Neale Donald Walsch's Conversations with God series has enjoyed boundless success, making his dialogue with God accessible to a worldwide audience of adults. The Little Soul and the Sun distills the essential message of the Conversations with God books and sews it into a story that even children can identify with. Frank Riccio's poignant illustrations are the perfect companion to Walsch's parable of a little soul who discovers that it is "the light" but still wants to know how it "feels" to be the light. This proves to be a problem, as God created nothing else but the light. God's solution, with the help of another soul, is to surround the little soul with darkness, so that it can feel what being the light is like. This deceptively simple tale of self-discovery carries such a profound message that adults as well as children will read it over and over, each time learning a little more about who we really are and why we are here on earth. --Brian Patterson

Spiritual - Little Soul.......2007-09-02
I LOVE THIS BOOK! It may look like it is just a children's book - not so.
This book is especially meant for all of us to read. I have given it to many friends and they all have called to thank me for introducing them to this wonderful book. In addition to being a great book for kids, most adults will find the messages to be very meaningful to them as well. It changed my way of looking at a lot of things and helped to heal some long lasting wounds. I read it at least once a month and am moved to tears every time. I highly recommend this book for kids of all ages ---- especially adults. It will open your mind to the light and change your life forever.
Lovely.......2007-08-14
I am glad i got this book for my little girl and I cant wait until she starts understanding it. She is only 5 months but I couldn't wait. BUY IT, You wont regret!
Good Story and Great Pictures!.......2007-07-06
This is really good book for children as well as those who are reading the conversations with God as I am. The story will help children to realize why some bad things happen and how they can always look for the positives in the bad. I know that I will read this book alot and to my siblings. Some kids might find some things alittle confusing, but I would just keep reading and explaining it to them. The books that Neale has produced can do nothing but help people. I think this book is great and every school should have it. The only problem i have is that the book is kinda pricey. I just bought it for 17 dollars at barnes and noble and on amazon is twelve something, but then theres the shipping cost so then its still around 17. Anyway, it's an awesome book with great pictures.
Seeing Beyond Offense.......2007-06-07
I read this book almost every day for a month. This increased my compassion for myself and others. I started seeing new perspectives on people who seemed bullying or offensive previously--I now see a new part of them that perhaps they have forgotten. And, I see how their "offense" is perfectly orchestrated for my growth! In fact, in one case, it was obvious to me that my "offender" was simply repeating something my own ruthess inner critic had been saying so that I could hear how ludicrous it was and laugh it away!
again- I'd give it 10 STARS!.......2007-03-23
Absolute perfection!
Great book and my 3 year old daughter wants to read it over and over! We also have the CD she can listen to. I believe you can by it on amazon, if not, contact the author himself...its even more powerful and my daughter loves listenning to it on her CD player in the car. Especially long trips!
A MUST to have together with the "Little soul and the Earth- I am somebody!"

Book Description
Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

Calculations are only as good as your numbers.......2007-08-03
Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.
Pants on fire?.......2007-07-19
Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.
Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09
There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.
For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.
Very Interesting.......2007-03-07
It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.
History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10
Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.
I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.
Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.
Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.
I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.
This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.

Customer Reviews:
It isn't called Jesus Christ SUN of God for nothing!.......2007-08-24
This is an eminently readable, well researched piece of work that I would recommend to anyone interested in the "hidden" origins of Christianity.
Fideler goes to great length to show the reader what you might call the evolutionary process that took place over centuries - in terms of spiritual ideas, religious thought, pagan practices, and related symbolism (especially concerning the Sun, the Solar Logos) - eventually culminating in an amalgamation that came to be known as Christianity.
Especially interesting to me was the section dealing with gematria, an ancient form of numerology - although I hesitate to use that term to describe it because gematria is definitely not your grandmother's drugstore paperback numerology. The author presents a detailed examination of how the Biblical tales of the 153 fish in the unbroken net and the feeding of the 5000 people by the magical multiplication of a few fish are actually "encoded" parables containing all the elements required to construct intricate, symbolic patterns of "sacred geometry". The reason I found Fideler's examination of the Greek gematria so fascinating is because I've spent several years exploring the possibility that the English language might also be "encoded" in such a way as to produce synchronistic alphanumeric "equations". For example, in the context of the title of this book, I found a remarkable equation using the simple code of A=1 through Z=26. It is this:
JESUS CHRIST SUN OF GOD = 252 = CHRIST CONSCIOUSNESS
Just as I found this book to be a valuable and insightful addition to my personal area of research, I'm confident that others with interests in any of the concepts that Fideler deals with will find the book just as valuable.
Highly recommended.
An Intelligent Response to Fundamentalist Evangelical Christians.......2007-05-11
This book is a a treasure to anyone interested in Comparative Mythology/Religion. Like "The Jesus Mysteries", it presents historical facts that relate to the shared metaphors of world religious thought over thousands of years. Whereas "The Jesus Mysteries" is a wonderful introductory book for people new to the concepts presented, this work provides in depth considerations more geared to a well educated and/or intellectual reader. I keep buying copies, as I keep giving this book to fascinated friends. It is a fabulous work of scholarship, presented in wonderful ways.
One of the very best books on early Christianity.......2006-05-24
David Fideler, PhD, has written a seminal work on ancient understandings of the cosmos and early Christian symbolism. Delving into sacred geometry, astronomy, and gematria, he explores the ancient world with meticulous scholarship and groundbreaking research and ideas. Replete with extensive diagrams and clear explanations, even for the lay person, this book is a must read for anyone interested in what really was indicated by many myths and parables of antiquity.
An astonishing book - recommended.......2005-03-28
I pick up this book regularly at easter time and re read some of the wisdom of proportion it contains. Selecting chapters and appendices to combine with my current projects and other reading material. Synthesis is the name of my game. This year I have synthesised ancient gematria and divine proportion into a sales seminar.
If you have ever wondered about the origins of christianity and its relationship with the cultures of the mediteranean at the time of its origination. This is the book with the answers.
Missing the Jewish Element.......2003-11-23
This author asserts pagan backgrounds to many Christian concepts and images. But he overlooks the fact that many of these concepts were in Judaism before much of a pagan influence crept in.
It makes more sense to think that most of these came from the Judaism of Jesus, rather than the paganism of the surrounding culture.

Book Description
Picking up where the bestselling and controversial "The Christ Conspiracy" leaves off, "Suns of God" leads the reader through an electrifying exploration of the origin and meaning of the world's religions and popular gods. Over the past several centuries, the Big Three spiritual leaders have been the Lords Christ, Krishna and Buddha, whose stories and teachings are curiously and confoundingly similar to each other. The tale of a miraculously born redeemer who overcomes heroic challenges, teaches ethics and morality, performs marvels and wonders, acquires disciples and is famed far and wide, to be persecuted, killed and reborn, is not unique but a global phenomenon recurring in a wide variety of cultures long before the Christian era.
These numerous godmen were not similar "historical" personages who "walked the earth" but anthropomorphizations of the central focus of the famous "mysteries." A major element of the cryptic, international brotherhood, these mysteries extend back thousands of years and are found worldwide, reflecting an ancient tradition steeped in awe and intrigue. The reasons for this religious development, which has inspired the creation of entire cultures, are unveiled in this in-depth analysis containing fascinating and original research based on evidence both modern and ancient, captivating information kept secret and hidden for ages.
"Suns of God" is possibly the most complete review of the history of religion from its inception ever composed in a single volume.

astounding scholorship.......2007-09-20
Not a book for the easily offended(christians,jews...etc). Very enlightening and VERY well documented view of the history of our "saviours". I recommend it highly to those few critical thinkers left out there.
A siminal and salient work in the study of religious mythology........2007-04-06
Acharya is simply outstanding. This should be required reading for all Christians provided they use their rational mind to objectively evaluate the evidence. Those with the blinders of faith firmly in place should buy and study this book. Since religion can be equated with mental delusion, a person owes themselves the dignity to question the embraced myth. This book will show you the questions to ask and point the way to find the answers. The many scholars of the past who proved beyond a shadow of doubt that the big three Sun Gods are mythological constructions are amply sampled. The quote heavy format and simplified bibliography make SoG a useful tool for those seeking to understand the development of religious legend. This book should be very helpful. Its a strong buy.
Disturbing until Deprogrammed -- Scholarship that Lifts the Veils.......2007-03-27
Acharya has researched a variety of sources to pull together truths that lift the comfortable veil shadowing most of humanity today. At first for people embedded in one of the main world religions, as it was for me, this can be a disturbing read. If one keeps an open mind and is willing to independently see truth, Acharya's books are important towards deprogramming people. The importance of deprogramming oneself is to develop critical thinking skills vital to independent individual thought instead of mass movement or mass thought which overwhelms and substitutes independent observation. Note that: 1984 is only possible when groups organize at the expense of the individual.
We see clearly all around us how the impetus for many wars and manipulations are abusing the good intentions of people who have believed en mass without question the "sacred" books. As one withdraws support from mass manipulations, it becomes clearer that mind control actually is used to tie humanity to needless suffering -- both self-imposed and externally inflicted.
I actually was afraid to write a review for a period since the mind control programming was so strong. People today are still entrained to shun those who are not of their particular belief systems.
If one is willing to leave the shores and explore, a wise life choice, Acharya's books are a good place to begin. It feels like a medicine that tastes bad almost bad enough to kill you, but it is effective. The scholarship is extensive and this book is a bargain. If read with an open mind, this book can be life changing, if you'll let it. If you do, you won't want to go back. You'll find you're beginning to buy your own freedom of choice and can choose life in ways perhaps previously unavailable to you.
At the very least, it's an interesting read. Also consider, the more something is opposed (the more energy that goes into putting something down like these books), the more important it is to understand what's behind the efforts to suppress the information.
Pulls no punches .......2007-02-16
As a former Christian minister, and perhaps more importantly as a former apologist for the faith I would like to comment on this latest book from Acharya S.
First, and what is often hardest for the faithful to accept, is that she is correct in nearly all of her statements concerning the history of organized religions, especially in the west.
Second, and perhaps equally difficult for those who prefer fantasy to reality, is that she is so direct about it. She makes no bones about her belief, or perhaps lack of belief, and although she and I do not agree on every detail- still, Acharya has pretty much outlined, at least for anyone seriously considering a leap off that fence between belief and disbelief, a required text- a primer of common sense if you wish. I have read the reviews and it would seem that you either loved the book- or hated it. There is no way anyone, regardless of how faithful to their religion they might be, can rate this book any less than 4 stars, if for nothing more than the viable research it involved. One major problem that many find with adherents to religion is their black and white- all or nothing approaches to pretty much everything. They are not open to new ideas or new beliefs- they have a vested interest in staying the course. Recently I was asked to be part of a panel formed to investigate the accuracy of some of the Gnostic texts that were voted out of the official Bible. For purposes of historical and social accuracy, many panel members were using the accepted Bible. This I felt was completely wrong headed- as anyone who sees the Bible as the final edict of historical fact is already refusing to accept or acknowledge any other authority, for example the writers Tacitus and Philo of Alexandria. This ties in to the very basis of Acharya's books- the search for and use of other source materials and mythologies that may perhaps better explain the history of western religions. If we remember that the first synod was in Laodicea a part of modern day Greece, where about 363 AD, a group of men came together to decided which books of the dozens of Gospel accounts were to be aloud to be read in churches. Since that time, there have been almost a dozen similar organizations, headed by Bishops, Popes, and Emperors, that have managed to rule out many of the stories about Jesus that conflicted with the idea that some, and certainly not most, of his original followers held of who he was. They have given us the Bible in it's current accepted edition. Had all the original manuscripts been kept, the Bible of today would be an even bigger jumble of contradiction, confusion, and myth. However, having read most of this material, I think it would certainly would have made for a better read.
Finally, as I explained to the committee- the Gospels are not history; they are religious stories and propaganda. They are contradictory, exaggerated, and in many aspects mythical. To many non-Christian historical researchers, those who deal with cold facts, there remains serious doubt that Jesus ever existed as a real person, although I believe he did. Still, it is impossible to prove anything about him apart from he may or may not have been an historical figure and it is more plausible, as Acharya points out in her first book, that Jesus was the result of myth making, a human process that is indeed historically documented.
Finally, let me say to the faithful, I would recommend avoiding this book- it may well become the fly in your ointment of a faith based life. To others, especially those indoctrinated into religion at an early age- perhaps it is time to seek a foundation for your beliefs in a book other than the Bible. Also I especially enjoyed the FOREWORD.
EVEN BETTER THAN HER FIRST BOOK!.......2006-12-12
Pay no attention to the flatliner-fundiots that diss this book without even having read it! These lying snakes-in-the-grass carry on their ideological warfare, "lying for the truth" all over Amazon. They're human dreck sucking filth at the teets of evil!
Now on to Acharya's delightful book! :-D
Starting where her controversial (and bestselling) book The Christ Conspiracy left off, Suns of God guides the reader in an illuminating journey all the way back to the origins of the three greatest World Religions and the Triumvirate of its three deities: Buddha, Krishna, and Christ. Acharya demonstrates that the life stories and teachings of these three Demigods are suspiciously similar. Take for instance the tale of the virgin-born divine Teacher/Savior who overcomes demonic temptations, instructs his followers in sublime morality and ethics, works wonders and miracles, forms a band of followers, and is hailed as a Godsend far and wide. Then this Godman is finally persecuted, put to death, and resurrected. This tale is not unique to Christianity, but occurs many times throughout history, and all over the world, predating by centuries and even millennia the story of Jesus Christ.
The many Demigods or "Godmen" throughout history are not historical figures that just "happen" by coincidence to share the same nature and life story! No, these "Godmen" are all one and the same Mythic being under many names, a Myth that has been central to the so-called "Mystery religions" throughout recorded human history. This dying-and-rising Godman Myth is the focal point of a worldwide fellowship whose Mysteries reach back for many millennia. That is why these Godmen Myths are unbiquitous, and carry such an air of occult mystery. In fact, it is this Godman Myth that is behind the generation of a number of entire cultures! Acharya S explores all this and more as she takes the reader on a fascinating journey to Understanding. She reveals to the reader exactly why this Divine Myth was created, by divulging the secrets of the worldwide effort to illumine humanity through this central Mythical motif that is found all over the world. She also exposes those who wish to derail the purpose of this Myth by changing it's focus to...well, you'll have to read the book to find out!
Suns of God is the best and most comprehensive treatment of the History of Religion that has ever been offered in a single, readable, enjoyable volume. Suns of God is not merely a sequel, but a solid piece of research that stands on its own. I give this book five stars and two thumbs way up!
An excellent five-star companion volume is JEHOVAH UNMASKED which has been endorsed by Acharya S herself! "Rev. Merritt illustrates a powerful personal journey that many people can relate to but may not yet have made themselves. Like our individualized personalities, our conclusions to cosmic conundrums may be different. Nevertheless, JEHOVAH UNMASKED represents another nail in the biblical coffin that contains a mummified and rotten god belonging to the violent barbarians and troglodytes of the Stone Age." -Acharya S.
JEHOVAH UNMASKED is a fascinating look at the real identity of the god Jehovah. Is Jehovah "Almighty God" or just a pretender? Is God a despotic murdering lunatic as the Old Testament depicts, or is that just a pretender god? Did the first Christians believe in God the Mother? What and where is the Kingdom of God? Who told the First Lie in the Garden of Eden, Jehovah or the Serpent? Are you SURE? Who or what was it that gave us the list of New Testament books as we have them now? The answers to these questions will shock, fascinate, inform, and entertain.

Timothy Callahan comes from a large Italian American family that loves big gatherings as well as Grandma Rosie's famous meatball recipe (although he still wishes she'd left out the raisins). But above all else, the Callahans love one another. This may not sound like the makings for high drama or complex fine literature, but that was not what author John Edward was after. As an internationally acclaimed psychic medium, Edward spends most of his days helping survivors work through the seemingly unbearable grief of losing a loved one. As a result, Edward wanted to offer a comforting message about the everlasting love that can bridge even death.
In order to get this message across, Edward presents a story about an endearing and seriously devoted family as they endure the final goodbye to a beloved matriarch. Soon after Timothy discoveries that his mother is dying of cancer, the family gathers to view old family movies. While watching the faces of deceased relatives on the movie screen, he begins to ponder the afterlife.
"As I look over at my mom, I know that she's wondering if all these faces of yesteryear will be the faces of her tomorrows. Will she see them when she crosses over? Will her loved ones welcome her on the other side, as we all want to believe? I hope so."
While his mother's cancer progresses, the narrator flashes back to his childhood when his mother explained that God was the sun, an epiphany that becomes more tangible as he wrestles with impending death. Readers who don't expect haute literature will be touched by this tearjerker story that offers tenderness and comfort. It's also an excellent book to give to those who are open to afterlife discussions and are grieving the loss of a loved one. --Gail Hudson

a WOW book.......2007-09-30
I really enjoyed this book, admittedly as a fervent John Edward fan. Nevertheless, it was very well written and I finished it in one sitting. The ending was priceless and I recommend it for anyone with a heart aching for someone who's passed on.
What if God were the sun.......2007-02-20

I did not receive this product. I was informed that it was out of stock.
I loved this book!!!.......2006-05-19
It's a easy read and is well written. I cried myself silly as I could easily relate to the characters in the book. John Edward has found an amazing way of getting his point across about the other side. I was with my mother when she died and it gave me a little insight as to what it must have been like for her. I highly recommend this book.
Another Great John Edward Book!.......2005-05-11
This is one of those books that you pass on to everyone you know. My copy is still being passed about, and it's been going from person to person for over a year now!
I think it's probably the best "fiction" book I've ever read - I put "fiction" in quotations because I tend to believe that some parts are based on things that actually happened within John's life - how could it not??? But, then again, I tend to think this is true of many books of "fiction".
I hesitate to say too much about the story because I don't want to ruin the ending for those who haven't read it yet. Suffice it to say that it's about a large, loving family that is going through the pain of watching a loved one die. But, please don't get the idea that it's ALL sad - there is plenty of humor scattered throughout. I found myself laughing at parts, and then crying soon after - I'd suggest making sure to have some tissues nearby while reading this book. And, be ready for a surprise ending...
There's much to be gained from reading this book - the most important of which is letting those people you love know it while they are still on this earth - something we should all remember (but it's just so easy to forget).

Book Description
Children take a wondrous tour of our solar system in this stunning new book that weaves mythology and astronomy in magical ways. Jacqueline Mitton's poetic text explores each planet, comparing its features to those of the Roman god or goddess for whom it was named.
Although this naming occurred long before humans had accurate information about the planets, the book points out some remarkable coincidences based on what we know today. The veiled goddess Venus, for example, lends her name to a cloud-veiled planet. And the blue, stormy planet Neptune is named for the god of the sea.
Christina Balit's glorious illustrations, sparkling with gold-foil accents, bring the mythology to life and draw children into the wonders of our planetary kingdom. This intriguing and highly informative booka sequel to the same team's best-selling Zoo in the Skypresents the most up-to-date, scientific details about the planets in an artful way that will stir the minds and imaginations of young readers.

Gods, Planets, Science and Mythology.......2007-09-16
This is an excellent book for NeoPagan parents who want to introduce to their kids some of the foundational concepts of Astrology. It includes both the science and the sacred myth along with spectacular art for each planet in our solar system. It also includes information about the Gods that the planets are named for. Each planet "speaks" biographically, in the first person, in such a way that is reminiscent of the language I've experienced in Wiccan ritual. (Such as "The Charge of the Goddess".) If you lean towards a Roman or Hellenic (Greek) pantheons, this book will be especially relevant to your practice of NeoPaganism. Again, the art is fantastic, with shiny metallic silver and golds mixed in with vibrant colors. The pictures here do not give it justice! I recommend this book for any NeoPagan bookstore's parenting and or children's section. In fact, that's where I bought my copy, at my local Witchy book store!
A truly beautiful gift book.......2001-12-16
Kingdom Of The Sun: A Book Of The Planets a truly exciting picturebook that takes young readers on a cosmic tour through the solar system. Published by the National Geographic Society, Kingdom of the sun is filled with scientific facts about each planet as well as mythological lore about the gods after whom the planets are named. The color illustrations of the ancient gods and their planets against the backdrop of space are particularly striking, and the eye-catching use of shiny gold foil makes Kingdom Of The Sun a picturebook that compels admiration. The last two pages feature a short glossary and a table of facts about the sun, moon, and planets. Wonderfully written by Jacqueline Mitton and superbly illustrated by Christina Balit, Kingdom of the Sun is a truly beautiful gift book, superb for sparking an interest in science and astronomy in young people, and very highly recommended.

ENJOYABLE READ.......2007-08-28
Yes, this book is sad, but it's also very enjoyable. It stays with you long after you've finished reading it.
The New Great Depression.......2005-11-15
For the first time in forever, I didn't thoroughly enjoy something I read. The book was too depressing for words. I mean, I understand that death isn't fun, but other books are written on death and they don't depress me like this one did. John Edward, stick to what you think you know-helping us to connect with our loved ones on the other side!
