This book helped me get through a very difficult time a while back. In the time since, I have occasionally felt the anxiety levels creep back up, and I have come back to this book. It isn't one to be read one time, but is worth reading again and again.
It is easy to have this book recommended to you, or even to have someone give it to you and leave it sitting on your shelf. I did that when I first received it. Don't do that! Read it and see if you can grow and glean from it as so many of us have done. It can really help you move beyond worry to trust, and it builts more than just anxiety-free living. It helps accomplish the opposite -- contentment and acceptance of your lot. If you struggle with worry or discontentment, this is the first book I would recommend. I can't say that enough!

I couldn't imagine Linda writing a book more helpful than Creative Counter part, but this is the proof (for me at least). This book is applicable to the Christian woman no matter what stage of life she is in. I have found it to be encouraging and helpful in my growing relationship with Jesus. Thanks again Linda.
A great book for every woman........2007-09-06
My sister-in-law gave me this book. It's the best gift I've ever been given. I've bought several copies to give to women in my family and friends. The book addresses what peace we can have when we hand our concerns to God and learn to always be content. I wish I'd read this when I was young. It's a book to read several times as a great reminder to hand it all over to God.

I am an avid reader and rate this as one of the best books I've read in a long time. It is well written with inspiring stories from Eastern Europe to add illustrate the point of each chapter. More than just a good writer, Linda brings out the major obstacles to spiritual growth and what to do about each one. Since reading the book a few months ago I have seen changes in my life.

Do not buy this book. If you are curious and want to evaluate it for yourself, borrow it from your local library (ask for it via inter-library loan if your library does not hold a copy).
Girls who have not acknowledged their own healthy sexual desires, who have not thought about their sexual desires in context with their other desires (to date, to connect with other people, to not have sex until marriage, to find and marry a person with similar values, etc.), and who have not pre-conceptualized how they might manage predictable situations will find themselves ill prepared to handle those situations.
"Every Young Woman's Battle: Guarding Your Mind, Heart, and Body in a Sex-Saturated World" does not help prepare or guide the girl who is alone with her boyfriend and finds herself intensely aroused while kissing him. Libido only looses its clarity, not its intensity, when jumbled with the social and cultural complexities of sexuality.
Ethridge and Arterburn do not provide complex and nuanced tools and strategies, which are essential for deeply complex challenges. Hopefully they can do so in their next addition, or perhaps another author will.
In the mean time I think girls and women would be better off reading "Every Young Man's Battle: Strategies for Victory in the Real World of Sexual Temptation" along with "Dilemmas of Desire: Teenage Girls Talk about Sexuality" by Deborah L. Tolman. (Ethridge and Arterburn should read Tolman's book as well.)

If there had been a book like this for me when I was a teenager in the 70's, I could have saved myself many mistakes. The book answers questions every parent wants to answer but may not know how to or have the nerve to, in a way that is straightforward and scripturally based. I suggest parents and daughters read this one together. We read it together in our high school youth group while the boys read it's companion book, "Every Young Man's Battle". It helps everyone understand why they should remain sexually pure until marriage.

This book was real. It touched on the soultion for dealing with constant thoughts of the opposite sex as well as forgiving yourself for your past. Everyone is a new creature when they ask for forgiveness and this book did a great job of reminding us of that. I recommend this book to ALL young preteens, teen age, and young women. Anyone who is interested in EVER dating.

This is a laugh-out funny, insightful book about men...as well as women. Despite the catchy title, this is NOT a book that tells you to play mind games or teaches you how to land a husband. It actually challenges the notion that anyone needs a relationship to feel complete. In addition, it reaffirms what most of us already know---men are turned off by clingy, needy and insecure women---the same qualities that most women find unattractive in men.
The book lists 75 relationship principles as well as practical advice on every day situations, and they do work! The advice on how to handle a relationship that isn't progressing is outstanding. All my guy friends are crying "foul," now that the secret is out.
Bottom line: Get it, read it and enjoy it. You'll get some good laughs out of it, and also several "ah-ha" moments.

This book is an important book for women who worry allot about getting married. It gives a much-needed push out of the `needy' frame of mind into an independent, in control woman. This not only frees you from obsessing about success with men but it also ends up making you more attractive to men.
One thing I really like about this book is that it is in point form (called principles), with insights into the psychological aspects of men, women and relationships. This is followed by examples which illustrate the points clearly.
To give an idea of the kind of IMPORTANT principles you will learn I have taken a couple of good ones from the book which reveal how different this book is from others on the same topic of `how to get a man'.
Take the following principle as an example, "Men are intrigued by anything they do not completely control". Applying this insight means you maintain your independence including keeping yourself occupied with friends and activities. This will make a man more attracted to you as he has to chase you a bit and you are not too available. This explains the following principle really well, "There's nothing more prized to a man then something he had to wait for, work for, or struggle a little bit to get." It is the challenge that inspires a man. So become a challenge and men will seek you out.
Most important is to SHOW you don't need a man in your life like shown in this principle, "When a man sees you are focused on your own dreams or on elevating yourself, he feels safer marrying you because he doesn't worry about what you'll be trying to take away from him."
Besides these wonderful insights on how to attract the attention of a man there are also insights on how to build your own self-esteem and how to occupy your time without needing a man around. This book helps you from the inside out with tons of tips and advice on how best to date men. This book is definitely worth reading, even if you already have a man in your life.
A man's view.......2007-08-31
Her previous book -Why men love bitches is my favorite and most highly recommended book for women on dealing with men. Keeping us men on our toes. Giving us women that we find challenging, and interesting, and donot take for granted.
Now onto WMMB. Men will test you, just as women test men. These tests serve a purpose. How you respond dictates the nature of the relationship, and whether get respected as the dreamgirl, or treated as a doormat. You teach people how to treat you. Sherry teaches you how to pass these tests.
WMMB entertains, as you might expect from a standup comic. I had to put the book down several times to laugh. Most of her advice is gleaned from many interviews with men, and their experiences with women, and they tell it like it is, what made them decide to marry one person and pass on another. Really, it is our secret playbook. In fact, I got great ideas from this book. So, I recommend this book to men too.
For men, marriage is the biggest financial and emotional decision of our life. If a man makes the wrong decision, and chooses the wrong woman, the financial and emotional consequences are dire.
The right decision, gains him the benefits of an excellent partner and children and opportunities for adventure and bliss, and will inspire and propel him to far greater achievements than would otherwise be possible. Imagine how attractive being independent, emotionally secure, confident, and already fulfilled can make you, and how not being needy or dependent on him for your emotional well being could make you a compelling candidate for marriage.
As you read this book, you will discover the common mistakes women make: the woman on a mission whose biological clock is ticking so loud you can actually hear it, perceiving the man as a vacancy filler, telegraphing commitment interest way too soon, the dreaded talk, the absolutely lethal -where do you see this relationship going question? Sherry's offers solid advice.
What if the guy is not prepared to commit anyway, then you have the dilemma of losing a relationship or continuing with a guy who won't commit. Many guys will string you along indefinitely, because they can.
The most resourceful advice is starting the conversation which will lead to commitment though it only offers one strategy, even if it is brilliant. You should have a few different approaches to pick from.
I disagree on one thing. I don't think it is a sound strategy to avoid talking about marriage entirely, for a long time, so it won't come up on the relationship radar. If you don't bring it up it may never come up. Before you spend years with a guy wouldn't it be wiser to find out in advance what his attitude is? This could bring the denial: You never said anything about a commitment before. Another shortcoming I feel is it does not offer strategies for testing his true attitude on commitment, and decision making.
Here's one idea. Ask a man how he feels about children. If he doesn't want to have them or like them, what does that mean? You have learned much from an indirect question.
Other books I recommend are: Dr Phil's Love Smart:Find the one you want, fix the one you got has excellent advice, on getting the commitment,and the 80/20 rule. The Secret Psychology of how we fall in love by Dr Paul Dobransky has excellent advice on testing a man to see if he is commitment material, also on finding the right kind of man, using the women from Sex and the City as the four female archetypes, the queen, warrior, magician and lover to determine both your personality types. There is also a personality test you can take at KWML.com.

The principles are true! My boyfriend has helped me become a stronger and more independent woman. And he loves me more for the person that I have become.

Wow! I read this book in one sitting. I think both stories are real hot reads. I likes Lora Leigh's story the best. I've read alot of her books and she didn't dissapoint. It was well worth the price.

It kicks off with "Sins of the Father", one of my first stories by the legendary Queen of Steam, Jaid Black. Candy Morgan's family company was in trouble. Her father no longer alive to run things, Candy has been in charge, unaware that her father's former protege has been waiting in the wings, ready to take over at the first sign of weakness. James Douglas Mahoney III is ready to take out his revenge, and taking over Morgan Chemicals is just a small part of his plan. His real goal is to take over Candy, the prize that had been dangled before him years ago. This time he's not wearing rose-colored glasses - he knows exactly what he wants and he plans to get it. Unaware of Candy's innocence to his firing, or of her longtime crush on him, JD has specific ideas of Candy's new role in the company, and they involve fulfilling every fantasy he's ever had about her. Very exciting and erotic, "Sins" touches on some forbidden fantasies many women may have about being kidnapped or submission. I think the story focuses more on a woman's pleasure and not about humiliation as JD always is gentle and caring in his treatment of Candy. Definitely a must-read for fans of Jaid Black.
"Surrender" by Lora Leigh kicks off her Bound Hearts series, and was my first by her. Cole has always made Tess nervous, but she can't deny how much she wants him. But rumors of his lifestyle have kept her away from him. Now her father wants her home, so she comes back for a visit, aware that Cole will be there, but is convinced she can resist temptation. But Cole is not taking "no" for an answer this time. He wants her badly, and will have her no matter what it takes. Cole believes there is a certain special bond that exists between him and Tess, one that includes bringing another man into their bedroom to bring her the ultimate fulfillment. Not just any man - his best friend Jesse. Cole loves Tess and only wants to make her happy, to give her more pleasure than she ever dreamed. But Tess feels her desires are wrong, dirty. With Cole's love, she learns that as long as they share in this pleasure together, her fantasies are something special between them, and not anything she should be ashamed of. Instead she finds her soul mate, the man who makes her feel alive and happy.
Both stories have very strong sexual fantasies which are not for everyone. But for those who enjoy these types of fantasies, "Ties That Bind" will not disappoint. It's a book I highly recommend.

Okay, these two stories were absolutely erotic and the sex scenes sizzling, BUT....bondage stories can be written without the humiliation aspect. Tittilation without humilating the women would be preferable. I kept thinking that if a guy tried pulling that attitude on me, he would have gotten a knee in the groin, no matter how good the sex was afterward.

Jaid Black's Sins of the Father - Candy & James begin by making a bargain. She marries him (many stipulations in the marriage contract - including absolute obedience) and he doesn't destroy her family's finaces in a business take over. This didn't exactly come out of nowhere. He used to work for her father - deceased - until her father had fired him years ago - for no apparent reason. She agrees mostly because she's wanted him since she was a kid and she figures she'll get out of it eventually - An erotic tale that lets the characters develop.
Lora Leigh's Surrender is the story of Tess and Cole. Tess has been avoiding Cole for awhile after he made a hard pass at one of her father's parties. She was interested but put him off. She is somewhat repressed - living with her very controlling and unhappy mother. She goes to visit her father and ends up spending the week with Cole who is more then willing to fulfill her every desire (including a threesome - which seems to be LLeigh's thing).
Both stories were good. JBlack has a better understanding of how to write short stories but LLiegh's story was also good - though her characters didn't develop as much.
The book all together with both stories is still pretty short and in both stories I wished there was more to them - but enjoyable.

I enjoyed reading both stories, the authors are two of my favorites. You will love this book if you are into some bondage and two guys and one girl thing. If not, than this book is not for you. Although both stories are about sex the characters seem to be able to form a relationship, which somehow turns in to love. Both authors make their characters work for what they want, so that when you are getting toward the end of each story you don't want it to end.

I stumbled upon this book and am so glad I did.
The author has an obvious love and passion for Jesus and a desire to tell others about how to be a godly and virtuous woman. Forget "The Rules" - Read and apply the principals outlined in the book and fall in love with the Savior. In a culture that forces one to immediate gratification, this book will inspire and motivate you to pray for your husband to FIND you ("He who finds a wife finds a good thing") while you are pursuing God's plan for your life. I found this to be a very down to earth book with practical advice. I have begun applying some of Michelle's principles and am finding that they really do work. Recently divorced after 28 years of marriage, I was a little unsure of how to approach dating again. I am now in a new relationship. good ideas...just not great.......2007-07-25
My husband said that he did like the book but it was a little overzealous in that it seems to relate everything to getting more sex from your wife. It kind of got on his nerves that that seemed to be the theme of the book and it seemed repetative. the concepts are good but get overshadowed by this fact. He said most of it was common sense stuff he didnt need a book to figure out.

You don't see that many male self-help books, but this is one of the best! Rather than telling men how to rule their wives or painting wives as inferior beings, these authors give practical advice to husbands in how to love and respect their wives. My favorite phrase, mutual submission, is spoken greatly of in this book as the practice of a truly Christian marriage. Arterburn neither beats the husband down nor patronizes the wife, but speaks as one Christian man to another about how to be a Godly husband.
I was rather surprised to see some women attacking this book as a book that doesn't understand women. I happen to be a woman and I was very pleased with what the book had to say. You have to keep in mind, ladies, these authors are men and no man can completely understand a woman anymore than a woman can completely understand a man. The important thing is that they're trying! Marriage is not about being perfect or reading your spouse's mind, but about sacrifice, love and respect. In fact, I think the Bible stresses submission so much BECAUSE spouses can't completely understand each other. That's what being a Christian and a partner in marriage is really about.
I highly recommend this to any man. By the way, if you lean more towards the complimentarian view of marriage, don't be scared off by my review. This book speaks of mutual submission, but the authors DO believe that the husband is the leader in the home and they give good advice as to how he can be a loving servant-leader. Along with this, there's lots of wonderful advice for loving and respecting your spouse. As far as respect goes, these authors have certainly earned mine! God bless!
A MUST READ!.......2007-05-29
I don't know if it is because I was finally ready to hear or if it was the heart of the writer; but, this book and prayer saved my marriage. A few years ago my wife and I were hanging by a thread after a series of bad things happened in our marriage. After much prayer and tears she bought this book for me and since it was the only glimpse of light that she might stay in our marriage I read it with an open mind and open heart. Again this book and much prayer saved us. There were so many things that I could relate to and there were so many things that I could honestly say that I wish I knew before we got married. My wife and I are currently "happily" married and I owe it in partial to the knowledge I gained from "Every Man's Marriage". Since, reading this book I purchased it for two of my cousins who are currently engaged and for my boss who recently accepted the Lord! His marriage was in the exact same place my marriage had been so after leading him to the Lord I bought him a bible and this book. They are making progress! Again, I can't beging to express how much the principles in here have changed my life and I highly recommend it to any man who is engaged, newlywed or an old dog who can use new knowledge. This is a great handbook for marriage and for truly touching the heart of your spouse.

I am reading this book for the 3rd time. The author's are trying to convey that men need to place their wives needs and desires above their own. I can testify that when I "submit" to my wife's desires, my marriage is at it's best and how awesome it is! She has no problem submitting to my leadership when I become a servant leader. Yes, I do believe that the man is the "head" of the house, not because I am smarter(because I'm not) or better(I am definately not). It's because God says someone has to be in charge and man it's you.
No where does the book say that men are better or above women. Some of the previous reviewers somehow read that into the book. They must have opened the book with their mind already made up and refused to look at things from God's perspective based on the Bible.

So many women complain that men are sex crazed womanizers and basically have doglike behavior. The reason woman say this is because they want to be understood and feel precious in a mans eyes and they think men don't understand and that they do not care. This book is basically telling a man how to make a woman feel like a queen and teach them to understand the heart of a woman. Any woman who denies the fact that the want to be cherished by a man would be denying the very nature of her heart. I am a woman. Also a married woman. Men need understanding before they gain knowledge of things and this book does a great job in giving a man understanding for a woman. The men who take the time out to read this book are saying that they care and want to be the best husband to their woman as possible. Men and woman are very different in the way we are wired. This book has been life changing for me. Elizabeth Gearge inspired me in a way like never before. She prioritzes the things in our lives that matter most. I absolutely believe she aligns with God's word and teaches women how to be the GODLY women we long to be. By breaking down each area of our lives and giving practical, realistic ideas for living each of these areas in a way that glorifies our God, Elizabeth gives truly applicable and easily obtainable thoughts and direction for daily living.

This book is a wonderful resource for putting things in perspective in an increasingly busy world. George has a fabulous system for organizing your daily to-do list: start with ordering your priorities and then schedule them in every day. First is time with God, second is your spouse, third is your children, fourth is your home, fifth is your own personal growth, sixth is your ministries, and seventh is anything else that doesn't fall into those categories (errands, movies, etc.)
Now, I tweaked the system a bit to personalize it for my life. I don't have children, and I schedule TV time in with my husband almost daily because it's something we enjoy. And the realization that the time I spend talking to and uplifting my friends, family members, and church members is actually a ministry-it's something important to me and God-made me realize I am spending quality time on Earth doing a quality job for Heaven. Plus, it's given me the push to make sure I contact people more regularly because it's worth the time.
I've read the other reviews and realize some people think the book is archaic for stating that women are on assignment from God to help their husbands, but according to the Bible we are: we are here to help everyone we know do their best to get to heaven and do the most to further His kingdom. I don't know of a better way than to spend our time serving anyone we can, most especially our husbands.
I have read this book several times now, making notes and lists of tips to take for my own life to improve my servitude. I have felt the change. As a twenty-something, I have given this book to friends from 29 to 64 to help them make the most of organizing their own time to work for God in all facets of life.

If a woman decides to follow Elizabeth George's advice, that will be the last decision she will ever need to make--from then on her husband will have that responsibility. Whatever the husband says, the dutiful wife, truthfully or not, will reply, "Sure," as Elizabeth did when her husband suddenly asked if she wanted to move to Singapore. The author proudly recounts her advice to a young woman (married to a non-believer) who wanted to attend Bible college: "After telling me her heart's longings, I asked her, `Well, Sue, what does your husband say about this?' She quickly answered, `Oh, he doesn't want me to do it.' `Why, Sue,' I exclaimed, `God has spoken!'" In the author's world, men speak for God and women should practice not speaking at all. The author stresses that a wife should never say an unfavorable word about her husband--yet in a section ironically subtitled "Avoiding the negatives," Elizabeth saw no problem with quoting John Wesley's harsh and lengthy criticisms of his wife. This book was given to me by someone who judged the book by the title--if you believe that God expects women to use the minds He gave them, you would be wise not to make the same mistake.

This is the great book for women we have all read so much about, but this edition has been updated and expanded with new insights and practical applications from the original version. Elizabeth George wants women to read and reread this book, carry it along with their Bibles, take it to share with friends, and leave it on their nightstands to refresh and refer to often. A woman after God's own heart wants to truly know Him, love Him, and follow Him. Achieving such a committed relationship, George explains how this will enrich the lives of others.
George offers many wonderful ideas about following what God wants for all of us, praying constantly and consistently, and living the life that God wants us to. George advises women in areas of caring for and raising children, being the wife God intends and offering praise to our husbands, and making a house a home. There is just such an abundance of information shared here that so many women will find insightful. In George's opinion, setting priorities and goals while practicing time management can offer help to those struggling with knowing what is truly most important. When pursuing God is the ultimate goal, all else can fall into place.
I found the section entitled, "The Pursuit of God's Priorities," most intriguing. It is here that George presents her ideas concerning what a wife should be to her husband and children. So many women today find themselves so overbooked with things to do. It is refreshing to see how calm things can be if we keep our priorities in line. George then explains how making a house into a home is beneficial for all family members. To achieve her strength to meet challenges, George explains the importance of spiritual strengthening for a woman. This strength will allow the woman to use herself to minister to others.
Biblically-based, George has done an outstanding job of presenting her ideas in a very readable format. I believe reading this book is time well spent for all women seeking to please God. George presents what has worked well for her and how these changes have had a positive impact upon her life, on her relationship with her family, and in her spiritual journey with God. I highly recommend "A Woman after God's Own Heart" to all women who desire God.

This book is truly a gem. It discusses the Sutras from a heartfelt perspective lacking in most other translations. It will compliment any other reading of the Sutras you have done, and will add a whole other dimension. A must-have for any complete yoga library.

Sutras from a feminine perspective.......2007-04-27
Although most of us view yoga as simply a physical discipline, there is a far more spiritual dimension to it. The entire philosophy of yoga has been contained in Patanjali's Yoga Sutras. Sutra is Sanskrit for "thread" - the sutras are a collection of terse aphorisms threaded together, laying out the whole of yoga.
Translations of these sutras have been done by males over the years and although there are some wonderful books on the subject (Iyengar's "Light On the Yoga Sutras" for one), I have found these books to be rather dry. Well known yoga instructor, Nischala Joy Devi has written an entirely new and feminine perspective on these ancient proverbs. Devi writes in an almost poetic manner and substitutes words that are 'negative' with a more heart centered counterpart. For example, for Aparigraha which is often translated as non-greed, Devi uses "awareness of abundance". This is a very nurturing viewpoint that makes the sutras "friendlier" and more easier to relate to. Meditations and practices are sprinkled throughout to help intergrate the vibe of the sutras into your heart.
She covers books one and two of the sutras and did a brief scan of book three. I am somewhat hopeful that she is intending on covering books three and four (she didn't mention book four at all) in a further volume, but until then, this is enough food for thought for now.

In The Heart of a Woman Maya Angelou leaves California with her son, Guy, to go to New York. There she enters the society and world of black artists and writers. Not since her childhood has she lived in an almost black environment, and she is surprised at the obsession her new friends have with the white world around them. She stays for a while with John and Grace Killens and begins to read her writing at the Harlem Writers Guild. She continues to sing, most notably at the Apollo Theatre in Harlem, but more and more she begins to take part in the struggle of black Americans for their rightful place in the world. She helps organize a benefit cabaret for the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, and then is appointed Martin Luther Kings Northern Coordinator.
Shortly after that, through her friend Abbey Lincoln, she takes one of the lead parts in Genet's The Blacks (it was a remarkable cast, including Godfrey Cambridge, Roscoe Lee Brown, James Earl Jones, Cicely Tyson, Raymond St. Jacques, and Lou Gossett), and even writes music for the production.
In the meantime her personal life has taken a tempestuous turn. She has left the New York bail bondsman she was intending to marry and has fallen in love with a South African freedom fighter named Vusumzi Make, who sweeps her off her feet and eventually takes her to London and then to Cairo, where, as her marriage begins to break up, she becomes the first female editor of the English-language magazine.
The Heart of a Woman is filled with unforgettable vignettes of famous people, from Billie Holiday to Malcolm X, but perhaps most important is the story of Maya Angelou's relationship with her son. Because this book chronicles, finally, the joys and the burdens of a black mother in America and how the son she had cherished so intensely and worked for so devotedly finally grows to be a man.

Another slice of Maya Angleou's memoir, The Heart of a Woman, brings you through her hardships of raising her son Guy in California and continues during her move to New York City, her stint in the Harlem Writers guild, her intimate involvement in the Civil Rights movement, her marriage to South African Freedom Fighter, Vusumzi Make and subsequent move to Egypt, Ghana and ultimate divorce. A book that will speak to men and women on all levels, The Heart of a Woman is truly a phenomenal read.
The Heart of a Woman Laid Bare.......2007-08-06
I have just finished The Heart of a Woman and I could not put it down once I started it. Angelou lays bare for all of her readers her heart, her life and her truth. What an amazing life she has lived. I read some reviews that criticized her for her honesty in regards to whites during the 60s. It was the 60s, racial barriers where still up strong and bared anyone of color from living the lives they so richly deserved, why should she be criticized for this? Would it be better that she lied and said how wonderful life was for blacks in this country during that time? It wasn't and that is the point that she is making in this book. That is the point that she is making as an African American woman, called to the forefront in the battle of discrimination.
I had to look on the cover to see when she wrote this book, it was 1981, how sad that in 26yrs we still see white America carrying the flag of superiority! I am truly glad that Angelou is still walking this earth to see that though the gains for civil rights are slow coming they are coming,regardless of what her criticizers are saying. Because if they are criticizing her for telling it like it was, then there is still a long path to journey to get us beyond the need for civil rights.
If you want to know what the 60's Civil Rights movement & Aparthied in South Africa was about this book will give you an accurate picture of one womans involvement. Two thumbs up for Angelou!

I was born and raised in India on the wrong side of the caste system. I worked hard to become educated and to come to America. Perhaps in the 1960s, America was not as fair as it is now, but it was still better than anywhere else. I find books like this, where people whine about the amount of melanin in their skin, offensive. Angelou comments often about how much she hates white people. This is stupid and it shows how uneducated she still is.
If she had written this in the 1960s, in the throes of it, it might be interesting as a historical piece, but now it just shows how racist she it. I'll bet she hates Asians, too. Even when she was abandoned in Egypt by a man she wrongly called her "husband," (even though they weren't married,) she wouldn't go to the American embassy for help because white people worked there. Every slight in her life, she attributes to white people being racist because she is black.
This book is filled with name-dropping and smug anger.

This book is a must read. I've read it, my husband is reading it and I've bought it for friends. If every person in therapy would read it,their healing time would be cut in 1/2. Combine it with the author's Power of a Praying Wife and Power of a Praying Husband and the divorce rate would be cut in 1/2! Stormy Omartian is a blessing to those of us who didn't grow up in perfect homes, and have not lead perfect lives but want to grow in the Lord and in life! God Bless Her!

In the few days it took me to read this book I feel I am a new person. This is a must read for women and men alike. Don't let the title scare you away men. This is a man and a woman's guide to emotional health. I told my sister I would pass it on to her once I finished it but I think I will buy her one for her to keep as I think it will be very helpful for me to go back to from time to time and re-read many areas.

While I believe there is a time and place to see a shrink, there is also a time and place to get real with yourself and look deep within yourself to find the root of your problems.
In Finding Peace for Your Heart, Stormie shows us how vital a role God plays in our healing, and how important it is for us to be willing to look at the root of our problems. It's truly the first step towards healing and spiritual growth.
I read this book with great intensity, found areas in my life that the Lord wanted me to work on, and finished it feeling truly inspired to lean on God more.

I have read countless books for emotional healing. This is by far the best and probably the only one that needs to be read. Unfortunately, the subtitle of the book may turn men away from reading this book. This book is for everyone! For women AND men. Even for those who have not suffered abuse. We all have low points in our lives. This book will guide you through them.
