This book is something everyone should read. It highlights many things all of us have been going through and how to cleanse our spirits and how to break those things in our life that we will not permit because they are not Godly they are of Satan! The simple beauty and timeless wisdom in this fascinating and potent book SHADOW BOXING are as clear, obvious and spiritually nutritious as the convoluted collection of racist mythology, bipolar anti-Semitism and unapologetic witchcraft which accompanies it is spiritually harmful.
His listing of the "Fourteen Root Spirits" that bind a soul otherwise full of joy in the bosom of God to the devil begins with the "Spirit of Infirmity". In it he includes diseases such as cancer, heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, arthritis, sinus problems and the (somewhat misogynistic) generalization "female problems." Most of these, however, have been linked to the following for decades now: 1) the booming sugar, fast food and tobacco industries and their disease-inducing products, 2) the public relations companies spawned for the express purpose of misinforming the public about the harm those products cause the body, and 3) the congressional lobbyists who see to it that no politician can get elected by pushing laws regulating their distribution for the health and welfare of the country. Yet he never once mentions the spirits of "Lying" and "Whoredoms" ("love of money"; "seduction"; "lust for position"; "placing anyone or anything [like Mammon] before God") serving as the foundation for not just much of our military empire economy, but for all of these multi-billion dollar corporations and the misery they have produced for millions of Christians around the world. Through silence, he becomes complicit with corporate sin.
Dr. Malone speaks of exorcising demons and spirits repeatedly (in, ironcially, the same way African "witch doctors" do it). Interestingly, however, while painting a 19th century missionary's picture of the Godless jungle people of Africa to make unrelated points about curses and spirits, he conveniently never mentions Apartheid; Nelson Mandela; the University of Ghana in Legon; the culturally sophisticated quasi-westernized upper Middle Class (and oil fields) of Nigeria; or the millions of African Christians--including Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Bishop Tutu--who would have serious issues with his entire Christian perspective. He supports through myth and silence a willfully ignorant, simplistic and immoral view of Africa and all of its people that is definitively unGodly.
The word "racism" appears just once in the entire book, unexplained. He does not even repeat it for the index.
The entire histories of Hinduism, Buddhism, Islam, Confucianism, (by default) the Enlightenment (which, via the non-Christian Founding Fathers of our nation, produced our Constitution) and all of the scientific and social innovation derived from them all--which we modern Christians both depend on and take for granted--is also flushed down the toilet as demonic for Malone with one phrase: "Eastern religions" ("Spirit of Divination", pg. 126). So embracing the heart of Gandhi (Satyagraha), for example, for how it reflects the heart of Christ (The Golden Rule) is out of the question for him.
Regarding Judaism: Malone essentially says it is right to hate the Jewish people and their religion in your heart, but wrong to express it openly in words (even though the Christ, who quoted an OT psalm while on the cross, never forsook his Jewish origins); for they are (still) the chosen people of God (compare chapter 6 to 8). And while never bothering to make any distinctions between ancient and modern Jews; Aryan/Ashkenazic, Arab and African/Falasha Jews; Israeli and European/American Jews; or the Israeli people and the Israeli military, he never bothers to explain the moral contradictions of his beliefs when they occur--sometimes in the same chapter.
The amount of critical thinking necessary to uncover problems like these throughout this book is minimal. Malone, however, makes "intellectualism" and "false teaching," despite his pursuing and earning what we are led to believe is a Doctorate in Theology, more sins against God (#14: the "Spirit of Error"). Much like the corrupt Popes and Bishops who harassed the father of Protestantism Martin Luther (not to mention Galileo), Malone, it seems, plays the demon card as a pre-emptive strike whenever it suits him politically. I guess he does this in the event anyone would dare "doubt" (see #14 again), question (#14 yet again: "confusion"; "unbelief") or disagree with any aspect of his way of thinking (see #12: spirit of jealousy; "distrustfulness"; "unnatural competition"). In so doing though, he himself "blasphemes the gifts" of genius that are "of the Holy Spirit" when they, like Jesus did, come to us in untraditional, unexpected and uncontrollable ways; "attributing them to Satan." (#8: "Spirit of Antichrist.").
On pages 140 and 141 of chapter 9, Dr. Malone speaks of a woman raised in a family of Satanists. He describes how "satanic plants" would "teach children in the church in such a way that they would believe in a form of Jesus, but never in the true Jesus of the Bible...Therefore they would grow up thinking they were saved, but they were only members of a church, having never been born again." Whether or not Dr. Henry Malone meant to tarnish the wisdom in this book by putting it in a satanic context is irrelevant; that is exactly what SHADOW BOXING does. I learned so much from some of the individual points of this book (hence the three stars), but all true Christians above a seventh grade education must develop the moral courage to reconsider the actual source of his teachings.

Over the years, I have bought and listened to well over 100 tape/cd sets produced by Nightingale Conant. This is one of the very best of the 100!
Although I am big fan of Debbie Ford's "Best Year of Your Life" book, the darkness of her other titles had me bypassing her other books. I came across this CD set and was intrigued with what seemed to be a more upbeat message. Wow, am I glad that somehow I connected (there are no accidents!).
I smiled to myself when, on the audio, Debbie called herself the Queen of Darkness...for that is exactly how I thought of her. Note the past tense. I now see her as the Light of Peace, showing us how we can take dark moments from our past and reframe them to be guiding lights for a better future.
Like Joe Caruso, whom I fortunately discovered the same week and recommend equally highly (his CD set is entitled "The Principles of Authentic Power"), Debbie does a great job of explaining how our story guides so much of our behaviors. Both Debbie and Joe use a presentation style that is like a "fireside chat", as opposed to the "in your face" style preferred by some speakers/authors. Note, if you need fire and brimstone to hear a message, this CD set is not for you. On the other hand, if you have a mind open to change, this CD set can have a profound impact on you.
The above publisher's information summarizes well the content. What I want to add is that what that content has the potential to do for listeners is to speed one's journey to the sense of deep peace that is so important to our health and personal performance.

Debbie Ford is a unique person in the healing field. Her ideas on the shadow are right on. I recommend all her books.
That being said, I have a huge problem with her over marketing and she seems to think that her model is the only one out there.
She is very much a business person. Although she has a good product, I feel that sometimes she forgets that she is marketing healing and not shoes. At times I question her ethics.

I have had a hard time in the past listening to Debbie Ford because her voice is a little boring, but this time I just pictured her as my girlfriend on Prozac sitting across the table from me and we got along great. After just a few minutes you pick up on her genuineness and feel her emotions as she relates her personal story. She hit upon insights to the past and how the bad things have gone on to create good things in our present self. I nearly fell over with a revelation about me, after one of her meditations. I have since purchased this set for three friends and each one has said the same thing, it is lifechanging.
You can start to collect your fragments and bring them back and love them.

A definite Improvement.......2007-09-17
Overall, this book is MUCH better then the first in the series. The Author still has a tendancy to make me speed read through long winded descriptions but most of the time the story held my interest. I actually started to like the chara's more in this story.
A new female chara is both good and bad. Madeleine is not a perfect Goddess but described as plain a number of times. PLAIN. I think God is proud of that. I have yet to read a novel (faith based or otherwise) where the main female chara is NOT descibed as beautiful. Although we do stray into stereotypical waters...I half expected a new girl to show up in this book or the next that might win Abramms heart. It seemed very Brother/sister to me. No actual chemistry was described until the last second, being rather predictable. I think I am just high maintence though, when it comes to love in stories. *sweatdrop*
The only other drawback is the ending. It feels as though it should have lasted longer.
Other qualities make up for the faults greatly. I was anxious through most of the the book to find out how Gillard would react to his return, along with every one else. After that, its the ball that makes you anxious, and then the monster, ect. We dont really get any relaxing time which is nice. It kept me reading!

I have enjoyed the whole Guardian King series by Karen Hancock more than any of the other contemporary Christian fantasy stories I have read over the last several years. Of the four books in the series, this is the one I keep coming back to read again and again. With the background and character development of the first book to build upon this one starts with a bang right in the first chapter. I like the way the author portrays the lead character in his role as king - not a king to be served by his people but one to serve and protect them no matter what the cost to himself. Our world has long been missing that kind of role model in a king figure.

How can I count the ways I love this book? I can hardly wait until the next in the series is released. Karen Hancock creates a wonderful world that I can get lost in. I read her books slowly so I can savor them. I know they will end all too soon. I love the allegory and hope that her book will make a difference in other people's lives, as it has in mine. I pray that more Christian fantasy authors like Karen will be raised up soon. I believe there is a great demand for them.

"In Within The Shadows", author A.C. Arthur does it again, she manges to pull you into yet another thrilling ride of murder, mystery, suspense and love, like only she can. While she holds you captive with a riveting murder mystery, she also keeps you enthralled with the steamy, heated romance between Nathan and Tenile. Her style of writing always seems to flow flawlessly and keeps you turning the pages and wondering what's going to happen next. Her characters are well developed and so appealing, you even find yourself bonding with the secondary characters, because their storyline only aids in adding more intrigue to the main characters. Every time I thought I knew whodunit, she would come at you from another angle and SURPRISE, more mystery and suspense. Just a thrilling ride from beginning to end. You will not be disappointed!

Somebody killed her. But who, why, and to what extent? Is it wise to flee town after a murder where you've been implicated? And, how foolish is it to return to the scene of that crime? AC Arthur answers these questions in the form of her main characters individually and collectively in the novel, WITHIN THE SHADOWS. Romance suspense is rapidly becoming the escape mechanism that most mainstream authors are alluding to. This changing of the guard and the penchant to write across the board to create new alliances for the readers' dollar is not out of sync for me. I applaud such efforts, especially if the authors are producing good works, and extending their craft. Now comes this author, whom I feel is making much more of a name for herself with her style of writing. If this book were any indication that a new icon is ready to be unleashed, readers would be in for a treat. Title notwithstanding, this book is out in the open. The shadows in this case, involves the lives of a coterie of college friends who are bound by idiosyncratic differences that lead to the death of one of the friends within (the shadows). The main protagonists are Dr. Nathan Hamilton and Tenile Barnes, who face unrequited love and dilemmas that set the tone for this good story.
With Nathan and Tenile being lovers, it started ten years ago when four other members of the group were roommates - Eli, Landy, Nicole, and Kareem figured that nothing could force them to be apart. One fateful night the bubble burst and a chain of relative events changed their lives forever. Landy, the pre-law student was brutally murdered, and Nathan in the eyes of many was considered a main prospect since he was the last person known to have seen her alive. Suspicion owning to no law of acquittal until proven not guilty, Nathan' aspires to find out who was responsible, and in turn prove his innocence. Tenile, on the other hand remembering days of yore, still yearns for the touch and kisses she knew so well, desperately wanting to believe Nathan. Chaos proliferates as Nathan's return has the whole town talking, and the perpetrators ill at ease. Who's lurking behind closed doors, and amid shadows, even? The author gives enough fodder to make this story hard to put down. She proves that it's not fleeting to weave romance against the murky undertakings of bringing a dark and mundane death to light.
I loved the book, and will not allow my one complaint to mar my overall opinion that the book isn't 5-star potential. Alluding to the fact that the romance tended to overshadow at times the search for the killer, it didn't diminish the superb plot and storyline. The story flows like a smooth and even-flowing river without the usual stagnation that can befall books without direction. I would have liked for the characters to be more defined, but innuendo works best when everything else has substance to shield loose ends. With this multi-layered plot working my last nerve trying to find out the real killer, I marveled at how Ms Arthur managed to keep me riveted to my seat...but then again, aren't the better writers supposed to do this? I applaud you AC Arthur for another gem from your bejeweled crown of literary delights. Keep up the good work; the literary God is not through with you yet. Readers wouldn't be disappointed in picking this book as a great summer read. I rated it 5 stars out of five.
Six Friends With One Big Secret!!!.......2007-05-28
This is a story about 6 friends and one of the friends is murdered 10 years ago. Nathan was suspected of the murder and even though he was cleared 10 years ago, he is still the main suspect. He decides that after 10 years the true murderer needs to be revealed and comes back to prove his innocence and to win back the love he left behind Tenile. Someone in the group of six does not want the truth to be revealed and the outside parties involved want something that Landy left behind that they feel belongs to them and will go to extreme measures to get it. This murder mystery will have you on the edge of your seat trying to put the pieces to this puzzle together to find out who is guilty why she was killed. Another great book by A.C. and it will have you hoping that she plans a sequel because of the ending of this story.

That is, until one fatal night changed their lives forever. Landy, destined to become a lawyer, has her life snuffed out brutally. The last person known to have seen her alive was Nathan and, of course, the finger of suspicion pointed to him. In the small town of Tanner, a little gossip and a little suspicion was all that was needed to turn his girlfriend, Tenile, against him and put him on the run, so to speak. With no real hard evidence against him and his feelings for Tenile apparently a dream gone badly, Nathan leaves Tanner for New York where he would complete his education to become a doctor.

In WITHIN THE SHADOWS, author A. C. Arthur once again manages to woo readers as she captures the essence of a riveting murder mystery while she turns up the heat in the excitement of a spicy romance. No one can quite compare to her style of writing. It flows together seamlessly moving from scandalous suspense to sultry romance, never missing a beat. Her characters are well developed and so appealing, that even the secondary ones are just as prolific to the storyline as the main ones. I spent the better part of a night glued to my seat trying to figure out all the multi-layered plots in this whodunit love story. This is great novel to get worked up about: murder, mystery, suspense and love. How can you beat this combination?

Within the Shadows by A. C. Arthur begins with a look ten years in the past through the eyes of a killer. This killer thus far is nameless and faceless but will soon resurface as the story continues.
Dr. Nathan Hamilton has returned to the small town of Tanner after ten years to clear his name, once and for all. Years ago, he was accused of killing one of his best friends in a most heinous way, though he was never prosecuted nor proven innocent. When the heat got too hot in Tanner, Nathan left the small town for life in the big city of New York where no one cared about a person's past. With Nathan back in town, he is hoping to finally find the real murderer, clear his name and hopefully reconnect with the one person who he has ever truly loved whole-heartedly, Tenile Barnes.
Nurse Tenile Barnes has been under the impression that the only man she has ever loved betrayed her with her best friend many years ago and then murdered her in cold blood. So, when she learns that Nathan Hamilton has returned to town and they have to share intimate work space she has mixed emotions. On one hand, she still feels attracted to him and on the other she hates him for betraying her with someone she considered a true-blue friend. But that is not all that is happening in this small town. As Tenile and Nathan reconnect, something or someone lurks within the shadows waiting for the opportune time to strike again.
Within the Shadows by A. C. Arthur is a mysteriously captivating story. She pulls you into the story and will have you locked there from beginning to end wondering whodunit. There are several different characters within the book that make you think they are guilty of the crime but the author throws twist after twist to keep the readers off balance. All characters, main and supporting, have something special that they offer to Within the Shadows, whether that something special is pig-headedness, shallowness, or persistence. The ending of this book will leave readers desperately craving more of the mystery. This happens to be the first title I have read by this author and it will not be the last.

What Really Happened on Khazad Dum?.......2007-04-03
For those Babylon 5 fans who would like the whole story on what went on at Khazad Dum, when Sheridan's wife and her archeological team woke up the sleeping Shadows, this is the book for them.
It fills in the details of an important incident in the storyline alluded to, but not fleshed out, in the TV series.
For those who also wondered where the creepy Morgan character comes from, who ends up pulling Londo and all of Centauri Prime into the Dark Side, this book will satisfy your curiosity.
Definitely not a "side story"; this is intrinsic to much that follows.

Morden's backstory.......2005-12-05
This novel of the Babylon 5 universe fills in the blanks regarding one of the acclaimed series' most intriguing characters: Morden, mouthpiece of the evil Shadows. Even more, it also focuses on Anna, second wife of John Sheridan, and the tale of how she went from loving wife and archaeologist to mindless minion of those aforementioned Shadows.
"The Shadow Within" was originally published in 1997, and four years later the same author wrote a trilogy about the mysterious Techno-Mages, who appeared on the B5 space station in one episode of Season Two but whose story is incredibly fascinating. See the trilogy titled "The Passing Of the Techno-Mages" for more, especially since this book dovetails into that trilogy and serves as a prequel. I cannot recommend this set of four novels highly enough, although I do agree with another reviewer here that this volume is not as spectacular as the trilogy.

I found this novel to be a great intro to the Babylon 5 novel series. It gave a look at Captain Sheridan and Anna before the Shadow Wars and gives an inkling of what is to come. I also was lucky enuff to get a copy that was autographed by the author herself which makes this copy of mine even more treasured. This is definately a must read for any babylon 5 fan.

This book tells the tale of what really happened to Anna Sheridan and Morden during the Icarus' doomed expedition to the Shadow homeworld, Z'ha'dum. Plus, there's a subplot concerning Captain Sheridan trying to get the crew under his new command on the Agamemnnon into shape, and then preventing a terrorist attack on the recently completed Babylon 5 space station.
This book, and it's companion volume "To Dream in the City of Sorrows", created a feeling of dread about the Shadows and what they represent, just like on the Babylon 5 TV show. And we all know that Anna joined the Shadows, but her reasons as to why are a shocker. Strongly recommended.

Drew (short for Andrew) is a successful novelist who appears to have everything. He has a hit thriller series, a nice large home in Atlanta, several wonderful friends, and is eagerly awaiting his new book deal (which promises to make him hundreds of thousands). The only thing missing is the love of a good woman, or to finally admit that he is in love with his best friend, Carmen. A slave to habit, his life, which is clearly outlined and followed, is disrupted when he meets the "woman of his dreams" (Mika) in Starbucks. She seems, initially, to be everything he wanted....beautiful, smart, rich, sexy and seemingly independent. However, after a night of passion, Mika turns into something he doesn't want and can't handle. As the novel unfolds, Massey introduces an element of the supernatural that promises to hold the attention of the reader until the very end. With a stormy parental relationship with his father, and his mother's psychic dreams, Drew realizes that he is in trouble, but is unsure of how to escape the one he thought that he desired. Filled with psycho cats, a sweet ghost named Sammie, and a scary groundskeeper (Walter), this novel has it all.....a little romance, some mystery, some deaths and a great story. I won't tell you what or who Mika is, reading this novel will tell you that, but I will say that Massey is among the few today who can create a story to be rivaled by Tanarive Due or Octavia Butler. Read this novel and you will not regret it.

So I had to take a break from the romance novels and hit up one of Brandon Massey's new thrillers titled "Within The Shadows".
If you love a good thriller, then this is the book for you! It started off with a bang! It ended with a bang! This book shows you that you should be open for the possiblity of anything happening in your life! The good, the bad and the UGLY!
Brandon's main character Andrew realized all that. He was a creature of habit until the one fatal day he did something he didn't normally do! Yep, it costed him a lot when he stepped out of his normal habit and didn't FOLLOW his CONSCIENCE!!!! True enough some good came out of it. BUT a whole lot of bad and ugly came out of it ti! It was a great tale of friends, family, and lust!
Take a ride with Andrew as he deals with writing a book, selling his 4th novel, sex, love, and the ghostly adventures!!!!!
Better than watching a horror flick..........2007-01-30
If you enjoy suspense and horror, you will thoroughly enjoy this book. From the very first page he has you hooked as the characters are driving home in a sudden storm. Wow! I couldn't put this book down!
Brandon Massey is a wonderful writer. This is the third book I've read by him, however it won't be the last. Read and enjoy!

This, too, was my third book by Brandon Massey, after Dark Corner and The Other Brother. With each new book, I am hooked on Brandon's books even more. I listen in audio format, and the narrators bring the story to life like you wouldn't believe.
All I can say is get the book, whether in print or audio format. You won't be disappointed.
AWESOME SCARES.......2007-01-18
OK - this one got me. Talk about scary! There's no one creepier than the 'Fatal Attraction' chick in this novel. She gives obsession a whole new meaning. Massey has a gift of grabbing and holding your attention. It was hard to stop reading. Just when I would decide to put this book down to get some rest, here he goes ending the chapter with a cliffhanger that made it impossible not to read further. I love his style of writing. Every novel I've read of Massey's has been awesome, but this one is my favorite.

A mystifying ceremony takes place. Flesh, blood and soul meld into stone monuments. It appears twelve men are being sacrificed to the stone, one of them angrily claiming he is the One, the chosen, in the face of the evil priest Pallard.
Hundreds of years after the ceremony, Bree, a child named Shroud to the Spirit Stones, is to name her chosen, her One. She can find none who suit her liking, but Alric wants the title and the power that comes with it for himself. His assault on Bree leads to warriors stepping forth from their stone imprisonment. One in particular (Nathan) calls Alric out and cares for Bree. Nathan, however, must re-enter the stone until called forth again.
Meanwhile, a plague strikes the stone worshipers, killing many of them. In the midst of this plague, a reformation takes root, a reformation which outlaws the worship of stone, a reformation which blames the failing seasons on the worship of stone. Thus, the Reformers begin the destruction of the Spirit Stones and anyone caught worshipping them.
Each time Shroud Bree needs him, Nathan appears by her side--a ghost of sorts--but growing weaker by the day.
Bree must--with the help of her mischievous grandfather Shanis, Shanis' friends, some surprise guests, and an assortment of magical Fae creatures--reset the balance of energies before the seasons fail altogether, leaving people to perpetual winter and starvation. But Bree must discover how to achieve this goal while eluding the Reformers. And, how to free Nathan? These are goals Alric, Pallard, and Dayan Thane (the leader of the Reformation) have no intention of letting Bree reach.
All is more than it seems, however--the plague, the true cause of the failing seasons, the true menace behind the reformation, and the true origins of stone worship.
Intense characters and emotionally charged scenes advance Within the Shadow of Stone's intricate plot. Tasty morsels of information are rationed per chapter--enough to whet one's appetite and draw the reader deeper and deeper into the book, until the purposes behind the mystifying ceremony become perfectly clear. A bonus--the romantic interplay between Nathan and Bree, though very innocent, sizzles.

excellent cautionary fantasy.......2004-12-19
Twelve years old Bree of the Skye people worships the nearby stones. While the pre-teen visits the stones, Alric intends to force Bree into declaring she is his.He wants her "gift" as a "Shroud born" and ultimately the lands she will inherit. Desperate, Bree prays to the stones that legend says will provide warriors in a time of need; her pleading is answered freeing Bree from the assault.
Years later, the Reformers consolidate power around a new religion. They outlaw worship of the stones, destroying most of them. One circle remains so Bree goes to the stones that saved her from Alric as the world seems in trouble. She learns that Chief Reformer Lord Blight is coming; only renewal in the belief of the stones by Skye clans can stop the destruction. Bree is the last hope but Blight already knows that. The mystical Hertha keeps her safe if her belief does not linger, but only Bree can save the Skye people if she can get them to believe in the Pact their ancestors made when they believed.
This is a terrific allegorical fantasy that provides cautionary warnings on several paths besides the obvious religious overtones and the eco-environmental plea. The key cast members including Alric and Hertha seem genuine so that the audience understands motives of the good, the bad and the greedy. Bree is a female Moses filled with doubts about her self-worth to lead the flock back to the Promised Land yet her faith makes her the obvious one. WITHIN THE SHADOW OF STONE is an excellent cautionary fantasy.

This author's style of writing reminds me very much of Andre Norton; her story is full of magic and wonder and draws the reader in from page one. If you like mythology then you will definitely enjoy this romantic tale of mystical standing stones and enduring love. Well worth your time and money. I look forward eagerly to many more stories from this very talented author.

A brave young woman named Bree--a chosen one--embarks on a perilous quest with the hopes of restoring the life-giving power of the ancient Stones. But some on evil bent would see her dead than see the Stones return to life. The warrior sworn to protect her is trapped within the realm of Stone, and only Bree can free him--if she only knew how to use her newfound powers. Bree must endure tests of faith and extreme danger if she's to save her dying land.
Within the Shadow of Stone is a beautifully written fantasy full of mystery and suspense, magic and lore. It drew me in with its vivid descriptions and passionate characters, and it carries with it larger, thought-provoking themes. This is a compelling read and comes with my highest recommendation.

Bree is upset with the loss of her heritage. When the plague hit and wiped out most of her people, the Reformers came into power. Bree's people have always worshipped the Stones. The Reformers are trying to wipe out all existence of the Stones. They have even outlawed the worship of Hertha, their Goddess. Bree was born a Shroud and should have had a leading role with her people. Since the Reformers came into power, Bree knows this will never happen. As if this loss wasn't enough, Alric is still after her. Alric tried to get Bree to claim him as her Chosen. When Bree declined, he make it clear he wasn't done with her.
After Bree and Shanis, her grandfather, lose their home, Bree is called by Hertha herself. As Shroud, Hertha has a mission for Bree. Bree is go beyond the land of the mist and bring back all the lost tribes. She will have to get the people worshipping the Stones again, or the land will die.
And so, Bree and Shanis take off to accomplish what the Goddess desires. Bree ends up with a nymph, Rowan. Rowan tries to teach Bree how to use her magic. She also ends up being saved a warrior, Nathan, who comes whenever she has need. Shanis finds an old friend, Jon, and they end up with Pheri. The two of them, with Pheri's help of course, are going to try and get people believing in Hertha and the Stones again.
Will Bree's mission be successful? What of this mysterious warrior that shows up whenever he is needed? What of Shanis and Jon? Will they ever meet up with Bree again? Will the Reformers be victorious and kill the land?
Sheri L. McGathy's works are always a delight to read. The words are sheer poetry and I find myself getting lost in them, their rhythm and the images they invoke. Sheri L. McGathy is a very talented storyteller. Whenever I pick up anything she's written, I know I will be transported to a simpler time and place where ordinary people become heroes and WITHIN THE SHADOW OF STONE is no exception. The heroine is an ordinary woman, pushed into extraordinary circumstances and must prevail to save her world. But like Aesop and the Brothers Grimm, Sheri L. McGathy always has a lesson to be learned in her stories. And just like all good storytellers, Sheri L. McGathy doesn't tell us what she wants us to know, we learn, along with Bree, as the story develops. If you haven't had the opportunity to read anything by this very talented woman, pick up a copy of WITHIN THE SHADOW OF STONE. You won't be sorry you did.

Thought Provoking.......2005-10-22
A thought-provoking book on the working of the psyche, combining the standard breakdown with elcletic influences. We all feel out of control at times, as if we're being influenced by "something" else, that "someone" is pulling our strings like a puppet, and I'll leave it to others to determine whether come from hidden conflicts within our own minds or external "forcing," to use the engineering term.
Dr. Skillas brings his principles of therapy into sharp focus with incidents from his own often tragic life, balancing with unexpected humor.
This book has helped me get better control over my own life!

Fantastic material.......2001-05-23
Not only will WFRP players and game masters get a great adventure (one of a 5-part series), but great detail has been given to the Empire locations the adventure travels to. This book also contains a supplement dealing with river life and trade in general, the lifeblood of the Empire. All in all, a must have for any WFRP player.
A Cthulhu Adventure for Warhammer FRP.......2000-05-06
This adventure is the 2nd part of the famed 'Enemy Within' campaign for Warhammer FRP originally published by Games Workshop. The adventure, set in the small town of Bogenhafen has been described by its authors as a 'Call of Cthulhu' scenario. This means investigation, conspiracies, secret cults, and fateful summonings. Above all, it encourages roleplay since there is a bare minumum of violent action.
While many Warhammer FRP veterans enjoy this adventure and rate it highly, I prefer a more balanced style of adventure design. As it is written, the game features a lot of investigation and interaction, and almost no action. However if your group is fortunate enough to consist of players who prefer roleplay over combat, add one star - this adventure is made for you. Players with way too many weapon specialization skills would probably be unconscious with boredom before the end.
Challenger for Power Behind the Throne!.......1999-12-09
This adventure is not recommended for players who like only hack and slash. SOB is lighter version of Power behind the throne. Player characters are drawn to Bögenhafen by a mistake. There they are faced by a great threat of Chaos. One of the very high persons in Bögenhafen is corrupted and players are to find out who it is. Guilty one is found out quite easily, but problem is: How to find evidence hard enought to collapse him/her? Can players stop the catastrophe? This adventure is the first of The enemy within campaign. So player characters should not be too powerful. Very fascinating and interesting book. I recommend.
Another fine effort by the folks at GW.......1999-04-04
I am a longtime gamer and have been involved with Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay since the 1st Edition way back in 1990 and remains one of my favourites.
Death on the Reik is one of the older adventures, originally published by Games Workshop before they abandoned the WFRP line to Hogshead. The quality of GW's early work is evident in this product: an inspired storyline, terrific artwork and interesting locales.
The book details an epic journey the length of the River Reik challenging the players with a good balance of invetigation and action as they attempt to thwart the forces of Chaos.
While many people rate the Enemy Within and Shadows of Bogenhafen higher, this adventure is my personal favourite. Be warned that the ending seems a bit of an anti-climax. A more epic finale would have seen this book get a 5-star rating.
