Book Description
Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

Calculations are only as good as your numbers.......2007-08-03
Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.
Pants on fire?.......2007-07-19
Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.
Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09
There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.
For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.
Very Interesting.......2007-03-07
It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.
History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10
Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.
I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.
Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.
Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.
I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.
This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.

David and Leigh Eddings introduce readers to their newly minted Land of Dhrall with The Elder Gods, the first book in the four-book Dreamers Saga. Dhrall is under the gentle rule of four gods representing the four compass points. These gods are reaching the end of their terms of power when the god of the North brings four children who are destined to take over for them into his siblings' lairs. The children are dreamers and able to see the possible outcome of battles in a coming war with the evil creature that controls the wasteland at the center of Drahll's map. Thus, the gods and their young charges undertake quests to hire mercenary armies and thwart the initial invasion into their lands.
The book unfolds like a children's primer. This pedantic style proves to be heavy-handed for adult readers and will quickly try their patience. If the Eddings were trying to concoct a book that would be suitable for reading aloud to fifth graders they've succeeded, but even the most die-hard fantasy fan will tire quickly of the sing-song approach and plot twists that can be sniffed out from miles away. --Jeremy Pugh

Disappointed, entirely.......2007-09-10
I have been a huge David Eddings fan from the Elenium, Belgariad, Malloreon, The Redemption of Althalus and was looking forward to a new series from him. So it was with excitement that I picked up this book.
I couldn't even finish it, I felt like I was reading written by a 13 year old from the pink dolphins to the pet lightning, ugh! I was bored almost to the point of dying from it. I was heartbroken too, David Eddings was a beacon of light in the fantasy genre, I loved Sparhawk from the opening paragraph of Diamond Throne through to the end, and Silk and all of the rest from those storylines, and Althalus. But this, this is too much and he will be needing to redeem himself if I am to be a reader again. I was sorely disappointed.
The author can, and has, done better .......2007-08-19
I was somewhat disappointed with this book, because it just doesn't seem to have the same pull as his earlier series, such as "The Belgariad" (which I enjoyed). Eddings seems to get more mileage out of the witty banter between a few of his supporting characters than he does out of the spectacle of God-like beings weilding mighty powers ... which doesn't really say a lot in favor of the book.
I just didn't feel 'the love' on this one ... the authors seem to just gloss over too many personal details about their characters in their rush to cover the events they obviously plot-scripted or battle-choreographed out for themselves. Physical descriptions, for instance, are relatively few and thin. Aside from the occasional mention of being short or tall, or perhaps having a colorful beard, the reader is left pretty much to fill in their own blanks on most of the finer details of what people look like. I'm not asking for multi-page descriptive excesses (ala Laurell K. Hamilton), but something other than next to nothing would have been more welcome. It almost felt like the authors were perhaps a bit lazy while cranking out their daily page quotas for this one. In the belgariad, I felt like the author had a good story he was really keen to tell, whereas this one feels a bit like he's just going though the motions.
Other nits, in no particular order:
* The geology implicit in the world maps on the book's inleaf make no sense whatsoever, and are also rather amateurish in both appearance and useful content.
* Scanty world details. I touched on this above, regarding lack of physical details, but it's really more pervasive. This book seems to be classic cookie-cutter fantasy with not enough meaningful real-world detail to effectively flesh it out. The authors do things like make references to fishing, but provide little in the way of participatory details for the reader - there's little mention of the type of fish caught, or how they're prepared and/or preserved. Ok, you net unspecified varieties of fish ... then what ? TELL ME. Ditto for references to hunting - other than a passing reference to deer, there's no details there either. I mean come on, give the reader something to see, smell, or chew on, otherwise the suspension of disbelief requires extra effort. Witty banter, and some clever flag signals, are just not enough. A good writer pulls the reader in with enticing details. If you leave out too many details, it's like reading a shooting script for a TV episode, and that's just boring.
Bottom line: the author can, and has, done better in the past. I'm probably going to skip the rest of this series, if book 1 is indicative of the quality of the writing
Utter Dreck!.......2007-06-12
Like others here, I had to simply give up. I made the mistake of thinking that since there was more than one book in the series already published, there must be some good material in there.
WRONG!
If I never hear the expression "...with no trace of a smile..." again, it'll be too soon. And a character who "never learned how to miss" with his bow? Puh-leeeeze! Plus, the romantic ambiguity between characters led me to wonder how this world ever became populated in the first place, as no one ever seems to get past the kissing stage --- and most of that occurs between adults and pre-adolescent Younger Gods.
In summary, the three words that best describe it are as follows, and I quote:
"Stink. Stank. Stunk."
You might want to give this one a second chance........2007-06-10
Don't let all the negative reviews put you off from this book. I read it when it first came out and just read it again recently and found it to be even more fun the second time around. The land of Dhrall is one of the most brilliantly crafted and richly peopled settings in the history of modern fantasy writing. The characters are very well drawn out and impossible to forget. I won't say all the criticism about the characters being similar to those from previous books by the authors or in regards to the bleeding dialog are wrong exactly but more misplaced in nature, I believe. For those of us who are fans of the Eddings' other works reading this book is like sitting down with some old friends. You may have heard some or even all of their stories and jokes before, but that doesn't subtract one bit from the joy of listening to their beloved voices tell them all over again.
Compared to all the drivel that passes for fantasy these days, this book stands out as a shinning star hidden behind a mountain of garbage. Do yourself a favor and climb that mountain. The view on the other side is pretty sweet.
Slow moving, lacks drama.......2007-06-08
I have enjoyed many other books by David Eddings, so grabbing the first three books of this series seemed like a wise decision. Alas, past performance does not guarantee future success.
The intial focal point of 'evil' in this series is called the Vlagh. Sadly, the Vlagh never sparked any emotions in me. Neither did the good guys. The battles, if you want to call them that were ho hum. The storyline provides not tension what-so-ever. There's nothing to engage you.
I will say that the Elder Gods at least left me with enough interest to read book 2 in the series, so I gave it a 2.
Book Description
Written in a popular style by a longtime college physics professor and Bible teacher, this book is designed to strengthen the faith of those who believe in an inerrant Bible against false teaching by secular educators. Casting a physicist's light on the old-earth/young-earth controversy, a new paradigm is presented. The author invokes Einstein's theory to show that the six-24-hour-days model of creationists and the physicist's 13.7 billion year model are not logically inconsistent. That's because the God Who inspired Genesis One exists in three Persons, each capable of distinct spacetime reference frames, allowing creation to be observed multi-perspectively. Furthermore, citing Heisenberg's uncertainty principle-the basis of quantum mechanics-he points out that this allows God to control the universe moment by moment, since it is clearly taught in Scripture that God alone is sovereign over chance. The Law of Entropy, sometimes called "time's arrow," shows that the history of salvation was intended to take place only once. Jesus Christ is the anchor of time. The unifying theme of the Old and New Testaments is the story of redemption from the penalty of original sin as God in His sovereignty calls members of His invisible church out from the world.

Book Description
Chronic Vigour is a study of the development of Christian thought and the doctrine of Providential Evolution. The author argues that the renovation of Anglican theology, as a response to Darwin's evolutionary theory, actually began at the moment of Darwin's first publication of "The Origin of Species. Chronic Vigour" is unique because it examines a school of clergymen who knew Darwin and corresponded with him. The book demonstrates how these clergymen came to endorse Darwinian biology as early as 1884 in Britain. It places the history of the principle of "providential evolution" squarely in its English context. The book consists of five chapters. The first chapter is devoted to Edward Bouverie Pusey (1800-1882), the Professor of Hebrew at Oxford and the leader of the Tractarian movement. The second chapter evaluates the religious proposals which were offered within the Church itself as a direct reaction to biological evolution. In the third chapter, the author investigates St. George Jackson Mivart (1827-1900), the key person to generate the doctrine of Providential evolution. The subject of the fourth chapter is the Reverend Charles Kingsley (1819-1875), who was the model of the progressive Victorian parson "and" the first Anglican priest to be an evolutionist. Finally, chapter five brings together many of the book's themes by examining Bishop Frederick Temple's (1821-1902) contributions to the providential evolution cause.
