Amazon.com
Modeled after the popular Taggies baby blankets, My First Taggies Book is a soft fleece picture book with eight different looped ribbon tags to rub and pull and chew. The content of the book is very simple: three two-page spreads featuring a plush kitty, bunny, and puppy, along with accompanying rhymes. "Sweet dreams, little kitty,/ Rock-a-bye and nighty night." The point here is not the plot line, but the delightfully cuddly feel of the book and the interactive tags. Designed to be tactile and visually stimulating, each tag has a different print or texture, much like the satin edges of blankets or clothing labels that so intrigue babies and toddlers. A gentle and safe way to introduce the very youngest "readers" to the world of books. (Baby to preschool) --Emilie Coulter

Baby Loves Taggies Book.......2006-11-10
My six-month-old loves her Taggies Book. (She received it when she was four months old.) Now, she likes to hold it and rub the tags. It is perfect size to lay across her lap while she is in her car seat. Very nice.
My son loves those little tags.......2006-11-04
When my son first got the book, he was absolutely fascinated with the tags. He also loves to feel the velvety pictures. And it's also one of the first books I began reading to him.
Perfect for bedtime.......2005-08-25
This is a wonderful book that my nine-month-old has enjoyed since we received it as a gift when he was 2 months old. I don't understand the other reviews that say "it isn't much of a story". "Sweet Dreams", as the title implies, is a bedtime book. And it is perfect for that. Short, simple, engaging but not exciting, it is oh-so-soft and very comforting. My son loves it. He touches each animal ("kitty", "bunny", & "puppy") as we read, and I even stroke his face with the book once at the end as a final soother. It is the second of the two books we read at bedtime, the first being Baby Animals, which is a more active "Tough & Feel" book, but a good transition from active to night-night. I highly recommend Sweet Dreams for anyone looking for a comforting quiet book for bedtime reading with their baby. At nine-months, he seems far from outgrowing it; we will enjoy this book for some time to come.
An update at 13 months: still a wonderful way to go to bed. He can be teething or excited or anything other than sleepy. But when we start this book, he settles right down and gets snuggly and sleepy. After all, kitty, bunny and puppy are asleep in their beds, so it must be a good idea!
A perfect gift for your newest adopted family member.......2005-04-04
I think this is a perfect gift for any baby shower or new addition to your family. Especially for those who are adopting a child International like we did. We wheren't sure how much stimulation our daughter received in her Social Welfare Institute in China and so we brought this colorful book along. The book is a soft flannel and each tag is has a different color and texture and what child doesn't like tags of any sort. If you find this book in the book store or sometimes in a gift shop you can choose the colored tags and textures, for each one is different.
As a reading book, this is not and I am not really sure that's what this book was intended to be. I think this book is for stimulation of your babies sences. Can't say enough about this book and the taggie blanket, you just can't go wrong bringing to a baby shower on as one of the items packed in your already full bag on your way to be united with your daughters and or sons!
Great for babies (under 1).......2005-03-04
I received a taggie blanket at my baby shower and my daughter loves it, so when I saw this book I bought it. She loves it, it as well. I find this works well in the stroller or backback and she likes to chew on all the tabs (tho' mostly the information tag, as it is the biggest). It cleans easily in the wash. It isn't really much of a "story" -- this is mostly a book-shaped toy. But she gives it lots of attention and it is a wonderful distraction for in the car or playpen. My son, who is two years old, thinks the loops are funny and likes to stick his fingers in them, but this is really an item for a baby. I don't imagine a toddler interested in real books would get much out of it.

Sweet and Simple Baby Quilts.......2006-02-23
The book was like new and the information was excellent.
Not just for babies.......2004-02-14
Ms. Hickey has included designs in this book that are very simple and quick to make but produce fabulous quilts for anyone of any age. It all depends on the fabric you choose to work with. Bottom line: Mary's designs make great quilts for babies and kids but with a change in fabric, they also become great gift quilts: stunning to look at but quick to make.
Very novel.......2003-07-05
Ms Hickey has some really interesting ideas of how to showcase novelty fabrics in a baby, or even wall, quilt that are striking
and very pretty. Her directions are good & there are an arrangement of difficult to very easy quilts listed.
The only flaw to the book would be a good source of where or what these novelties are called and could be found. But I guess you could use it just as a starting place and not as an exact duplicate. Really recommended.

It's time for bed, little Sam! But which plush animal friend should he take to bed with him? There's soft furry tiger, fuzzy felt monkey, rough and scratchy crocodile and wrinkly elephant. With charming, colorful illustrations and a variety of textures for little hands to explore, Sweet Dreams, Sam is the perfect introduction to a toddler's tactile world.
Customer Reviews:
A Winner.......2004-07-28
This was our son's first touch and feel book and he loved it--especially the crinkly blue elephant. The simple, colorful drawings in the entire "Sam" series are always winners. As for the reviewer below who talks about the crocodile page--I laughed so hard reading that review that I cried.
Great Book!.......2002-06-20
My 9 month old adores this book. It has really bright colors and the touch and feel pictures are really a nice size so he is immediately drawn to them where other books seem to have a small touch and feel picture. I would definitely buy this book for a friend.
One of my son's all-time favorites.......2002-06-12
This is such a great book. The story is sweet, and the touch and feel part has been a big hit with my son for months....most children's books shouldn't be taken too literally. (Duh!) In THIS book, Sam is debating about what stuffed animal to take to bed with him. But, in the end . . . well, I won't spoil it for you. I cannot imagine anyone NOT liking this Story. It is adorable.
Sweet Story!.......2002-04-22
On his way to bed, Sam the bunny, searches for a friend to help him fall asleep, and says, "With brave, furry Tiger, I won't be afraid of anything." The reader sees a large, orange-FURRY tiger with black stripes, and Sam who is dressed in SOFT, blue pajamas is carrying a teddy bear.
The story continues with Sam climbing on a blue-WRINKLED Elephant's back so he can touch the stars. Then he thinks about an orange-FUZZY Monkey, a yellow-FEATHERED Parrot, and a Crocodile's green-ROUGH back, but in the end decides a hug from Mama is best of all - red-CRIMPED, paper dress.
The illustrations are simply drawn, and brightly colored for a strong visual contrast; in addition, the animals are large, providing ample space for touching and feeling. My only objection to giving "Sweet Dreams, Sam" five stars is due to the taxing prose. When reading to children a rhythmic cadence facilitates better listening, and holds interest for longer periods, i.e. the reason Dr. Seuss's books are classics and nursery rhymes still exist. At any rate, the story is sweet and the "touch-and-feel" effect fascinates children.
Oh, as far as a previous posters comments concerning the crocodile page - I wouldn't want my son to play with Tigers, Elephant's, Monkey's, Parrots, or Crocodiles. The purpose of this book is to spark children's imaginations with creative thought, teach colors, animal recognition, and sooth them to "Sweet Dreams." I am sorry she missed the point. One-year and up.
Great book to get little readers attention.......2002-02-03
My eight month old son loves this book. He enjoys putting his tiny fingers on the furry tiger, shiny elephant, and scratchy crocodile. The pictures are bright and fun and it's a very interactive book for young babies. This is our favorite book to read together.

Maisy is wonderful.......2007-09-20
This is just another great Maisy book. I adore all books. I have read them to my grandkids, but my dear friend in PA and I both have a Maisy admiration society going one. I just ordered this for his birthday and he is in his 40's. I would recommend this for all ages.
ours lights up and we love it!.......2007-08-23
We ordered this book from Amazon.co.uk and had no problems. When you push the last page in the right spot (which I admit wasn't totally obvious the first time) it lights up 2 stars and the crescent moon in Maisy's bedroom window. Our one year old boy loves it and always wants to race to the last page to see them light up.
I was disappointed by the lack of light, too........2006-08-21
Like the other reviewer, I was looking forward to the stars lighting up in this book, and was disappointed to find that feature missing from the book I received. I had to come back to the product page to see if I had misunderstood the description, and now I find that the only mention of the book lighting up is on the cover photo, so disregard that photo. The book is otherwise beautiful, with vivid, gorgeous colors, and I would never have been disappointed had I not had the misunderstanding about the light effect. My daughter loves all things Maisy, so this is a hit with her, and like the other reviewer mentioned, she doesn't know that anything is missing, so she would probably give it five stars.
Sweet books, but where's the Night Light?.......2006-07-19
Maisy watches the sunset and gets ready for bed. It's a very sweet book with pretty sunset backgrounds. However the night light advertised on the front of the cover is missing. We complained to Amazon and they sent a replacement, which also did not have the night light feature. Too bad, I'm sure my kids would've loved a book that lights up! But they don't know it was supposed to have a light and enjoy it anyway. I guess we parents are the only disappointed ones.

Great gift for new parents.......2007-01-31
This small book of pictures and quotations brings smiles and insights. Nice for a baby gift because even new parents can read it quickly and go back to it again later. It is divided into sections focusing on the various things babies teach adults from adventure to wonder. The pictures range from fun to sweet. Some quotations are realistic from parents with a newborn in the house, while others are clearly by parents of grown children.

childhood memories.......2007-09-10
this was my favorite book as a child... i remember scratching the stickers almost to the point that the smell disipated. to find it again was such a treat i not only ordered myself a copy but my new niece as well. by the way the stickers still smell just as i remembered!
Not as great as it used to be..........2007-08-18
The integrity of this book is seriously compromised by the new, non-descript, circular stickers. They actually obscure the illustrations that they cover. It makes me sad that what used to be a childhood favorite is now seems so cheaply made. Also, the scents are faint. If you're buying the book for the story and illustrations it is still fun. But if the scratch-n-sniff aspect is an important component(why wouldn't it be?), you'll probably be disappointed.
My kids love it....I love it for its nostalgic merit!.......2007-07-02
Who didn't love "scratch-and-sniff" books, stickers, etc. when we were growing up? My toddler now enjoys this book as much as I did those books back then. He anxiously awaits the new smells on each page. We've had it a year and the scents are still strong.
Excellent.......2007-05-22
Scratch and sniff has proven to add a great element to bed time stories for my little one. She loves to smell the stickers and it has taught her how to smell other things around the house like flowers and spices. This is a wonderfully illustrated little book that I also had as a child and remember loving! A+
Adorable!!.......2007-05-09
This book is truly adorable. What a cute way to tell what Christmas is all about. My little girl loves this book. I can't wait to get it out for next Christmas!

Tory Lancaster, now a successful young woman, was abandoned as a child. The experience was so painful that she banished it from her memory and only recalls being jostled from foster home to foster home. As an adult she finds solace, love, and passion with Brett Hooker, but is unwilling to commit to a permanent relationship. Brett accepts Tory's appearances and disappearances, but becomes deeply worried when Tory experiences frightening nightmares that she can't recall when she wakes. Unable to sleep peacefully, Tory is desperate to force her unconscious to the surface. When she realizes that the catalyst of her nightmares is a photograph she took of a carny with a tattoo on his face, she leaves Brett and pursues her past and the horrible secrets she has buried.
Customer Reviews:
Story of a Damaged Woman and the Perfect Man Who Loved Her (B+ Grade).......2007-04-01
Sharon Sala can be hit or miss with her books, but with "Sweet Baby", she has a definite winner on her hands. This maybe considered one of her best.
Victoria or Tory as her boyfriend Brett calls her, came home to an empty house when she was seven years old. Her parents were gone and the house was empty of everything. She was so scarred by the experience from going to foster home to foster home, she is more of a shell of a person. She is afraid to love the people in her life. She shuts down. And the fact that she can't imagine her childhood makes it worse.
Brett, her live in boyfriend of 4 years loves her with his full heart and soul. Tory takes advantage of him, in which most men would tell her to hit the road. But Brett knows he is her soul mate. He can't bear to have her out of his life.
Tory starts to have nightmares due to a picture she takes as a photographer. Her memories are starting to overetake her to the point of madness and Brett is the only one who can keep her sane.
This story would be perfect as a television drama and Sala has written two sympathetic characters in Tory and Brett. Some may thinkg Brett is too perfect, but overall he is suitable to counteract Tory.
Tory's emotional journey to find out what happened to her over twenty years ago comes to ahead, but she finally faces her demons and her past.
A wonderful love story and a hero that any woman would want. Both teens and adults can appreciate this story.

A So-So Book With Little Suspense.......2006-08-09
I've enjoyed Sharon Sala's books in the past and made a list of her older books I haven't read. In my searches, I stumbled across SWEET BABY and grabbed it, anxious to begin another journey that only Sala can master. This one, however, was a bit of a disappointment.
SWEET BABY focuses on Tory Lancaster, a photojournalist in her early thirties who struggles with her own demons leftover from her childhood. When she was six years old she came home from school to an empty house. Seems her mother and her mother's boyfriend packed up everything and abandoned Tory. Tory no longer has a memory for anything that happened to her before the age of six, and can't figure out why she cannot commit to a romantic relationship. Brett Hooker, an investigator for the Oklahoma City District Attorney, is madly in love with Tory and is her anchor even though she won't commit to him.
This book is supposed to be a suspense novel but there was very little in the suspense department. There was the side line of someone trying to kill Brett but that was predictable and had little meat to the story. There was the other sideline about Tory's mother, but again it had little meat and was obvious. This is more along the lines of a love story and should be categorized as a romance, not a suspense novel.
The character development was excellent with the two main characters. The reader is given enough information about Tory and her past that intrigues you yet brings you into the fold as Tory tries to uncover the answers she so desperately craves. I really felt for this woman and hoped she'd get the satisfaction she needed. Brett was also well development but in a different way. He was written to be caring and compassionate, but Sala over did it and he came out as almost wimpy. When Tory would pack up and leave to go on a photo shoot, leaving no word about where she was going or if she'd even be back, Brett would patiently wait for her return. Huh? After four years of her coming in and out of his life, you'd think he'd tell her to have a bit more respect for him. Instead he moves from the apartment into a house that he knows she'll love. Either he's got it bad for Tory, or he has no backbone. Sala wants us to believe it's the love angle but it's still a bit unbelievable.
Support characters were either developed or left more to the reader's imagination. Brett's family members were better developed than other cast members. His mother and brother were interesting and I wish more pages had been devoted to the interactions between them, Tory and Brett - it made for some interesting reading.
However, the citizens of Calico Rock, where Tory grew up, were left underdeveloped. When Tory's best friend, Mary Ellen, shows up to rekindle the friendship from twenty-five years ago, we're only given the impression that she giggles a lot and is a redhead. For someone to want to see a friend that has not been a part of her life in twenty-five years there has to be more than a giggling redhead. But we are never given that insight. Other characters are brushed over and soon forgotten.
Overall SWEET BABY is an ok book, nothing great but not too bad either. I'd recommend it only after you've consumed other books on your Must Read list as parts could be frustrating when you want to shake the characters for not clearly seeing the obvious.
Oh no, not another one!.......2005-09-15
It seems lately when I send a review that I've read a different book than everyone else. I found the female lead in this book unsympathetic and the male lead a bit of a wimp.
Torie has been with Brett for four years. The last three, they've been living together in "his" apartment. In Torrie's mind nothing is theirs or even hers. Everything is Brett's. Brett's bed, Brett's chair, Brett's bedroom. Speaks of a lack commitment or permancence on her part.
Torie keeps simply disappearing from Brett's life with no warning and rarely even leaves a note. She never bothers to tell him where she is and he has no way to get hold of her in an emergency. Jeez he could be dead and buried for all she knows. Occasionally, she might send a postcard, letter or leave a message on his answering machine. On very rare occasions he actually gets to speak to her! She`d be gone 6 or 8 weeks, stroll back in, and never tell him where she was, what she was doing or if she'd been with someone else. Or not. Yet Torie makes Brett constantly promise he'll never leave her. She has a problem because of being left in her childhood. Why then would she constantly hurt the man she cares about by doing the same to him? Probably because she knows she can.
Yes, she had horrible, horrible things happen to her in her childhood and they needed to be worked out. But Torie wasn't interested in getting help. If she'd really cared about Brett she would have broken it off with him completely so he'd have a chance with a life with someone who truly cared about him. She even leaves him shortly after he's been shot. She later admits; "I come and go with no regard for your feelings. I act as if I'm the only thing in the world that matters." Ya think?
But in all fairness Brett let her use him. He took whatever she wanted to give him and was her willing doormat. He spent half his time in fear that he'll wake up or come home from work and she'll be gone. Yes, he loved her. But after awhile he was just being a fool. There is a line between loving someone and remaining loyal to them; and allowing a person to walk all over you. And as a twist on the usual "woman apologizing to man for what he's done wrong", Brett apologizes to Torie for what she does wrong.
I just couldn't have much respect for either one of these people and by the end I didn't really care what happened to them.
If only all men could show this much love.......2005-05-24
From the very beginning, you feel sympathy for Tory Lancaster. What it would be like to only be six years old and come home to an empty house and your entire family gone. Luckily twenty five years later she has fallen in love with a man whose only concerns lie with Tory. His love is genuine and although it seems far fetched from reality to meet a man with that much compassion for a woman, romance books are of interest to most women for the mere fact that they want to experience something that they themselves have never witnessed in a man. Brett Hooker is unlike any other man, and you can't help but to wish that some man cared for you with that same amount of passion.
This story is one of those ones that hit you square in the chest. It is not suspenseful in an action packed way, but there is that element of being a low key page-turner. You can not help but get a little choked up while reading this book. It will tug at your heart strings on a couple different levels. It is classified as a romantic suspense, but I would classify it much more as a contemporary romance with a hint of suspense. If you are looking for an action packed suspense with a touch of romance, than this book is not for you. On the other hand, if you would like to read something that will clearly make you feel the power of love than buy this book.
An easy read to take on holiday.......2005-05-23
Not the most exciting book in the world but I enjoyed it all the same, and Sharon Sala is a great prose writer. Some of her characters are little too sugary at times but mostly they are believable.
The plot centres around Tory, real name Victoria who has been shunted from foster home to foster home since the disappearance of her mother when she was barely seven years old.
As hard as she tried Tory is unable to push the past out of her mind and even with a wonderful lover in the form of ruggedly handsome Brett she is emotionally stunted, and distant with a man she so obviously loves.
Forced to confront the past before it tears her apart, Tory must be strong as she searches for the truth about her mother's disappearance, for the past is a dangerous country and some secrets are easier to cope with than others.
Book Description
Children will delight in hearing and imagining all the wonderful sleepy-time images Mimi's mama recites while tucking Mimi in for a night filled with the sweetest of dreams. Delightful verse, real-life photos, and charming illustrations help to make Sweet Dreams, Mimi a bedtime favorite that children will request night after night.
Customer Reviews:
Worst book in our collection.......2007-08-13
Other reviewers seem to like this book, but I can't imagine why. It is too wordy and boring for little ones, and too short for older kids. The illustrations look like they just tried to maximize clutter in Photoshop: "This poem is about snowflakes... we'll paste a snowy tree scene and as many snowflakes as possible on to this page." Mimi and her mom look like possessed construction paper cutouts of monkeys.
In short, there's nothing really imaginative about this book. It's a bedtime book about a mother putting her child to bed. You get unimaginative poems about snowflakes, a carousel, a meadow, puppies, mice, and the night sky.
Read it before you buy it - I'm sure it appeals to someone... after all, it IS Disney. But we are more of a Dr. Seuss and Sandra Boynton crew - kids books should be fun and creative.
A Nice Bedtime Book for Toddlers to Kindergartners - a review of "Sweet Dreams, Mimi".......2007-04-07
We've looked at many of the Baby Einstein books over the years and I think this is my favorite. It's a bedtime book and it's actually nicely done and Ms. Julie is getting very good at selecting the imagery and words used in her poems.
What you find in "Sweet Dreams" is a combination of drawings and pictures. The pictures are of the images conjured by the poetic words; and the drawings are of Mimi and her Mama as they get ready for sleep. It begins:
Each night, after kisses, Mimi asks for sweet dreams...
And Mama whispers
Softly colored pictures
To fill Mimi's head
As she slips into bed
Between sheets cool and smooth...
And then the next two pages show a beautiful photo of snow covered spruces and the words are:
Mama says, "Think of..."
Snowflakes big as cotton balls,
Slipping from winter-white clouds,
Melting like sugar on your tongue,
Snowflakes like little stars
Blanketing the ground."
Each pair of succeeding pages show other sweet pictures, while in the lower right hand corner we see Mimi becoming increasing relaxed until she falls fast asleep.
Four Stars. [B+] Great Read-aloud. Art is either very nice or extremely cute depending on subject. (There is a darling mouse in a little girls shoe in one photo.) My son (newly 5) picked this up at the library and we've been reading it every night.
Cute.......2006-08-18
Cute book and good illustrations. My 9 month old baby likes the bright colors and illustrations.
Not the best!.......2006-06-14
I love Baby Einstein books but this one was not that good, I think there are better "bed time" books out there. Go to a nearest book store, read it first before you buy this.
Absolutely the greatest bedtime book EVER!!.......2005-12-25
I was floored the moment I began reading (to my 18-month old) this wonderful, beautiful book! It was all I could do not to cry as I read it: the book is page after page of wonderful photograpy and poetic, soothing, Heaven-like imagery. This is what children's books should be; this is what marks the Baby Einstein collection a league above all the rest. Take a minute: if you're reading this review, then you also have a minute or two to use the Amazon look-inside-this-book feature--you'll see what I mean immediately; you'll want to steal this book and read it to yourself before you go to sleep!

Customer Reviews:
One of my top children's books.......2007-08-13
This is one of my grandbabies favorites....and I have five. I make certain I buy it for any expectant parents I know. I find myself asking my grandkids, 'Won't you be my Kissaroo?' even when we're not reading the book.
DELIGHTFUL, SWEET BOOK THAT THE KIDS LOVE........2007-05-08
This is an ideal book for mom or dad to read to their little one. The illustrations are great and quite eye catching. The book is entirely about love, love between parent and child and that is a good theme to read about with any child. The text is simple to understand and goes quite well with the illustrations. This is a great bed time story book or setting under a tree book for you and your young ones. Recommend this one highly.
Will result in lots of kisses!!!.......2005-12-02
My 2 year old simply adores this book. The illustrations are glorious, with many different animals in brilliant hues. What makes this book a favorite is that most pages involve a different kind of "kiss" ("A morning kiss is full of sun and wishes for the day to come") and means you can bestow all of these different kisses on your little kissaroo. Basically, it's a GREAT excuse to give multiple kisses to your child (without he/she pulling away), and they're actually returned!
My little kissaroo loves this book.......2005-11-08
This book has so many elements children love: pictures of animals, a birthday party, a birthday cake (my 2-yr-old loves pictures of birthday cakes!), kisses, friends, etc. It tells children about different kinds of kisses (morning kisses, goodbye kisses, etc), and it has cute illustrations to go with it. The cute illustrations have details that my daughter loves to point out and name, and the colors are good. We like this book and recommend it to others.
