Book Description
The famous soprano, Lottie English, is –– unbeknownst to anyone –– really the Lady Charlotte Hughes. Colin has been admiring Lottie from afar for almost three years when he finally decides to ask her to be his mistress. Instead, Lady Charlotte suggests they marry so that he can finance a European tour for her, and he can have her legally. Colin agrees, and soon discovers someone at the theater is trying to hurt her. But it's only when her dressing room is vandalized does Charlotte reveal that she possesses a rare, unpublished piece by George Handel that she supsects is the reason for all the violence. Fortunately, Colin secretly works for the government as a forger, and together they concoct a plan to set up the thief. As they work together, they discover true love in the face of danger.

A Steamy Read.......2007-09-10
I enjoyed this book. While agreeing with some of the other reviewers who point out plot holes, I didn't mind them enough to stop reading. I thought the characters were well developed and believable. More importantly, I thought the sex scenes were inventive and very steamy. Not at all the usual fare you get in a Regency romance. I found this one hard to put down!
Loooooved it!.......2007-09-05
I loved this book....looooved it. Obviously some people have very different taste in what they think is a good and substantially well written book. But I waited a long time for this book and was not disappointed. The plot was different for me and pulled me in completely. The tension was there. The character development was strong. I never got bored and thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was a keeper and I was enthralled. I won't go into a big, heavy review as others have. I just wanted to get my two cents in. It was worth it to me and I will read it again. It also sizzled which is always a plus too! If you like Adele's book then I think you should like this one as well.
The Duke's Indiscretion .......2007-08-13
Lady Charlotte Hughes lives a double life. By day, she is the plain demure sister of a domineering brother who wants nothing more than to have her married and out of the way. By night, she is Lottie English, an intoxicating, glamorous woman of mystery, a famed opera singer who drives men wild with the wanting of her. But the only man Charlotte wants is Colin Ramsey, Duke of Newark, though the dashing nobleman would certainly never risk his reputation on a woman like her. Imagine her shock when the duke reveals himself as a smitten fan and while attempting to seduce her, also discovers her true identity.
Charlotte will submit to the handsome duke's every wish, but only as his wife, a proposal Colin eagerly accepts. But his secret duty to the Crown, to expose Charlotte's nemesis, threatens the fiery passion that consumes them. And when Charlotte herself is suddenly in danger, Colin must choose where his loyalties lie and risk everything for the incredible lady who has thoroughly captured his heart.
The Duke's Indiscretion is the third and final installment in the bestselling Duke's Trilogy and Adele Ashworth takes it out with a BANG!!! Beautifully written characters, exquisite scenery and a plot that never stops, Ms. Ashworth delivers to her readers a story that will warm their hearts and touch their senses. Charlotte and Colin are perfect lovers and fairly burn the pages with their passion. I felt that the secondary characters were very important to the plot and give rather than take away from the storyline. Adele Ashworth is always exciting to read and never disappoints.

Letdown.......2007-07-24
The book had promise. I thought the premise was good. A Duke who secretly works for the Crown falls in lust with an opera singer who happens to be the sister of an Earl? Great. I enjoyed the first 2 chapters and then...wham...what happened? Lets start by finding out he's been in lust with her for 3 YEARS. 3 YEARS?!?! Why did it take him so long? I thought he was a rake of some esteem but sheesh. Then he goes to visit Charlotte (on the pretense of checking out her brother) and he doesn't recongize her as Lottie? Some spy he is. I had hopes for Charlotte too. I thought Lotte was great and couldn't wait to see how she develops. But nooo. After marrying the Duke she turns into some kind of prude. After a wedding night from hell, she will not let him touch her and then they try to seduce each other.
I couldn't finish it. I got half way and had to put it away. It didn't grab me like I thought it would. I didn't read the other 2 books in the trilogy and if this is a sample of her work, I don't think I'll waste my money. I have many other authors of Regency romance that I like who are much better. I'll buy their books.
Final book in the Duke's Trilogy.......2007-06-27
The Duke's Indiscretion by Adele Ashworth is a historical romance with a layer of mystery. Colin Ramsey, Duke of Newark has been infatuated with Lottie English the famous opera singer. He finally approaches her to become his mistress after 3 years. The twist is that Lottie English is really Lady Charlotte Hughes and Charlotte wants marriage and someone to bank roll her career. This book has some great moments but it just wasn't my favoriate.
Check out the whole Duke Trilogy; Duke of Sin (1), Duke of Scandal (2). Looking forward to her next book Passion in Winter due out Spring 2008.

The Price of Idiocy.......2007-07-13
I don't usually right reviews, but I need to vent about this book. The story itself wasn't half bad, but I could not stand either Miranda or Alex. Miranda was self-centered, indecisive, and moronic. Alex was equally self-centered, indecisive and moronic. One moment he's wearing his native-american collar to show he doesn't care what others think, and the next minute he's wishing he was full white to appease Miranda.
As far as I'm concerned these two suck and they probably deserve each other. I hope Charlotte and the Duke are not as thoroughly unlikeable in their story.
Not up to standard..........2006-03-07
I am a fan of Caty Maxwell and I was a bit disappointed with this book. It started fine, but there was little interest later in the book. I didn't warm to the main characters and there was too much jumping back and forth. In the end I was starting to root for the other guy.
It is still a pleasant read, even if the ending didn't leave you feeling warm and fuzzy. I can't say I fell in love with the characters, but I am looking forward to Charlotte's book. Hopefully she will show 'em how its done!
Good Read.........2006-01-26
Good read... I enjoyed the story, but have been more comfortable with Ms. Maxwell's other books..The Seduction of an English Lady , and The Temptation of A Proper Governess..
Should be called "The Price Of Selfishness!".......2005-10-23
One of the absolute worst books I've ever read! The main characters were both spoiled, and incredibly self centered. The minor characters were poorly developed, but equally self centered.
The book starts slow and continues at that pace. I kept reading hoping that once they got to London things would get better, but they didn't.
Reading this book is like having a friend in a toxic relationship. You keep wanting them to come to their senses... end it, and move on. Unfortunately the heroine decides she must have the hero... and ruins everyone in order to have what she wants. You end the book feeling sorry for everyone, and glad to reach the end. (I actually skimmed the last 20 pages or so because I no longer liked either of the main characters enough to be at all happy for them).
Now I see this is going to be a trilogy with book two featuring her ruined sister... (the one who cared more about titles than anything else). Count me out!!!
I loved this book!!.......2005-10-23
I started this book while I was on vacation with my family. Six Flaggs over Texas and Hurrican Harbour! I very fun packed vacation. Since we live 8 hours from there, long drives make for great reading time. I COULD NOT put the book down! It bothered me to have to stop reading during pit stops along the way! I loved this book and I love Cathy Maxwell's writing! I felt like I was there and I had feelings for these charactors. I felt compassion and got excited in my reading. What are you people expecting that didn't like this book? Why don't YOU guys write one if you think you can do better!?! Like I said, I was pulling this book out of my bag while we were waiting to be seated at the restruant, I was reading it while the kids were swimming, I took it everywhere I went and as a result, it is now tore up and weathered looking! (But I never let my freinds borrow my books anyway. I always tell them that it is a good book and they need to go get a copy!) My mother and my freind in Utah both bought one and both really liked it as well.
Cathy Maxwell - you keep up the great work of writing romance and know that I will buy every book you publish!

Sequel to "The Indignities of Isabelle".......2005-07-31
Isabelle's back, and it seems like everyone's got her. Now entering her second year at Oxford, everyone's favorite dominatrix/slut is looking for entrance into a seemingly legendary lesbian society known as "The Rattaners". Along the way, she undergoes trials of sex, submission and self-discovery. Oh yeah, and spanking; lots and lots of spanking! Hotter than hot, my rating is 10/10.
man oh man...........................2004-12-27
man oh man this is a friggin' sexy read....... i couldn't put it down. this book kept me turned on the whole time. Indiscretions of Isabelle is HOT HOT HOT HOT HOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Indiscretions a winner!.......2004-04-27
A great Penny Birch Book! It's a continuation of Isabelle's story, and very well done. If you liked "Indignities of Isabelle", you're sure to like this one. The story picks up where the last one left off, and goes forward from there. There's a bit more activity from Stan Tierney, one of many dirty men, both old and young, and lots of female domination, submission, humiliation and the misuse of food products. A lot of fun, but always with a good, sharp edge to it. Isabelle is, in my estimation, right up there with Amber Oakley as a Penny Birch character, so if you like Amber, you'll love Isabelle. There is a poker game scene in this book that is to die for. There are many other great scrapes that Isabelle and others find themselves in, all to my delight. Penny's writing never gets stale, and this book is no exception. I think she maintains her high quality because of her empathy for her well-drawn, three-dimensional, all-too-human characters; she really cares for them, which makes it all believable, but, boy, does she put Isabelle in some nasty situations. It's great, and should be a part of anyone's Penny Birch collection. B.

Book Description
The drama and passion of Scotland filled every page of Jillian Hunter's "funny, touching, sexy, and tender" (Romantic Times) novel Delight. Now she brings a twist of intrigue to an enchanting Highland love story of heartfelt desire and mist-shrouded secrets.
The scandal of Anne Kerr's foolish, stormy affair with a Scottish nobleman's son was averted when her parents quickly married her off to the scoundrel's cousin, a respectable English baron. A widow now, Anne has never forgotten Patrick Sutherland, who had seduced and abandoned -- and indeed, disgraced -- her, no matter how she tries to lose her feelings in her furious horse rides across the heath. But even a woman of Anne's spirit can't ignore a royal summons that reunites her with Patrick under dire and mysterious circumstances.
The suspicious death of a relative calls for a clandestine investigation inside a Highland hunting fortress. Anne and Patrick find themselves commanded by Queen Victoria to lay rumors of murder to rest. Anne sees nothing but trouble and temptation in the Queen's order to work with the rogue who shamed her.
To Patrick, however, the chance to serve as Anne's bodyguard is a dream come true. But even the best dream can take a wicked twist...and when he learns he is not to pose as her ladyship's protector, but as her butler, the proud Highlander must helplessly submit as Anne exacts the delicious revenge he deserves for breaking her heart.
Customer Reviews:
Just Not My Cup of Tea!.......2005-02-27
There is a really interesting story buried inside of "Indiscretion"--but it never has a chance to get out into the daylight. Jillian Hunter, striving for a very light touch, packs the story with silly situations and "sit-com" style conversational zingers which, in my humble opinion, make the story less than it could be. However, if that sort of story *is* your cup of tea, prepare to be entertained.
Anne Kerr was a beautiful, lonely and wild young girl when she met and was seduced by the handsome, reckless, devil-may-care Patrick Sutherland. When Patrick goes off to join the infantry, a devastated Anne ends up marrying his cousin, David. Seven years later, Anne (now a widow) and Patrick are brought together again by the order of Queen Victoria--supposedly to investigate the death of Patrick's uncle, Lord Kingairn, that occurred at a shooting party on Anne's estate one year previously. Now this is a pretty flimsy set-up to bring the hero and heroine together, but the real lynchpin of the plot is that Patrick is to pose as Anne's butler during the investigation--supposedly so that he can question the servants more easily.
I found the beginning of the book to be very heavy going--it took me *days* to get through the first 100 pages, and that for me is *forever*! The investigation is arranged by the Queen and Patrick's eccentric Aunt Nellwyn while Anne constantly snipes away at Patrick and Patrick murmurs suggestive remarks into Anne's ear (very frequently they do both in front of other people!) Then Patrick takes on the role of the butler and the book veers towards slapstick comedy. He is one heck of a rude, irreverent butler and *some* of his remarks are witty--but not enough of them to sustain the farce (in my opinion).
Anne is an interesting character and one that should have inspired sympathy (ruined and abandoned by her thoughtless lover as a young girl); however, she is so very nasty and bitter almost throughout the book that she is a little bit hard to like. In contrast, Patrick, who should be censured for his less than honorable behavior in his youth, is a delightful character--repentant, charming and passionate--a viscount who is willing to masquerade as a butler in order to be close to Anne. Frankly, I thought that the best parts of the book were the flashback scenes to Anne and Patrick's day of "indiscretion"--which had more passion and heart than the rest of the story.
In summary, this is a very light historical romance set in Victorian times with a minimal dusting of a murder mystery, a big streak of comedy and an engagingly imperfect hero.
A Major Disappointment!.......2004-07-09
I was looking forward to read this book. It took me a very long time to find it. It turned out to be so bad that I threw the book across the room. The plot about the uncle's death is sadly bad. So Anne and Patrick set out to find the cause of the death. I was fine with that. Anne still hold a grudge agaisnt Patrick after all those years, for what??? She wanted a liasion with him, she got it. She rode to the meeting spot with him, welcomed his touches. Anne complains and whines, if I was Patrick, I would dump her on the spot. And I just don't understand the problem between these two. There's no real chemistry between these two, I was waiting for a big chemistry explodsion somewhere in the middle of the book. However, the more I read it, the more I look for it, the more I was like, get to it! get to it! And it never get to it. It was a very fast read because there wasn't much in it to read slowly. By the end of the book, I was like, come on people! It's just not realistic. I read very good reviews for this book and I just cannot find the goodness that everyone found in it. It's merely my opinion. Read it if you want.
Enjoy a Wonderful and Funny Indiscretion!.......2003-07-02
Whenever I've picked up a book by Jillian Hunter I know I am not going to be disappointed and "Indiscretion" - is again a testament to that fact. In a nutshell, Anne Kerr was labeled as fast and wild as a young girl. An unhappy home life made her wild and crazy horse rides across the moorlands food for fodder and the gossips had a field day. In a very impetuous moment - and possibly as an act of rebellion she arranged to meet the local noblemens son and `bad boy' Patrick Sutherland, for an afternoon delight! She innocently gave herself and her love thinking that it meant something to him, but for Patrick the loss of his mother and the apparent disdain of his father for his wild ways only spurred his rebellion. He just didn't think beyond that day, although to his credit he told her that should she become pregnant to contact him. He was sent away only to find a few months later that Anne had been married off to his cousin David.
Seven years later, Anne is now a widow whose mourning period has passed. Queen Victoria has summoned her for an audience. Who should she run into but the man who broke her heart - who as it happens has also been summoned for an audience with the queen. Queen Victoria, on the advice of her `advisor' requested that Anne and her cousin by marriage - Patrick - travel to Anne's Scotland estate to investigate the suspicious death of Patrick's Uncle Edgar and naturally, Anne's uncle by marriage. The whispered witty dialog as the plans were made that both Patrick and Anne had going back and forth were simply too, too funny. Patrick was all for the plan - Anne thought it horrendous - until the queen informed them that her `advisor' thought Patrick could travel incognito, so to speak, as none other than Anne's butler! You will just laugh yourself silly over Patrick's portrayal of the most irreverent butler you have ever seen as he tries to romance his way back into Anne's life!
Patrick, as a butler was a stroke of genius, and the numerous and colorful secondary characters, especially Patrick's very feisty, no-nonsense Aunt Nellwyn - who just happened to be Queen Victoria's `advisor' - is a gem. The plot is totally fresh and the flashbacks to Anne and Patrick's one very, very sensual indiscretion was delightful to say the least! Sit back, grab this book and totally enjoy this one very stimulating `indiscretion' !

Book Description
In a moment of madness, Ali Kingston, wife and mother of three, skips work to spend the day with Christian, a gorgeous street artist fifteen years her junior. Midlife crisis or whatever, it escalates when Ali's husband, Ed, equates her minor indiscretion with a major affair and kicks her out into the rainy night. . . and Christian's open arms. Soon thirty-eight-year-old Ali is ensconced in a Notting Hill love nest wondering how to introduce her children to the charismatic Christian, who could easily have been her teenage daughter's boyfriend rather than her own.
Meanwhile back at the ranch house in suburban Richmond, Ed is also facing unanticipated temptations, as two younger women compete to console him for the loss of his wife, while family and friends attempt to reunite him with Ali. . . with deliciously droll results. Then a disconcerting event forces both Ed and Ali to decide what they really want -- from themselves, from each other and from life itself.
From the USA TODAY bestselling author of the "Reading with Ripa" Book Club pick For Better, For Worse comes a provocative tale of midlife temptation, told with incomparable warmth, wit and wisdom by one of Britain's brightest romantic comediennes.

Lack of communication leads to a major indiscretion.......2006-05-31
Ali captures the eye of much-younger artist Christian at a cafe and the two enter into a harmless flirtation. When she forgoes work to spend the day with Christian, and her son is injured at school, Ed is called to the hospital since no one can locate Ali. When she arrives home, and Ed discovers that she spent the day with another man, he is livid and throws her out of the house without so much as a discussion. She attempts to stay with her sister Jemma, who is not home, and with no money, finds herself on Christian's overpopulated doorstep.
Ed sees the err of his ways the next morning, and goes to Jemma's house only to find Ali is not there. When she finally turns up, she admits that she is staying with Christian and despite the relationship being minor the day before, they have now slept together, forever changing the course of her destiny. Christian is a typical 20-something. He has little ambition, no money, and squats in a Victorian flat with his fellow pals, including a former lover. Suddenly playing weekend daddy was not what he signed on for.
Ed manages to find a couple women willing to help him forget his errant wife including a producer who wants him to move to the US to make blockbusters, and his son's teacher, who is not quite as innocent as she seems. But his heart still belongs to Ali, though both are too stubborn to admit their feelings. While life with Christian is filled with sensuality, he is awkward with her children and is more of a playmate than a parent; his lack of judgment has disastrous consequences.
As family members scheme to get them back together, led by their precocious nusery-schooler, it is an unexpected tragedy that forces them to address the events that caused the breakdown of their relationship and determine if it is worth salvaging.
Matthews has penned an emotionally jarring story of a woman on the verge of 40 looking for a little excitement, and getting much more than she bargained for. It starts out light and soon takes a dark turn, which is more lifelike than your average romantic plot. Some readers may want to conk Ali and Ed on the head for their stubbornness and lack of communication skills.
A Minor Indiscretion made Major.......2006-02-07
The indiscretion of a kiss from the main character, Ali, with a younger guy, turns into a major ordeal. It also turns into a majorly long novel. The first mistake of her minor indiscretion was admitting it to her husband, Ed. He hasn't admitted to her the full fledged affair he previously had to his wife. The major characters, Ali, Ed, and Chrisitan the young lover are all stubborn, in the biggest way, their refusal to change.
When Ed decides he cannot handle Ali's minor indiscretion he throws her out. After a failed attempt to move in with her sister, she has only one place to turn, the young lad she shared a kiss with, and his flatmates. She soon finds out the emotions she was feeling in a trying time were lust not love with Christian. Christian refuses to grow up, giving her children drugs and being a squatter. Christian is not there for her when she needs him the most.
It takes a major health crisis for Ed and Ali to realize that they need each other.
This book is very long, but no matter which frustrations you have with all three main characters, one is compelled to read it until the end.
Starts off with great promise, however the characters disappointed me........2006-01-03
This book grabbed me right away because I related to Ali's feelings of being in a middle-aged slump, harried from the duties of motherhood and marriage, especially when her children seemed unappreciative and her husband seemed indifferent and distant. I can only image how flattered she felt by the attention of a handsome young artist; as though she regained her own identity and wasn't only viewed as an extension of her family. It's even understandable that she played hookey from work to spend a day with Christian (although she should have called in rather than been a no-show), especially when he so persistantly and persuasively insisted that there was no harm in just being friends. Honestly, I was very prepared to like Ali as a character and to sympathize with her plight.
However, everything spun out of control in a totally negative direction once her husband Ed tossed her out without listening to her side of the story nor giving her the benefit of the doubt. It is unconscionable that she'd move in with Christian at this point rather than humbly return home to work things out with Ed. I grew very impatient with Ali's irresponsibly, especially towards her children. I can't imagine a mother being so selfish. As well, I wanted to clobber both Ed and Ali for their stubborness and self-centered behavior, and smack some sense into Christian for his attitude as well. No one really considered the children's feelings in all this. This middle part of the story seemed to drag on.
For a book to evoke such powerful feelings, it must be very well-written! It's obvious the author is very a very talented story-teller and a very witty writer. Although I didn't like the turns the plot took and I don't approve with the actions of the characters, I still feel this was a worthwhile and thought-provoking book to read, bringing to light the consequences of one's impulsive and selfish actions.
Older Woman /Younger Man.......2005-09-28
Have you ever fantasized that a handsome younger man would find you attractive and sweep you off your feet? Then this is the book for you. With a husband and children, life is complicated and there are no easy answers, not even in a book that is for the most part a humorous romance. Readers might find themselves wondering what they would do, along with the main character, as she tries to decide if she likes her exciting new life, or if she wants her old life back. The angst and confusion add to this fun story.
What in the heck?!?.......2004-03-06
I've enjoyed this author's other books. I really don't know what was going on with this one, though. There are so many discrepencies... One of the character's hair color changed by the end of the book, with no appointment at the salon. The author has no clue about Harry Potter, or Barney. There are too many to go into here. All of the little things coupled with a slow, ridiculous story equaled a poor read. Don't waste your time!!!

Book Description
When your father is a man of expensive tastes and schemes but very little money, you soon learn to make do. So when Captain Fortune, a well-meaning but profligate ex-soldier in Regency England, tells his daughter Caroline that they are ruined, she automatically starts seeking employment as a governess. Her father, however, has far grander designs for Miss Fortune.…
Caro is to become the companion of Mrs. Catling, the rich, fierce widow of her father’s old colonel. As Mrs. Catling amuses herself by tormenting her relatives and servants, Caro resolves to make the best of the situation, and soon her beauty and intelligence attract the attentions of male admirers.
Surrounded by people with an alarming readiness to reveal each other’s confidences, Caroline is exasperated to find herself implicated in their indiscretions. But will Miss Fortune be able to avoid losing her reputation without losing her head? And will she find at least one good man amongst the genteel set who will take her side, and, indeed, her fancy?

"Indiscretion"- thumbs up.......2007-07-06
I love Victorian novels. This excellent Victorian type novel fits perfectly and is so Jane Austen-like. It was just delicious reading for me. I look forward to reading "Passion" by Jude Morgan. Victorian authors I have loved are Dickens, Anthony Trollope, George Eliot, Wilkie Collins and E.F. Benson's "Mapp and Lucia" series(altho not Victorian era)
Wonderful book!.......2007-07-01
I whipped through this book even though I am not usually a fan of regency books. The characters in this book are wonderful though and if a sequel were possible, I would implore Jude Morgan to write one!
Clever Attempt at Jane Austen.......2007-04-09
Jude Morgan's novel, Indiscretion, reads a lot like Jane Austen, just with a little more scandal, and a little less pomp. Unlike other period novels, Indiscretion does not gloss up history with sex, flirtation, and coy writing, but sticks close to the modest fiction of that time period. The novel draws many parallels to books of the same genre by Regency authors: the wealthy, upper class; a young, outspoken woman; marriage, engagement, elopement, etc.
It follows Caroline Fortune, or Miss Fortune, for a little play on words, whose father's bad habits with money force her to take a position as a companion to an elderly woman. Reminiscent of the strong, battle-axe widows of other literature, acting as companion is no easy job for Caroline, though with the usual wit and spirit of most heroines, she manages to fare well enough through honesty and strength.
A change in circumstances brings her to the country among relatives, where romance unfolds, scandals take place, and indiscretion abounds, but all with the same wordy, descriptive phrases and subtle hints that make Austen such a joy. For those of us who love Austen, Morgan does a good job of breathing spirit back into the genre and reminding us of the beautiful world of haughty morals, spirited young women, and marriage.
I'd give it three-and-a-half if I could..........2007-03-22
Don't get me wrong, this was entertaining, but so much of it was SO predictable, and stoeln straight from Jane Austen. ((I won't put spoilers here.)) Worth a read, but not original enough.
Truly a delight.......2007-03-19
As other reviewers have said, this book is a must for Jane Austen and Georgette Heyer fans. What a romantic novel should be, but seldom is.

Pretty good...if unrealistic.......1999-07-17
I've read this book more than once. It keeps moving from the first page all the way to the end. My only criticism is that the plot is a bit unrealistic. Everyone just happens to be incredibly beautiful, everyone lives as if they are very wealthy (even if they are supposed to be poor), and it is just way too easy to meet the richest man in the world at a casual dinner party. The book is entertaining and great for a quick, easy read.

Customer Reviews:
Enjoyable Indiscretions.......2007-08-27
The description on the back of the book doesn't even begin to explain this complex, yet, intriguing tale that Mrs. Donna Hill has so elegantly spun for our enjoyment. All it states is the following: "Khendra Phillips is at the height of her legal career when the handsome, smooth-talking attorney Sean Michaels bursts onto the scene and threatens to capture not only her love but her career in the legal field as well. Khendra's heartbroken past reminds her how much love can hurt and betray. Can she combat both the demons that plague her heart as well as the ensuing bitterness toward the man who shattered her dreams?"~~~~~~~With so little to go on, I must admit I brought the book because of the catchy title and the handsome looking fella on the front cover.~~~~~~~That being said I was not disappointed in my pick! I thoroughly enjoyed this novel and could not put it down from the moment I picked it up. I was up until 3:30 a.m. reading it. Well worth the bags under my eyes! The characters were definitely memorable. And the storyline flowed effortlessly. There were a few typos, but it didn't hinder the flow of the story. The instant heat and passion between Khendra and Sean was definitely sizzlin'. Sean was quite the irresistible and relentless charmer and you couldn't help but fall victim to all his sweet, smooth talking ways. And then, you couldn't help but despise him when you felt the sting of his betrayal and how he "played" Khendra...or did he?!!!! This story had so many exciting twists and turns I couldn't help but get caught up in what could only be described as an AMAZINGLY thrilling ride of romance and mystery. KUDOS to you, Mrs. Hill!
~I LOVED THIS BOOK!!~.......2001-06-14
Donna Hill never lets her readers down. 'Indiscretions' has it all, mystery, romance, and a passion to die for. As a successful attorney, Khendra Phillips faces the hardest trial of her career when she is asked to defend the man that she loves, Sean Michaels. Even though Khendra knows in her heart that Sean is innocent of murder, she still can't find it in her heart to trust him after he takes the promotion in the law firm that she was expecting to get. Sean Michaels is also a succesful attorney with a few secrets in his past that come back to haunt him. The one thing that he doesn't keep a secret is his feelings for Khendra. He is determined to do whatever it takes to win her back.
This book was too good to put down. Don't think about starting it unless you have time to finish, you will not want to put it down either. The passion alone makes this book a keeper. If you enjoy this, try and find a copy of 'Rooms of the Heart' also by Donna Hill.

Customer Reviews:
Truly enjoyable novel - I loved every moment with Jackie and Valerie.......2005-11-19
And really enjoyed Carla & BJ (Would love to read more about BJ - in fact, I would love to read a collection short story sequels of this authors novels - that would be delightful). The story was unique and had the characters in intense as well humorous as well as sexy situations. The characters are truly likable and human (Collin was a bit of a cartoon but guess that is intentional). The writing is wonderful and story addictive. This was a real pager turner and I read it in one sitting. Even the last page was delicious.
My emotions were so strong for Jackie, life had thrown her some cruel blows and she took them all with grace and dignity. I liked it that she had such great friends who cared so deeply for her. And I especially liked how captivated Valerie was with Jackie and pursued her goal with determination that I admired. The romance was delectably sexy and never gratuitous. in fact i found the number of romantic interludes limited (although totally hot) considering the theme of the story.
This was a wonderful story to read by the fire or on a hammock in the sun.
Don't miss this book!
A Moment's Indiscretion.......2005-05-26
Last night I stayed up until I read the final page. "A moments indiscretion by Peggy J. Herring is not only well written and all the words are spelled correctly lol, it capured my heart and for several wonderful hours I lost myself inside of the lives of Jackie & Valerie, Carla & BJ and Collin & Ben. I fell right into there lives and lived it with them. What a welcome relief from life. Laughing and crying right along with them. Learning to love again is what alot of us need to read. with hot romantic scenes. I would highly recommend anyone with a loving heart and soul to read this wonderful book.
Why can't I choose 6 stars???.......2005-04-23
Some of the other reviewers suggest this story is a little far fetched. I might be inclined to agree, but it's a fictional romance and I don't mind -- they're supposed to be like that. Jackie lives in a decrepit house she wants to sell, can't keep a girlfriend, and loves her demanding job. After a party at her home, she meets a woman (D.J.) who falls for her best friend (Carla) and agrees to fix up the house in exchange for a place to stay. One of D.J.'s friends (Valerie) is hired at Jackie's office to help out. Val lets Jackie know she's interested, but Jackie doesn't date coworkers (or anyone for that matter). Valerie's only choice is to quit the job so Jackie doesn't have any excuses. Jackie reluctantly agrees to a date and that starts things moving in the right direction.
After Jackie admits she's fallen in love, she discovers Valerie has a husband. What a shock to her heart! It seems she's surrounded by lies and deception, but Valerie won't let her get away.
This storyline is original, enjoyable, and intense. The relationship is complicated (aren't they all...) and the sex is hot. It certainly follows the storyteller's golden rule (every story must have a happy ending) and keeps the reader's attention. Highly recommended for those who want a pleasant and tantalizaing momentary escape from reality.
Unique story.......2001-11-25
You'll have to look a long time to find a story that has as many different situations that might be plausible by themselves, but seem to make a story implausible when you put them all together. Granted there are women who have had bad relationships and have difficulty recovering from them. There are gay men who are afraid to come out to their families. There are gay men and lesbian women who maintain sham marriages for appearance sake. And there are older lesbians who find it difficult to accept that a much younger woman would be interested in them. It takes a really good story to put all of this together and make it come out sounding even slightly possible. And the ending will stretch credibility even more. It is a good story though and Herring uses her usual touch to create really romantic, steamy scenes. This story might just be true for someone somewhere. At any rate, it's still a good story.
Too unbelievable, even for the romance genre.......2001-08-22
Peggy J. Herring certainly knows how to make her novels hot and sexy but this one is so unbelievable. THe things that happen and that you find out able Valerie fall into the realm of the 'Twilight Zone' and the happily ever after is just too sugary to be believed. Great love scenes, though, if that's all you're intereted in but too far out even for me.

Not what I expected, but fun........2007-08-09
I heard the author interviewed on a Chicago radio station and was enthralled. Ordered the book for my husband and was disappointed as I expected it to be a real "read" as opposed to a book that you skim. It's filled with little short paragraphs - more like a bathroom reader than a novel. Yet subject matter is interesting. Just not what I expected.
This book is worth it!.......2000-08-18
A friend told me about this book and I must say that I was more than pleased with it. For anyone interested in politics and government, or just enjoys humor, this book is great! The hilarious situations and notable quotes will keep you reading for hours, although this book is great to read bits at a time.
