance novel incorporates to an extent. The trouble was that I feel like Hill ran out of things to say and so she dragged out the ending with the on-again, off-again. It got old. When it came to the actual end of the book, it felt rushed to me.
Still, I found the characters to be enjoyable, the scenarios realistic, and it was a quick, easy read.
Gotta love a Jock!.......2006-07-31
Johanna Marshall finally caves in and goes to watch her friends play in a softball tournament. Her friends have brought in a ringer, which is ringing all of Johanna's bells.
Kelley Sambino knows she's ringing Johanna's bells, but can't seem to get close to her. If it wasn't bad enough Kelley has a reputation of being a womanizer, but as the fall semester starts, she finds herself working in the same department as Johanna at the college.
Pick up the book and walk the hall of a romantic academia.
Boring!.......2006-07-14
Romantic story of how Jo hesitates to get into a relationship with a steamy young woman whose feelings for her are more than Jo can manage. I found the story a little slow and "going around in circles": repetitions of how Jo was hurt by her ex Nancy, how she is lonely, has very few friends, and keeps rejecting a persistent Kelly. Not the best lesbian love story out there.
Clearly Hill's First Effort.......2006-04-17
Johanna was betrayed by her lover three years before this story begins. She has strenously guarded her heart since then - telling herself that she was content, even happy. Then, one summer night, she met and fell for Kelly only to be told that Kelly is a womanizer much like the woman who hurt her so badly.
While the characters in this book both teach college, one is a jock, the other not. How they come together is the theme of this story.
The plotting on this book is thin - paper thin. But the characters, even the secondary characters, are people the reader would like to know. But after a while, you just want to shake Johanna and tell her to get over herself or find a counselor to help her resolve her fears.
Hill has the talent to bring her setting - almost a character in itself - to life for the reader - in her descriptions of the heat of an Austin, Texas summer, you can almost feel the sweat beginning to form on your forehead. She can also bring you to tears in her descriptions of a dying relative.
If you're new to Hill's books, do start with this one - you'll have the enjoyment of watching Hill's talents grow with each new book so that by the time you get to, say, The Killing Room, she will knock your socks off. But regardless of where you start, do not judge this writer by her early books.
Good book!.......2006-03-08
I loved this book for #1:the two women in this book were actual lesbians(there was no I sleep with my bf until I met you, and now I only sleep with chicks) and #2:It was a good romance.I liked the love scenes in this book(all except the one on P.185) and I liked how Jo was afraid to have feelings Kelly but Kelly still stuck by her and didn't leave.

Product Description
Spending quality time with your children, at any age, is one of the great pleasures of parents and grandparents everywhere. Weekends, holidays and family nights out are those special times that everyone reminisces about for a lifetime. And then there is summer--long days at the beach or pool, family vacations, lazy days with family and friends. This all sounds great until you realize there is just too much summer, too much leisure time and too many children hanging around the house complaining they are bored. In this wonderfully creative and thoughtful book, author Ann Kepler helps beleaguered moms and dads fill the long void of summer vacations with enjoyable, entertaining and (dare to mention) educational activities designed to thoroughly engage both children and parents.

Americana at its finest!.......2005-07-27
One Summer: There was nothing unique about the dynamics between the couple or the romance itself, but what made this book so interesting was the setting and storyline. Bryan, a portrait photographer for a glossy magazine, was famous for espressing what lies beneath the surface of her subject's face, eyes, smiles. Shade was a Pulizer-prize winning photojournalist who was famous for presenting the overall drama of a scene. They bring their two different styles together, traveling across the USA, creating a powerful photoessay of summer life in America. I loved the artistic representations vividly described from each of their opposing prospectives of The Last Day Of School, Little League Games, Grandmother and Granddaughter on the Beach, Roadside Reststops, Small Town Carnivals, Kansas Wheatfields, East Coast Clambakes, etc. Awesome!
An Enjoyable Road Trip Across America, Nora Roberts' Style.......2002-04-28
This book is the vastly superior sequel to "Second Nature" and the characters of Lee and Hunter make a brief appearance here. The heroine of "One Summer" is Bryan Mitchell, who was first introduced in "Second Nature" as Lee's best friend. Bryan is a photographer who specializes in portraits of people and memorable faces. She is asked to collaborate on a book called "One Summer in America", and to spend the summer driving from L.A. to N.Y., documenting Americans at work and play. The other photographer contributing to the book is studly Shade Colby, who specializes in gritty, realistic photos. They spend the summer traveling across America, taking pictures and falling in love. I enjoyed their road trip very much.
Excerpt from the back of the book:
"The assignment: a fabulous coast-to-coast photo tour of the USA. The problem: straight-shooting photojournalist Shade Colby didn't believe in unity-he always worked alone. The catch: if he wanted this job, he'd have to spend the summer with Bryan Mitchell, a sexy society photographer who was as great a temptation as the assignment itself!"
