Excellent application of the MBTI to relationship dynamics.......2006-06-06
Despite its somewhat maudlin title and front cover, this book is very interesting. It based on Jungian MBTI theory which in my view is a very powerful tool for understanding people's personality. The book itself is not theoretical: it gives a brief description of the 16 types and then there is a couple of pages for each of the 136 possible combinations. Much has been printed about the MBTI, but this one has a very interesting practical approach. For each combination, you find a paragraph on the strengths, a paragraph on the weaknesses, and a short list of key recommendations for each partner. Even if you know everything about Jungian psychology you can still discover some new insights on personality relationships. For the anecdote, my INTJ recommendation list (with my ESFJ wife) is a pretty goood summary of everything I do wrong at home !

This is a very easy to read book that is broken down into logical and useful sections. It is also a lot of fun.
Helps you understand all relationships, not just romantic.......2003-02-27
If you are into understanding yourself and your relationships with others, you will love this guide.
After decoding myself (ISTP), I decoded everyone I know well, and it helped me to understand how and why each of my relationships differ. I shared the book with my ESTP boyfriend and we laughed so hard we nearly cried, because the book described our relationship SO EXACTLY it was scary.
We all communicate and make decisions differently. This book explains how YOUR type and THEIR type interact, and how to avoid common pitfalls. It's not only helpful, but very eye-opening and fun.
Matches Every Type w/Every Other Type - Unique & Well Done!.......2003-02-08
I'm a huge MBTI nut, and I've read about MBTI book out there, including those from Britain, etc! This book is truly unique b/c it matches every type w/every other type, to show you the joys, pitfalls, and helpful suggestions. What should an ENTJ know about his/her INFP spouse? This book has very specific and personalized answers.
The best thing is, this isn't just a gimmick. It's VERY well done. The insights are superb and will tell you something new about not only your romantic relationships, but other important relationships as well.
My spouse & I have a wonderful relationship - over 10 years of wedded bliss - and we've also done a ton of Myers-Briggs analysis together. So I was shocked and delighted when my spouse read the piece comparing our types - and said, Hey, there are several things in here I want you to read! There were indeed "hints" that I needed to take to heart, things I never would have guessed but that did truly come from our type interaction.
The best dating guide, divorce prevention, self-help book!.......2002-10-31
First, it's important to know I have been a believer in the validity of the personality test upon which this book is based ... from my own experience in the 15 years since I first took the test as required for one of my science major classes in college, and because the test has a good reputation among professionals. The more people I persuade to take this test, the more impressed I am with the accuracy and validity of the test and the accuracy of several other books based upon the test. That's important information because this book can be no more accurate than the personality test upon which it is based. Secondly, the authors are internationally recognized experts in the application of the test results.
Having established that, in my opinion this particular book is more valuable than any of the other books I own based on that personality test because it presents the various personaly types in a more practical manner: exactly how each of the other types is compatible or incompatible with you, and specifically how to interact with each of the other types in order to minimize conflicts. I'm well into my second marriage now and am astounded by how accurately the good aspects and areas of conflict for both marriages were pinpointed in this book ...same goes for every other intimate relationship in my life where I knew the others' type .... it's like the book was written about me, for me! This book is priceless for those of you in the dating scene screening for Mr or Ms "Right for you" and not wanting to waste any time getting to the altar. Or if you think you're in love but are afraid it won't last, wondering what marriage to them would be like since 50% of marriages these days end in divorce. Or for those already married who want to strengthen their relationship and reduce conflicts .... it couldn't be spelled out more clearly and concisely exactly how to go about it for your individual relationship. This book helped me to get the clearest perspective on how others see me...to see the truth of how each relationship is more than just the sum of it's parts or partners, but that two individuals each effect how the other is in the relationship,... and taught me specifically how I can adapt for each of the various individuals in my life that I'd like to get along with better. More than any other book I've read about relationships, (and that's LOTS of books)this book gives pertinent advice tailored specifically for you and each one of your individual relationships. Other books speak generically to the masses based on "the majority" of people researched. My personality type is less than 1% of the population, yet this book still has a lot of accurate information and specific advice relevant to my individual needs. I think this book is the best money I ever spent and my praise doesn't get any better than that! I can see why the authors are internationally recognized experts in the application of this personality test.

On Christmas Day 1995, a daring cybercriminal used a new, dangerous, and clever method to gain access to the home computer of the world's greatest computer security expert. The hero, as a matter of honor, set out to find the devious mastermind who violated his privacy and discovered that it was none other than cyberspace's Public Enemy Number One.
That's the classic version at least. Given all of the hype surrounding the capture of Kevin Mitnick (much of it created and sustained by the authors of this book), one would at least expect the version provided by "The Man Who Did It" to be entertaining. But Tsutomu Shimomura's writing (apparently not assisted enough by John Markoff) is somewhat dull. The details of Shimomura's personal life are probed in depth while technical, legal, and ethical questions are brushed over without commentary, such as the supposed proof of Mitnick's involvement in the break-in or Markoff's involvement in the capture. There may be some material of interest to the enthusiast, and those who read Jonathan Littman's The Fugitive Game should at least check out Takedown to see what all of the fuss is about.
Customer Reviews:
Tsutomu Shimomura is a Moron who Just Wanted Attention.......2006-07-20
Shimomura teamed up to write the most trivial, and boring details in this book about himself, and when he wasn't doing that, he was making up things about Kevin Mitnick. He never met Kevin Mitnick, he never knew Kevin Mitnick, he never had anything to do with Kevin Mitnick other than helping track him down because he was starved for attention and wanted to look like some super computer hero. Almost nothing in this book actually happened, I say almost because the only stuff that did actually happen were the trivial mundane details about Shumomura himself. Don't waste your time reading this sensationalist, tabloidian, garbage.
tedious, self-indulgent subplots,.......2005-12-06
Tedious, self-indulgent subplots. I dont care about Julia. No one cares about Julia. No one cares about where you eat or where you rent a car. These subplots REALLY screw-up the read. But the computer stuff is interesting enough. But somebody, please, toss Julia overboard.
Great book, everybody here seems to be starstruck.......2005-04-12
I have The Fugitive and Takedown (this book) sitting in my room now. I borrowed both of them simultaneously. I had only heard of Mitnick before in anecdotes, and I thought it would be interesting to get both viewpoints.
I started reading the Fugitive, but found it to read like a cheap B novel. The story jumped around in some sort of "stylistic" way that made it a bit incomprehensible and not very entertaining. There was a lack of coherence that made you wonder where it wwas going. The author also seemed to think that mentioning a lot of sex and drugs was the only way to keep the reader's attention.
So about 80 pages through, I switched to Takedown, and finished it. I found it to be much better written and very engaging.
All the negative reviews here are due to the fact that a lot of online people worship Mitnick, for some reason. I find him an interesting character, and definitely a skilled con-man. But he's no hero, no invincible genius.
Shimomura can definitely be egotistical depending on your viewpoint, but it didn't bother me. It doesn't get in the way of the story, which was told beautifully and naturally.
The story is engaging enough without having to dress it up in sensationalism. I'll have to go finish the Fugitive now to see if it can redeem itself.
If you want to know Mitnick's story, ask Mitnick........2005-03-05
Fans of the Kevin Mitnick mythos will have a ball with this book dissecting everything that's wrong here. In the process of tracking Mitnick, Shimomura (and another important name, Markoff, whose relationship with Mitnick would be laughable if it didn't violate every concievable rule of morality) basically took free leave of both the law and personal decency. Mitnick became a "thing", and the two of them pushed that image of Mitnick to cover up the legal mess they would have been in if they'd been tracking some average Joe instead of Kevin Mitnick: The Man, The Myth, The Legend (again, an image which these two men essentially created).
It's amazing to see how egotistical Shimomura is willing to be on the issue, and as noted by others, he shows this off in spades in this book. Shimomura and Markoff boh essentially believe that they are the lone men responsible for the takedown and capture of Mitnick, and that not even the dozens (hundreds?) of security firms and companies who spent millions of their own money tracking Mitnick deserve any credit at all. And in a sense, they are mostly correct- we wouldn't be talking about Mitnick today if Markoff and Shimomura weren't working so desperately hard to make money off of this story.
If you're a fan of Mitnick, skip this book just because you don't want to give this man any royalties. If you're a fan of reading, skip this book because it's core is a mess of egotism. The only real reason to pick this up is if you have an insatiable urge to know every detail of this story that you can possibly get your hands on- in which case, it is another piece to the puzzle.
I reccomend that interested parties check out Mitnick's own books: "Deception..." and "Intrusion...", as well as the fan favorite Jonathan Littman's "Fugitive Game".
My God, What a load of...........2004-08-24
This book was painful to read. It is poorly written drivel. If you are truly interested in the topic, there are much better books written on Mitnick, Hacking/Phreaking, and/or computer security issues. With every paragraph that Shimomura writes about his love life (and there are plenty of them,) the book, (although calling it that is insulting to other books) continues on a long downward spiral into the absolute load of poop that it is. I feel sorry that paper was wasted to create this mess. I cannot believe I wasted several hours of my life reading this.
Book Description
The past has a way of catching up with folks in Stone Creek, Arizona. So schoolmarm Lark Morgan and Marshal Rowdy Rhodes are determined to hide their secrets—and deny their instant attraction. That shouldn't be too hard, since each suspects the other of living a lie.
Her too-fancy clothes and big-city ways inspire gossip all over town; his blond good looks and impudent grin belong to a man sporting a gunfighter's coat.
But Rowdy and Lark have one truth in common: the very real dangers they face. Like the gang of robbers wreaking havoc on the railroad heading toward Stone Creek—the men Ranger Sam O'Ballivan expects Rowdy to nab. And as past and current troubles collide, Rowdy and Lark must surrender their stubborn pride to the greatest power of all—an undying love.

Pardner a cutie!!.......2007-09-21
A Wanted Man book (2) could stand alone. Although, I would recommend to read The Man from Stone Creek book (1). In this book Rowdy Rhodes and Pardner were introduced. Pardner he's a dog! I loved how the author intermingle him into the story line. Almost all the characters in The Man from Stone Creek played a part in A Wanted Man.
Schoolmarm Lark Morgan and Sexy Rowdy Rhodes had an instant attraction (physical chemistry) when they first laid eyes on each other at Mrs porter's boarding house. Both, sense the other were hiding a secret. I also, liked the secondary characters as well. Rowdy's brother Gideon, (Sixteen) he played a sufficient role. Lydia a sweet eight year old stole my heart. LLM hint at their own story. I hope it does materialize. Another secondary character Mrs Porter the landlady. I don't want to give anything away. Throughout the book Mr Porter was mentioned. The ending that involved Mrs Porter I was rather surprised!!
I highly recommend A wanted Man.
An absolute keeper. Explicit Sex.
At the beginning of the book Linda Lael Miller wanted to tell everyone about a special group of people with whom she recently become involved.
The Humane Society of the United States, specifically their Pets for Life Program. Adding Pardner (dog) played a medium key role in, A wanted Man, animals can be part of our lives too.
I WANT THIS MAN! LOL.......2007-09-14
I love Westerns, whether books or movies. Just like historicals, they bring you back to a place and time we can only imagine. LLM's books do this with a light reading and a fairly good story. Sensuality is a 9 and you kind of have to get around this for historical fact.
Both Rowdy and Lark were good characters. Rowdy was the perfect man; bad but extremely good inside and out. Lark wasnt a simpering 18 y.o. I dont like books where the heroine is that young. The book was a very good companion on an overnight business trip. Will read more of LLM.
Another well-told tale by Miller.......2007-08-30
Lark Morgan is a schoolmarm with a secret she can't afford for anyone to learn. New to Stone Creek, Arizona, she teaches in a one-roon schoolhouse in clothing more befitting a woman of wealth and stature than a poorly paid single woman.
Rowdy Rhodes is the new marshall of Stone Creek and new to town as well. He's been hired by a fedeal ranger to keep peace in a small town, as well as help find the gang of train robbers who are disrupting rail sesvice and scaring passengers away. Rowdy has a secret of his own and being found out could mean the end of his freedom.
When Rowdy's father and younger brother show up, it spells trouble for the new marshall. Lark has trouble of her own on the horizon when the owner of the railway gets held up by the train robbers, one who has eyes the same deep blue as Rowdy's. Rowdy needs to put a stop to the robberies, and Lark needs to find a way out of town before the train's owner finds her. And both of them might be better off if they weren't so darned attracted to each other. But, who can they trust?
Throw in an elderly landlandy with secrets of her own, a little girl left to fend for herself, a 20-year-old third grader, and a Chinese doctor and his wife--and you have an ensemble sure to make for an entertaining story.
You can expect to laugh, sigh, and feel the pull of your heartstrings with this one. A well-written tale from an author who knows her way around a horse and a dog. Highly entertaining read.
Armchair Interviews says: Once you read a Linda Lael Miller book, you'll look for others.

A Wanted Man is a very enjoyable historical romance. Linda Lael Miller has written both Lark and Rowdy as strong, brave, yet human heroes. All the characters in this book fit in well with the story and at times they made me want to shake them and then hug them. A Wanted Man is a book I found myself not wanting to put down. As I read, I found myself wanting to be seduced by someone like Rowdy. I will most definitely be reading A Wanted Man again as well as looking out for more Stone Creek titles.

This was a decent book. There was nothing terribly interesting or compelling in the story. It is a worthwhile read. Just seem kind of blah to me. Not as good as other Miller books.

Story Behind the Book
“Twelve years ago, I became romantically, though thankfully not sexually, involved with my then-pastor. This resulted in the church’s devastation and a great deal of harm to both of our marriages. But God used the difficult lessons I learned during that arduous time to reshape my thinking about marriage and to plainly show me that the man I always wanted was the one I already had. By using my own story of failure and forgiveness as a backdrop, this book illustrates how our heart’s desire is often found no further then the big lug lying next to us in bed each night!” –Paula Friedrichsen

Honest & Insightful.......2007-07-04
In this book Paula challenges us as Christian women to rise above our emotional response, and choose to do right by our husbands, by honoring God and what he has called us to as wives. It reads like a conversation with a good friend with honest stories, insightful personal trials, scripture and well put humor.
This book will give you the tools you need to help you grow into the wife God has called you to be, which will in turn bear the fruit of a blessed, lasting and happy marriage.
Whether your marriage is young or old, this book will remind you what it's really all about. .......2007-06-21
Paula Friedrichsen lays it out very clearly in this book about how, as Christian wives, we should look at, honor, and better serve our husbands. Her writing is filled with such tangible honesty that I found myself walking beside her, often holding my breath, as she took me through a series of events that changed her life. Her openness to share all the intimate details brought me right into her world and her fresh sense of humor made me laugh through it all. Whether you are newly married, married thirty years, or just hoping to be a wife one day, I would recommend you read this book. Paula's insight overflows with seeds of wisdom. Take them, plant them, and then glean from the harvest for years to come.
Helpful encouragement and will provide hope to those who may be growing cold toward their marriage........2007-06-06
Recycling your marriage is a novel concept in this day of wide-ranging disposables; everything from diapers to dinner plates are designed to be tossed in the trash. The frequency with which some people change spouses indicates that many have extended that idea to relationships as well. And, if we personally haven't, then we've become very accepting of those who do, which also helps to promote it. This is not to say that divorce is never acceptable --- merely that there may be other alternatives when a relationship seems "used up."
Paula Friedrichsen is a freelance writer who speaks at women's retreats and conferences. Her insights and commentaries can be heard on Christian radio and television. Now she has taken her experiences and put together an inspiring self-help book that may begin to help reverse the pervasive trend of divorce-as-the-solution-to-relationship-problems.
The author writes from the heart of a woman who has been transformed by the Grace of God. During the early years of her marriage, Paula and her husband Jeff had moved to a new town. Jeff was not a Christian at the time, so Paula went to church by herself and soon got caught up in its activities and the teachings of its dynamic pastor. Need I say more? The closer she got to the pastor through services and projects, the further away she grew from her husband. The better the pastor looked, the worse her husband looked by comparison. While the "affair" was never consummated, its effects were far-reaching. The pastor was asked to relocate, and the damage done to the church was, in many ways, irreparable.
As a result of this experience, Paula came away with many truths, and these have formed the framework for this exciting little book. Sometimes, an author's list of truths may sound obvious, and often it's because we have heard them before but have never incorporated them into our own thinking. The Biblical truths that include forgiveness, honesty, trust and love are familiar, yet many continue to struggle with them.
Included among the interesting chapters is a segment on the Four Temperaments. This concept dates back to Hippocrates, who attempted to explain human behavior with his theory of four distinct personality types. It remains a great tool in helping us to understand and appreciate the differences in the personalities among us. Rather than dwelling on our mate's weakness, we can begin to focus on his/her corresponding strength.
Paula Friedrichsen has tackled a distressing problem that faces believers as well as society in general. Through her transparency and clearly stated insights, she has provided a tool for those who would choose to save their marriage rather than abandon it at the first sign of "wear and tear." THE MAN YOU ALWAYS WANTED is full of helpful encouragement and will provide hope to those who may be growing cold toward their marriage.

Paula Friedrichsen has captured the reality of marriage with sincerity and humor, yet not 'sugar-coating' it with 'fluff.' The reality is...marriage is hard work, and although we love our husbands (most of the time:)) it's not always 'happily ever after' the next day. But the fairy-tale ending can be a reality with knowing our husbands, ourselves, and working at this thing called marriage every day. And you know what? As Paula writes so beautifully...it's worth it!

Excellent read: sweet, funny, fun.......2007-09-16
I wasn't sure about this book as it was a debut author, but boy was I happy I decided to read it. The story is about a man who can't tell the truth about who he is and a woman who needs most of all to find a man she can trust. The story is entertaining from beginning to end. I couldn't put it down. I can't wait to see what's next from Ellen Hartman.

Jem is now eight and going to be spending eight weeks in an RV with his father's parents. Rhian decides it is time to let lose - she decides to have a summer fling and write a children's novel.

Nathan Delaney is running from his identity as a famous author and finds himself hired as Rhian's new painter. He only plans to stay in town as long as it takes to paint her house, but finds himself drawn to the woman and wanting more than a summer fling. When a TV journalist manages to hunt him down, he has to decide to stay and make peace with being famous or stay on the lam and hide.
Rhian is a strong heroine who left this reader breathless in her antics and actions to save what she loves. Her love for Nathan outweighs common sense from the beginning and gives the goose bumps as she learns more about the man she fell in love with. When Nathan has a secret to keep he lets only those he loves in, and when he fell for the wrong woman he has to deal with that fact. This makes him scared of love and honesty, when he finally comes clean about it; the drama makes for a tale that ends with a bang!
WANTED MAN is the debut novel for author Ellen Hartman and is one of the best debut novels this reader has read! They say practice makes perfect, but this author is pretty darn near perfect as far as this reader is concerned. This is author will be put on my "to be watched" list and her website scoured frequently for tidbits on new titles. A secondary character, Min (Rhian's best friend and nanny) spoke to this reader, and will hopefully appear soon in a new novel from the talented Ms. Hartman. (*HINT*)

In the 1970s and '80s, one name dominated the dark world of international terrorism as the world's most wanted criminal: Carlos, a.k.a. The Jackal. Branded as an evil mastermind, he was said to have plotted an incredible 20-year spree of assassinations, kidnappings, hijackings, and bombings, earning him a deadly reputation of near-mythic proportions. Could these heinous crimes really be the work of one man, or was Carlos a figment of some intelligence officer's imagination? The truth, as David Yallop found after a decade of research and a series of unprecedented interviews with the legendary killer, is a little of both.
I do not intend to hide anything from you, but you must understand that you may ask me questions that I cannot answer for a number of reasons.... To place my story in your hands is not much. You are placing your life in mine.
Weighing his own findings against the claims of Carlos himself, Yallop attempts to sort fact from fiction, information from misinformation, truth from lies. The knowledge that the Jackal has been captured since these interviews were held takes some of the bite out of the story. But Yallop's investigation into this shadowy world moves like a Hollywood thriller--only it's far more disturbing because the cast of players and the blood on their hands are real. --George Laney

"A good read for espionage fans!".......2007-03-31
If you like the world of espionage, I recommend this book. It is definitely not boring, a well written book. Author also gives readers a very informative look, not just into Carlos the Jackal, but also into the whole Mid-East conflict without the one-sided view we're used to seeing in the West. I learned more about the Israel-Palestine conflict reading this book than in a decade of reading newspapers and school text-books. I would recommend this book.
Sometimes Myth & Reality Are Equal Parts.......2007-01-04
Author David Yallop chronicles what initially must have seemed to be an impossibility; locating & interviewing Ilich Ramirez Sanchez, the international terrorist known as Carlos the Jackal.
From the 1970s to the 1980s, Sanchez conducted an international terrorist spree that included assassinations, kidnappings and hijackings. He helped facilitate the 1972 Munich Olympics plot that ultimately killed Israeli Olympic athletes & coaches and the 1975 kidnappings of OPEC oil ministers.
But it seemed as if every high-profile terrorist plot during this time had the fingerprints of Sanchez all over them. Through interviews with Abu Nidal, Yasir Arafat and others, travels that had false starts, dead ends and twists that have to be read to be believed - including an "interview" with a Sanchez double - Yallop is finally able to meet Carlos the Jackal in the most public of places. And the conclusions Yallop draws again shows how myth & realty can blur the truth in the political arena.
Soon after the book was published in the U.S., Sanchez was captured by French agents during medical treatment in the Sudan and found guilty in a 1997 trial for the murder of two French policemen and an Israeli agent - a crime dating back to the 1970s - and sentenced to life in prison.
Yallop does a masterful job making the reader part of his pursuit and it is not until the closing pages where Sanchez - in real life - appears. But the wealth of material compiled by Yallop almost makes that meeting anti-climatic.
Excellent understanding the Israel/Palestine issue & terror.......2005-02-14
This book is still as valid today as it was when it was first published. Extremely well researched and blows all other accounts away. A must read for anyone interested in Israel/Palestine issue and terrorism in general.
Good book - manufactured murderer.......2004-11-04
The great Carlos wasn't really all that great we discover, but was largely a myth of the US Intel community. An interesting mystery that obviously cannot be confirmed on many points, but since my interest is largely Middle East terrorism, etc. I find their first-hand views of Carlos and terrorism interesting enough to buy the book again just to get their take on the whole affair. Haven't read anything else by Yallop but he does a splendid job here. The tough rating shouldn't indicate whether the book is worth buying (It is), but my tough stand on books that are truly significant in their fields. I read about a book every two days to one week so make tough evaluations!
EXCELLENT INVESTIGATIVE WORK.......2002-07-10
A very fascinating book, this is one of the most interesting documentary work i have ever read. It is filled with suspense and tension during the author's journeys to find the jackal. However, what makes this book really interesting is not tracking down Carlos, but the reality behind the politics and chaos of the middle east discovered by the author during his voyage. Also, the book shows different interviews made to important political figures such as Moammar Gaddafi, Yasser Arafat, George Habash as well as various diplomats and intelligence agents from Israel and europe, just to name few. In addition, the author visits some of the wildest places in the middle east, such as Lebanon, where his aide died on a bomb explosion while he tried to arrange a meeting with Carlos. It is without a doubt, a very thrilling work. I would highly recommend this book especially to those interested on learning about the reality and roots of the Arab-israeli conflict.

Fantastic!.......2006-05-31
In this charming tale of mistaken identity, cosmic romance, and laugh out loud depictions of small-town life, Judi McCoy delivers a fantastic read. The characters and setting are so vividly described that I feel as if I'd had a piece of cherry pie in Lucy's luncheonette. Wanted: One Perfect Man was difficult to put down (I love when that happens!) and I can't wait to dive into the next book of the series. Way to go, Judi!
Highly Entertaining.......2006-03-17
I absolutely loved this book! I love when I can be surprised with a romance novel, and Judi McCoy did that. I basically knew how it would end, hey it is a romance novel, yet she threw some great twists in on the reader. She has great characters and how she pulls them all together. I loved the relationship between the small town folks. I really feel this is one of the best books I have ever read. I can't wait to read everything else she has out there. I love series. I did not know this was part of a series, so I was thrilled when I found out it was. I was never bored with this book or thought it dragged. Judi McCoy is excellent at keeping my attention, I couldn't wait to read the next page and I was dissapointed when it was over. Thank goodness she has other books.
Great Fun.......2006-02-20
I think the XFiles might have been a little different if they had found this kind of Alien.
Judi McCoy writes a well paced book full of light humour and appealing characters. The female lead is a strong women, not likely to just swoon over the closest hunky man. She is on a mission and Daniel Murphy is the means to the end.
It was a really fun read which i would definitely recommend. The story continues with some of Zara's 'sisters' who have the same mission in different towns around the US, in Wanted: One Special Kiss and Wanted: One Sexy Night. I think that reading the whole series adds some depth to each of the individual books.
Looking forward to whatever Judi McCoy is writing next!
An amazingly fun trilogy.......2006-01-04
Judi McCoy just keeps getting better and better with each zany trilogy. Read this set in any order. I started with "Wanted: One Sexy Night" and worked my way backwards. Having reconnoitered Earth for genetically compatible men, women from Zara's galaxy are sent here in self destructing pods to find their guy, mate, make a baby and head back home. Zara falls to Earth as Daniel Murphy and his genius son are star gazing on the roof of their house. They investigate the landing site but disappointingly find nothing. Still, nothing like this has ever happened in their small town and certainly nothing like Zara has ever slung hash at the local Diner before. Daniel has done a great job hiding himself and his special son from people who would use him for a science experiment, but Zara' arrival brings unwanted attention. Daniel Murphy is not the name of the, guy Zara was sent to mate with but he's flipping her pancakes big time and sending all the right pheromones her way. She wonders if, she can't find the guy she was sent for, could she just have this one special guy for a night - or maybe two in the mean time? Buy all three in the series at once. You don't want to miss a single piece of this space puzzle.
A great and wonderful read. .......2005-12-04
This book jumped out at me from a super market rack as I passed it. The cover captivated me. It was colorful and the lady sitting inside the crescent moon with her legs dangling over its edge reminded me of Jeannie in I Dream of Jeannie. I read the description on the back cover then looked at the cover again. Although I wasn't shopping for a book, I was tempted to buy it when I thought of the old adage that you can't judge a book by its cover, so I put it down and went back to my shopping. But after I got home, the cover haunted me, and when I went back to buy the book there were none left. I went to a bookstore and bought the book and after reading it I realized that the old adage about judging a book from its cover is not always right. The story, in this case, turned out to be just as good, if not better, than the cover could have suggested.
The story was interesting, suspenseful, and exciting and kept me turning the pages. The main characters are interesting and realistic. Even the secondary characters are exciting and realistic. The sexual tension is guaranteed due to the story premise of a female alien needing one perfect man to impregnate her because the men on her planet are infertile. Thankfully, the science part of the fiction is simple and does not get too involved in boring scientific explanations and justifications - just enough to carry the story. The story is well written and after I finished reading the book I felt good all over. Wanted: One Perfect Man kept me entertained, interested, wondering, and tense from beginning to end. I highly recommend it.
Book Description
"Wanted Man: In Search of Bob Dylan" is packed with articles and interviews offering insight into the poet laureate of the sixties generation and a man Life magazine recently named among the 100 most important Americans of the twentieth century.
This collection includes photos, many never before published, tracing Bob Dylan's entire career, plus interviews with people who have been closest to him-- such as Bonnie Beecher, the original "girl from the north country"-- and a number of major figures who have worked with Dylan and been influenced by him: Eric Clapton, George Harrison, Roy Orbison, Patti Smith, Ron Wood, and many others. The book spans Dylan's entire career, from his enrollment at the University of Minnesota in 1959 to his work with producer Daniel Lanois on "Oh Mercy", his most acclaimed album in years.
There have been many books written about this creative genius whose songs are the anthems of a generation-- especially during the fiftieth anniversary of his birth-- but only "Wanted Man: In Search of Bob Dylan" conveys the immediacy and humor which is so much a part of the experience of listening to his music.

Desperately Seeking Zimmerman.......2000-09-04
As a long time Dylan fan, I try to learn about him as much as possible. Rock's greatest poet (w/ apologies to Jim Morrison fans, Dylan gets the title hands down.) is always worth examination. Some of his lyrics rank as fine poetry. This is probably the most important song writer of the second half of the 20th Century. Unfortunately, this collection is out of print but it is worthwhile to seek out. It contains many articles and interviews spanning Dylan's entire career. It includes writing by Allen Ginsberg, Patti Smith, Leonard Cohen and Paul McCartney among others. It is a collection of Dylan lore by Dylan's companions and cohorts. It features homages paid by many who were influenced by this great bard. Fans of Dylan would do well to read this book. It is very imformative and lends some insight into the career development of Dylan. The interviews with Ronnie Wood, Roy Orbison and Eric Clapton are revealing. It is amazing when you consider the stature of the people who were influenced and touched by Dylan. Tributes by Johnnie Cash and Bruce Springsteen also highlight the book. It is a compelling look at a man ranked as one of the 100 most important Americans of the 20th Century.
Literary bouiliabaise (that's a compliment).......1997-11-13
Wanted Man is a great song that Dylan wrote for Johnny Cash and an apt title for the book because Mr. Dylan has touched many lives in a deep and profound way. This book is a fun collection of articles, interviews, etc. that's often more fun and illuminating than standard biography writing. I have also looked for the 1st collection in this series, to no avail. If you like this book, also check out Bob Dylan: the Early Years, another fine collection of writings.
Worth reading for hard core Dylan freaks........1997-02-15
Edited by the late John Bauldie (killed in a helicopter crash in England after a soccer match in late 1996), founder of the popular Dylan fan magazine _The Telegraph_, this book offers some insighful comments culled from friends and acquaintances of His Bobness ranging from Bauldie himself to Ray Orbison, Patti Smith and Eric Clapton. Illustrated throughout, this book begins with anecdotes from Dylan's days at the University of Minnesota and follows his career through the early '90's. Includes fascinating "sermons" of Bob's from when he was in his Christian phase in the late '70's and early 1980's. According to Bauldie, this book is the second in a series. The first book is called _All Across The Telegraph_ but I've never been able to find it anywhere

A good story plus an interview.......2007-01-10
I was priviledged to receive a pre production copy of this from Beau l'Amour and that satisfied me. I did however also get a final published copy and this excelled all expectations.
Don't expect a direct transcript of the novel because this treatment like any adaptation has to be varied to enable the story to be told in the new format. The essence of the novel has been maintained and the story moves quickly in the manner of "Old time Radio dramas"
The added bonus in this is CD three containing a "Making of" section where Beau L'Amour and his Technical Producer explain the process and the technical issues involved in the creation of this 2 CD production. This is then followed with a 30 minute fireside chat by Louis L'Amour himself.
This is a must for any L'Amour fan.
If You Like Audio Books or Radio Drama - You'll LOVE This!.......2005-08-09
Louis L'Amour's "Son of a Wanted Man" is an outstanding production on EVERY level. I have listened to all types of audio books and radio dramas and this is my absolute favorite. While the Publishers Weekly reviewer got caught up in the technology he completely missed what are IMHO some of the best performances I've ever heard! I began to believe that these characters were real and completely lost myself in the story and drama! The music was highly apporopriate both to the period and style of the show and added a deep sense of emotion without being distracting.
I'm not alone in my liking for this production. Jeff Davis from Audio Books Today says "The narration is done by Terrance Mann and is perfectly suited for this tale. Though his voice is not the usual raspy, western drawl you often hear with stories of the old west, his innocuous voice blends superbly with the story and sound effects. The transitional music also carries the story along with its vast, country feel. "
Son of a Wanted Man is listed as one of the TOP 10 by The Detroit News Entertainment Insider.
Library Bookwatch says "Fans of Westerns will relish Louis L'Amour's Son Of A Wanted Man."
In fact, nearly every review I have read seems to think this is an outstanding production worthy of a listen and I think its a bargain at its lower than usual price!
Awsome Audio - Wish Amazon Had the Right Text!!!.......2005-02-25
WOW! The only problem with the Amazon product description and reviews is that THEY ARE TOTALLY WRONG!!!!! This Dramatized Audio version of the Novel is somewhat different from the novel. According to the web site dedicated to this audio (www.sonofawantedman.com) the script was written by Louis L'Amour's son Beau and includes some changes.
As an audio fan I can tell you that this is the Rolls Royce of audio productions. It has a full cast of exciting actors playing all the roles, a great sound track and the sound effects are so realistic you won't believe it. I know I didn't. I put on the headphones and spent the next 3 hours totally enthralled!
The third CD is half "The Making Of" and half an interview with Louis L'Amour. According to the How To and the web site all of the sound effects were recorded specifically for this show and to ensure realism. Recorded digitally, this show is really clean with no noise and or hiss. In addition the editor creatively used pan and volume to create a three deminsional space.
I absolutely loved this show and I highly recommend it for anyone that likes good audio, whether you are a western fan or not!
A Great Western.......2003-12-30
Son of a Wanted Man is a captivating western that can hook anyone onto the Louis L'amour series. It leads the reader to feel compassion for the boy raised by outlaws to take over as the head of an outfit of robbers. But when the boy becomes a man and it's time to take over after his foster father, his conscience gets the best of him. He's not cut out to be a "bad man". Seeing that the leader of the outfit is stepping down, the men become anxious and power hungry and decide to act on their own. Son of a Wanted Man is full of suspense and leaves the reader feeling satisfied by the exciting ending.
Raised to be the new leader of the outlaws.......2003-11-18
"Son of a Wanted Man," by Louis L'Amour, was first published in 1984. Louis L'Amour is most known for his excellent Westerns, and this novel is no exception. The book is filled with gunfights, pursuits, and a little bit of romance as well.
Ben Curry was the mastermind of well-planed robberies from Canada to Mexico and from San Antone to Los Angeles. Because the robberies were so well planed, almost no clues were left behind. Tyrel Sackett and Borden Chantry begin to look deeper into these robberies and piece together the clues, because Sackett's town was recently robbed.
Ben Curry also planned ahead for his own retirement by raising an orphaned boy, Mike Bastian, as his son. Curry wanted Mike to take leadership of the outlaws, now that he felt Mike was ready. But did Mike want to follow in his foster father's footsteps? And to make matters worse for Mike, several of the outlaws didn't like the idea and would rather become the leader. With Sackett and Chantry looking into their activities, there is plenty of suspense and action in this book.

Friendly? Yes. Amazing? Maybe. Spectacular? Not so much........2007-09-29
A 2007 Summer reading list mini review.
In Spider-Man: Wanted: Dead or Alive, Craig Shaw Gardner blends a well known character with effective (at times) story telling and a solid concept. Peter Parker AKA Spiderman is entangled in a web (sorry, I could not resist.) of intrigue as a New York mobster tries to fix a mayoral election.
While it is an enjoyable read for any fan of the web slinger, there is also much left to be desired. The pacing and the plotting flounder at critical points. The inclusion of known super villains in sub plots is not a bad idea. The Electro story line works just fine. The inclusion of a world weary Rhino is a little troublesome. Rhino is a great character for a visual medium. He doesn't exactly make the same impression on the printed page.
I would not mind reading more exploits of Gardner's web head; I just hope they're more fluid.
This Book is Definitely Worth Whatever You Put Into Getting It..........2007-08-05
I love Spider-Man, but I've only read a couple of the comics. When I saw this book a few years ago, I thought it might be kind of stupid, but I'd give it a chance. I started reading it and definitely could not put it down. This book was AMAZING. I lost it somewhere in my house, and even though I already read it, I plan on buying it again so I can read it again. It's really that good. :) I highly recommend buying it if you enjoy books that keep your heart racing and leave you never wanting to put them down.
Peace - Mira
Good Story.......2003-08-04
Good story but one of the worst Spider-Man novels that I have read. I don't know what was going through the authors mind. He had a good story but the book lagged "puzazs!" The book dragged and the story jumped around between charactors every paragraph. I was truly dissapointed with this one.
A good read for hardcore AND beginner Spidey fans........2002-07-25
My sister picked this book up for me about a week back, and I was interested to check into it, it being my first Spider-man novel. And boy, I was pleasently surprised. There is only so much one can do, with taking a comic-book character, and bringing it into a 300 page book. But Gardner really did a nice job of taking the usual characteristics of Spider-man, and adding some interesting new ideas.
This book has a solid plot, revolving around a mayoral candidate's tie-ins with a big crime-boss. When the mayoral candidate's infamous campaign manager Michael Luce is violently sleign in a dark alley in the company of Spider-man, Spider-man is quickly thrown into the hat of suspects for his murder. Meanwhile, the man behind it all has also hired Spider-man foes Electro and Rhino to add some extra trouble to the mix.
All-in-all, the book has it's minor flaws. Namely Rhino's entire spot in the book. He is kind of just 'there.' He never really ends up having any relevence, or even a big part, in the book. But the book evolves the plot from cover to cover, and offers a very nice ending.
Any hardcore Spidey fans will enjoy this interesting tale of Spidey on the run from some underground wrong-doings, and any 'beginner' fans are sure to enjoy it as well.
Dont bother.......2002-05-30
I picked up this book with very high hopes. Since almost every other Spider-Man novel i've read were great, my expectations were to high for Wanted Dead or Alive. The plot is pretty lame at times, even darn right confusing. The Rhino shouldnt have even been brought into the story at all, since he served almost no pourpose to keep the action going, well, whatever little action you actually get to read. This is a poor excuse for a Spider-Man novel, it's collecting dust in my closet right now.
