Book Description

Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.

Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.

5 out of 5 stars Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09

There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.

For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.

It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.

4 out of 5 stars History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10

Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.

I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.

Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.

Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.

I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.

This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.

Book Description

Early traditions speak of the arrival of "radiant beings from heaven," self-sacrificing guardians of the human race who have reincarnated as pivotal figures in the panorama of human history to assist in the work of evolution. Secret Places of the Lion shows how these "great ones" have helped mankind for thousands of years, hiding their secrets in tombs, caverns, temple ruins, and catacombs. Posing as wanderers, they would declare universal wisdom and truth at certain periods of history when people were prepared to receive it; then they would withdraw for a time to see what was done with the new-found knowledge. Thus, the rises and plateaus of our cultural history emerged.

Classic in the UFO field.

Many years after his death, the author still has a devoted following.

1 out of 5 stars Far Out to Lunch..........2006-05-22

George Hunt Williamson was a very strange character indeed, and this is one of his first books, originally published in 1958, and having been kept pretty much continuously in print ever since. Any trip to a used book store will turn up several earlier paperback editions.

Williamson basically retells a portion of the history of ancient Egypt, and recites the mythology of the Old and New Testaments, but reshuffles most dates (where there are dates) by up to 1,000 years and presents the whole story as the continuous adventures of about six different characters, continuously reincarnated, most of whom start out in the imaginary Theosophical Lemuria.

At the bottom of every other page, Williamson notes that "records will soon be discovered" to confirm the details of his story, but is fairly coy (if not completely reticent) about where he himself got those details which he recites without reference or source. Actually, Williamson was pretty handy with a Ouija board, and I suspect his "boarding sessions" (as he called them) were the main source of the "plot" of the present volume. Every once in a while, Williamson mentions the (imaginary) monastery of "The Brotherhood of the Seven Rays" near Lake Titicaca in Peru, as invented by mid-1950s flying saucer cult leader Marion Dorothy Martin. Not coincidentally, Williamson was a follower of the cult, and I suspect some details here are owed to Martin, not to Williamson's imagination. At least one of Williamson's later books was written under the pen name of "Brother Philip," described as a supposed member of the monastery. The "ancient astronaut" or "space god" theme later popularized by Von Daeniken is continuously present within the story, yet not ever a major part of it.

For those familar with the lore of pseudoscience, the best thumbnail description of the book is that it's a deconstruction of the Old and New Testaments based largely on Theosophy. It's also completely valueless for any imaginable purpose... even as merely an example of imaginative fiction. Like many 1950s "ufoological" books, it's a volume of which one can say, "What hath Madame Helena P. Blavatsky wrought?"

5 out of 5 stars The Truth In A New Light.......2002-02-27

This book reveals the truths of ages lost and understandings that man has fogotten. It is definitely is a book to read if you wish to understand the true nature of the Light and those who help it to progress.

5 out of 5 stars A striking esoteric deep view.......1999-04-08

You need to be already familiar with esotericism to read and appreciate that, but for those who are ready, it is of good value. This book gives the right light on Egypt and Israel servants of light, children of the stars. I'm understanding now how the two are linked, are part of the same thing. Very good indeed.

5 out of 5 stars Not to be missed or you will never get home!.......1999-03-08

This book is the ticket for all those who feel that they have been a Someone (not of this place) before and feel instinctively that they are lost, trapped in this dimension and a long, long way from home.

Book Description

In this rousing historical adventure set in the Tudor court, we are swept back to the final days of Edward VI's reign, and a time of danger, deceit, and courage. Brendan Prescott, a foundling reared in Dudley household, arrives at court to serve as a squire to the arrogant Lord Robert Dudley. Keen and ambitious, Brendan hopes to gain advancement in his new post - until Lord Robert dispatches him on an illicit mission to the King's enigmatic sister, the Princess Elizabeth, and Brendan discovers that nothing in his world is as it appears. A dark plot brews around Elizabeth's quest to unravel the truth about her brother King Edward VI's disappearance. Lured into her service as a spy, with only a bold stable boy and audacious lady-in-waiting at his side, Brendan plunges into a ruthless gambit of half-truths and lies, pitted against the wiles of a vengeful opponent who may hold the secret of his own mysterious birth - a secret that could shatter everything he believes in, and cast an inescapable shadow over him, Elizabeth, and the future of England itself. Filled with the intrigue and pageantry of Tudor England, The Secret Lion is the first book in The Spymaster Chronicles. This new edition features the Two Bridges Press Reader's Group Guide.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Godo beginning for a new series.......2007-10-06

The Secret Lion was excellent. Being a historian, I found the theme , plot and characters well developed and intriguing. This is a time period which was complex to say the least. It's always interesting to see what new insights we can give to the Tudors. I'd recommend this to middle and high school kids to wet their appetite for history . I can't wait for the second in this series.

3 out of 5 stars Mediocre.......2007-08-27

The book was OK. Nothing memorable, if you want a real history-mystery, then grab C.J. Sansom's books, they too are about the Tudor court, though at an earlier time. The characters in Gortner's novel are not fully developed, and the plot simply does not make practical sense. It is too fantastical. Another issue that bothered me was how the characters seemed to completely change in a page or two. A weakling and timid man would grab a dagger and defend a damsel in distress, or the strong and iron willed Elizabeth would act like a twelve year old school girl. Overall it's worth the read since it's so short, but do not expect anything especial.
PS: I will likely leaf through the second novel, just to see if the author's work has improved.

3 out of 5 stars Imaginative, easy to read, but ultimately, too light.......2007-06-13

This is a highly imaginative tale based on what little is known about the plots surrounding Edward VI's death and the rise of Elizabeth I. It places Robert Dudley, Elizabeth's alleged lover, in the role of pawn to his father's - the Duke of Northumberland - schemes.

While entertaining and worthy of a plot for a mystery, the story is not very credible. Therefore, if you prefer historical fiction that remains as true to historical evidence as possible, you may not like it. On the other hand, if you want to read a lightweight mystery for the pure joy of it, I recommend it.

Those with a fairly good handle on Elizabethan history will probably find the story hard to swallow. But then it is fiction!

2 out of 5 stars I hope #2 and #3 are better.......2007-01-29

A light read, fairly entertaining, with a very small time commitment. I was lucky enough to purchase this for $2 and read it straight-through in about 6 hours: just right on both counts. I do not think I will read numbers 2 and 3 in the series, but I hope they are better than this one.

This is a fairly standard spy-on-the-rise story. Unusual circumstances and a mysterious personal background collaborate to compel an intelligent but un-pedigreed young man into a life of espionage and danger. Along the way he finds himself consorting with royalty, getting some Bond-like bodice-ripping action (albeit of the Daniel Craig variety since only one girl was involved), thwarting nation-threatening coup attempts, and repeatedly swimming for his life in very cold, very dirty water. The style of writing is that of a familiar page-turner, with something along the lines of "what he saw next would haunt his thoughts forever..." ending almost every chapter and urging you on to the next page.

The prose is clunky (how many times do we need to see the world "algid" in a spy novel?), the dialogue is anachronistic, the story line is predictable (how can a novel about Elizabeth I not be?), and the character motivations are singular at best (serve Elizabeth at all costs, serve Northumberland at all costs, become Queen, become King, discover family secret, etc.), and non-existent at worst (one of the chief character's only trait is his stupidity).

I would rate this a good read for a long plane flight or a good diversion from more serious fare. This book requires absolute suspension of disbelieve. Cynics and critics should not even crack the cover.

5 out of 5 stars Long Live The Queen!.......2006-09-26

The Secret Lion by C.W. Gortner is excellent and on par with the likes Steven Saylor brimming with historical and prosaic erudition. I saw the string of excellent reviews and I too had to purchase this book. A good purchase indeed this was. Though a work of fiction, the historical events take on a life of their own. In this tale, the events quickly become a roller coster ride of intrigue when our young hero is sent to be Squire for the unsavory Lord Robert. Read this book if you like good historical fiction. You'll be glad you did.

Book Description

Richard Farleigh reveals the 100 secret strategies that he developed to enable him to succeed in the markets.During his time running a trading desk, Farleigh set out to develop a repeatable methodology based on observation and reasoning, not just on one-off flukes and luck, to enable him to outperform the market on a regular basis. The (potentially controversial) beliefs that he incorporates into his strategies include: - Markets tend to under-react, not overreact.- Big, obvious ideas offer great opportunities.- It is safe to invest with a consensus view.- Contrarian trading is usually irrational.- It is best to enter and exit the share market at the right times instead of always staying invested.- Price trends are well known but under-utilised.- Chartists are just astrologers.- Investment and trading are increasingly similar. Some of the techniques simply involve being better than other investors at some of the basics, including only chasing genuine opportunities, managing risks and coping with losses. As his trading results started to attract some attention, Farleigh was frequently asked to give presentations of his ideas to other professional traders. From the feedback during these sessions he realised that others were interested in an approach to investing which was based on first principles. Finding that anecdotes were the best way to make a point, and that ideas could be summarised into numbered strategies, allowed him to show clearly how the methodology worked.Years later, he is still using the same approach, and has found that amateurs, as well as professionals, are keen to find out how markets work and how to improve their investment performance. This book contains thosesecrets.----------About the 100 Strategies The rules are based on two broad experiences. Firs

4 out of 5 stars To 'stay in the game' requires discipline........2006-08-31

I found this book by Richard Farleigh to be clearly written and well paced. It honestly and fairly describes the techniques which work for him as a professional investor who has managed to 'stay in the game' and made money from it. He does also point out that acquaintances of his use different methodologies, which work well for them.

He clearly identifies the comparative advantage most likely to be useful to aspirants and makes clear what he means by the next big thing so as not to make such terminology seem flippant. My understanding, for example, is that one should watch out for shifts in technology such as the introduction of transistors versus tubes/valves and the petrol-engine versus the steam-engine, since these big changes are the fundamental drivers for a plethora of novel invention and genuine opportunity.

He also indicates the markets best suited to the beginner (property) and those that are specialities (currency) requiring knowledge and experience.

Above all, Richard Farleigh makes it clear that investing is a discipline and is doomed to failure if one is not prepared to apply themselves to the work involved.

I was rather surprised at his admiration for John Maynard Keynes who is, without dispute, the worst economist ever, and whose philosophies have massively undermined the prosperity and freedom of the west and significantly contributed to contemporary terrorism and the inability of the western powers to confront it in their befuddlement over moral equivalence.

I enjoyed Richard Farleigh's book and think he would enjoy reading: 'Capitalism: A Treatise on Economics by George Reisman.'

5 out of 5 stars Great Principles for Investing.......2006-08-30

If you're looking for a book on specific investing techniques, you may be disappointed. Richard Farleigh provides some insightful big picture principles that serve as a great foundation for speculation in general. The examples he provides from his own life didn't come off as narcissistic to me. I enjoyed examining a professional investor's thought process and actions.

My only gripe about the book is the way it is organized. The thoughts are roughly categorized but don't flow that well. I'm on my second reading, taking notes, and re-ordering the ideas.

This is one of the most best big picture trading books I've read.

1 out of 5 stars me me me.......2006-03-09

not the worst book i have read. The book would be better if Farleigh quite taking about himself. I think he wrote the book looking at himsef in a mirror

2 out of 5 stars Poor.......2006-02-27

This review is in two parts.

The first half of the book provides a biography of the author's life, his experiences in Australia, and his life as a porfessional investor. This is a terrific read, and provides a useful guide to the author's investment philosophy.

However the second half of the book, which claims to set out the philosophy in detail, is unstructured and lacks any real detail.

The main philoosphy discussed is trend folllwing. However, nowhere is is adequately explained or described, or illustrated.

A lot of the philosophy is to be taken on blind faith. Perhaps it's a case where the author has an intrinsic understanding of marketing movements which is difficult to describe or quantify. This book suggests that!

5 out of 5 stars Among top 10.......2006-02-11

I have read about 60 trading/investment books during the last 5 years. Every book had something to give. Some very little and some a lot. No 1 for me is still "Reminiscences of a Stock Operator". After that it is harder to grade them. This book I would rank somewhere in the top 10 area. It is said that in order to become sucessful in the markets and to over time take out more than you put in, you must find an approach that fits your nature and, somewhere, the nature of the markets. "Taming the Lion" gave me insights and helped me on the way to my personal approach.

Book Description

The Dance of the Lion and the Unicorn is a riveting read and a revolutionary approach to helping couples whose relationship is in trouble. It focuses on the most common dynamic of relationships that fail: One partner (lion) reacts with outbursts of anger, while the other (unicorn) tries to avoid conflict in ways that only make things worse.

Seasoned marriage and family therapist Dr. Mark Waller shows how to escape the downward spiral of this widespread dynamic. He takes us into the gripping drama of actual counseling sessions to show, rather than just tell about, how his clients recover their self-respect, see themselves and their partners in ways they never could before, and save their marriages.

To anyone in a relationship:

Dr Mark Waller takes us through the minefield of understanding the temperament we are born with and how that temperament is impacted by early childhood development affecting our relationships throughout our lives.

Using the analogy of the Lion and the Unicorn to help understand the difference between temperaments, Dr. Waller focuses on the most common reason relationships fail. One partner - the Lion - reacts with outbursts of anger, while the other partner - the Unicorn - tries to avoid conflict in ways that only make matters worse. Resulting in what becomes the "Dance of the Lion and the Unicorn."

Waller describes how we react to emotional triggers by either approaching (Lion) or withdrawing (Unicorn). It works something like this... We all carry pain, for example, in a relationship one person's pain is rejection (Lion) and the other person's pain is fear (Unicorn). Both players become defensive and react with their preferred survival strategy - anger (Lion) and avoidance (Unicorn). So when the Unicorn avoids the Lion the Lion feels rejected and becomes angry which causes fear in the Unicorn who seeks safety by avoidance, and round and round it goes until something breaks.

Dr. Waller shows us how to escape the toxic driving force of the dance. He takes us into the drama of actual counseling sessions with a couple named Pat and Angie to show us how they recover their self-respect, see themselves and their partner in ways they never could before, and in the process ending the dance and saving their marriage.

A great read for anyone who wants to learn more about how relationships really work. This book can dramatically make a difference in your relations with others.

To all potential readers of the book:

Dr. Waller's latest book is truly remarkable. I recognized myself about a paragraph into the introduction. Needless to say, I had to read on! Being a lion, I was always surprised when people found my blustery demeanor intimidating. Hmmmm...maybe I need to change of few thing? I also wondered why I cry so easily (like over chocolate chip cookie commercials) and why my feelings were so easily hurt. It didn't take long to see the origin of some of my character traits and now that I am aware, I can control and work with some of them to be a more effective person, and partner. I also have a greater understanding of my husband and can now difuse a situation before it really gets out of hand. But the best part is I can see where my actions have influenced (and harmed) my daughters, and I have an opportunity to correct some of the damage before their whole lives are trashed. I have bought a copy of this book for every person I know who could use a little relationship help. If you are serious about improving your life with or without a mate, read this book. It can really make a positive difference in your interactions with others.

Thank you, Dr. Waller, for your amazing and insightful book.

Sincerely,

Karen Estremo

5 out of 5 stars Real Life Relationship Dynamics.......2005-01-14

Dear Mr. Waller,

I feel that your book perfectly illustrates an extremely common relationship dynamic. Most readers will be able to identify themselves in the role of the "lion" or the "unicorn". This information will help people change self-defeating behaviors. They will be able to move past seeing their partner as "wrong" and gain understanding and fresh perceptions. The book provides tools for healing and personal development.

As a lion in my relationships, I was overwhelmed by guilt after my angry outbursts. Your book brought light to this shadow side and helped me to release the self-blame I have carried throughout my life. This dance involves two players and each person must honestly assess their contribution to dysfunction. Your book was a perfect blend of real-life anecdotes and scientific study.

I highly recommend this book to anyone dedicated to growth and creating peace-filled relationships. I believe that unless we work through our current problems, the same issues will reoccur later in our lives. You can run, but you can't hide...so you might as well dance.

Warmest regards,
Amy Garcia

5 out of 5 stars ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS EVER PUBLISHED ABOUT OUR ANCIENT PAST!.......1999-08-05

I'm a 19 year old female who never took to kind to reading growing up. Over a year now I have been searching for answers to "our" past. Raised Catholic, Christian, and many other religions...I found that I was brain washed by the false scrpitures and writings. I picked up this book in my Mother in laws book shelf, and thought that this book might be one of the tools to help me learn a short version of the truth. It teaches about who built the pyramid, bible figures, Disc of the Sun, and important findings of the "Secret of the Lion." It tells of what we are to find under the Sphinix, and all over the world. As man is to recieve it's ancient history about Earth and how some souls are even from the "stars"...ect. ("Goodly Company.") I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK! You will even find out that these space vistors have been here side by side to assist mankind from Beast to gods....and even information about Jesus and the history of Egypt! I was so into this book I thought of looking up this Authors works...and to be dissapointed that he only has two other books....then I wanted to see if this man (who's real name is) Dr. Michel D.M. d'Obrenovic was born in 1927 and died in 1986. I just found out, and I am very sad. A book like this....is hard to come by...I wanted to talk to this author and ask questions...and learn more. If anyone knows his family, please email me. I would love to study from his old work, and possibly take over his work...with the permission of his family...and travel...and write another part to the findings....Maybe an added version. If anyone knows of another book similar to this one. Please contact me. I know that this book was writen for people like myself. I enjoyed this book more than any other. As you can see I am young, and it is only an easy read to those who feel a connection to this history or have some knowledge jumping into this book! I would like to take the time to thank this Author.."Thank you, and may I see your works in another lifetime!"
