Product Description
Do YOU have a narcissist in your life? Would you recognize one if there was? Do any of these "red flag" behaviors look like anyone you're involved with? 1. Egotistical and controlling. 2. Feels that rules don't apply to them. 3. Is NEVER happy - no matter what you do. 4. Feels more important or entitled than others. 5. Has no clue what empathy or compassion are. 6. May have started out "perfect" but changed drastically along the way. 7. Always blames others for anything that goes wrong. These are just a few of the characteristics often exhibited by those with Narcissistic Personality Disorder. Whether your "partner" has NPD or just narcissistic traits, they can put you on a roller coaster ride that can play havoc with your emotional health and well-being. Anyone can be a malignant narcissist. They can be your spouse, business partner, friend, boss, or parent. The problem is that they can leave you filled with self-doubt, confusion, stress, anxiety, guilt, and depression ... and wondering how you got there in the first place. If you feeling responsible for all that's wrong in your relationship, if you're waiting for "someday" when things will be better, if you feel less-than-equal to your partner, if you feel like you're "walking on eggshells" around this person - then it's time you get the facts on NPD and stop taking blame and feeling lousy for a disorder that is not your own - a disorder rarely talked about and still frequently misunderstood, even by therapists.

She Knows What She Is Talking About.......2006-06-24
The reason this book is so invaluable is because she knows the subject so well. I suppose that is because she had been through it herself - she hasn't just read about it. I have read several articles on NPD, but this book hit closest to home. What I really like is her emphasis on not remaining the VICTIM. Reading her book helps me to reflect on my part - why I allowed it and what steps I can make to change myself so that it NEVER happens again!
Sorry, not well written.......2006-06-21
I looked forward to this book, after reading the other reviews, but found it poorly written and, like many self-help books, too reliant on made up words such as "Victim Boxx." (Why does it have two "x"s? She never tells us...)
There are many stories, or small snippets of stories, from people who have been involved with narcisissists. Although that part was interesting, some of the stories were just too long and bizarre, and all the little snippets were mostly too small to be of interest.
I'm glad so many other readers got something out of this book, but I must say that I was very disappointed. I preferred, "Help, I'm in love with a ..." because I thought it was written more professionally, and spoke more confidently about how to get out of a relationship with an NPD.
If you have been the victim of a narcissist read this book!.......2006-03-17
There are very few good books on personality disorders. Narcissistic personality disorder ruins many lives, yet there is so little written about the subject. If you have been involved with a narcissist, you absolutely must read this book. It is amazing to me that individual narcissists are so very similar to each other! When you read about the experiences of other victims of narcissists you will see that all narcissists are locked into the same pattern. The things you found unbelievable in your own life have happened to many others, and you will be empowered by learning to "know your enemy". The best lesson of this book is that your narcissist does not love you, he does not love your replacement, he does not love anyone. He is only using "love" as a manipulative tool. I hope this book will help you escape with your sanity intact.
If your interested in learning about narcissism then this is a MUST have book!!!.......2005-08-01
I WISH I would have had this book AS SOON as it was published. I just finished the last page this morning. It took me no time to read it and I have to say it was THE BEST book on narcissism I have come accross!! I spent hundreds of dollars on books and none of them compare to this one - God's honest truth!!!
I have bought and read the following books: Help, I'm in Love with a Narcissist, Why Is It Always About You? : Saving Yourself from the Narcissists in Your Life, Lies! Lies!! Lies!!!: The Psychology of Deceit, The Wizard of Oz and Other Narcissists: Coping with the One-Way Relationship in Work, Love, and Family, Emotional Unavailability : Recognizing It, Understanding It, and Avoiding Its Trap, Children of the Self-Absorbed: A Grown-Up's Guide to Getting over Narcissistic Parents, and Emotional Vampires : Dealing With People Who Drain You Dry, just to name a few, BUT this one tops them all. The others were well written, but not nearly as informative as this book was, in my opinion.
Not enough is written on the subject of narcissism and not many people are aware of how manipulative and narcissitic some people (men mostly) can be until it is too late. You find out that the 'perfect love' you thought you had and waited for your entire life (like a night in shinning armor or a prince charming) was just a cruel hoax and what you really fell in love with was a mask that looked real, but was a pathetic lie.
If you are looking for 'answers' to your questions as to why narcissits behave like they do or why you fell for them look no further because this book will answer those questions.
When Your "Perfect Partner" Goes Perfectly Wrong.......2004-10-30
When Your "Perfect Partner" Goes Perfectly Wrong: Loving Or Leaving The Narcissist In Your Life by author, columnist, national speaker Mary Jo Fay clearly lays out the problems and necessities of living with a spouse or life-partner who is exhibits a "Narcissistic Personality Disorder". Here is a self-help guide that teaches the reader to be alert for signs of egotistical and controlling behavior, a partner who can never be happy no matter what you do, and other red flags, as well as what to do to defend oneself from being a pawn in a sex game, caught in a replay of past abuse, surrounded on all sides by a family of narcissists, and coping with narcissists in the workplace or among one's friends as well as romantic partners. The true stories of those who weathered manipulation are sure to reverberate with anyone who has endured similar maltreatment and selfishness.

Book Description
Midwestern librarian Letitia Thornquist didn't have the right stuff to run Thornquist Gear, Inc. That was the bottom-line opinion of Joel Blackstone, the seasoned CEO who had built the small Seattle sporting goods store into an industry giant. But Letty's rich Uncle Charlie willed her the company, and now she was bubbling with enthusiasm to have Joel, a perfect mentor, show her the ropes.
Teaching her the business was all Joel grudgingly planned to do...until the sensuous curves under Letty's navy suit and the unabashed desire in her wide, innocent eyes left him longing for a personal kind of merger. Soon his sizzling kisses convinced her that she wasn't in Kansas anymore. But no matter how skilled Joel was in the art of love, Letty knew she was at risk in his arms. Behind his tough facade she sensed a world of hurt that cried out for her warmth and understanding. She realized the "L" word might never be spoken if trust didn't make them perfect partners 9 to 5...and in the loving after-hours of midnight to dawn.
In a witty, classical duel of romance and ambition, Jayne Ann Krentz deftly portrays two fiery opposites caught by an irresistible attraction...in a deliciously spicy tale of life at the top and love in the depths of the heart.

How many stars?.......2007-08-03
When you read a book and:
1 You can't put it down till you finish it.
2 You see women on par with men.
3 You see respect in both genders.
4 You learn that even in your worst mood you have to listen to other people.
5 You understand that everybody has its own fears.
6 You thought you knew how'll it finish and you were wrong.
The book deserves SIX stars.
LAUGH OUT LOUD.......2007-04-28
Let me say up front that I'm a long time fan of this author. I have read all her Quick books and love them. However with me living in a rather remote part of the world it has been rather hard finding her Krentz titles until I dicovered Amazon. So at this late date I have just finished reading Perfect Partners. I loved the fact that it made me laugh out loud(got a couple of sideways looks from my husband)I was rather sad lately to find Ms Krentz usually sparkling style slightly faded and though she seems to be coming out of this phase nicely (Second Sight, All night long) it made my heart good to read a nice romp like this one.
A Wonderfully Rich Story!.......2006-04-24
"Perfect Partners" is a wonderfully rich story! JAK had me chuckling from start to finish. JAK furthermore has mastered storytelling by keeping the story narrow in scope (ie. tight and lucid), but exploring every aspect of that scope. Here in "Perfect Partners" we have Letty Thornquist, an ex-librarian from Indiana. She has come to Seattle in order to claim her inheritance - Thornquist Gear, a successful corporation (which by the way reminds me of REI) that CEO Joel Blackstone practically created from start to finish. Joel Thornquist is royally pissed about her arrival. Letty's uncle had after all promised to sell Joel the company before his untimely death. Since Joel has proprietary feelings toward Thornquist Gear, he sets out to show Letty who is the boss, but in attempting to do so, falls hard for Letty.
"Perfect Partners" also has a wonderful cast of secondary characters. They include the arrogant and obtuse Professor Phillip Dixon who doesn't take the hint that Letty is over him until he walks in on a deja vu kind of scene; Stephanie Thornquist, a sophisticated and superficially blonde ice-maiden who cracks under the pressure of pregnancy; Arthur Bigley, Letty's harried and socially awkward executive assistant and so on.
This book like so many of JAK's books is a must read. For other excellent JAK books, I recommend: "Wildest Hearts;" "Trust Me," "Family Man," "Grand Passion," "Sweet Fortune," and "Hidden Talents,"
You have to Love JAK's writing style..........2005-06-17
JAK has a unique writing style that I absolutely love! It just seems to me people either love her or hate her! I grab her books wherever I can find them, and they stay on my keeper shelf labeled: "Comfort Books." Her hero's are very "Alpha," and her heroines just hysterical! Joel has built the heroine's Uncle's company from the Ground floor and has arranged to buy him out, but before he can, Uncle Charlie dies and has willed his company to his midwestern librarian niece Letty. She feels this is exactly the sort of change her life needs. Joel's outraged but stuck with Letty who is serious about her new position in the sporting good company. Meanwhile he's in the middle of a revenge plot against an old adversary and doesn't want Letty to stand in the way. They have a bickering attraction to one another in pure JAK style. They do address each other as Mr. Blackstone and Ms. Thornquist occasionally, as another reviewer complained about. It's not that JAK is in the "Dark Ages." It's all part of the humorous struggle between the two. Granted some of these books do date back over ten years. Along the way is Letty's stubborn ex-fiancé who just adds more humor to the tale. This is one of my favorite JAK's. Keep in mind; it's just fun fiction! I'll even admit that I might slap a restraining order on some of her hero's if it were real life.
So you know where my taste lie, it might help further to know that some of my favorite authors are Julie Garwood, Amanda Quick (a.k.a. Jayne Ann Krentz), Gaelen Foley, Lavyrle Spencer, Dorothy Garlock, Linda Howard, Christine Feehan, Sherrilyn Kenyon, Kinley MacGregor, Susan Anderson, Rebecca York, Lauren Bach, Nora Roberts, Kathleen E. Woodiwiss, and Karen Robards. Just to name a few...Hope this is helpful.
*surprise, surprise!*~~.......2004-06-30
Honestly, I dont know why people read Jayne Ann Krentz. It's so predictable. Even more predictable than Sandra Brown, if that's even possible. It's always the naive little heroine and a guy with some big bad secret in his past that he hasnt dealt with.
And that's not all. This is the annoying-est book I've ever read. I mean, come on. the fiance was a great big joke.
I guess this book is okay to read if ure bored and have nothing else to do but it's not that great.

Realistic story with likeable characters.......2000-07-22
This is the first book I've read by Ms. Drogin, but it won't be the last. In fact, her subsequent Zebra Bouquet, The Right Choice, is in my To Be Read stack.
Perfect Partners takes two people, both lawyers, who have each suffered the loss of a sibling and thrusts them together for the good of their little niece. Neither hero nor heroine comes into the arrangement without baggage. In order to help the little girl deal with the loss of her mother and father, her aunt and uncle agree to set aside their differences for her welfare. How they work things out and arrive at the final solution is heart wrenching at times.
The author did a wonderful job of creating two 'real people' leads whom I bonded with immediately. Their interactions with each other, their individual emotonal scars and the healing process involved in getting past them were all well-written.
Although this book is out-of-print, it's well worth the reader's time and effort to find it.
A perfect partnering of plot and characterization!.......1999-06-01
Attorneys Chelsie Russell and Griff Stuart need niece Alix in their lives. Chelsie is determined not to lose her dead sister's little girl, but she fears the emotional loss when her help is no longer needed.
Griff is determined to be the parent Alix needs, but he soon find out he needs Chelsie, too.

Kathee S. Card - Under the Covers Book Reviews.......1999-05-26

A Do-It-Yourself Publishing Job.......2001-09-03
This was a really dreadful book that I had to return. It is poorly written and badly edited. The typography is amateurish. It's too bad, because the authors obviously believe in what they have written but they apparently could not get a reputable publishing house to handle it. A much better book along the same line is "Too Good to Leave; Too Bad to Stay" by Mira Kirshenbaum.

If you expect a book to be as much help as all the advice you get from your friends bundled up into one item, than this is the book for you! It is easy to read yet makes one think for a long time to come. I did find the title misleading at first; the introduction does focus on the other books available by this team of authors, the 16 compatability guideposts, but then it is stock full of practical thoughts. All these little notions you've had are talked about right hear; the book does not leave you wondering but validates your feelings and lets you put your thoughts into action. If you decide to end the relationship, you know why it did not work and how to do better next time. Otherwise, you'll know after reading this book why this person is right for you and can pass it on to your friends!

A Logical and Practical Guide to Love.......2006-02-08
This book is both hopeful and wise. Full of practical, useful, and applicable practices of not only finding love, but learning to love yourself, the author encourages the reader to prepare themselves for love, and in that preparation your love will essentially find you whole and complete. Separated into two sections which focus on the power of thoughts and words and action and faith, the book empowers the reader to take both action and responsibility for love. Full of interactive excerises and approachable writing, this book makes a wonderful gift to yourself if you are waiting for love and to others who are looking for love.
Soulmate Logic.......2006-02-07
I found this book to be very insightful and resourceful with hint of humor which makes the information that much more personal & helpful. I love all of the inspiring quotes thoughout the book, as well as, the positive attitude the authur weaves into each delightful chapter. The self-help exercises are wonderfully theraputic.
A practical-minded handbook especially for single women looking for a lasting relationship.......2006-01-11
Happily married Professor of English Kendall Smith-Sullivan presents Soulmate Logic: How Any Woman Can Find Her Perfect Partner Now, a practical-minded handbook especially for single women looking for a lasting relationship. Written in a down-to-earth, "girlfriend-to-girlfriend" manner, Soulmate Logic is divided into two main sections - the first about the power of thoughts and words to transform oneself and one's life, and the second about means to take action and find the right person with whom to marry raise a family. Much of Soulmate Logic is grounded heavily in common sense - for example, moving in with a man is unlikely to be a step toward marriage, since he has ready access to one without any of the legal or social commitment, and the guy who says he "has a different marriage timeline" is unlikely to be a prospect for the altar; after a certain amount of time together, either he's ready to get married or he isn't, and waiting to see if he changes (people tend to be very stubborn and rarely change much) will mostly likely eat up years of one's life. Activities such as keeping a journal and a few consumable sections encourage the reader to get personally involved in her own plan to find the right lifemate. Highly recommended.
Hot, hot, hot!.......2005-08-06
I couldn't put it down! It was the first book in a long time that made me inspired to take action. After reading this page turner, I felt better about myself and more confident that I would meet someone. Not sure if it's a direct link or a coincidence, but only a few months after reading this book I found myself in a relationship after over a yearlong draught. I wish the same for you.
Kendall's passion and hope comes through in her writing. She's spiritual and devoted to helping others find what she has.
Enjoy!
Customer Reviews:
I Love This Book!!.......2001-04-09
This book is fantastic. It is different from any other astrology book I have read. It explains in a very understandable way how the planetary lineup on your date of birth affects your energy exchange and compatiblity with others. Using the information in this book, I have charted compatibility on ex-boyfriends, ex-husbands, couples I know, family members, co-workers, and so far it has been 100% accurate. I will never again enter into a relationship without referring to this book (it takes about 5 minutes to check a persons compatibility). I continue referring to it and I keep it on my coffee table at all times. This book really changed my life, in that it has proven so accurate that if I meet someone on the internet, I ask them their birthdate and automatically know if it is worth continuing the friendship. The only thing missing in the book is that it does not say anything about people born on a cusp. Otherwise, it is excellent, and I know that this is a book that I will use for the rest of my life.
Customer Reviews:
An oldie but goodie, reminscent of Debbie Macomber's Darling Daughters series! .......2005-08-29
Only 150 pages and easily read in a few hours, this book packs a lot of punch. With its many hilarious moments, I'd almost categorize it as chick-lit rather than a run-of-the-mill romance novel. Family dynamics (mother-daughter between Meg and Lindsey and sister-brother between Steve and Nancy, as well as the friendship between Lindsey and Brenda) give this story additional depth.
Fifteen year old Lindsey decides that her divorced mom has been single and lonely for far too long. Problem is, Meg isn't interested in dating again. With the help of her friend, Lindsey concocts an elaborate plan to change Meg's mind, starting with a diet, exercise and fashion makover. Pretending to be Meg, they place a personal ad and carry on a correspondence with Steve. However, it isn't Steve replying to their letters, it's his meddlesome sister Nancy who is likewise trying to fix him up.
The chemistry is electrifying when Meg and Steve meet, but they are so furious at the way they've been manipulated by their families that they decide to teach them a lesson. Meg pretends to be a trashy woman of ill-repute when she meets Nancy, and Steve pretends to be an ex-con when he meets Lindsey. This all backfires when Meg and Steve fall in love and cannot convince their families that they aren't really the raunchy characters they presented themselves as. Establishing trust and gaining the acceptance of their families is further complicated by some very funny mishaps.
A good read........2002-06-13
I enjoyed this book, I just hated the daughter in this book because she was too much into her mothers business. I can't give this a 5, but a 4 is what I think it is. Good book if you have nothing to do. I recommend it.
