For my 18 year old sister..........2007-03-26
I thought this book was cute... really CUTE. There are others that are smart and others that are funny, this was cute and a decent choice for my little sister who is going to be my Maid of Honor. It talks down to you a little and it's very "girly" but it's quite fun and my sister enjoys it.
Good Guide for novices..........2007-02-21
Was fun and enjoyable experience to read this book...great ideas to make the bride feel special!
the Bridesmaid Guide.......2007-01-22
I bought this book for my bridesmaids for Christmas and they loved it! It helped me by reading it also because now I know what bridesmaids' exact responsibilites are. Such a fun read!!
Great Ideas for a Maid of Honor Beginner!.......2006-08-18
The friend I chose to be my Maid of Honor had never been in a wedding party before, and so I knew she'd need a little help/instruction in knowing what her duties would include. This is a great little book that has helped her be an amazing Maid of Honor. In addition, the book has a great look to it, and really isn't very expensive. In asking someone to be in your wedding, why not give them this book and ask them in an inscription inside the front cover?
Great Gift for your Bridesmaids.......2006-08-09
I was looking for a small gift to send my bridesmaids and I came across this book. It is a fun little guide for those new to the wedding world, as some of my bridesmaids are. As a wedding novice myself, being the first of my friends to marry, it was a good heads up on what to ask of my attendants and what mistakes to avoid. The feedback from my bridesmaids has also been very positive, they enjoyed the light witty style mixed with the helpful guide. I am very glad I found this book and would suggest it to anyone who wants to treat their bridesmaids!

Book Description
Wedding ceremonies get the full bead treatment in this handbook of ways to add a decorative, personal touch to nuptials. The more than 75 projects are aimed at beginning beaders—but provide plenty of ideas for more experienced crafters—and are perfect not just for brides but also for family and friends. A teaching section introduces readers to techniques that appear throughout the book in projects that defy the idea that beadwork is limited to jewelry. Patterns for tiaras, veils, cake toppers, centerpieces, invitations, guest mementos, and even venue decorations are included, bringing the unforgettable sparkle and shine of beaded embellishment to all parts of a wedding party.

Horrible.......2007-07-23
The ideas are plain and there is nothing out of the ordenary. All the projects is simple and no book is needed to think up any of these ideas. I'm very dissappointed in this book.

Book Was Satisfactory But Another Was Better.......2006-11-05
This book was all right, but the best book on the subject I've read is entitled: Bridal Bargains: Secrets to Having a Fantastic Wedding on Realistic Budget. There were numerous names of vendors and suppliers for desirable brand named items at discount prices. A fabulous find and reference. Elaine Bales Anchorage, Alaska
Great inforamtion.......2005-10-14
I found that this book gave you lots of options when looking for cost cutting ideas. I recommend it for anyone looking at getting married and saving a few dollars.
very helpful.......2005-04-26
I just finished reading this book. Although I have only begun planning my wedding, I had already started to feel very overwhelmed at trying to pull off the wedding I wanted for as many people as I wanted, for a mere $10000. This book really helped calm the fears, and inspired me to believe I can do this. Hopefully the tips and worksheets will help, and the checklists of questions to ask vendors seem like they will be wonderful to have. I recommend this book to anyone who (like me) thinks it is insane to spend an outrageous amount of money on just one day, but still wants to have a wedding that doesn't look cheap and poorly done.
Smart money-saving ideas here!.......2003-06-07
Finally, a book on getting more out of your wedding budget without resorting to obviously cheesy things that show you cut corners. Our copy has more pages dog-eared and highlighted than not, and we're even passing ideas along to our friends. The reception section on what to order for food choices was terrific, and I especially loved the part about where to look for a wedding gown that's not one of those cut-rate wedding factories and still find a big bargain on a designer dress. If you want to get twice or three times the wedding for what you have to spend, get this book and get ready to highlight all the great ideas. We're going to have a much better wedding now since we read this.

In this little book, there are dozens of ideas for creating wedding favours. There are edible goodies, such as cookies, cakes, chocolates, and candies (many of which can be made at home); flowers, candles, and scented treats; and luxurious keepsakes for special members of the wedding party. Book Description
From incorporating family rituals and cultural traditions into your wedding to booking a "heritage honeymoon," Viva el Amor is the only book that the Latina bride-to-be will need to plan a fabulous fiesta while celebrating the sacred bond of marriage. With the inspiring ideas, realistic timetables, and practical advice of Viva el Amor, brides and their families will discover -- and rediscover -- the wealth of Latino traditions that add depth and meaning to a wedding ceremony, and find ways to add modern touches. In an entertaining and informative style, Edna R. Bautista explains the significance of such customs as the thirteen coins(las arras) and the cord(el lazo) used in the marriage ceremony, the selection of godparent-sponsors(padrinos) for support during the nuptial festivities, and the Latina-Catholic tradition of carrying three bridal bouquets. All the practical aspects of making the day perfect are here, too, including: Preparing a wedding-planning calendar, setting up a reasonable budget and gift registry, planning a menu of traditional foods, adorning the wedding party in traditional cultural dress and accessories, and choosing music for the reception that will appeal to both young and old guests. With all the steps involved in planning a customary Latino-Christian wedding or an interfaith one -- from ethnic dances to the toast -- Viva el Amor is indispensable. This bilingual book is all the Latina bride-to-be will need to plan the wedding of her dreams.

Not much different from any other wedding book.......2007-01-05
Although this book is supposed to be helpful guide, the author manages to group most Latinos into one large culture to discuss. As another reviewer states, when the author is not writing about Latinos in general, she seems to know and write more about Mexican culture. I am looking for a guide that would help me plan a wedding with Cuban traditions, and though this book is not insightful in that area, I did find the section on how to format an invitation in the traditional "Y" layout helpful. If I had seen this in a bookstore, I would have not bought it and only taken notes on the invitation area. I would not recommend this book, yet unfortunately, it is the only book I know of that makes an effort to write about Latino weddings.
Great for someone else........2005-08-30
I jumped at the idea of buying this book because I wanted to get tips for planning my New York based- Latino wedding.
Clearly for someone like me who is from a Latino/Caribbean country it was not particularly helpful. Most of the book focused on what I characterize as more Mexican traditions. I can't really say that any of the vendors or sites that they suggest are good ones for New Yorkers or those of us that live in the Northeast. I'd love to find a book that focused more on Cuban, Dominican or Puerto Rican wedding traditions. I guess I'll have to keep searching.
