Book Description
Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

Calculations are only as good as your numbers.......2007-08-03
Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.
Pants on fire?.......2007-07-19
Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.
Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09
There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.
For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.
Very Interesting.......2007-03-07
It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.
History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10
Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.
I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.
Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.
Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.
I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.
This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.

Customer Reviews:
wonderful.......2006-03-23
The author really gives the cat in this story a voice, not to mention the cat is just like mine. Great story and pictures. I read it to my fourth grade class and they enjoyed it.
Cranky Cat Meets Big Dog.......2005-11-23
This is a humorous look at an imaginary life of Merl the "special" cat. He has his cat people and when they bring a puppy into the home, Merl begins an adventure. Kids love to hear it over and over--the illustrations are also very lovely. I love to read this out loud.
Sometimes a Dog can be a Cat's Best Friend.......2005-06-25
"My dish. My sofa. My chair. My mouse. My Bed." These are the words uttered by Merl, a very special cat and above each two word sentence is an excellent illustration. Merl, who always seems to have his pink mouse toy in his teeth by the tail is a happy, content cat, until his owners bring home a puppy. The puppy dog licks and slurps Merl to no end, apparently not aware that cats and dogs aren't supposed to be friends. Merl does everything he can to discourage the puppy, but in the end finds that nothing he does will shake this dog's love, so he leaves and seeks out a new home.
However, everywhere he goes he has problems, first a lady dresses him up like a show cat, children fight over him and he winds up sleeping in a box on the street until this dog comes by and guess what, that dog is the puppy all grown up and he takes Merl home and Merl decides to be friends after all, but there are a few rules he lays down and they are, "My dish. My sofa. My chair. My mouse. My bed and My Big Dog."
This is wonderful book for children just learning to read. The illustrations are simply beautiful. Your child will just love this. I know my girls did when they were learning to read. Five stars from me for "My Big Dog."
Merl the very special cat........2005-06-01
Awesome book! Only thing that I didn't really like so much were the grey people (they seemed to be photographs) that were inserted with the animals) Merl certainly is a very special cat, and I can't think of a reason why any child wouldn't love this book. I'm especially fond of Merl's pink mouse toy.
That aside, the writing is great and the illustration (Aside from the grey people) fit the mood of the whole thing fanatsticly. The 'i'm so irritated' cat face is just perfectly captured.
Dublin Elementary's First Grade Class!!!.......2005-04-15
Our class thought this book was funny! We laughed when the cat, Merl, got dressed up as a girl. Our favorite part was when the kids played tug-of-war with Merl. You have to buy this book! It is excellent!

Have you ever wondered what your cats get up to when they go out at night? Do they just sit in the garden and watch the world go by, or do they travel into the night on wild adventures that take them to faraway places human eyes have never seen?
The Golden Cat is a follow-up to the highly successful The Wild Road and the fairy-tale story of Tag the tabby cat, who after the death of his mentor Majicou inherits the task of the caretaker of the wild roads. When two of the King and Queen's three golden kittens go missing, Tag is asked to find them. One of the three kittens is the famous Golden Cat, but which one is it? Tag soon finds himself on yet another perilous journey across the wild roads with Leonora, the third kitten, in tow.
It's obvious that Gabriel King has a great love for the feline species, which shines out with great warmth from her writing. Observational detail rubs shoulders with moments of comedy strong enough to evoke a reaction from the hardest of hearts. There are also elements of high drama as she delves into the darkest side of vivisection and animal cruelty. A great read in its own right and a worthy follow-up to The Wild Road. --Elly Russell, Amazon.co.uk
Book Description
When Gabriel King created The Wild Road, the acclaim was swift and sure. "Absolutely magic . . . Always intriguing," said Richard Adams, bestselling author of Watership Down. USA Today called the book "a diverting fantasy" and the San Francisco Chronicle crowned it "mythical." Now, with The Golden Cat, the enchanting quest continues. For after Tag and his companions vanquished the wicked Alchemist, an even greater evil began to stalk the Wild Road--the pathway through space and time fueled by the life force of all creatures great and small. Tag senses it: something sinister on the horizon.
The ancient prophecy of the golden cat, whose coming will heal the troubled world, has for centuries inspired felines and humans alike. But the Queen of Cats has three golden kittens: Odin, the hunter; the singer, Isis; and the dancing Leonora Whitstand Meril. Which among them, if any, is the savior? This dilemma is quickly eclipsed by the sudden disappearance of two of the kittens, prompting their distraught feline majesties to turn to Tag, who, as the new Majicou, is their sage advisor and the protector of the Wild Road.
The desperate search moves from the water-lit Oceanarium and sun-dappled Tintagel to the distant Louisiana bayous and the pyramids of Egypt. Time after time, Tag and his friends note a mysterious symbol, though no one can fully interpret its transcendent significance. And as the heroes struggle on, so does a terrifying, unearthly force--a preternatural vortex threatening the Wild Road, tearing at the very fabric of existence. Only the Majicou in the full glory of his Wildness can resist its destructive energy. But Tag is unprepared for the staggering clash--and disastrously unprepared for the powerful darkness that threatens to consume everything in its wake.
An epic struggle between the purest Good and the darkest Evil. A sweeping odyssey that spans both continents and centuries. Unforgettable characters as human as your own heart. Gabriel King combines these rich elements masterfully into a stunning denouement. A dazzling fantasy adventure, The Golden Cat will stay with you long after the final page is turned.
Customer Reviews:
A UNIQUE SEQUEL.......2007-01-20
THE GOLDEN CAT completes the story begun in THE WILD ROAD, and tells the tale of a young male cat's fantastic journey through several worlds and with a variety of cohorts to find the mystical Golden Cat whose powers are said to be the salvation of the world. Not a book for the extremely young, sensitive, or squeamish, THE GOLDEN CAT ultimately ends on a positive note, and is recommended for all who began the saga with its predecessor.
The Golden Cat.......2006-07-10
This is an excellent book. The storyline interweaves a cat lover's obsession with a mix of fantasy and mythology. The reader almost gets into the mind of the cats and sees through their eyes. I would definitely recommend this book.
The Golden Cat.......2006-07-08
As a cat lover, I just loved this book. Would highly recommend to any of you cat lovers out there.
Both good, but better than the first!.......2006-05-20
The first book I read during a long event where I had lots of time to sit by myself. I'd read and read and read and then wonder, where is this going and when is he going to get to the point? But during the busier times that I wasn't reading, I kept finding myself thinking about the story... wanting to get back to the book and find out what came next.
The second book is paced better. I don't have problems with multiple subplots - switching points of view isn't a big deal for me. The writing and plot were both tighter, the conclusion satisfying.
Interestingly, I've noticed that nobody else has mentioned here in reviews the obvious: "Gabriel King" is not one person, folks. These two books were a collaboration between Jane Johnson and M. John Harrison, published under the name "Gabriel King."
The Golden Cat.......2005-02-26
I give this book 5 stars, and I think it's much better than "The Wild Road," King's first book. It's not nerely as hard to stay interested to, and I particularly liked the focus on the character of Sealink, and how you learned a lot more about her origins. One thing that I found a little confusing is how the personalities of the characters changed, rather too abruptly into the second book to be realistic, Tag and Ragnar in particular. Other than that I found this book an interseting, enjoyable read, and much better and easier to follow than "The Wild Road".

My daughter loves reading this book over and over. All of my daughter's favorite books are by this author. She looks at them over and over. Margaret Wise Brown is one of the best children's authors, and my personal favorite. This book also teaches colors and color mixing in fun verses of the kittens' adventures. I can't recall any other young children's book that actually teaches how colors are mixed.

The Shy Little Kitten.......2006-09-01

Overcoming shyness? I think not........2006-07-08

Pretty Kitty!.......2003-03-02
This picaresque novella will soften the hardest heart. When a mother cat leads her kittens into the barnyard sunshine, one kitten lingers behind and thus begins her adventures. She takes a walk with a mole through the countryside and the two hap upon a frog whose enormous mouth sends them into gales of laughter. A shaggy puppy then offers to lead the kitten home but not before he busies himself yapping at a squirrel who drops a nut on his nose! Home at last, the kitten joins a barnyard picnic but a bee-stung frog causes a stir and everyone dives into the brook for safety! It isn't long though before merriment is restored. 'This was the best day ever!' the little kitten exclaims. Tenggren's illustrations are lovely and most pleasing. A memorable tale and one the reader will return to time and again.
the Shy Little Kitten.......2001-04-12

This is one of my all time favorite books. I loved it when I was a little girl. I read it even today, when I need a little lift. It's such a cute story. My copy of the book isn't exactly like this one, it's an older version, and falling apart from repeated use. This is one of the greatest children's stories of all times, and your kids are sure to love it.
Pussy Willow by Margaret Wise Brown.......2002-05-23
This is one of the dearest children's books I have ever read to my children! It has such a poetic quality and such a sweet story. I have read it so many times to my children that our copy is falling apart. The one that I have is illustrated by Leonard Weisgard, and the pictures are darling.
a childhood favorite.......1997-09-05
This was one of my favorite books growing up -- although back then it was published as a BIG Golden Book, not a "Little" one... I've ordered one for my son to enjoy, because all these many years later, my mother still won't let me have possession of the copy I grew up with. The illustrations on the original were by Leonard Weisgard, and were stunning -- I only hope that the new version does the original justice

Not a first Word Book.......2007-06-19
Lovely Illustrations by Richard Scarry, and a nice little word book for a older toddler, but not really suitable for an older baby beginning to point and recognise, pictures are a little too complex.
A nice little book all the same.
BEST LITTLE WORD BOOK EVER.......2007-01-16
I PAID $4.99 AND THE BACK OF THE BOOK LISTS A US PRICE OF $2.99.
Beautiful little book.......2007-01-03
My toddler LOVES this little book. The concept is simple. There are labeled pictures of ordinary everyday objects. It's a great way to re-enforce what she's learning about objects in the world. It has kept us busy and happy on many car trips. It's an inexpensive way to spend a little quality time with my child. I see this book as a prelude to "What do people do all day", which is also good, but in my opinion a little bit busy for a one year old.

Louie Takes Manhattan.......2006-08-20
I have to admit so far, this was my favorite Midnight Louie mystery. When Santa is murdered, Louie is on the case along with persistant Miss Temple Barr, they will not rest until the case is solved. The descriptions of New York and it's beauty and hustle and bustle made me smile, remembering my trips to the big apple. Temple's Aunt Kit is a hoot! I enjoyed all the background info into the 1960's.
There is a lot of action and developments in the subplots, involing Cliff Effinger, and Temple's suitors Max and Matt. I especially enjoyed Matt's holdiay trip home to Chicago to confront his family and to try and get some answers to the questions about his life growing up and his ethnic background. His Christmas opens up his mind to new possibilites.
As usual, Midnight Louie is the best. You never know what he will do next!
Very enjoyable and well written. Thank you, Ms. Douglas, for such good story telling. I cannot wait to read the next book!
Fantastic Who-Done-It for the Holidays.......2003-12-15
Las Vegas advertiser, Temple Barr, and her black tomcat, Midnight Louie, are looking for a fun holiday vacation in New York City, where Temple will play stage Mother to Louie, in an attempt to land him a part as a pet star in a new commercial. In Temple's opinion, New York City is filled with lights, people, and best of all, no dead bodies. But when the boss of an ad agency dresses up as Jolly Old Saint Nick for a holiday party, Midnight Louie just knows it's a trap, and before they know it, Saint Nick is dead, and Temple and Midnight Louie are on the case. But between detective work, Louie's rival in Temple's love, Max, appears with a surprise holiday proposal, which leaves Temple breathless, and may leave Louie out in the cold.
This was my first Carole Nelson Douglas novel, and I am not at all disappointed in the turn out of it. Midnight Louie is a great character, who keeps you hanging on his every word, even though he's only a cat, and leaves you wanting more. Temple, while a tiny woman, is a tough one. Her rambunctious personality keeps you turning the pages until the crime is solved, and the case is put to rest. Douglas is a fantastic author who pulls you into the story, and doesn't let you out until the very last sentence. Her frequent talk about AIDS in the novel proves that she is very socially conscious, and interested in spreading the word of being safe. A fantastic who-done-it for the holidays that all mystery fans will enjoy and relish in.

Carole Nelson Douglas - Does it again... A GREAT READ!!!!!.......1999-04-25
The Midnight Louie mysteries series is a GREAT READ!!! The deiscriptions of Las Vegas ( and in this book New York) are right on the money and makes the reader long to take a trip to Las Vegas!!
With each new book, the plot gets thicker, the competition between Max and Matt gets better with each new installment! Which one will Temple choose?? Midnight Louis is a cat after my own heart, and I love his point of view and devotion to his human.
Congrations to Carole Nelson Douglas on a another hit book!!
Merry Christmas from everyone's favorite feline PI.......1999-03-24
They're back, Midnight Louie, that irresistable dude about town and his favorite human, Temple Barr. This time, the duo sets out to take the Big Apple by storm as Louie auditions for the position of chief spokescat. Once again, however, they find themselves in the thick of another murder as the actor hired to play Santa Claus at the ad agency Christmas party, turns up dead. Never fear, Louie is on the case, sniffing out clues (and catnip) wherever they may be! Meanwhile, in Las Vegas. ex-priest, Matt Devine, keeps Lt. Molina's life from becoming dull as he tracks down the illusive Cliff Effinger, while Temple's other beau, Max Kinsella tries some holiday magic of his own. Douglas paints a vivid picture of her characters, both human and feline, and their relationships, while weaving a mystery that keeps the reader engrossed until the last page. Merry Christmas to all and to all a good read from Carole Nelson Douglas and Midnight Louie!
Midnight Louie srikes again:).......1997-09-04
Las Vegas publicist Temple Barr sheds her professional persona tobecome the doting stage mother to her feline companion, the audaciousMidnight Louie. Madison Avenue gurus are thinking of using Louie as a spokes-cat for a feline product. Temple, believing that her "Baby" needs his chance to shine, accompanies him to New York where they stay at her aunt's place.
Wherever Temple goes, a corpse will follow. During a Christmas party given by the owners of the advertising agency, Santa Claus chokes to death while performing. At first, everyone thinks that the president of the company died, but soon it is realized that the deceased is someone else. The incident seems too freaky to be an accident so Temple and Louie will not rest until they know for sure.
NYC, seen through the eyes of Temple and Louie, is a humorous and ingenious experience that almost seems absurd. Carole Nelson Douglas provides lovable Louie with several believable anthropomorphic traits that makes him seem like a feline with a human brain inside. CAT IN A GOLDEN GARLAND has a very complex sub-plot involving one of the heroine's erstwhile suitors, allowing readers a chance to understand what drives him yet holds him back from committing to his beloved. This entire series is unique and refreshing and highly recommended for someone who enjoys a different type of mystery.
