Book Description
They have liberated Anahar, but for Tess Birdsong and Archer Blackcloak the war has only begun. Anari slaves are rebelling in Bozandar, and the streets of that sparkling city are wet with blood.
Tess and Archer must forge a peace between the warring races, for only together will their combined armies have the strength to move against the dark forces gathering to the west.
As the scars of old wounds are ripped open, pitting brother against brother and the Ilduin sisterhood against itself, Tess and Archer march into a battle that will determine the world's fate. Guided by snow wolves, moving under the dark cloud of a bitter prophecy, they ready themselves to strike at the enemy's seat of power, a mountain fortress that has never been taken.
But their greatest danger comes from within, for Archer carries a dark secret that may doom them all

slightly let down .......2007-05-15
I LOVED the first 2 books. I couldn't put them down until I finished them. The third book was no different until the end. Ms. Lee wrote about battles and the harshness so clearly that you could see it in your mind. The intricacies painted with the oily fingers in Tess's mind and all the other details made such a great story and there were 3 books devoted to the journey to this great battle. I really felt let down with the battle (not wanting to say anything to spoil it for others)and the way the book ended. I feel there should have been more to the battle, after all, it did take 3 books to get there and then to quickly wrap it up was a let down.
Exciting finish to a wonderful series.......2007-01-20
If you have followed the adventures of Tess Birdsong, Archer Blackcloak and their friends as they battle the terror of the Darkness, you will be thrilled with this explosive conclusion to the trilogy. The evil and darkness that are covering the world with chaos is caused by the firstborn. Archer and his brother are the last of the firstborn and tho immortal their hatred and blame for the other pollutes this world
SHADOWS OF MYTH and SHADOWS OF PROPHECY lead us to this novel SHADOWS OF DESTINY. After meeting and gathering an army now Tess and the Ilduin, Archer and his allies, the Emperor and his armys converge on the city of Arderon to face his brother Ardred.
All of the sub-plots are woven into the final climax and we find all the answers to our questions. Who Tess really is. The answers about the Ilduin. The flowering of the feelings Tess has for Archer. I really liked the full disclosure that we have waited for.
This adventure is awesome, the world full of texture and grit. I loved all three novels and the ending is so dynamic and unexpected it blew me away. Do not miss this stunning conclusion to this epic journey.
A solid ending.......2006-12-23
The war continues in Shadows of Destiny, and Ms. Lee writes war as it should be written, brutally. War is hell, and the author does not stint on the message. You are also slapped in the face with the horrors of slavery, and Ms. Lee does not hide behind euphemisms and double-talk to remind you of that fact. This is not a fun book, its raw, sad, depressing and exciting. Its also very good, very well-written, and impossible to put down. Very brief moments of happiness occur in this book (blink and you'll miss them), and you find you hang on to those moments as fiercely as all the characters do in the book. Enemies become allies, then friends. We learn more of the backgrounds of all of our main characters, all the questions raised in the first two Shadow books are answered.
Shadows of Destiny is, I think, the final chapter in this trilogy by Rachel Lee (Shadows of Myth and Shadows of Prophecy being the first two books). It ends the way it should, not necessarily the way you want. That said, I would be the poorer if I had missed this incredible journey.
Four stars rather than five because this is not a stand-alone book, it needs the two previous books to understand what's happening and why. Put all three books together, and you have a solid five-star read. I highly recommend them.
Book Description
Scrying means seeing magical images in a reflective medium, such as a crystal ball, mirror, or natural source of inspiration like fire, water or clouds. The word "scry," derived from the Anglo-Saxon word descry, means to "perceive dimly."
Scrying in shiny surfaces has been practiced in almost every culture and time, not only by mystics, clairvoyants and magicians, but also by every girl who has gazed into a mirror and hoped to see her lover's face in the glass.
Though it is one of the most ancient ways of predicting the future, scrying is as relevant today as when our distant ancestors gazed into pools by moonlight to locate the herds - it does not conflict with modern scientific knowledge or psychology.
Scrying the Secrets of the Future offers practical, hands-on guidance to using a wide variety of methods from many cultures and agesfrom Ancient Egypt, the Aztecs and Mayans, and Classical Greece and Rome to Medieval European magicians, village wise women and 21st century coffee-shop divination. Discussion of each method includes its history and cultural background, traditional practices, and how to adapt these techniques to the needs of the modern world and everyday decision making. This unique book will help you:
Learn to see and interpret images in many forms, including wax, herbs and oils on water, crystal balls and candles, shadows and dark mirrors. Explore additional techniques of clairaudience, psychic hearing and clairsentience, and psychic impressions, to make your scrying multi dimensional. Discover how to prepare yourself psychically, find the best scrying tools, empower them, ensure you are protected spiritually as you work, and how to close down your psychic energies after divination. Find out how to maximize future possibilities, avoid potential problems, and advise others privately and professionally through clairvoyance Communicate with and channel angels and spirit guides and discover past lives and worlds.

Still a Secret.......2007-06-14
Cassandra Eason has written dozen of books on the subject of psychic developement and magic, so obviously she should be an expert. When I read the biographical information on her, I assumed that this book would be very in-depth. I also expected that it would be well written and easy to understand. I have been using tarot for divination for decades and hoped to increase that knowledge with other systems. I have tried various forms of candle and dark mirror scrying in the past without much satisfaction. It was my expectation that this book would fill my need for further instruction.
The book has 14 chapters, each one focusing on a different method of scrying such as candles, water, mirrors - both clear and black, clouds and crystal balls. Each chapter discusses what you need for the particular form of divination, what otherworldly powers you might call on to help you (angels, spirit animals, Gods and Goddess, ancestors) and simple working rituals. There is also information on historical data and uses, but no footnotes of any of the source materials.
Ms. Easton has a habit I found distressing of saying the student should do a working in a particular manner only to end her statement with a disclaimer telling the reader to do whatever feels comfortable to them if the method just outlined isn't to the reader's liking. She pulls elements from different cultures and Pantheons completely willy-nilly into her discussions, listing so many options that it was often overwhelming.
I found the writing of the book inconsistent in many areas. A chapter would have highly detailed areas, which were quite fascinating, that start to pull the reader in only to meander off on a tangent that was almost mind numbingly dull. I love to read but I am glad I have finally finished this book.
The chapter on tealeaf scrying was very difficult to understand. Directions on which area of the cup meant what in a reading were so poorly written I find it hard to believe anyone would get a working knowledge without other instruction. On the other hand, the chapters on crystal ball and clouds were thoroughly fascinating. If the rest of the book were as helpful as these two chapters, it would be well worth the time and effort to read it and try out the various methods presented.
The final chapter "Scrying with Shadows" appears to be a catchall area where everything that didn't fit neatly in the previous chapters ended up. There was smoke and steam divination, as well as gemstone scrying. Actual shadow scrying took up less than half the chapter.
There is an appendix with listings of different cultural names for the Fates. Plus there is a listing of useful reading for further study (the author lists 9 of her previous books here) and lastly an index.

Sequel to Define Destiny
Customer Reviews:
Lacks creativity expression, utilization of her characters!.......2004-04-02
This writer attempted to write about the struggles of Catherine and Jace and their life together in a sequel that is suppose to be about power, control and the ever presence of love. However, this book lacks creativity and expression along those lines, with little resourcefulness that was readily available to her with her established characters.
After the writer failed with the utilizaton of her characterizations, she tried another compromise that exposed the true goals of the vulnerable, mind-boggling, implausible storyline with shooting, employees throwing themselves out of windows, previous drug uses by Catherine, Jace's struggles with her hatred and pathetic attempts at being a loving partner, the publishing empire of Catherine's with the personnel, and how she came to run the publishing business originally. The story is simply not credible or convincing.
The writer needed to condense the topic sentences as much as possible without losing the author's meaning, but this wasn't accomplished. She needed to evaluate each paragraph to determine whether it is a primary, secondary, or tertiary paragraph had fulfilled her characterizations or added to the plot. Again, she didn't. I often felt, the writer eliminate topics sentences from tertiary toward primary without realizing she was doing such, and that she was totally unaware the most important ones left did not fit within the assigned scheme of the story. This was by far, the most lackluster, scantily inscribed book I have read in many, many years.
There are surprisingly good alternatives in Lesbian fiction already developed to fill the appetite of any reader without being bored to death by grammatically incorrect, inadequately edited attempts at lesbian literature. My recommendation on this one is to save your money.
Sporadic and erratic beyond words.......2004-03-06
I don't usually write negative reviews - in fact I think this is my second. However - I was moved to write this because I was so disappointed by this novel.
For me, the characters are the heart and soul of the novel - and this sequel novel featured Catherine and Jace as the main characters. I never felt that I got to know either. Both were two dimensional - at best. Supporting characters were a little more fleshed out, but not enough. The storyline was sporadic, erratic and far-fetched. and not interesting at all. Dialogue was so primitive and certainly nothing that people in these professional fields would be saying even in their sleep. There just wasn't anything about this book that kept my interest. My last rant is the cover was so misleading. Why would you think that bursting light would depict a title like Haunting Shadows?
I'm upset that I spent a lot of money (Australian) on this... when there are so many other great books out there that I could have bought! If you're reading this saying "what books?" - try reading some of the well known published novels by authentic Lesbian authors such as Kathrine Forrest, Missy Good, or BL Miller, that give you a thought out tale, some really well developed characters with appropriate and believable dialogue. My advise is Save Your Money. End rant.
A must read book.......2004-02-04
Haunting Shadows the sequel to Define Destiny is a must read.
The characters are very well rounded and developed giving the reader a chance to identify with each one. The imagery is first class allowing the reader to see the story unfold much like a movie. Treat yourself to a wonderful reading experience and read this remarkable story
Gonzo style reads contrived rather than fresh........2003-12-04
Not only must the lead character deal with the New York shootings at Xionthis's Publishing which is located in Catherine's Building, but Catherine must return to her drug filled past to deal with an enemy that has previously stabbed
her while they were in prison. Now, that foe is seeking revenge and has kidnapped Jace, who has just given birth. While faced with her painful past,Catherine realizes Jace is where her redemption rests. This sequel is a mind-numbing story of murder, kidnapping, jealousy, sadness, previous haunting memories of the past and ends with the couple hap-hazardously triumphing over all the troubles. This should have been a very powerful book and should have held the reader's interest long after it has been read, but that didn't happen as the plot was wobbly and the writing was rutted.
I have a personal dislike of reviews that only state, "this was a great book, so and so writes really well" or praising a publishing company for snapping up the writer without reviewing one item in the book. To me that simply isn't a fair or accurate review of the novel, but an attempt to raise the rating of that particular book. These so called reviews not only do an injustice to the writer, but to those individuals that have bought and actually read the book or reading reviews to get an idea about what the book is about so that they might purchase it. For that reason, I've decided to also write why I didn't like Haunting Shadows.
I'm attempting to be fair with this review, so I'll explain what I didn't like about this book and why. I had heard and read reviews, both good and bad, and now I had a copy to read. Really, it should be called God Awful in lieu of Haunting Shadows. I will concede it has a few good descriptions of New Zealand, but it is poor writing for many reasons:
· It is so obviously trying to be ironic. And because it is so obvious, it feels contrived.
· The ending is obvious from the first few chapters.
· The gonzo style reads contrived rather than fresh.
. Wasn't smooth flowing and seemed forced throughout.
. The sentence composition is less than proficient, with bungling punctuation.
· I accept the characters are meant to be believable, but some 3-dimensional characters would have been a nice addition
· The misspelling/misuse of some words was not the least bit funny.
. The absence of appropriate editing is clearly apparent.
· A ridiculous, unbelievable ending.
. Beautiful cover had nothing to do with contents and was deceptive.
The fact an Internet story like this can be put into book form with so many editing errors, and so costly really annoys me. I strongly recommend you save your money as this book was definitely a turn off, was poorly written and very disappointing.
Another Great Read.......2003-11-25
J M Dragon has done it again in this sequel to Define Destiny. I enjoyed this second look into the trials, tribulations & trumphs of Jace & Catherine just as much as I did in the previous book. Looking forward to the next in the series. Thanks J M.

Great Reading!.......2000-05-13
I just finished this set of three novels in less than a day (fortunately, I had the day off!) and they were wonderful! They're set in the time right after World War II and really incorporate some very interesting history in a painless way. The main character's growing relationship with God and then his opportunities to help others make their own spiritual connections are very inspirational without being saccharin, and the non-stop adventure is really gripping. Highly recommended!
Rendezvous With Destiny- worth 20 Newberys!.......2000-01-18
These three books are only the first out of five. They are so exciting you can't put them down. They've got romance, adventure, history, and excitment. They take place in post-WWII times, focusing on the life of Captain (soon to be Colonel) Jake Burnes. It tells about his assignments in Europe, his best friend Pierre, and his fiance Sally. If you like adventure, read these!

A new, young star.......2007-02-28
Cassandra Lynn writes a novel so vivid, you can easily picture the setting and the characters in your mind's eye. She is a pleasure to read. This book reminds me of the Lord of the Rings. A very detailed, magical world with realistic characters. A good story.
Shockingly impressive work from newly published young author.......2004-08-24
Suffice it to say--this author is one to watch. Aviar is a delicious work with lucrative promise in the sequels. Remember the name Cassandra Lynn because her break-out success will not typecast her to a genre. She is so uniquely talented with character formation, plot development, and story-telling I predict she will impact fiction tremendously through a myriad of mediums over the length of her writing career. Aviar is a hands-down indication of Lynn's immense talent. The intricately created world of Aviar mirrors well the intricateness of each of its characters. When the two are integrated well it is truly a measure of a writer's skill. Lynn dances artfully with her pen while her characters and their world penetrate the reader's conscious and unconscious minds. Bravo to Aviar and Cassandra Lynn, her work inspires dreams.
Excellent, a must read for any sci-fi/fantasy fan!.......2004-08-05
If you like the Lord of the Rings or Dune, you'll love this book. Even though this is her first book you'd never know it. It is an exciting and fantastic book. I won't give anything away, as to ruin your experience *ahem Gryffon*, just check it out and enjoy your time in Aviar, as I did.
A MUST BUY! (revised).......2004-08-03
First off, I would like to quote the back of the book, so you, the reader can get a general idea of the story.
"Rallan, a powerful magician, destroys the city of Mt. Geitu, setting the wheels in motion to fulfill a prophecy that has lain in wait for nearly five hundred years. Aviar's only hope of protection against Rallan's malevolent will is to unite her three sons, who are ignorant of their true identities. Facing an uncertain future, an odd band of travelers begins the search:
Era, a spirtied, fiery-haired Clearling.
Lore, a magician of the Temple of Fate.
Tyr, Lore's adventurous and loyal friend.
Tekal, modest, proper, and privaleged.
Staf, a trained soldier quick to anger.
The fate of Aviar hangs in the balance. The stakes are high, but the price of failure is unimaginable."--Aviar: Shadows of Destiny.
The description from the back of the book alone is interesting enough to hook any reader into the intriguing story that unfolds in the world of Aviar. You are lead into a world, where things are quite common and normal, while such things aren't in this world. The relationships of humankind are similar in both our world, as in Aviar.
As you read along, you will find yourself becoming attached to many characters, then detaching as you find new ones. This happened on many occasions to myself. I would start to like a character, then find a new character i liked. It's always a good sign when you can become attached to a character.
Cassandra Lynn has succeeded in creating a world, where anyone can divulge themselves to escape a sense of reality. She is owed so much for creating such a world, and I congratulate her accomplishment.
Above all i believe this novel is a great tale. It flows with elegance, and keeps the reader involved. Many times i found myself not wanting to put the book down despite the fact i knew i had to sleep. The author, Cassandra Lynn, has done a wonderful job, and her writing is extraordinary. I found it hard to believe that this was a first novel. I hope to read her following works, and wish her the best of luck. So don't hesitate to buy this novel.

Product Description
You can admire them uncut, or sculpt them into your dreams of illuminated nights. Like stones, poems can be weapons, too. There are precious stones and precious poems; poems which love to attach themselves to the velvet skin of women. Poems can be like building stones, cast aside or being made into a shrine.
Paul Katona, a native of Hungary shares the sacred gems of his altar with you, and also shows you the stone ax with which he uses to combat his own demons. He invites you too, into his secret garden filled with statues of Greek goddesses, allowing you a glimpse into the depth of the female mystery, cruelty, beauty and sensuality.
He cannot share selectively, but give himself in his entirety. To complete this communion however, you must make a decision to become open, too. Ready? Say yes! And welcome this compassionate, cynical, touching, and challenging world of his collection into your life.
You will emerge with magic, never seen precious stones - they will beautify your world, and will open new doors of perceptions. Some of his poems will appear politically motivated, but closer inspection will reveal that the underlying impetus, as always - is the human condition itself, a condition constantly threatened by various political, commercial, or even religious establishments. The author's Ars Poetica maintains that there exists no subject that can not be written about in a poem.
The capability to recognize, transmute, and integrate any phenomenon into the sacred is the true litmus test of an artist and the decisive question of the artist remains: on what part of the spectrum at any given moment, are we? The world is all inclusive and indefinite in the same time. Poetry, like music, is a sacred language, a higher form of expression. Get ready to remove the dust guards from your own mirror, and rediscover yourself in this sometimes graphic, defining and romantic realm, The Bird Man and His Shadow
