exciting thriller .......2007-10-08
The Sisterhood selects Michael "Mick" Lyons as their next target. In Japan over three decades ago, Michael purchased the mother of member Yoko Akia from her parents promising a good life for their offspring in America. Instead he used her as part of his prostitution ring; selling her as an exotic hooker until she became pregnant with his child. The irresponsible hedonistic movie mogul dumped her expecting her to die. That child Yoko survived and as an adult seeks vengeance for her mom.
The Sisters begin their diabolical plot of vengeance by exposing for the world especially his circle the sleazy dealings of Lyons and some of his cronies. As they carry out their scheme, the Sisters know they must be vigilant as the police seem to be closing in on them.
The latest Sisterhood SWEET REVENGE PAYBACK to bring LETHAL JUSTICE to those who have gotten away with crimes against women is an exciting thriller with this time being Yoko's VENDETTA. The story line is action-packed as the fearsome feminists plot to destroy Michael and his VIP male cohorts. The plot, as is the norm in this fun series, seems implausible, but no one will care as everyone will root for Yoko to destroy her biological father.

Always and adventure.......2007-06-27
Loved the finale of this series. Fern Michaels never disappoints. Looking forward to a follow-up series.
awesome series.......2007-06-26
Fern Michales writes a great story. The Sisterhood series is one that I read while in Hawaii, yes all seven of them.
Free Fall.......2007-06-08
Free Fall is the last book of The Revenge of The Sisterhood.
I have enjoyed everyone of them and I'm sorry this one is the
last one.
Once you start reading you cant put the book down until you get to the end.
Free Fall.......2007-06-08
I was very disappointed in this book. Felt like I was reading Nancy Drew. Would never buy this author again.

Author Wilson Rawls spent his boyhood much like the character of this book, Billy Colman, roaming the Ozarks of northeastern Oklahoma with his bluetick hound. A straightforward, shoot-from-the-hip storyteller with a searingly honest voice, Rawls is well-loved for this powerful 1961 classic and the award-winning novel Summer of the Monkeys. In Where the Red Fern Grows, Billy and his precious coonhound pups romp relentlessly through the Ozarks, trying to "tree" the elusive raccoon. In time, the inseparable trio wins the coveted gold cup in the annual coon-hunt contest, captures the wily ghost coon, and bravely fights with a mountain lion. When the victory over the mountain lion turns to tragedy, Billy grieves, but learns the beautiful old Native American legend of the sacred red fern that grows over the graves of his dogs. This unforgettable classic belongs on every child's bookshelf. (Ages 9 and up)

Customer Reviews:
Exciting ending, boring beginning.......2007-10-04
I found the beginning of this book to be quite boring. It felt like the same thing happened in practically every chapter up to about page one hundred. He would hunt, get in danger, and get out of it. Same thing every time. After that, however, it got better. More things happened like him getting in the competition, and the tragic ending. Overall it was a decent book.
Most heartbreaking ending ever........2007-08-16
This book was great until the end. I read it as a kid in the 5th grade and enjoyed the story and the journey of the kid earning money for the dogs and his bond with them.
But, the ending is horrible. You will cry, you will be angry, and you will feel betrayed by this book forever. My husband and I still can't beleive how depressing the end is.
If you must read this stop before the last couple of chapters. Then imagine the dogs living a happy long life by the fireplace.
Where the Red Fern Grows.......2007-08-06
This book is great for anyone who has ever lost a dear pet. This novel explores the adventures of a boy and his dogs; dogs which he remembers well into adulthood. The story is a real tear-jerker.
Where The Red Fern Grows.......2007-07-09
Everyone who has ever had a faithful dog should read Billy's story at least once in his or her lifetime. It's an ageless tale that touches the heart and mind.
Ten-year old Billy lived in the Ozark Mountains with his parents and three younger sisters. The family was extremely poor, as were most of their neighbors at that time, and could only afford the bare necessities of life. Billy's dream of having a pair of coonhounds of his own seemed to be only that until he found a resourceful way to earn the money for himself.
For two long years, Billy trapped and sold animal pelts until he had finally saved enough money to finance his lifelong dream. With his grandfather's help, he ordered two pups and then walked several miles to bring them home. That's when the real adventures began.
If the story is beginning to sound familiar, it should. "Where the Red Fern Grows" by Wilson Rawls is an unforgettable classic that has been enjoyed for generations.
So where does the red fern come into the story? You'll just have to read it for yourself, and don't be surprised if you hear the distant bawling of a couple of dogs who have tree'd a `coon each time you open the book.
It's just Little Ann and Old Dan, for they've never really left these Ozark hills.
Bought it for my son after reading it myself in my younger days........2007-06-08
Maybe only country boys can appreciate it, but I thought it was a simple, yet great story, timeless.

They make their home grounds an island of purity."--Robert Rodale
Customer Reviews:
Very imformative.......2007-09-07
This book was recommended by a friend and it is exceptionally informative and well written. I would recommend it to anyone seeking more info on organic gardening. It has ideas that are cheap to do that work wonderfully!
Organic is not a synonym for boring.......2007-07-23
This book is so bland and boring it is nearly generic. If you are at all excited by the prospect of things organic, don't buy this book. Look for something with juices flowing in the veins or you will find yourself semi-comatose and bored with organic before you begin.
This book could have been more than just a [quite generalized] reference book. It could have been an inspiration. Fortunately it's recyclable.
It's okay, but it's not the original!.......2007-05-15
I was in a used book store recently and compared the old and new versions side-by-side. I bought the old one. The old version has so much great detailed information that the new one lacks.
Don't get me wrong, the new version is "prettier". It's still got some great stuff in it you might not find in some other sources. But, it is more of a treatise or "Cliff's Notes" version--it isn't exhaustive.
Still a great reference for those new to gardening. However, it should have been called "Rodale's All-New Encyclopedia of Organic Gardening: LITE".
Encyclopedia... That's Just What It Is!.......2007-02-07
Rodale always does an excellent job of researching what we gardeners want to know about. And the ALL-NEW ENCYCLOPEDIA of ORGANIC GARDENING is no exception. I refer to it frequently and usually find the information I'm looking for.
A Great Beginner's Reference (with a small "bug" of an error).......2007-01-18
I have repeatedly returned to my copy of this book, usually when I am about to embark on a garden chore and want a refresher course in the hows and whys. The alphabetical topics include "Animal Pests", "Asparagus", "Beneficial Insects", "Cold Frames", "Edible Landscaping", Garlic, "Irrigation", "Pelargoniums", "Trees" and hundreds more, all simple to locate as though you were reading a phone book. Each entry contains an encyclopedia-style summary with an organic method slant. Beginners and intermediate gardeners will find the info provided invaluable, but if you want an in-depth explanation, seek a more expert book.
Other features include a recommended reading list, an index of common plant names paired with their botanical names, and simple line drawings illustrating many of the book's topics.
That said, I was sad to see a mistake in the "tomato" entry as I was reading it just now... the book recommends planting dill near your tomatoes to attract tomato hornworms. Unfortunately, these are not the same species and killing caterpillars found on dill will simply reduce the number of swallowtail butterflies in your garden (tomato hornworms are a type of sphinx/hawk moth.) I advocate planting the dill anyway and leaving the caterpillars alone! The rest of the 5 pages devoted to tomatoes includes an overview on choosing plants or seeds, bed preparation and planting, tomato pruning tips, recommended fertilizers, how to make long-lasting tomato cages, a disease summary, harvesting information, recommended cultivars for organic growers, and tomatoes raised in small spaces.
A nice reference for the gardener who is in a hurry to get outside and plant!

Customer Reviews:
found to be useful.......2007-10-03
this book was well organized in its presentation of problems for each type of plant covered. set in A-Z format of common plant names (though Latin names are used as well), the editors (Barbara Ellis, and Fern Bradley)give several ways to combat garden issues from an organic methodology. most of the ways of working with organics that they outline are not high cost, but are high maintainence as is all organic gardening, if done right.
the book also covers some common insects a gardener would see and if they are beneficial or not and how to work with the beneficials (what to plant to attract, etc) and to control the "bad bugs". they also outline some diseases and how to fight those with organic methods. then they touch on other ways to fight garden pests (cultural, physical, and biological contols). they also talk about different organic dusts and sprays and how to use them effectively.
Organic gardener's bible.......2007-10-02
If you want to garden organically and can only afford to buy one book on insect and disease control -- this is it! I go for this book first whenever I think I have problems in the garden, in the landscape, in the orchard. It's an all around great reference book!
The Organic Gardener's Handbook.......2007-08-25
Excellent Book with lots of informative teaching! Money well spent. Fast and professional delivery! Much appreciated!
The most amazing book about pests and diseases!.......2007-07-21
This is so far the best book about pests and diseases. Easy to read, great ! photos which really help to identify a pest and good structure make this book a winner.
The Organic Gardener's Handbook of Natural Insect and Disease Control.......2007-07-15
Detailed descriptions and photographs combine to make this book essential for every organic (or conscientious) gardener/farmer to own and keep handy. We wish we'd bought it years ago.

SWEET REVENGE (SISTERHOOD).......2007-07-19
I have enjoyed Sweet Revenge. These women and now men have a very special bond
and way to help each other. It was great reading and I could not put it down.
I want to read the next one
Loved it.......2007-07-12
I loved this book, and all the others in the Revenge of the Sisterhood series. I couldn't put them down!!!
Resurrection.......2007-05-24
Number Five of the Sisterhood Series delivers the sweet taste of revenge. "Sweet Revenge" by Fern Michaels keeps the reader come back for the next installment.
Isabelle Flanders' architectual career/life were destroyed when she was blamed for a drunk driving accident which took the lives of three people. Later she realized she was not driving the car and protested to no avail. She seeks out Nicky Quinn for help but the system doesn't work for her, hence her credentials are established for membership in the Sisterhood.
A fun read where nothing is simple but the almost happy endings, which are predictable.
Nash Black, author of "Qualifying Laps."
The Sisterhood is a GREAT series.......2007-05-13
I have so enjoyed the sisterhood, and the revenge that each sought. I agreed with their methods, and am looking forward to the last of the series. I wish I belonged in the "club"!
Sweet Revenge.......2007-05-07
I really enjoyed this novel. The whole 'sisterhood' series is great. It's good to see 'good' prevail, even if it is in a fantasy. And even if it takes 'doing wrong' to correct a right. It was a fun book to read. I could hardly wait to see how it was all pulled together.

Pregnant after 6 years.......2007-01-19
After 3 failed IVFs, countless other procedures (including surgery), a miscarriage, and seeing 4 infertility OBGYNs, all of whom were considered among the top in their field, (and over $35K spent), we were told that the only way we were having a baby was with a donated egg. My husband bought this book, said it was our last hurrah, and followed the basic principles, which he distilled into a group of foods to avoid and foods to eat every day. We followed the diet for five months (it's easier to stick to if you know it's not forever) and I got pregnant in the sixth month. Our son is now 14 months old. My OBGYN calls him the miracle baby. We ate a lot of yams, true, but they were not the wild type, just the regular Safeway ones, and my husband fried them in oil and garlic. I think the best thing about this book is that the author is so positive and upbeat and makes you believe that you can conceive against overwhelming odds, which is the opposite of what all the specialists had been telling us for years.
I did get pregnant after one month!.......2006-05-03
I did not follow the diet strictly, but I simplified the diet by buying Amy's brown rice and tofu bowls which had most of the ingredients she recommended. I ate one of these every day for lunch. I also ate yams, yams and more yams. I got them from the local International grocery in St. Louis. I would think it would be hard to implement this diet if you are not in an urban area. I had been trying to get pregnant for a year before I tried this, and when I tried the diet, I got pregnant within a month. I agree that the diet is confusing, and it was impossible for me to follow strictly. But I did do the best I could and it seemed to work.
This book just makes sense.......2006-01-19
The previous reviewer's comments seem very harsh, and I can only guess she was hoping for a quick fix to her own infertility. How can one blame infertility on a good diet? I think the author makes a very solid connection between diet and infertility and her recommendations are good, but of course, one needs to be ready to implement change. If you are not ready to give up meat, of course you may be put off by her advice as the previous reviewer was. Animal proteins (meat) are not the only, and definitely not the best, source for iron, zinc and calcium. Any quick search on the internet will provide you with a list of alternative sources for these minerals...plus most women who are trying to get pregnant should be taking a prenatal vitamin, which will supplemant their mineral needs. But one should always look to food sources first for their vitamins and minerals as they are most easily absorbed by the body. I for one agree that food has a connection to infertility, plus who wouldn't want to "detox" their bodies to ensure they have a health environment for a growing baby.
Worth a Try.......2005-05-13
I bought this book and went on the diet during my second IVF cycle--after 3 years of trying. I got pregnant for the first time in my life...Unfortunately, I miscarried at 11 weeks, but this was due to Down's Syndrome & my doctors have told me it was not related to my infertility problems (endometriosis) at all.
What I most took to heart was the author's qualification that though the diet has not been proven by traditional scientific trials, the worst that will happen is that you will eat nutritiously while you're on it. I don't know if this diet got me pregnant or if it would have happened anyway, but now that I'm embarking on another IVF, I feel strongly enough about the diet that I am going on it again, just in case it was what made things work for me last time. (BTW, I did not follow the diet strictly after becoming pregnant). I also just ate the yams I found in the supermarket.
Maybe it's one of those mind over matter things. It is an effort, but I just feel like it's worth a try. Who knows?
Best of luck to all out there TTC.
Yams are sweet potatoes.......2005-01-21
Hi - I am interested in purchasing this book, so I have been reading all the comments. I just wanted to let everyone know that yams ARE sweet potatoes. The difference is that "yams" are sweet potatoes that are grown in south Louisiana. Hope this helps out some of you.
Book Description
In a dazzling celebration of the power of friendship and love, acclaimed bestselling author Fern Michaels brings her trademark wit and warmth to an action-packed story featuring a group of diverse women who bond Survivor-style under the most unlikely of circumstances...and find romance along the way.
When Samantha Rainford -- newly wed to Douglas Cosmo Rainford III -- returns home from her honeymoon to find divorce papers waiting, she's shocked and heartbroken. Then she discovers that she's not the first to be abandoned -- she's one of four (or maybe more) ex-Mrs. Rainfords -- and decides it's time to put into practice that old truism: Don't get mad, get even.
With the help of her longtime girlfriend Slick, a glamorous fashion model, Sam gathers together a highly unlikely team: Mrs. Kayla Rainford, an architect who moonlights as an exotic dancer; Mrs. Zoe Rainford, a plumber; and Mrs. Olivia Rainford, a former cheerleader and cartoon artist. Sam and Slick flunked out of FBI training school, but they still learned a few things there -- like how to plan a mission. And the fivesome is determined to do whatever it takes to bring down Douglas Rainford III.
Whatever it takes means attending a top-secret private special-ops training camp in the North Carolina mountains, where Sam meets fiercely disciplined ex-CIA operative Kollar Havapopulas. Six feet three and handsome as a Greek god, "Pappy" is the best at what he does -- transforming civilians into highly skilled fighting teams. What he's less adept at, however, is telling a woman how he feels, and before long he discovers he's developing some very warm feelings for Samantha Rainford -- an attraction that seems fated to be a total disaster. Two personalities as strong as Sam and Pappy are sure to strike sparks, but will the fire that burns between them consume everything in its way?

As Always another Great One.........2007-09-07
I did not want to put this book down. As always - I was captured from the first page. Great Job!
Stupid, Stupid, Stupid!!!.......2007-08-12
Wow, Glad to see I am not the only one who thought this was the most ridiculous book they've wasted their time to read. What woman, much less five, would go willingly to a 'secret location' and commit a year of their lives with a man who breaks into their house (well, Sam's house) in the middle of the night? That's only the first completely implausible plot here. I bought this book and read it because one of my friends loves Fern Michaels. I'm not sure why. This book was stupid, stupid, stupid!!! I'm gonna donate this to my local library as soon as possible so none of my friends even see this deplorable book in my stack of books read or to read.
Very entertaining!.......2007-07-19
I just finished The Marriage Game and totally enjoyed this fun-filled group of women, all the while keeping in mind this was pure fiction and great laugh-out-loud entertainment! I will continue to read Fern Michaels future books!
Oh My God!.......2007-07-17
This was, without a doubt, the most inane, pathetic book I have ever attempted to read. In what I realize, now, was a joke, a friend gave it to me to read while recovering from surgery. Needless to say, I could not finish it. Who reads this trash?
Zero Stars?.......2007-07-05
This book suffers from an unbelievable storyline - How do a CPA and a washed-up supermodel wind up at the FBI academy? - and the plot goes downhill from there. It also suffers from poor editing which leads to major contradictions in consecutive pages. This is the first Fern Michaels book I have read...and the last.

fantastic series of novel.......2007-10-07
I have read the entire series by this author. I am in the process of reading the newest release called "Free Fall". Every one of these books, are, in my opinion fantastic! Go Sisterhood! I can't wait to get to the end of my current book to see what lies ahead for the women from Pinewood.
Lethal Justice (all the Revenge of the Sisterhood books).......2007-08-24
I love all the Revenge of the Sisterhood Books. Lethal Justice is great. I can't wait to read more of Fern Michael's books and the rest of The Revenge of the Sisterhood Books.
Vigilantes.......2007-07-22
The Sisterhood series is one of Fern Michaels' best series. Each installment is better than the last. In this installment it's Alexis' turn to get revenge and Michaels accomplishes this with such class. I love the way she humiliates the criminals.
Ruins grow thorns........2007-05-24
Alexis Thorn, the first-time around, passed her revenge by The Sisterhood. She was haunted by the specter of bars controlling her life.
"Lethal Justice" by Fern Michaels gives Alexis the justice she was denied in grand style as the Sisterhood unite and gain a new member in this the sixth of a good series.
Wanting and being afraid of the consequences of her desire, plagues Alexis, as she knows the score. She served time in prison for a crime she didn't commit and has no desire to return. Perhaps the most complex of the series to date.
Nash Black, author of "Qualifying Laps" and "Taxes, Stumbling Blocks & Pitfalls for Authors."

Hard to finish...not worth reading .......2007-07-19
I wanted to like this book, but the plot was very disturbing-how can anyone feel positive about a book that endorsed this kind of ending?
Women who can outwit the government in this fashion? Yeah, sure.
Everyone has a BMW? Yeah, right.
They don't get caught when they spy? They always get the info they want? That's realistic...
And what happens to the horses? This book was over-dramatized and the characters were 1-Dimensional. The writing showed promise, but didn't deliver. I won't be reading any other books by this author, sad to say.
Till Justice Do You Part.......2007-06-11
Fern Michaels', "The Jury" doesn't rest on the success of previous additions to the series. The old southern adage: "You wouldn't want to stoop to their level," doesn't help when your only answer is: "You want to bet." Ms. Michaels provides a vicarious experience and keeps her fans coming back for more.
Nikki is suffering from guilt, even though she brought the members of the Sisterhood to her adoptive mother's attention; she feels the strain of an outsider. Now, her name has been chosen for the next revenge. Nikki believes her membership in the close knit group is under false pretenses as she has reunited with her life's partner without telling her friends. Taking a vacation, Nikki leaves her law firm in the hands of Allison Bank, a replacement for her beloved childhood companion.
Allison betrays her employer for a chance at the big time, and the Sisterhood convenes. In the meantime, Paula Woodley, a Washington wife, is almost beaten to death by her husband. Now Nikki mission becomes twofold, defeat Allison and regain her life's work and help Paula Woodley put an end to the torture she has endured during her marriage.

I enjoyed reading the Kentucky Series and look forward to reading some of the other ones.
How is it that this kind of junk can get published?.......2006-02-06
It seems that all you need today is to have the patience to write a full-length novel - the talent and original ideas come in a poor second and third. This book is horribly written, the plot is cliche, the characters are selfish and hard to relate to, and Ms. Michaels has added the final insult of not researching her topic. She knows nothing about horse racing, horses, or Las Vegas.
I think, besides all of the errors, that the thing that bothered me the most about this book was the stupid names of the characters. Pyne, Birch, Fanny, Willow, Hatch Littletree, even a Monica Lepinsky. This is drivel and should never have been published.

I started reading this book way back in August and I've been reading it for over a month and still haven't finished it. This book is trash! A horse just doesn't go to the Derby without prior prep races. They usually have a two year old season and then they have prep races in their three year old season and if they are lucky the horse makes it to the Derby. Another major flaw is that jockeys would NEVER ride their first race in the Derby. Jockeys start out riding at the bottom ranks and work their way up to the bigger stakes races as they improve. I still can't figure out why this author would write on a subject they had no experience.

UGH! How insulting this book is. If the plot got any more simplistic, I don't think that I could have finished the book. Oh wait, I didn't finish the book. There really was nothing to the few chapters that I did read. Would I recommend it? Not a chance. Generally I like Fern Micheals, but this is a book that should never have been released. Does she think we are all simpletons?

I LOVE this series!! If you started with the Texas series, instead of this book, which is the last book in the series, I think you will find that these characters have a lot of depth and you become very involved with their lives. Once I started, I could not put these books down!!
