Heaven by Randy Alcorn.......2007-10-10
I purchased this book because I wanted to learn more about Heaven. My husband died July 25, 2006. This book has given me so much to hope for. I know I will see my husband again. I know now that we will continue our relationship in Heaven and be able to enjoy all the wonderful things we enjoyed together only in Heaven they will be even better. Our reserected new earth will be such a joy to behold. I gave my first book "Heaven" by Randy Alcorn to friend of mine who was going through the same thing with her husband (both had brain cancer). I wanted her to find the same hope that I had in reading this book. I purchased a second book from Amazon and am so very glad I did. I would recommend this book very highly to anyone who is interested in learning the blessings that God has promised his children in Heaven.
A Great Gift.......2007-10-02
I bought this as a gift for my mother. She really likes the way the author described Heaven. She never looked at Heaven in this way before.
Heaven.......2007-09-18
I found Dr. Alcorn's book, Heaven, very enlightening. It answered questions for me. He addressed many of the questions that I have had since the death of my son. His answers were based on scripture and he was honest in his beliefs. We can only know from what God has said in his word and that is always left up to interpretation. I pray that Dr. Alcorn is right in his analysis. His book brought me comfort and peace.
I can't wait to get to Heaven.......2007-09-02
Randy Alcorn challelnges popular notions of heaven in thought provoking yet easy to understand style without sacrificing scholarly integrity. He cites numerous scripture passages as well as Biblical scholars to support his thesis and lays out a much richer and more interesting eternity than most of us have ever imagined. I highly recommend this book. It will provoke interesting discussions and force you to closely examine your notion of heaven.
Heaven by Randy Alcorn.......2007-09-01
There are many books written on the subject Heaven, this book is the very best on that subject. The author stays with scripture like he should and makes the reading simple enough to stay interested. When you read this book it makes heaven beyond your wildest dreams. Its a place you don't want to miss.

Most people would be left destitute if they planned their futures as carelessly as theyve prepared for eternity. Drawing on the principles in 2 Corinthians 5:911, John Bevere reminds us that all believers will stand before God and receive what they have earned in life. In building their lives to be ready for that day, and maintaining an eternal frame of reference, readers will develop significant lives. In keeping sight of the goal, readers will learn to labor for rewards that endurefor timeless eternity.

This book is awesome!! It is a MUST read for anyone wishing to get closer to God. The video study series is absolutely the ultimate. I would recommend this series to anyone.
Driven By Eternity.......2007-08-05
This is an eye opening book. It is not only well written, but it hits home on a topic that many people today need to reevaluate.
I loved it and recommend it highly.
A must for anyone desiring to mature as a Christian.......2007-07-23
Before I read the book I heard Brother Bevere preaching. I then bought a set that included this book, the CD's for "Affabel" as well as video presentation and one of his novels. I was impacted by his message from the beggining.
The whole subject of this book is that our present life is nothing when compared with eternity. Based on this premised, we must do our best on this life to first, to be save, and second, to ensure that we secure the rewards that God has for us in his Kingdom.
These rewards are not just "spiritual" but real they are promised in the Scripture. Bevere starts his book by presenting the allegory of the Kingdom of Affabel, which he uses as an allegory of this life and the coming Kingdom of Christ. The characters of the story represent various forms on which people approach the Christian faith, both voirtous and others fallacious as they do not adhere to the Scripture. At the en of the allegory the chareacters face King Jalyl, and receive what they deserve for how they lived their lifes.
Bevere goes on and makes a case for how most of Christians -and obviously those who are not- waste most of their lives building and working on things that are not of etenrnal significance. By using the Affabel allegory and using the holy Bible to support his teachings, Brother Bevere demonstrates what the Bible says about eternity, how people are actually living it, and how really we should see it. He also tell us what God expect from us and the benefits of us following His Will and Plan.
I found this book life changing. I recommend this book to anybody and everybody, whether you are a believer or not. If you are a believer, you will shape up and start to put something in your "account" with God, otherwise all your hard work will be gone when tested by God's purifying fire. If you are not a Christian, well, you need to "open" an account, becasue otherwise everything there will be nothing left for you, other than eternal punishment.
Very impressive - with one MAJOR flaw.......2007-07-21
There is a lot to recommend in this book. Bevere makes a compelling case for filtering all of one's thoughts, words and actions through the light of eternity. Good stuff! And he writes better than most. Why just three stars, then? For a major doctrinal flaw. Bevere devotes one entire chapter to his conviction that it is possible to lose one's salvation by one's actions. His "proof" of this contention is utterly unconvincing, as any teaching outside Christian orothodoxy would be. I was flabbergasted - if he's wrong about this, what else is in error? It's difficult to recommend for this reason alone. The book with the offending chapter excised would be worth five stars, easily.
EXCELLENT 5 STAR BOOK.......2007-07-20
John Bevere earns nothing but praises- this may be his best book yet. If you are looking for some "meat" to chew on, once again John Bevere provides it in this AWESOME book. You cant put the book down- A must for
every serious Christians library.

Three and a Half Stars.......2007-09-01
Following an incident in her employer's house, Abby Barlow has become the Chalice. She and Dante (the Chalice's vampire protector) set out to discover how this has happened and if there is any way for this process to be reversed.
I've been reading a lot of first books in a series, recently, and this (Book 1 of the Guardians of Eternity) is a definite improvement on most of them.
The book starts with a bang, and the plot doesn't let up 'til about page 180. Unfortunately because it starts at this breakneck speed it does have some uneven pacing, with the middle of the book lagging a little before picking up again.
The characters are well written and there is an undeniable chemistry between Dante and Abby. Dante has a dry sense of humour, with which he is only too happy, to provoke Abby. And the banter between the pair really brings them to life. Though I could have done without being constantly reminded how terrible Abby's early life was.
The secondary characters are well fleshed out, in particular Viper who on first meeting Abby practically oozes sex across the page. I wish we could have spent more time with him and also Troy and The Shalott. (But it isn't their book, fingers crossed we will be seeing more of them in the future). The bad guys are not two-dimensional and their motivations are well explained.
It's not perfect, as well as the above-mentioned pacing problem, there is a reliance on some coincidences to keep the plot moving and I noticed one slip in continuity.
However, it held my interest and I'm looking forward to picking up the second book in the series Embrace the Darkness which will feature Viper and The Shalott.
Funny Dialogue, Enjoyable Book.......2007-08-17
I just finished this book. I did not have any expectations and was pleasantly suprised at how funny the dialogue was. I enjoyed Dante's character, but I loved Viper. I am looking forward to reading his story in Embrace the Darkness (book 2).
If you enjoy paranormal romance, I recommend giving this series a try.
Abby, the potty-mouthed nag hag heroine........2007-07-29
This book is unspeakably awful. The clues are there from the very first page.
First clue. The copyright is owned not by Alexandra Ivy, but by Debbie Raleigh. Which probably means Debbie who lives in Raleigh NC. A whole different ballgame from Alexandra Ivy.
Second clue. On page 13 the heroine says she's an idiot 'when it comes to choosing men.' That means she's had a lot of relationships. That many of them have gone bad. And that she's chosen to blame herself entirely. In other words...a doormat tenement ho'. Well. If you make your partner choices based entirely on looks no wonder things can go a little wrong.
The heroine says she's 'passably average' in the looks department. Passably? Does that mean she is plug-ugly? But all the handsome vampire warriors think she's lovely. Are they blind or just stupid?
Both Dante and Viper talk about the heroine Abby's 'innocence and purity.' Ha, ha, haaa. On nearly every page she's using a phrase like 'Holy hell, holy crap, freaking this, freaking that.' She's a D.O.G. (with capitals) I know some romance readers get very excited when a no-class dog has a handsome guy fall for her. I'm not one of those readers. I tend to feel sorry for the guy. Saddled with a hag as a partner. Or in Dante's case; a nag hag. Because, boy, does Abby whine and like to have the last word. Which is usually a curse. So actually, Dante ends up with a potty-mouthed nag hag.
And who on earth still eats pancakes, eggs and bacon for breakfast?? Apart from our heroine Abby that is. She will be a 20-plus size before she is 30-years old.
Just why does Abby find it so hard to get proper work? Her cultural references seem to be TV soaps, Buffy, Dawn of the Dead and shopping in malls. So obviously she's not had an education. Why is she so convinced she'll end up as a bag-lady pushing a shopping cart around? Ok, her parents were not the greatest but it's not as though either they or her six siblings are still around to weigh down her life. At one point Abby says she's afraid of becoming 'a cheap hooker servicing drunks in a sleazy motel.' But that is exactly how she talks and behaves for the whole of the novel. This is not a heroine who has any good aspirations of what she is going to do with her life. I thought Buffy was a middle-class teenager not a no-class loser.
Later there is a petty squabble between the main couple about whether he thinks she is stupid. The poor guy has to spend time stroking her horrible, shallow ego. How is that of any relevance to the plot?
There is a mystery in this story. Why did Selena, the supposed all powerful previous Chalice, die? But this question is dragged out for the whole of the book. The hero, Dante, who's mission is to protect the Chalice, hasn't a clue. Or a clue about getting a clue. He confesses that he spent his time lusting after Abby instead of carrying out his job. Jerk.
This novel has everything in it. Witches, zombies, lightning-bolt shooting wizards, onion (?) demons, and vampires who are not afraid to sink their fangs into their enemies. None of it amounts to anything like a coherent plot. Just one lightweight TV episode after another. Suddenly in chapter 12 the chief baddie, up til that point known as 'The Master' changes into someone called 'Rafael.' So he promptly loses all his charisma and mystique, becoming just another expendable bozo in the process. And around this point it also becomes clear that someone changed their mind about who was going to be the chief baddie in the story. The focus becomes the witches not the wizard.
Like I said. Awful.
Dull, confusing and weak character development.......2007-06-17
As someone already mentioned the endearment lover was used and every time I read it it felt wrong. The endearment Love would have worked much better.
I have no idea who these characters. We get a whole bunch of awful stuff from Abby about how horrible her life was, but nothing in how she acts is really influenced by her past. I have no idea how she came to work at the mansion for Selene. I have no idea why should would be attracted to Dante after initially being introduced to him as an irritant. I have no really good idea why he is an irritant. I have no idea what this world is? Does everyone know about the paranormal or is there and underground of it? What is this clan that Dante belongs to? What does it consist of? Who is the head of it and if Vampires are a solitary lot why is there a Clan? is there more than one clan?
The writing is subpar. The descriptions of scenes are usually very difficult to figure out.
In the beginning we meet Abby wondering wondering what to do about a broken Ming vase. She's on the ground getting ready to hide the pieces when Dante enters the room. She turns around and blocks the view of the broken vase. How she can block the view of the broken vase from someone who is standing, I don't understand, but she does. In that same scene there is a mention of her not backing up because she will back into the broken pieces then then a big bang and she's knocked onto her back. But she doesn't land on the broken pieces.
Another scene that I still don't know what I missed after reading 4 times, Dante is giving Abby a bath in a, I'm pretty sure, sunken bath tub. I never read that he took his clothes off or that she was taken out of the bath or the water was drained. One minute she's lifting her damp arms to pull him closer and closer he comes. After that interlude he does dry her off and lifts her and takes her to the bed, that is covered in silk sheets and puts her to bed. She asks him to stay with her and he gets into bed. This whole scene I'm wonder how he's not dripping and how he manages to not make the bed wet.
This is a poorly written and poorly edited book.
Weak Characters.......2007-06-12
I have been reading the vampire genre for quite some time now and there are many authors out there who do a remarkable job weaving their stories of these otherworldly cast of characters.
Unfortunately, this wasn't one of them. I really tried to get into this story but I found the main characters lacking in depth. Dante had the potential to be a great hero vampire but regrettably, the author didn't delve into the character enough. He was bound to the chalice for the soul purpose of protecting her. Where were those great powers that he should have been endowed with to enable him to fulfill the job. As for chemistry between Dante and Abby, there was none... Yes there were sex scenes, but I couldn't see where Dante's attraction to Abby stemmed from. There were also too many contradictions in Abby's character for me to connect with her.
The story line sounded great, but unfortunately it did not hold up to what I expected. If you truley want to read some great masters of the vampire genre, I would recommend Sherrilyn Kenyon, J.R. Ward and Kresley Cole.

bought several.......2007-08-25
I have been giving these to family who have lost loved ones. Everyone enjoys this smaller researched overview of Heaven! Highly recommend it.
Short and Sweet.......2007-08-01
Some folks have complained about this book's lack of proofs and research. I frankly don't see that, unless one wishes not to be convinced. Alcorn gives plenty of scriptural back-up for his premises. If you want college text level documentation, you need to pick up his "Heaven" instead.
"Light" is great for someone who doesn't have the energy to attack a substantial work like "Heaven". I bought it for my mom, who is caring for my dad, who is suffering from senile dementia. She tried to read "Heaven", and what she did read was a blessing for her, but honestly, it just required too much work. She had neither the time nor the energy to get through it. After having read "Light", I would not hesitate to recommend it to any but the most meticulous and pedantic of scholars. It is certainly preferable to "Heaven" if you're buying it for someone who is suffering from an illness or situation that saps emotional and intellectual energy.
In addition to its simplicity, "Light" has the power of concise writiing on its side. Short works are often the most powerful, and this is true of "Light". I got more in-depth knowledge from "Heaven" (and I'm re-reading it), but "Light" will stay with me in a way that "Heaven" isn't going to do.
life changing.......2007-05-08
a quick read, but very profound...meaningful in many ways...every person should take time to read this book
Wonderful.......2007-01-09
This little book is one of my all-time favorites. From the intro. on the back cover, I was hooked. Great information, very encouraging and I am looking forward to the future in the place and with the person that I was created for!! Money well spent; I will read it again and again.
Randy All Corn?.......2006-12-18
I am reminded that the Apostle Paul asked, who are we to judge another man's work? Ultimately, we have to place opinions at the feet of Jesus Christ and accept His judgment regarding what is truly valuable. With that in mind, I would still like to offer an opinion on this book.
Some of the strengths of this book are that it is short, very easy to read, generally encouraging and comforting, gives attention to Scripture, and has some thought-provoking images and questions, like a sermon, which engender self-reflection.
Despite this, I really don't like the book. The author touches on important ideas but moves on so quickly that the thoughts lack depth of attention. What angers me is that I get the impression he thinks the unfathomably deep, mysterious, and awesome concepts of heaven and eternity can just be so easily and quickly explained, snap-crackle-pop, in a trite little book which really seems written off the top of his head, and whipped off in a week!
Additionally, I have never before read a writer who so constantly quotes his own material! He uses the Bible to write fiction, and then uses that fiction to explain the Bible! He does the same with personal correspondence. The book reflects a lack of time spent doing any quality research, and largely fails to draw upon a vast array of rich sources to help explain the unspeakable. It gives the impression that he either has a very narrow view of the subject or an inordinately high view of his own work. I personally find his fiction shallow and trite, and yet there he is, quoting it like this is the best and deepest thing he can come up with? It's corny. I really think it reflects a serious blind spot in the author, and it's kind of a sin, that it's so shallow.
Randy Alcorn is also very opinionated, as in all his writings, especially when it comes to money. In this book, an example: "Want a heart for General Motors? Buy stock in it." (p.147) This is so narrow minded.
To me, it's sad that books like this are so popular. I really find that the best thing about this book is that it makes me long for a truly deep, thoughtful, well-researched, well-written biblical book about eternity and heaven - which this is not.

Story Behind the Book
After years of writing and teaching on the theme âGod owns everything,â in 1990 Randy Alcorn was sued by an abortion clinic (for peaceful, nonviolent intervention for the unborn). Suddenly he had to resign as a pastor and was restricted to making minimum wage. Legally unable to own anything, Randy gave all his book royalties to missions work and need-meeting ministries. He and his family have experienced the reality of The Treasure Principleâthat God really does own everything, takes care of us, and graciously puts assets into our hands that we might have the joy and privilege of investing in what will last for eternity.
Customer Reviews:
Great book. Don't miss it!.......2007-09-07
Sincere, thought-provoking, soul-searching, and life changing book. I highly recommend it. It will not only be worth every penny you spend on it but if you take it to heart will also cause all your future spending, saving, and investing to be stretched and better utilized. However, I do recommend this as a follow up to the book Money, Possessions, and Eternity by the same author. That one is absolutely a must-read book. If you can only read one I have to recommend Money, Possessions, and Eternity first.
Superb Little Book!.......2007-05-15
This book is a great summary of the great benefits and blessings found in giving joyfully. Alcorn does not offer any handy formulas or explore any Scripture passages on giving in detail. Instead, he uses a broad brush to paint a picture of Christian giving. This book is small enough and affordable enough to be a part of any new member's packet a church may have. In this consumer-oriented, me-centered society in which we live, Alcorn's words here show us the way to experience fully Jesus' words, "It is better to give than to receive." This title is a good read for all Christian believers, a must-read for Christian leaders.
Life changing book!.......2007-04-07
This book honestly changed my life and my perspective on how I handle my money. I hope it can do the same for you.
A true Life changing study.......2006-08-21
Hands down, this is one of the best studies ever done on the gift of giving. Randy Alcorn has done a surper job of taking a tough life issue and wraping it into a wonderful package. The treasure principle is simple: "You can't take it with you, but you can send it on ahead." This truth affects every aspect of our life as Christians.
Escape the slavery of materialism!.......2006-08-12
Finally, a book that is able to encourage joyful, sacrificial grace giving without brow-beating people with a guilt-trip on tithing! Finally, a book that takes a scripturally sound approach to this important area of Christian doctrine and practice! Finally, a book that offers hope to escape the bonds of slavery to our own materialism!
Pastor Randy Alcorn does a marvellous job in this small volume of unpacking truckloads of truth about how God intends His people to handle the money He entrusts to their stewardship. God intends for us to invest it, in ever increasing proportions, for the expansion of His kingdom -- not ours. God also intends for us to learn what it really means to trust Him, as He prompts and enables us to give "even when the bottom line says we can't."
God's "inexpressible gift" of giving is counterintuitive to most of us. Our normal mindset, heavily influenced by the world's materialistic bent, is to horde as much wealth as possible for ourselves. This is true even in the church, where more and more believers are giving themselves over to the materialism that our culture says we are entitled to pursue and enjoy.
It pains my heart when I see believers who will spend many hundreds of thousands of dollars for a 4,000 square foot house, and tens of thousands of dollars on a new luxury car or SUV, but can't seem to find a hundred bucks to support a short term mission trip. Those dear brothers and sisters are caught in a snare of the enemy. Randy Alcorn's small but powerful book tells them how to escape -- by giving away worldly wealth to store up eternal riches.
Scripture teaches, and I have found by my own experience, that the more we have, the more we want, and the more we have to worry about. When we implement the Treasure Principle in our own lives, God delivers us from the bondage of materialism and prepares a far richer, eternal inheritance that is out of all proportion to the pittance even the most generous of us are able to give in this life. We have experienced just a taste of this for ourselves, and look forward to the day when we can "excel in this grace also." Many thanks to Randy Alcorn for sharing his insights and experiences.

Book Description
Many months have passed since the cataclysmic Battle of Mount Hyjal, where the demonic Burning Legion was banished from Azeroth forever. But now, a mysterious energy rift within the mountains of Kalimdor propels three former warriors into the distant past -- a time long before orcs, humans or even high elves roamed the land. A time when the Dark Titan Sargeras, and his demon pawns persuaded Queen Azshara and her Highborne to cleanse Azeroth of its lesser races. A time when the Dragon Aspects were at the height of their power -- unaware that one of their own would soon usher in an age of darkness that would engulf the world of...War Craft®.
In the first chapter of this epic trilogy, the outcome of the historic War of the Ancients is forever altered by the arrival of three time-lost heroes: Krasus, the dragon mage whose great power and memories of the ancient conflict have inexplicably diminished; the human wizard Rhonin, whose thoughts are divided between his family and the seductive source of his now-growing power; and Broxigar, a weathered orc veteran who seeks a glorious death in combat. But unless these unlikely allies can convince the demigod, Cenarius, and the untrusting night elves of their queen's treachery, the burning Legion's gateway into Azeroth will open anew. And this time -- the struggles of the past may well spill over into the future...

Great Start.......2007-08-09
THis book is the first of a trilogy. I highly recommend that if you read this book, you commit to reading the other two. This gives an excellent historical view of how the World of Warcraft evolved over time and how relationships developed, both good and bad.
I don't get it .......2007-06-18
Ok, I have to admit it as much as I wanted to like this book considering the rave reviews I had heard and read hear on Amazon I did not like the story. I don't know if I just wasn't in the right mood or what. The quality of the writing is still there and that is usually enough for me but not this time. Can we break some new ground here or tell some new stories instead of telling an alternate version of a story that all diehard Warcraft people know? This probably has something to do with the fact that this book was written by the same guy who wrote Day of the Dragon a book I liked at first but didn't like quite so much on subsequent rereads.
Overall-Read it if you are a dragon fan who wants to be confused about the overall war craft timeline. There was also a time when I would buy the rest of the trilogy and make an attempt to read the books out of loyalty to the franchise that is not going to happen with there books.
Excellent reading complelling story line!!!.......2007-06-08
As usual all fantasy books begin with a bland fisrt chapter however after this point the story really takes off. I finished this book in record time considering im not usually an avid reader.
If you are a fan of warcraft lore and want to know the background to the evolving characters of the warcraft universe. I suggest starting with this book. I tuned page after page night after night, great work by Knakk

Great Read...........2006-11-06
I really liked this book. For any who read the "Day of the Dragon" book by Richard Knaak and liked it, you'll love this one. It has some of the old gang and some new folks as well as some people from the WC3 game. It's an easy read and I'd say a must have for any Warcraft Lore fanatics. If you wanna know how what became what this is definately a book you'll want.

Eye opener!.......2007-10-03
What an eye opener this book is! He lets you have it like it is. Greed, gluttony and covetousness are NOT treated as virtues, like the "prosperity gospel" preaches. This book helps to get us, as Christians, back on the right track of why God gives us material blessings and what He expects us to do with them. God is the focus, not us. Be prepared for some soul searching introspection!
Excellent book.......2007-10-03
This is an excellent book on Biblical stewardship. It's a must read for anyone wanting to see what the Bible has to say about your possessions and how to view as well as handle them. Highly, highly recommended!
IMHO, This book is second only to the Bible!! .......2007-09-07
Those are big words but let me explain why I truly mean them. Before I'd even gotten past the first hundred pages this book helped me change the way I manage my finances. How? By changing and enlightening my perspective. We get so caught up in the here and now that we sometimes forget what life is really about and what truly matters.
To answer the previous post, this book has NOTHING WHATSOVER to do with "buying your way into heaven". That is a gift bought by the precious blood of Jesus Christ and we can do nothing to earn it. That's why it's a gift from God. However, how we live as a reponse to that is well within our control and how we manage our money says a lot about our view of God and our relationship with Him. That's what this book helps put into perspective first and foremost. Once you have that perspective you will start to change how you spend money without going through major internal efforts. Salvation is one thing and we can only get to Heaven by Jesus Christ and not our own efforts. How we live is another thing and once we've settled the first and are secure in the fact we cannot lose it then our living is to be in gratitude for that precious gift and not an attempt to earn it because we never could. That would diminish the fact that it is a gift of God.
The author's heart-felt and sincere efforts to please the Lord in every aspect of his living have produced the fruit of this very helpful and edifying book. In turn, this book can help the rest of us to do likewise. This book had such a profound impact on me that there was no other book that could compare to it for impact other than the Bible, which of course, is second to none.
Buying your way into Heaven.......2007-07-05
I was bothered by the concept of buying your way into heaven. If you live a moral, decent, commandment obeying life but don't give enough money you still don't get into heaven? I hate to think that's what God is all about.
For full disclosure, I'd like to know what kind of house Mr. Alcorn lives in and how many of his expenses his organization pays. For those of us who pay our own expenses, it's more difficult to free up money to give. He writes of transferring ownership of all possessions to his wife and organization (of which he is the founder)to avoid a legal settlement but advises everyone else to avoid insurance for the same. In the days when God rained manna from the heavens his advice might have worked. However, if I give all my income and possessions away today, I'm living on the street, or on welfare. I thought God helped those who helped themselves, but Mr. Alcorn advises to work ONLY for God. If God wants us to give all our money and possessions back to him, why does he allow us the ability to earn in the first place?
Deep & Thought provoking.......2007-05-29
Great book! Makes you really think how you're spending the money that God has entrusted to you.

Customer Reviews:
Great Book for Summarizing Evidence Supporting Christian Faith.......2007-04-23
In One Thing You Can't Do in Heaven, evangelist Mark Cahill shared a powerful question for helping lead nonbelievers to the Holy Spirit: "What do you think will happen to you when you die?" In One Heartbeat Away: Your Journey into Eternity, Mr. Cahill describes the most often cited evidence in favor of the Christian answer to that question. For someone who doesn't know the Bible and wants to learn more, this book is a good starting point for understanding the evidence in favor of Christianity. Mr. Cahill also does a good job of referencing his sources so that those who want to study the points in more detail will know where to go next. The book is short and accessible: The format is similar to what having a personal conversation with Mr. Cahill might be like.
The book opens with arguments in favor of Intelligent Design, the spiritual counter to various scientific theories such as Darwinism. He next turns his attention to evidence in favor of the Bible, including archeology and prophesies that have proven to be accurate. In chapter four, he describes experiences that people recall who have been resuscitated while dying. While most of us have heard of the tunnel of light and beings dressed in white that receive us in a friendly place, Mr. Cahill also shares stories of people who have experienced great heat, flames, and the smell of burning sulfur. Next, the book examines the Ten Commandments and helps readers to understand how far we all come in following those Godly rules. You'll come away with a strong sense that no matter how hard we try we cannot save ourselves from sin. From there, the book takes a brief look at comparative religions to show that only Christianity provides a way out of being judged for our sins. Using many conversations with nonbelievers and seekers after the Truth, Mr. Cahill recounts how we can repent, accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior, and become new beings through Christ. He also explains how we need to be witnesses for our faith.
I also found the book to be a good refresher on how to witness, something that Mr. Cahill does extremely well.
Two parts of the book really resonated with me: The stories about those who experienced hell while dying and his points about the terrible loss that occurs every time that a soul is lost to God.
Unless you are a well-informed Christian, you'll probably finds that it makes sense to read One Heartbeat Away before One Thing You Can't Do in Heaven. I highly recommend both books.
May God bless you, your family, and all you do, Mr. Cahill!
The plain truth.......2007-03-16
Once again, Mark Cahill tells us in plain English what the Bible says about life and death in a most honest and compelling way. When you finish this 'very easy to read and follow' book you have no doubt about your journey into Eternity. Thanks Mark you really bless me

A WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY........2007-01-13
Please don't waste your time on this unconvincing book. The author goes on and on in a manor which makes you wonder exactly who is he trying persuade? Himself? People who already agree with him? If his target audience is suppose to be the non believer or the curious then his efforts are lost and almost embarrassingly comical. This book will leave you wondering if he simply needed another book to get published for some monetary gain.
A simple walk through life's biggest questions.......2006-11-12
Give this book to a person who is seeking truth about life's greatest questions.
Is there evidence for Darwinian Evolution or Creation?
Is there evidence for the existence of God? If so, can we know Him?
If all the religions of the world conflict on their beliefs, which one is true, if any?
Which holy book is based on truth and full of evidence?
Is there a Law standard in which we will be judged by?
What is the Law? How do I compare against it? What will happen to me if I don't measure up to it?
If I do not measure up to it, is there a way to find mercy?
Not only can you give this book to anyone seeking truth, but you should buy it so you can more effectively share the truth with others in conversation.
Mark Cahill is very good in keeping the book flowing with personal stories, wise quotes, and truth that will make you look at life different forever.
Honestly and Factually proves Christianity and God are real........2006-08-08
I'm less than half way through this book, but as a younger born-again Christian, this book has really helped explain things for me. Each chapter challenges the things/topics that are against God such as evolutionism, Muslims, atheists, etc. The 2nd chapter disproves evolution using amazing facts and even has quotes from famous Evolutionist scholars who themselves said there was no way of a "big bang" to happen. I'd definitely have to recommend Chapter 3, entitled " The Red Silver Dollar," it shows you historically, statistically, and factually, how there HAS to be a God/creator. Great stuff. Check this out if your a new believer, or if you are still unsure.

Read ROMANS 2:11-16.......2007-10-03
What an excellent book a must read.I also highly recommend reading GODS PROMISE TO THE CHINESE by Ethal Nelson and MYTH OF A CHRISTIAN NATION by Greg Boyd.
Lets face it americas "what have you done for me lately" cult of Christian prosperity and vanity is having dier consequences for the true gospel message. So God goes else where like HE has always done but He prepared the way long long ago as this book so beautifully reveals.
He will make a people for himself from every tribe, nation and tongue.
1 COR 1:27 "but God has chosen the foolish things of the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to shame the things which are strong."
JAMES 4:6 "God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble."

Customer Reviews:
The mountaintop of spirituality.......2007-07-29
40 years after reading this book for the first time, I can read it again and still be amazed and astounded by the spiritual insight it contains. In consciousness it does not matter when something was first written -- it is the insight written on the pages that matters. You will be blessed to read the pages of this book.
The Truth will Set You Free.......2003-11-25
Joel Goldsmith has been given a spiritual vision into living a life in Christ.
There are many steps to take in the spiritual life and sometimes we take one step forward and two steps backward.
There are days when all seems hopeless and your faith is waning and than you let go and let God and you reach the mountain top.
To stay at peace in your journey takes work and yet this is a paradox because grace will see you through.
This book is Spiritual Caviar.......2003-09-13
If you are blessed to have found Goldsmith, (its a soul
maturity thing), and have enough background in him to be
ready for his best work...then read this. You can see the
echoes of his other books in many pages, but whereas some
of the earlier ones took 8 pages to say it, now it is told
in 8 pithy words...brilliant, aha concepts jump off the
page and directly into your heart.
If I could only have one spiritual book on my shelf, this
would be it.
Absolutely Sublime.......1999-09-10
I have been a Goldsmith fan for approxiamately a year and I can most definitely say that out of the books I've read so far...this is one of his "better" ones. Each chapter brings a deeper level of understanding for Metaphysical aficionados and Truth students. This book will definitely increase one's sense of peace,inner-knowing, and joy. It is a must read for those seeking to improve the quality of their lives and it is priceless!
It is Joel at his most developed level as spiritual teacher.......1997-07-15
Joel tackles many of his favorite subjects here, including the illusion of what we seem to experience between cradle & grave, (the parenthesis) the allness of consciousness, the understanding of the I Am, and most importantly the differences between the spiritual and the mental. He again works his recurring theme of realization through meditation that "the father and I are one." This one should be read after The Infinite Way, Thunder of Silence, Practicing the Presence, Art of Meditation, and perhaps some of his other books
